Didn't realize Chito was talking to shit to Sean during the fight. Gotta rewatch the fight and see if I can catch any of it.

fill her up you're listening to the gas digital network conceive believe achieve shut the [ __ ] [Applause] up [Applause] this is believe you me on the gas digital network three three two one whoa simultaneous countdown introductions monday morning podcast believe you me underway episode 260 something lewis i would say how are you i would say how are you doing but footage has a rose has been on earth discovered of you letting down the believe you me fans letting down everybody let it down ev the people of new york going out there in public getting in fights bar fights at your age lewis come on letting down nobody you mean being a good friend making sure that my friend wasn't attacked maybe he's embarrassed if he said that ryan come on you should have dropped that one in there come on carry on sorry yeah i mean people have seen the footage of this one i made page six we made page six in the new york post i mean jesus christ if that doesn't tell you where i'm at in my career at this point uh we were at a show in pennsylvania and uh a guy you know me and big jay were doing our thing and big j's i'm just a master of crowd you've seen big j do crowd work it's [ __ ] yeah he's great crazy he's so good and um he started trashing this chick and she was hammered and her brother after she's being kicked out her brother just decided to take it upon himself to like bum rush the stage grab big j by his leg and pull him off the stage um which could have been really dangerous i mean honestly it's like a five foot platform big j's a big guy if he would have fell in on his felon he would have fallen on his head or his neck he could have really hurt himself but immediately i'm sure brian could put this in post some of this video if you see my cat like reflexes i spring into action and uh yeah i jump off the stage and let's just say i got my friends back and uh but you know you know lucy i'm just gonna play devil's advocate as you guys like to say you know i always chat [ __ ] get banged chat [ __ ] on a microphone to at night to a nightclub full of people ridiculing some poor girl you don't know what that woman's going through you know she's having a very very tough time right now she's lost multiple family members to coronavirus she can't work she's lost all her money she comes in she's looking for a bit of light comic relief and what does she get ridiculed made fun of uh uh just just stripped down of the last little piece of dignity that she had and her herself she was going to take it but her brother couldn't take it anymore and he had to come to her rescue and then what happens you run out of nowhere for all you know that guy could have been trying to give jay a foot massage a nice little car for him right that's what it looked like to me i thought this guy's giving jf foot massage and lewis comes and kicks him in the head i mean when i come and escalated to another level that's what i saw you i know a lot of people saw it that way and i'll see you in court and reverse for pennsylvania next month um yeah it's gonna be the charges not against us i mean thank god i think we should it's up to really big jay cause big the guy got arrested there was video shown of the guy grabbing him um and you know a bunch of people jumped on him and i think he was maced or something i have no idea who maced the guy but apparently one of the fans said pepper spray or something on them so uh yeah we're in my opinion jay's not hurt i'm not hurt you know you let bygones be by guns who gives a [ __ ] you know the guy learned his lesson he spent his night in jail um but that's not up to me that's up to jay if he wants to continue to press charges well i had a much more calmer weekend than you lewis mike well nothing i just hung out i'm having a knee replacement i can't walk further than 10 feet that said still got my workout in this morning because i'm a beast you know what i'm saying but uh no i just chilled out at home watch tv watched the fights on saturday which we'll get into in a little bit in fact saying that we got marlon cheeto vera who was victorious over sugar shot on molly at the weekend he'll be joining us also we have my surgeon very good friend and just a brilliant man dr stephen mora he'll be joining us also he'll be uh shedding a little bit of light on the finishing secrets of o'malley and cheeto vera from a scientific standpoint so that should be very very interesting but uh lewis other than um you know getting into fights and basically letting down the reputation of the show uh what do you want to do what do you want to talk about well i mean whatever you know as it relates to that though i mean you know let's talk about that a little bit because i want to know what you would do in that situation because it's just two different trains of thought here right my friend big j is a pretty big guy he can handle himself it's not like big j doesn't need me to come to his [ __ ] rescue but big j for those that don't know constantly has on fingerless gloves one could liken them to hand wraps he constantly has hand wraps on i'm gonna say he's pushing close to 300 pounds he's always sweating he's always warmed up cigarette behind the ear to calm down afterwards you know i've seen how this guy rolls i don't hold on never mind jason ellis i think big j would [ __ ] you up you think so never mind brian or big j big j can handle himself he doesn't need you well that's the thing there was no part of me that was like oh well let me think about this my friend jay is in a physical altercation with this gentleman who yanked his leg like my immediate reaction is to jump in and make sure that my friend's not being hurt immediately and that's not like it's weird because you you almost it's like two guys should they fight it out mono amano um or should you jump in and make sure that your friend's not getting hurt because this was a big [ __ ] guy it's a really big guy the fact that you can grab big j by the way yeah listen guy at least six six 320 pounds but like the guy was jacked obviously he does [ __ ] bicep and shoulders two twice a week squats as well definitely works leg day this guy was big he was intimidating he was covered in scars i mean listen you are a brave man louis everybody everybody hats off round of applause to louis j gomez for fighting the good fight i agree with you mike thank you daniel look at that and we're back no i'm messing with you that was nice of you to come to your friend's defense there but um you gotta be careful though haven't you because obviously you're if any time you see a friend like that you want to help right but but you got to be careful because you know in this day and age you can't go around putting your hands on people unfortunately so some people do need it certainly in that occasion that guy needed uh restraining and throwing out violently i wouldn't say physically physically throwing out maybe using his head to open the doors on the way out yeah but you have got to be careful because as i say you can't actually put your hands on people these days well that's the thing it's like you know my logical part is like no i want to go home and see my kid you know i i don't want to get [ __ ] stabbed are you into some dumb fight now i'm paralyzed and i'm eating my food through a straw for the rest of my life that's terrible um but when it with me i'm so much more i don't really care as much with me like if somebody threatens me like you sort of assess the the threat right and you go like all right whatever like in a weird way i don't really if somebody says [ __ ] you dude and they come at me i'm less likely to sort of spring to action whereas if somebody goes after one of my friends or attacks somebody that i'm with there's it's i don't even think about it i just i automatically want to defend my friend and it reminds me when kurt metzger tried to attack me and you just watched on the sidelines and you just let it happen you didn't care you were like you know what dude let him get [ __ ] let him get his head caved in he threatened to stab me you know if he had a knife on him you were gonna let it happen so i just want to point out that i'm a way better friend than michael bisping what are you referring to number one i've actually done hard time prison time defending my friends okay i've learned my [ __ ] lesson okay i've gone to the slammer bro i've been in there i've been on the other side i've seen what it's like in there you wouldn't last a day boy i've been there i've done it that was just your friends they're always defending my [ __ ] friends i don't need to defend myself i mean i do but i'm good yes you know especially when i grew up people knew you know stay away mess play with fire you get burned i'm good baby boy right my [ __ ] mates not so much so all the fights that i got in there were not always not always i shouldn't say that but a lot of the time you know defending my friends who may or may not be [ __ ] as well so they probably started it but yeah you got to know what to do but uh oh well i'm glad you didn't get pepper sprayed lewis i didn't i'm glad you didn't get shot in the face or stabbed but what is this you're talking about with that kurt metzger when i never defended you what's that at the comedy store remember when we got into a whole thing at the comedy store no you were trying to start a fight at the comedy show i was like he was trying to fight i was trying to finish that [ __ ] there were some weird guys that kurt metzger is that who that was yes that was kurt metzger you know you don't even know who it was no are you friends with coach madison he's on the interject them because you know you had a funny way of working out and now you guys are like busting buddies that is a good point you would have [ __ ] kicked him the head and paralyzed them with a problem for the tour and then i would have had another lawsuit uh anyway so um oh yeah as i said we had massive fights of the week and we have got cheeto very joining goes but uh what do you want to do lose did you watch the fights of the weekend how was your weekend where i went i went to six flags with the group with the whole crew which was a lot of fun we had a bunch of roller coasters and then we got back uh i ended up missing no no i caught the end of the first fight i'm trying to remember who it was but i caught the end of the first fight in the uh the pay-per-view it was a three-rounder um and then yeah i watched it pretty enjoyable night of fights overall but after you're riding roller coasters all day and day drinking it's a little bit like it's just not as thrilling when you just i'm on death defying roller coasters all day and then i come home and i'm watching some fights i'm like you know what that doesn't compare to king dakar hold on does it compare to what king dakar or is that the name of a ride that's one of the rollercoasters yeah the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world or in north america death defying no one's died on that ride bro you're not defying that no that's not true that ride in particular the test week when they tested it like six people got killed they [ __ ] snapped their necks no i swear to god no there's no way that if that snapped six people's necks and six people died they would say you know what this is too much we just got to maybe lose that kubda kai the coup de gras whatever it's called okay we're going to get rid of the cuda graph they're snapping next and cash and checks lawsuits baby all day long that uh i might be making up some of these specific details as the number of people that died and and the way they died i'm nearly positive that king dakar killed at least a person in testing harrington brian please fact check at this point okay so i want to know more about this so so even though you said last week that uh what's it called um what's it called the theme park success six flags six flags you know as you say it's death defying bro you could have real balls to go on the rides uh but it was it's mainly a family thing i would say i want to know what were people's reactions to when the the entire gas digital legion of skank network was parading around no doubt being loud abusive offensive smoking no doubt using foul language i mean what was the what was the uh you know how did people okay hold on brian is [ __ ] now he sent me a private message thank you brian i like here's what's good they really are my uh my employees because if you were wrong best bank brian would have just he would tap the mic excuse me michael bisping you were wrong let me explain to you the five different reasons why you're wrong when i'm wrong brian sends me a private message to let me know how to correct myself and okay great i appreciate that and somebody said is no one has ever died in king dakar the last person who've ever lost their lives the sixth grade adventure was in 1987 when a teenage girl fell from the now removed lightning loops rollercoaster okay no saying corrected yes there you go there's no way a ride would be allowed to go on if six people died on the [ __ ] maiden voyage that's like the titanic sinking and they're saying oh let's build it exactly the same way and go at the same time of year on the same day with the same pilot or driver or what do you call it captain even though he's dead um yeah there were some deaths at a theme park in england last year it's crazy you know when you see them and you see they're not deathly fired but they're [ __ ] dangerous you're taken into you know you're putting a lot of faith and confidence in these people that do their daily checkups and maintenance [ __ ] that no way that have you ever seen the people that work at these theme parks it's not like they're engineers i guess he was a little mark zuckerberg nerdy looking [ __ ] no no it is an autistic kid with pimples and he you know yes his clothes fit right like if you can't if his clothes don't fit right why do i think that he's gonna be checking this ride properly no for sure but have you seen i don't know if you have these in england we have the fair that comes to town four times a year we know like once every season and they're run by gypsies carnies corners travelers whatever you want to call them you know what i mean the united states they're not law-abiding citizens that's for [ __ ] damn sure they're looking for young girls to take around the back of the waltzers which is a ride that they have in england you have waltzes in america where teacups those are teacups i could just tell by they're not [ __ ] teacups bro they're waltzes i'm assuming it's a [ __ ] thing that moves like the teacups move right they spin like in a waltz yeah yeah but they go fast and they spin you this big yeah the screaming i bet you it's the scrambler no it's not the scrambler we have the scrambler and we have the ski jump the ground no is that the way he's in the middle you spin around you stick you know when we were kids we always got told if you spit in the middle and spit into the air at the right time because you're spitting the spit would just stay there in the middle it doesn't you just you're just sitting on your friend's face yeah you just spit on somebody it doesn't work it doesn't work at all uh yeah no the fairy will come to town yeah dude they're not little autistic 14 year old kids they're they're guys that are trying to like hit some 50 well i say guys they're like 18 themselves they're hitting on 15 year old girls trying to get them drunk yeah yeah you used to have a few runnings down at the fair back in the day i'm sure you did yeah i mean we guess digital we took over and we did exactly what you thought we would have done which is just we were just such misfits at the park literally going in going in alex one of our producers gets caught with uh a joint in her bag going into the park so she's a great start this is a good start group of 15 people she's removed from the park before we even enter the park and we're ride or die so we're like all right we're all leaving now which sucks so the girl's taking her out of the park and i go to the girl and i'm like look there's 15 of us here i was like it's a big world wearing a mask i was like can you just off the record tell me if we go to the car and just change her shirt i was like how would they know and then she goes i'm supposed to put this name in right away so her name would come up i'll wait till the end of the day put it in it's stupid it's just a joint who cares so the girl the security guard super cool we go she changes and we come back in you've just ratted her out on one of the world's biggest podcasts that girl that did you a favor is now going to get fired yeah she should be she's letting riffraff into this park total absolutely good job all right well listen i'm glad you guys had a good day that's not it oh so we go to get on king dakar the ride we're talking about brian our very own producer we're about to go on the track they stop the car they pull it back in and they brian tell your perspective on this because they accuse brian of having a cell phone and you cannot have a cell phone on a roller coaster because they fly out of people's hands and they impale people and kill them yes no for good reason lewis people can die we're traveling at high velocity speeds you don't need what would be in essence a brick to fly through the air brian brian's [ __ ] shitty shitty android phone that ruins all our group messages kill somebody it's not even a good phone a phone from the [ __ ] 90s the size of a house break yeah no [ __ ] you can't get on a roller coaster we've got an advanced piece of material here okay so so brian what happened tell me your perspective because i'm ahead of you in the car and we have 11 or 12 people on the ride and they pull the car back in and they're removing brian all right so here's what happened tom uh passed his his uh vape pen to joey who was sitting next to me they thought that i like [ __ ] handed somebody my phone or some [ __ ] they don't know who tom or joey are just you know he's got to say employ one employee too get to the point got it well that's what happened then they thought the vapen was my fault so they go grab brian and they try to take him off the the ride oh i'm told this [ __ ] if uh she was like i need to see your phone i said no my phone is in my girlfriend's bag downstairs she starts insisting that we go downstairs to get my phone so she can see it and at that point i was like this little fascist [ __ ] theme park cop is not looking at my phone ever so i start yelling at it yeah louis starts yelling then i start yelling for no reason because i just can't watch my friend once you're a guy that defends the friends okay i'm a friend defender i defend my friends i don't know that's what i do that's who i am at my core michael bisping maybe that's right the park offender whilst being a friend defender right no you guys are having blatant disregard for the rules okay i'm just going to sound like an old man rules are there for a reason bro people will go in there and we're karen bisping no no no no no no no this is we're dealing with high velocity technology here okay a lot can go wrong a lot can go wrong you got to follow these rules through the t you can't be passing around bait pens using drugs mobile phones i mean what's next you're passionate about passing around flick knives and dynamites i mean where does this end like that who knows where this is gonna go anyway so yeah i start yelling and then they just essentially they just said are we gonna tear these 12 people off the ride or we're just going to let them go and be done with them in eight seconds started chanting let him ride yeah that is true oh really okay all right but that's nice that's nice okay but again thanks for the invite i hope you all had a fantastic time all right listen as we know you should take care of yourself you should train but not everybody has the luxury of having a home set up they don't have a garage okay they don't have a gym they don't have all the equipment you would find at your local gym in a garage they don't but what you can get they are very very cheap is a set of jump ropes cross robes in particularly these are the way forward right you don't need all the equipment all you need is the cross rod they have different handles they have different weights and they also have an app you can choose between their get lean their get strong programs depending on your fitness goals or get the best value for both by getting to get fit bundled then of course as i said you've got the app you track your workouts you map your progress with the free crossroad up lewis you've been joining me you've been skipping you've been you've been cross wrapping like a madman i love it i'm down eight pounds already i just started using the cross rope to be a part of my entire training camp for this incredible fight that i'm gonna be having and i'll tell you right now i'm not one of these athletic dudes obviously you guys have seen me i'm not super athletic crossroad makes it really easy the weighted ropes it makes it way easier especially in the beginning if you're starting off in the beginner programs so much easier than jumping in with one of these speed ropes and you get better over time so many different workouts whether you're focused on building muscle or just trying to lose weight building endurance really really incredible program very unique and the quality of the ropes is awesome dude the way it works they have these unique clips so you clip the different weighted ropes onto the handles it's really convenient to travel with i travel a lot you travel a lot if you're a traveler this is the way to go yeah and when we say a traveler we don't mean a gypsy we just mean if you if you get on planes frequently but this is like you're a gypsy do you like to be called travelers bro don't be offensive no but listen at the end of the day lives you are training for a fight now so you do want to do that because skipping or jumping rope is part of every fighter's routine it will burn fat it will burn calories it will uh release endorphins you'll get a good sweat it's uh shoulders you gotta build up stamina in your shoulders and also in your feet and also you gotta maintain uh mental focus throughout you know if you're doing a three-minute round you're gonna you know you gotta focus for three minutes and in a fight you're gonna focus also so if you wanna give it a try go to crossroad.com that's all you're going to do to get 40 off right go to crossroad.com believe b-e-l-i-e-v-e we do have dr stephen moore joining us in just a couple of minutes so we'll start talking about the cold main event there was some great fights on uh as usual but uh co-main event we had sugar shawn o'malley and he took on marlon cheeto vera both guys came on the show recently and we're very grateful for that thank you very much um coming into this one you couldn't help but notice that a lot of the hype was around sean o'malley and for good reason you can see you know he's undefeated which is always great in terms of marketing and you know as we said when he came on the show guy's got tons of charisma he's got a good look you know he he looks like every rapper under the sun at the moment he's got the face tats but more importantly he can fight the man can fight right so there's a reason he was getting the hype now on the flip side you've got marlon vera who hadn't had the the same um you know run of success if you will he lost a couple of fights early in the ufc so that kind of probably affected how much stock the ufc initially gave him but he went on a 5-5 win stream with five stoppages lost a i would say [ __ ] decision to song yadong and that was at 145 by the way so he was on a five five five finnish streak at bantamweight and he got this fight against marlon barry now when the fight happened of course uh it was over really pretty much before it started well no it wasn't over um because it was near the end of the round right near the end of the round when the fight finished but there wasn't a lot happening and just when they started to really exchange a little bit that's when you know the beginning of the fight beginning of the end of the fight came obviously there was change exchanging cakes there was nothing particularly significant uh landed on either side really just kind of exchanging kicks taking their time having that feeling out process that you do and then o'malley appeared to be having problems with his ankle seems to be hopping all over the place certainly saw that you he couldn't put weight on it right and he was definitely having issues and then from there i think he slipped or whatever he went to his back vera jumped down malon vera chi cheeto as he likes to be called cheeto jumps on top of him and they were [ __ ] vicious elbows nasty nasty vicious elbows you know he could argue maybe her being stopped it a little too soon but regardless they were heavy [ __ ] elbows and he probably saw that o'malley was hurt on the leg and he stopped the fight and in fact baron will hear from vera later he says that he was out he said he went out he was snoring he went to sleep and if that is the case then yeah a beautiful stoppage but since then the the masses have been on the go are you sending that link by the way uh brian to the doctor because he's going to join us in a second i think but um um yeah people are coming out sitting with the peroneal nerve apparently cheeto vera kicked him in the leg on the knee which hit the peroneal nerve and i did a little googling about this and it can affect the sensation in the foot in the leg and things like that apparently that caused him to roll his ankle and that was the beginning of the end yeah so okay so now now wasn't o'malley saying that he had sort of a recurring injury in his foot um for a little while now as well well if you think back to that i think it was andreas sukhumv i think that's how you say it should come touch whatever anyway andreas saw someone say good luck with the head yeah yes i think it is that i think it is that yeah and the same thing happened there at the end of the fight he was led on the floor remember he did the uh the joe rogan interview in the octagon led on the floor do you know what i'm saying and that was an ankle injury then as well so yeah to answer your question yeah so um let me ask you and we'll ask cheeto this obviously when he comes on but does it feel any less satisfying from a fighter's perspective when you get a win like that where it's not you know where it seems like there's you know the you know sort of a freak accident um i guess chris weidman versus anderson silva comes to mind in their first fight where it was like you know it was his body hitting his body but at the same time it was you know 99.9 it doesn't end that way um is it less satisfying to get a win like that yes and no i mean for for cheeto vera he got the win and that's all that matters hold on we'll address that point later but as we see here look at this guy i mean he's a doctor he's a surgeon he's a wonderful generous man he's a good friend of mine as well this guy should be a tv doctor i mean look at look at this handsome devil here dr stephen mora joining us thank you sir we appreciate your time that's a great introduction i'm very happy that you read it just the way i wrote it thank you mike oh my pleasure but my pleasure not to mention uh extraordinaire no of course of course listen you don't listen to this podcast every week i'm always singing your praises dr moore was my uh he's operated on me many many times and my family members as well so uh then we thank you for joining us thank you very much mike thank you thank you very much honestly thank you so much i'm i'm honored i'm honored and humbled uh to be on your show seriously no no no it's very kind and not just me only so so some of the biggest fighters from orange county i mean there's a long list of them dr mora takes care of them all he's the man down here in orange county one of the best doctors in the world so we were just talking uh sir as we mentioned before uh o'malley versus cheeto vera at the weekend and then there's talk now of this peroneal i think that's how it's pronounced peroneal nerve that was damaged that potentially led to the finish or or the injury so it wasn't protect necessarily him rolling his ankle from a medical standpoint a is that possible and b can you just kind of talk us through it please yeah very much possible you know initially mike when i was watching the fight i actually thought uh the same as everyone else it seemed like uh like a typical ankle roll that athletes get you know the foot went uh inward inward and down which is what happens when uh your ligaments give or your ligaments tear such as while playing uh basketball but then uh what happened however if when we watch the footage later on and rewound there was a kick right to the lateral leg and um so what it sounds like happened was the kick to the lateral leg is what actually led to the weakness or compromise of the common perineal nerve so the comperance nerve is very similar to the funny bone nerve that's on the on the inside of your of your arm if you hit that that funny bone nerve which is actually the orange if you hit it just right uh you get a you know you get the zap down your arm and if you and if you damage it you can actually get motor dysfunction too so that funny bone nerve is susceptible just like the peroneal nerve is susceptible in the leg and it's susceptible right at the uh outer side of the knee right where uh it curves around the fibular head because the only thing that protects it is basically uh skin and a little fat so if you hit it just right you will damage the common perineal nerve or some people call it the common fibular nerve the component nerve controls probably two-thirds of the function of the of the leg and ankle so basically you lose the ability to evert your foot that means outward and you lose the ability to extend your foot and toes so what do you get what do you what what remains down and in and so you cannot lift your ankle up and you cannot keep it stable so basically it will look like an ankle sprain it will look like an ankle swing so essentially molly lost two thirds of his motor function probably at that moment and then maybe he maybe there was a strain afterwards because he basically put all his weight on it so it could also be a sprain on top of a nerve palsy that's really interesting so essentially and am i getting this wrong could you say that the peroneal nerve on the knee is kind of the leg equivalent of the funny bone or is that not accurate that's exactly right it's uh it's like the funny bone of the leg but of course it's uh there's nothing funny about it yeah yeah nasty but yeah you're right it is uh so if you hit it just right uh then uh then it will do the same thing as the funny bone or the ulnar nerve or the arm it's very similar they're both susceptible to injury because they're both up against bone they're both right up against bone you know not all nerves are up against bone so other nerves around your body if you smash them uh there's a there's a cushion behind the nerve but not the perineal nerve and not the ulnar nerve they are right up against the bone so if you hit them hard enough they're going to be knocked up against a hard object which is the bone and it's going to cause damage or usually it's temporary damage because it's you know it's a it's a kick with a lot of surface areas so it's probably just a temporary uh a weakness or temporary contusion most likely so let me ask you this and this seems like an obvious question to ask if that is the case and of course it is the case you know what you're talking about obviously in mma fights we kick we kick to the legs all the time why do you think we don't see this more often you know you're it's a good point and i think it just has to uh be because uh the area uh where the nerve is compromised or can be compromised it's a small area you know it's just a very small area and um and the cake has to be just perfect it has to be just perfect right the fibula it's a little bit uh lateral a little bit posterior and um and it was just like you know it was just one of those bad luck situations where it just got them just right you know it's uh usually with kicking you can you kick anywhere along the leg but but the nerve is susceptible in one little spot that's probably only about one inch by one inch uh area where it's susceptible and let me ask you a question so let's say you're you're in a fighter's corner in that moment you you see that this is sort of what happens you recognize that this happens is there anything that a fighter can do in that moment to either get through that pain or continue or is that just sort of like it is what it is you know you call it a day no they can uh they can probably recover just like when you hit your funny bone it takes about a couple of minutes you know for the for that zap and the numbness to go away it just takes a couple minutes so if you are uh managing or in the corner um keep the foot back and don't don't land on it because he put all his weight on it and he probably sustained a bad sprain afterwards and then then there's no going back so if you can protect it uh keep it maybe uh behind he tried to actually keep it in the back you know we saw how he he changed the stances a little bit and if you could uh do that maybe for a couple minutes and not uh get an injury on top of the injury then you could probably make it i mean i mean it depends on how hard the hit was you know i mean it all depends on how hard they hit we all know how it is when you get hit in the elbow sometimes it's a minor and sometimes it's you know you go like this for a long time so i think i think it's quite possible to uh to get past it actually or get through it yeah yeah i guess it's like if you try and hit your funny bone whenever you want you can't do it you know what i'm saying it's only every like i'm hitting my elbow right now it's not bothering my funny bone but just on the very rare occasion in the exact spot you're gonna have problems yeah twice a year you bump your elbow into a wall yeah [Laughter] yeah it's got to be i'm telling you man it's not uh cheetos kick uh was just at the right spot i mean you couldn't have gotten better uh or couldn't have asked for it to be any better and you know i know that uh people might uh study this and dissect it out you know trainers and and people that want to learn this i mean you just have to know your anatomy to be quite honest it's actually uh it's doable if that's what you want to do if you want to create some weakness if you study the anatomy you know where it's at uh then it's possible you know but of course people do check kicks uh but it's doable i mean if your strategy is to create a weakness you can find it it's not that hard to find but in the fight it's a whole different story now i i read that uh i guess the name of the injury we're talking about this before uh bisping that o'malley had in 2018 was a liz frank injury i guess he uh to he broke some bones in his foot um is there any way that the attack on that nerve could have reactivated that injury or had anything to do with that uh liz frank's injury uh is usually um you know it's it could have been um after the secondary injury that he probably sustained when everybody saw him put his weight on a on a foot that was down and in and he went like this so he could have actually created a liz frank's injury or a midfoot strain sprain is what it's called quite possibly actually because uh even whether or not he had a prior injury or not the way he landed on that foot uh is the way that you can get oh this is frank in 2018 so the way he landed do you think maybe that could have reintegrated that injury yes absolutely for sure or even just done it again i mean you know that's how you get liz frank's injuries actually you actually uh you step down and your foot buckles in like this which is kind of what happened so yes it's quite possible that he may have aggravated it if it was uh an area of compromise so you work with some of the biggest fighters if not all of them in orange county a lot of mma guys and i know you have tremendous respect for the sport you're a fan of the sport and you know you respect all the fighters what is the most common injury that you see in mixed martial arts fighters i'm assuming it's something to do with the knees because my knees are destroyed as we know and i have actually got the knee replacement scheduled for next week i'm dreading it but i know i'm in good hands with you guys but but what's the most common injury that you see you know the most common injury uh it's actually not the knee mic i mean people do get uh contusions and they get some meniscus tears uh sometimes you see bucket handle tears but the most common injury has to do with uh uh tears either pectoralis major tendon tears bicep tendon tears and um and that's probably the most common because you know for example when you're trying to defend the arm bar you know you're flexing your arm right but then you got the opponent that's trying to pull your arm apart uh so your muscles are so strong whether it's your pec or your biceps and someone's always trying to straighten that arm out so it actually rips the uh the tendon or the muscle right off the bone that's very very common and then of course something that i coined i called it the cauliflower elbow uh which is a condition that a lot of fighters have uh and i call it the cauliflower elbow with respect because the the cauliflower ears are obviously a sign of expertise and many many many years of mma right or wrestling so usually guys that have cauliflower elbow they have a loose bodies and they can't extend their elbow and when you do an x-ray their elbow actually looks like a 60 year old elbow or holder and there's actually a fix for it if you catch it early you can do capsular release and remove those bodies but that's probably one of the more common injuries as well as one more the night stick injury they used to call it a night stick injury where people would protect themselves like this from a night stick but now i see it very often where you guys go like this to protect from the head kick and you fracture your ulna tons of on the fractures i mean i've operated on a lot of them uh and that's actually and what's unique about the ulna fracture in mma is oftentimes the plate needs to be removed but in common folks like us if i if i fracture my ulna you don't need to remove it but with fighters because you're exposed to the same trauma over and over again oftentimes it's a good idea to remove the plate which is something unique to fighters which is something that i've learned the hard way actually through my through my work with mma fighters those are yeah as it relates to that what what is the and obviously with respect to your patients as well what's the worst injury you've seen that you could tell us about and fight it's really the fighters obviously well you know there's eye injuries are terrible right i mean you can ask easy doc easy dog come on lay off the straight for the jungle michael bisping has cauliflower eye that's a good one lewis that's a good one yeah he's definitely five power eye this weekend we saw that um but eye injuries are devastating i mean an eye injury like to a surgeon and it's devastating right but those are devastating injuries but you know um i mean there's a lot of injuries that are maybe not as devastating possibly like an acl tear you'd think oh not a big deal replace you know just reconstruct the acl but for fighters that need to be able to kneel or you know or be agile uh it could be a career ending you know so i mean you know devastating uh in this particular case i believe you're asking maybe uh you know like what's an injury that can be career ending uh almost any injury can be career ending but a joint injury is definitely a hard one to come back from especially the knee or the hip because that's what these guys have to use a lot uh you know but brain injuries are absolutely devastating you know i mean as far as bad injuries in terms of of life changing but i'd say knee injuries are pretty bad in terms of the sport so i've got them all i've got the eye yeah the cauliflowered elbows you you did the elbow on me a few years ago i was supposed to fight brother where to get as i've got the knees got the elbow got the eye i got the ears the only thing you don't have is the brain injury obviously you have no idea how how funny and bright michael bisping would if he didn't call that damage this is what did you think of the main event doc before we let you go talk to us about that how did you have that scored well you know uh i mean dc is a great guy uh i mean i have to tell you about the the work that these guys put in for uh all the rounds non-stop uh i mean they are both in great shape uh you you wouldn't think dc is in great shape because he doesn't look like it but you know it's very very hard to be in there for five rounds non-stop you know that was impressive and that was very very impressive you know the eye poke was bad when you look at it what as it happened but i but i think people probably noticed that his eye was already a little injured even before the big eye folk that's what i saw but but not to take away from the eye book it was bad um you know i mean they both look great you know i mean i'm not a judge i just i'm just happy that um you know i mean he's got a corneal injury uh hopefully hopefully he'll recover it's an injured cornea that should that should heal um but overall both guys look great absolutely great and sleepy looked like i mean the guy looked like he was in great shape don't you think his weight looked he looked good right oh stephen was uh i think that maybe the lightest he ever came in yeah i was i was concerned about that because obviously dc's game plan one would have thought would be to use his wrestling and take it down a lot but with him being so light it's easier to take people down but still his takedown defense was perfect yeah i'm surprised uh he didn't um you know you know i don't i don't pretend to be an expert in in technique or strategy but in terms of uh the output impressive extremely impressive you know i mean and the age i mean they're not young pups anymore you know neither one of them so i was impressed by that it made me feel good as if you know as an older guy knowing that uh we can still uh uh get out there and and do well yeah no we can we can all right don't worry listen we'll let you go we've got marlon cheater vera calling it in just a second you got a message for him no please please looked after me and my family for years you can say plug whatever you want that's what lewis does on here all lewis does is plug his own [ __ ] event so doc please go ahead what do i plug besides the relax podcast in legion of skanks whatever it's a joke bro i don't want to let people know that if they're interested in mixed martial arts injuries and orthopedics follow me on instagram i post a lot of cool videos and things that i i think are interesting for people and i try to present it in a way that's easy to understand uh because i think it makes a difference when people are educated and they know what they're dealing with when they go see the doctor they're already prepared so that's what i do with my with my instagram feed which is steve mora md yeah we'll make sure we put a link up while we're uh you know in post production but all right thank you so much we appreciate it thank you thank you so much just call me any time okay any time we arrive we'll be doing this regularly if you don't mind no not at all take care thank you amazing thank you sir appreciate it have a good one very cool very uh very interesting um yeah as i said on his instagram if you go to his instagram story he's all the time he does surge i mean i'm not sure how i feel about this if i'm getting sliced open i don't want the [ __ ] surgeon uh doing instagram videos but still either way they're fascinating they're very gory though so you gotta you know they're not for the faint-hearted but they they're very in-depth and they are very uh educational yeah i mean a lot of times when you hear about the stuff everything you hear about aclmcl everyone just sort of like there's this unspoken thing where everyone just sort of pretends to understand the scientific medical side of it more than anybody does like nobody really gets it but everyone talks very uh hcl yeah yeah that's a tricky one guys there's a trigger they have no idea no clue i have no idea the difference between acl mco whatever it is as i'm looking at this i wanted to actually have a few more minutes with him because i think i have this liz frank injury my [ __ ] foot is killing me i kick diego's [ __ ] elbow or kneecap or something and the whole top of my foot inside of my foot hurts like hell for three weeks straight now that's called a little boo-boo okay that's called you're going sparring and when you kick things and they hurt and you know when you kick hard things you hurt yourself and when you're not accustomed to it right you will hurt yourself more you could kick a bag and it's going to hurt your shins but eventually it won't okay it's called conditioning your shins you got to condition the body you got to condition those by one of those little bones the metatarsals i'm assuming it is uh you've kicked an elbow or something and it's you've got a little boo-boo bless you but you'll be able to it hurts like [ __ ] hell how am i supposed to train and get myself better if i have this [ __ ] nagging boo-boo you're supposed to ice it rice there you go rest ice compression elevation did say rice yeah rice rest compression elevation what is it an anagram algorithm what is that it is an anagram but i thought you just said yes i bet you combined rest in ice and one word you just gotta write it baby we're just gonna erase it yeah no no check out the docs instagram we'll put a link up here because it is fascinating as i say if you're interested in that type of stuff you will definitely learn a lot he's a great guy uh yeah we'll get into the main event in a little bit how long until cheetah joins us we've got 10 minutes what should we talk about lewis um i mean look talk a little bit about where maybe cheeto goes because yeah we're going to talk to him obviously um obviously massive win oh no sorry sorry pardon me you were just asking before the dog joined us how oh yeah would i feel about and it was a good question yeah do you feel less do you feel like that's less of a legitimate victory when a guy gets sort of a freak accident and the doctor honestly we explained it it's even more of a freak accident than we were sort of initially sort of talking about yeah the way he explained it is more of a freak accident but also it comes as a direct result of cheeto throwing that kick and it is rare that's why i asked him i didn't mean to put him on the spot i was like well why don't we see that very often but then i thought you know when you're banging your funny bone you as you said you might do it twice to you don't do it very often if you try and bang your funny bone you can't you know what i mean it just it's very i'm i'm doing it now i'm trying to bang my funny bone but you are being you are you are having kicks checked and being kicked way more often than you're banging your elbow into tables and walls you know if you're sparring just one sparring session one good day of sparring if you're going in i mean how many times are you being kicked how many times are you kicking so it is substantially more you would assume that was actually a great question and i don't know that i'm completely satisfied with the fact that it's you know the analogy of banging your arm into the wall only because you're only banging your wall your arm under the wall a few times a month maybe right so then but i i try and do it zero times a month but you know what i mean to argue with the great doctor jesus christ have a bit of respect it's somebody sliced open at the moment it's just taking 10 minutes to come and join us he's going to go back to surgery now you're going to you're going to discredit what he says no to answer your question what you said um in terms of uh vera listen you won the fight and when you're going out there as a competitor it doesn't matter yes of course you want to win by an emphatic knockout or you want to get a beautiful submission and show your display of technique but ultimately it doesn't matter as long as you get the win right he obviously beats o'malley it's a massive scallop his undefeated guy he had all the hype etc etc but the main thing is getting the win because you're a competitor and you want to win now of course you want to win fair and square you don't want to win by some weird uh you know cert maybe this example where people are going to talk because people are i'm sure i haven't been online and checked maybe you have harrington because i know you lurk the reddits and things like that um but i'm sure the o'malley supporters they say no he um he tripped his ankle he rolled his ankle so therefore he couldn't fight so that fight doesn't win yeah okay technically it's a win or not she does record but you know the real fans know what's up well that's not the case and as the doctor just said he threw that kick the kick had consequences the consequences were the rolled ankle and then he [ __ ] finished him so from cheetos perspective that was a solid win it was a good win and he should accept that accordingly you know and i feel that that the mma masses should also do that but i don't think they will harrington do you happen to know have you seen any whispers any murmurs what are people saying online uh well i was actually trying to find this uh while you guys were talking to the doc i did see one post on reddit that was very clear this is not a fluke it's something that uh he has targeted before he's consistently looking uh you know to disable fighters looking for that shot to the knee and it's not the first time he's done this so i think he's getting the credit he deserves and people are kind of happy to see o'malley lose really you think people are happy to see o'malley lose i feel like o'malley first of all i really like o'malley i like cheetos as well i mean honestly that we we had a hard time talking about this fight and giving pictures we didn't even give pics honestly that's why i never gave pics because i know a lot of people i saw in their youtube comments were like where's the pics i'm like well i can't do that because o'malley uh joined us twice now vera chitoper has joined us a few times and i train with cheeto i'm seeing pirillo all day long so i didn't want to disrespect either guy you know so it was a very difficult one i will have more balls next time but i feel like o'malley has so much hype people love him i i you know i guess sometimes when the hype train is derailed people like sort of seeing spoiler especially after the fact i think people are like look it's all hype um but i always got the sense sorry guys there's just a lot of dominicans in my neighborhood um having a party outside i don't know if you can see i see others okay i didn't hear a thing oh yeah it's a lot of music um but yeah i i feel like um o'malley has a massive fan base and to be honest with you you know o'malley likely will compute this and go you know what freak accident wouldn't happen again and maybe it won't [ __ ] with his confidence that much because you are undefeated you you suffer your first loss i'm assuming that's got to be a massive mind [ __ ] and i remember i was there for your first loss ever against uh rashad evans i counted you i hey i remember the time being like michael bisping just won that fight but either way bisping your first loss um you know from from o'malley's perspective and i can't i shouldn't speak for him but i will he he probably won't accept that as a loss i doubt that and that's the way and human beings do that and i feel like our egos kind of have a way of automatically doing it right you look for a way to justify what happened and he doesn't need to look very hard right he can say and he can argue and he would probably stand there and say to uh stephen moore the good doctor said no that kicked it [ __ ] the kid that you're talking about nah i didn't even feel it i rolled my [ __ ] ankle that's what he'd say so he has you know a built-in defense and who knows maybe that is correct may maybe we can hypothesize that it was the cake that caused that or he could stand and said no that kick did [ __ ] off didn't hit my [ __ ] peroneal nerve perineal however the hell you say said that wasn't you know so he has a built-in excuse reason whatever he has to get out of jail card so to speak so for o'malley as well i don't think his stock particularly will drop that much either no i mean especially if cheetos star continues to rise right so that you know star will continue to rise that's a fact because he you know as i said before he's he's on a roll right now certainly at bantamweight that's six wins six stoppages in a row at bantamweight songy dong was at 145 and you know look at perilla pirillo is a new guy that he started working with perilla's got a good track record i'll tell you what jason pillow's good at he's good at taking good fighters really good fighters that have a good team already around them and then turning those good fighters into champions you know what i'm saying that's what perilous skill is i mean look at him he's got a track record b.j penn tito ortiz myself chris cyborg i mean there's a few others as well and now it seems that he's really teamed up with cheetah vera and as i said cheeto very i don't want to disrespect his other coaches either uh colin oyama is fantastic he's got a great jiu jitsu coach he works with daryl christian he's got a lot of good coaches but so so they're all doing a fantastic job and jason will obviously clean up the boxing side of things but he'll do work on the brain on the mind on that side of things and that's what takes a really good fighter and turns them into the champion the champion mindset that the champion mentality knowing how to deal with the fear and the anxiety and the nerves of fighting you know and once you take care of that you become a better fighter i talk about it all the time uh just trying to fill time we've got two more minutes okay well it's kind of funny because um i was wondering if uh o'malley had released some sort of statement to to sort of back up what you were saying and to see if he was he has not oh he did oh please tell me pull up the instagram post it's actually kind of funny um and yeah maybe a little different than we thought that he would have um been posting so apparently here brian you could pull this up in the meantime uh he posted an instagram post with him with two hot chicks playing video games and smoking weed with the caption humbled huh here it is right here pretty funny good for him hold on you said two hot chicks i see one chick looking at us you can't even see it oh you can see a bit of her ass okay fair enough all right he's got a joint in his mouth he's playing video why has he got an eye patch on i don't know i have no idea does he look at it i don't know he had something over one eye i thought he had sunglasses um yeah listen it is what it is he's a young man 12 on one now so what you've got to deal with dust it off you get back in there he's still got a very bright future still got a massive following still got tons of potential and star power uh that hasn't changed he had a bad loss listen those elbows that cheater landed were [ __ ] nasty when you lost to rashad your first ever loss professional loss ever and it was really close split decision right um yeah did you make those excuses were you like no i didn't lose did you kind of go out did you mentally were you still thinking you were like undefeated or i obviously made the change you moved down to 185 pounds that was a big move in your career but yeah it was right after that fight i believe right yeah no no no it was i you know i remember um trying to justify it to myself now the fight was close i did feel that i won that fight so from that regard i didn't feel bad but i kept because you know with my background and where i came from and now i'm starting to find ufc main events and the money's coming in you know and i i i earn some really good money for that fight and earn some good money for the fights before that as well and i remember i had the checks in my bag you know but now they wire it straight into you but back in the day you gotta give them [ __ ] checks you know i got those checks in my hand i remember sitting at the bar uh and rebecca and her mum were there they'd flown out towards the fan i'm sitting at the bar and rebecca's mum was like you know trying to you know say nice things i'm off you know i didn't swear there's no [ __ ] about fighting you're like shut up i'm like shut the [ __ ] up michael you should have powered the job more footwork better sprawl i might seriously seriously no no no no no no i remember saying to her oh well i'm crying all the way to the bank right and that's the way i justified it that i wasn't bothered i'm earning money and i'm doing well but certainly as a competitor you want more than that you don't just want the cash yeah that's great you want to be a success you want to do well but you want to continue to be a success and when the loss is coming that could be the beginning of the end of the success you're living your dream but then you have to be realistic and be like all right well my dream wasn't precisely this like i wasn't trying to lose in that dream yeah yeah yeah i want the cast but i want the fame and the glory and the belt and the hall of famers ching got it behind me but that's what you want right but i would justify and i try and make myself feel better by saying oh i'm crying all the way to the bank now of course when you get home and you're by yourself and you you're you're alone with your thoughts yeah of course you're depressed and then i i dropped out to 185 and made some changes uh some other great fights on the card while we wait for cheeto to join us we'll just talk about this one because i put a little video on my instagram explaining it uh vince uh no where was it where was it uh pineda pineda that was a really fun fight dude second fight of the night uh i was going to put in a bet with harrington because harrington was in a state where he could take a bet and i was gonna bet on pineda in that fight and i'm such a fan of gilbert burns um i wasn't super familiar with herbert burns's body of work but i know he has a lot of hype coming into him but there was just something about pineda this grizzled vet who just made his way we have voices from the world who is that harrington or is that someone joining us cheetoh my man there he is i was i'm a [ __ ] [ __ ] i told you send me my i was on my text message and then it was in my emails oh my bad it's okay it's okay but hey listen you had a big win of the weekend no and you texted me yesterday morning said i'm still hungover now uh so listen hey good for you buddy uh it's all it's all it's all our coach full oh throwing him under the bus straight away hey lizzy i can certainly believe it you know i saw on on your story you were we was that back at the hotel but it looked like you had your wife and your kids you know the whole family there right that's amazing yeah i i have them driving on wednesday i put them in a couple blocks away from me but i didn't see them until after the fire but just knowing they're around i can fight better somehow yeah no absolutely that's how it was for me you know uh every one of my fights i look at the camera i used to kiss my glove and i was always directed at my wife and she knows that that's a screensaver on the phone a little bit gay a little bit a little bit softer there apologies welcome to the show marlon massive massive win for you at the weekend buddy uh how you feeling talk us through it i'm feeling i'm feeling great bro i'm uh i'm i i did what i was supposed to do they work for that i didn't ask for any favors and i pushed myself harder than the day before and i make sure i i keep on track and i check on myself weekly like i'm not a person that you know i'm i'm here and there every week i see the scale i'm like i see where i push myself i mark one to check my workouts and i'm like okay like down the slack you know nobody's gonna do it for you and if you start believing your own thing and you start drinking too much your own kool-aid you're gonna get [ __ ] up you know coming into the fight you know sean o'malley being undefeated he had so much hype so much hype did you feel at all like you were missing out on some of that hype uh i'm gonna be honest with you i said this already in previous injuries i wasn't paying attention to no [ __ ] team but to be this guy i wasn't paying attention who talks about me or who she is for me at the end of the day they only care about the guy that wins the fight it doesn't matter who's been hyped who's being not hype or whatever you know you know how the score is you know they can hype in somebody else the minute you want oh but this guy is also great so you know it's how the game works so i know how to play the game pretty well yeah well listen we had him on you i don't know if you saw it we had him on the podcast a couple of weeks ago or last week i think and you know he was very gracious with his time but but i was trying to be respectful i was trying to warn him basically i was like don't [ __ ] take my lungs very lightly bro i mean like he was he was talking about the fight to you know he was confident and everybody has to be confident but do you feel like you were being overlooked by a lot of people in this fight because i was like [ __ ] marlon's got a really good chance of winning this fight how did you feel do you feel you were getting the respect you deserve i was i was getting in there for a war i was getting in there for for make him fight i'm not very satisfied i was running away and then clip you when you're coming back that's part of the game you know fighters like him they don't they don't come and fight they they set traps for you they're pretty good at that and then if you're coming mad because of the [ __ ] talk or what's going to do build around [ __ ] so i make a favor to myself stay calm i stay stay on my line work hard and when it was when it was fight time you know there's nothing there's no more words guess who was talking inside the cage i was talking inside the cage i was telling him like oh that hurt oh now you're going live oh you're going right i was like oh really i never i never noticed that oh that's great i was reading every single thing and i'm talking something hey you are gonna see everything don't you worry about nothing don't you don't you go don't don't try to overdo things just just see everything and i was like okay period i see everything once i see everything he was done so so we we just had um michael's doctor on the show just before and we were talking just sort of about the the the medical side of um what happened in that fight were you looking for uh the knee attack because this is harrington actually brought this up before that you you've been you've been people have noticed you attacking the knees before is that something that you had planned out i so since jon jones started attacking the oblique i'm in love with that technique i know it's kind of i'm i'm a dark for like that because that's dangerous but you know it's a fight game i'm trying to hurt you i'm really trying to to make yourself damage and then then when the kafka start getting popular dude there's a lot of things soft in there like it's like people like everybody want to punch everybody in the face in the jaw there's a lot of body to punch there's legs there's everything so i i want to hurt you and then i do believe i'm a strong kicker like he kicked me pretty hard but when i kick him the first kick that lands his nerve went away like cormier said before there is levels and there's also levels for the power you know you have a big right hand but how you throw the right hand when somebody's chopping you out so it's a it's a game of interest he did land a good punch on me he did learn but you know god bless me with a good job with a with a with a good preparation and the better my cardio is the more air i got in my brain the better for me well somebody lied that with that body frame tall lean long skinny legs for one of a better word um leg kicks are always you know an option to do that they're always something you want to attack to try and chop them down certainly on mali he moves a lot as well so was that part of the game plan coming into this fight he was part of the game gambling you know chop the legs put the pressure but i didn't think they were expecting me kicking kicking him in the head the way i did you know i when i throw that head kick i i i stumbled him and he was like oh these are coming through heaven and i'm like yeah buddy i can throw everything you throw what are you thinking i'm i'm another punk your friends and i wanna feed my family i wanted more than you and i said it before i wanted more than him and i i own that whirling i really i do want it more than these guys i'm gonna go in there and i'm gonna fight the hardest i can did you see on the countdown show his trainer was saying listen if uh pirillo and those guys are telling him uh that he can stand with o'malley they're lying to him and all the rest did you see that comment and how did that make you feel i i didn't saw it because i don't like to pay attention to the build up to the fight if i'm there i'm a huge ufc fan so every time they put a batteries countdown i watch every single thing uh i told you before i was watching your stuff when like like the documentary your owner it was pretty [ __ ] cool but when i'm on it i don't like to watch it i'm like i'm bad i'm there i don't want to watch myself but when perilla told me like hey that [ __ ] was saying like that that calling of myself that we're giving you a false sense of confidence i was like oh this [ __ ] is putting the coaches in his mouth okay so now he's not gonna pay for one and i pay for two now and that was like i was i was like you know talk talk talk guess what i'm pretty good at talking [ __ ] just because i don't use it often doesn't mean that i'm [ __ ] you know i'm not good at that so i feel he he [ __ ] up just by calling me out he [ __ ] up so how do you feel now because obviously there's some people out there that might say oh he rolled his ankle right that's why he lost the fight and i don't know if o'malley's saying that o'malley uh hasn't really came out and given a statement as such but what would you say to any of the critics out there or the o'malley fanboys that were like oh no that fight doesn't count he rolled his ankle because hey by the way i'm not saying that that was a solid wheel it was a first round knockout over an undefeated uh prospect and a star so [ __ ] job well done but what would you say to the people that said that they can all suck big full blood they can all go and [ __ ] yourself mike i don't give a [ __ ] about people opinion i only care about couple opinions and those are like my wife my mom my dad my my sister my brother my even my kids they're like i'm like hey like did you like daddy haircut like things like that the rest of the world you know can eat [ __ ] like my coaches the people that is close to me my my the friends that that love me that i know they love me those are the opinions i'm looking for the rest of the world they can say whatever they want at the end of the day is they're not in my mind they're not in my circle and i just appreciate the ones that are in our side the positive that's what i said before i absorb all the positivity from people i don't absorb negativity i don't i don't get any dire things in me i already have enough of that [ __ ] myself so i use i use work for for a better me and i surround myself with people i believe they want me to succeed but that's that's great that you do that but it's not always that easy i mean so what do you do if you go online and you see comments that are [ __ ] negative and all the rest of it do you just ignore them do you block them delete them or just try and not even read them i really i look it's impossible not to read them because you you you gotta you gotta open the social media you open it for for make a post with your kids or maybe the parts of the fight and of course you just crawl a little bit you read good and bad but when i read something bad it's it's weird like i believe that's a blessing i i i there's there's no feelings going through when i read that but then when i read somebody like hey good job and then i see guys like yourself giving me props i'm like it doesn't feel my heart it's just making me feel cool make me feel good make motivate me to push myself harder but then when somebody's like [ __ ] you [ __ ] your family your kid look like eggs wait and see i'm like good for you i don't care but don't get me wrong you say that across the street i'm gonna change your eyes until i [ __ ] do like you i'm gonna draw you exactly there's nothing go ahead there's nothing you can do do you ever notice that because when we've talked about this before do you ever notice fans challenging you in a weird way like you ever meet drunk fans and they they try to either show that they have balls or they or they see if they can push your buttons uh not face to face and online the little bit the ring i read i believe sometimes they want to be offensive so they make you feel bad but dude it's very hard to make me feel bad you know i can say very [ __ ] up things tell my friends to people like in a way that i can feel bad when somebody say something to me but in face to face somebody disrespect me i'm not talking i'm slapping you yeah yeah and then like look this happened today this morning i get a treadmill as a sponsor and the guy you know the truck guy look at me and he's like you're the guy huh and i was like what are you talking about he's like and he says you [ __ ] oh what's going on here and i started like getting ready just in case and then they guys like i bet three grand and i lost bro you [ __ ] badass i'm [ __ ] idiots you bet three grand against me you're a moral homie that goes back to what we were saying at the start of the show right lewis because he was we were taught lewis had involved in some kind of stupid fire the weekend he was asking me about fights i'm like dude i never really used to get into fights certainly not now and people ask me all the time do you get people coming up to you trying to start [ __ ] just like lewis asked you a second ago and no i mean look at cheeto right he was on tv at the weekend he's got [ __ ] tattoos on his neck he's the last person you're gonna start a fight with the same as me the only people that would come up and say anything to me if they were tough guys they just wanted to give respect and say hey man great fighter whatever excellent career anyway enough of that i want to talk to you let's go back to the ufc stuff so coming into that fight o'malley was ranked number 14 i believe uh and he's still ranked there now but it's monday morning the rankings are gonna change no doubt you're gonna take that number 14 ranked spot so who do you want next obviously first round no damage ready to go again asap but there's a lot of big names up there i mean who've you got your eye on there i will i will say jimmy roberta has to be next you know we were supposed to fight uh the eighth of this month and then when o'malley started choosing eddie one of the years he was like what a minute of miley's calling him out in every single uh chance he have so they give him what he want he definitely get it and then now i'm gonna call somebody that's gonna be ranked higher like i will say this as a personal advice he's an idiot for call somebody outside the rank if he took my spot when they robbed me with sonja don they gave him my run i was like okay cool check it what you have now i'm going to work my way back now i beat him i'm going to take his spot and i believe i might go a little higher because all the hype because this is about hype the the who who make the rankings is a popularity contest if you beat the golden pony like that you give me some love in there and then jimmy rivera should be next well it seems like you're very conscious of it right so o'malley has all this hype you beat him uh first round tko this is a you know massive massive opportunity all eyes are on you now do you feel that pressure even more now that you beat somebody with so much hype uh not at all man i'm excited i'm motivated and none of that external things live with me i'm just i'm just a grinder man i wake up every morning uh knowing i have to do work to do and the rest is it's cool don't get me wrong it's [ __ ] good to have the attention because that's gonna make me money that's gonna give me exp sponsors exposure so it's awesome i'm happy i have all that [ __ ] but i'm not really paying attention to that like i'm gonna get advantage but the the main the main priorities is keep working keep grinding and absolutely keep getting better because he was talking so much wild [ __ ] that dude if that guy would beat me the way he beat those other guys he was already calling out conor mcgregor he was he he was going back and forth with with cody garvin with peter yan and in my opinion this is just my opinion i'm a [ __ ] you don't have to listen to me but if you are top five which is garbage top five and you are the champ in peter yen when the [ __ ] do you answer to this morning which is in in rank number 14 like they were answering to him by by answering him now you're making hide behind that so if you will beat me he was next in line for a maybe tarot shot yeah that's how things work in this game you will see this uh mma journalists they're the they're fanboys sometimes they're like hey i think he's next you know and the ufc make it happen because there's money behind but well did that bother you when he was sort of looking back and he was legitimately looking past you he's having conversations online with cody garbrandt um did that bug you at all that he was just not seeming to respect you i was happy i was happy he was focusing different things because there's no way you can focus on so many things in life like my grandpa used to say you got to put things in your hand and you got to be able to close your feet if you have too much everything's going to fall to the ground so when i see him talking or somebody will send me the tweets i was like awesome keep paying attention to her things you're going to get [ __ ] up kid and that's what happened like when i have a fight with let's see with you and somebody talks [ __ ] to me they're saying i don't give an answer to that guy i have nothing to do with the guy if i see that guy in the streets again i'm going to punch him but if i have a fight lining up that's all i have in my mind that's all that is in everywhere it's all about the next fight i don't i don't lose struggle focus on that no matter what so what's the relationship with sean like now did you guys get to speak backstage are you guys cool is it water under the bridge how's things now i'm i'm gonna this is the this is the honesty thing respect and i respect before and after the fight you're not my friend during my work class i might fight you later you might you might be you know in front of me in order to me to achieve what i want so i need to we're enemies until we're retired i know i don't i'm not [ __ ] making friends my friends are in the gym my friends are you know you are my friend [ __ ] all those guys well that's the way to be unfortunate you can't make friends certainly when guys in the same weight division that's when people bring up rock hold to me all the time i'm retired now i don't give a [ __ ] anymore i have nothing about him but when i was fighting he was my weight class of course he was the enemy um so marlon that puts you on at bantamweight six fight win streak six stoppages in a row which is [ __ ] unbelievable obviously peorian he's the new champ he had a good fight against jose aldo recently how do you see yourself matching up with peoria because obviously that is the goal yeah um i i look i think he's a tough guy he's durable but i i feel people fighting one way like until now everybody that fight with him is the right hook for right hook and that's not the way i fight so you know i feel i feel so i feel i can much well with him but guess what i need to beat couple guys in order like let's see maybe if i fight if i fight hit next fight maybe it's a let's see it's an easy fight for me it doesn't matter i need to beat two guys before that or one guy whatever but so i need to focus on what's next i do believe i can beat him but guess what i need to beat other people first yeah no no totally agree you know we just had dr mora on i'm sure you know dr mora yeah of course yeah he did my elbows yeah yeah no he's the man he's he works on everybody i've done many surgeries on me he was on before because i wanted to ask him because you know there's the story going around that when you kicked on molly in the leg that hurt his peroneal nerve and that's why he rolled his ankle so i wanted to get a medical professional on here to see if that stacks up and he watched the fight closely he watched it saturday night and he watched it back again and he just said in here earlier he said yeah exactly 100 is that when you bang your funny bone and then you know you're going to get that weird feeling that's exactly what happens in your legs so you know i mean obviously how does that make you feel hearing that i mean must be satisfying to shut up all the haters because coming from an official channel like that you know you can't argue with science i'm gonna be a hundred percent honest when i kick his leg you you know it's come from there like i thought it was from when i checked his kick but yeah same thing it was it was either i turned the kick or right here but when i watch the fight and i see my shin landing on his and on the back of his knee there's nothing you can do you're you're you're he's getting uh he's like getting a lefty a left hook in the jaw you're going now good night yeah so it's the same thing like oh so let let's pray like that if i will left hook him in the jaw what what the hell is going to say like oh it's because he's jokingly with your punch go on [ __ ] yourself all right okay so what's the rest of the week look like because i was with you not too long ago in jacksonville you thought song you don't then which you know in my opinion you won that fight which i know you know you're pissed off about that then you just trained and fought and won another fight of the weekend what's going on now you're gonna take a bit of a break vacation kids back at school back in the gym what are you doing uh today i took you know i've been i would put a swing here in the patio as you can see right here it looks beautiful baby i've been i've been here all morning just be getting air thinking getting my mind right you know you know doing a couple interviews and then tomorrow i'm going i'm going back to conditioning you know i'm gonna leave some weights i'm gonna get my my body sore again and then on thursday i do conditioning again on sunday running shoes are on 13 miles on monday i'm back to the gym do you never take a break because that's impressive because for me if i had a big fight i'd well it wasn't that easy for me because i lived a long way away from the gym but do you never like take a couple of weeks off a few weeks off like i was telling my wife uh maybe the weekend we we we rent a little a little house and we go to joshua tree or something like that we're planning that that that can happen but if we don't find nothing concrete i just go back to the gym and then in in the following weeks if if something pop up we do it but we we don't we don't we we don't do too much like we go to the beach we hung with the kids i i really want to ask the kids what do you guys want to do what you guys want from me so before i jump in a serious camp i make you happy before that so it's not about me anymore and i feel if i can surf a couple times a week that's my get away yeah so i i'm still young enough that i can go back to the gym without being annoying so and then believe it or not i'm kind of itching for a sweat i think i i'm not like a fully like i just want to train and fight i'm you know a spark that's not my team i want to be fit the whole year that's that's my thing more than anything all right one final question from me uh and this is an old one that i used to ask fighters on my old show and i just remembered it's a great question i i want to know what you are going to answer to this you get one choice a genie you you rub a magic clamp and a genie comes out world championship or world peace you only get to choose one what was the other one world champion or world championship or world peace big question if you ask me he said world championships bro i got dreams i got dreams dude and let's be real with all these [ __ ] pricks around the world there's no [ __ ] [Music] yeah hey listen you can't argue with that because you're right because they'll make world peace and then a week later they'll be back at it again anyway oh dude oh who's gonna take over this country oh i thought it was mine no [ __ ] you boom boom boom bombs again [ __ ] that yeah i get my war title you got your title real quick so you're representing the country of ecuador on the ufc world stage i mean how is that you're getting a lot of love back in ecuador someone was telling me that your facebook pages millions and millions of likes likes from ecuadorians dude it's it's it's wilding i i when i start my career when it was when it was 60 people saying congratulations i used to answer to every single one now it's it's impossible to ever to respond in one day to that amount of people it's like please don't stop people is crazy they love what i'm doing they love they like how i'm doing it and every fight it's like thousands of thousands joining and joining and it's just it's just crazy and i are to make sure i represent it right because there's it's easy to do run so i try to keep myself together so they can have a motivation outside the country yeah well you're flying the flag sean malley was flying the flag as well in the her you took care of that you put him to bed marlon we thank you for joining us buddy really really appreciate it i know you're busy i know you just fought you want to spend time with the family so on behalf of both of us we do appreciate it buddy and we can't wait to appreciate and i've been looking up to you for a while and i appreciate these talks with you and and your partner because it's pretty big for me you know it's it's good to have that uh that type of conversation uh in these times right now yes all right now i appreciate it but all the best thanks again thank you bro see you soon the one and only marlon cheeto vera uh yeah dude really good guy and i look i like o'melli as well obviously he's such a nice guy as well he came on the show but i really like marlon you could tell he's a good guy whenever somebody's a you know what it is dude i just connect with a family guy i think a little bit more than like a young rising star with the whole world ahead of him this guy's got three kids he's you know he you know i'm really happy for him he seems really really happy and hopefully he does there's an opportunity now with this hype to just really jump up to the next level so i hope he does yeah and he's a guy that's you know he's very confident in his abilities but he's not really talking [ __ ] you know what i mean he's keeping it to the parameters of the fight saying i'm going to win this fight he's not talking about people personally he's confident in his ability and as you heard that he said one of the things that he said which was interesting is like hey water under the bridge whatever it is dude i'm fighting if i you know if you're in my weight class you're an enemy until i retire and i think that was very honest and a very interesting way to sort of put an umbrella over all of the [ __ ] talk you go like hey there's nothing personal here we are enemies we are going to go to war one day possibly he very very very well may have a rematch against sean o'malley i'm sure the o'malley camp would love to get to run that back at one point i'm sure that's something that will be on his mind for the rest of his career if it doesn't run back so yeah absolutely i'm sure if o'malley lives up to the star potential that it has and becomes you know and i'm sure he will you know one loss isn't necessarily a setback oh man he's still got a bright future it is what it is you dust yourself off you get back on it and if he gets back on the horse and starts having success i'm sure yeah that rematch probably will present itself anyway moving on thanks to cheeto bear thank you to dr maura uh but the main event let's get into this one the main event remember you can say i'm sorry i have to i have to jump in here i'm sorry it's a big deal don't be sorry say it stop apologizing for what you're about to say make it a longer pod just say it i'm sorry for apologizing don't apologize don't apologize for apologizing just say it jon jones breaking news just relinquished his title at late heavyweight whoa no no no no no no yeah don't apologize for that that's about the point i want you to interject how'd you not have said that afterwards i would have said what the [ __ ] are you doing if you really brought down this main event we had pontificated on what was next and will john jones fight this guy and all the rest of it and you're like oh yeah by the way an hour ago he relinquished the ufc light heavyweight title what are you reading louise just read it to me don't worry this is just got off the phone with at ufc today i confirmed that i am vacating the light heavyweight championship it's officially up for grabs it's been an amazing journey sincere thank you to all of my competition ufc and most importantly you fans well guess what guess what that [ __ ] makes sense because a little fly on the wall a little birdie little bird he tells me it's not circle of truth no it's outside the circle you know this is outside the circle so what is outside this circle is outside the circle you know no i can talk about this some guy that i told you i did that random interview with a guy from poland last week i'll tell you that yeah anyway he's an mma journalist from poland who knows jan blehovich he was obviously polish and he messaged me this morning and said hey yamblahovic versus dominic reyes interim title but if john jones is vacated then that would mean proper title now because i'm assuming that's when they thought he was on the sidelines oh you've thrown a a wrinkle into our discussions here our plans are or or our train of thought our direction on the show we were going to go to that but now it's jon jones all day it has to be we can't ignore this we can speculate you know harrington please chime in here because you're the one who did dm me that news thank you very much you've probably read a little bit more about it at this point uh he says he will come back in heavyweight if the ufc gets the money right uh he also i read somewhere i just in googling just now that he said he's gonna stay in the usada testing pool for the time being is this sort of a move like a monday mcgregor move which is well well i would say the fact that he's staying in the usada testing pool obviously great news for john jones fans ufc fans and ufc the reality is we all want john jones in the ufc he's the greatest fighter we've had and it would be a shame to see him make some money like he has because regardless of whatever his stance is with the ufc fighters always want more uh businesses always want to make more all right we'll leave that there i'm not getting involved with it with uh the finance side of it's none of my business and i don't know the numbers involved but i do from what i'm led to believe now that john's earned a lot of money over the course of his career if he was to go you know enjoy himself which he can do he's had a legendary career in fact nobody could could uh i don't think anyone's had a better career than john jones won the bell defended it [ __ ] what 12 13 times won it back again of daniel cormier he's his resume is out of the control so he could easily go and retire and go spend his money put his feet up do something else but we don't want that we want to see him in the ufc so that's good that is still part of the usada testing pool i think after seeing uh dc you know not win saturday night and then he started tweeting straight away right he started tweeting at stephey i think started talking about in ghana i mean what was the circumstances of that harrington because i know he was tweeting saturday night who did he tweet at well he started it off uh by saying that the heavyweights didn't look that big that night that's it he threw his support for daniel cormier heading into the fight uh and just made it very clear that he would like to move up and he can see himself challenging and winning uh the heavyweight championship sooner than people would expect yeah that's right because he said these heavyweights don't look that big to me and then obviously he's looking at dc who he beat dc twice and then dc gave stipe a [ __ ] hell of a fight on saturday night gave him a hell of a fight in the second and knocked him out in the first one so i'm thinking all points all signs are leading pointing directing to the visions are telling me the circular what is it the crystal ball i'm telling you right now go to whatever bet inside john jones fighting for the heavyweight title pretty soon i agree um saying that no dana said saturday night it's uh francis saying yeah that could change you know or look here's the thing i don't think that jon jones is retiring i think this is a move and this is another tweet he said i last spoke the last i spoke with at ufc about my salary there was no negotiating if that ever changes i'd love to come back and compete as a heavyweight until then i'll be enjoying uh what was the date of that tweet i'm not sure harrington let me know uh when that was so immediately after he wrote that was the next tweet after he relinquished the belt so here's the thing he's doing a hard ta it's a negotiating tactic we've watched conor do this time and time again we watch fighters professional athletes the fact that he's staying in the usada testing pool tells me that he's not really retired i know when i said this being when michael piston retired he said i'm going out of the usada testing pool to get back in when you retired i said i want all the steroids that i didn't take off the course of my career i want everything vito belfort was on i'm dan henderson i want it all put together in a part and i'm gonna get dr mora to make a little concoction didn't work had the opposite effect i got fat and gray hairs but still these balls knees fell to pieces i'm like this is not what steroids are supposed to do no exactly exactly to your point when i retired i said yes take me out of the usada pool to protect me from myself right i've said it time and time again i would have taken a short notice fire if you stay in the usa testing pool you're gonna sign up still to a guy showing up at your house at five o'clock in the [ __ ] morning and disrupting your entire morning for a few hours if you're still gonna do that that means you're still going to fight just using using my detective hat i will say that i think jon jones is just negotiating he's using this to shovel in the series he's also using it to get fanfare behind him because enough people tweet enough people want to see it look it's a business the ufc dana white and company they want the fans to buy pay-per-views so jon jones is just playing a different card right now he's negotiating behind the closed doors it didn't work out the way that he wanted to so now he's just going with a different method right now i i mean i think we're going to see jon jones compete at heavyweight probably for the heavyweight title before the end of the year if i had to guess yeah not for sure i'd say that this means he's moving up to heavyweight that's what i really think this means because go on you want to say do you think he should get an immediate title shot at heavy weight or do you think he should have to test himself at heavyweight yeah well i was going to say uh he's moving up because he's done everything he needs to at light heavyweight he's beaten everybody for crying out loud he's beating new generations he's gone through multiple generations of fighters to back in the day when it was your shoulders and your rampages then it was your machida's now his [ __ ] uh your reyeses and your tiago santos's you know what i mean he's beating everybody and what's he gonna do just stay at light heavyweight forever until eventually somebody can beat him because of course somebody always comes along there's always somebody bigger about it a bigger badder and better than you like my mom used to tell me i used to get into a lot of fights michael god's sake michael god day one day you're gonna get your comeuppances so it's someone bigger around the corner and she's right there is not in clitherall [ __ ] that no um she's right though so what's he gonna do stay alive heavyweight forever until somebody does come along and beat him or go up a weight class new challenges round out his career at heavy not have to go through those weight cuts i mean if you just look at the um the top ten i mean obviously now you've got stipe as the champ cormier well he's done and garner oof and god who's hard curtis blades derek lewis dos santos rosen strike overeem volkov i mean these are all they're all tough fights to be honest they're all very very hard fights very very hard fights you look at i mean you're right about john jones he really did go through i think three generations of top contenders yeah exactly like he took over and you know he jumped he's you know he jumped in for that title shot it was so early uh yeah i um look john's great you know i'm gonna go up good sorry no no no i was just gonna say look at the end of the day john jones does it again to daniel cormier we were just about to get into the daniel cormier versus stephen and john john steals the limelight we were just about to start talking about dc's terrific last performance inside the octagon his failed bid to become two-time heavyweight champion and what happens jon jones hijacks it just like one tweet that is the power of john jones it is very powerful if i'm if i'm cormier i'm stewing right now i'm listening to this podcast uh you know he's on the edge of his seat he's like they're about to they're about to talk about how great i was they're about to talk about what a gun see performance it was how i got an eye poke they never even called attention to it in the fight it was technically robbed in this fight here comes jon jones once again hey you know what he didn't get a fight jon jones has to make a little tweet exactly exactly but that said we are now going to talk about the main event because it's long overdue um where do we start i mean number one terrific fight the all three of those fights the first one ending quick the second one was a tremendous fight and the third fight was a tremendous effort as dr morris said earlier both guys in incredible shape pushed a really good pace for five rounds uh stipe as we know was the winner and riley so i had it scored for stipe but daniel made every round close maybe the second one not so much second round was big for steve bay but all the other rounds were um you know obviously we had eye pokes on both sides i don't know give me your thoughts give me your thoughts uh lewis and then i'll i'll dive in it was just a super close fight that was really enjoyable front to back um you know it was a little late in the evening so i'm not gonna be able to give you some sort of extensive breakdown from any technical standpoint um you know i'm sad to see dc go i'm sad to see dc lose i'm sad to see him you know retire um you know especially when he fights such a close fight against the heavyweight champion it's a difficult thing to say you know and i guess people were saying about what a crazy competitor is and he's gonna have a hard time walking away from the sport i understand that because when you fight a close fight with the champion and you really take it to him for all five rounds you know at what point do you say well looks dc could probably still beat ninety percent of the division yes 100 he could and he'd probably be a lot of them with ease because of his wrestling advantage you'll take and he could probably beat stipe if they fought it's not that it's not a foreground conclusion the secret wins that fight every time he could also probably win the title again so that's a really tough thing to come to terms with yeah of course because daniel looked so dangerous with his hands at the weekend because he could clearly see that he was landing the heavier shots now of course stephen dropped dc at the end of the second round and i got to be honest if there was another 30 40 seconds left in that round maybe dc would have been done maybe it would have been a finish but doesn't matter it's the sport the round finish and that's that uh but dc looked so dangerous with his hooks any time he would get on the inside he would land some tremendous punches on there stephen having brock's certainly rocked i think was the end of the first round kind of rocks dp almost put him down both guys did a lot of good work uh stephen was trying to take him down in rounds three four five came close on occasion dc obviously got a fir a takedown in the first round pretty quickly stephen went for a guillotine i was like no don't go for a guillotine you know because you know that means you're giving up the takedown you know but so you don't want to do that against a guy like dc but hey listen stephen's [ __ ] good he got back to his feet pretty quickly and yeah it was a good fight it was a close fight there's a lot of drama um what did you make of the ipokes um you know i mean look it's it's it's uh it's part of the sport it happens all the time um dc getting poked in the eye that looked really really bad after the fight i saw like he really looks injured i guess a cornea tear um you know about eye injuries better than anybody so maybe you could speak to this a little bit more but dc came back you know um he looked great after the eye poke as well so on one end you go like oh [ __ ] the ipoke is really unfortunate but i think he ended up winning the fourth round on most people's uh in most people's opinion so you know yeah the ipoke sucks but at the same time you know it wasn't detrimental if you got knocked out right after that i poke i would have been like [ __ ] that's really a shame um they both suffered i pokes in the fight it's a nasty shame in the sport it happens a lot and i think uh there was a tweet that you sent to us earlier right yeah yeah well i was gonna say they both got poked in the face and then dc actually spoke about it afterwards brian you want to roll that tape please now let's go to the eye poke yeah i mean look at my eye it's it's pretty significant yeah i couldn't even i couldn't see the rest of the house how is it you don't see right now i can't see anything out of my left eye black it's it's black so wow i mean it is what it is you know yeah it doesn't matter i mean i told mark that he poked me but he he said he thought it was a punch but then after the fight he said yeah he said i saw it on the replay so i just can't see out of my left eye so it doesn't matter whatever it is what it is yeah well there it is i mean unfortunately mixed martial arts with these gloves that we have it is still a factor we do need to change that but regarding the eye poke it was bad you know but you can't these things happen and certainly dc has poked stipe in the past he poked him in that fight as well so you know you you can't kick up too much uh of a fuss about it right i i very much doubt stephen did that on purpose in fact he came i said no i had no idea he didn't mean to do that but that was a heavy eye pog i mean it [ __ ] it almost went in up to the knuckle you know what i mean he did that again he just like that he was slowly the knuckle just the tip of it just kind of went in just a little bit just went in and if you look at dc because i was trying to see that saturday night rebecca was like dc can't even focus and he says there he couldn't see and we know now he has a tour in the corner which the cornea is the lens of the eye and if that's torn it's painful i've had that myself um and there's like a bruise in the corner and the eyelid is kind of uh swollen and drooping down so i think all that makes it look worse than what it might be but still you know dc showed a lot of heart he fought on i mean what are you going to do you're in a will title fight potentially your last fight ever you're going to say hey ref hey doc stop this fight i can't see now if you're dc if you're the man that he is the career that he's had the warrior that he is you're not going to do that in your last fight you're like [ __ ] it let's go let's keep fighting and that's what he did now respect that a lot yeah speaking of what you're gonna do teddy atlas has a tweet about that oh okay let's go where he says another tremendous fight in the ufc last night with all the risks and challenges that make the sport great one should be removed time to cover fingers we don't need blind warriors well that is correct we don't need blind warriors okay teddy atlas thank you for that but i am a blind warrior so there you go no teddy atlas boxing legend legendary commentator he's right you know and it's lovely to see that i don't know if you've noticed lewis when you watch the fights now you've got the likes of evander hollerfield tweeting about it you've got teddy atlas who's as i said a legendary boxing commentator and boxing personality tweeting about the ufc it's [ __ ] awesome it's pretty cool especially considering the the sort of the the i don't want to say war but just sort of the juxtaposition of boxing versus mma that you know for years for years and years and years like what's better what's better and boxing purists would sort of [ __ ] on mma and it seems like mma has really won the respect of boxing purists you know uh actual boxers athletes themselves trainers they really talk about mma in a very different light even in the past five six years yeah no absolutely i was going to say that's uh good of teddy ellis to say that because teddy ellis brings a certain gravitas to the situation for him to the the weight of him to say that is fantastic but uh unfortunately we need to grapple we need to grapple so therefore our fingers have to be exposed but we got to change the glove i'm sure there's a glove because right now you can put your fingers up in the air like that you can direct them wherever you want right and then the judges always say you can't have your fingers out like that their fingers have to be up okay but anytime somebody shoots a take down in some the hands come down like this and even in training i was always worried about shooting a double leg take down because i don't want to get poked in the eye obviously i've always had eye problems for years now um but if you design a glove that just brings the curve of the finger in to where it's like that and and if you're relaxing your fingers the fingers are bent but then to straighten the fingers you've got to use the muscles in your fingers to straighten them you know so it requires a little bit of effort to do that i can't listen to professional athletes complain about the muscles in their fingers having to be extended if it's going to maybe protect a fighter's eyeball that's what i'm saying that's what i've said they i'm saying they should design it in such a way that the glove makes it go like that and then by using a little bit of effort they can open them up because you're relaxing like bruce lee always says baby boy you're like water water to stone very fast like that so you so you relax you relax you relax and if you want to grab quick as a flash extend the fingers little workout for your fingers didn't they do that a few years ago i seem to remember them designing gloves with that in mind it almost made you have like gi joe hands like gi joe grip like that was the standard and then you'd have to like to open it wider um it does seem to make sense right there are guys i don't think that stipe or dc purposefully did that in that fight but jon jones remember he joked about it he made a joke about it where they were like oh yeah i poke people in the eyes and he joked that he does it on purpose and he does yeah no no no of course he's joking and i don't think anyone out there honestly i don't think any fighter out there in that situation is gonna poke somebody in the eye you know why here's what i would say and then again maybe maybe i'm wrong maybe there is some dirty scumbags out there that will purposely poke someone in the eye i'll just say this if you purposely poke someone in the eye of a fight you're a piece of [ __ ] you're a scumbag um but the reason being is because if you've you've got to reach out you've got to get close to him you get it and stick a finger in their eye if you can do that you can also punch them in the face yeah and and i will take punching them in the face of a little girly eye poke any day of the week right you know i was getting [ __ ] on the in the comments i rarely respond back to when people give me [ __ ] in the comments on youtube but somebody gave me [ __ ] and it was just such an obnoxious comment that i was like okay dude shut up this is not that crazy i said last week on the show that um that dc and stipe would kill fedor okay i stand by this i stand by this i think both of those guys right now today would beat fedor in a fight i you know and the people that are sucking on fedor's [ __ ] being like this [ __ ] american idiot knows nothing about mma i'm like what are you talking about i mean just the pure data based off of the level of competition that these guys are fighting day in and day out i mean it is a massive jump up and fedor hasn't tested himself like that in a very very long time bisping please back me up here i will back you up but i don't want to divert any longer from stephen and dc we're still talking about that i don't want to go off and we already did it with jon jones no it's deep in dc that's what we're talking about stop stop stop we already did it we we abandoned shipping but let's discuss john joe's relinquishing belts now we're not going hey [ __ ] dc and stephen let's get into uh fedor the great fedor that that once was a fantastic champion it is no longer that we just had the greatest trilogy the greatest uh rubber match series ever in mixed martial arts history let's keep her eyes on the prize baby boy eyes on the prize or i on the pride can we do that um so dc's retired dc is retired now listen at the end of the day i mean how did you feel when it went to the judge's scorecard what did you think uh i just i was drinking and watching fights all that was hanging out hammered that's not the word but i wasn't i i wasn't i didn't know who won the fight when it got down to the the judge scorecard i wasn't sure who was going to win the fight and i i didn't have anything in my head yeah i had my buddy over here rick and we both had to score for stipe you know so i mean did every round was close as i said before apart from the second second round was big for stipe other than that and cormier also outscored uh stipend that round in terms of uh striking he landed more but he did get dropped and almost finished or the end of the round but every round even even the rounds other than the second as i keep saying but every round other than that that stipe won they were close they were debatable dc was in that fight you know simple as that but it you know it came up short stipa is a tremendous champion he's a big [ __ ] dude he's a hell of an athlete he's a great wrestler he's a strong guy and he's the greatest heavyweight the ufc have ever had simple as that he is you can't deny that now um so congratulations to him dc i mean what a career you know what an absolute career i'm so happy for the guy i hope he stays retired he's done enough he's made plenty of money we talked about it he's fleeting all these young kids getting very very rich of them he's got a tremendous career in broadcasting ahead of him because he's awesome at that he's a big personality he's got a baby on the way he's got a lot to live for and as a former fighter and a competitor myself you feel like you can't ever step away do you know what i mean because you think this is it this is everything but then when you do step away there's other challenges out there so dc whatever you do i support you and yeah i just uh extend my respect my gratitude for the facts that we've had that you had and we got to watch and i wish you all the best yeah congratulations honestly you know it sucks to lose a fight but congratulations to dc on an incredible career i mean coming in as an alternate in the strikeforce heavyweight tournament and to you know make his way all the way to the ufc heavyweight title and you know ufc light heavyweight title double champ that is an amazing career and he's undoubtedly a future hall of famer i couldn't imagine him not making it into the hall of fame yeah there's no way he's an automatic entry to a hall of fame if he stays retired then they'll do that next year one would have thought if not next year the year after for sure so yeah there it is steve pemiochi and still dc uh retired tremendous uh there was another fight on the night uh daniel pineda was it daniel pineda it was daniel pineda taking on herbert burns um i did a little video on instagram so we'll just finish off with this oh we've got a couple of questions as well uh like can we save questions i just text you i gotta wrap here in a second so let's save questions for the next show we'll do some extra ones i do apologize i'm my son's mother's out of town so i'm oh good buddy oh god yes we had herbert burns herbert burns the brother of gilbert burns obviously tremendous jiu jitsu guy and great fighter as well i think he had two good wins inside the ufc made short work of them went up against pineda saturday night and you know that's just the way it goes you find the best guys in the world and you're trying to work your way up it's hard to work your way up into that top five top ten wherever he was at and you know i'm sad denied didn't go his way he was fighting back and forth he had a hard weight cut i think he missed weight as well so obviously that would have affected the conditioning ultimately he uh he got finished by a from a crucifix from side control so to get you inside control then they pin one of your arms down with their knee so you can't defend yourself there and then with your other hand they they get an underhook and they use the head so basically you like this kind of like jesus on the floor your arms are that's why they call it a crucifix and then they have one off three they can punch you in the face they can elbow you in the face and it's hard to get out of listen pineda look fantastic great win uh commiserations to herbert burns he'll be back um but i felt compelled to go to instagram lewis and just shed a little bit of knowledge let's bring breakdown breakdown it's been breakdown there it is brian uh we'll sign off on this but uh yeah here it is take just prepare to be razzle dazzled here lewis you're gonna this is gonna blow your mind i just want to say congratulations to steve here mia cheek incredible fight congrats champ and daniel cormier i know you're hurting right now dc and uh you should be very proud incredible fight three fights with the champ and you've had an incredible career so well done and i mean that sincerely um earlier in the night we saw herbert burns get finished by daniel pineda burns is an incredible jiu jitsu athlete incredible fighter but he got caught in the crucifix which is very very hard to escape as joe rogan was saying but there is a way of doing it that's relatively simple but if you don't know it you don't know it but let's take a look so i'm going to go down by the way i'm having knee replacement total knee replacement in 10 days so you can do this with one leg one eye and half a brain so i'm gonna go down here right he gets me inside control one step at a time he traps this arm here with the shin okay that's trapped this one's trapped here so there's nothing i can do he can now drop elbows one two all right relax take it easy bruh okay so he's there he can hit me there's nothing i can do to escape or is that this leg here is free so i turn my hip to the side and then the leg comes over see this leg here he's using this leg to anchor so to speak spread his weight but that's his downfall this leg comes over here and hooks it here and i pull it onto my knee and then from here this hand i'm a hipster over he goes just out of control here push down on the arm crucial pitch punch in the face it defends the face oh we got americanas we've got all kinds of stuff we can go on for days but uh but yeah there you go that is how you escape uh the crucifix from side control mind blown lewis we probably should have just ended the show with that instead of just having you watch yourself breaking something down yes well i'm showing it for you and for the people because i was meant to i was going to record it for the podcast exclusive content but you know being an [ __ ] and i have nothing going on in my life right now i'm like i'll put it on instagram i can't wait [ __ ] it it's going on instagram so there you go but what you didn't see was in the tape before at the end when i get on top of callum then i mounted him and i started slapping his face i was like come on what are you going to do and that's the one i was going to post because in my mind it was funny but callum kicked off big time there's no way you're not posting that dad i was like yeah yeah dad no and he was like he was really upset about it that is a lack of confidence in life you know i'm like come on kyle don't be such a [ __ ] let's go um all right let's wrap this one up we got another show this week later on the week we want to thank everyone for
