CAUGHT CHEATING PARENTS - r/AskReddit

how did you find out your parent was cheating and how did it affect you when I was younger around age six or seven my father and I would take my mother to her night job once he dropped her off he would pick up his woman for the night with me still in the back seat sometimes she would be aren't this locker's amount like I was too stupid to actually know they weren't related to me he would take them back to our apartment and I would hear them from my bedroom my bedroom was next to my parents I would stay awake till they left around 3 or 4 o clock since my mom would be offered 5 I see in the morning at first I was mad about my mom being tricked like that but kept quiet because my father was a very angry man so far the experience not only ruined my respect for my father so much that I didn't even care nor feel anything about my father passing away when I was 12 but it also made me hesitant to even put myself out there to be hurt like that your father sounded like a wonderful human being I looked through my dad's phone it didn't affect me it was no surprise he is definitely that type of person that was when he was cheating on his second wife now he is cheating on his girlfriend which I know because she looked through his phone again no surprise I found out post-divorce folks called it quits when I was about 8 months old so it in itself never really affected me but my mum always told me the whole we fell out of love he worked too much we were too young spheal I moved in with my dad of 10 along with my older brother I have spoken previously on reddit about why but simply put I love my mom but she is hard work and very self-centered I asked dad why they divorced a few months into him taking care of us and you could see he wanted to do the noble thing and paint her in a decent light but after what we had been through he knew we would call so he was honest he wheeled off several of the bigger things and one of them was I was sick of waking up at 2 a.m. and finding out she had snuck out to get back again and again Finglas my brother and I were also sick of waking up at 2 a.m. because we were scared as kids can do and finding my mother Walt the amount of nights we thought she had been kidnapped or murdered we were always told to never call the police - this happened about 30 times between the ages of 4 to 10 that we knew of we told dad this and you could just see he suddenly knew he had made the absolute right choice and that any misgivings he had about stopping his career to take us on just vanished the call he made almost immediately after to my mom essentially saying you could leave me to go off and [ __ ] other men that's fine but leaving the boys to do it makes you a bigger than I ever realized made us not miss her quite as much as we had before we no longer felt guilty for abandoning her as she kept calling it when I was 7 I went over my best friend's house I randomly showed up on my bike my friend and I went up to his room started playing the playstation about an hour also later we we are going down his steps to the kitchen sitting there with his mom all cuddled up with a blanket over them was my they didn't notice us and I blurted out that all confused as to why he was there keep in mind I was just a child and didn't know any better he said he came over to check on me of course I believed it and didn't see anything wrong with it he left I stayed for a while my friend's mom ordered us pizza run let us rent a movie I asked to stay and went to call my mom to get permission when I was on the phone with my mom I told her daddy came to check on me over Nicks him and his mum we are watching a movie my mom Carly said I can stay then hung up the next day I went home and all my dad's stuff was gone she kicked him out that led to the getting a divorce still to this day my dad and I don't really talk he blamed me for them getting a divorce not him having an affair with my friend's mom it was my fault it's never a child fault he was the grown man cheating and betraying the trust of another grown human please don't beat yourself you may be relieved your mom of founding out years after her and feeling ever more bad found my mom and dad in a physical fight that ended with my dad burning a piece of paper over the gas stove before telling both of us off and taking off in his car my mom yelled and sat at the table for a while then told me it was a letter from his girlfriend explaining he was cheating on her after years of mental and physical abuse from my dad I just didn't react but it did really be up later he threatened me to come home during school sort through the mail and take out letters from the girlfriend otherwise he would kick me out at this time I had nowhere to go I did this for years and it still really bothers me because my mom stayed with him despite how shitty years his girlfriend doesn't send letters to the house anymore instead all his girlfriends messaged me on social media to try and get in touch with him I don't answer but man I feel so guilty in paranoid I can't feel very much emotionally I have had only to the crushes in my life I'm really terrified of being duped into a marriage like my mom because I don't really know how the couples are supposed to treat each other without nightly beatings and cheating I was a freshman in high school and my dad sat me down and showed me his little black book he explained that the male names were codes for female names he was usually out of town three weeks a month and had a different woman in every town how did it affect you it didn't why would it the male names were Kurds aha I would assume it would lead you to develop some opinions about him or shape or inform your worldview in some ways I already knew the man I wasn't surprised and really didn't give it one way or the other by yelling it at my father while I hid in the bathroom I was a very naive 16 and one night when my dad was bowling there was a knock on our door it was a man who wanted to see my mom I don't remember being very perceptive but this man's frightened me but I went and got mom and she went back out on the porch to talk to him it was the only time I ever listened it had or and I did it forth the phone in my hand to call the police I could hear him yelling at her that her husband my perfect dad was with his ex-wife I wasn't so naive that I didn't understand what he meant and I realized I wouldn't need to be calling the police I was shocked senseless because I'd thought my parents had always a good marriage to top it off mom came in straight-faced and didn't say a word about it two days later I found her trying at the kitchen table and urged her to divorce him she just kept saying your dad is a good man it seemed hollow to me she wouldn't hear of divorce I was sitting at the dinner table alone not sure if this was true but I was eavesdropping on my mom's conversation and my mum was angry she yelled in the FIR new GL out of town and have sex with other women and I was confused as my dad was almost a senior and that would be weird as this was probably just an awful false comment but not sure I don't know if he cheated I don't think he knows if he cheated my dad is an alcoholic he's so bad that he can't remember anything from when he was drunk my mom saw an email from his cell phone saying that someone replied to his Craigslist ad my mom found the added was referring to and he had definitely posted it it said he had a daughter in college me a son in the electrical union and was in a loveless marriage [ __ ] my mom just can't stand him when he makes an ass out of himself while drunk she confronted him and he denied it for like ten minutes then he admitted to it but said that all of the replies he's gotten were from thoughts and that he never did it I don't know how but my parents are still together fast-forward to two weeks ago my parents got into a fight and my dad stayed at a motel something happened the next day that I don't really want to get into but my mom broke into his firm and phoned a bunch of really weird pictures none of them contained anything but they were weird and gave us the idea that he had cheated on her he claims he doesn't remember what happened and we still don't know thanks for watching please hit like and subscribe [Music]
