directed by your peaceful rule and that your church may rejoice untroubled in her devotion through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god for ever and ever amen a reading from the book of sirach when a sieve is shaken the husks appear so do one's faults when one speaks as the test of what the potter molds is in the furnace so in tribulation is the test of the just the fruit of a tree shows the care it has had so too does one's speech disclose the bent of one's mind praise no one before he speaks for it is then that people are tested the word of the lord lord it is good it is good to give thanks to you lord it is good lord it is give thanks to you it is good to give thanks to the lord to sing praise to your name most high to proclaim your kindness at dawn and your faithfulness [Music] is [Music] the just one shall flourish like the palm tree like a cedar of lebanon shall he grow they that are planted in the house of the lord shall flourish in the courts of our god [Music] [Applause] [Music] thanks to you they shall bear fruit even in old age vigorous and sturdy shall they be declaring how just my rock in whom there is [Music] a reading from the first letter of saint paul to the corinthians brothers and sisters when this which is corruptable clothes itself with incorruptibility and this which is mortal clothes itself with immortality then the word that is written shall come about death is swallowed up in victory where o death is your victory where o death is your sting the sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law but thanks be to god who gives us the victory through our lord jesus christ therefore my beloved brothers and sisters be firm steadfast always fully devoted to the work of the lord knowing that in the lord your labor is not in vain the word of the lord [Music] shine like lights in the world as you hold on to the word of life [Music] a reading from the holy gospel according to luke jesus told his disciples a parable can a blind person guide a blind person will not both fall into a pit no disciple is superior to the teacher but when fully trained every disciple will be like his teacher why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own how can you say to your brother brother let me remove that splinter in your eye when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye you hypocrite remove the wooden beam from your eye first and you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye a good tree does not bear rotten fruit nor does a rotten tree beer bear good fruit for every tree is known by its own fruit for people do not pick figs from thorn bushes nor do they gather grapes from brambles a good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks the gospel of the lord jesus christ today our lord gives us many wonderful examples let me offer a few other examples there we are driving in our cars and of course when we're out on the highway it's always easy to say who taught you how to drive why don't you watch out where you're going all of a sudden we become the expert on the road or there we are we have a jug of milk and we're standing in line at the grocery store first time using that machine how many cards do you have you see all of a sudden we become judgmental and that's what the readings are really referring to how often we become judgmental about those around us we can do it better or we can do it faster and our lord is calling us to a deepening of our own heart and how we shall address one another especially ourselves you know sometimes we're very hard on ourselves we can be harder on ourselves than even those around us but that's sometimes why we become so judgmental the expectation we have this ruler that we want to measure everyone by because that may have happened to us we were measured a certain way and now we kind of force that on others around us and we forget the heart maybe it is the first time they're using that machine maybe this they're having a bad day and they're not paying attention because they're trying to focus on something else in their lives folks i'm going to invite all of us to take this sunday to really be careful because we also can be distracted on the highway we also can be fumbling around and say what's wrong with this card why isn't it working you see we all can find ourselves in the same position that we're judging others by we just forget the heart and to love today jesus is calling us to a deepening of our heart you know if we're going to the store allow a little more time if you're going somewhere and you're on the highway be a little more conscientious you don't know what is going on in the lives of those driving around you to be a little more introspective too to say you know what i don't need to be so impatient so gruff so understanding misunderstanding folks today the lord calls us to a deepening of our own understanding of ourselves and how often we judge can a blind man lead a blind man no we all have our opportunity to guide and lead by example we all can control the mouth sometimes we don't think about what we want to say and we just simply speak it that seems to be very common today and we forget that we become judgmental and unreasonable all of us don't want to be treated poorly all of us want to be respected so in our own prayer lives bring into that reflection about being more patient more gentle more merciful to be jesus let us stand and let us profess our faith i believe in god the father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in jesus christ our only son our lord who was conceived by the holy spirit born of the virgin mary suffered under pontius pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell and on the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of god the father almighty from there he will come to judge the living and the dead i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church the communion of saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting amen with faith we present our needs and ask the lord to hear us for the church that it may always bear good fruit giving generously to all those in need drawing in the curious and questioning and demonstrating to the world the store of goodness in our hearts we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for world leaders that they may be guided by the wisdom of god as they make decisions that affect their citizens and their neighbors we pray to the lord for the animals and plants that are dormant during the winter that they may re-emerge and blossom in the spring bearing fruit in due season we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for the sick especially among our viewers and listeners may they be comforted in their suffering we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for those who have died may they know the victory of eternal life with god we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for the needs and prayers of all our heart of the nation parish members including those joining us from the state of michigan we pray to the lord loving god we lift these prayers today help us to practice compassion patience and understanding as we interact with one another and we ask this through christ our lord [Music] is [Music] the kingdom of heaven is yours [Music] is [Music] pray now my brothers and sisters that my offering and yours will be acceptable to god the almighty father may the of his lord for our god all his holy church oh god who provide gifts to be offered to your name and count our oblations as signs of our desire to serve you with devotion we ask of your mercy that what we what you grant as the source of merit may also help us to obtain merit's rewards through christ our lord amen the lord be with you r let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god through christ our lord his death we celebrate in love his resurrection we confess with living faith and his coming in glory we await with unwavering hope and so with all of the angels and the saints we praise you as without end we acclaim [Music] [Music] you are indeed holy o lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and the blood of our lord jesus christ at the time that he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and he gave it to his disciples and he said take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when the supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave the chalice to his disciples and he said take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and the blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and all of our presiding bishops and all the clergy and all of you god's holy people and we remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face and have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary the mother of god blessed joseph her spouse with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever [Music] and so we gather our hearts this day as we pray together our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil and graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may always be free from sin and say from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ you said to all of your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance to your will who live and reign for ever and ever the peace of the lord be with all of you so let us offer peace to one another and peace to all of our viewers ah [Music] sins of the world [Music] the sins of the world [Music] the sins of the world [Music] behold the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb lord i am worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed may the body and the blood of our lord jesus christ bring us to life everlasting amen [Music] oh [Music] is [Music] [Applause] of christ joins us [Music]
