[Applause] what's up guys this is the Honest outlaw here and today we're gonna be reviewing the Kanak elite SC before we do that I want to mention my pitch to supporters thank you guys very much because you've the channels still alive I can't thank you guys enough and because of that we do patron exclusive content also I try to answer all of my patreon messages so if you just send me a direct message on patreon any gun question you can think of I always do my best to answer all of those if you get me on Instagram you got about a 50-50 shot considering how many message I get lately and if you go on Facebook good luck you might get mrs. outlaw but other than that I'm usually not on Facebook if you want to get ahold of me patron messages are generally the best way I also want to mention a link in the description below for a local homeless shelter is right above the patreon link in fact a local shelter in Ames Iowa that I really like to support it's a youth shelter and with things being as they are they could use your support more than ever so go down there and click that link and donate to those kids mechanic elite SC is a subcompact striker-fired pistol in nine-millimeter it has a polymer frame and it comes with two magazines 112 and 115 round magazine but if you're behind the lines you can still get ten round magazines they are available what makes this gun sort unique and the polymer frame pistol striker-fired world of which there are many others is the fact that it comes in a really good price point considering the features that it has we can go through the features here real quick and I can discuss some of the things I like some of the things I dislike and some of the things I don't really think matter all that much first feature I really really enjoy from mechanical lead is gonna be that trigger all can exhale and we get into that more in accuracy but for the money it's absolutely exceptional as you can see there it's a little dual toned as well so it's got the little little trigger safety on it just like a Glock over it's in red which gives it kind of a unique look considering it also has the tungsten seracote top giving it more of a tried toned look that I think looks really cool that was the initial thing that attracted me to the canna Khaliq compact so far I've had the elite 5 inch the elite compact and now the elite subcompact and there's a few things that make the sub compact my actual overall favorite aside from that trigger you're gonna get some really good sites as well you're gonna warn in tactical sites right out-of-the-box you're gonna have to order these and put them on and figure it out how and Yatta Yatta Yatta you're gonna get these right out of the gate and what I like is that it's a blacked-out rear that's also serrated to prevent glare and on top of that your front is gonna be not exactly a tritium night side but it's pretty close it's going to gather light and glow for a little while similar to the HK vp9 sights now if you use that with a weapon light which you can mount onto the Kanaks subcompact here because of the Picatinny rail that won't matter anyway I've used a weapon light you can use blacked out sites at night no issue at all are gonna be some issues finding lights that fit this rail the streamlight tlr-2 just came in a little bit too short but there are some lights available the little o light Valkyrie I think fits it really well and there's some stream lights that fit it really well also but stuff like an X 300 or something like that not gonna work because the rail is just a little bit too short and it feels like it's gonna fit on there and then you'll pop a few rounds and it'll fly off the front and you'll look like a doofus Scott has a 3.6 inch barrel and a 24 ounce overall weight making it a subcompact yes but a little bit bigger than your average some contact it's bigger than the Glock 26 and it's also bigger than the Taurus g2c which I would consider a probably normal sized subcompact similar to the Glock 26 I'll be doing a vs. video on the G to see you're coming up as well which is why it's on the table but because it's a little bit bigger than sub some compacts it kinda reminds me of the CAV the M&P actually it actually handles a little bit better that three point six inch barrel gives it a little extra site radius and a little extra muzzle flip control that really helped out this gun is extremely suitable comes with two back straps it comes with an optics mounting plate which is really nice however there is a Conda that well in that it I think it only works for the shield site maybe works for the doctor I'm not real sure on that but arm our optics and Delta points and stuff like that won't fit on it because the amount is just a little bit too small I'm sure there's a workaround for that however right out of the box you're only gonna be able to use the shield site which I've heard as good although I haven't tested it and I did watch sage dynamics video on it which is kind of my go-to spot for optics reviews and it kind of failed miserably as far as his test goes so I haven't obviously tried one however I'm sure it's better than nothing if you have backup iron sights you're probably gonna be fine no another thing I don't like about it is the included optics plate which I don't actually have on the table because it's in the box in the storage area is actually plastic so if you take this little piece off then you have to put the included plastic mount on it and then the optic and I've already had some accuracy and we're holding zero issues with a glock MOS system and I've had some zero holding issues with other types of plastic mounts now the iwi Masada actually had a plastic mount and it had no zero issues so but I do prefer a metal mount when it comes to my optics because if that optic loses zero you're not gonna know it until you shoot and miss and if that's a self-defense situation that miss might be catastrophic maybe controls as you see here the slide stops light releases on both sides the magazine release is swappable and the takedown is similar to that of a Glock right there as well and those are your only controls consider doesn't have a safety it does have a loaded chamber indicator which I really care about I'm a chamber check kind of guy I don't trust stuff like this I always just make sure to look in the chamber regardless which the front slide serrations on there make a pretty good little option to chamber check but if you're into the front or the loaded chamber indicator it's a pretty good one I have to admit not only can you feel it which is nice for in the dark when you can't chamber check but it's also very visible being on the back plate like that and being in red another thing I really like about it is the little thumb strap here which I'm which i think is pretty cool I do this to my guns already so having a little bit extra texture there is kind of a memory spot to put your thumb I like a lot I got big hands so sometimes I a little bit it's nice to have a little spot to press down and get a little friction and on top of that just make sure you know where your thumb is over here you're gonna have the bigger trigger guard it's got a little bit bigger trigger rod than a Glock which I like that gloved hands about 50% of the year here in Iowa so that's a big benefit the trigger undercut is also pretty awesome overall I've seen it done better stuff like the H&K vp9 or the ppq does it better but this is pretty good texture and the grip is nice for a carry gun it's not too aggressive but it's good enough I would like to have seen it go all the way up here where you actually get a lot of your grip this is a big grip surface and for some reason a lot of people don't texture that don't know why but whatever as you can see here this is the included 15-round magazine this is the 12 round magazine and this is the 21 round magazine for my for my SFX Kanak and it also worked and we did use it throughout the testing so overall pretty excellent kind of have the same magazine compatibility that like say a Glock 26 does where it can use the 17 and 34 mags you can do the same thing with a caning and you can get it out the gate for a little bit less money the gun also comes with a holster however honestly I did not use it can take some weapon lights here and it also can take an optic and on top of that it can take the larger magazine so if you were to carry this all day which it would be fairly comfortable to do not only would you have a fairly formidable carry gun but when you got home you could throw on that weapon light and you could throw in this 21 round magazine and you would have a fairly formidable home defense weapon as well and on top of that the extra surface area on the magazine helps you grip down and shoot the gun just a little bit faster which I really like so for an overall gun this is kind of a perfect size for a carry slash home defense gun no as far as reliability goes this was the most reliable Kanak that I have ever run through testing we shot a plethora of different rounds it had no issues with low powered standard 115 grain ammunition unlike a lot of other can accept ride including the 5 inch gun and the compact so the other two elites that I've tried with a longer sly had an issue however I'm thinking that since this is in fact a subcompact and it's got the shortest lightest slide it probably had no trouble getting back and forth and not short stroking on those rounds we shot a thousand rounds 800 or 900 were 115 grain I believe they were American Eagle and federal target and training ammunition ammunition it's tough to come by here right now so kinda gotta use what I have to and then also because I've known mechanics for some time like 124 NATO spec ammunition I ran a hundred rounds through that as well just to make sure and it had no problems with that can do have break-in periods and a lot of guns like CZs today for example get broken in right from the factory got a machine every other one of mechanics has had trouble particularly with 115 grain lighter loads so if you're gonna run this right out of the box with no cleaning and no break-in period I would strongly suggest that you seek out some higher velocity 124 grain ammunition and they should be good to go anyway or you could buy The blue recoil spring that you can get off kinetics website which is a slightly lower powered recoil spring that will allow you run those 115 grain rounds with a little bit less trouble accuracy and suitability for where this gun really shines and that's usually not something I say about a subcompact now you have to remember that's in comparison to other subcompact it's not gonna outshoot the five inch with an arm or obviously but compared to a Glock 26 Taurus g2c having P subcompact it shoots very well particularly right out of the box part of the reason for that is because it's a little bit bigger but a lot of it is because it comes with really good sights right out of the box you sworn tactical sights are excellent they were on target right on the box and what really matters is that trigger if you're looking for accuracy you want a light crisp break on your trigger which this gun has hitting somewhere between three and five pounds based on my hi-tech finger trigger gauge there you'll pay $300 to get this break out of a Glock you can get this out of a 350 dollar gun right out of the box if you decide to buy the Kanak now the other thing that matters with triggers besides that light Chris break is going to be the reset you want to shoot fast need a short reset guess what on a 350 dollar subcompact gun there's not a whole lot of other places you're gonna be able to find that Kanak is well-known for their triggers and they should be because they're kind of patterned after Walter guns and Walters have excellent triggers as well but overall accuracy and shoot ability are solid 10 out of 10 in both categories with this gun if you with the best shooting subcompact gun out of the box anyway now you can get some done up guns particularly more expensive high-end guns like if you're looking for a subcompact 2011 or something like that obviously gonna shoot better than this but for $350 in that polymer-framed striker-fired category for under 500 bucks I like the ergonomics of the Kanak series I always have it's got a relatively low bore axis it's got good features overall it's got a really good grip too it's very comfortable it's not too big it's not too small it's a hair too small for me but that makes it great for everyone else for the most part and I would probably stipple this grip because I'm insane and I like grips to be really aggressive if I can improve two things on this gun number one would be the texture number two would have an included arm arm mount right from the factory now some of the downsides to this gun other than that are gonna be aftermarket support Kanak is not gonna have the aftermarket support that's something like a Glock or an M&P are gonna have if you're looking for super-sweet triggers and sights and all that other stuff however holsters are gonna be available and if you're looking for a good inside the waistband holster like a Kydex holster or something like that all of the reputable holster makers that I've seen make holsters for this if you're looking for a do-it-all gun and you're looking for sub $500 and you want to get it new you're not looking at a used Glock 19 Gen 3 or something like that it even still with a Glock 19 you're gonna have to put a lot of money into it to get it to shoot like this gun does because this gun has an excellent trigger excellent sights and it has good ergonomics overall right from the factory coming with two magazines and a holster and on top of that if you're in the shield site you can throw an optic on it right from the box as well man guns these days just keep getting better and better from the FN 509 to the Masada I mean even the Glock Gen 5 made some good changes the M&P 2.0 it is just a Golden Age of firearms and mechanic Elite SC is just another iteration of that if you liked this video please like and subscribe please help out your local homeless shelters and remember recycle I'll check you later [Applause]
