[Applause] what's up guys this is the honest outlaw here and today we're going to be talking about the czp01 before we do that i want to thank my patients reporters thank you guys very much because of you the channel still here if you want to join the patreon page all you got to do is go to the description of this video there's a link down there you can click if you sign up you can get that exclusive content and all kinds of cool stuff we're doing over there also i want to mention a local shelter in ames iowa that i support in every video those kids could use your help not more than ever so please go down there and click that link and donate to those kids the czp01 is a gun that i've kind of danced around reviewing for years now i'm a huge fan of the czp-07 as you guys know and it was one of my carry guns for a really long time which is very similar to this firearm right here uh the czp01 is a double stack comes with two 14 round magazines it is a nine millimeter pistol with an alloy frame on it here and it's double single action so you can either fire it in double action just like this with a very long trigger pull right up front and then as soon as you fire your first shot it will cycle and then you can fire single action which is a much shorter lighter crisper uh trigger pull [Music] so you can have a very light accurate trigger pull most of the time while carrying it with that double action engage allowing it to be a lot safer without having to worry about any manual safeties or having to worry about any negligent discharges or anything like that on top of that a lot of people who appendix carry like guns like the p01 because not just when you draw the gun but when you reholster the gun is when a lot of problems can happen and while you're re-holstering the gun you have that very long trigger pull because you're going to decock the gun right here that is a decocker you can either get it with a decocker or a safety but you decock it and then you can put your thumb on the back of the hammer there so even if something snags the trigger nothing can happen so if you re-holster like that it's significantly more safe in my opinion than a lot of other firearms so it gives it some advantages in the concealed carry category that i really like the p07 does this as well so the p07 is a polymer crane pistol and we'll be doing a versus video of the two this is the metal frame or the uh forged alloy frame some advantages to either one however the p01 does come with removable grips which i like a lot it comes with these rubber grips but there are so many different ones available that's going to be a theme to this video the aftermarket which we'll get to later in the video but the rubber grips are nice right out of the fat right out of the box i really do like them a lot however i do wish it had a little bit more checkering on either side similar to my cz shadow which is basically the p01's bigger brother it also has the picatinny rail there which is very nice you can add your lights and lasers makes it very good for home defense a 3.75 inch cold hammer forged nine millimeter barrel in there which is very high quality especially for the price of the gun the whole gun even though it is a metal frame you think it would be very heavy it's not it only weighs 28 ounces and it carries a 14 plus one magazine capacity comes with two uh 14 round magazines here 11 if you uh or sorry 15 round magazines it's just 14 on the website and i was a little confused about that but yeah 15 round magazines so 15 plus one is what you're gonna get out of the p01 a very small gun for that magazine capacity so it's pretty nice i think a little bit smaller than glock 19 size well about the same about the same a little bit shorter barrel same size grip now because it's so lightweight and of good size i would say this is the perfect size just like the glock 19 just like the m p compact just like the p07 perfect size for carry and in case you have to fight with it it's big enough to fight with as well so you can carry it comfortably all day while still maintaining really good shoot ability accuracy and speed so i think it's a great size for a do-it-all gun so if you're going to buy a gun for a concealed carry if you're going to buy a gun for home defense these type of pistols this one in particular in my opinion flexes very well into each as you'll see in a little bit the gun can be shot very accurately and very quickly especially for the compact size one of the cool things about the p01 is that when you tune these guys up they can be really good so you can even use your p01 in uh competition as well the p01 seems like it is an older gun than it actually is because it is obviously the variant of the cz-75 which came out in 1975 however this gun is actually a more modern version of that and it came out in 2001 it actually got approved by nato in 2003 and they did go through some rigorous tests on top of that it's carried by the czech police who also put it through some rigorous tests and other us agencies and foreign militaries so according to a lot of people smarter than me it's a pretty squared away pistol but i did a reliability test on this myself we shot a thousand rounds of a bunch of different types of ammunition uh mainly 94 grain frangible which it shot really well from pine valley we officer shot uh fiocchi 115 grain cellar and bell at 124 grain and i also shot 15 rounds of critical duty out of this which is the ammunition that i plan on carrying after i do some minor upgrades to it of course after the testing protocol is complete i found that it was very reliable i found that it had no issues whatsoever no short stroking no weird ejection patterns or anything like that uh no bobbles no nothing it ran perfectly in uh several different types of weather conditions running in several different types of ammo with several different magazines so one of the cool things about the cz-75 series is that they take cz75 magazines and says they've gone so popular there's literally magazines in different formats from different companies all across the country and the world for that matter so these are the uh throwing around here these are the standard 15 round magazines always gets me so confused because it's got 40 on one side nine millimeter on this side but 15 round magazines and they worked and function reliably i also ran some of my magazines from my original shadow still cc 75 magazines with the old school base plate on them they worked perfectly i got some of the new ones from my shadow two uh and i don't i don't remember what else runs these uh and i have the taran tactical base plate on there to give this guy like a 23 round magazine capacity i think and these work great and then i also ran the sar sarzo mat mags that came with my sar 2000 and they worked as well so overall a lot of magazines to choose from and they are extremely affordable so if you're looking to stock up on a bunch of magazines the cc75 series particularly the p01 since it is a small frame gun but can still use the large magazines can actually use the most amount of cz magazine so if you're looking for a big magazine stash this is a real good gun to do so now it was definitely reliable but it was also very accurate because of the single action trigger your ability to go from double action [ __ ] the hammer and shoot single action you can get a really nice trigger much better than your average glock or m p for that matter now we got the stock po1 out here at 50 yards and we'll see if we can hit something i'm pretty confident we can get something going here [Applause] [Music] so foreign [Applause] it seems like an old-school gun it actually has a really nice trigger with a really clean and crisp break you can check the reset here not the best a little bit longer than your average striker fired pistol however easily overcome as you can see in the footage the stock trigger on a p01 has it's pretty good still but it has a little bit more reset than i'm used to because i'm so used to the cz custom or cajun gun work short reset triggers so if you can see here when the trigger is pulled hammer drops the gun resets i'm so used to coming out about right here and then pulling the trigger whereas now you have a little bit longer reset kind of similar to a stock glock or something like that still can be plenty fast uh just a little bit longer travel but you can still get after it now the double action on the gun is going to be a little bit tougher i didn't weigh it uh but usually that's somewhere between 12 and 7 pounds depending on where you're getting your gun but it feels somewhere around the area 10 and then single action feels something like five four and a half so overall the double action is still more than doable i was shooting uh double action only at 50 yards and i could hit pretty much on demand so now one of the nice things that i like about the cz style pistols is not just that they're accurate and reliable but they are really fast at least in my hands the gun is so ergonomic and it's so easy to hold into place that uh the recoil or at least the muzzle flip seems almost non-existent one of the nice things that they do is is put out this big dust cover up here putting weight right where you want it you want it right below the tip of the barrel so you can mitigate that muzzle rise keep that gun on target and really pile up those shots another thing cz does really well is the internal slide rails as you can see here the gun actually sits inside the frame as opposed to on the outside which reduces the overall reciprocating mass of the slide also reducing muzzle flip [Music] oh ran out as you can see there it's got that big old dust cover on the front and very little weight actually traveling to the rear which is a lot of the felt recoil and muzzle flip you actually feel so the design of the gun itself actually mitigates some of that now the ergonomics how high and how nice you can get into the pistol it just has a really really ergonomic grip for me at least in my opinion the decocker version not quite as much as the large frame versions because i do like to ride that safety like a 1911 and you obviously can't do that with a decocker however it still works really well and you can still get very high up on the gun i wish it had a little bit more traction uh companies like cajun gun works i'm sure can fix that for you i would do an easy fix which is what i'm going to do after the testing and i'm going to go over to a lock grips and buy some lock grips probably the aggressive bogeys they actually sent me some for my shadow and i fell in love with them so now every time i get a cz i have to go over there and get them because they feel so nice that thing will really lock it in your hand without being too abrasive on your on your stomach or on your back depending on where you carry magazine release is easy to hit right from the jump so even if i got larger hands so i don't have to break my grip to eject the magazine however even if you have to slide over a little bit you can slide back really quickly so magazine changes are very fast the slide release is nice and big it looks like exactly the same slide release that is on my p07 battery of arms very similar to what i'm used to it's got the front and rear serrations on it right there you're not going to be doing a whole lot of press check pulling backward like the cool kids on the p01 however because it's got that very small slide so that is the double-edged sword of having that internal slide is that you're going to get less reciprocating mass and you're going to get a less muzzle flip overall but you're also going to have less real estate there to operate the gun the good news is since the gun is so reliable you're not going to be in too many malfunction clearances however if you do you're just going to have to really make sure that you fix your battery of arms in order to operate the gun as you can see the rear serrations there are dug a little bit deeper and they have kind of a fin on the back compared to the front serration so it's actually kind of hard to grab the front serrations however it's really easy to come back and grab the rear serration so i'm glad they did that since there's so little space you can see that the slide is also tri-topped which i really like i like when they round the slide up there's no need to be big and bulky up there there really isn't sig should take note of this so on top of that the trigger guard is cut a little bit higher than some of the old school season and you do have a serrated front trigger guard there as well and i do prefer the curved trigger although i think you can get the flat face triggers for these now so if you're into that you can get after that so overall i'm extremely biased but i think the ergonomics are awesome i don't think i've ever met somebody who picked up a cz that didn't like how it felt i've met a lot of people who've picked up blocks that didn't like how it felt i've met people that picked up mnps i've met people that pick up caniks not so much the pvq or the vp9 they also have pretty excellent ergonomics but some companies just get it right and the uh the overall grip of the p01 is famous and iconic for a reason it just really really works the rounded hammer works very well if you want to fan it like billy the kid however i'm probably gonna go with a competition uh hammer and i'm gonna be doing some upgrades on this pistol because again that is kind of what the cz is known for as well just like the glock it's kind of an expensive set of adult legos i mean i that's pretty much what it is really like you can go to several different custom shops you can get whatever you want done to this i'm going to get some extra texture i'm going to get a tuned up trigger just like my cz shadow but i'm still going to have the drop safe in there just to make it safe for carry so it's not going to be quite as good as the shadow 2 but it's going to be pretty close i'm also probably going to get a red dot mount on here let me know in the comment section what you think the red dot mount should be i'm thinking right now trijic on sro might be a little bit big but hey i love that damn optic so much probably do the co-witness sights as well and on top of that i'm going to get some lock grips so other than that the gun will be going to be good to go but i plan on using this pistol for many years to come this is definitely a gun that i'm not going to be selling i sell a lot of the guns after i get done with reviews just in order to pay for new guns for new reviews so a lot of times they go down the road even though i don't want them to but this guy i love this guy so much for all of you out there that told me to try a p01 for the longest time you're absolutely right in spoiler alert i had shot one uh the fact that i didn't have one on the channel doesn't mean i haven't shot them before several of my buddies actually have them and i've been meaning to get one forever i just have the p07 and that's pretty damn close so overall the differences between the two we'll have to go into in the versus video the price on this guy even right now is under hundred dollars which is pretty nice i see them for about five to six hundred at least in my area and i think that's more than worth it throw a couple hundred dollars more and you'll have one of the finest carry guns on the market so i think the gun is worth its stock and i think it's worth it even more if it's upgraded [Applause] i gotta say you could have done a lot worse than that well yeah i agree honestly that was a lot better than i thought you're gonna do for the first time on a double single i have to say i'm not very well versed in it but yeah you did really well though you're a good teacher it does feel a little snappy but i did enjoy shooting it yeah it it they are a little bit snappier than especially the the p07 it feels like but uh still really good and these guns can be upgraded to have extremely good trigger so i think when we get it back someday you'll like it a lot more perhaps so overall i got to give the gun a solid 10 out of 10. it's just right up my alley what can i say i mean you guys that have been on the channel before know that i like czs you guys know that i like the ergonomics you guys know that i like the triggers uh so overall the gun's fantastic i can shoot it very well it's very reliable and it just gives me that comforting sense you know guns like the cz series are guns that i know for from years of experience are very reliable they they wear these guns in in the factory so you have to worry about breaking them in and their customer service is second to none at least in my opinion and the cool thing is is their factory is actually only about three hours for me so overall i really trust the gun and this is definitely going to be one of my carry guns in the future if you guys like this video please go down like and subscribe also if you want to see after i get it back from probably cajun gun works and i'm going to do a versus video with the p07 let me know what other gun you want me to do a versus video on with this and i'll check you later [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] pretty good for 80 yards in the dark
