[Applause] what's up guys this is the honest outlaw here and today we're going to be talking about the top 10 best pistols under 500 we decided to do 10 this time because there were just so many to choose from if you're new to the firearms industry you'll find that most of the premium guns start at around 500 so between the four and 500 mark there's quite a few high quality firearms to choose from so what we've done is instead of doing a bunch of honorable mentions like we did in the previous videos this time there won't be any honorable mentions and we could just rank them 1 to 10 or 10 to 1 rather and that way you guys can figure out where they lie actually on the list overall we did a patron poll on this topic and they agreed with my choices if you guys want to be involved in some of the videos or you want to see some cool exclusive content feel free to go down to the description on this video and there'll be a link there to join my patron if you join up you'll get not only the exclusive content and be a part of the community but you'll also be able to direct message me any gun question that you wish i try very hard to respond to every direct message that i get on patreon so if you guys have a gun question that is the best place to reach me also there is a link to a local shelter in ames iowa that i like to support right above the patreon link and if you can't be a patron supporter i understand that but please go down there and donate to those kids we won't be using any firearm twice in this series so if your firearm doesn't make this list feel free to go down and check out the best guns under 400 and the best guns under 300 those two videos i have previously done in the last few months in order for a firearm to be on this list it has to be a pistol it has to meet certain criteria and it has to be found under 500 all these pistols are going to be judged by accuracy reliability durability long-term track record ease of use ergonomics aftermarket accessories and availability at number 10 is the beretta px4 storm the storm is a double single action pistol with a polymer frame the double single action design allows for some serious pros and cons the pro is that the long double action pull on the first trigger pull allows it to be safer when carried also you can transition to single action making it a shorter crisper trigger pull than your standard pistol however it takes a little bit of getting used to and it takes a little bit more trigger time to get used to a battery arms like this which is why striker fired pistols are more popular however if you put the time in in my opinion it can be a superior design depending on what your uses are going to be on top of that the px4 storm has a rotating barrel design not a browning action which means that the barrel actually rotates in the gun as opposed to tilt up like most every other firearm on the market which allows it to have lower recoil since the gun doesn't tip up it actually reduces the overall muzzle flip allowing the px4 storm to be very very quick it has a four inch barrel making it a good size overall for carry but it has a little bit of longer grip think of like a glock 45 where it has a 17 to 19 round magazine capacity so it's good to be carried in a car or something like that because it won't poke down on the seat however it still has a long enough grip to maintain a full-size duty pistol 27 ounces makes it good for overall use you can carry it all day and not have to worry about it and it has a safety or a decocker depending on which one you'd like it's good for home defense good for carry good for plinking good for competition overall it is an extremely versatile gun low recoil pretty accurate and it's been tested heavily at least according to beretta with 150 000 rounds with no parts breakages of any kind comes with three back straps and a light rail some of the cons of this gun are going to be that the grip is a little bit too smooth and most people that see the gun don't really like the way it looks overall the gun shoots like a rock star but it kind of looks like a tv remote [Music] in at number nine is going to be the fn 509 mid one of the best guns out of the box you can pick up to date it's glock 19 size just like the px4 it has a 15 round magazine capacity with a four inch barrel it is a striker fired polymer frame pistol right at 27 ounces so again good size for carry good size for home defense if you want to buy just one gun this is a really good choice in my testing it was a hundred percent reliable with 1 000 rounds down the pipe with no malfunctions whatsoever very accurate very fast good trigger with a good reset right out of the box the fn 509 midsize is just overall a great gun out of the box because it comes with all the features that you would have to put on it if you bought an m p or a glock for example it comes with night sights great texture back straps full ambi controls a picatinny rail and easy take down not to mention front slide serrations so no frills meat and potatoes striker fired gun however it comes with a lot of features especially for the money at number eight we have the rock island armory gi 45 acp 1911. the 45 acp 1911 has been around for quite a while as a matter of fact since 1911 it's a single stack single action steel frame pistol it's america's gun what can i say one of the reasons why this pistol is on the list is because the 1911 is my favorite gun and this is the cheapest reliable 1911 that i've ever personally had coming in at under 500 we ran a thousand rounds through this with zero failures very impressive there's a five inch barrel comes with eight round magazines that are easily available wood grips a blued finish manual safety and a grip safety but the real shine to a 1911 is obviously the trigger if you've seen my videos you know that i love the 1911 you know that i love the 1911 trigger because it allows it to be just more accurate than a standard gun it obviously comes with some cons like having the grip safety and the manual safety some people don't like that and i understand that you're either a 1911 guy or you're not some of the pros to it is going to be that it shoots very accurately and it's got a single stack design making it fairly comfortable to carry even though it's a little bit heavier this gun comes in at 42 ounces controlling the recoil of the 45 very well i would say some of the only cons to the rock island armory is that it comes with some pretty subpar sights considering that is a standard copy of the gi model and honestly pistol sights anywhere but from between when pistols were created until 1980 kind of sucked so the sights on this kind of suck however you can overcome that relatively easily and on top of that not only do you have a very effective firearm but it looks real cool also some of the other cons to the rock island are going to be that the controls are just a little bit stickier than usual but overall it's still a really good bang for your buck considering high quality 1911s can go for 3000 and up and for 500 it's really a steal at number seven we have the canik tp9 sfx volcanic line of pistols is really designed with a budget guy in mind they give you a lot of bang for your buck and the sfx is no exception designed for competition and has lots of features that help you compete a 5.2 inch nine millimeter barrel you can get it in either nine millimeter or forty smith and wesson's you can run in limited production or carry optics if you choose to it has a two-tone color that i think looks really cool graphite gray on top with a black lower receiver and it has a red trigger that i think gives it a little bit of pop optics ready comes with a variety of plates so if you run an rmr like i do or if you run an sro if you run a leopold double point or if you run a bushnell or whatever they have plates right in the box for you already it comes with three magazines that hold 20 rounds apiece and have added base plates on them so not only do they hold extra capacity but they're a little bit easier to palm out of a magazine pouch to increase the speed on those reloads which is important in competition warren tactical sights out of the box making it an excellent fiber optic with blacked out rear sight picture my personal favorite and if you're not running a red dot this is a really good way to go but we're not even the best part yet not only is it very reliable and very accurate but the canon series of pistols has one of the best triggers on the market for under 500 you would be hard-pressed to find a much better trigger than the canik has in it already very similar to the ppq or vp9 the canik tp9 sfx has an awesome trigger and one of the best you can find for under 500. the only real downsides to the canik tp9 is that there are some reports of some limited long-term durability but if you get a whole complete competition package for under 500 bucks i think you'll have some extra money for springs and maybe an extractor five to ten thousand rounds down the road at number six we have the sig p320 series a nine millimeter 40 or 45 striker fired polymer frame pistol however it differs a little bit from some of the others on this list because it has a chassis system in it that is actually the serialized part not the actual lower so what that allows you to do is have a seriously modular platform so if you live in a state let's say like california or new york or something like that where it's very difficult for you to get multiple firearms you could buy one sig p320 and then you could transition that chassis into multiple grip modules that you can buy online for around 50 on top of that you could buy different slides and different barrels as well and you can create several pistols out of your one singular pistol purchase making it a little bit easier for you guys behind enemy lines on top of that it makes it good for me because i'm one of those tinkerer guys who like to dremel on my guns and stipple on my guns and stuff like that so if you can buy grip modules and try it over and over again for like 50 bucks a pop it makes it a little bit less stressful when you're soldering on your gun now all the variants of the 320 are accurate and fairly reliable they come with an amazing trigger personally i've had some reliability issues with mine but not very bad i would say two to three failures after every thousand rounds or so seems to be the norm they've also had some drop safe issues in the past dod has done reports on those as well as several other lawsuits that sig is currently handling however they have reaffirmed that the drop safe issues are fixed but it's up to you to decide whether or not this gun's right for you some of the other cons to the 320 series are going to be that the bore axis is relatively high which slows the gun down a little bit and increases muzzle flip so increases the overall felt recoil that's kind of a sig thing what can i say if you even look back to the 226 229 series the boraxes are just about as high as they can get so overall if that's not a problem for you and the drop issues are not a problem for you go out and get yourself a p320 at number five we have the ppq m2 this is again a nine millimeter polymer framed striker fired pistol however this one differs a little bit because it is a precoc striker which gives it arguably the best trigger of any polymer gun on the market so good in fact that it makes your accuracy go from about here to about here it's one of those guns that i call like a cheater pistol because every time i put it in my hand i just shoot a little bit better than i would otherwise they come in sub compact compact or full size and with different variants also like the ppq match which is one of my personal favorites but you won't be able to find it for under 500. i would honestly go with the compact 15 round magazine capacity four inch barrel and 26 ounces makes it a little bit of a sniper rifle in your pocket it's a concealed carry gun that you could easily hit at 100 yards or more which gives you the extra confidence while carrying a gun it has a picatinny rail front slide serrations great ergonomics and a very very comfortable grip it's easy to hit with very reliable i've had several of these pistols all of them won a thousand rounds with zero malfunctions with multiple types of ammunition it's available affordable holsters and accessories are available at every gun store that you would go to making it a pretty good package to get into the only downside of the ppq in my opinion is again it has a slightly higher bore axis slowing down the pistol under recoil but that can be overcome with a little bit of training and honestly if you're not shooting on the timer all the time you won't even notice at number four we have the glock 43x this is another polymer frame striker fired pistol however this guy is a single stack designed specifically for concealed carry however it's just big enough to where it can flex into an all-around pistol just fine 3.5 inch barrel 16 ounces overall weight making it extremely lightweight about half the weight as the previous pistols on this list now has a double stack capability thanks to shield arms they've just introduced a 15 round magazine that works very well in this firearm giving it an extra level of capacity if you're worried about that it is a perfect size carry gun for me a little bit bigger grip so i can control it very well and shoot it very well one of the best shooting single stack nine millimeters on the market at least that's my personal opinion proven track record good availability magazines and accessories are all available everywhere that you want if you're trying to get a holster for this no problem every holster on the market is made for the glock pistol every damn holster if they make a holster they make it for glock if you're looking for holsters like if you like t-rex arms or g-code or red hill tactical or some random holster you're better off going with glock because you'll be able to find magazines are cheap and you can customize glocks any way that you want one of the downsides to the glock pistols they come out of the box kind of sub par by comparison to something like an fn or a cz however every accessory in the market is made for glock pistols so you're going to be able to add whatever sights trigger and grips and anything you want on this pistol to really customize it to make it your own at number three we have the beretta m9 or 92 this is an aluminum frame double single action pistol similar to the px4 storm it has either a manual safety or a decocker depending on which one that you want it has a 15 round magazine capacity it usually comes with either two or three of those nine millimeter with a 4.9 inch barrel and a total weight of 33 ounces making it a little bit heavier than some of the other pistols on this list but you have to remember that weight is a good thing and a bad thing so if you have a lighter pistol it's easier to carry all day however it doesn't soak up the recoil like a bigger pistol like this beretta does for example so if you're looking for a pistol that has a lower recoil the 33-ounce beretta m9 is a really good way to go not only does it have a metal frame but it also has a lightened slide with an open top design to lower the reciprocating mass even more allowing for even quicker follow-up shots great for carry great for home defense great for competition shooting the beretta m9 has been around a long time it was made famous in 1985 when it became the standard pistol for the us military and served with distinction for over three decades making it easily the most proven pistol on this list from any temperature to any continent to any sand dirt test you've ever seen the beretta m9 has not only done it but most likely passed it very reliable very accurate tested in all conditions used by military law enforcement socom anyone you can think of it is one of the most popular pistol designs not only in law enforcement and military but in hollywood as well giving it a second kind of cool that the beretta m9 has over almost any other pistol with an extremely unique and italian design the curves on the gun make it one of the most beautiful pistols ever made some of the downsides to the m9 is that it doesn't have some of the features some of the modern pistols do however newer variants like the 92x have helped out with that also it has a decocker on the slide which can be a detriment if you like going over the top and running your pistol because sometimes you can accidentally decock or put the pistol on safe it's a battery of arms you're simply going to have to get used to personally when i run an m9 i like to slap in the magazine and then hit the slide release right there instead of going over the top and avoiding that decocker issue altogether at number two we have the cz p10c now the p10 series was new a few years ago and comes with a three inch four inch or 4.5 inch size personally i like the four inch version again to kind of go with the theme of an all-around pistol great for home defense great for carry competition plinking anything you'd want a gun for the ccp10 can do polymer frame striker fired pistol comes in nine millimeter and it weighs 26 ounces so it's a similar size and weight to some other pistols on this list and just like some other pistols on this list it also has one of the best triggers very crisp very short and very fast this gun really is built for speed but where it separates from guns like the ppq or the p320 is that it has a very low bore axis and the grip and the whole gun is designed to go very quickly i can notice a significant speed difference from shooting the p10 to shooting something like the ppq it simply cycles faster and moves faster in your hand on top of that it comes with all the features you're going to need right out of the box including steel sights front slide serrations swappable magazine release back straps andy controls the gun really is great for everyone 2 000 rounds through my c and 2 000 rounds through the full size p10 with no issues whatsoever it's available it's affordable magazines holsters everything you want you can go out and get overall it really is one of the top tier guns on the market today especially for a going around price of around 450 dollars and finally number one honestly considering the splash this gun made in the firearm market over the past few years i really couldn't pick anything else it's the sig p365 they say size doesn't matter but this time it's actually true this little pistol has a capacity and caliber in a similar size package as a single stack nine millimeter however it holds a lot more rounds this gun has a capacity of 10 to 12 rounds in a space usually reserved for six or seven making it about double the capacity while maintaining the same size as your average single stack like an m p shield for example it comes in regular or extra large depending on your needs but honestly the sig xl really is only slightly bigger than the 365 and is still very slim line for carry it's a striker-fired nine-millimeter polymer frame pistol like every other gun that's came out in the last 10 years however again one slight difference it has a three inch barrel and a 16 ounce overall weight making it the same size as the glock 43 x however it's got a much smaller grip and a much thinner width overall it's only one inch thick making it very comfortable for carry especially when you consider the size of the gun versus the capacity that you have good controls magazine release and grip are all very comfortable comes with great sights right out of the box hd green tritium sights which are very easy to pick up and very easy to be accurate with it also has a really good trigger especially for a very small gun it had some issues right out of the gate especially with things like striker drag however in the newer models this appears to have been fixed with my most recent 365 i have 2 000 rounds through the gun with zero failures not only is that enough for me to recommend it but it's also enough for me to start carrying it and that is probably one of the best recommendations i can give overall it was a hard list to make and all these guns were separated by very small margins so if you disagree with the ranking of the list i understand completely lots of these guns could have been number one it's just my personal choice if you disagree with my list completely feel free to leave your list in the comment section below if you like this video please like and subscribe please stop by your oklahoma shelters
