Breath of the Wild with One Shield and NOTHING ELSE

okay so we've all heard of one of the Nintendo's most popular selling games hell one of the most popular selling games of all time if you haven't played the game at all let me give you a small summary of how it works you wake up a hundred years later after the demise of the world find out this old random guy is actually the dead king of the world it's getting robust to find out that an ancient evil has taken over the four defensive weapons that were guarding the world and you must go defeat these flights and ultimately destroy the calamity to save the world in doing so you pick up various weapons bows and arrows along your journey to fight off the impending doom but what if I told you that you can beat the entire game with not only no weapons but also no bows and no arrows yeah that means beating the entirety of the Legend of Zelda breath of the wild with only shields and will take it even one step further with only one shield burst off like any playthrough our challenge starts we have to get through the great plateau which introduces us to all the key items we'll be using over the course of our adventure Magne sis bombs stasis and cry on us since I'm a speed runner you're gonna see some weird mechanics i abused just so we can complete this little part a little faster [Music] one of these tricks you'll see is link running while whistling this is called whistle sprinting it actually makes link travel at 80 percent the speed of running as well as regaining his stamina just moves us along faster until we get the insane part and when I mean insane I mean that breath of the wild is one of the most broken Zelda games in the franchise you'll see now that we've spent the last 40 minutes ish traveling across the land far and wide to acquire these runes we can finally get the paraglider trust me if I could skip the tutorial as part of the game I would you can't leave the great plateau without acquiring the paraglider if you could well you'd probably be able to beat the entirety breath of the wild in under 20 minutes hell it's such an insane idea that it would be as revolutionary as barrier skip was in Wind Waker anyways now that we've gotten the paraglider this is where the fun begins and this is where I really need to explain another rule for this challenge you're about to see something that was recently discovered in this game wind bombing breath of the wild is a very exploration heavy game that requires climbing running and paragliding yeah no links about to become his own self-sustaining cannon and make that travel obsolete to do this we need to pick up a bow and arrow not use them just pick them up there's a little shining star next to an item when you haven't used any of its durability if that ever disappears you'll know it's been used speedrun strats cuts down all the time traveling so we can just get to the shield business and we need to travel to get armor so now that I have Majora's Mask in a decent set of armor I need to get that shield the one item in this game that this whole challenge is based around a savage Lionel shield normally you have to defeat a silver Lionel one of the hardest if not the hardest enemy in the game to get one but lucky for us there's one conveniently tucked away in a small treasure chest below one of the stairs in Hyrule Castle no hard mini-boss required this is the only shield that we're going to be using for the run now that that's done we have a couple errands we have to complete around Hyrule before we finish off the game first off is hearty food we already got armor so why do we need food that gives us more hearts well the game strongly suggests that you have to save the four champions were trapped in the divine beasts and brought the wilds equivalents of dungeons but in order for us to get even in an attempt at saving them you need to shoot shock arrows at Val ruda you need to shoot bomb arrows at Val meadow and you need to shoot even more bomb arrows at vana Boris to shoot arrows you need bows and well what about the fourth divine beast Vardanyan well you can technically get into it without the use of arrows or weapons or anything of the like but since we're already not doing three of them might as well not include the fourth take this means that not only are we completing the suggested dungeons of this game but we're going straight for claiming to gain the final boss with only four hearts so yeah we need that food just in case and before you say oh why don't you get shrines why don't you you know do some side quests I could but let's just make this challenge a little bit harder okay last thing we have to scour for Hyrule are four bows not just any bows but we need bows that have the x two and x three property on them the ones that shoot multiple arrows once again we're never going to use them they're just gonna sit in our inventory until we need them and we're gonna need a single shock arrow it seems like a random laundry list but trust me this is about to wreck the game loading system nice so link doesn't have a body anymore legs body just doesn't exist he's gone last thing we're gonna need is a shock elixir and a piece of rubber armor for one of the final bosses thunder blight this is a small backup so we don't have to heal as much and now the final item we need to pick up before heading to calamity Gannon the Hylian Shield we're never gonna use it but it has a durability of 800 which we'll need for later but how are we gonna defeat the mini boss down docks that guards the chest before we can get it well here's where it all comes together the savage lion shield can do damage and all we have to do is shield bash it probably do that's right yeah I can check well ok apparently that's not about to work so you know what you do in a pinch all you have to do is just to rely on a bookshelf you know knowledge is power right all right let's give him a little pat on the back guys gimel of butt belly rub well back rub give a little back rub here perfect there we go hell yes and let's get the Hylian Shield most durable shields in the game now you might be wondering well hey crow didn't you just have a shield already isn't this a one shield only challenges well yes you were right we're never gonna use the Hylian Shield so they'll let you get it why'd you get it we're gonna use the Hylian shields durability so we're gonna take the durability right now from the Hylian Shield and put it on to the savage Lionel shield so let's equip the Hylian Shield really quick and let's do a little funky wonky or whatever you want to call it with the force roller buzz so let's take them out and let's overload the inventory and then link will despawn link doesn't exist anymore he's gone so the game's like well you are holding the Highland children now the game thinks link is holding the Hylian Shield so let's switch over to the salvage Lionel shield the game now still thinks he's holding the Savage Lionel shield we're gonna do some durability here so you can see in the game link has the Hylian Shield but you saw before we equipped the Lyle shield so if we do damage here the game updates oh the the Hylian Shield doesn't have 800 durability anymore the Hylian Shield now has 799 durability so we're just gonna put 799 durability on whatever shield you're holding but uh links actually holding the Lionel shield not the the Hylian Shield which means we now have a 799 durability savage Lionel shield for those who are very particular if you look at it the Hylian Shield has not taken any durability at all which means we haven't used it so is this a one shield only challenge are we only using one shield yeah we are because we haven't used the Hylian Shield at all I'm I just want to get moon jump honestly I think I'm just gonna get my job I won't get me jump Oh sick okay we can't move jump yes okay I was really concerned for a second all right we got moon jump oh yeah no yeah we got moon jump guys all right here we go let's I let's do this let's beat breath of the wild with a single shield here we go all right windpipe all right sky got it keep shield bashing keep shield bassing why he's doing doing a lot of damage here a lot of damage he's going to hit us one more time and then we're going to heal up and he's dead yes that's a wooden blight that's when blades all right here we go water blight this is where we needed moon jump for fighting you bunch up for water blight you'll see because we can't hit him if we're not we got it we got to jump up to hit him like this yeah it's difficult you need to do that house close that was close right there and get up to his face nice that was good that was good so far that's good that was that was big brain right there great look at that move that parry it's nice there we go yes alright that's water plate alright that's water blight here's fire blight here we go [Music] run run run run run thank you oh my god alright there we go we just have to dodge it that's a oh yes we get to see a nice big fire boy booty probably also just jump when he wants to do that attack yeah like that oh we can get it we get it halfway yes yes is this far like this one fire blight phase 2 is next can't remember we can't use bombs right so we can't actually parry this attack we're just gonna wait we're gonna wait and then he's gonna do that ah Sh I missed you can't pair that card you can parry that yeah I'm hearing oh it's because it's a Lionel she'll does damage so it breaks it I think I think we have to use a single bomb oh but maybe if we parry it like like right next to him like right right next to like really like right next to it like this that'd work no I think we use one bomb I think we say I think we'll use one bomb guys feels dirty feels dirty one bomb reading breath the wild with one shield and a bomb yes yes here's thunder flight guys here is fun to bite hi this one's rough we're go unshockable that's how we do damage that is literally how we do Danny which I have to parry him and then hit him with the shield thought was more difficult this is difficult there we go there we go nice second face let's go let's go 2nd phase ok ok and we're also out of shock resistance it probably should say this in second place but that's ok that's fine if we got it nice damage I'll take it don't mind if I do else we can do it ok all right let's uh let's start it again let's do it again ok focus nice pop focus these Perry's are not easy all right halfway I got the pair Evo yes I'll take yes yes yes all right that's what you want cuz it breaks a shield yes let's go yes oh my god we did it oh my god oh okay okay all right guys we got a run we got a run let's do it let's be clear it again and oh my god the hard part is over now we just can't die alright guys this is for you good for you guys there we go we can just do damage with Perry's like we if we can just get Perry's we're good nice they come up to him moves me so much damage I don't mind if I do there we go that's why I want to see and they're right on him and then right on them nice oh my god here we've gotten all of them so far this is a perfect run this is perfect almost halfway yes yes yes oh phase two phase two guys we are crushing this challenge run so far and the fact that it's been like almost six hours and we're beating this already that's incredible here we go the health bars real low guys health bars really low [Music] sorry I had to flex because I had to flex I had to do it I had to do it I'm sorry I had to it's an amazing run we're doing it a legendary run Oh God Oh God we have a one yet and we can still die no Chet no we got this guy's we get this does no way we're done here we go oh wow first one I missed was the flip n roll one here we go and I missed that one too nice perfect here we go then we did it ladies and gentlemen boys and girls for however you identify whatever we have beaten revel the wild with one shield and one bomb and one shield they said it couldn't be done with multiple shields we did that they said it couldn't be done with one stick we did that they said it could be done with one shield and we did a what for the finish good finish dark beast if you want but my god timer all right five hours we did in less than six hours to those nuts and here we go pledget and Zelda breath little wild one shield only and dark Beast and there you have it breath of the wild with only one shield that means no weapons no bows no arrows only one shield to say this game is broken is an understatement you can do so many challenges I've already beaten the game with a single stick before I've beaten the game with only bombs yeah heck I've even feed the game with only a dance dance revelution pad as a controller I have
