[Music] one thing I'll never forget about breath of the wild is the feeling I had when I learned or discovered something new I've addressed my several issues with the game in previous videos including everyone's favorite NBC quote I really should get that on a t-shirt depending on how they connect the first game to the sequel that overall consensus may change because if I were to choose one Zelda game to play again for the first time it would still be breath of the wild and that's mostly because of the statement at the beginning of this video my first big discovery was on the gray plateau I was walking around taking in what was one of the best tutorials I've seen only to catch a glimpse of something out in the distance it appeared to be a dragon and it was massive I expected it to be some mini boss and was both excited and terrified unfortunately or maybe fortunately it wasn't an optional boss fight this is one of the three dragons that appear in this game their names being Faraj din-rail and nee drah the dragons are one of the things that felt like wasted potential in the game aside from needing their scales for shrines no real interaction happens with them nedra has its own little quest that I'll admit was a real treat today we're going to shed some light on the topic and explain what they are or in this case what they might be longtime Zelda fans will know that the names Faraj din-rail and major come from the three golden goddesses for roar din and nehru these deities formed the land that would become the kingdom of hyrule and had returned to the heavens though the connections don't stop there the goddesses were the creators of the Triforce a relic consisting of three pieces power courage and wisdom the scales of din-rail Faraj and nhadra are required to uncover the shrines at the springs of you guessed it power courage and wisdom therefore they are most definitely the goddesses we see in ocarina of time thanks for watching these first two minutes while the connections to the deities exist it doesn't confirm that they are one in the same the three dragons are found in very specific locations within breadth of the wild you can catch a glimpse of dinner al Nacala Eldon mountains and Tabitha Faraj within Gerudo and Ferran and an Adria across the linear region each one is associated with a different element those being of fire electricity and ice the compendium States these are elemental spirits which take the forms of dragons and that each served its respective spring since ancient times but the term God is used in game Shaye tells us of a tale long ago where a dragon God split the mountain in half to forge a way through he goes on to state that some have seen the shadow of a large creature on the surface of Lake Floria while no dragon is seen at the dueling peaks worth the story supposedly took place Faraj does make an appearance within fair on at lake Floria the dragon god referenced is implied to be this same spirit something similar to the story occurs in the present-day Farish flies through a small portion of ice recently cracked in the Gerudo highlands most likely caused by the dragon similar to the spirits of the three springs the golden goddesses are associated with elements of nature fire water and wind two of the magic spells given to link in ocarina of time reinforces connection dins fire and furrows wind the one exception is neighbors love but in this case no element is being referenced all we have to do is look at the Zora spiritual stone of water which happens to be the same as neighbours crest only one of these matches up with breadth of the wilds dragons that being din-rail said to be a spirit of fire there's another game with three dragon Guardians Skyward Sword in which the three provinces of fair on Alden and lanayru-- are protected by Dragons that share the same name the dragons Faraj din-rail and major are located in the same regions descendants of the three in Skyward Sword perhaps we're told that the Dragons have served the sacred Springs since ancient times given how vital they are to some of the shrine quests and the story of the dueling Peaks they must have existed for at least 10,000 years at the time the sheikah technology was created and the sacred Springs they protect appear in another game Skyward Sword which as we've established is the title where the Dragons fare on Elden and linear ooh make an appearance the spring of power is nearly a one-to-one copy of the Skyview spring unfortunately the are many more differences than similarities the one seen in Skyward Sword each hold a verse of the song of the hero and pass it on to link along with the protection of the sacred flames one of the key Cui's states that the goddess left the flame in the care of the water dragons so it could one day be passed on to the hero while nothing is said about the others it's clear that they were protectors of the sacred flame nay Roos flame is aboard the sand ship once protected by skipper one of the many ancient robots who served the spirit lanayru-- and Eldon is located on the volcano summit very close to the fire sanctuary which is the resting place of the final flame their roles are very different from the Dragons in breadth of the wild plus the elements of each don't match and there are some notable differences between the sky view spring and spring of power one entrance has stairs one is a straight Hall and where hylia's crest should be lies the crest of DIN but all this means is that the dragons are not the same nor descendants of the ones seen in Skyward Sword similar to breath of the wild Farren linear and Eldon are referred to as both spirits and Dragon gods the origins of both are very similar the theory is because the spirits of ice fire and electricity can't be harmed they share the immortality of the golden goddesses and therefore are the same this is partially true while also technically incorrect the gods and deities of zelda have a hierarchy of sorts it's important to know this for the context of the theory in the beginning there were only three din nayru and farore they created the world along with heylia who was entrusted with the protection of the world and the triforce heylia appointed four spirits in Skyward Sword to assist the hero in his quest Levias and the three dragons their purpose was to serve hi Leah similar to how the light spirits did the bidding of the golden goddesses in Twilight Princess as servants they are considered lesser beings in comparison to hi Leah however the ones who created this deity were the gods of old the three golden goddesses therefore in comparison to them goddess hylia would be the lesser being let's take a look at the hierarchy the light spirits who are considered to be Guardian deities were defenseless against Zant's magic and had their light stolen the Dragons and Skyward Sword which are said to be God's are still susceptible to damage Ferran was wounded after being attacked by gear ahem and Allah Naru dies of an illness only cured once link gives him the life tree fruit even the goddess hylia is injured in the battle against M eyes despite being immortal in fact the only ones we never see succumb to an injury or illness are the golden goddesses this is why the Dragons of breadth of the wild can't be the exact same as the gods of old despite having a sort of immortality one does get corrupt by malice nedra atop Mount lanayru-- and it's a striking parallel to the sky spirit Levias from Skyward Sword who was infected by below kite being the same as the golden goddesses implies that they hold the same power and it's hard to think that the ones who created the very land and Triforce would be affected by such means theoretically the only way one could possibly harm the gods of old would be through the Triforce as it's said to grant godlike powers and grant any wish but what about the Oracles from the Capcom titles the Oracles din nayru and farore derived their names from the golden goddesses of creation it's possible that like zelda to heylia these Oracle's are the mortal incarnations of the three goddesses like hi Lea the golden goddesses could have exchanged their divine power for rebirth into a human vessel also like hi Lea such a process would necessitate the death of the old gods before the spirits took new bodies in the world of man unique individuals limited by flesh and blood housing the sacred spirit of creation the Dragons could be an incarnation of the golden goddesses with their true names being forgotten after the passing of thousands of years incarnation within Zelda titles isn't limited to becoming human twilight princess describes the light spirit linear ooh as a snake incarnation in addition there was an interview with a new mo where he stated the following in lots of Japanese folklore there's often stories where dragons are basically incarnations of gods so I think that might be a part of the reason why we incorporated that in the game while the elements don't add up with the golden goddesses it is a possibility breath of the wilds dragons could simply be of the same origin as the ones from Skyward Sword deities that were created by either heylia or the golden goddesses with the sole purpose of serving heylia while the dragons from Skyward Sword protect the sacred flames and hold verses of the ancient song there is one thing that they aren't tasked with the protection of the sacred Springs let's for a moment assume that the springs from breath of the wild are supposed to be the ones in Skyward Sword and that lanayru-- holds a third spring not seen in the game breath of the wilds dragons may have existed back in this era and served as guardians for the springs since ancient times could mean 10,000 years or possibly more parts of the dragon's hair have a whitish gray color hinting at their age Lynnae rooh is said to be the oldest of the three spirits with an appearance that closely matches his age like many spirits the elemental dragons are only seen by a select few there are rumors of these dragon Gods existing some even getting strange feelings when at the spawn point of Faraj ron is in search for the Dragons and despite being in a spot where dinner'll appears can't see the spirit he states that those with hylia's blessing are the ones who noticed these dragon gods one of the rumor mill books goes further and mentions how most eyewitness accounts in linear ooh-ahh kala and Ferran were from children it's implied that the spirits are visible to them because they are pure of heart somewhat similar to the Cork's the Dragons may have either chosen to be hidden back in Skyward Sword or were appointed to be the guardians of the sacred Springs sometime after the champions ballad proves that they choose who can see them since din-rail is temporarily visible to the Rito at tena gar Canyon one line that's worth noting comes from Zelda in the memory slumbering power I've spent every day of my life dedicated to praying I've pleaded to the spirits tied to the ancient gods given the context of the situation how her training is done at the Springs of power courage and wisdom and that the Dragons have served the springs since ancient times it's possible that these are the spirits she's referring to Dragons have been depicted as sacred beings who are worshiped by many specifically ones that are serpent shaped similar to breath of the wilds skyward swords earth temple features two giant dragon statues with this shape while dragon roost cavern has a peculiar image on its entrance to Green Dragons with their color and shape closely resembling Faraj given its location it may also be connected to volvagia the only other dragon that resembles breath of the wilds this twinning design is also seen on the doors of the previously mentioned earth temple Ocarina of times water temple featured these statues but the remake went further with the dungeon details the dragon heads on the walls have a very similar shape to Faraj din-rail and made rrah with two horns protruding from the back of the head and a figure engraved on the walls a serpent shaped dragon things get strange when we get to the fair on region in breadth of the wild specifically the location of the zone I ruins translations of the masterworks book tell us that faith in the water dragon was met here it's the place with the most dragon statues including one that houses the spring of courage in its mouth the natural assumption is that the water dragon mentioned is Faraj their ruins have the spring of courage and while Farish isn't a water dragon or spirit of water all this spawns within Ferren are from bodies of water lake hylia and Floria but it's possible that this dragon worshipped was in Faraj but fair on from Skyward Sword she's repeatedly referred to as the water dragon and as her name suggests resides in Ferren as guardian of the province and there's proof to support this claim with the following quote a great many ancient songs praised the way humans once lived in these woods they were in harmony with nature thanks rather the mystery gets even more bizarre once you go behind the springs turns out this serpent twin design is also found within breadth of the wild I hadn't noticed it until recently there's a lot of clues sprinkled throughout the games that point in many different directions I haven't even mentioned the dragon imagery appearing on Ganondorf in both the Wind Waker in Twilight Princess but that's a whole other can of worms breadth of the wilds dragons are servants to the spring either incarnations of the golden goddesses or of the same origin of Skyward Sword dragons meant to serve hialeah and assists the hero throughout his journey either they were created 10,000 years ago at the time of the sheikah technology or have protected the sacred Springs ever since Skyward Sword similar to Faraj the spirits of fire ice and electricity could have at one time been worshipped by the people in ancient times eventually forgotten by them and lost to history breath of the wild brings us to an age where only a select few can see them but even now they continue to guard the springs in hopes that one day the hero will rise and defeat evil once again oh yeah I kind of forgot about nae drah to be honest even now I'm not sure why it was corrupt with malice while the other two weren't targeted it's a mystery that has driven me crazy for the longest time currently my thoughts are that the corruption is a sort of by-product that symbolizes Zelda struggle with calamity Ganon as we know her power was weakening to the point of him possibly breaking free since Zelda is associated with wisdom the spirit of ice was the only one affected or perhaps it's because she only prayed there once and her spiritual bond with the Dragon was an S tronic as those ones were visited multiple times but that's really just speculation I'd like to revisit this topic some other day perhaps in a mini theory thank you for watching today's video on breath of the wild dragons some of this was discussed on my discord so thank you to everyone who participated in the discussion if you want to talk about theories and others all the related stuff a link to the server is down below special thanks to my patrons as your continued support is greatly appreciated as well as people who just watch my videos the fact that you take time out of your busy schedules to hear a dude ramble on about a videogame means a lot links to my
