Billy Connolly - Signal man joke

the Mach 1 up till I met a man called Hector Mikkel who is one of my heroes either Scottish comedian and he's a very old-fashioned comedian and I mean that in the nicest way he looks like someone from the past and we were talking about jokes and he has started to resurrect jokes he said it's really weird very because even 50 years a comedian this man and he said that some of my old stuff it has condoned really well I said that stuff I was telling when I was a boy and I said tell me what and they told me this joke and I've been holing all week I'm sitting in the other planes now bust out laughing he said it was there was a signalman in British Railways right there's a signal operator then his little shed and inhalants somewhere and he decided it would like a bit of promotion you know and don't panic this isn't a dirty boy live television gig reason a lover as a sold fashion didn't cleaned away the way these end to the P of comedians used to be but that's correct so he says this big guy he wants a better promotion so we're off to British Rail and they wrote back and sent a guy up they said you have to do the the signal man's examination is all right then he says well here's your first question he says suppose in your in your signal box and two trains are heading towards each other in the same Lane what do you do it's all a - over there - my emergency leave a pull it straight back thereby activating the signals you see but what if you get there you faint it's completely jammed and moveable Oh in that case I would rush out a signal box - along the lane to the manually operated points and deftly pull back the manual what if the manual operator point has been struck by lightning totally in that case I would dash back to my signal box up there press the electronically operated button that would put all the signals to emergency on position well if the signal box was in fire well it says in that case a - don't water and get my uncle Alistair this advise it he's never seen a train crash [Applause]
