Big Catfish Nearly pulled Him Overboard! And Then It Happened.

[Music] what's going on guys men landing we're going to do some bumping today out here on the ohio river there's really not much turn out in the river so we're gonna go up below the dam and uh see if we can bump up a few blue cats we got a cougar full bait we actually got way too much bait i'll show you some of the shad we got some shad and some skip jack in the cast net check out the size of some of those shads we've got i mean we've got some even bigger there's some monsters let's see check that one out that's a big old gizzard shad and then we got uh let's see got a bunch of skip jack about that size so we'll just wipe the tail off throw him out whole and then i brought some frozen skipjack and we got a whole tub full of asian carp we caught five asian carps we were out here yesterday guys and we had a really good day i didn't film much of it i got a little bit of it on video but we had a really good day we we caught probably 10 or 15 fish just in an afternoon trip with the biggest fish being around 30 pounds so hopefully we can do that again today we did have a cold front move through last night i don't know how that's going to affect the bite hoping we can catch the last little bit of these feeding fish before this front settles in but boy look the rollers that barge is right back we're gonna head up the dam guys get some baits in the water and see what happens like i said we're gonna be bumping today we might be doing it from an anchor boat we might be drifting but either way we're gonna catch some fish guys let's go have some fun [Music] so they're actually running quite a bit of water up here today at the dam i'm pretty excited i think it's going to be a good day i've had the hydros pretty much shut off for a couple weeks i guess this cold snap somebody must have turned their heat on because they're running three hydros and they're running eight foot of water on the dam which is quite a bit of water we got some good current should be just right for bumping got my bumping rod already rigged up here ready to go got a cooler full fresh bait we don't always catch big fish but we always have a lot of fun and that's all it matters at the end of the day i'm gonna put on a four ounce bank sinker on my three-way rig here i got a double hook rig i'm gonna put a pretty good-sized piece of bait on there to start with and if they're not hitting that i'll downsize landing you give me a skipjack out there one of those uh freshmen there's what we got put a couple slits in it just to let some blood out that's a prime piece of bait right there foreign i think we found them not a big fish but uh but a nice fish in my opinion a nice little eight pounder to start the day off you grab another one in base out there while i get the boat situated yeah today oh where's the fish i'm hooked up on right now there we go guys nice fish about 50 i don't know probably 13 14 15. it don't matter it's a nice fish we're gonna get him back and get another piece of skit jack out there there hello he gone look at him going up river son look at that he's not gonna be like a 50 or 60. look at that oh yeah i would know how to fix grip sorry don't let that thing fall getting back in the water there he is 20 pounds i thought he was a little bigger than that he's got a big old head but he ain't got much belly get him back in it's been a great day out here fishing guys we've caught a lot of fish today look at him son look at him and just nailed one bumping son what's it feel like i missed one and then lying and nailed it for the same fish is it still boring landon was like this is getting boring and about that time bow he'll be hooked now just like me he's bump fishing man it gets any blood bad he didn't even do it on a bumping rod he'd done it on an anchoring rod there he is what did you think about it landon it's a blast oh i missed him there we go guys that's a special fish to me and i'm sure it is to him too he got in contact with the bottom got it dialed in there and i told him you know it won't be long as soon as we go over this drop off and sure enough i want him nailed it he's gonna be blind we'll get him back in he's been out for a minute old land is hooked up with a good a good white bass or hybrid one here it's ripping drag and we're in some currents yeah tighten it up you got 20 pound braid you can tighten it up bring him in we got kind of sidetracked on these white bass but that's all right we're just out here to have fun we ain't trying to set no record i'd rather catch catfish than anything but i like to catch whatever's biting catfish bites seems to have slowed way down but we're hoping it'll turn back on on a sabiki rig fishing for skipjack catching big old white bass some things do fight hard though [Music] oh you got two two big ones that's awesome no wonder he's having such a hard time bring them on in here i'll grab them for you okay they both in the boat there you go these are big there you go 16 inches yeah i forgot you're forgetting i'm starting to think that uh we were gonna go ahead and call today because the anchor fishing wasn't gonna work this one got nailed and you know i can't even remember what that this one had on it you want to reel it in lander yeah big fish i mean i don't know how big it's in current but it's not moving it's just solid he took drag when he hit that in the rod holder and that drag is is really tight actually too tight let me back it off a little bit let me uh i'll tell you what let me reel in this bumping rod scoot over because it's going to be a mess if i don't seen his tail it looked like a blue it's a nice fish bring him on in here nice bigger than 20. are you getting a little excited because you ain't making no sense bring him up let's get him in the net try to make this quick watch the line and touch the boat keep it out of that motor i didn't check that leader before i put it out there and nothing these are the same leaders we used in tennessee he's in the net oh yeah 30 pounder pretty bad fish [Music] [Music] oh hook's buried man these fishing we ain't caught a fish on nothing except skipjacks all day i got some big giant gizzard shad asian carp big fish that's a nice fish real nice i got a mark on him man he's perfect i'm gonna get him back in gotta take care of these big fish oh yeah this fish bit real weird he just loaded the rod up and sat there well he's digging like a flathead but it's probably just the turn he's just staying down [Music] he bit funny yeah it's been a while since i've caught a flathead it's been a while since we've anchored up too though [Music] this one over here was getting a bite that's the one we was looking at remember yeah and it was acting like a flight hey that's what i was getting tell you that actually we're looking at that one we looked over and there's one folded over all right i got i'm gonna get a picture of him i know oh it looks like he's got been up in that mode oh no he ain't it went through the corner of his mouth got him in the top of the head he almost got blonded it missed his eye just by a see it's just barely in there but i mean it wouldn't come out whisker hut i've caught a few flatheads on them hooks and they seem to do a real good job on the flight heads yeah hold that buddy up sam and things look cool that's my favorite species of fish right there oh yeah bad dude i wish we had more of them around here oh yeah probably gonna sit here for an hour or so now i'm getting kind of tired but that right there wake you up atlanta's gonna get the release on it he loves turning them loose we got a quick weight on it he's 15 16 pounds somewhere around in there beautiful fish right there there he goes oh god [Music] did you see that just no it's no don't tighten it just tight the drag is tight he almost got that rod from you that fish has been over there messing with it for 20 minutes that was on a piece of asian carp as big as my arm that's the most beautiful thing i've ever seen i didn't see the take down but i'm scared you're gonna let go that rod he just about pulled you out of the boat you know he's been over biting on him i think it is he's been over pulling on forever are you a little bit excited [Laughter] that's awesome that's what it's all about hopefully he's hooked good well you got to remember that's braid too so you're not getting any kind of stretch it's just you're feeling it all oh my god you got to get him up now it's been a great day fishing especially for the ohio river man this has been a good day we got this cold front coming in and it's got it's got these fish fired up get him on up here no i'm just i don't want to oh gosh you don't want me touching that rod do you mess anything up well i think we made the right move coming down here i almost didn't even stop i almost just drove on out and went home i'm glad we stopped come on lift that keep that rod up high and don't let him go to this side of the boat over here keep him on this side because this side of the boat's like three mile an hour current this side over here is like one mile an hour [Music] you must have a big fish you must have a pretty good fish here hold it rob both hands it's the first one i've ever had pulled hardest pulling fish ever and you caught you caught a 59 pound blue you just pulled harder than that oh my god oh that's it dang it that's heartbreaking look here there goes you float he broke you off [Music] i think that's my biggest fish you think it was a flight head or a blue that's 60 pound monofilament leader and it just snapped it if it would have been good line it would have never snapped it it broke because it was damaged before we ever started fishing so from my mistakes guys that was a dang good fish that's gonna take me a few days to get over that i'm sure it'll take landing longer than that i'm gonna go ahead and call it a trip i guess had a great day out here on the river but man me and landon just cannot get over losing that big fish i checked that uh the grill out and the drag on that thing was locked and that that reel is supposed to have i think 25 pounds of drag and that fish was ripping drag but once we got him up here close it just he snapped but you live and you learn you know i should have checked the drag i guess but things happen it was a heck of a fish though i know that i ain't seen a fish take drag like that in a long time but uh oh you got a scale right there on the very tip of your nose and i think it's flaked off but it was bad all right now you can go
