Bank Fishing for MY DINNER!! (Catch and Cook and Foraging)

well river rats i'm about ready to commence operation fried fish dinner so let's go walk down to this point where things start to open up a little bit probably start on the front side then fish the back side the perfect world that's all we need oh there's some horse poop fingers crossed we can find a few looks like a wonderful seat can i get a rod holder in this gravel yeah no problem that's pretty sturdy even sweet i go there got some nice poop on my pants not literal poop it's mud just for the record i think need a couple sinkers some bait get the two rods casted out first and then get that third one rigged up everything will be wonderful it's already pretty wonderful one nice part about all this wind is that uh it drives my bag out because i went fishing last night in a pretty good downpour didn't catch crap that's part of the gig tried to catch flatheads and it's honestly not great fly head fishing yet that didn't stop me from trying one is ready a little bit of depth there plenty enough to hide a catfish hopefully there's one down there hey the rooster's cackling i enjoy that sound a lot i'm apparently not the first person to have fished here judging by this fishing line i'm getting tangled up in sweet at least the wind's dying down a little bit it's kind of becoming quite pleasant it's the little things here's a fun one for you so these snaps on these sinker slides they don't always agree with two and three ounce sinkers so if you bend them like that they slide on just fine and the clip still clips just fine i haven't had any issues with them opening up is it possible yeah but i haven't had a problem with it and that just broke off son of a kiss back to square one all right round two try not to suck it's 30 pound braid on this i don't play around with 30 all that often at least not catfishing vipers sure come on dinner all right i think it's time to move on honestly a little surprised not even a tap room i'm banking on the uh rock to mud transition we get up here and it's truly a rock to mud transition blows me away how much this has changed in 10 years it was all gravel back there and this is kind of where it shifts to sand and silt and it's all muck over there so we'll try this and don't work we'll just keep sliding down might be uh eating pizza tonight i don't know maybe small baits are the ticket we're going to find out why do you want to fluff so bad why do i suck at casting so bad appears to be more current here it's not a bad thing i think ooh that was bucky i like that maybe that's where they're at in the pooh i don't really care where they're at as long as i can find them oh he popped it i don't know what that means sounded good still no catfish on the bank so it must not be that great this is quite a bit more action than where we're at all i want is something to eat so that's not a given oh tentative are they small i don't know but i'll eat them all except for like a 15 pounder i definitely wouldn't need a 15 pounder but i would enjoy reeling in a 15 pounder definitely less patient when i'm hungry catfish nuggets never sounded so good so good so good hopefully my singing didn't scare the catfish away if i don't get bit that's what i'm gonna blame it on is that it watching my coop buddies over on the other shore milling around just being coots a lot of people talk trash on coots i like i kind of like them them in their weird feet you've never googled coop feet it's worth checking out probably a weird thing to do on your work computer but you know i'll leave that up to you there's definitely weirder things you could look up on your work computer we won't talk about that [Music] dinner i hope i hope i can get it man oh he's running you can run all the way to the bank i don't even care if you fight oh there's a good head shake good roll or something ah he's fast just busy being a channel cat that's what they do oh delicious looking perfect he was close to shore wanted the rattle when i saw the rod going down and i couldn't hardly believe my eyes had just been standing here in silence yes yeah yes i don't talk all the time surprisingly but i'll talk about him because i'm pretty excited and if i have to make do with just one he'll probably work so calling a win on the stringer he goes one more would make my evening had to work for him a little bit morale booster guess i better get that rod back out there he was much closer to shore than these ones are i do enjoy how even a two or three pounder feels pretty nice on this rod right here [Music] well he folded that i one trying to take pictures with my phone and uh he about got the best of me he's running right at me i don't know if he's any good or not yet i don't know how good of a hook set i got into him either but fold the rod over pretty dang good there oh he's fast he's excited all right dinner's secured the rest of them are for fun you know one more just for fun and dinner i mean i'm not going to let them go either but pressure's off because i was definitely feeling it i'm like thinking i'm going to roll down here and catch a few and life's gonna be grand no big deal and then the bites didn't come i wasn't sure how good of a hookset i got into them but actually wasn't too bad pleasant surprise we're bait it appears that the nibble gang is back whatever hello hey what's up oh how's it going it's going swell how how's it going with you did you come home with some food yes me too really yeah all right see you a little bit but well that's exciting ella went for a gene and apparently foraged up some stuff so we'll have a good dinner give them a couple more minutes and then roll out all right fish i guess it's time to go [Music] are you wore out from bringing home to dinner you did all the work um i did not bring back any of this this is entirely all you i only know what one of these things are well i think i only know what two of those things are so it looks like a little baby onion it's a chive oh i think it's a wild chive okay so the fuzzy ones i've seen many times but i don't know what they are oh those are catfish fillets i do know what those are but i think these are um ramps oh which i think are wild leeks i have to take a leak i don't really know what to do with this i just ate one while i was picking them and i didn't die so okay call that a win that's the one i'm excited about yeah i think i need to soak this and there's some critters in here okay what about this guy um i forgot and this remember every time we see this plant when you know it's kind of wilty right now but whenever we see it and i see the little flower and i get so excited because i think of how like adaptive that is well you can eat these oh good smell it and you can eat it and you won't die let's eat this stuff i'm hungry okay you're gonna judge me people are already judging me because i don't know how to do this you should embrace the fact you don't know i'm so it's supposed to be like ginger right you tell me i have no idea the only thing i've ever forged in my life is a morel now i can't find them so last year we had one morel right like two years ago okay well i think what else we also ate dandelion we did sorry so i've eaten rails and dandelion and for the record daniel line's pretty good so this is new but it smells like ginger smell it now oh it does yeah so i don't know what i'm going to do with that but i'm going to eat it i have the old standby got the catfish simmering in frank's red hot i'm a bread i'm have new bread in added a little uh cornstarch into it so that's exciting hopefully it'll be a little crispier and i think we're going to saute a lot of these vegetables what was the ratio you used for your cornstarch yeah i don't remember so we won't be able to replicate it no it'll be the mystery it's like all of my chili recipes accurate but they all turn out good don't get fishy ribs i make no promises my ribs my ramps inside joke they know what office space is all right thank you for clarifying the inside joke well it's not that nobody enjoys the inside joke unless you're on the inside but they're a part of it because i'm sure at least two other people have seen that movie probably more than that at least you know that's pretty safe that so you're throwing the garlic in again i don't know what i'm doing clarify we don't know what we're doing i know what i'm doing with the fish i think this is a new venture i think i might need to chop these up a little bit more before i throw these in there i didn't even google it so um someone's gonna say well that was stupid it's because it probably was so we can guarantee the fried fish are gonna be good we'll see about the veggies hold on i gotta get my wild chives i don't know maybe tribe is more of a garnish not today but my ramps are gonna burn you know how people get soaked so there's this foraging page who is there oh no someone's gonna yell at me because people get so intense about the ramps disclaimer these were foraged from what i was told sustainably i did not pillage i did not pillage the ramps there are ramps that stayed there that's a little too close that's the one i'm excited about did you hear when i cut through this one no did a beetle scream wait i'm gonna cut through this little background ella loves beetles listen it's like a sweet potato but it shouldn't be like that oh i shouldn't i'm gonna eat it anyway and these ones like it was like like butter from the fridge you know how it's yeah cut butter yeah you know when people say it cut like butter yeah like if there's smooth like butter maybe like freezer better okay you know it's still you can still cut through it your analogies are on par let's just cook these every now and then i forget to keep the skillet on what oh no oh no it's happening but they look like chicken nuggets a little bit catfish nugs those will not suck that's the finished product i only uh can take credit for one third of that i'm gonna try these first my wilted veggies they look good it actually doesn't i mean it's kinda like it looks like sauteed spinach that's a woody entertaining hyena status waiting to scavenge you got a good view of my yogurt toes okay i'm not going to say anything because i want you to try it now i kind of like it yeah i think it needs a little salt but yeah it's good enough i'm gonna steal another bite i'm gonna try one of these guys [Music] i like those a lot i promise i'm only gonna sit by her awkwardly on the same side of the table for a few bites and then i'll move back to my side but these are good oh wow on the chewy ones how are they chewy wow these are really good they're kind of like portobello mushrooms yeah they are a little bit like the texture yeah that one that paste was much better this one has a little dirt on it still too oh you know what's awful i'm still chewing on that one piece all right i'm gonna wrap it up i hope you enjoyed the video and if you uh
