[Music] amen amen shalom and praise the lord it's a beautiful monday evening or the word say monday morning but it's a beautiful monday evening and we thank god for the grace to you know just continue uh in teaching and in in the in the study of the bible there are many things that we have come to learn looking at the book of romans and i know that even as we proceed to the next book tomorrow it's going to be amazing as you can see pastor is not with me here today but i thank god that i'm able just to uh bring up a summary and just conclude the book of romans chapter 16 and then tomorrow it shall be here as we begin on the book of exodus so if you really want to learn about the commandments if you really want to learn about you know israel as a nation and and god raising up a deliverer for them and the institution of the law in itself this is going to be an amazing time for you because normally you say we are incapable of fully understanding the new testament if you are not able to comprehend the old that is why we look at some new testament context we go back to the old testament you come back to the new testament that together we're able to solidify the content and one of the ways also to ideally understand romans is also understanding you know exodus leviticus and numbers because those are you know what we call the torah so we are we we have come quite a long way and uh if you permit me let's just do a recap of the whole entire book because ideally chapter 16 of romans contains a lot of greetings and that's why i joked last year we confronted and said paul characteristics now we we began with romans chapter 1 and you know we said one of the best ways to overview or look at the book of romans one of the ways there are many ways you can attack or approach the book of romans but one of the ways is normally looking at it as you know as as a legal context and there is a prosecutor there is a judge you know and the the there's the defendant and doing this we can see you know god is the judge and there's a prosecutor and and and then paul is is playing that role not just only as a prosecutor but eventually he's going to argue on the case and you can also see jesus also being one of you know our our our defending attorneys for we are the defendants and not only just we the gentiles but i'd rather the human race is the defendant in the book of romans so we begin in chapter one and we see you know uh paul talking about his desire to visit rome and his quotation of of the old testament context in the book of habakkuk that says that they just shall live by faith and that's what he's about to argue out in the whole entire book of romans but you know as easy in his opening statements he goes on ahead to just say that he's he's not ashamed of the gospel because the gospel is the power of god to salvation and and in this book we see the definitions of the terms in salvation and we're going to go through some of those terms once again and uh he says for indeed the righteousness of god is revealed from faith to faith as it is written the just shall live by faith remember he said this is a quotation from the old testament that's in the book of habakkuk but in habakkuk he writes and says that the just shall live by his faith so in the old testament it had a lot to do with personal faith but in the new testament context it has everything to do with us coming into one faith because ideally we were saved by one god and he goes ahead now beginning to talk about the wrath of god and saying that god's wrath is revealed unto unrighteousness so god is god's right is not revealed to righteousness but rather to unrighteousness so where unrighteousness is the wrath of god is merited or rather it is legal remember you know if we talk about you know the the looking at romans as a legal context as the courtroom of heaven then there are legalities and illegalities that that ideally we need to approach and one of the legalities is god has an opposition you see god's wrath is god's steady opposition to sin god hates sin and he cannot bear sin and that is why any time there is sin there is unrighteousness god has has his opposition against it and that's what we call god's wrath so he goes ahead just to show us uh god's wrath on and righteousness and then he goes in ahead in chapter two to show us god's righteous judgment and in this uh god's wrath against unrighteousness we get to see quite a number of things we look at three types of sinners i don't know whether you guys can remember but we looked at three kinds of sinners number one we have the moral sinner the moral sinner this is the sinner who ideally is morally upright but because they don't uphold god or jesus as their lord ideally they are still far from the ways of god so these people do what is morally right in the face of people but at the core of their being they are still sinners and they require salvation now remember we talked about sin not just as an action but as a nature so because of the nature of sin there are people who morally they look okay but ideally they are still children of disobedience because of the nature of sin so we looked at the moral sin we looked at the good sinner you know i don't know they've ever met these kinds of people you know they don't go to church they do good they give to the poor you know and uh but at the end of the day they are still sinners you know and and then and this is the this is the this is how life is there are people who you know ideally they they have tendencies of goodness but in their heart of hearts they are still far from god and that is why god does not just judge intention he judges the heart he does not judge the action sorry he judges the intention the thing in the heart that merits the action that is why when you look at the devil and we looked at i read in the book of ezekiel and isaiah and and go and the devil does not actually go forth in opposition to one god but he says in his heart that's intention that is iniquity the intent of sin and because of that god did not permit that and then therefore later war broke out in heaven but now you see there is the moral sinner there's the good sinner and then there is the sinner sinner i can't remember that word if you can remember just write it down there's a word we called so there's the moral sin and there's the good sinner and there is the sinner that has you know the sinner that other people call sinner you know there are people who utter attack you know the good sinners and the moral sinners will call everyone calls you a sinner because your actions justify you know they justify that kind of word that people are calling you so you have those three kinds of sinners and out of uh romans 1 from 18 going all the way to three paul comes and says all of these people are still sinners the complete sinner the good sinner the moral sinner at the end of the day one word is constant all of them are sinners so no matter how morally upright you are no matter how good you are no matter how lost you are all of us we need god so paul is coming to the place and saying that none of us is without excuse we are not without excuse and that is why when the judgment of god shall fall all of us shall take ourselves to hell and that's what he he looks at in chapter two he says that god's righteous judgment and he says that god's judgment is righteous and remember again we talked about two kinds of judgment that we shall see there is the bema seat or the mercy seat of christ where all believers shall be judged and then there is the white great white throne judgment where unbelievers shall be judged and ideally you know the bible says all whose names are not in the book of life so it's just it's gonna be as simple as an opening of a book and if your name is not in that book then ideally your destination is one that is the lake of of burning suffer or rather of fire and ideally it's burning south it's called gehenna and and let me tell you this has not yet been made so immortal invited chamomile to bother the final press ups you know what our idea of conception of hell is not what hell actually is because where people go to right now is called obese or the dwelling place of demons it is a compartment in hades where the souls of people that did not accept christ go awaiting their final judgment and that final judgment shall happen in the great white throne where you know god shall come out as a judge at that moment he will wear his judge you know right now because of the mercy the bema seat rather there's the be mercy that's that shall come of judgment but there's also the mercy seat the the seat that covers the ark of covenant and it is on that seat that mercy is dispelled throughout all the nations that is why you know times you know we look at how the world is and how you know things are bad and we think why why god did you just come out and judge everyone but listen if god were to come out in his in his justice and judge all of us even some of us believers would still be judged and that is why he has his mercy his or her his justice has been kept on guard by his mercy and because of his mercy then we are not uh susceptible to his judgment but one day there shall be no more mercy and god shall reign in his justice you can imagine all these years that god has prohibited himself from coming out in true judgment because of mercy but one day that mercy shall be unkept and he shall come out in judgment and sin and death and the originator of sin shall be judged and the bible says and all whose names are not in the book shall follow him why because they decided not to follow the way that is christ so you see the judgment of god here is righteous or rather it is merited for why because god has two natures or rather okay god has many natures in him that find um the the the it's like a concussion they find uh expression in him and how they find expression in him is also makes him who he is and and and and part of that concoction is that god is merciful but god is also just now these two natures not only do they look like they are standing in opposition to one another but because of how god is as an entity these two natures find perfect harmony in him it is because he is merciful that he is just and he's because he's just that he's merciful you see someone cannot be merciful is there is no if there is no true justice you can't forgive someone if they've never done wrong idea how can you come and say you know prof forgive me and you've never wronged me then what is the merit of you asking for forgiveness so there has to be a merit and and it's it's through that merit through that permission that that the judgment is also verified and vindicated so paulie is just trying to tell us that the judgment of god is righteous why because not only is is he merciful and just but through his mercy he has created a way for everyone to accept or to escape judgment you know it's like justice is coming but mercy comes and stands on the way of judgment and mass is saying please go please go please go before i uh i i am unable to stop judgment so judgment is coming there is a barricade and that barricade is mercy and god is saying now uh please go please go by the way that is jesus christ before i get out of the way and judgment comes because when judgment comes it will sweep everything in its way that has not yet escaped and that's why the righteous the judgment of god is righteous why because he's not only giving a verdict but he's given a way for people to also you know come free of that and he says now he completes in verse 2 and says the jews are guilty as the gentiles aren't you know remember talked about the moral sinner the jews consider themselves to be very moral they consider themselves as to have the the law and to keep the law but in in itself also they were also sinners and then in chapter 3 paul makes the verdict and he says you know what all have sinned and are falling short of the glory of god that's that's that's the f the finality of the matter is whether you are moral whether you are good whether you are completely lost all of us have sinned and fallen short of god's glory and it looks like the case is closed because if the defendant is guilty and the judge is about to take his mallet and and and and pass the judgment it looks like it's it's it's over for us it's over for the human race why because we are all guilty whether we are good whether we think we are moral you know what whatever kind of perception that we have we are all guilty but the most interesting story is that there's always a but there all of all have seen that's 3 23 all i've seen and falling short of the glory of god but just about when the judge the great judge is about to hit his mallet another another evidence is provided in the court and this evidence is the evidence of christ and this is when christ comes and says you know what uh judge just wait just wait just wait just before you pass that judgment i have another i have i have a great witness that i would like to present before the court and because the judge is just and he is merciful he's saying i'm willing to listen to this new defense and that's where now uh we come to the righteousness that comes through faith because the righteousness that came through works failed because even the moral sin is still a sinner and in chapter 4 we begin to look at the father of faith and and and how he was justified by faith just by believing that it was counted to abraham to be righteous just because he believed listen the justification of abraham did not come by his works it came by his faith because even abraham even having received the promise he still went ahead and tried to find another way through uh hagai but god said listen if you still count me worthy i am gonna do this and and and we see that abraham is justified and and he's justified by faith he's justified before circumcision that is to dispel the notion that we are jews because of circumcision and then he receives the promise through faith that is why abraham is counted as the father of faith why because he received something before its time through faith and he believed god for it and we saw that the promise here was not just isaac but ideally was jesus so it was jesus that was promised to abraham but through but to for jesus to come then therefore had to be an isaac because the end goal is the promise that is jesus christ but how do we get to the end goal there has to be a lineage that through which jesus christ can come so in believing of jesus he also believed concerning isaac that's why at times god does not just promise to you about the now he promises about the future and if you can believe the future then that now is guaranteed in the future because isaac was the vehicle through which through that vehicle jesus would be delivered because if there was no isaac then how would they have been jesus because it is through isaac then jacob and then the the generations that come all the way to jesus and you can see this in the book of matthew and in the book of luke and that is why anytime a promise is delivered you see the the mind of god is not like our mind the mind of god does not just think now the mind of god thinks eternity because god is an eternal being where he sits on he sees the entirety of all time so when god promises he doesn't just promise now he promises the future and if you can believe the future that the future guarantees your present and then you go to chapter five and then he talks about how faith triumphs in trouble and and i normally love the first three chapters of romans 5 it says having been justified by faith we have peace with god so now the concept of justification is introduced and what is justification justification is just as if you've never seen that you're acquitted of all your sins and and and and we see a very interesting concept here that um let me just see whether we see that in in six or in five oh yeah we see that concept in in in you know in in romans chapter five the concept of the word propitiation and and in this one propitiation it does not just uh you see in the in the old testament we had one day where one man could go into the holy of holies and he would present the sacrifice that was poured on the mercy seat in the ark of covenant which was in the tabernacle and by that action that blood of appreciation it was a blood that appeased or rather it was a blood that caused there to be an oversight of the sins of the people for the previous year so the day of atonement it was called yom kippur in that day the the the people would go to the temple they would buy goats uh sorry buy lambs the the lambs would be strained of their blood some of that blood would be would be uh smeared or the four horns of the brazen altar that that blood would be uh would be burnt whole as a bunt offering on the altar of ban offering then the hype the the priest would go into uh the inner the inner court then the high priest would then go into the holy of holies with the blood of bulls and goats and pour it in the mercy seat in the ark of covenant and listen it was so interesting that this high priest needed also not only just to carry an appreciation for himself but to carry for the entire people and the the concept of this is that the high priest would also go with a rope tied on his leg lest he goes in there and god judges him and he dies and you know what if he if god judges him and he dies you cannot go going to get him because he you could not go in there unless you are a high priest so the high priest would go with a with a with a corner around his leg just that in case he would die they would pull him out because ideally they could not go in and get him but now we see the ark of covenant of the tabernacle that was given to moses as a template is actually a representation of the holy eternal tabernacle in heaven so there's an act there's an ark of covenant in heaven and there's a there's a whole eternal tabernacle in heaven and this is where our high priest that is jesus christ took his blood and he presented it in the holy eternal tabernacle in heaven and it was poured on the mercy seat and he sat on the other side and received that sacrifice and because this the blood is eternal and the sacrifice was eternal then then the condition or the rece the recipient of the sacrifice was then also eternal see the blood of goats and bulls was not eternal these were mortal things so they only would uh solve or overlook just for a certain period of time but the blood of jesus the blood of the holy lamb this blood is eternal so then therefore if the life of the blood is eternal then that which the blood gives or the sacrifice gives is also eternal that is why through propitiation not only are our past sins overlooked but even our present and future sins and why is this so that we are guaranteed a spot amongst the beloved of god and and these some of these reasons cause us to live in in in worship and enjoy towards god and we still already said anytime you hear such kind of a message and then you feel as though there is a license or less or a licentiousness to sin then you have not to receive the gospel because the gospel makes you to totally change your ways and rejoice in god regarding the totality of salvation that he gave to you as a package so we see the concept of justification in uh in romans 5 and we also able to see as we go out we uh uh i i think i've explained the concept of of uh propitiation and then we go over to chapter six and in chapter six he introduces another concept he introduces the concept of dead to sin and alive to god and this is the concept of sanctification so there is justification and then there is sanctification now what we what did we say that sanctification is sanctification is the process of being made holy is the process of being made holy sanctification comes from the word uh to be set apart and you know the sanctification happens in two stages and i i want i would really want to point this out so let's go to the book of um first peter first peter it's there just in the in the greeting part first peter just give me a second so in first peter chapter 1 verse 1 paul says peter an apostle of jesus christ to the pilgrims of the dispersion in pontus khalashia kapatusha asian bhitnia elect according to the foreknowledge of god the father in sanctification of the spirit for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of jesus christ now jesus in speaking of the holy spirit he tells us that the holy spirit comes upon you he shall convict the world of sin and he shall convict also of righteousness now the world is convicted of sin so that they can come into the into the beloved of god into the famine of god through salvation and then when you enter salvation then the conviction changes from conviction of sin to conviction of righteousness you are convicted of sin because that is your nature and on this other side you're convicted of righteousness because that is your nature so a believer receives conviction of sin because their nature gravitates towards sin a believer that's an unbeliever sorry a believer receives a conviction of righteousness because they're supposed to gravitate towards the nature of righteousness so the first sanctification is being set apart at that moment where the holy ghost sets you apart to hear the gospel so the gospel truth can come in because the bible tells us that that at once you you walked under the power of or the course of the power of the prince of the air and you are blinded towards these things at that moment uh the holy spirit comes upon an individual and separates that for a moment so that that person can be able to hear the light of the gospel to see the light of the gospel and accept salvation and then once that happens the person is justified and then now they enter into the continuum process of sanctification so the first one is being set apart the second one is now this individual is working in continuing obedience towards the spirit and is being made holy so after justification we enter into sanctification and in sanctification we change towards being slaves of sin now we are being slaves of righteousness ideally we we the concept of freedom or liberty is not we are we are not made free to do our things we are made free to observe the things of god because the things of god are lighter and more better than the things of the world and we are freed from one master that is sin and death and we are now um i don't use the word enslaved but ideally the same concept we are joined to another master that is christ and christ just calls us to live righteously then in in in chapter seven we see the concept of the law and uh i think here is where we looked at the law in entirety and we looked at uh uh in in verse seven we see the concept of um of liberty we see the concept of um there are there are three p's those three p's were past that is peace uh but ideally in in in romans 7 we see the concept of the law and why the law could not be able to save us from sin and that is why god had to come in and become the the source of our salvation because the law was holy but the law could not save us and and and and and see the law was good but the law did not have the ability or the power to transform and that is why grace now has the power to transform so the law tells you don't do but grace tells you don't do and this is how not to do and that is why we are no longer under the law because the law cannot uh bequeath us the law cannot set us free but grace rather comes not only just comes and tells us that don't do it tells you this is how not to do and that is why you know we don't just talk about um don't forget don't uh you know don't lie don't do all these things we also talk about it it also comes and tells you how then not to do it and one of the ways is that grace comes and teaches you not to sin and teaches you how to live righteously so in romans 7 we see the concept of being freed from the law then we go over to chapter 8 chapter 8 uh is the concept of now being freed from indwelling sin so remember we talked about the nature of sin and in in in chapter eight of romans i believe that's why we talked about the concept of imputation uh so i and i'm just trying to go back and and decode some of the words that we spoke about in in romans and eight we see imputation and imputation is this is the cross is the place of transfer jesus is on the cross you are on this side then the righteousness of jesus is taken and put on you and then your sin is taken and put on christ so now christ ideally the concept of imputation if i were to elaborate it you're here in the middle adam is here christ is here so the sin of adam by one man's disobedience sin enter the world so you receive the imputation of sin that is why you're not you're not a sinner because you sin you you know you're a sinner because of the nature of sin and that nature produces sin so the sin of the you are imp received the imputation of sin so you inherited the nature of sin because of adam then on this side now your sin and that nature is put on christ then christ takes his righteousness or other god takes christ's righteousness and he puts it on you so that now you have received an imputation of righteousness now because of christ you are now righteous or rather you have been made righteous that is why christ who knew no sin was made that's the actual word was made to be seen so that the righteousness of god in christ jesus would be your portion so in verse 8 we see the concept of imputation and and not only do we see the concept of imputation we also see the concept of sonship sonship through the spirit now we have made sense and in this we see the concept of adoption and and and when we look at adoption uh this is what we normally say uh when paul is writing to the to to to the roman church they understood that the law of adoption according to roman culture or according to the roman system an adoption in accordance with the roman system if you're a child and you are adopted into a family then you received everything or all rights of sanction as with the sons that were members of that house so all of us have received sonship through the holy spirit and then therefore now this sonship cries out in us our father so now because of this verse 16 is made uh more uh richer this is the spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of god and if children then heirs heirs of god and joined as with christ if indeed we suffer with him that we may be glorified together so now we have made joint heirs or that's the word core heirs we made joint heirs with christ so that which was promised to christ through abraham you know the promise of the seed we are now made heirs of that also because of adoption and you see these are interesting that not only are we just saved from sin we are now in we are now made part of god's family and we are given a right to that inheritance and how do you know you are part of them that shall inherit that is through ephesians chapter one that says we have received a deposit that is the holy spirit that is ephesians chapter one let me just read to you very quickly uh just doing a general overview then we shall we shall conclude ephesians chapter one um yes verse 13 the bible says in him you also trusted after you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation in whom also having believed you are sealed so the tamiya is sealed with the holy spirit of promise who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession to the praise of his glory so we have received the holy spirit of promise as a guarantee of our inheritance so there is an inheritance and what guarantees that inheritance is the holy spirit so and you know that just concludes that matter of adoption then we look at the concept of glorification this is also in chapter eight and and and we say glorification is the stage of salvation that is yet to happen and it's the completion of salvation so we were saved we are being saved then we shall be saved and this we shall be saved is glorification where when we shall see christ we shall be as he is and the corruption in our flesh shall be turned into incorruption and we shall now live in the glorious liberty of the sons of god and here we also looked at a very interesting concept in verse 26 says that it is not that we don't know how to pray it is that we don't know what we ought to pray for or we don't know what we should pray for as we ought it talks about the the item that was to be prayed for and the frequency of that item and he says you know uh this is uh how now or where in this uh infirmity in this weakness the holy spirit comes unto us as a helper and it helps us to know number one the why the the what and number two the how often that we should do that and he talks about about how all things work together for good and then it gives us the assurance that nothing high nor low nor you know wide nor narrow nor principality nor power can be able to separate us from the love of god so this is uh romans 8 then in 9 10 and 11 we we we look at the concept of israel and here uh we are able now to understand what he or who is the true israel of god there's israel the nation and then there's the israel of god the israel of god are the children of god and these children of god are them uh not only jews but but gentiles who have accepted christ and by that have received the nature of sonship and that nature of sonship have made them to be children of god and by this being children of god then they are the true israel of god then in in in 12th we we look at uh uh leaving sacrifices to go then now we come into the practicality of all the doctrine that we've learned in the book of romans and says now after all these things what are we supposed to do you know we are supposed to live a life of worship to god and worship we said is not just uh coming to sunday to lift up our hands before god and just saying rather but worship is the life that we live in outfluence towards god then we also look at the concept of the gifts of the father and we said that the gifts of the father are not just given to to believe us the gifts of the father are given to everyone so you can be an unbeliever but you're operating in some of these gifts and and in in in romans 12 6 we see these gifts that's what number one is prophecy number two is is service number three is teaching number four is exhortation or encouragement number five is giving number six is leading or administration and number seven is mercy uh you know the people who just love giving towards charity they are massive when they when they see people in need they are able to respond that's the gift of mercy and then it tells us how we we need to behave as christians that we should leave there's there's a way you see christianity is not a religion christianity is a lifestyle and as a lifestyle that is how we are supposed to then therefore model that lifestyle and christianity comes not only with new behaviors or new practices it also comes with a new language and a new way of life and now this is elaborated in romans 12 and tells us you know what let love be without hypocrisy love is the governing principle of the christian life and then it tells us that if possible and i believe that we can get to this place in verse 18. if it's possible as much as depends on you so the whether you live peaceably with all men or not is totally entirely dependent on you says it as much as depends on you so if you will it then it can be it that you live peaceably with all men in 13 we talk we look at the concept of uh our submission to government and in this uh we we look at government not just as as government as the institution that leads a country but government has authorities whom have been put in such a place to oversee the matters of any system it is always important that when a system is set in place and this system is governing people that there needs to be administration to that then as to finish romans 13 he tells us again let's put on christ let's love our neighbor and uh in this loving our neighbor we see the summation of the of the ten commandments there's the first fourteen that is the last six the first four are summarized when he says love god with all your heart with all your soul with all your might and then in the next six are summarized because these are commandments that deal with our relationship with one another and they're summarized in love your neighbor as you love yourself and we said it's very important for us to love ourselves so that self love and you know there's a conversation of self-love that leads to selfishness that's not that but there's the self-love of god that leads us in exuberance not only just to honor ourselves but out of that then to also honor others then in 14 we see the law of liberty and in this law of liberty you know we are we and this law of liberty and in verse 15 we come into the context or the context or of us christians we should be guided by love love should be our guiding principle and and he says you know because of this those who are strong should take care of the weak and and no matter how high we have rise in the ranks of the spirit we looked at there's the young man or there's the children who are struggling with sin there's the young men that have overcome the evil one and there is their fathers who have known him from the beginning so children have everything to do with sin consciousness the young men have everything to do with devil consciousness or rather overcoming that and then fathers have everything to do with experience they have experienced god and then therefore they can tell you about god because of their experience and then says regardless of which day you're in you're a father you're you're a young you're a young man or you're a child we should bear with one another the child should bear with the fathers the father should bear with the children so that they are able to grow up one another it's the father's responsibilities the responsibility of them that have gone ahead of their faith to raise the young people to raise the ones who have just come into salvation so that these ones are able to walk in the light of the gospel of god so we are supposed to bear one another with love we are supposed to have love as a guiding principle and because of love we are we are we come to a place where you say i'm not gonna do this because if it's not well with my brother or my neighbor who is also a believer i'd rather not do it for their sake and that is why at times there are some things that are not done not because they are they are wrong per se but because you know as a believer there are things you're gonna come into and out of experience of salvation you shall have conviction towards them and uh conviction goes deeper and grows deeper with uh maturity in the faith but guess what you might have a conviction concerning some things but because of the sake of new other believers that are coming up in the faith you are called upon not to do those things just for they are sick then paul concludes in verse 15 by by uh telling them about how uh he plans to visit them and in this we see about uh you know the poor in jerusalem and we see you know we talked about that concepts that that them that that labor for others that is a we see that in uh 27 he pleased them indeed that they are their debtors for if the gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things then their duties also to minister to them in material things we saw this concept it's also repeated in the book of galatians uh you know that and it's also repeated again in timothy should be timothy or titus that says count them wealthy count the elders who rule well and and labor in doctrine counter morality of double honor uh and in this concept is if people take time to labor in the spiritual things then it is your responsibility to outflow back to them in material things then this is chapter 16 which i'm gonna read and uh as we bring this to a close i believe i've done a very good summary you can also take time just write to us in the comment section or in our inbox tell us what are some of the things that you have learned in the book of romance you also have some questions on the same book you're also free to ask them that you know you might just take time to respond upon them so feel free right there in the comment section what are some of the things that you've learned in this amazing book i commend you to phoebe our sister who is a servant of the church in cantria that you may receive her in the lord in a manner worthy of the saints and a sister in whatever business she has need of you for indeed she or he has been a helper of many and of myself also so paul commends sister phoebe and it's important at times that uh that as a believer or as a minister or you know as one who does his work in the body of christ that you receive commendation you know commendation is you know someone has put in a good word for you because you are of noble character greed priscilla and aquila my fellow workers in christ jesus who risked their own necks for my life to whom not only i give thanks but also all the churches of the gentiles likewise greet the church that is in their house so priscilla and aquila happened to have been some of the people that really uh labored to establish the roman church and as you can see there was a church in their house great my beloved ephanetus who is the first fruit of a care to christ great mary who labored much for us great andronicus and junia my countrymen and fellow prisoners who are of not among the apostles who also were in christ before me so andronicus and junia ideally accepted jesus christ before paul that's why it says when christ before me and these people are of note they are noted among the apostles greet amphilos my beloved in the lord greet urbanas our fellow worker in christ and stuck is my beloved greater palace approved in christ can you be approved in christ greet those who are of the household of aristobullas greet herodion my countrymen cry those who are in the household of narcissus who are in the lord great tryphena and trifosa you know if you're looking for names to give your children these are good ones tryphena trifosa who have labored in the lord greet the beloved persons who labored much in the lord great rufus chosen in the lord and his mother and mine greet us as syncretis flagon hermas patrobas hermes and the brethren who are with them greet philologus and julia nerius and his sister and olympus and all the saints who are with them greet one another with the holy kiss the churches of christ greet you i know some of you are asking the holy kiss there this was how the church in the old testament used to greet and it was not a kiss on the lips rather it was it was you know it was like it was a kiss on the chips on the cheeks and this was ideally this was a jewish custom in the day it is not our custom today so don't tell us to practice holy keys it was just the custom of the jews in the day no in our day we you know we normally see the way people in church you know pass hugs and all that so you know they think and they can greet one another with a holy hag karusa now i add you brethren verse 17 not those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned and avoid them for those who are such do not serve our lord jesus christ by their own belly and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple for your obedience has become known to all therefore i am glad on your behalf but i want you to be wise in what is good and simple concerning evil and that the god of peace will crush satan under your feet shortly i know pastor rony really loves this scripture says that the god of peace will soon crush satan under your feet and you know this is is is talking about now that totality of salvation where satan and his uh his prophet you know shall be thrown in the lake of fire the grace of our lord jesus christ be with you amen and here is something very important just before we finish with greetings because again it goes back to greetings it's very important for us to note and i don't know whether you've seen a certain trend that's now coming in about people who now look like they're not preaching the gospel but what they are just doing is bashing others and bashing other doctrines listen dissension is not god's spirit it is good to all to once in a while point out the truth and to call people back to the truth but pushing the notion of dissensions and divisions and looking like you're bashing people all the time this is not god's spirit and that is why even the apostles came to a place and said let's do this this is not even the apostles this is the early church came to our place and said let's just lay out what we believe in i believe in god the father i believe in jesus christ's son who was born of a virgin mary who uh who suffered uh died and was buried who rose again on the third day uh and and and i believe in the holy spirit the holy universal the time they are catholic is actually translated universal so he says i believe in the body of christ and uh and in the i forgot oh my god have i forgotten the apostles creed i believe in the in the in the holy i believe in the holy spirit the holy catholic church and in the communion of saints and in the forgiveness of sins and unto life everlasting amen so uh that is the the that is the that is the what is the apostles creed these are the summary of the doctrines that the church believes in so when anyone comes in and looks like they're saying otherwise because it is contrary to the doctrine which you have learned then avoid them it is just wise to avoid uh desensitive or divisive people because these people ride in dissensions they right to divide and anything that divides is not of god but anything that unites people in the faith and in the doctrine of god that which we should always root for so anytime people come to you and they look like they're they're they're bringing divisions or factions this is not god's spirit god's spirit brings university it brings universality that's why we believe in the holy universal church that's why even in the book of ephesians paul writes and tells us the work of the fivefold is to edify the body of christ to train the saints for the work of the ministry and to bring us to a unity so anything that does not bring us to a unity we should question it and avoid it but anything that brings us into the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the son of god such as is the spirit of god and that is one of the ways that you can also know true men of god they spend more time teaching that which is the truth then in pointing out others people errors university one says timothy my fellow worker and lucius jason and saucy peter my countrymen they greet you i greet you in the lord so tatties is actually said to be uh paul's let me get this word this there's a word that we use because paulie not actually penned down all his letters they were penned he he narrated then they were penned down for him there's a word we call that uh that one has has disappeared but so tattias is the one who wrote this letter on behalf of paul so paul said the things that practice wrote is as though maybe pastor t is saying something i'm writing those things on his behalf he's the author but i am the one who pens uh the the the letter so uh titus arnold writes this episode he greets you the lord gaius my host and the host of the whole church greets you erastus the treasurer of the city greets you and quarters a brother so it's you can get to a level where you are a treasure of the city the grace of our lord jesus christ be with you oh amen now to him this is the benediction and uh i'll also benedict this upon you now to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel there is a level paul entered in unison in oneness with the gospel until it became his gospel there is a level you can come into oneness with christ until christ's message becomes your message hallelujah it is not your message becoming christ's message but it's christ's message becoming your message and that's where paul got to now him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of jesus he defines what his gospel is what is the gospel of christ the preaching of jesus christ according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now made manifest by the prophetic scriptures made known to all nations according to the commandment of the everlasting god for obedience to the faith to god alone wise be glory through jesus christ forever amen which is this mystery that was kept hidden and is now made manifest by the prophetic scriptures this mystery is the salvation of gentiles listen god heed that reality in the old testament but he now revealed it through jesus christ that now god does not just it was in god's plan from the beginning not to save just the jews but to save everyone but that was hidden he used israel the nation as a template to show us that now when we come into salvation this is how we relate with god and that is why this mystery was kept hidden but this one it has now been revealed and this is the mystery of concerning our salvation then he says no to god who is alone wise be glory through jesus christ forever are men so that is an amen to the book of romans such an interesting book i believe this book is you know this book is a very interesting book this is the kind of book that you can go back keep on reading it download these messages we took a lot of time uh just looking at the book of romance because it carries romance is a foundational book when it comes to salvation if you can be able to understand romans you can be able to understand salvation and i believe we've had an amazing time tomorrow we look at the book of exodus uh we begin from chapter one i believe uh pastor t is gonna be ready for this today he was at uh k24 uh for the was it the the seven o'clock news talking about uh the church and politics so i believe you can also take time to go and just look at that because there is a place where the church should be when it comes to politics and i know parasites is is is very accurate when it comes to church history and it's just important also at times to look at church history and see what happened to the church because the church is supposed to be above governance it's the church that should influence governance but it looks like in our day and time it is governance that is influencing the church that's not the order of god should go back to the original order so this major between church and politics came when uh this guy alexander the great and uh actually actually it's constantine the emperor who made uh christianity the the state religion in rome and it looked like there was a major between uh you know politics and governance and politics or other governance and the church in the day but ideally the church should influence the bible tells us in the book of micah that it shall come a time and a day there's a prophetic scripture where the the the mountain of the lord's temple that is the church shall be established upon every other mountain the seven mountains of influence and people shall say let us go into that mountain and i believe we are coming into such a time father we thank you for the revelation of your word we thank you also lord for your servant apostle timon even as he goes to address such pertinent matters in our day and time that we shall given the boldness to articulate matters as they ought thank you lord even for each and every one of the members that took their time to attend to today's bible study session i pray that me that which we have decoded become a blessing to them with that which we have read become reality to us i pray when you cause us to understand the scriptures and to fellowship in the reality of the scriptures that you o god be glorified in all things because you've called us into a life of worship we thank you lord for all the things you've done for us that you've justified us that you're sanctifying us and you're making us ready for glorification what an honor it is that all we needed to do was to accept you lay the entire framework for us and we are grateful and glad that you have invited us into sonship and now we can boldly be called sons of god we thank you o god and we give you praise in jesus mighty name we pray amen it's time to give it's time to worship god with a substance and the giving details are on your screen that is 370 and a person number for those of you who are you know sending uh not through and passable through other moments uh through other modes of transaction if you're if you're out of outside the country and you prefer to use wave remit or you're also in the country and that's just the platform you you decide to use two six seven one four seven one three on sunday we happened to go to commandora girls and uh we were there for for a sunday service and we were just there to test out uh the okay we are there to do the work of god and test out the speakers that we had just gotten there was the one speaker that was bought by mr pg and we said we're going to buy another one so by the giving or the collections of the people who support vision 2025 and also support the moments of hope bible study were able to buy not only another speaker worth 225 000 but we're also able to buy two monitors uh that we used for that so we had two two tops and two monitors we were able to effectively reach the young girls at camandora and a hundred of them gave their lives to christ so it was such a blessing and i pray lord that you know may may those who give towards such uh may those souls that were saved may they speak also to their accounts because that's also one of the ways that we partner with the work of god and with salvation so we still have six more speakers to go and uh eight best speakers we we didn't have any base speakers but we believed to get them and uh you know six more monitors and you know like a mixer that will complete that and we can comfortably go and minister our idea is when we have a big uh when we have a big um outreach we are able to go with all the eight with the three uh three thousand zita tent that one we we bagged it's now in a warehouse somewhere we're able to go out and reach out but the game plan is not only when we have that massive outreach but also we can break this uh sound that we are buying into four different sets and they can be going to out to four different schools every sunday we don't in we don't intend to sleep we intend to do the work of god because his coming is very nice so may god bless you may god keep you even as you uh keep on ministering to us as we minister to you in the gospel till tomorrow god bless you god [Applause]
