Behind The Mask – Part 2 (Romans 1:24-32)

let's stand together and i know as we begin to read again this portion of scripture i apologize for the breakup in the weeks i i had intended for us to go through this section of romans uh back week after week but because of the series of events that are going on and the timing of things we've had to break it up i say that in advance because for those of you who are visiting for the first time and you're not following along with us you're at a disadvantage today because as we as we jump into the word we're landing at a place where we started a couple of weeks ago and so uh you may not uh get the full uh scope of what we're doing this is an incredible portion of scripture i told the church several weeks ago it would take us two to three weeks to go through this and um and so do keep that in mind now in a few weeks we'll have to interrupt it again because we have the amazing opportunity to have uh secretary of state mike pompeo will be doing our sunday services on july 25th so we look forward to that as well but i ask for your patience i ask for your understanding for those of you who are not familiar with scripture i'm going to ask you to actually remain seated during the study and to listen to what god's word says you'll see the reason why in our scripture reading together so let's grab our bibles and turn to romans chapter 1 and we are in our responsive reading beginning at verse 24. we'll begin at verse 24 go down to verse 32 and what is part two of our message titled behind the mask what is going on behind the mask of our lives what's going on in the depth of our soul especially in our culture and our age i'll begin even-numbered verses verse 24. you can pick it up in verse 25. therefore god also gave them up to uncleanness in the lust of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among themselves for this reason god gave them up to vile passions for even the women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature for even as they did not like to retain god in their knowledge god gave them over to a debased mind to do those things which are not [Applause] fitting backbiters haters of god violent proud boasters inventors of evil things disobedient to parents who knowing the righteous judgment of god that those who practice such things are deserving of death not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them wow father lord i thank you that i stand confident today in your word and there's no hesitation to teaching this it is your bible in fact that testimony alone god as we look around our world is proof positive evidence that we are living in the last days this 2000 year old statement by the apostle it's as though we're yanking out of tomorrow's headline news what's going on in our world none of us in the gathering of this message can deny that what we just read a moment ago is an act of truth in our world these things are taking place so father we pray that you'd give us an ability right now to take and receive your truth god that we would process all that is going on in life through the word of god and father when it's all said and done and when time has expired may it be said of us that we were followers of jesus christ and god i pray and you know my heart on this that this book of romans because of the influx and the growth of this ministry this is the best book of our doctrine to go through right now the great doctrines of the bible found in this book so lord please you be the one who teaches us we ask it in jesus name and all god's people said amen you can be seated and as we look to this i got to tell you up front right now please i'll give you a second to get situated there's the distraction of getting comfortable right now and digging in am keenly aware that teaching on these portions of scripture is something that results in negative church growth you have to understand something that's not why ministry exists pastors and ministries are not ordained by god to be palatable or likable to the culture that doesn't mean we're brazen and mean either it means that we uphold the truth of god and we do it in love and as we do that there's the power of the word that goes out and it's like an axe that's laid to the root of a tree it cause and it causes division truth divides people everyone listen up unity is impossible unity is impossible without agreement an agreement requires something agreement upon what that is agreement as believers upon the doctrines of god you cannot come together and say let's have unity you have to be unified around something do you understand that that's something for the true follower of jesus christ are the doctrines of god and that's truth unity must surround and be gathered around truth as believers and sometimes the truth stings and it hurts and i say that because i'm keenly aware that as i mention the things that i'm mentioning today through the bible there are those at youtube and google actually it's not people it's the people who have engineered their algorithms computers listen to published or spoken words be it on your phone be it on your device what you're searching for and there is a massive super computer system that tabulates and counts words and certain types of words and when that happens to a certain point it triggers a response and the computer shuts down that broadcast or that website or that blog or that youtube post and things have been designed that way by the woke big tech entities i just said woke and big tech so it gave him a few more things and so what happens is i am keenly aware you have to understand something that uh this little mini series here in the book of romans can absolutely get our messages thrown off the air and believe me the thought constantly enters my mind well if i really say what you would have me to say god then then we could lose our youtube audience and god says to my heart i don't care i'll take care of them well if i really say that then facebook's going to remove us god says to me i got this far without facebook i got it from here jack and so i want you to know today that i'm going to be giving you the pure truth of god with this hope in mind that if any of these things apply to your life you will run like christian in pilgrim's progress john bunyan's great classic and you'll run as it were out of and from the city of destruction and you run to the celestial city that is of god's salvation of god's salvation and hope and joy and it goes for all of us because as we look at this we saw predominantly paul addressing this issue of men with men and women with women but remember there was a list that you read a moment ago that you and i wanted to take a shower after reading them know this all of us every single one of us need salvation that comes through jesus christ but we must repent of our sins and come to christ no one can bring their sins to christ and say i want to believe in you but will you approve of this god says no way why because he loves you too much he loves you so much he tells you what's wrong and what needs to change and what he can set you free from and every single one of us need to be set free from certain things that dog our lives and plague our souls but we're talking about issues today that go right up against the great shrines of our modern world and our age right now and that is emotion feelings and all around the world churches now have succumbed to an emotionally based theology and we will preach and we will go with what makes us feel good in fact i want to show you a very famous cover of time magazine on good friday april 8 1966 time magazine published its famously controversial cover story is god dead and i'm reading right from the article now placing that star query in bold and red lettering against the all black background time magazine informed its readers that those three words represent a summons to reflect on the meaning of our existence written by times religion editor john elson the article attempted to capture quote the nation's shifting theological mood from the complacent faith of the 1950s to the metaphysical confusion of the 1960s the cover itself quickly became an icon of the periods social and religious transformations john lennon suggested that the beatles were more popular than jesus christ among contemporary youth elsin framed his story as a clarion of the new atheism of the 1960s a testimony to and i quote a cultural crisis of faith in which the very premise of a personal god was coming undone and that's a true statement our culture continued from 1966 to slide downward and i want to remind you the psalmist wrote to us in psalm 14 of verse 1 the fool has said in his heart there is no god they are corrupt they have done abominable works there is none who does good the lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there are any who understand and who seek god they have all turned aside they have together become corrupt there is none who does good no not one and god looked down from heaven in 1966 and he saw the cover of time magazine is god dead but the whole movement of that article and that story really was reflective upon a culture that had systematically been forgetting god and when a nation forgets god we see the results of that in romans chapter one in church we just scratched the surface in our first study on this so join in with me as we look behind the mask we're talking about verses 24 and 25 is the abuse that there's an abuse in all kinds of facets or angles abuse of the mind abuse of the body abuse of the soul but we saw in verse 24 where it says therefore god gave them up and we studied that and we looked at this key thing that god gave them up to the abuse of the soul himself or itself the soul the psychology of man that's what that word soul means suke is the greek word for soul and it's where we get the word psychology the study of the mind and when we forget god and when we begin to extract god out of our lives we begin to forget about god we don't think about god and the first thing that begins to go south is our soul the thinking of a man or of a woman and then we saw and this is where we left off the verse went on to show us that there's an abuse of the body soul mind body your physical existence it says that he gave them up to uncleanness into the lust of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among themselves verse 25 opens up by saying who exchanged the truth of god for the lie in church this is where we uh pick up our study now according to god listen let's just take this as a bunch of uh skeptics according to god's word god's bible tells us that there's a lie out there that results in us believing it and what is the result of that lie being believed is that we embark upon the destruction of our physical bodies now this seems very odd because as we grow further on in time man has a tendency to take care of his body more primping and praying and fixing and i can't i'm sorry i got to tell you jay vernon mcgee said now i'm not talking about putting on makeup jay vernon making you ever read him you ever listen to him oh it's beautiful i got to tell you it may not fit exactly but you got to have it this would be worth the drive just to hear this dr j vernon mcgee said god is not talking about you putting on makeup if you need it he said by all means if the barn needs painting paint it but he's not talking about that he's talking about an over interest and throughout history when cultures go to the extreme they become obsessed with the physical and we're living at a time like that but the sad thing is because we are spiritual creations it's about dishonoring the bodies according to god's definition remember that to dishonor their bodies among themselves that is that they they team up with one another with the intent listen to this to mismanage their bodies who would do such a thing to hurt their bodies to degrade their bodies to use their bodies to break their bodies to misuse to molest and to undo their bodies so says god you either believe today in chance crash evolution or you believe in the existence of god but whatever you believe in it's got to be able to explain what's going on in our world today if you're evolutionist then you say eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die and it doesn't matter there's no morality this is what's so convenient about evolution you get to do anything you want to and we don't have to call our legislators anymore to tell them don't pass that bill it's ill for our community or it's a it's wrong for our children we don't have to call them anymore because if evolution if an accident rules then [Music] what did doris day say whatever will be will be what a horribly fatalistic view but then god says no you know what i made you in my image and you have a stamp inside of your soul if you're a believer or not you've been stamped my son came into the world and he's the one responsible for giving every human light that is illumination of thinking that the existence of god is something that people have to listen wrestle out of themselves rather than wrestle in the existence of god did you know that people by god's creation has stamped you with a built-in argument regarding the existence of god you've got to work hard at getting god out of your heart and out of your life and out of your thinking but we read in romans 1 that it's destruction if you do it's a terrible thing and so it's this teaming up the book of jude chapter one there's only one chapter so the you're safe with jude don't ask me what chapter it's chapter one verse 22 says and on this uh on on some have compassion that is when preaching the gospel on some have compassion making a distinction that word means making a judgment call it means when the believer is sharing with somebody listen when you're sharing with somebody who's absolutely already devastated you the christians to make a judgment call on that and reach out to them with love and compassion because that's what they need but look what jude goes on to say verse 23 says but another is saved with fear pulling them out of the fire hating even the garment defiled by the flesh see what does that mean there are some people that are brazenly stuck in their sin and they don't see anything wrong with it and to those people you have to say to them listen it gives me no pleasure to tell you that you're heading on a path of absolute destruction and then comes hell and jesus came so you don't have to do that stop doing this to you that's using fear that's not fear like boo or it's it's the fear of truth some say with compassion some graphically portraying the end of their ways and this is vitally important why because everything i say to you friends listen up everything i say to you from this moment on and back actually has been everything i've been saying to you thus far it's going to come out strong it's going to come out direct but you need to know something i love you you can hate me i don't listen i don't care sometimes i hate me so i'll join up with you sometimes but i'm telling you this right now because i we want you to go to heaven with us we don't want you to believe the lie we're living in a demonically energized age when good is wrong and wrong is right and black is white and evil is good and good is evil left is right and right is left but there's a voice from the word of god speaking to you about truth that will save you and rescue you he says in this the word uncleanness and i'm going to give you a barrage of information right now that may or not may or may not mean anything to you but uncleanness that word means impurities tainted it's in relation to metals a metal that is not fully uh purged or purified of its impurities in other words contaminants so he says there are those who have contaminants there's impurities in their lives and he goes on that there's lust this word lust means inflamed passions it paints the picture of in them and i talked about this last time and within them there's a striking of a match and there's a burning and i mentioned i'm going to say it again in case you missed it i don't know anything about being a woman i don't intend to ever be a woman i will never uh i don't have that temptation to claim such a thing so i'm going to talk about men right now and i told you this before guys listen up women you won't know what i'm talking about but the guys notice that lust in a man is not in some body part it's not it's not here but when a man lusts it's it's right here in this region it's a strange thing if you want to say it's in the heart i understand what you mean it's in the proximity of the chest to the mid abdomen area there's a burning that's right here and that's where lust strikes i don't know why that's the case i don't know if anybody knows why that's the case but it's true and it's right i think it's significant that it's right in the middle of the person and this fire begins so whoever we're talking about they have impurities in their lives that they've allowed to stew to be there to continue and then they feed upon it they stoke it and they begin to lust instead of resisting the temptation it's let loose to do whatever and what does it lead to first corinthians six verse nine uh verse eighteen first corinthians 6 18 says flee sexual immorality i'll come back to this in a second every sin that a man does is outside of the body but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body you need to write that down yes all sin is sin to god but on our side there are certain sins that have certain ramifications and according to the bible sexual immorality destroys our our physical bodies i find that fascinating we certainly know today by the amount of prescriptions being written for sexual dysfunction issues that many of them nowadays are being written to younger generations because of pornography and that's that word sexual immorality pornea and again we'll talk about this more and then the word dishonor it leads to dishonoring the body now none of this is happy talk i know listen church listen up but you just stop and ask yourself man am i sitting in a room where i'm hearing facts right now i love the i love the fact that you're in church hearing about facts i would never go to a church that calls me to check my brains out at the door before i come in i i wouldn't go i'm asking you to think and again remember we're coming at it as a skeptic does the bible talk about a people group who at a time would begin to dishonor their bodies with lust and the word dishonor is to devalue to treat yourself or another in an unworthy manner that's interesting because it assumes that there's worthiness to them to treat another shamefully to use someone for your own pleasure the word means to hold in contempt or to deconstruct i find it amazing it's not in my notes you won't see it there if you're following but if my member serves me right didn't amnon remember david's son amnon he was kind he was a pervert amnon and amnon saw one of his sisters and the bible says she was really cute and amnon faked that he was sick so she would come and bring him soup and it said that he was just crazy he was crazy hot for her and when she came to bring him soup he disregarded the soup and grabbed her took her clothes off and raped her and then the bible says as soon as he raped her he looked at her and he hated her that's called a rape and that comes from listen viewing that person and any person in a devalued manner as christians i don't care how debased a human being is i don't care if it's some guy going to the electric chair what breaks our heart about that is the fact that that person was created the image of god and they went wrong and it breaks our heart to see someone crash their lives that alone should cause every one of us as christians to get up and to engage our culture to try to make it honoring to god because you know what even the atheist will benefit from that they just don't know it they fight against us but they don't even know why we're like parents trying to give the little ones vegetables and here's a big word church family see the word exchange they exchanged that scripture says to that he gave them up to the uncleanness of the lust of their hearts to dishonor their bodies among themselves who verse 25 exchange the truth of god for a lie the word exchanged listen carefully this so defines our moment it means to attempt to change one thing to another to go about to exchange the purpose or the design or the use or the intent of something for which it was not purposefully designed to do useful making it now useless to deviate from what is normal or functional does that word not describe the argument of today in our media and in our public schools and the bible says it's all a lie i can't believe you said that pastor this is my point this is why i have to talk about this well you shouldn't because the media will counsel you listen here's the fun part about who i get to be you got for those of you who don't know how can they cancel me because listen 63 years ago my mother tried to cancel me and that abortion attempt failed so if listen i as far as i'm concerned i was scheduled to die 63 years ago so any day that i have now is a bonus and if you if you want to cancel me if you want to cancel me just know this i expect you to do that so in that i'm canceling you because i have to speak the truth because you know what i'm going to heaven and listen it's this truth that rescues people you're not stuck you are not stuck in a world that preaches that you can be exchanged from one thing to the next based upon their cultural experiment you don't have to listen to that you do not have to listen to them listen to the god who made you he's speaking to you he loves you and he built you for a purpose as an intent for why you are a male and a female there's a reason and when you do not believe in god then you will temper to try to change things and in that you are molesting at least seeking to molest truth which hallelujah you cannot do the third thing that we see under this in verse 25 is that there's the abuse of the spirit what's behind the mask in a day and age in which you and i live in is the abuse of the spirit look at verse 25 says and they worshipped and served the creature rather than the creator who was blessed forever did you get that it's worship it's spirit they worshipped and served the creature again i want to pick on evolutionists just because they're it's so fun i don't believe in god i believe in accidents i believe and notice that when they depart from god they look to the things of creation to give them an answer and so they say things like this is where we came from what do you care if it's all an accident no they care because they have to explain it why so how did it happen this happened and then there was this a pool that had some ammonia in it and there's a lightning strike and this life was formed in that thing and then eventually there's this little thing swimming around and then it had an eye it got an eye and it rubbed because it had it got a leg and it started to rub and it got a face and then it needed another eye so it started to rub on this side and it got an eye and then it needed to fly so it went from being a lizard to a bird and see we laugh at that because that is illogical and it is certainly unscientific but you and i have been lied to in school because they told us in school you know we're just looking for the missing link did you know what that implies we've got the whole chain we're just missing this little link you know what they've invented a link in their head and they ain't got no chain it's not the missing link you're missing the whole chain because it doesn't work god says i'm the creator and you are the created god says i know what i'm doing and today you judge i know you don't like this message i i know you don't like it and you're gonna those of you who like it you'll have no problem parking next week it'll be fine but here's the truth it's truth and your spirit is prone to worship you will worship and when we reject god we worship creation rather than the creator i find that fascinating it speaks of inordinate affections and i read to you now the more men and women seek to honor their bodies focus on them being the priority the looks the feel the appearance the more they are given over to the demands of the body boy isn't that true the physical drives and appetites of the creature side of us spells death by immersion that is this and we all know it's true listen you start tampering with something and at first at first you think your the thought is i shouldn't do that i don't think i should do that and then you do that and you go oh my gosh that was so i felt so great that was so much fun but i can't do that again right and then the opportunity is either brought to you or you go to it and you and then you go again and then a third time and then the tenth time until here's here's here's how you know you're in trouble what once you pushed away from and labeled as wrong because it is you now are making plans on how to do it and when that's not enough you bring others in on it because when we go to cover our tracks as it were there's a weird thing about us that we have a sense of it's okay if others are doing it so we will entice others to get involved in it so we can step back and say how wrong could i be i'm just like them they're just like me everybody's doing it did you know that's the foundation to that statement everybody's doing it whatever you want to do and you don't feel good about it you will say everybody's doing it and you're on a slippery slope and that's in the spirit leads to destructive acts regarding every pagan culture it's studied throughout human history the evidence is overwhelming which is this when the one true monotheistic god of the bible is rejected that culture creates icons images or idols to fill the void that their decision has created what is interesting is that the man creates images listen to this of himself often portrayed as a deified hybrid part human part animal that is then given over to extreme sexual perversion sexual abuse and addictions see man wow yeah you know what look at greek and roman greco-roman mythology man by him when man rejects god and he wants to be god himself he can only take that for so long because he knows his he has imperfections so what does he do he winds up linking himself with animals i grew up watching cartoons hercules do you remember hercules sidekick who was a sidekick remember that little guy pan he was a man's body with a goat i mean a man's torso with a goat body did you know that in greco-roman mythology the the deities are like that that's why you see things like titan and you see things like the minerva you see things like those greco-roman gods and their human animal mixtures of demigods or deities see that's ridiculous isn't it so isn't it but why do these things traffic throughout all human existence because when man forgets god and rejects god then man seeks to fill the void and he winds up deifying himself but he knows that he lacks so much because he can't fly so he gives himself wings he can't swim so he gets a mermaid type tail he can't fill in the blank run around listen oh my goodness i'm not gonna wow look at it later maybe you shouldn't don't know but those greek mythological gods notice that they are half animal half human always out in nature and always involved in outdoor sexual exploits and there's always bacchus wine flowing intoxication is it interesting that people that engage in these things that forget god isn't it interesting and a friend of mine died this way by the way i had a friend dear friend who was a homosexual he died of aids and last words to me were these jack don't let anyone tell you in what we do as being gay there's nothing gay about it i live the most miserable broken life possible and it's a tragedy he was lamenting and he died and all of that is covered up by extreme drug use and alcoholism and pot and you name it pills why why because they know they're broken satan hates them he wants to destroy them even further and the gospel in your heart church is the only answer for them you've got to love them well that person over there they're a so-and-so so what you know what some people's sins are really obvious some not so it's all sin and don't think for a moment as i'm teaching on romans that we're letting the adulterer off or that young couple who's fornicating all over themselves letting them off we're not letting them off sexual immorality so what are you picking on that for because i read a lot ago in corinthians that when you do those sins you sit against your own body not popular but it could save a culture what about the ruin of the family we've been told for the last 10 years in california the family can be whatever you want it to be who says that who invented that people who have forgotten god god says this is a family here's my i invented it god says this is a family i i've defined it god says this is how it works skeptic in the house play with me for a moment god says this is a family this is how it works this is how life is to be lived this is how a village is made this is how a city is made this is how a nation is made this is how the world is populated silly god he's so narrow-minded that's all he knows then somebody comes along in this state and invents no fault divorce that was probably the greatest damage california has ever exported to the world is no fault divorce because listen really the bedrock to no fault the force was this hey look you know you and i don't get along anymore and uh we have irreconcilable differences and we're gonna go do our own thing oh that's right i forgot we have kids who cares i'm gonna do what pleases me and they walked out on their kids the family it is a satanic plan to destroy the value and the glory of the human being and to do that he must destroy the family structure that god has ordained which is a model of the trinitarian relationship between the godhead by the way these things i'm reading i wrote them i'm just i'm reading them because i don't usually just read things verbatim it's just because they mean so much to me because i think they're so in line with the scripture and address our culture that i want to read them methodically the family today we are being told on commercials and in uh everywhere a family is what is what you want it to be but you know that's not true and i'll prove it to you in a moment there are books right now that are being taught to our public school kids in california where uh i have two daddies my family is i have two daddies that's not true yes yes of course it is true if you don't believe in god that's your truth but there is the truth and god says this is a family i'm going to show you why in a moment the end of marriage marriage between a man and a woman is the social institution created by god that provides the societal and foundational backbone to a civilization according to the bible there are three key institutions created by god that are fundamental those three institutions are according to the bible family church government there is no basic foundation more necessary for human existence than the traditional natural family units without a husband and a wife creating children there would be no family life which means that there would be no church which means there would be no government did you know what i just said without a family structure defined by god there would be no family there would be no church there would be no government where do you think government comes from what do you think makes up a church you say i'm still not getting you hang on there's no exchanges it should be noted that any deviation from the model from that model results in self a self-destruct mode that has no ability or means to advance the culture or to procreate life it can only survive in the moment and it has no future do you know what i'm talking about when two people of the same sex get together it's out of sheer wanton lust and pleasure only for self nothing comes of it no life can come from it no family can come from it and let me insert this if you're an evolutionist you have to be against same-sex union if you're an evolutionist by the way where have been the evolutionist on this topic because listen if you're an evolutionist what's one of the statements it's the survival of the fittest right and in evolutionary theory the survival of the fittest has to procreate that's why you watch they study all the animals and there's the big elk you know the big bull elk and what does he have to do every spring he has to take on the young elks beat him up and this and the strong one the stronger by natural selection the strong one survives he impregnates all the other uh elkies [Applause] does elf elkats i don't know the and and so he looks over his harem and they're all producing babies and he's like yes and evolutionists say right on that's it see it's an action but if evolution's true then there would be no such thing as homosexuality because over the last 400 trillion billion zillion quad billion zillion million years evolution would have washed that out homosexuality lbgtq actions prove the existence of god because god's word says this is would be some of the outcome and actions of the last days i'm going to give you some information i'm going to give you the website it's at www.fathersforlife.org children from homes without a male father figure because i'm responding you see to we can be a family too we can do this we can do it better than some of you here's the issue children without fathers or a male influence seven times more likely to live in poverty by the way i'm going to give you these statistics and they're going to break your heart but i've had people in my face tell me that doesn't matter because i want to do what i want to do and in that you prove my point seven times more likely to live in poverty six times more likely to commit suicide 50 percent more likely to commit a crime these are kids without dads 52 percent more likely to become pregnant out of wedlock sixty percent of america's rapists grew up without a father oh man 63 percent of youth suicides are uh are hap are happening among fatherless children seventy percent of school delinquencies are from fatherless homes seventy one percent of teen pregnancies are from fatherless homes 72 at 72 percent of high school dropouts are from fatherless homes 73 percent of youth on youth murders wow are from fatherless homes 86 percent of youth prison of the youth prison population grew up without a male role model 87 percent of youth behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes 90 of america's runaways are from fatherless homes god established god made the family unit for a reason every kid needs a dad and every kid needs a mom and listen listen i know many over 50 percent of the christian community are raising their children as a single parent that breaks my heart it breaks your heart but listen as painful as that is it shows you the age in which we're living in listen i need to wrap this up we pick it up next time here's the thing every single one of us deal with temptations if you think you're exempt from temptations you have the bigger problem temptation is not a sin temptation is what either my flesh wants launches at me this world launches at me or satan launches at me okay and when it hits me i'm supposed to wrestle with it and keep it away from me listen you know in your mailbox you ever get checked mail that stuff doesn't even make it to my house my trash cans are on the side of the yard i go to the mailbox which is in the front of the yard and i can't get to my front door without going by the trash cans and so i get the mail and then as i'm going whoop whoop i'll keep this whoop whoop i'll keep this whoop are you with me it's called junk mail a lot of stuff that enters into your heart in your mind your head junk mail and you're supposed to throw it away constantly but when you don't do that and then you embrace it and it becomes part of your thinking part of your soul part of your spirit then you go to great lengths to defend it because you've already been given over to it you never put it in the trash but i want to tell you today if this message is resonating with anyone right now that means god's speaking to you you may be sitting here today saying i can't stand you i hate you i i understand that that's not the point don't you think i thought about this stuff before i came out here honestly come on i was informed yesterday a friend came over and said man my my relative was working down in orange county and they haven't they saw you on fox news or whatever it was and they mentioned it to somebody at work and that the person said oh you saw him on the i can't stand that guy and the guy went yeah um yeah and then the very same day wound up sharing it with another co-worker and said oh yeah you know what i watched that church online and the guy goes why but why why have i lied to you have i robbed you have i tricked you have i begged you have i somehow uh no no you gave us the truth and thank you i work hard at that this is not let's beat somebody up thing look i gotta i gotta be honest with you homosexuality when i was not a christian was not my thing i was not even tempted other things in the bible say jack you are so busted other things i was red hand red-handed okay but listen for you just because you're tempted with homosexual thoughts doesn't mean that you're homosexual listen it means that satan's launching he's finding a weakness and he's shooting because here's what he do here's what he'll do he will find he will and he's smart he's looking for a kid that's got either a very absent or wimpy or no father at all and he'll shoot thoughts of confusion something said something tv cartoon nickelodeon youtube for kids satan's pulpit and the kid starts thinking and the kid will come and say or now public school public school where teachers say hi class listen listen if you if you're a girl and you had a thought about kissing a girl then you must possibly be lesbian really no listen when there's no god you make stuff up in a christian school i hope the teacher would say that's satan shooting at you thoughts that we are supposed to take captive and bring under the power of the cross of christ just because you have the temptation doesn't mean you act on it listen just because you have a temptation doesn't mean you act on it it's true i have a ford truck it has 10 speeds and i can press the button for manual which means it only shifts when i tell it to shift which means i take off from a light and it's a truck for crying out loud but it goes and i'm going through the gears but in my mind you know what i hear i'm not in a truck i'm alexander rossi [Applause] [Laughter] i'm in this open-wheeled incredible formula one car and it's not a truck i'm like this and i'm like going through long beach grand prix and then i remember it's ford it's a truck i was tempted i was tempted to be driving a race car i was tempted to try to get my truck to go like a race car but then i woke up to reality and i brought my thoughts under control and then the light turned green and i went came back to life because you're tempted doesn't mean that you are that thing and because you're tempted it doesn't mean you're supposed to act on it because if people acted on everything that they were tempted this world would be absolutely on fire right now and you'd be run over by a very fast black truck with an idiot behind the wheel making race car sounds you can't act on those temptations we need to remember that we're out of time uh it's too much it's too much no listen can church let's stand together [Applause] because you know i can feel the mail coming now but i i got to tell you this is why jesus christ went to the cross if you think i'm beating anybody up just wait till we get to chapter two no because listen it won't be about sexuality chapter two is going to be all about self-righteousness okay so there's enough in the book of romans to offend every one of us but when god when god pricks our hearts it's to quicken love and salvation within us to those who are being described here in the book of romans and you've been sold a bill of goods by a godless age i want you to hear this god forgives all manner of sin you can be upset and you can be hot under the collar and you can be very moved right now in whatever way but the fact is god saw you and he saw me through the quarters of time because he's eternal and he knew that on this day on this sunday you'd be hearing this and he wants to give you life he wants you to have now a new life if you just calm down and get away from other people's voices and you get alone with him you will hear him say i want you to come to me but i need you to hand me that thing you're going to cut yourself i want you to come to me put that thing down come here he wants to pull you from the edge of the window he wants to pull you away from the brink and he's saying to you right now you know what you're doing and what you're thinking is harmful and you know that when you first heard about this it didn't sit well with you that was me speaking to you please and jesus said to all those who are forgiven much they love much what an amazing god are you a big radical sinner then you can give him your sin he will give you his life and you you will put everybody else to shame we're all going to want to be like you because you'll be the biggest lover of god because much has been washed away isn't he wonderful isn't he precious hallelujah so father magnify the cross in the hearts of these today magnify the reality of an empty tomb and magnify the reality that a 2 000 year old book called the book of romans anticipated this morning we look to jesus all to him we owe sin has left its crimson stain but he has washed it as white as snow well hey thanks for listening and we appreciate you and of course we do
