welcome to another Baldur's Gate 3 video on base Bellagio in today's video we're going to discuss how to get the best performance and frames and minimal stutter out of Baldur's Gate 3. in my settings and performance guide this will especially be helpful if you have a low end to mid-range PC and you want to get maximum frames out of the game first thing you want to match your monitors resolution obviously set the refresh rate to whatever the monitor is then I would disable vsync and use a frame rate cap and cap it to where you want it underneath your monitor's refresh rate so you do not get screen tearing if you do get screen tearing you probably have a powerful GPU that you could turn on vsync if you don't have a g-sync monitor now the settings that affect your frames the most we will talk about will go down each one and I'll tell you how it affects it the model quality not as much as you may think but if you look at the details between medium and high it's not that much of a difference so if you need to get some frames you can lower this to medium detail distance will eat at your frames on a lower end graphics card turn this to medium and also your instance distance if this is too high on a lower end PC this could affect it you want this at medium all this does is load objects in the farther away you are texture quality the difference between medium and high you can notice a difference definitely sharper detail on the high this does affect frames per second but not as much as you think after you adjust everything else if you're still getting some performance hiccups lag stutters you want to lower the texture quality same thing with filtering lower this if you're getting some stutters 16x is pretty good for modern day gpus animation level of detail does not quite affect frames that much it more affects vram RAM usage hard drive usage for people that have this game on a hard drive not an SSD solid state drive they actually have a setting for you this is interesting this is especially useful for people that have very good graphics cards but still are not using ssds or this game is so massive you might not have room on an SSD you would click this and your system would use more RAM and re-ram and offload your hard drive usage a little bit Dynamic crowds does impact performance and they warn you up above you would want to turn this off if you are experiencing lag stutters or sub-optimal frames now the most important is shadow quality this is where a lot of the FPS gets eaten up the difference between medium and high in my opinion is of personal preference it is not that bad on medium but High you could see it's a more crispy Shadow Cloud quality for me this was on Ultra I turned it down to high because the difference between Ultra and high in my opinion is nothing the difference between high and medium is not that big of a deal if you need an extra boost in your FPS lower this to medium same with fog quality the difference is not that much and it definitely eats away your FPS I am going to turn mine from Ultra to High I don't think there's a need to be ultra fog quality now your post processing settings if you have a two thousand three thousand or four thousand series Nvidia graphics card you can't turn on the dlss this will give you a huge boost in frames in my opinion because this game doesn't have Ray tracing I don't see a need to use dlss unless I I need a boost in performance maybe an area of the game is lagging I haven't gotten through the game yet you would turn this on to help out or again if your system is a little older but your graphics card a little newer this will give you the frame boost you need utilize it sharpening is definitely going to cause some drop in performance turn this off if you do not need it or need the Boost same on anti-aliasing all the way down the lower on the list you go the more performance you're going to need ambient occlusion turn this off if you're looking for frames or performance this will eat a performance depth of field is an interesting little thing this will cause blurring to give you a sense of depth I haven't played the game enough to see if I want this on or off I'm keeping it on circular for now it might go down to none we'll see I do like depth of field but not if it's too crazy and this definitely will affect performance turn this to none if you're experiencing issues I personally cannot tell the difference between the depth of field qualities of quarter denoise or quarter comment down below if this matters for performance God Rays turned this off if you need performance same with Bloom and same with subsurface scattering all three of these look pretty decent if you can have them on I would have them on again all these are personal preference but you don't want to play a game on completely low also for NVIDIA graphics cards you can go into the Nvidia control panel you should have these settings on anyway but you can generally make your graphics card be at a maximum performance level at all times you can make it just for Baldur's Gate 3. I highly recommend you do this it'll make it perform better in a game like this it's not a first person shooter you're not playing competitively in my opinion anything above 40 frames per second is is A-Okay for me now I say that in this video in all reality it's anything above 50 frames per second but 40 is a-okay if you have any tricks comment down below what you use to get better frames better performance are you experiencing lag do you think the game is well optimized I'd love to hear your comments down below also hit that thumbs up button it helps out the channel more than you can imagine hit that subscribe button if you want to see more video game content more Baldur's Gate 3 content and thank you all for watching I want to thank my patreons and people that share this video thank you all have a great rest of your day [Music] thank you [Music]
