what is the flavor family it is art and Bobby back at the grocery store Mariano's and Ravenswood thank you once again for inviting us so we don't have to be worried about getting kicked out for a video all about drumroll please bacon right how to buy the best bacon at the store and then after we leave the store we'll go back to the kitchen and show you how to make them best bacon in the kitchen it ain't rocket science right but I have a way in the oven on a sheet tray that makes crispy delicious bacon that has no mess so like subscribe share all those good things there's a bell icon right below the video and Mabel all notifications because every single week art and I are rocking out three to four videos and this video is sponsored by thrive market a longtime sponsor of the channel which has the only pasture-raised pork I could find that is next level thrive market has pasture-raised pork from a small family farm in Georgia called white oak pastures it's a truly 100 cent pasture raised pork product non-gmo feed gap for certified and they feed the pigs peanuts and pasture-raised eggs the eggs sometimes have cracks in the shell they can't sell it then give it to the pigs I have a link in the description box buy yourself a pork bundle use my promo code get a year-long membership and you get $20 off your next order if you don't like it you can cancel in 30 days but this is some of the best pork I'll talk more about it later on it's amazing stuff so thank you for sponsoring the video all right we look at this wall of pork here and the problem is in any grocery store 90% of the bacon here is not gonna be the stuff you want to get reason why it's gonna be stuff like this right this is traditional bacon we here we see at the grocery store from Oscar Meyer the problem with this kind of bacon is before we even get to the ingredients on the back it's the type of Pig it is pig farming is a dirty dirty business to guys and like I said you can't find a pasture raised pork at the grocery store it's very hard to find organic pork meaning it's commercially farmed mass farmed feedlot style pig farming and the problem with that is that it's a atrocious living at all atrocious as an atrocious living condition for the pigs they eat an exclusive diet of GMO soy and corn from Monsanto and they're never free to forge and the problem with that is that it's very bad for the environment because they're in these feedlots it's dirty either creating poop runoff that contaminates the environment when you might be like well I don't care about the environment Bobby I just care about the pork well this kind of pork also has a inferior nutritional profile because it's eating GMO grain and it's never moving around and foraging so it has a higher omega-6 if it's more inflammatory because of that this is the kind of pork and bacon you do not want to eat so another reason why you don't want to eat it as we look at the ingredients here so something you'll almost always see in mass commercialized bacon is sodium phosphates right so what is sodium phosphates mm-hmm sometimes I forget I might want to pull out the all-new Bobby approved eBook shopping guide and type in sodium phosphates here and it goes straight to that chapter sodium phosphates no avoid this ingredient it's a common preservatives in lunch meat and in bacon it preserves the meat it also makes it more pink more easily cause major health issues this my friends is a new Bobby approved eBook shopping guide I'll talk about it more but the link is in the description box this is a combination of all the videos we've ever done all the information in one little ebook it's gonna update for free once you buy it twice a month so it's gonna have all the information to make your shopping experience the best ever I'm really excited about that so they also add sugar to this kind of bacon so this is the kind of bacon you want to avoid let's quickly go to something more positive since we're talking about such a negative thing so where do you go here right because there's no pasture-raised bacon at the grocery store the only other option would be certified humane and sugar-free paleo bacon so what do I mean by that I mean Applegate and I mean Niman ranch I love this one uncured sundae bacon but why is this important because Applegate rocks the body number one it is humanely raised pork and this one from Niman ranch here is actually certified humane that means the pigs aren't in that atrocious living condition where they're in those mass feed Lots and never moved it's still not great right these are not pigs are free to realm but it really means something and the cool thing about Applegate at least for this one it's USDA Organic Art look at this entire wall of bacon here scour like me do you see any other bacon that's organic spoiler alert the answer is no so the cool thing about this organic Sunday bacon what makes it Sunday I guess is the fact that it's very wide and very thick so it's for special occasions but heck I would crush that every day something happens every week exactly the thing is it's a non GMO feed anytime something is USDA Organic that means by law they cannot use GMO grains if something is non-gmo that doesn't mean it's organic it still have preservatives and pesticides and herbicides on there but I know that pigs are not eating a GMO feed which is very very important so this is one of the best I would get at the grocery store this is one of the second best because it's certified humane and see what this says here no sugar so if I turn it around here the ingredients are literally pork water salt and celery powder they're using celery powder instead of sodium nitrites which is really cool because if I compare it to Oscar Meyer center cut bacon here look at their ingredients we have sugar we have sodium phosphates the stuff you want to avoid we have sodium ascorbate and we have sodium nitrites all right before we talk about turkey bacon and a couple more brands let's go over here for a second cuz I just find it so weird that at the grocery store now we can get tons of organic tons of grass-fed beef and chicken but it's so hard to find the bacon I mean go to any grocery store look grass-fed beef is prevalent here make sure when you're looking at beef it's got to say a hundred percent grass-fed or grass-fed and grass finish so look I can get ground beef that's grass-fed I can get steaks at our grass-fed I can come over here take a look at this even Perdue has organic chicken right now you can't find pasture raised chicken at the grocery store but I mean that's what's so hard you can't find organic pork chops look it's impossible to find any organic pork shops here it just does not exist so while things have come a really far with beef and chicken where's the love for the pig where's the love for the pork man that's so hard to find organic pasture is is completely unexist n't at the grocery store and the only organic bacon was that one from Applegate so let's check out some more but check out that thrive link down below because the pasture raised is not just for bacon there it's for pork chops ground pork breakfast sausage and a lot more all right let's return back to bacon land here and you might see something like this Oscar Mayer has a natural series and this series actually has a pretty decent lunch meat and while the ingredients are much better than the regular Oscar Mayer they got rid of the phosphates the nitrates the nitrites the problem is it's not certified humane and you know the feed is GMO that's not something you want to put in your body those GMOs they'll eat you to the protein they leach into the animal milk for the cows I don't want that but what do you do about turkey bacon right so I have Applegate here Apple get really is best in class for a lot of things in the grocery store and I have Jenny oh so look at Applegate here it's humanely raised turkeys which turkey farming can be a really dirty business it's just turkey salt celery powder and spices no sugar so it's paleo we look at this one here for the jinnee oh and I need my glasses here look at that a ton more ingredients we have mechanically separated turkey that means it's the total lips and buttholes in parts you don't want to eat they scrape off with machine natural smoked flavors phosphates you're a bait so that's that's the kind of stuff you don't want to put in your body I would totally crush the applegate all day for that and keep in mind if you don't know what Canadian bacon is Canadian bacon is actually the pork tenderloin but I'm pretty sure if we look at this here see it's pork loin which is a lean cut but this one once again look at this natural flavors tons of night trades and other ascorbate so you don't want that so this is gonna do what every grocery store is like which is why you want to get past your race pork speaking out let's go back to the kitchen now cook off that thrive market pasture-raised up Park because you're gonna love it if you're at the grocery store that's what you have to do you have to weed out all of the filler and look for the little spots of thriller all right family after talking about baking so long at the grocery store let's cook some up so the way I cook perfect bacon is not on the stovetop it's in the oven so I have the oven going at 400 degrees and I have a sheet tray lined with parchment paper I don't cook with tinfoil I just don't trust file I believe that some of the foil some in the metal goes into food so even though my sheet tray here is made of solid aluminum that's safe I just don't trust the tinfoil yes it will be a little more of a cleanup with the parchment paper but I don't care so line your sheet tray and then grab your beautiful pasture-raised pork bacon from thrive and put it down and you can see it just has a beautiful color to it it's on the thicker side and it's gonna cook up and taste like nothing you've seen before I'll put it in the middle rack here and here's a deal if you're worried about it splattering in the oven just grab a splatter guard like this and put it over the sheet tray like that for me I don't really care so I just leave it off and I'll set a timer for 15 minutes so the reason why I'm cooking this in the oven as opposed to a cast-iron pan like granny is because when you do it on the stove two things happen number one the bacon tends to curl up and cook unevenly and it just splatters everywhere when I do it in the oven on the sheet tray it stays nice and flat and the mess is away less so in 15 minutes and that should be done and we could finally eat how do you guys think that looks for me that's perfect it's a little crispy but still has some of that nice fat left to it so I think it's done all that yummy fat has rendered out of there art was asking if I flipped the bacon I find no need because it really cooks evenly but that's perfect you guys nice color it's still some flexibility left and there's so much yummy pork fat that rendered there do not even think about throwing that away that is pasture-raised healthy yes I said healthy saturated fat you can fry your eggs in art was not gonna let this opportunity go by with some bacon here so art partake mmm and that lovely pasture-raised bacon save a piece for dusty of course burning my fingers bacon you guys know what bacon tastes like but that's like awesome bacon it's all you need to say bacon nothing else no I said why don't we take some of that top-shelf bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup which is still paleo technically kick it up a notch that's right a few notches actually alright and put it on there get a dolly mess for the Cascades right oh yeah my hands too proud take the residual mm-hmm but it's all about buying the best quality bacon and now you know what to look for what to avoid but check out thrive market don't think it's down below that's where you could only get some of the best pasture raised pork around and this is absolutely dynamite with that promo code for the $20 on the year-long membership you're set so that is it you guys like subscribe share art and our rack and videos out three to four times a week we got two more of those videos going below us right now but art and I will see you very soon until then we say until like we always do hashtag keep on cooking mad love and peace
