Bach: Preludio Suite para Cello No. 1 BWV 1007 | Paola Hermosín

Good afternoon! Today I want to perform for you a Prelude by J. S. Bach He composed it for his Cello Suite No. 1 also known with the catalogue number BWV 1007 A Suite is a collection of dances which is made since the XVI century At the beginning, there were Pavanas, Gallardas... and later, they were developing each one with its own influences from different nationalities For example, Allemande from Germany The Courante from France Sarabande from Spain and the Gigue from Ireland, England... among many other dances It was very usual to add a Prelude useful to stablish the tonality and prepare the audience to those sonorities they were going to hear during all the suite Emilio Pujol was one of the first who transcribed Bach for guitar cause he was in love with Baroque music and he knew lute techniques and other old instruments as Baroque guitar In my case, I transcribed it in D major too but I added different basses, my own way of making the hammer-on and pull-off that I considered more accurate with my way of interpreting the piece although it's another way to play it There isn't an only truth over all in Bach and during Baroque period because they didn't write dynamics I mean, they let them be guessed by the performers so they didn't write any crescendo forte or piano... no dynamic indications no one As it was written for cello we don't find those hammer-on and pull-off which we are used to add in the guitar to stablish the melody in a more fluent way to make it more natural if you want to learn how to play it you can find the sheetmusic and tabs on my web you'll find there my fingerings hammer-on and pull-off basses that I added myself cause as it was written for cello Bach only wrote a line a horizontal line and as we are playing it with a guitar, we can add more harmony enrich with it the basses, and putting it to another different tonality which changes everything it changes the fingering and that's why I offer my own edition At the moment, I will just play the Prelude but you can let me in comments if you want me to play the complete Suite and I can tell you more about the origins of each dance and listen to it hope you love it, you can subscribe like, comment or share the YouTube link with your friends if you liked it I also wanted to remind you that my book is now available in all libraries in Spain but you can also purchase it in valparaisoediciones.es cause they do the worldwide shipping it's a poetry book I'm so happy that I published it with Valparaíso Ediciones I hope you love it I'm so excited and amazed that you want to read it thank you so much! hugs from Seville!
