AR500 Body Armor - Level III (10% Discount below)

hey guys welcome back to beyond seclusion first time joining welcome what i want to talk about today is body armor let's test out some level 3 and level 3 plus body armor from ar 500 a company that i followed for quite a while okay before we get too far in i don't want any of you walking away really upset no i am not going to stand here and get shot at and test the body armor i've got a cpr dummy john now this is actually a remake of a video that i did a long time ago when i first got started a couple years ago a few companies were gracious enough to send me products to review one of those being ar 500 you know and i'm still scratching my head all the time going i don't understand why they sent me anything looking at the quality of my videos back then but they did and i really appreciate it and i shot up some good ammo so what i wanted to do is i want to go back and kind of take that uh that old video and revive it this is the level three body armor that they had sent me and i did a you know the the review itself was actually pretty good so let's take a look at that review okay so that original video i use my cpr dummy and as you can see here he got shot up pretty good and i had some john's out there that got kind of upset because i referred to him as john i come from the medical profession and anybody that you don't know is called john doe i suppose i could have called her jane but that probably would have got more negative comments so anyway all the john's i apologize okay so the first time i got the armor it was shortly after my baby girl's birthday and we had all these pink balloons around and i thought hey you know i'm gonna take john doe here i'm going to armor him up and i'm going to put the balloons to show fragmentations because with the different types of body armor we've got soft armor and heart armor this is this is plate armor the concern with plate armor is going to be fragmentation or spall and that's going to be copper jacket and stuff flying out so that's why i got the balloons all around here kevlar doesn't come in level three okay a kevlar soft body armor isn't going to defeat 556 or higher caliber military rounds so ar 500's got this coating called the paxon coating and i wanted to test that now some of you you don't like reading directions you get a grill and you just slap it together other are really type a like me you got to read all the directions in this case i did not and this is what happens when i shoot the level 3 armor with a round that it's not rated for okay we got john set up all ready to go i got my 556 basically standard nato round got my gopro down there hopefully i don't frag it that'll really suck let's uh let's see what happens and uh oh we went through john that's not good no not good at all nope we went all the way through john oh better go read those specs again that didn't work so good and i shoot it and i'm thinking what the heck okay so then i go back and i look at specs and text when it comes to body armor it's all about feet per second guys it's speed speed is what defeats armor speed is a very big portion behind penetration speed and weight but with armor is particularly speed and i was shooting a regular 223 going above 3000 feet per second the level 3 was rated i saw for 5.56 green tip which a lot of us know is you know armor piercing or it has the metal core and i just assumed that if i shot the other it would not penetrate it well that was wrong so i was going to use typical 556 ammo i needed to actually step it up to the level 3 plus body armor but going back to this i switch over to some green tip and i just hammer away on this thing and it works flawlessly now as you'll see in some of the videos i'm starting to get all kinds of fragmentation and spall we look at the dummy on the chin and stuff this isn't going to be good either guys but you know let's use some common sense if i'm wearing a ballistic jacket okay body armor i'm not standing here getting 30 shots in the same spot at the same angle so the first couple of shots for most all circumstances is all that really matters as we can see in those first few shots it did what it was supposed to the packs on contains the fragmentation now ar 500 has stepped it up they have some new coatings which i have not had an opportunity to test yet okay so we tested the 556 i pretty much shot a lot of the packs on coding off so we're going to get a lot of fragmentation but of course we got to test it with 762 nato you know the 308 762 by 51. and again i'm still and as a lot of you i'm thinking big gun it's going to defeat it but it's about speed and it did not defeat it it just dented it and actually made it more of a formed plate but it works now ar 500 is a company that's been around for a long time i've been following them for you know i don't know i think 10 years just out of interest because as a kid i just always thought body armor was cool you know chain mail plate mail all that well all that you know this is just simply the latest and the greatest of body armor so of course it always had my interest now as my kids would say i'm getting senile and i always forget if you go to my webpage and you go in through my link you can get a 10 discount so there you go there's ar 500 level 3 body armor it works it did what it was supposed to it satisfied my curiosity and it was just simply a whole lot of fun shooting up the next thing i want to check out is level 3 plus body armor and actually the review on that one's not quite as old and it's pretty decent so i'll just show you a quick snippet here and yeah and i thought that was a decent review so i'm not going to redo that whole one now one of them that i'm really anxious to get my hands on hopefully someday is the
