acting career and how changing her hair color helped her in her career yes Adams the actress we all know and love for her redhead rolls is actually a natural blonde changing her hair color helped her in her career but unfortunately it didn't help her get an Oscar in today's video we're going to delve into this excellent actress's life from her childhood growing up with six siblings to her recent Works let's start Adams was born in vienza Italy to American parents Katherine and Richard Adams while her father was serving at the US Army's cerma ederal military complex after moving from one army base to another she and her family settled in Castle Rock Colorado when she was eight describing herself as a scrappy tough kid she has said she fought frequently with other children I have watched many interviews of Amy Adams where she talks about her memories as a child it's amazing how her experiences growing up in a big family shaped her into the incredible actress she is today she was one of seven siblings she had four brothers and two sisters so making attention hard to come by especially for her as she was the middle child Adams has compared her uninhibited early years with her siblings to Lord of the Flies it was like Lord of the Flies we were all close in age and all very high energy growing up in a big family was always exciting in a chat with Jimmy Kimmel she shared a memory from when she was 12 selling licorice with her brother back then she didn't enjoy it much it was her first taste of earning money though which she now sees as a valuable lesson learned performing is clearly in Amy's blood her father sang professionally in nightclubs and restaurants after leaving the Army Adams has described going to her father's shows and drinking Shirley temples at the bar as among her fondest childhood memories he played the guitar and had a keyboard that he played with his feet he wore sparkly socks and I thought he was the coolest guy ever the family was poor they camped and hiked together and performed amateur skits written by her father or sometimes by her mother Adams was enthusi I Astic about the plays and always played the lead she was raised as a Mormon but she left the church after her parents got divorced when she was 11 years old while she didn't hold strong religious beliefs she has mentioned appreciating her upbringing for instilling values of love and compassion in her after the breakup her father relocated to Arizona remarried and the children stayed with their mother her mother was a jack of all trades working at a gym pursuing bodybuilding and delivering newspapers some early mornings as a teenager Adams would help her with pre-done deliveries as she told parade I would help her load up then we would drive through the streets and it just was sort of magical to be in a city at night it opened my eyes Adams went to dublas County High School she wasn't very into academics but she liked creative things like singing in the school chir she was also good at sports which her parents supported because they hoped she could get a scholarship for college there was not enough money to put all the kids through school she says they were a little disappointed when I stopped doing Athletics to dance she competed in track and gymnastics harbored Ambitions of becoming a ballarina and trained as an apprentice at the local David Taylor Dance Company after finishing school she and her mom moved to Atlanta she didn't go to college which disappointed her parents later on though she wished she had pursued further education at age 18 she realized she was not gifted enough to be a professional ballerina and found musical theater more to her taste I am never going to be that good no matter how hard I work I got into musical theater which was much better suited to my personality one of her first stage roles was in a community theater production of Annie which she did as a volunteer to make money she worked as a greeter at a Gap store she also served tables at Hooters but quit once she saved up enough money to purchase a used car addan started working as a dancer in a show called A Chorus Line at a dinner theater in Boulder Colorado back in 1994 in this job she had to serve tables before she could dance on stage while she liked singing and dancing she didn't enjoy serving tables things got complicated when another dancer who she thought was her friend made up lies about her to the director Adam said I never really knew what the lies were I only knew I kept getting called in and lectured about my lack of professionalism The Lies made her lose the job even so she continued performing in dinner theater at Denver's Heritage Square Music Hall and Country Dinner Playhouse in 1995 while performing in anything goes at the Country Dinner Playhouse Adams caught the attention of Michael brendisi the president and artistic director of the Shan Hassen dinner theater based in Minneapolis impressed by her Talent rendesi extended a job offer to her accepting the offer Adams were located to Shan Hassen Minesota where she became a part of the theater for the following 3 years she found great satisfaction in the stability ility and routine of her new job describing it as providing a sense of security and a predictable schedule looking back on her time there Adams has talked about how much she learned from the experience and how it helped her become a better performer for eight years in three different states Adams worked in dinner theater she says it was challenging due to the fierce competition between actors and the physically demanding nature of the shows I had a lot of recurring injuries btis in my knees pulled muscles in my groin my dor and abductor my body was wearing out but it was her formative years in dinner theater that guided her to Hollywood during an interview with the frames John Horn Adams revealed that her early experiences in dinner theater along with a significant conversation with Kristy Ellie set her on the path to Hollywood doing dinner theater helped me overcome my stage fright it helped me be able to breathe in order to give performances things that seemed like it would be easy but it was a big challenge for me when I first started according to Adams dinner theater was the best training ground which she loved so much it teaches you an amazing work ethic because when you're in theater everyone's kind of responsible for themselves you're responsible for your hair and makeup you're responsible for your props you are responsible in film it took me a long time to let people do that for me and then I realized by me doing it it made their jobs harder so that took a little while to get used to in Los Angeles Adams auditioned for whatever Parts came her way but she she was mostly given roles of the girl her first assignment came within a week of her relocation in the Fox television series Manchester prep a spin-off of the film Cruel Intentions in the lead role of Katherine Merle played by Sarah Michelle jeller in the film following numerous script revisions and two production shutdowns the series was cancelled Adams later said a controversial scene in which her character encourages a girl to masturbate on a horse was the primary reason for its cancellation Amy Adams took on a supporting role in Psycho beach party 2000 it was a funny horror movie that made fun of beach party and slasher films she played the teenage rival of a movie star acted by Kimberly Davies between 2000 and 2002 Adams popped up in various TV shows as a guest star you might have seen her in episodes of That 70s Show Charmed Buffy the Vampire Slayer Smallville and the westwing these roles helped her gain more experience and exposure in the entertainment industry Annie Adams landed her first major role in The Comedy drama Catch Me If You Can directed by Steven Spielberg in the film she portrayed Brenda a nurse who becomes the love interest of Frank abag Nell Jr played by Leonardo DiCaprio although the movie was a hit and Adams received praise for her warm presence from variety critic Todd McCarthy but it didn't lead to a significant breakthrough in her career even worse she was unemployed for a year after its release leading her to almost quit film acting Adams instead enrolled in acting classes realizing that she had a lot to learn and a lot of self-growth to work through there were times when I didn't work there were times when I was flat broke just like anyone else you go through ups and downs in life and right now I'm on and up I'm going to enjoy it and have fun and make the most of it her career prospects seemly improved a year later when she received a lucrative offer to Star as a regular in the CBS television drama Dr Vegas but she was dropped after a few episodes in film she only had a minor role in the Fred Savage starring the last run 204 Adams the actress we all know and love for her quirky redhead roles is actually a natural blonde this surprising fact becomes evident when you watch her early movies where she consistently flaunted her original blonde hair it's intriguing to witness how actors sometimes alter their appearance for roles this this Revelation adds depth to our admiration for her versatility as an actress it was in 2004 that she went dark red for the ill- fated Ro low TV show Dr vas Adams recalls a time when she was cast as a nurse alongside the beautiful blonde actress Sarah Lancaster who played the role of a casino dealer she remembers being in a room with Lancaster and being told that one of them needed to change their hair color Lancaster had a tan complexion stunning green eyes and a Mane of blonde hair while Adams described herself as having pale skin with freckles she humorously thought about who would have to dye their hair red between the two of them despite initial resistance from her Representatives Adams decided to dye her hair red and she believes it made a significant difference in how people perceived her for various roles shortly after the change she landed her breakthrough role in Junebug reflecting on the experience Adams acknowledges that changing her hair color might not be the sole reason for her success but believes it might have helped people see her Beyond just being a blonde the actress spoke at the New York Times hosted time stock event where she revealed that changing her hair color from strawberry blonde to red dramatically influenced her chances of getting cast in films based on roles that I was getting called in for people were responding to certain types of characters with me as a blonde and the minute I went red it was quirky and fun instead of flirtatious and dumb Adams has found that being a redhead comes with its own set of challenges one of which is the tendency for people to mistake her for other celebrities with similar features she humorously remarked on this phenomenon noting that redheads who share certain physical characteristics such as being under 5' 5 in tall and not particularly tan can often appear identical to others this has led to her being frequently misidentified as EA Fisher and other famous redheads during her interview with Conan she expressed her Delight in being a redhe head and how being blonde didn't quite suit her she shared how the vibrant red hair color complimented her personality and made her feel more confident after she debuted her fiery red hair on Dr Vegas she never looked back not even once did she revert to her original hair color since then all her roles have featured her vibrant redlocks it's become her signature style adding a touch of boldness and uniqueness to her onscreen presence it was great I liked that but in all seriousness it's just hair color it was really fascinating to see just one element of yourself change people's perception and that became a very powerful tool for me even in my acting following a few challenges during the early stages of her career the actress landed a rle and Catch Me If You Can alongside Leonardo DiCaprio everyone who saw it at that time knew that Adams was destined to be a star despite this big opportunity she felt disappointed because her career didn't go as planned leaving her discouraged but her view changed when she was cast in her breakthrough role in junbo June bug is a comedy drama film released in 2005 and directed by Phil Morrison the film follows the story of a young newo couple meline and George who visit George's family in rural North Carolina meline played by ammy Adams is an art dealer from Chicago and her visit to George's family home brings about a clash of cultures and personalities Amy Adams is such a good actress her performance was electrifying adorable and compelling all at the the same time for some reason I kept thinking Amy was the lead actress in this movie and that she was nominated for best actress not supporting actress I remember watching this movie because of her Oscar nomination people were raving about the Revelation that is Amy Adams when I watched I understood her pure talent has propelled her to where she is now it's deep I've not seen it in many actors it's a gift to watch Adam's role in the film helped to further establish her as a talented and versatile actress in Hollywood for her performance Adams won the independent Spirit award and Critics Choice Award for best supporting actress and received an Academy Award nomination in the same category for me as an actress my personal breakthrough was June bug it was the year when I learned that I wasn't willing to be unhappy to be an actress I was turning 30 that year and I was thinking what do I want this is my life later in 2005 Adams had supporting Parts in two critically panned films the romantic comedy The Wedding Date starring Deborah Messing and Derma morrone and The Ensemble Coming of Age film standing still these are such underrated movies especially the wedding date it's one of the best romcoms I've watched even though these movies weren't big hits but they gave Adams a chance to show how versel she is as an actress even in smaller roles Adams managed to leave a memorable impression demonstrating her ability to elevate the material she was given these experiences helped her continue to haunt her craft and paved the way for more significant roles in her career also that year she joined the cast of the television series the office for a recurring role over three episodes the office is a popular TV show that's all about the funny and sometimes chaotic happenings at a paper company called Dunder Mifflin it's filled with quirky characters and hilarious situations that happen in an office setting Amy Adams made a guest appearance in season one of the office as Katie a first saleswoman who catches the eye of Jim Halpert one of the main characters even though her appearance was short-lived it left a lasting impression on fans of the series but if there's one performance that really shows why Emy Adams is such a great actor it's the lead role in a movie that's guaranteed to put a song in your heart and a skip in your step every time you watch it I'm talking of course about princess jaizelle in the Disney movie Enchanted it's the movie that provided Adams with her big break as a mainstream Leading Lady she was among 250 actresses who auditioned for the high-profile role the studio had favored the casting of a bigger star but the director Kevin Lima insisted on Adams due to her commitment to the part and her ability to be non-judgmental about gizelle's personality Enchanted was a commercial success grossing over $340 million worldwide because of her role in Enchanted Amy Adams was nominated for several Awards like the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy people loved how she brought the character of jaizelle to life with her joyful and captivating portrayal earning her recognition in the world of entertainment in 2008 a movie called Sunshine Cleaning was shown at the sundance's film festival a comedy drama about two sisters played by Adams and Emily Blunt whose stared crime scene cleanup business Adams was particularly captivated by the character she played who is always striving to improve herself critics were quick to praise Adams performance with mik lell of the San Francisco Chronicle describing her as magical he noted that Adam skillfully portrayed her character's inner desires hidden beneath a calic exterior Adam's next start in doubt an adaptation of John Patrick shanley's play of the same name the film tells the story of a Catholic School principal played by Merill stre who accuses a priest played by Philip Seymour Hoffman of pedophilia she played an innocent nun embroiled in the conflict Shanley initially approached Natalie Portman for the part but offered Adams the role after finding her innocent yet intelligent personality in order to grid herself and prepare for the film Adams went back to the original script from the play doubt and matched it line by line against the script to see what was in and what was out Amy's co-star in the film Merill Street comments on her work everyone has a different approach but she was very very well prepared I have to tell you it's not common with younger actors Adam's performance in the movie D received praise from critics for her portrayals compassionate distress and embodiment of wide-eyed innocence her role earned her nominations for prestigious Awards such as the Academy Award Golden Globe award and B Award for best supporting actress in 2010 Amy Adams continued to Captivate audiences with her remarkable performances across a diverse range of film genes starting with the fighter a movie directed by David O Russell which tells the true story of boxer Mickey Ward and his journey to Redemption with Adams portraying Charlene Fleming Mickey's tough and fiercely loyal girlfriend throughout the film Adams shares powerful scenes with her co-stars particularly Mark Wahlberg their chemistry is electric making their scenes feel intense and real in a film filled with heavy weights Christian Bale Melissa Leo and Erica mcdermitt's hair Emmy not only holds her own but delivers some of the movie's most memorable moments particularly in this one of my favorite scenes Adams literally went full on lionist mode here her performance in the fighter earned her widespread Acclaim and numerous Award nominations including an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress critics praised her for bringing depth and complexity to the role of Charlene with some even hailing it as one of the standout performances of her career in 2012 Adams showcased her range by starring in the master a complex drama directed by Paul Thomas Anderson Amy Adams plays Peggy Dodd wife of Lancaster Dodd the magnetic and somewhat mysterious leader of a philosophical movement Peggy knows her place but she also has a take charge side of her and that turns out to be a powerful combination even though we often think of Amy Adams as a kind and gentle actress she surprised Us by playing tough roles like the one in this movie it's an example of just how far her range as an actress goes I can be really Steely maybe not to such effect but I'm definitely not always warm and cuddly in Sunshine and Lollipops so it's nice to sometimes get to bring that to a role continuing her streak of acclaimed performances Adam starred in the biographical drama big eyes 2014 in 2016 Amy Adams nailed it again with her role in the sci-fi movie arrival directed by Dennis venu in arrival Adams plays Dr Louise Banks a Linguistics Professor recruited by the military to communicate with aliens that have landed on Earth Louise has a sad past the movie starts by showing her having a baby who dies young throughout the film Amy Adams shows Louise's emotions in a quiet but powerful way which is key to the movie success even when the movie feels too cold Adam's performance keeps it relatable Dennis said to me yes there will be aliens and all this world stuff but ultimately it's about a mom Amy Adams and her husband Darren leg Gallo felt a strong attraction when they first met even though they were both involved with other people at the time fate had its way and their story is a testament to the idea that true and enduring loved demands sacrifices and compromises from both Partners when I look at my 20s or when I look at any period in my life I think about how much time I've wasted trying to find the right man but the truth is once you have a great man in your life it allows you or at least for me to look at yourself and grow as an individual as their relationship was beginning to Blossom Adam's career began to rapidly Advance she started to make appearance in one outstanding film after another over the course of the following 10 years despite all of that effort Adams and Le Gallow managed to find the time to fall madly in love get engaged and have their only child a daughter named Aviana oia Le Gallo who was born in may20 soon after giving birth to Aviana 2010 Adam spoke with parade for an interview about her relationship with L Gallow and their life as new parents Adams also spoke about how being pregnant with avien helped her gain a new appreciation for her body as she gained weight being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body meaning that it wasn't put on this Earth to look good in a swimsuit I was like look I can carry a baby I'm baning weight right everything's going well and I've had that relationship ever since Amy Adams is deeply committed to empowering her daughter am's commitment to this is evident in how she balances her career and motherhood for instance when fil disenchanted Amy included Aviana in the process helping her understand the intricacies of film making and giving her a Hands-On learning experience I want Aviana to know that it is not just women that can soar she can soar and she needs to find her own light I know she is on that path that is something that I need to remind her in an interview with Seth Meers Amy Adams shared her funny and a bit embarrassing experience with Tik Tok which she tried out because of her daughter even though she isn't on Tik Tok herself Amy tried to learn a dance from the popular fancy-like Applebee's commercial she said her daughter thinks her efforts are cringe but she is thankful for her daughter's patience as she learns about social media Adams known for her acting also loves dancing and wanted to share that passion with her daughter Avana she enrolled Aviana in ballot lessons with the agreement that Aviana could quit if she didn't enjoy it by age 10 true to her word eviana chose to stop bade as soon as she turned 10 despite not continuing with ballite Avana found her talent in other artistic areas Amy proudly shared on the Kelly Clarkson show in 2021 that Aviana is wonderfully musical excelling in playing both the bass guitar and drums so Adam's efforts to influence her daughter were not successful instead her daughter takes after her father both in appearance and interests showing a strong passion for the Arts just like her father when she turned 11 years old Le Gallow posted a birthday tribute on Instagram and revealed that she had a special request he wrote alongside a series of photos including eviana sitting on a bench in front of an Art Exhibit one of her birthday wishes was to go to the art gallery that reopened today in [Music] Ireland Amy Adams is considered by many to be the most gifted living actress who has yet to win an Oscar it's not for lack of worthy performances she has been nominated six times in her nearly three decade career I think Adams should have won at least two Oscars by now best supporting actress for her subtle work in doubt and best lead actress for her Exquisite performance in her rival and before you say what you're about to say yeah I know that she was snubbed altogether for her role in 2016's arrival I just chose to live in an alternate universe in which Amy Adams was nominated and one for her most glorious performance in a Ral I find sometimes if an actress is in a movie that is too gen they don't get nominated no matter how good they are like Tony Colette in hereditary corer or Charli theren in madmax action so that is my theory why Adams missed out on a nomination for arrival science fiction for her portrayal of Ashley jonston in the 2005 film junbug Adams earned her first Oscar nomination although she didn't play the main character Junebug director Phil Morrison asserted that the film might not have been made without her I promise this is true if we had not found the right person to play Ashley I would have said okay well let's just not make the movie It's not that we were going to pull the plug we weren't even going to put the plug in until we found Amy in June buug Amy Adams character Ashley jonston experiences profound grief after her baby dies this loss deeply affects her leading to emotional termoil and strained relationships within her family for me that was the best supporting performance in a film that I've ever seen you just totally fall in love with her and then this happens to her and it feels personal this film marked a significant turning point in her career Adams felt deeply grateful for the recognition her role in June bug received especially the Oscar nominations but at the time Adams didn't even favor herself to win an award I voted for ratchel way Adams said Amy Adams earned an Oscar nomination for her role as sister James in the 2008 film doubt she played a young nun caught between a strict principal sister Alois played by Merill stre and a priest father Flynn played by Philip Seymour Hoffman who is suspected of wrongdoing one of the best lines in this movie that still hits me is when sister aloisius said to Sister James when you take a step to address wrongdoing you are taking a step away from God but in his service for me amnie Adams was such an amazing actress in this movie they picked the perfect girl to act Meek innocent mousy like she didn't an enchanted critics praised Adams for her ability to show the character's innocence and moral struggle which added emotional depth to the story Amy Adams was nominated for an Oscar for her role as charling Fleming in the fighter 2010 she played a tough bartender Who falls in love with Mark Wahlberg's character Mickey Ward director David O Russell chose Adams to show her range beyond the sweet characters she often played Ward meets Charlene in a lively bar where she works as a bartender she liked the fact that he stood up for her when she was being disrespected he also lipped her in her eyes to let her know that he's a real man and that he would continue to do that that's how she first warmed up to him this scene was epic the way he asked her out wasn't too pushy and it really seemed realistic in Paul Thomas Anderson's Masterpiece the master Adams plays the wife of the founder of the Scientology like cult known as the cause Lancaster do it was one of the earliest subversions of her already strong Persona as a bubbly diletant this film didn't get half of the respect and attention it deserved if you watch this masterpiece you definitely remember this 26 seconds of her powerful performance to this day I can't stop watching this scene fantastic acting from Amy Adams one of the standout aspects of American Hustle was Amy Adam's exceptional performance as Sydney prer a complex and multifaceted character her portrayal of a woman who transforms from a smalltime grifter into a sophisticated seductor was nothing short of mesmerizing American Hustle shows that Hollywood still can make classic movies like they used to in the other decades all the actors are fantastic but there's just something special about Emmy Adams she can be so sweet innocent and adorable like and Enchanted and also crazy alluring smart and sexy like in hair Amy Adams performance earned her widespread Acclaim and numerous Award nominations many think that the problem ammy always seems to have is she is nominated at for the wrong roles or snubbed like in nocturnal animals and arrival and where she is nominated she is never going to win because of timing taked out nominated against her co-star Viola Davis the vote there would likely be split canceling each other out the fighter The Narrative and publicity behind Melissa Leo too difficult to overcome at the end of the day Emy Adams is one of those actresses we all know is going to win a Best Actress Oscar one day it's all about the right movie at the right time [Music] currently Amy Adams is set to star in and produce the film night a dark comedy about a stay-at-home mom who believes she's turning into a dog this film directed by Marielle heler is scheduled for release in December 20124 night test screened in March 2023 one of the reaction was I'm still not sure why someone decided to make this movie I love Edie Adams and she's great as always here but it's super strange just for the sake of being strange some odd storytelling and unnecessary subplots she literally feels and turns into a dog and it's supposed to tell us something about motherhood it's also a very ugly movie to look at regardless of the outcome of this film for me Adams is one of those actors that literally just acts in movies and does a great job and doesn't get involved in scandals or annoys us with overbearing Charisma she is so down to earth someone you could easily have a chat with to me it's always her voice that draws attention first I don't need to look at the screen to know Amy Adams is in a film or interview immediately it's like listening to something made up of completely different material it's like the only jewel in a box of stones thanks for watching if you liked the video leave a like And subscribe to the channel so you don't miss the next videos see you in the next one [Music]
