welcome welcome welcome Jedi a - here giving you this special special episode of Apollo 45 the checkride now let me tell you watching hours and hours on end of YouTube videos and private pilot assistance videos and private pilot books and in practice tests just doing those over and over and over again really really helped me out so I'm going to be narrating on and off through this it's gonna be a lot of fast forwarding because this was about an hour and a half so without further ado let's jump right into it alright so I think that far FC with one for couples like one is zero clear below one mm temperature to eight Celsius 2.10 altimeter three zero zero seven remarks density altitude three thousand there's seven zero we've got a nice little cross one there well that's rent one way to take off from is winds are favoring three six born with mountain Porter what kind of works out for us for our flight plan to since we're going to the Northeast okay yes we traveling sister nine cents for guilt for overturning right these for only three sick right clothes traffic okay it so keep in mind that this is my first check ride and I want it to be my last check ride so am i nervous of course I am do I make mistakes of course I do but all in all I think I did pretty good please put in the comments below how you think I did overturning that tango is uh accent other up to three six okay just gonna do the run-up make sure all my sucks engage and everything works Oh brick set I'll set cabin doors latching close let's go ahead these let's see if I controls don't let this my elevator elevator is good left-right good traps up takeoff takeoff now we're gonna check our Magneto's Oh what - 17 okay make sure my add presenter drinker have them in the middle suctions to the green oil temp oil pressures in the green go and check my Magneto's I'm gonna check the right first what's that chopped there's the drop likes blue left there is a drop back to poo and okay there's that drop and I don't dare the engine doesn't die on us on the landing all right back up to a thousand eighty radios are sent three tails centering a takeoff checklist flaps up car Pete Azam transponder set to altitude it's one of those automatic once so soon as we get an air is gonna Swiss the ground to altitude those new fancy ones and shrimp is already set for takeoff all right know about traffic just drive except myself a tiny little tango was taken three six four zero five Parker there's a bear here [Applause] and make sure we're off the breaks this kind of threw me off because my feet weren't on the brakes I mean I didn't think they were again I was probably nervous and left feet probably were on the brakes but given his experience I mean he's been doing this for 30 plus years so okay I just put the five and there's another time where I take off and he says my feet were on the brakes again and I was like what they are not on the brakes but like I said that's probably nervous tonight probably one of the brakes myself as anyone tango came across when we product to the parties well you check point was El Dorado okay [Music] this was a really favorable day for a check ride the winds were coming from the Northeast at like five knots really smooth very little trip down so it was really really easy to maintain altitude after you level off if you mean what your calculated ground speed was gonna be based on 94 okay it's true air speed I'd be great the more and more is flying with the sky the less and less nervous I became I also had a figure that you know these guys don't want you to fail they actually want you to pass so help me a little bit listen to the weather over zero-niner-zero a little I first point looking one zero clear below 1 2010 furniture - 7 selfie of 2.1 - altimeter free 0:07 remark density altitude 3000 well we're kind of like down to 78 knots because I guess $2,200 that about 435 it's kind of that's why I hate way it's way over there because the angle like to me it looked like 23 and my flights looked always tells me to is they carrying out there like ok except myself I sent here from tangos about 4 miles to the southwest at 3,500 lb transitioning Mathilde according to the Northeast [Music] elder I know this is Cherokee one time where it 3,500 just south of the deal completely not paying attention to what one niner foxtrot was trying to tell me but so focused on my flying but of course my checkride guy cottage on a crossfade of 82 83 knots okay this guy called it and he said he is just a little south can we do something to avoid his his track sorry I can't uh transition to the North that might be a good idea okay and what would be our heading now to Emporia thank you / yeah I don't know if he was doing this on purpose I don't know if this is part of the test but this is really frustrating to me because I'm sitting there trying to fly maintain altitude maintain my speed and everything and I have to flip through these papers and everything it was just crazy okay it might matter course of 0-3 you want the best not multitasking the Jedi tasking right there such respond to the field here [Music] actually we'll go around this up present can't fly over it if they don't want to drop it dandy down there don't there's three one well probably over to the N naught the little bit solo awesome yeah cuz I've got any that peg course of yeah let's see what comes up with direct tube would be rec to the poor yeah about 0 for 1 okay what drama alright how to how use the vor to get us to a Korea how would I yep well I would uh on the vor radial is uh once you to money that type in a point I'm so glad this check right guy allowed me to use for flight for flight works wonders 12.8 that's what I show 12.8 like that in and it's a five miserable 0 or a 0 now if you look out for the 20.2 and rail that's as front yeah that's only I'm probably picking up a pepper lonely what we put in Wichita's be a watch just to check it real quick 13850 vacation Eddie what would it take to take for us to go to Wichita right now so which don't be a warp you're gonna set that up which radio I would want so let's just say if we wanted to go direct to the Wichita vor from our present position well I would turn well actually I would turn this and so this centers really finicky so up here I don't have to turn to the heading two-five-zero for me okay I want to give me a left turn to heading two three zero zero you're clear on that standard rate on the church for those of you who are wondering where I just put on the cob boggles and what they do is they block the view for the outside of the aircraft so the only thing I can see is my instruments but this pretty much does is it tests your ability to use and trust your instruments so if you fly through a cloud or something you can't see your instruments and let's descend on this setting down to 3,000 feet at 500 feet per minute flying at night or any type of low visibility situations you really do have to trust your instrument so this is one of the way to test that you are capable of trusting your instruments when you fly let's make a climbing right on me right turn to a heading to one to zero and we'll climb at 500 feet from it well make it airspeed let's climb out at 80 knots okay I have traffic but 5 3 3 here Julia right bait for Murray stick forgot that I will have to use full power to get it soft boys believe it or not this was my most challenging part of the check ride maintaining an airspeed instead of a rate per minute climb or descent I don't know why but yeah maintaining 80 during this climb was pretty tough for me we're gonna look at some unusual attitude recoveries look down at your lap turn left for me I just keeping the left turns a little more Bank little more Bank I've just hold it there you go ahead and recovers on the instruments using the instruments to nose-down attitude so what do you need to do with power powers you to come back on it correct go back to 8000 straight level flashes all okay look down at your lap pull back on the control yoke back back back back give me a right turn then go ahead and recover [Applause] those hide then what we need to do with power add power nose down level okay you could turn you get rid of the boggles yeah you could turn goes south Eddie 3,500 feet okay and on the South heading you can plan on a couple steep turns both left and right okay 45 degrees of Bank 4.9 sorry sheryll left downwind runway four Alvarado whenever you're ready okay make sure our place is level okay customizing my éclairs you're good we did all sorts of turn to red guys look at okay next up stable here okay guitar start to the left believe let me make sure I'm on fire right here okay steep turns is one of my specialties I was like huh I got this yeah just a little more bag 45 degrees there you go mmm maybe those are the nerve setting in Eldred or traffic 449 charlie Sarah left base runway for Alvarado I got the trap three Juliet for right space for three 6:45 at this point I want her to say I am a 35 40 but I wasn't I was like a 42 43 but of course I would never say anything like that to a check ride guy he has a student pilot he is like God and I do not want him to get him angry and have him striking down with lightning and he'd probably come back with something like Jack rides over you bear fine all right on this heading it now the two let's slow the airplane down to slow quite tell me what speed you're [Applause] five let's turn up to the north Eddie with 20 degrees of a make sure we look before return so which which heading are we going through North Eddie I'm gonna turn to it North penny okay a little bit light on the rudder usage so make sure we add rudder Naylor on together there we go a little more coordinated there alright you can work the power back to idle and show me a stall in recovery and scientists all okay they're in a stall you want to demonstrate to recover losing the less possible altitude I can imagine if you experienced a stall while pulling up too steep during takeoff you don't really have that much altitude to to drop so sort of recover you just want to put the nose down at the horizon not dive and let's do a power on stall and a climbing the traffic 5 3 3 here's your little right crops win for 3 6 . again it's clear now I had a little bit of trouble with this because normally when I practice my power on stalls my wings were level this time I was doing a power on stall out of bank which actually caused me to go into a spin a short spin it scared me to death then shortly after my checkride guy asked me what did we just experienced and of course instead of just answering we just had experience to spin I know I took me forever to answer him for some reason maybe there's the nerve sitting in or what I don't know don't get the brake on it we have to do it to a full brake okay three threes here Juliet so right down with 4 3 6 . Augusta bring run all back hell thread or topic for iCarly hello we just did get a Breaking Away for alvarado what speed do we use to take off that what's our if it's 550 maybe between 50 and 55 oh dang alright let's slow it down to 50 dodge before we add the power so we don't have a whole lot of altitude gate then we increase the back pressure just to increase the fire pressure it worry about till we get to 50 crease the back pressure just keep it on back okay now let's add the power and start the turn and see you didn't use any rudder again and too much Bank bring the power in breathing those up bring the power in and those up and not too much redder right on back till we get the brake right on back throw back help the back pressure and here's once you spin right now that right there skating with oh my gosh I got traffic 5 3 3 good you at the right base 4 3 6 . Augusta why did it break off absolute lost operator traffic Hwang's fatal points well the floss lifted both wings into the Cubs but it rolled this way huh mostly on the right wing but alright when would that be a dick ative Oh possibly instead of just giving them the simple answer spin no it's going to be awful this one airplane stalls it rolled right being fooled just a speedo this one's getting more lift than that one what's that indicative of what's what's trying to do trying to get more lift in the wings wonder what maneuver what is the airplane going into it that bone spent alright how would you recover from that I would go idle idle prattle and I would go full opposite rudder and as soon as I get it feel it stabilized I would basically push the yoke forward and on full throttle then I pull out of it alright maybe we just hold for it climb anymore yeah but uh all right gotta for these a pitch to do that okay earlier in the flight I was actually using my throttle to uh do my pitcher if I was gonna descend I would take out the throttle I guess you wanted to use my elevators more hey I smell smoke okay first thing I do is I would fly it all back and check my ultimate lamp my amps most of the checklist and it's getting a little smokier in here okay then I will try to just dive and try to get the get the air to go stop the fire actually and I'm looking at for a landing spot landing zone I turn to 1.1 0.5 or yeah 101.5 Mayday Mayday Mayday cessna stop fussing he pooped echoes barony staring at your fire currently just just southeast of the a little leak and we're going to be putting it down to the fuels all right we can recover at 3,000 feet okay and then at that point you can take us to the Eldorado Airport okay Eldorado Captain Jack Thomas Airport automated weather observation zero zero one six Zulu weather wind zero eight zero at for visibility one zero clear below zero okay rocky should be a no factor thank you no traffic cessna sm57 from tangos well mostly what collections the east and we have bound for the like that what before really is your algorithm my eldorado traffic pattern is a standard so i actually should have said left downwind 4:04 what i do for myself a preach an employee landing checklist fuel selector is on mixture switch up heat I'll turn it out one where being with a runway here [Music] and it's seatbelts fastened now success myself let's have a vote tango is generally a family for really is ill for there's a pain alright if we lost the engine okay what are you gonna do again 1 to 1.5 I play oh just yeah what a flight you know first so Bristo best glide speed so I kind of touched the edge of controls go ahead pull the car peel I'm sure you do that note ethics that's no self I sent here for tangles to make sure coach for is oh four two zero four five three six ago got that agent for best glide here yeah I know for sure take this can we do is slip to live in the all the tea instead what's up can we use a slip to lose the allottee okay alright why don't you demonstrate one of those for me a slip forward slip alight now at this point I've never did afford to slip landing before I didn't know what he was talking about plant afford before it's slip like blood says right here a forward slip whatever you consider to be a slip I guess I would say this is an ax slip but following [Music] now they have here four slipped elating [Music] the traffic 2005 Accord slip yeah I'm not sure what that is on a slip is here slipping is a on inside and then skating is going for the outside if the balls on the outside of turn but that's dealing with turns as you bend right before it slipped the landing to lose altitude all right let's not do a short field take up from our present position and bring around for a short field landing okay short field takeoffs Oh laps down ten car paid in sort of field takeoff checklist so takeoff checklist complete you dude flaps ten taxi keep rolling Oh short field takeoff I'll breathe that is soft field oh yeah sorry so John makes deals so I would pretend that my tail is actually hanging off the back here break set the hold right to ten I'm going to bring this up to roll oh yes Todd is ring up to 2,000 it's kind of like a like a mini pre-check run up let make sure all my instruments are good to go at the green everything's at the green suctions good and then after this go ahead route the pool and bricks release and now one of the things I've noticed about myself during this check ride is I do not use my left runner when I'm turning left as my checkride guy Aubry around for notice there you're not using it there's a bank in the airplane left a [Applause] little except myself that nipple thing I think what cross went 400 400 made in this matter you just paint it again it's not you see rudder which I'm trying to keep the ball in the center plate should be ain't running rudder together okay you use your right rudder but yeah I always feel right rudder going in but I never hit a second mark littell there when I have to the number four so that's my main point now a short field linen is more of a precision approach you pick a spot on the runway and you land within 200 feet past it and you said your touchdowns point was gonna be where you know the second hash mark after the floor now as I was saying for the precision approach you have to pick a spot on the runway I guess I meant to say second stripe after the number four on the runway second hash mark I don't know what he was looking at I don't even know what a second hash mark was but I meant to say stripe and I actually did land right on the stripe it was just perfect and then when I landed on the stripe he said it was too short so I was really confused I think what he thought I was referring to was the thousand foot markers which are the board's are the big two fat white markings on the runway looks like a little short now the second hash mark I was laying further after the second hash mark soft field take off okay no feel take off hey if I was ten kind of somebody that I've never stopped keep rolling like share mine again oh we need to keep rolling cuz you got him all deal all right keep the weight off of those what's gonna really down the runway and make sure we don't ride the brake that's the second time he mentioned that I was on the brakes as I was mentioning earlier again I could have swore I was not on the brakes but again I could have been nervous and I could have been on the brakes so okay that's that grab a pick let's go put those down torque ride it a little bit and I get something right a climb pull up now a song field takeoffs probably one of my favorites because you have to keep the nose off the down the entire runway so you're pretty much wheeling down the runway like a motorcycle until takeoff we'll bring around for a soft build landing okay turn across went forward and up nano forever touch go for so for algorithm remember that the letter to the downloader except myself a second phone tango is general across what the correct I left out what what is l4 get back where was the second hash marks so therefore into the hash mark and at the second hash mark oh you're talking about the strike so broke it strike all right oh yeah that's why I meant this start second strike I'm sorry okay what is the objective of this off the Atlanta would we try to accomplish so you want to keep the most uh you want to keep the weight off of the on for the wheels because you can be laying in grass you don't they want to sink in there so you want most of the lift go on the wings electric we land it will move faster with actually 1500 RPM instead of idle so you can actually have a nice softer one approach my softer landing holographics s myself uh sent here from tangos to have left pay for so for how real that's a 2 0 4 3 6 Agosta that bra Votto on the right downwind for runway 3 6 just the traffic traffic cessna so pleasant even tango alpha z r4 algorithm so pretty much the softest landing possible and a Senate like so 1,500 [Music] slow hold back to keep the weight off the nose as long as possible we can go ahead and do it as a touch and go okay don't go so I guess the traffic to set for our hotel right base for m86 the traffic and we'll bring one more approach to landing okay well at least you made an attempt there good stuff well sure yeah that's called coordinated flight yeah [Music] there we go hope that success myself I said okay how about that one switch or how we go that's a reciprocal 4:04 oh nice sunset beautiful what time does the position likes have to be turned on an hour after Twilight civil twilight that's pretty dark you read it for me earlier when you were reading that like it said during the period of between no sunset sunrise yeah so are they odd yes I turned them on yep ask marian normal landing or on it now we got to see a forge slip landing so keep it high any time you want to turn your base leg do so okay and hold this altitude okay now what you're about to see is my first ever attempt for a forward slip landing except myself a second angle in front of my face boys go for Alberto just use partial flaps will use the slip primarily didn't lose the out okay and we'll use left wing down right rudder when you roll out right runner okay here you go keep the nose down power back to idle push the nose down right rudder left week down right rudder okay push the doors down cuz that's what we're trying to do is lose the allottee [Applause] hose down right rudder a little more left wing down there you go Wow ever done this before that's a Ford slipped away okay alright enough of that let's go around okay and you could plan departing the traffic pattern to the southwest on the downwind leg okay the climbing no higher than whatever decides you to do the ground overs okay here one thing though is not that we're gonna beat the partic to the southwest Alvarado so how high are we gonna go for our ground reference movers it's gonna be between 600 and 1,000 AGL let's use about oh let's go 800 right in the middle 800 okay 16 actually look 2,300 should do it 12 is told 23 okay so I'm going to enter this from downwind all the windows mainly coming from that way so we're actually going toward downwind right now so hold your altitude for okay 2,300 2,300 I just continue we don't want to do it we're out here what get a whuppin Airport okay let's check our plan of action everything covered navigate and we did slow flight we did stalls we used to get the tuned instrument flying we did conclude our unusual flight attitudes and roads the operations emergency descent we did Rochin landing with an operative engine we did steep then working on ground reference maneuvers and we did owner takeoffs landings took ground reference and a landing back at a gun okay good make the is these roads point no more than half a mile away from the center of the intersection there for me I'll pick this intersection right that's just fine right here oh sorry yes you got actually half mile so at this next intersection sits about quite half a mile away will we experience the steepest banking steepest Bank ankles gonna be one where kick the ball silent oh the dead weight like yes but then I want to find our point or just gonna be just coasting along [Music] okay for the intersection which one are you looking at listen right here all right okay to zero here's I'm just going to shallow it out a bit [Music] okay we'll roll out and head back towards Augusta okay guest Airport if it's that night what would be the easiest way to locate the airport by a by the rotating beacon one more one the white or green all right what color are runway edge lights we either a white or amber and if it's at the ant to be either yellow or or for the warning where I run like hor red El Dorado Captain Jack's for business or off China 501c4 one-seven-one [Applause] Augusta Municipal Airport automated weather observation zero zero four six Zulu weather wind zero seven zero at for visibility one zero clear below 1 mm temperature 2 3 Sofia dew point one one altimeter three zero zero six remark the altitude 2500 let's do this as a no flaw planting okay that's dress except myself outside here home tango five miles please let me end down for the 45 or write down one three six that's Lube landing I was pretty cool everyone ever done our before us pretty cold Oh delight that's how he landed back in the day when they did have week blocks to get over an obstacle without necessarily increased the speed I got the traffic 12 o'clock all right tangos entering right down at 4 3 6 that's the traffic to that hotel turning the final 4 busy over certain the WAP was laying this is another one over not that before yeah good luck then we have to do some sort of abnormal landing so that's about the easiest one to do okay [Music] technically phase four three six of them what we're looking at here is systems and equipment malfunction and we are doing a planning your flap malfunction so in this case it's a flop malfunction okay alright then in my base a little bit longer so uh I want to approach that it's such a steep angle that way I keep my wire speed within the vent 16 that's traffic so snow sunglass time here okay goes on final four three six right there and the only way that we're going to be able to control the speed is with the pitch attitude of the airplane now the power is going to control our descent rate yes now we're going to exit the runway okay you do have that other person that's on final volume yeah he's already down yep I got stress except myself I don't you know thing goes clear the IPO three 6s done nice right here we're going to stop here and do you buy after Lana checklist she's thinking hey after landing flaps up Oh didn't use flaps cover you down transponder and standby standby and oh [Applause] no how do we do oh yeah I think I did pretty good alright what would you approve on I would definitely like to practice those those slip landings my left turn is on the rudder I don't know what that's all about but yeah yeah well we feed in the aileron we also want to come with the rudder are okay you do it with the right one and I don't know what's up with the left one okay so that is the end of my checkride so I'm gonna go ahead and end the suspense right now just let you know whether if I passed or failed I passed so I am a certified private pilot as of now the it was very it the studying was was crazy I studied and studied and studied and I came to these tests over prepared I thought it was going to go way way worse than what I actually did and I guess it's just from all the studying and everything on all the YouTube videos as I was mentioning earlier but but I wanted to thank everybody for sticking with me from the previous YouTube videos I've been that I've been posting up on here all the way from my first solo all the way to my checkride I want to thank everybody for watching I put your comments below and fly safe Jedi eight two outs
