hey guys it's kat and i am doing another movie review you guys seem to really enjoy my 50 shades of grey review so i thought that i would try to do another so i got a lot of suggestions on my last video for other movies that i should review i got secretary i got of course the next following 50 shades of gray which i'm open to watching but i'm definitely going to um need a break from the series so i thought i would do this one first if i do go on and do those other ones um but one of the most top requested movies that i got was 365. so i made the mistake of googling this movie and the plot synopsis that it gives is massimo is a member of the sicilian mafia family and laura is a sales director she does not expect that on a trip to sicily trying to save her relationship massimo will kidnap her and give her 365 days to fall in love with him promising so first of all i love a mafia story i love an italian mafia story so i'm excited apparently it's a polish film though i don't know much about this movie um and i'm gonna start out like i did in my last video with an open mind i don't like to look too much at what people have to say about movies before watching them i do really like to go in with a fresh mind one of the things that i went into 50 shades of grey i guess expecting was that it was going to be a terrible representation of bdsm and if you watch that review you guys know that basically what i said was that is it the bdsm that i do no is it the bdsm that some people do yes so it's not an accurate it's just not healthy in my opinion it just wasn't bdsm that i would personally engage in right so in watching this movie i'm not expecting it to be totally void from problematic stuff but i am going to be watching it trying to think of what exactly the movie is selling and how you're supposed to feel about it as the audience right so that's all i'm going in to 365 with those are my parameters so i'm going to start watching this movie and then i will come grab my eyes out of my skull i want to just evacuate my body and completely leave this planet because let me just say that 365 while not being as bad as i thought it was is still pretty bad all right so this film starts out with a mafia boss and his son standing on top of a castle in the middle of a mediterranean island the mafia boss is having a conversation with some human traffickers and he's telling them that they don't do that type of business that they may sell drugs to children but they draw the line at human trafficking and i love a mafia boss with a moral compass the mafia boss tells his right hand mario to continue having the conversation with the human traffickers and he gets up to join his son whose name is massimo who's looking down at the beach at a beautiful woman dancing below him they have a brief conversation about how when he dies massimo is going to take over the mafia empire and as quickly as he says that a bullet shoots right through him and kills him in front of massimo the bullet also hits massimo and the two fall on the ground so one thing i have to say about this film is that there is some music throughout i know that we're not at the criticism point of this video but i feel like this is an important thing to mention about this film in general there is some really really terrible on-the-nose music throughout the entire movie um and apparently a lot of that music is done by the main actor who i believe his name is michelle moroney i want to say and it's just honestly the most jarring uncomfortable unnecessary music that for me in my opinion doesn't fit i don't know if he was in this movie because he's a big pop star in italy i don't really understand but it just doesn't fit and it's just it's really really caustic i feel like the soundtrack throughout this entire movie was just attacking me and i didn't appreciate i didn't appreciate it so now massimo's father is dead and he now is the mafia king so we fast forward five years into the future and massimo is having a conversation with some people in an office in san francisco now a lot of people have compared this movie to 50 shades of grey which i will get to later um but i will say that for me at least the distinct difference between 50 shades of grey and this film is that the actor who plays massimo is significantly more in my opinion in my opinion attractive dominant looking and i do buy him as a italian donnie mcdomerson more than i did christian grey um so there's that i think he's hot um let's just establish that right away so this scene is a little interesting and it took me a while to figure it out while massimo is having this contentious conversation there's also another scene simultaneously happening showing the beautiful woman on the beach having a really boss [ __ ] conversation with her fellow employees i guess she's clearly some sort of high level executive and she's a boss babe who is about her business and that's established right away that this character whose name is laura is this really sort of strong willed high up executive type person it's established that laura is polish and this scene cuts in between massimo scene that also shows him commanding a room massimo essentially blackmails the people in the room for not investing his money correctly so after the office scene happens there's a scene that's cut between them in the car laura is sitting in the car in poland and she's trying to send sexy photos to her partner martin and massimo is in the car getting sexy photos from his partner when laura gets back to her apartment her partner martin is sitting on the couch working and watching television and she tries to come in and make things sexy and seduce him and try to get him to come into the other room and blow her back out or whatever but martin's not really interested he kind of comes up with every single excuse you can he says uh give me an hour also by the way don't you have some packing to do or something um because they're going on a trip to italy the next day and yeah laura is obviously really disappointed by this and she goes into the other room and she lays on her bed at the same time massimo is loading onto his private jet on his way back to italy and he has a conversation with mario who is his father's right hand about how some drugs got lost in a shipment or whatever i don't know how the mafia works and while he's having this conversation he takes notice of the air hostess who is very very attractive so now we have this interesting scene where laura is in the bedroom pleasuring herself um and massimo convinces the air hostess to give him a [ __ ] i gotta say there's a lot of [ __ ] in this movie there are so many blow jobs in this movie blow jobs as plot points blow jobs as reward and listen look i give the i give award winning heads so i definitely respect that it's a thing that people do i guess but i don't think i've ever seen um a blow job that was filmed so graphically i honestly had to like stop for a moment and make sure that i was watching like you know a netflix movie and not some really well produced porn or something it was just like wow okay like at certain points i'm like i i feel like i can almost see some some dick shaft um which i'm a fan of but it just took me off guard it just took me off guards so anyway they both come at the same time and that's the end of that scene so both massimo and laura land in italy at the same exact time laura is apparently in italy to celebrate her birthday with her partner martin and a bunch of her friends and they're at this resort sort of just relaxing having a good time and unwinding it is her birthday right at the resort martin tries to be really adorable and sings happy birthday to laura in italy clearly something that he's been practicing because he doesn't speak italy italian what he doesn't speak italy wow he doesn't speak italian obviously so he went out of his way to learn in another language and honestly i thought it was pretty cute but it's obvious that laura is frustrated by this laura is annoyed with the fact that they didn't have sex the night before and clearly that's not the first time that's happened so she's really not in the most amazing mood right then randomly out of nowhere she gets this order of this alcohol that apparently is her favorite alcohol that she has every birthday and so she is really really excited for a second that her partner actually took an interest in the things that she did but martin makes it clear that he was not the one who ordered the alcohol he was not the one who purchased it for her and when she realizes this she gets really annoyed and she gets up and excuses herself to go to the bathroom now this is the scene where i'm not even sure if this is real or a dream it's very very confusing honestly ashley gets up to go to the bathroom she runs into massimo and he says to her the most cursed thing i think i've ever heard in a movie are you lost baby girl ah and i don't know like listen i don't know if i'm being insensitive i don't know if this is how they get down in italy or whatever these just things that they say um but uh excuse me sir i don't know you i'm not your baby girl um so this scene is really confusing because he says that to her they have this moment she walks away and then when she turns around he's nowhere to be found so it's it's really unclear to me if he's a stealth ninja and like was able to like disappear really quickly or if she imagined him i don't really know why she would though so it's a very it's very confusing so anyway the next day laura is sitting out by the pool with her friend and her partner martin is nowhere to be found apparently when she woke up he wasn't there in the bed with her and she doesn't know what he's been up to when martin comes back he basically says that he went and saw parts of italy without her because she was asleep and he didn't want to wait for her and ruin his vacation obviously laura is frustrated about this because this vacation is for her birthday and he clearly didn't take that into account when he apparently went and saw parts of italy without her martin tries to make up with her by giving her a postcard which i don't know why he thought that was a good idea and laura in her most boss [ __ ] moment decides to push him into the pool and runs off into italy to do god knows what laura is running around italy this place that she does not know alone at night the sun goes down and she's running through the alleyways and this car comes into the alleyway and this man comes from the other direction and then the scene fades to black very very suspicious very very scary so she wakes up the next day and she's wearing the same exact clothes that she was wearing but she's laying in this mysterious bed in this very very gaudy room and she gets up to try to let herself out of the room but the door is locked she can't get out and so she starts freaking out a little bit and she sits back down on the bed but then she hears the door unlock so she opens the door and she starts walking through the hallways and eventually goes down a set of stairs and as she hits the end of these stairs she enters into this large room where there's this gigantic portrait of her on the wall um policia i need help she starts backing away from the portrait she is utterly terrified and she walks right in to massimo who says once again for some reason are you lost baby girl can't i can't i can't it's so crazy i can't so at this point she's starting to recognize what's going on he kidnapped her and she doesn't really know why well massimo proceeds to tell her that apparently ever since the day his father died he couldn't get the image of laura out of his head and he is scoured the world to try to find scoured is that the right word scoured i think that's the right word google what does scourd mean scoured has two different meanings starting with the most common one scour can be used as a verb to mean clean or brighten the circle now something by rubbing it hard typically with an abrasive or detergent is that the meaning you were looking for no subject a place text etc to a thorough search in order to locate something ah you want to hear a few synonyms for scour no no i was right thank you so much i was i was right i was right um he scoured the world looking for her and apparently found her and it was just sort of a moment of synchronicity where they just happened to be at the same exact airport at the same exact time it's at this point that he tells her that he's gonna give her 365 days to fall in love with him or he will let her go on her next birthday and of course laura miss boss [ __ ] executive who got her own [ __ ] her own man her own place she's like why why the [ __ ] would i do that for you for you sir why would i put all that aside for you you know what i mean and so and so she's like i have a family i have a boyfriend i have a life i don't need a chance to find love with you at this point massimo pulls out an envelope and from the envelope he shows photos of where martin really was that morning he was with another woman left a note for martin it says that you're coming back to poland moving out disappearing from his life which is like so many layers of creepy like how did you know where she was how did you get into the room like oh my like ugh you know we won't we'll unpack that later though and then after he says that he basically forces himself on her he like sits in on top of her and and pushes her down on the bed and then says i won't do anything without your permission is this supposed to be sexy this is not sexy to me and i i like sexy things with donnie mcdonald's and men so yeah i don't get yeah no you clearly don't respect her boundaries if you're pinning her to the couch already after telling her that you've kidnapped her jesus christ at some point boss [ __ ] laura reaches into massimo's jacket and pulls out his gun and points it right at his face and for some odd reason didn't pull the trigger i mean if i was just kidnapped and someone just told me that they've been obsessed with me for years and that's why they kidnapped me and dedicated i would probably i probably would pull the trigger personally but you know twitch their own um and of course massimo ends up subduing her and at the same time that that happens mario comes in and tells him that they have some business to attend to i think it's also important to mention that the whole mafia aspect of this film is very loose i would say it's almost just there as set dressing there are apparently two families um massimo is part of i believe the toratelli family and apparently the other big family is the good gattuso family i don't know how to speak italian while i've had italian in me several times i am not italian and i do not understand how to say these words so i apologize so massimo walks into this stone i guess dungeon and there is this guy attached to a stone slab with chains on his hands apparently this guy has traffic children into the sex trade and massimo is not a fan of that so he basically says that he's going to erase him from the world as we know it meanwhile laura is having a shower and she realizes that this might be yet another time for her to try to escape so she gets herself up and she runs outside and as she runs outside massimo is setting up to shoot the guy in the back of the head and laura runs right into him when he does this when laura sees this she passes out the next day laura wakes up and she's in another strange bed and massimo is shirtless and watching over her as she sleeps not creepy definitely not creepy i guess once you kidnap somebody it's like you you you've already given up not not seeming like a total creep i guess he explained why he did what he did and tells her that he was hurting children and blah blah blah blah blah but of course laura is still like okay but you kidnapped me can i can i be let go now i don't know why i'm here massimo mentions that he's a boss like it's like this sexy thing like you know he's like that's one of the advantages of being a boss and it's like sir you just killed somebody and you kidnapped me like this is what's going through my head we'll see this later but i don't know what was going through laura's head and why why she we won't get there yet but anyway laura asks for her cell phone and her computer because she wants to be able to reach people she wants to be able to talk to people and massimo says that well she's not quite there yet she's not ready to have her own belongings quite yet um but if she ever needs anything she can ask his assistant dominico he tells her to be ready in two hours because they need to go buy some things because they're going on a trip and of course laura is like wait a minute where the [ __ ] are we going i don't want to go anywhere other than poland i don't want to go anywhere other than back home she gets really really really angry with him listen to me i'm not a bag of potatoes that you can transfer without my permission and of course this angers massimo and massimo pins her back on to the bed because like he said he's not going to touch her until she allows it which it's not that's not happening i don't understand why he said a thing he's not going to do so much like blow jobs in this film there are a lot of shopping spree shopping spree and blow jobs you know i mean i guess there are worse ways to live but this is the first of many shopping montages um and so she goes and she gets a bunch of stuff and eventually she goes to a lingerie shop and when she's changing her clothes that's when massimo decides that he can come in and sample the goods i guess you could say and obviously this makes laura incredibly uncomfortable and she gets really really angry and massimo basically says that he can do whatever the hell he wants he's you know big italian mick bosserson i guess and so and so laura runs out of the store and she tries to run away and get some attention of people so that she could get rescued from her kidnapper so she turns to the police and she's like hey this crazy guy kidnapped me can you help can you do your your police duty job i guess you could say as she's having a conversation with the police the police acknowledge massimo who was walking right behind her and they walk away because apparently they know who he is and they don't want to step on any toes even if stepping on toes means rescuing a kidnapped woman are you lost baby girl sometimes fighting is futile so this was like a really annoying part of the film for me because it doesn't make a lot of sense after she just tried to escape him they have this conversation about how all of this is fate and that she shouldn't run from a good thing she shouldn't run from fate but of course she's like no this wasn't fate you kidnapped me um and after acknowledging that she asked him if he meant what he said when he said that he wouldn't touch her until he got her permission even though we've seen that he's going to continue to touch her when he wants to touch her even even though he just barged in to her changing room unprompted and didn't give her privacy and she has no reason to believe this for some reason when he says yes to her question i guess it makes her feel more calm i don't really get it um and so she says look i want my cell phone i want my laptop i want something good for dinner a pierogi or something and he says something along the lines of i'm not the monster you think i am and then some terrible song starts playing that has the lyrics monster in it it is so obnoxious i i'm not gonna obviously be able to show you guys the music or you know share with you guys the music but it's real bad and i wish that they didn't do that because it's so literal so she's back at massimo's home and she's doing her makeup and she gets all pretty and cute for dinner and he's made dinner for her he's made a polish dinner for her how cute oh my gosh the romantic oh sorry it's definitely not um and so she's sitting there and she's kind of i guess adjusting i suppose to the situation even though this all happened within a day and masano asked her if the dinner is good and you know she says my grandma makes them better but you don't have to kill him i will give him couple of lessons strange thing to say as somebody who just try to escape the same day but whatever whatever who needs a reasonable way um for a person to develop a i don't know a character i don't it doesn't make sense and so she starts asking him what exactly he does up to this point all she knows is that he kidnaps people and he shoots people in the head before he gets to answer her question he gets a text message from his partner anna who he apparently hasn't been responding to ever since she sent him some sexy pictures which listen girl i've been there sending your best nudes and he just doesn't say anything i hope that my nudes don't encourage my partners to kidnap a random woman that would be embarrassing to say the least so massimo gives like a really [ __ ] answer yeah i got some clubs and some bars and i'm a ceo of my own corporation you know this is just very vague things and he doesn't outright say i'm a gangster i am a gangster and i kill people for a living and sell drugs massimo says that he would not have chosen to be the leader of the family if it was up to him and then laura says yeah much like me i would not have chosen to be in italy kidnapped by this man if i had a choice in it and of course mossma's reaction to that is well you know you'll you'll learn to love it you'll learn to love it so it's established throughout this film that massimo is the kind of guy who's used to getting his way and he throws a big fit when he doesn't it's at this point where massimo tells her that he basically wants her to help him become more gentle i like you to teach me how to be gentle and for whatever reason i guess this was the moment where laura decided that she was just gonna accept this because when she gets back to her room she's got her laptop and her cell phone and instead of calling her parents and saying hey this mob boss kidnapped me and i need help she says well uh i got this new job and i'm gonna be in italy for a year so love you mom k thanks bye and i guess that just begins the 365. so the next day they both wake up naked in the bed together which you know i guess is a graduation from him hovering over her without his shirt on um she gets up early and she walks into the shower and massimo notices and follows right after her like i said i do think that massimo is an attractive guy and it's clear that laura feels the same way they're both naked in the shower and laura is like checking him out specifically looking directly at his penis um and it's clear that she has attraction to him um and so she kind of does a lot of this sort of teasing sort of thing where you know she's being naked and basically saying that he'll never be able to get her and this and this and that and of course massimo who said that he wouldn't touch her until she says so grabs her by the back of the neck and i guess they start you know doing suggestive things to each other it's this sort of steamy scene where you know they're pushing and pulling and massimo says don't provoke me don't provoke me don't provoke me which you'll find out laura she she likes to do that she likes to do that so this is the day of their big trip laura is kicking and screaming and clearly not wanting to get onto the private jet but they managed to load her on sit her down in a chair and strap her to it while she's strapped down massimo decides to touch her so even though once again massimo said that he wouldn't touch her until she gave him permission he touches her she's sitting there strapped to the chair and he starts touching her breasts she he goes between her legs it's this whole thing and it's clear that in the mythos of this film this is supposed to be like a sexy seductive moment so they land in rome and they're at this bar in front of the colosseum laura is standing over with dominico licking on a ice cream cone and she's clearly trying to provoke massimo she walks up to massimo and his cousin and starts to very suggestively lick the ice cream cone in front of him and then eventually hands the ice cream cone to his cousin laura walks away from the conversation and off screen jumps into a fountain and starts making a scene massimo of course has to go and retrieve her and is clearly not really happy with her so they go to a hotel laura decides to go up to massimo's room and surprised him i guess and when she walks into the room she sees this gigantic really really gaudy portrait of massimo holding a lion's head the taste level in this film is um anyway so so it's clear that laura comes in trying to do this thing once again where she's teasing him where she's being suggestive and seductive and this and this and that and basically massimo called her bluff he takes off his pants and says give me a [ __ ] because as we've established he loves [ __ ] and of course laura's like listen i don't no no i was just trying to you know have fun and be sexy i guess and so she gets up and she starts leaving the room but the door is locked once again and when she walks back towards him he pushes her onto a bed forcibly puts her hands into these handcuffs and also puts these legs into these spreader bars he explains to her that the more she moves the wider the spreader bars will get he then calls in this woman from the other room who was apparently there the whole time and she gives him a [ __ ] and he comes really really fast which you know no comment um and i think this was supposed to make her jealous or something i think that like laura was supposed to sit over there and be jealous about this other woman giving him a [ __ ] i guess i guess it was almost like this form of like cuckoldry i guess you would say um and it's clear that like laura is in this sort of state of like jealousy and she's also really turned on after he's done getting his blow job he says to her hey you're in a position right now where i can do basically anything i want it to you if i wanted to and she's begging him to do something begging him to you know do the do and at the exact moment where she starts begging really really desperately he lets her go when he lets her go he says to her dress up because they need to be at one of his clubs in two hours so we cut to another scene and laura's coming down the stairs wearing this really cute tight sexy dress and there's this god-awful song that has the lyrics here she comes again as she's walking down the stairs i hate it i hate how literal the music is in this movie as she walks down the stairs she runs into dominica who was waiting for her and dominico is very concerned about the length of her dress domenico leads her into the club and goes upstairs to a bar and basically says stay here the bar is not too far away from the vip area where massimo is and he's apparently doing business in there with strippers and and you know what other women that's that's business i guess when you're a gangster massimo looks at her dress and is very very pissed off that she decided to have legs that day so he leads her out and yells at her for what she's wearing and laura is once again doing that thing where she's like oh i know you want me but i'm not gonna let you have me you'll be mine i guarantee you very strange position for a kidnap victim to take by the way i think this has only been a couple of days too it's like anyway the massimo goes back to his business and laura does not want to stay put she goes downstairs and she starts getting this attention of this one particular guy and they start clearly flirting with each other and she's obviously talking to him because you know she wants to piss massimo off massimo notices that she's talking to another man and rushes downstairs to confront them and by the time he goes downstairs they're already upstairs and she's dancing on a stripper pole with this guy massimo goes back upstairs and by the time he's up there the guy has started to get a little bit fresh with laura and obviously this pisses him off so massimo takes his gun out and points it at him and that is where the scene ends the next scene they're on massimo's boat and mario is very upset with massimo mario's like do you know what you just did you just put our families at war over this girl right he's really really pissed and laura goes outside and tries to apologize and says that she's sorry and massimo of course doesn't want to hear it he's like listen you you've done enough here really and so she throws a fit and she goes upstairs onto the top of the boat and they start having this back and forth argument and laura falls overboard somehow and then massimo jumps right into the water and saves her he rescues her after kidnapping her it's so brave and so romantic eventually they wake up and massimo is hovering over her with concern he's obviously really really worried about her and for some reason that alone makes laura feel this openness to him that i guess she didn't feel before so laura gets up and she finally gives him that [ __ ] oh my gosh this is uh this is a plot moment um [ __ ] is plot points um they have this marathon sex scene that lasts a very very long time and once again it was one of those moments where i was like am i watching a really well produced porn movie or is this a netflix movie about a guy who kidnapped somebody i don't know which one is which anymore i will say that they do show him eating [ __ ] in this movie and i listen i love to see it we love to see a man who is willing to reciprocate oral good for him good for him after they're done having sex it's clear that she still wants more of it the dick was so good she couldn't get enough of the italian mobster penis um and massimo says we don't have any more time for digging down because we have to go to a ball and then we cut into this shopping montage shopping montage number two where they are shopping for new clothes and there are these two very helpful gay men who are there you know making sure that she's looking the best for the ball the ball happens and it's all a very fancy affair they are clearly coming into this event as a couple they they are clearly no longer quite in that dynamic of kidnapper and victim they are there i guess stockholm syndrome has totally taken over we'll get to that later um and they do this really dramatic fancy dance to this very european music and after they do their dance this very mysterious masked woman comes up to them and starts talking to them and it's revealed that this masked woman massimo's ex-girlfriend now apparently what happened is the day that laura came to italy massimo kicked his girlfriend out of their house she said that she will kill you i'll take care of her for good reason this really really turns laura off and she wants to go home back at massimo's home laura is decompressing from the events of that evening and they have a little bit of a sexy moment and after they finish that sexy moment masamo tells laura that she's going to have to go back to poland but at this point she doesn't really want to she's really really heartbroken he tells her that there's an apartment waiting for her when she gets back to warsaw the next day dominico is driving laura back to the airport and he tells her that laura should not worry about massimo's ex on their way down to the airport however dominico gets a mysterious phone call that makes it so that he can't go all the way to the airport with her laura gets back to warsaw and the first thing she does is call up her best friend and as she gets drunker and drunker the other side comes out and she's venting to her friend she mentions that massimo comes from a very traditional italian family where he's not going to be allowed to marry foreigners laura says that it's time for a change and her best friend gets an amazing idea let's do a makeover so they go out on the town they get massages they do a spa date and they go to a hair stylist and she i don't know how this is gonna sound but not everybody needs to be blonde not everybody needs to be blonde she gets this like blonde bob haircut that i do not love on her i don't think that the blonde is the right blonde i don't think that the the cut was very flattering i think she looks way prettier with dark hair but you know it's your hair your rolls baby if you want to do that to yourself good on you they get makeovers and then they go out to the club right so they're at the club and her friend gets the attention of this one guy and laura is left on her own and when she's left on her own guess who pops up randomly martin martin pops up and she is not happy to see him she doesn't want to talk to him but he's like what happened where did you go da da da da i'm in love with you please please take me back so she's annoyed she knows that her friend is off to have fun with that guy or whatever and so she decides to leave the club but martin follows after her he follows her all the way home debating with her the whole way and when she gets to her apartment she opens a door and guess who's waiting there for her massimo and apparently it takes another man claiming her as property for martin to get the point so he leaves without much fuss massimo and laura fall asleep together massimo lies to her and says that she looks great with her new blonde bob i sold them i don't need 365 days [Music] because [Music] because when laura wakes up the next day she notices a ring on her finger and then they have another shopping spree another shopping montage she gets these cute little clothes or whatever and they're on their way to this wedding where they run into her parents she introduces massimo to her parents but tells massimo not to tell them what he does for a living mom is asking what do you do for a living i'm a gangster and of course laura catches the bouquet massimo and laura are back in italy and they're having breakfast and over breakfast laura basically requests that she have her best friend come over from poland for the wedding apparently laura can't invite her entire family to the wedding but she does ask massimo to allow him to fly over her best friend and he agrees so her best friend lands in italy and she is super excited to be back in italy with her bestie in the airport parking lot laura tells her that she got engaged and also tells her that she's pregnant she hasn't told mossimo yet but she plans on telling him soon they get back into the car and they go to a wedding shop where they pick out wedding dresses and it's another shopping montage but this one's a little bit shorter obviously she comes out wearing a beautiful dress and they get back into the car and they start heading back to massimo on her way back laura calls massimo and tries to have a conversation with him and tell him that there's something important she has to tell him when she gets home at the same time mario is desperately trying to get a hold of massimo to alert him that somebody's trying to kill laura the couple have this really cute back and forth on the phone and mario rushes as quickly as he can to get to massimo to physically be able to tell him that something's wrong because he can't get a hold of him on the phone by the time mario gets to massimo it's clear that something tragic has happened to laura and massimo drops his phone and falls to his knees and that's how it ends wasn't that worth it anyway girl let me take a break real quick and we're going to come back and have a conversation about everything wrong with this movie all right so i'm back and i have lots to talk about there's a lot to talk about with this movie so let's get into my criticisms so if you guys missed it at the top of this video the last review i did was of 50 shades of grey and a lot of people told me to watch this movie because apparently it is similar to 50 shades of grey now i will say at first i really didn't see the parallels um especially because 50 shades of grey is really deliberately about bdsm whereas this movie is well there's a few ways of looking at it you know they do have a scene where he puts laura in bondage so you could say that is bdsm and i would agree that i guess that is a form of bdsm um and throughout the film um there is this sort of power play so there is a bit of power exchange going on um and he does call her baby girl you know what i mean um but much like 50 shades of gray at least for me this does not really reflect bdsm for me um this is maybe what to some people bdsm is but at least for me that's not what it is and i actually don't think that that's what the author was intending on to make this i don't think that this was a deliberately bdsm story so right away i feel like i should say when we're comparing christian gray and massimo christian gray believe it or not between the two of these people respects consent a lot more massimo throughout the film just did not care about her consent i mean he kidnaps her so i mean that should really be enough to tell you about how he feels about consent but you know it was this weird thing where he kept saying he wasn't gonna touch her he kept saying he wasn't gonna violate but then he did that was a constant thing and i think what i did appreciate about christian gray is that he did say over and over and over again that he wanted to get her permission and even though there were a lot of other ways in which he violated consent i can at the very least say that anna was not violated physically um in the way that massimo continued to violate laura so there's that so i guess a big commonality between massimo and christian gray is that they're both men who become obsessive over this one particular woman they're both powerful men who are used to getting what they want i think the big difference though is that massimo expresses a desire to change he just expresses a desire to become more gentle whereas christian grey is kind of like hey this is who i am and if you like it you like it if you don't you don't i think also when we're comparing laura and anna laura is clearly more sexually liberated she's clearly more aware of sex she's clearly also somebody who has an interest in some form of um maybe consensual submission and unlike christian gray massimo seems to appreciate that she has some degree of sexual experience some degree of sexual autonomy and an interest you know where as christian gray seemed very excited that anna didn't know much about nothing okay so when it comes to the bdsm in this film so this is not necessarily a bdsm thing but if we're going to apply bdsm stuff to this film i guess we could say that laura would be what we would categorize in the bdsm community um as a brat a brat is basically somebody who i guess the way i would describe it is somebody who ultimately is a bottom ultimately is submissive but they really really really enjoy pushing the buttons of their dominant pushing the buttons of their top trying to get them to essentially show their dominance classic brad example would be something like this a person is getting spanked by a dominant and the person turns to the dominant in the middle of their spanking session and says is that how hard you can hit or something along those lines basically trying to egg them on and get them upset so that they would actually do something and that is something that laura does all throughout the film so i guess we could say if there's a bdsm thing that's kind of fairly consistent it's that that she is what we would categorize as a brat right i guess also maybe people could say that the bdsm stuff comes from him calling her baby girl but i'm not saying that that couldn't be there but a lot of men call their partner's baby girl and it's not necessarily a kink thing it's not necessarily a bdsm thing but it can be i think in general a lot of this movie was power exchange a lot of it was her being this sort of confident woman who is successful who is working towards making a decision to be submissive towards this guy um we'll talk about that later because it's that that was not a great progression of things but at the same time i think that's what this i think that's what the character is is this very confident woman who has to sort of feel safe and comfortable enough to be submissive with a man i i guess i should put an asterisk over all of this where a lot of what i said in terms of bra like these are all things that probably would be true if he didn't kidnap her i i guess i guess for me i could see how a vanilla would see this film and read it as a bdsm thing especially because massimo is at some point described as an alpha and he clearly is a very dominant man i guess but to me a lot of what i just said feels like i'm sort of picking at the pieces of characterization and there was really only one moment of kind of sort of bdsm and i would say that that's better in bdsm as i say where you know he doesn't really have an i don't think he has an interest in power exchange i think he just was enjoying himself and having a good time and that's also valid but a little bit different than what we would do in the community so that's that on that so like i said at the top of this video my big thing is i want to look at this film and try to figure out what they're trying to sell right what image are they trying to sell now it's interesting this film i watched it a bunch of times and the first time i watched it i think i kind of missed a lot because i was just like oh this is a boring love story which by the way this movie is very very very very very boring um it's very boring and the fact that i'm talking about it right now is honestly putting me to sleep hopefully you're awake but it's putting me to sleep um so i think that as a woman you're supposed to watch this movie and of course you're supposed to be scared because you were kidnapped but then you got you know michelle marone who's like a really really handsome sexy guy and i think you're supposed to watch it in tandem with all the shopping sprees and all of every other lavish thing that she's doing and i think you're supposed to pine for that life you're supposed to be like wow i wish i had a rich italian mobster to take care of me and pay for everything i think that's what you're supposed to feel um for me i didn't feel that way at all but i know i get the impression that that's what a lot of that stuff is so here's the thing um i do think that stuff like 50 shades of grey and this film are escapism for a lot of women this is a this is a book this movie is based on a book that was written by a woman um and the impression i get is that these are things that maybe excite the women reading this and writing this but they're not things that are realistic or things that you'd want to actually happen these are all just sort of i guess i don't know it's like you it's like people have synthesized these feelings and turned them into a story line i mean there are so many shopping sprees in this movie that i i was honestly like why is why are they showing this you know i don't think i can't think of a reason why they would show it if you weren't meant to look at something like that be excited by it i mean listen massimo is supposed to be you know this big mafia boss who is literally willing to put his life on the line to defend laura you know i think that that is a fantasy for a lot of women i think a lot of women do imagine themselves in a position where they're dating a man who's willing to do anything for them and that's kind of what this is and even though it doesn't make a ton of sense which we will get to later i guess that that's kind of what where you're supposed to feel when you watch as you're supposed to look at it and and feel like wow i wish i lived like that and i think so for that reason i'm not crazy about it i'm not crazy about it um i know that some people were trying to get the movie removed from netflix which i'll be completely honest with you guys i think is pretty ridiculous um i don't know if this i feel like this film isn't as bad as some of the other stuff i've seen on netflix um i mean i watched 13 cameras if you guys haven't seen that that's a pretty freaking creepy movie um i think that's a lot scarier honestly i don't think that anyone's going to watch this movie and be like well i should start kidnapping women that's that's the surefire way to get them to be interested in me i don't think anyone's going to do that personally all right so here's what i really wanted to talk about because this is some stuff that actually aggravated me let's talk about the story okay so first and foremost the whole premises it doesn't make sense you know massimo became obsessed with this random woman who was standing on the beach the day his father was killed but why though you know it didn't show that they had any interaction like i would almost understand if they actually interacted with each other they actually saw each other and they had a connection or something but that never happened you know it so it really really doesn't make a lot of sense like i just don't get it like it to me it just doesn't make a lot of sense that's just some random girl on the beach like why would you see her remember her and then become obsessed with her also if you remember exactly what she looks like enough to have a portrait of her face in your apartment that is spot on accurate why did you need her to fly into italy at the same time to know who she is like there's a lot of this stuff that doesn't totally make a lot of sense you know so here's another big criticism i have of this film i appreciate that the film keeps with laura and her perspective i do appreciate that that's what they're trying to do but i i honestly felt like a lot of the film hurt because we weren't seeing on the mafia side enough i mean we really only leave laura's perspective once in the very very beginning when he kills that guy and that's the closest we ever really see to any sort of actual violence everything else is just kind of imagined or off screen i think for me that took me out of it a bit i think if we knew something about his job it might make more sense as to why he became so obsessed with laura because i still couldn't understand why i mean especially this guy he's this attractive guy who could probably sleep with anybody he wanted especially since he's mr mafia boss but why this one girl it doesn't make a lot of sense i almost feel like there could have been one or two things that would have helped make that clearer but oh well so a lot of times when people make movies based on books they really gotta condemn stuff and the way that things were condensed in this movie made it really hard for me to believe that she had any sort of stockholm syndrome that would convince her to eventually sleep with him i mean i do like when she first wakes up and she realizes that she was kidnapped because laura is having every normal reaction you would have if you were kidnapped what the [ __ ] let me go i'm gonna run and i'm still racking my brain to figure out why exactly she would stay with him like okay maybe her boyfriend's a cheater but she still has friends family all of poland to [ __ ] i don't understand why she would get information about him cheating and then be like yeah i guess i'll stay here for a year that to me that doesn't make a lot of sense and they could have probably done it in a way where it did but that on its own totally does not make any sense to me at least so a lot of times with stockholm syndrome what ends up happening is somebody will kidnap you and then suddenly you guys have a common goal or a common enemy and you guys work together to that end and through that you start to form a relationship where you say oh my gosh i don't want anything to happen to this person even if that person kidnapped you and treated you terrible right and there really wasn't a moment like that in this movie at all like i don't understand where i don't get it you know i mean there really wasn't much development and i think honestly if we're being real none of the characters really were developed like i don't think laura really changed as a person i don't think massimo really changes the person like no one really changed i mean i guess you could say i guess you could say that laura changed to accept the situation but um i don't know like maybe but that's that's it that you know she's getting and getting engaged and married now and is that so different from what she would have done before i don't know so i know that massimo jumping into the water is supposed to be this like groundbreaking moment this like oh my gosh she's changing but like again i don't really think that that's changed i think that he would have done that before i think that if she fell into the water the day she arrived he would have jumped into the water to save her you know i feel like a lot of the change felt really really forced i mean i think the scene where she runs into the streets is like a perfect example of that she goes from trying to escape her attacker to asking him to make her a traditional polish dinner and that's so weird that's not really realistic i think i would have liked seeing her pull more i'm gonna make him feel like i like him kind of things and then her running away i just couldn't understand why she stayed there why um you know it i don't i didn't get it you know i mean i also don't think that she made him gentle like i think that the the boat scene was really interesting because i just didn't see it like okay so he jumps in after her she falls in the water and then he jumps in after her and rescues her i could understand being flattered by that but i don't think that that was something that he wouldn't have done the first day i think that if if she fell in the water on the first day being there i'm pretty sure he would still jump in the water to save her so i don't really know what the [Music] i don't really know what the character development was i mean it's also not really shown that he's some sort of selfish person who doesn't do anything for anyone like i guess laura tries to point out throughout the film that he has people to do everything for him and maybe him doing you know the rescuing on his own was him doing for himself but they didn't establish that well enough there's so much stuff that they could have done with little things that they just didn't establish they should have really really established that literally everything is done for him that and so maybe if when that scene happened that would have felt a bit more like him going out of his way because it's clear that when she wakes up and sees him sort of hovering over her making sure that she's okay it shifts her perspective and now she's like wow maybe this guy is a guy that i could be in love with and it's i don't know it's yeah so i don't get i don't get it i just don't get it i think the only character that i like is named olga which is her best friend she was the only one who was like [ __ ] get the [ __ ] out of there like i mean yes she was kind of like oh what's the italian dick like or whatever but she was kind of like yeah i think you should leave him actually and yeah of course she didn't listen i honestly feel like this was a film that consisted of like these moments you know moments of her at the ball moments of her shopping catching the bouquet like it was all these like little tableaus of things that i think a lot of women grow up wanting to have and wanting to see but i don't think it was a good movie you know like i don't think that that makes a good movie i think it makes really really good escapism so overall my issues are with i think i think i have my biggest issues with the story the story and the consent the premise doesn't make sense the characters don't change there's no explanation for why she would stay um there's really no explanation for why she wouldn't fight harder um i don't get it i really really don't get it like i said i think that this was a movie about a series of tableaus and not like actual content you know i obviously don't think that this film is worth watching if you want to watch something like it it's a maddening film and it's really about a kidnapping you know and it really does try to make that into some sort of romantic thing and then she dies like that to me is also an interesting part is like all of that and then she dies and it's such an underwhelming ending and i think that maybe it was trying to show like oh she had finally changed him and and she came into his life at the right time or whatever which i guess that's also a parallel between um christian gray and massimo is this idea of you know the woman changing them but at the end of the day um these are really exhausting films to watch if you can't tell by the amount of times i've fallen asleep while trying to film this um it's just not it's just not good it's just not good and the only thing i will say that's that's sort of positive about it is that the sex scenes are very well shot i thought that the sex scenes were sexier than um shades of grey but other than that y'all it it's been a truly mad it's a truly maddening viewing experience i definitely think that 365 does romanticize abuse it does romanticize um you know not respecting people's consent um there's a lot of things in the movie that made me very very uncomfortable mostly just the amount of times that massimo touched laura without even speaking to her um or speaking to her but disregarding her boundaries you know like that's terrible that's that's terrible glad i saw it now i know but it was probably terrible before i [ __ ] ruined my week i think that this film is total escapist trash and i don't want to look at it ever again i'm so tired of looking at this movie i'm really really it's it's accurate so aggravating i want to watch something that's like mildly enjoyable but also maybe a little bit bad let me know if you guys want me to do other reviews and what you would want for me to do reviews of because i will say these two movies have been real frustrating like that's why it's taking me so long to do it they're so frustrating and i literally my tolerance is like barely there you know so all right i hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you guys do want me to do more
