this time of vice grip barrage I buy a very rare and unique car for my buddy tavaresh way down in Florida it's a 1975 Brooklyn sv1 I've never seen one before until now and quite frankly I have no idea what's going on or how to work on that it's been off the road for 40 years so I'm going to try to get it going again and drive it 700 miles back home seems fine nope no clue where to start great [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so I've been here a few times Freddy's place beautiful cars they're like the exoticals or whatever not the ones that go on a zoo but you drive them they're really nice I can't pronounce most of them and I said hey find me an exotic car and this is I think it's because it's got a push rod V8 in it but Freddie is here to sell us on why I need this car how's it going man hi so uh thanks for having me now you want me to sell you this car yeah I mean why why am I why do I need this because I don't want it okay well that's yeah I don't understand that it's beautiful it's a 1975 Brooklyn sv1 it was made by a Visionary uh named Malcolm Brooklyn it was built in Canada the outside is made of acrylic so basically bath tile oh it has uh 351 Windsor V8 in it Ford powered Ford powered so a three-speed automatic and it looks like this that's all that's all you need to know that's fantastic the selling point of this car okay is is this so oh the Plexiglas window yep oh wait okay these doors weigh 90 pounds each and they do this oh wow oh okay that is That's Heavy impressive yeah it smells terrible it's it's okay man you know like this is have you ever uh bought an old car before that's what they all smell like a couple times like wet bath towels and I don't even know regret yeah lots of regrets well what's great is that you can let it go and then see it doesn't slam down luxury it's nice well I think where we got to start is a walk around to this thing and I'm gonna take you with me because I don't even know what I'm looking at oh yeah oh yeah this is there there's a lot here white letter tires well one 's a trailer tire here's what I do now they were made two years 74 or 75. they look a lot like a DeLorean or a Pantera it might have been some sharing on the design ideas but the good news is it's got a push rod V8 so we might have a slight chance it operated this vehicle but let's go ahead and dig through this thing we'll start in the rear get up to the cabin eventually end up in the power Barn here see what we got you were nice enough to include some parts well uh yeah okay first of all the carpet in here looks like my grandma's dining room I mean this is uh it's period correct let's call it that yeah yeah pulleys uh-huh need those charger whirler with what is that that's uh that's so the electricity doesn't escape okay okay or the smoke got it new coil yep flame thrower only slightly uh damaged by water so you are gonna hop this up clearly yeah yeah this was uh this is a big deal I was gonna actually restore this to factory fresh water pump that's a great sign uh-huh power steering pump that's stuck in there more pulleys I sure I think that's a Chevrolet bracket actually well we're going to make it work so that's good that wasn't like that before is that black mold it is the black mold you probably shouldn't put that near your face okay you probably definitely shouldn't do that it does stink really bad yeah what is this though honestly I and then moving yeah so so I know like sometimes they had active arrow and they went like this at speed you know okay so I just need to strut yeah I think this is probably for the front bumper or something or it might not be for this car who knows oh oh boy that is oh boy oh boy why'd you do that okay hey wait wait wait look at that oh look at that they work it's fixing itself I don't know if I should touch it or not I'm just going to leave it yeah I should just leave it like that we got speakers in here yep look at the radio 434 was its death I made a mistake and I lifted this yeah oh yeah it's good so bad but there's no rust in it because it can't rust right uh well the body the body can't but the the frame can oh Jerry's out on that so it's all fiberglass and resin and bath tile yeah it's it's bath tile and then underneath is that fiberglass and then it's uh it's regular old steel wow and clearly it's durable foreign look look how like majestically the glue was put on yeah someone loved their job listen Canadians know what they're doing when it comes to building cars I mean that's where all the good cars come from this was built on a Friday you could tell it's like I'm done knock this down with like a wool pad yeah it's looking really good all right sure you know usually you're pretty sarcastic and dry about these things but I think this is a really good card no I I agree it's does this one open it it does wait it wait not well is that a Chevrolet like a body mirror I think so so it's Ford powered GM steering column GM mirrored uh amc-ish Wheels has a AMC suspension I believe the suspension is from like a hornet um okay uh yeah so I mean it's a rocket ship it's a sports car it's a sports car here's the thing I'm going to refrain from entering the vehicle just a little bit longer I think I'm going to let it air out yeah just The Moldy baby blanket wadded up in the passenger seat that's missing that looks like uh like bread from a bakery yeah yeah it's it's going to be great but we're going straight to the power barn and this has invisible Hood pins this is a liftoff Hood yeah it's like a race car you know you just gotta take it like that and oh wow that's a good sound sure enough there's there's an engine in there isn't it why are there so many hoses though I was gonna ask you that you know is that is that a thing that they did back in the day no not at all I don't know what that is hello that's uh I I believe that's do they have that's an air conditioning compressor this thing that looks like it takes up half the engine or does that run the doors how do the doors open I don't know perfect there's like Airlines over here with like a gauge spectral Optometry mercury meter and uh just a lot of stuff missing but hey you got you got a radiator yeah is this included actually it is uh I don't know if it comes from this car I don't think it does but we'll make that work we got ratchet straps and zip ties I like how it's like three inches higher than the hood yeah that's okay not all we got hammers some more race car parts so we're missing a charging we're charging wheeler brackets water pump pulley all the belts the fan some miscellaneous accessory drives but the fuel making happener is here oh look at that that that's probably going to work fine power brakes why did that move so it moved because it's it's bolted onto fiberglass okay so that's normal yeah it's good I could see how this was really safe well it's a safety vehicle one um and uh one interesting bit is that when you drive this away and I hope you do uh instead of having five mile an hour bumpers like every car in the 70s used to have uh this has 10 mile an hour bumpers so you can wow we could really crank her up oh yeah so an interesting fact about this car one of the reasons honestly I I'm enjoying doing this right now is he said I'll sell it to you but you're not going to write a check to me it's going to go to charity so in a sense you're giving a charitable donation for this vehicle yeah I guess you know sure why not it's this doesn't seem charitable nothing on this car seems very charitable but I'm glad you like it I'm glad you like it so good luck uh thanks this is this where I get a bill of sale and you kind of just disappear and and then you don't answer my calls for a week I gotta I gotta go do stuff um if you need I have some water and a bathroom great and maybe some tools all right and if it starts raining we got a little tent for you perfect so do do your thing I don't want to get in your way uptown man well thank you for this what did you call it earlier a hyper car this is a hyper car okay if you if you buy a Pagani or a Koenigsegg or something and they have these crazy doors is that like a dinner meal what is that exactly yeah yeah okay yeah that's exactly what it is all right thanks okay good luck I bring you guys in here this is what we're looking at [Music] um so yeah not completed but pretty close we got fuel making happeners of course that's Motorcraft this is at 351 Ford look at the stickers on it it's probably going to be low mileage I believe it's been sitting at minimum 40 years or at least off the road so it could be low mileage we'll try to figure that out a little bit but all the accessorize have been stripped out of it and the radiator and I'm assuming there was some sort of bracketry or something I've went with that but we'll try to Cobble something together for that aspect of it any hoose got some sort of fancy dual clozolator cableage rig here of course you got the power brakes with boosters you know I don't know that's probably the power steering was a smock I don't know there's an air pump down there or something I don't know what I'm looking at gotta be honest a lot of fiberglass stuff like that gonna have to get out the grout you know the bathroom grout tile stuff start plugging away on some of this and the glass has been patched up with some silicon that looks pretty good you know we got one good trailer tire up here cargo maxises turbine wheel lock was really popular I think this is where that aerodynamic spoiler goes somewhere down in that thing pop-up headlights boy that's fancy no definitely not dry rotted Tire over here this side is really good other than the scratch on the roof you know because we could probably glue that right back huh it's nice not seeing rust but this febre glass might be difficult to patch up not quite sure this tire can probably be patched it's got most likely a leak down here somewhere a boots here's the fuel fill right back oh custom cap sure okay so this is where I figure 40 years minimum 1970 the Blue Plate started with the yellow font and in 1976 they started requiring an annual tag which you can see remnants of that here looks like someone has stole it off the vehicle actually and then in 1982 the plate was changed so it's between 76 and 82 so at the earliest this car was last registered and on the road 40 years ago a big old crash bumper you know safety it's real safe this window won't leak I'll think at all them don't shrink up all right I think it's time we finally we finally we got to get in there a little bit more starting to rain that's right this here is not a light switch apparently that's how you're supposed to open the door ours is not doing that I guess there was electro digital ones and or hydrauliculous system commercial in your car we'll look at it well I'm sure we're probably not gonna and then this was the lock right here not a gym locker it says gym locker on the side this is how you lock the light switches the switch that opens up the door up fun fact all said and done 74-75 they made less than 3 000 of these and reportedly in 2012 there were only 1700 left well that was a decade ago how many are off today is 1300 1400. seems like a good thing going on this door is brown not the original door I've already seen markings in the hood and the inner fender December 13th 1975 was the birth date of this vehicle this one is March so different door I already smashed my head off the door that's number three okay now this is yeah seed is great you know I guess you're not really sliding into the seat it might be difficult to figure ophthalmologist steering wheel is already wrapped I'm falling off I don't know if that's the original wheel or not quite frankly I have no idea what I'm looking at so I don't know if it's original or not you know what I mean mileages nine thousand seven hundred and eight I don't know if that is the deal or not I was only on the road for math you know not that long the pedal is actually not worn I mean at all and either is the throttle pedal I mean it's bent I mean someone was really trying to get some out of it I guess that's pretty interesting but things broken off wait a second I thought this was a oh they just borrowed another hood latch for the rear thing that's fancy let's see none of this is gonna work I'm sure oh okay that's this was broken already and uh we got a tackle meter 5500 well the engine's blowing up that's good uh I think we got oil pressures temperatures apparatuses fuel there's the Digiplex this is right here am or FM I mean we're talking about a fancy rig here oh yeah okay nothing says power and performance like a little pencil shifter that must be the e-brake is this brass well that's why the car was so expensive I don't know what those buttons were supposed to be but they're snapped right off passenger seat delete you know you don't need a drinker seat looks like they were just laying down in here sleeping after the tavern this it's slightly concerning it very very damp moldy not so good someone was planning on changing the oil wait a minute I don't need to buy an oil filter brand new now Lewis's heater is gonna work fine sure no idea okay there ain't no glove box can't carry them around Jim Robbins built the belts back in the day you know we got more lids there's the black mold box there's the juice uh solenoids so that's gonna work just fine I'm sure and if you're wondering what the headliner looks like well that's what you got you know back then pretty goofy cars to be honest pretty goofy why did you have to have a light latch over here if you got a light switch a thing over there who knows does have tilt blinker sticks broke off but that is pretty much the whole inside I'm Gonna Leave This door open I think letter air a little bit well here's what a guy's gonna do I think we're going to forget about everything I don't know nothing about here on this particular vehicle which is we're going to focus on this here engine so I'm going to need that to get home pretty sure I'm going to start by just making sure this thing actually rotates it turns over I think I saw the battery compartment behind the Drinker seat that's missing but instead of just jamming on the key which I think is disconnected with the explosion of wires bang on underneath column there I'm going to go ahead and just put a ratchet on a crank down here see if I can occasionalize it by hand and just make sure that we get 360 degrees of rotation nothing is stuck now we are in Florida this is a California car obviously but we have one Coast we got another close presumably that's where it's spent its entire life so there's been a lot of moisture creeping in this engine and there's a good chance we could have some ring ridges or some stuck valve trains I don't I don't know all right I got this here to ratchet crank let's see what happens yeah it's rotating sounds terrible stuff bending valve train just keep going yeah it's going around there now it's getting easier I think we just had a little bit of Ridge all right that is fantastic news now theoretically with the Sciences we just need fuel and lightning and this is going to do something so I'm going to move on to that ignition because there's wires looks like Mom's spaghetti minus the sweater you know and then see if we can get power up here to the lightning can and we'll test this we'll do all that stuff first looks like this is going to have points in it and then take a peek all in all this is like a does this have some sort of sparkling letter box or something I don't know what I'm looking at but we need we got to get sparkles that's the next step 14 months later and three bulge discs I got that door open which is also a brown one wrong one and then I jammed the New Old Stock oil filter up in there to keep it open so I can get over to the other side and then finish opening it I'm trying to get to this battery that these guys threw in to see if any of the digitals worked and I don't think it's going to have any juices so I'm going to go right to mine but I didn't want to you know kind of guy yeah well repeat and say I got the never start out and I found look at a screwdriver free yeah yep seat belt thanks okay pretty self-explanatory futuristic with the side mount posts in 75 wow yeah welcome to Derek's non-fictional storytelling time they moved the Gate of my flight no big deal went to the other game that's what they moved it again the application on the phone did an update missed that two flights later ended up in Detroit wait a minute that's the wrong direction I do own a compass two flights later ended up Florida by then the car rental place is closed supposed to have a small pick em up truck then I got this Hot Rod Van behind me everything's been just going fine very very specific reason I'm using this battery for this particular vehicle it's important no it was the cheapest one on the rock the head side posts on it and then it's got the go handle so that's this is why that's why I grabbed this one we're gonna have to do a fire test but this one's you know I can't be under the hood whilst test engaged so we're just we're going to jam this in really quick and then we'll run up front or you can let me know if you hear stuff sparking and buzzing I guess I got to get this old battery up battery cores are up to 22 dollars now each I have to check my blood pressure why isn't this going in now you came right out you just go the other direction all right can't you know this way when you wreck the car this sits back here and arcs and shoots flames and starts everything on fire right behind the driver's compartment you know no what is this the button to hear you're really looking for something oh that time buzzers went off fasten your seat belt I don't know where it's hot oil pressure's bad yep and brakes brake light is on [Music] great I want to keep that there let's go see what we got I just now realized having opened and closed these doors a few times once I get in this vehicle I can't it's I'm not getting out that's that's fine all right well good news is I had to go find this here digital voltage meter and don't look like nothing's I mean there's no fire anywhere okay we need these up here uh let's see we need a v there 1.8 five six three point seven six point two four not good okay that goes to this I think there's going to be oh here it is yep we got the never spark box great that's great and I put it where you can't get it out even better all right well we can at least test on the lightning again popped us off we're going to check the primary and secondary windings in here one goes right down the center other one wraps around that Pence primary secondary flip this over to the Horseshoe mode where is it I don't know here it is yep okay then fire this up twenty thousand nine eight nine point six eight why is it moving around so much 14 10 9. 8 9 10 8 6 3 10 11 fault fault eleven nine eight six three two nine point six eight point four six point seven eight point nine six three point two fourteen point five fault nine point eleven eleven point two nine point eight six nine point eight point six eight nine eight point nine eight six eight now it's staying 8.7 well I think I think this coil might be bad in there so the great thing about Ford is it's got this really weird slidey cap for the coil that no one uses and everyone figured out right away that it was nonsense so I got to find a coil to match that now doubtful we're going to find it by this application so I have to do some rooting around there I think I'm gonna have to run down to the parts store I'm gonna grab a couple things maybe a digital fuel pump just in case have no idea what to do with belts yet hoses all this stuff missing up here this is going to leak what is that hook to back here no one knows is that vacuum into the coolants okay we're gonna have massive vacuum leaks all right plan I have no idea what it is but what almost pulled out guy went on ahead and just got to thinking wait a second go back in time we found a lightning wheeler in the back and a coil it could be a patronix we could get rid of the never spark and the pickup thingy and all that stuff let's go see well I'll be dipped Tronics flamethrower actually the coil is what made me think of this because that was a flamethrower as well so now this little guy just pokes into the other coil the new one and that just needs keyed ignition and we should be set and then we can get rid of that boxy stuff and everything else we just have to get this other lightning wheeler out I hope that it's not seized in here that could be yeah that could be a thing that's looking pretty Grody down there okay Switching the gears we're gonna get that out and swap it quick oh hey wow that looks clean wouldn't it be wild if this was legitimately 9 000 miles it just sat and eroded away look at the stickers on the engine pretty wild just as a guy suspected the base of the lightning whirler is just hermetically sealed in there good news is being I have another one I can get a little rambunctious with this I've always found prying up against the intake it's going to crack this case I would rather just try to work it free we're going to see what happens I want to get some juice down in here and start you know lubricating and penetrate and then maybe get some Mister oil on it I don't know what it's in it it's a mystery but it seems to work tire shop and trying to find some with only two Nails in them the problem is finding 15s anymore it's tough yeah I have a lot of tires there well while the guy was out getting some miscellaneous parts and pieces some electrodigital connector ends do dabs stuff like that swunged in and got those tires tiger pass I don't know I asked for this cheapest tire that would hold wind confident I got that you know anyway been soaking down this lightning whirler got me a lightning whirler remover should be able to stick it under here make her go plop yep just like that well that's good that wasn't seized up in there that would have been a bad day well for Pete's sake I got connectors hooked into everything sure dropping this patronix one in or whatever it is flamethrower says it's got four names we'll get it close we'll come back and figure out timing never in the future you know sure I am testing this coil which Freddy was kind enough to clean it up for me it needs to be between 1.5 and 2.5 to fire that lightning wheeler slow up slow up there we go yeah oh okay so this will work still good so we already know this one's bad because we tested it but also has these funny you know slide on clippy clue things this one has the traditional nuts now we could just use the clip and then splice it into the wire for the 12 volt switched ignition and wire not all that together but this is actually just easier anyway I just need the one fitting so this one goes in the junk just need the bracket track this one goes back in the brick okay so this is going to go to the new coil but that needs 12 volt switched now we can't run off this doodabby that plugged into the other lightning wheeler because it goes through the never spark box I've unplugged that that's this here now out of this this guy here should be 12 volts switched so I'm going to test that you know just jamming jamming this in here like that and we should get 12 volts there we go so what we're going to do is cut into this and basically if it re well it won't reach we'll just extend this wire over to the coil and then this will go there that'll go there this the science boom lightning shoots down the hoses we should have spark theoretically so Freddie's kind enough he's digging into the tires for me and he's gonna mount two I don't know we had a tough time figuring out how to jack this thing up gonna be honest and I'm finishing up the coil here I got a wire hooked in which I believe is the tack I've got 12 volt positive then I got to patronix flame thrower too early 6000 hooked in as well so ignition theoretically should be there now we haven't even looked at a sparkle later yet or the condition of lighting hoses so I did the right thing and plugged all them back in you know one three seven two six five four eight counterclockwise on the rotationalizationals and the lighting where they're there this is the good wire I used got about every color you need in here okay so I think we finish up these tires quick get it down on all four paws see what I did there and then we're losing light I don't know how much farther I can get tonight [Music] [Music] he's over there balancing man look this is a coating we were looking at this it's weird one of them said like it's not that pill oh it's right here it was like resin dipped it's either French Canadian or it means something not quite sure but it's got some sort of weird coating on it and they are way out of whack they're like they do this but he's getting them dialed in maybe we got enough wheel weights she's got two boxes open yep it's getting serious this car is very very shiny and quite frankly scares me we have lost light for tonight we're going to shut it down here in a minute but first we're going to finish getting the tires on get the car back on the ground tomorrow we need to hear this thing run we've still got to check the shift machine see if it goes forward goes backwards we've got charger wheeler brackets water pump pulleys all the belts do dabs hoses radiators and whatnots and then you know brakes last and then of course 700 mile drive home we'll see you bright and early tomorrow morning why is the engine in the back of everything here good morning day two on the brickland here Freddie and I did stay late and successfully install the tiger paws by the way they're touring tires adding to the hyper car package over here now before we go any further I need to hear this thing run for a little bit before we throw any more time and money on it so we're going straight into the engine today got to hear this thing bark off at least for 30 45 seconds then we continue working through this thing okay race car hood release nope is it this broken one is it the other one that says Hood oh what is that one not sure how I'm gonna deal with this and lay home now yesterday a guy did get the patronix in not to be confused with the people that make music with their mouths you know it's a lightning weather now I'm looking at these lighting hoses and whatnot I don't know that we need to change them necessarily we don't need to throw the parts cannon at this thing it only needs what it needs okay but I am going to pull a Speculator out there's 58 912 hoses and stuff on this side so I think I'm going to scoot to the other side pull the spark lighter out scan on it and we might even be able to we you know leave them too save some money and then we could just dump some fire maker down the app hopefully hear this thing bark off we going for here number five the snake on this one because well it's the easiest but it should give us an idea what we're looking at here well for crying in the mud she's really stuck in there come on there we go hey that ain't bad well they're Auto lights richer than Bill Gates and they're just caked in dialectical's grease so I'm assuming an AC3 Certified mechanic probably put these in no reason to change these I don't think these are getting expensive I ain't kidding you so let's save the 50 bucks pop this thing back in if a problem arises they almost think about swapping it but these are good enough for the girls we date yeah guys should probably check on the Earl here see what that says uh a quart and a half low 10 30. a little bit of moisture in it not terribly bad don't panic I think we'll be all right we can at least run it on this for you know a minute say no minute and four seconds then we'll swap on it okay now fuel I've already got that disconnected we don't want to accidentally pump a bunch of varnish and stuff in there this is the filter carry one in my pocket nope but I think you know what I'm saying we're going to keep that up here for now remind me where that's at because I'll be panicking looking for that here in a minute and I think if everything is clear let me find some juice we'll throw it down the Yap here spin on the key test the starter sparkles and just see if it runs now the timing I professionally lasered that in with my eyeballs yesterday but it'll be good enough for I'm guaranteed this here is some true fuel you know it doesn't lie to you it's basically a 92 octane with two-stroke oil in it it's going to help lubricate the upper end cylinder walls and things like that about the worst thing you can do is just start brake cleaning an engine spraying other flammables down here without lubrication if they've been sitting dry forever I'm going to fill the bowl up here a little bit there's about a 2.3 percent chance that fuel making happener is going to work without me rebuilding it so let's just have the confidence and fill her on up see if this idle circuit is gonna work everything seems to be plugged with sand so doubtful very a little bit wow way way too much perfect well I've successfully flooded it okay didn't disconnect the battery last night I was not very smart I was kind of hoping this would get stolen you know overnight it did not but it's probably going to be dead now all the voltage is leaked out we'll find out I'm actually going to use the key instead of the Lone Wolf 6000. and we could test the ignition rack hold that wiring starter spark the whole gamut in the shop here we go bring the Thunders nope oh it's trying this might be a runner there it goes let me try that again yes oh yeah it's a runner give her a scoochy timing no accelerator pump that's weird come on there we go another timing adjustment nice it's alive this one's pretty good that's how it does that all right I that's great news well it is definitely a runner got concerned for about .04 seconds Sarah that crazy noise but all that was was this line rubbing against the crank pulley I thought the starter was stuck on the flywheel and I was thinking oh we're gonna have to put a starter in this thing but lighting hose is good Sparkle later is good timing yes fuel make it happen or is making it happen so far so let's go ahead and change the oil on the fill tray on this thing now guy really had to dig in here just to find the drain plug she's buried under all this well it might have a leak somewhere not sure but anyway I'll get this drop quick it was about 60 of them are interested in this I don't know I always get a kick out of it just seeing what kind of filter was in it this is a Federated Auto Parts of course I tried to get a Wix this would work like in a truck application with a 351 W problem is she's too long and this is some sort of chrysler-esque front suspension geometry and it ain't gonna fit in there so I gotta fly it onto the parts store we're gonna have to cross reference this part number and try to figure out what filter hopefully a Wix or like a k m that's shorter that I can fit in there it's looking like this HP 2004 k n is going to have the best design it's even a quarter inch shorter than the Wicks so this will fit up in there correctly so I'm going to use this guy there we go fill Trey is in I gotta go find a marker write the date or the miles on your filtrace Fellers because then a guy you know you can you know what's going on you know what I mean this 351w was to be in a pickup truck for example I would use something like repellent T4 diesel oil but it's not on a hyper car super Victory 1000s whatever this thing is so I'm going to use T4 diesel oil instead it's got all the dinosaurs and vitamins we need for this guy oh yeah that's great since I couldn't fill the oil fill tray because it's out of you know Ford angle where you can't fill it I'm putting in this maximum performance treatment quiets noisy lifters sure that ought to overfill it pretty good really green minty hmm well the guy is making some progresses this morning the biggest thing is we've heard the engine run now that we know the ignition and the column is good the starter is good obviously we've got spark we've got the oil changed we've got to move on to a fuel supply now normally let's just run some hose and stick around to a jug and get this thing fired up but see I'm running out of time and 14 we're going to need capacities if we're going to make this trip from Florida all the way up to Tennessee so I think I'm just going to dump some fuel in the tank surely the rag that's just full of sand and sediment has kept that gas tank nice and clean and then we'll see if the mechanical fuel pump is going to pump that up fresh fuel right up here and then we could plug her into the fuel make it happen here now normally I use some like old weed whacker gas or lawnmower or something from the tiller or the you know the zero turn from last year but this isn't my facility so we actually have fresh I think it's 93 octane fuel which is not cheap but we're going to dump that in tell you something right now Fellers Life's a dance you learn as you go sometimes you lead it sometimes you follow but don't worry about what you don't know right now I think for leading I think knock on Balsa okay how do you what there we go it is just it's all coming out it's regurgitating fuel oh every time we didn't so come on we're just gonna Pretend We're Not spilling anything okay there's something very wrong with the feeling procedure here what how could this be oh there we go I think I was just pouring it right into the waterfall event that's all right no that's 17 dollars ah should be on the road that's fine fill the ball up again can a guy get this title for just a minute the goal is to try to pull some fuel from the tank back there get this pump working I'm going to take a little bit of brake clean it's flammable flavor and shoot it down the fuel line back into the fuel pump and I'm trying to get the diaphragm to diaphragm basically right now it's just it's like concrete got to get some flexibility and some lubrication Maybe there we go it's going to give us a false sense of hope if anything else because when we turn the key it might start doing that but we want to pull from the tank because I needed that capacity otherwise I got a strap and a bomb and passenger floorboard right home without the whole way that's great all right let's crank on it see what happens there's the spiritage lines out of the way you're riding good no kill still no kill still no kill still nothing I think it's safe to say the fuel pump is not going to fuel pump we're hoping to see fuel coming out of here I can feel it making contact but it ain't just pulling fuel sounds good [Music] well bummer maybe I got to put a little bit more gas in it no probably not add more fuel oh too much settle down a little bit there there we go hoping this is the issue we tried this Super Magnum 400 succulator device tried to get fuel out of the line didn't work tried to put air back through the line and there didn't work we clamped it on here and she's building about 150 psi of air and it was not coming through the other end it's low pressure fuel hose yeah good that's good yeah I think it says uh 30 morning or something yeah so we have a major restriction and it's probably going to be the pickup tube or the sock in the actual tank itself but I'm going to crawl under and see if I can see where it connects to the tank and make sure that this part is clear and that make the decision of dropped a tank or put something like this in the passenger seat and the right thing to do is just drop the tank and clear that so I'll probably put something like this in the passenger seat Well things might just get a little out of hand at this point there's a like 74 lifts in this building right here so instead of Walling around on the ground I think I'm just going to go ahead and push this in there and use that and then we can figure out this fuel issue faster it's technically I should be on the road already so that's that's fine oh my goodness [Music] so we're taking a McLaren out and an Aston Martin you know to the brickland can use the lift instead that seems to make a lot of sense you know [Music] all right Brooklyn is in now we can get this up in the air and determine what the fuel restriction is in this vehicle I have a very good feeling it's going to be the pickup tube or the sock of the tank unfortunately okay we're about to embark on a journey here wow yeah that's a that's a car we got um we got some air tanks I believe those are two drinking water systems but for this purpose they're made for cars crudely welded and sealed you got your fresh water and your gray water I think that's what it is yeah some sort of yeah that's just like refrigerator water line okay good yeah um I don't see any Wheels cylinders leaking that's semi-positive this has been cut and held up with a throttle return spring so I've worked on this car at some point is this your car I think yeah okay good oh this exhaust Freddy saw this they pre-squished it yeah because apparently you jump these somehow they the axle drops a foot when you jump them well I think it's probably also because you want it to be up like actually I'm moving the entire car so well it's because of the performance shocks yeah yeah yeah these are the uh the monroes that they put on here oh boy uh again attention the detail on the fabrication here with the glue this is I mean Canadians know what they're doing when it comes to cars and then this nice afterthought panel on the floorboard you know because rocks were probably coming into your teeth so like well let's just put these plates on that's pretty neat um we're gonna pretend that the rear main seal isn't bad I feel like this is just all the planers that you put up top you know yeah just kind of it just went down here and then uh yeah yeah that's it's good it's clearly new it hasn't been happening no for many years and then coating the whole well it's uh it's a rust proofing so that's good ground strap looks great bushings are rotten and almost non-existent so we'll pretend we didn't see any of that uh steering boxes there yeah it's there you can steal the car air pump I'm assuming to run the uh tanks for the doors for the doors [Laughter] wait so what so if you lose the belt and your tanks go empty how do you get out you don't okay you have to call for help what is this headlight actuators probably I don't know it's really good I'm liking all of this but where we're turning our attention to is this fuel tank right here that's already been worked on and the hose has been replaced before we're going to pop that hose off and blow air this way and make sure that this fuel line which is traveling wire uh does it go through the vehicle uh it might go through the vehicle it does because safety yeah okay so if that line is clear then we know for sure the pickup tube up in there is plugged and then the decision needs to be made drop this tank and spend three hours cleaning it and then reassemble and probably weld a new tube into the pickup tube and put all this together and then leave tomorrow or buy a 119 boat tank down the street just go all the way just go all the way and I'll make it night we you know we should make this nice do you have another Nissan Maxima fuel tank laying around I do yeah you know I I actually do um I got a I got a tank from a Dodge Charger I think here we go yeah we can make it work I mean this is just all thread basically and some homemade straps we can make it happen this is a good car I mean they were quality made yeah but I think that's a missing bolt or something oh no I've return it and there she goes look at that we could probably put some air through there okay oh I tied that up on my headlight before we put it on the lift no I probably can't reach it oh it's tight tight okay finding out a couple things here one your mouth makes wind so I put the hose up front we got wind in the back so the line is not restricted at all so it is in fact you know a guy's been around the block and back gonna cut down the alley and came back the other way jumped a few fences and been through every yard so I knew that was going to be the issue however I'm going to try to manipulate and remove the sending unit pickup tube sock whilst in the vehicle and then try to fix it or repair it and then put it back in and avoid having to drop the tank which probably would include cutting the muffler out which is actually sounding pretty awesome maybe I just take the tank out then I don't know we'll try this other way first so working this ring off now theoretically this should come out of here [Music] and now that we put in 37 gallons of fuel hopefully that dumps all over the floor you know I need that she's kind of stuck in there [Music] yeah unfortunately that doesn't mean good news for the tank if that's stuck in there just got her out that seal is busted but we'll pretend it's not the floaty well could float we'll own this out but here is the problem plugged completely solid great but it's not rotted off so you've got like a supersonic abrasive this Parts yeah we got a parts washer we can we can wash the parts yeah sweet so we don't have to hit this with a hammer Fellers nope there's science I mean maybe because we're just uh feeding some brake Rejuvenation spray through both sides trying to soften up the it's plugged like right here-ish it's kind of hard to get to but we're picking at it and that's all the gunk coming out of it hopefully it's not plugged up like right here because that's going to be a problem yes we get it soft enough we might be able to even hit it with air and just see it goes shooting through but the good news is we don't have to recreate this tube and re-weld it and all that stuff after we run it through the parts cleaner and get the float and everything clean we'll test this make sure it still floats doesn't have a hole in it or anything like that then we'll ohm out this mechanism here there's going to be a slider with a little tab and that's what runs your fuel gauge so we can test that and or repair it before we put it back in because muzzle it's right here are you done yet nope all right go ahead little maybe that's it seems like there might should be more still something that's okay at least we're making them Headway all right there that's some flow fixed let's let's see if uh this goes this way oh yeah let me wash my hands that's enough to get you home right oh yeah it's like we were saying cannot run the 10 mile an hour bumpers so oh now now I can put this all away oh there we go let's make sure I I lose this inside all right so this float is not going to float so we've got a pinhole leak right there and that's where all that crud was on this for years the ends of the barrels that always happens that's original from manufacturing that spot there but I'm gonna try to clean this and solder it up what you have to be careful is not to get too much solder that you make it heavier because then your gauge is gonna sink more than it floats and you're you know it's going to be off is what I'm saying but we'll give her a go and see most likely not going to work but it's worth a shot but at least the Restriction is gone it's a good thing we use that very flammable brake clean yeah helps when welding yeah yeah sake there we go guys got this digital meter we're going to be testing the sending unit I have no idea what Ohms the unit is supposed to be what we're looking for on the meter is a swing like GM is 0 to 90 for example so I'm going to take a reading here we're about halfway so 29 I'm going to swing it down to the bottom [Music] 18 go all the way the other way come on come on 63. so it's doing stuff I don't know if it matches the fuel gauge but it's not completely dead so maybe we'll have some sort of indication of where our fuel level is at now since the O-ring is shot on the sending unit I think I can only get about eight gallons of fuel in there before it starts dumping out of the front of the tank so when we fill it we're going to know we're about halfway when fuel starts dumping all over the ground at the gas station so that's pretty neat and then we'll just do the math magicianals on the MPGs to the mile even though we have no idea if the transmission or the rear end or the drive shaft work and still have a cooling system or belts or pulleys or hoses good I think there was still some gas in there foreign well good news is we could see the pinholes there's a lot of them apparently there's one on the other side as well oh yeah one two three whole bunch of them great let this cool off for a minute and get it reassembled no air bubbles and it's floating it's not taking on any water so it's good to go okay we are completely reinstalled it's gonna leak like mad but like I say we get at least half a tank and then all the g-force from acceleration is going to push the fuel back anyway so maybe we'll be okay nope it's getting ready to plug this in this is a new chunk of Hose from the tank and I noticed this was a little kitty Wampus see how the fuel pump is away from the block so someone started trying to diagnose the fuel issue previously and must have figured the pump was bad and maybe even replaced this because that looks you know something is different here but they didn't get it all the way tightened down so I'm going to do that quick and then get this plugged in and then we'll see if we can pull fuel up to the carp fuel pump later is in this was finger tight as well but all taunt we're going to bring the car down and see if we can pull some fuel so it is likely very that when I crank this thing over Phil's going to shoot out of here so I actually disconnected the lightning can so it wouldn't run so I'm just going to twist on it Freddie's going to watch for me when that starts spewing fuel then we're fixed by the way I pulled on this there's the window okay still nothing nothing oh that's not good doing something okay all right we're good sweet just took a minute you get zapped no no no varnish so sweet that's uh perfect that's good you know the Brooklyn starting to fight back on a guy I wanted to run a filter on it and be nice so I put this in here and it just I was pushing the rubber line on it snap right off never seen this in my life so now I gotta find an easy out or something and uh try to get that out of there and hopefully the casting on the field make it happen or isn't bad because then things are really going to get interesting oh yeah it's going to come out thankfully there it comes 37 months later I found one of these in town got that installed so everything should be set now to pull its own fuel so I'm going to crank on this get it fired up again and see if it'll [Applause] huh foreign [Music] really likes the gas [Music] all right you [Music] come on come on there we go maybe there I can pull the deal all right yes [Music] sounds pretty good [Music] ah it's not even smoking or nothing not even smoking gosh she's really starting to cook stuff off up here I'm gonna quick check the blood stick on her see how many gallons well we are oh yeah I like all of it I'm gonna shut it down before it gets too hot don't add if between the arrows checkpoint idling okay I'm I'm doing that since the guy is getting so far into the rig here I figured might as well rebuild the transmission right here we got the tools and what I mean by that is I'm just gonna dump this in there really stops the slips and cleans and makes new clutches so yeah we'll put this in there I was going to jump in quick and see if it moved and then I remembered the doors don't open so I think we might just go straight to cooling because I'll show you in a second that's going to be until tomorrow project so back to this nightmare we need a radiator in here that has an outlet you know the bottom hose is over here and the top is up here somewhere that's going this way so that was the situation but it may be resolved by resolving the charging roller issue at the same time I don't have any bracketry for this case her style unit and I do have some bracketry but it doesn't match this water pump however the water pump that came with the other bracketry for the different charging motor that's different than this one and that also changes the outlet to go to this side for this yeah got it yeah I got that okay so this needs changed different bracket different charging world the rad and I'm baby this will line up probably different pulley so great well I was making progress over here and then I promptly snapped the alternator in half so Freddie is professionally rebuilding that there's a lot of words happening over here so it's this is generally what you want right here this this nice crack yeah so uh no idea how I want to put that back together but using some brake clean yeah that's good that should work and then what I'm working on over here is the water pump pulley hits the old crank pulley this is the crank pulley for the boat setup that goes on the bottom the issue is Trace Quattro so what I plan to do is get these lined up I don't know we'll figure that out and I'm going to use a press and drill more holes into the boat crank set up that way we have a water pump pulley again they don't Collide or meet and then all of the belt grooves should theoretically line up to the alternator that is never going back together again but at minimum we'll have a water whirler laughs well here's where we're at the boat pulley has been modified for the Ford engine in the brickland but the boat crank pulley sticks out too far in comparison to the boat water pump pulley on the boat water pump on the Ford engine so they're like this now because the cranks are different from the Mercruiser to the Windsor apparently um anyway we seem to have hit quite a few roadblocks so we're going to fire it up again and now we're going to see what the brake pedal does and if we got a shift machine because if those are nay and nope then we're really you know we're in a corner is what I'm saying so let's fire it up and see if we can run off and crash into a McLaren that's great [Laughter] oh this is terrible you know I think we might just have to take these doors off I can because look at my head oh go down no like I'm on the floor but oh yeah brake pedal it does oh well you know you know it would be good um a uh battery terminal oh okay this has rear defrog yeah I think they spelled it wrong the gauges are like Toys R Us they're so bad speedometer says 160. oh God waiting for this 150 pound door to end my life oh the bolts in the steering wheel are sheared off great my ribs are getting cramped somehow something something just what I mean man I really wanted to drive this and listen to some like eight tracks or cassette tapes the upholstery is very astute I think it's Sharp you can tell businessmen drove these and they're crooked Toys R Us cages laughs so if I hold this up there we go can you see that now hold on my ribs okay oh let me tell you that that's comfortable so they're they're at the exact wrong angle and The Thunder Rolls strikes I got lights all right that's good enough yep okay hold on hold on wait oh this is this is gonna be fun I may actually be stuck there's a laughing crap you more I can't get it it doesn't go down anymore it doesn't go down oh that's the wrong way oh my God I need either the jaws of life or a lot of Crisco I would push but I don't know if it would make it worse oh my God okay well thanks for the battery service yeah it's good it's good you know I'll I might just stay in here uh for the supervision you know I think we're good all right huh it's good oh I can see all these are so safe I know right so I if you need to get out of this car let me just that's gonna be a good experience I think I'm just gonna have to go through the hatch right oh that was unpleasant all right here we go it fires right up and then barely runs the tack works oh wow all right ready yep reverse oh yeah oh yeah new trolls Drive oh that's wow that's powerful yeah it's got a strong transmission it did have a strong transmission what is that noise laughs I think it's low on fluid yeah yeah but the brakes work because it's holding it oh the brakes work yeah nice so I have brakes and a transmission yes so a guy's been chatting online he's got a 78 Bronco I think he was selling the engine and transmission I tried to buy just the accessorize but it turns out the guy is selling the rig it's not his it's his uncle's nephew's kid that's out of town that's parked at his trailer or whatever so we're not getting very far with that so we're gonna have to try to Mickey Mouse House MacGyver Hillbillies show this up a little bit but I think we have a plan we did some engineering here check this out so the problem we're having here is the pulley diameters are not correct they don't collide with each other but you can see their offset significantly because the crank do dabbies on the power Twister on the bottom is different however we got about a quarter inch here so I'm going to space this out with Hardware until it wobbles really bad I've already drilled this out four holes there and that was easy I just put the other one on top of this slid a sparkle later through one of them eyeballed it slammed them with a punch and drilled that out so sure then I'm going to take this bracket Tri back off and whatever we end up spacing this out say it's three washers you know or numbers on like a ruler stick we'll do that same numbers on this one for this so we'll try to you know basically the same thing we had to do on Independence for four years the police and then we'll be good in theory Freddy's is that the steering wheel thing already I don't know he's uh working on a steering wheel a little bit wow that came out fast yep I think we can I think they tried to put some epoxy or something because they didn't have the right Hardware this seems like it's metric I'm gonna put some new Hardware in and then look what I found no way porn you know how much that's worth some money like 80 cents man that's that's that's money dude uh that's how it works yeah I'm not gonna have power steering and I figured I'd share those two little bolts off so he's gonna fix that and then I gotta convince him to put that charging wheeler back together we have a plan B there too which is yeah we'll just turn it into an Eevee [Music] well Freddie and I have been hard at it it's very late actually at the moment we got a lot to catch up on but we're going to do it in the morning but basically we're down to transmission cooling lines a digital fan trans cooler get to charge them where they're back in that Freddie completely rebuilt and then like 14 trips the parts store to figure out belts stuff like that put the hood on and then panic pretty much 700 miles so we'll see it bright and early tomorrow morning we'll get you caught up on this and we got to get right to Renton oh I put my cold snacks no way up in the trunk great well good morning 70 11. early nine o'clock hey I thought they only had them hurricanes down here in the Florida area but woke up to a tornado warning severe thunderstorm wind rain that's fine at least I own the safest vehicle ever made so if stuff goes down I'm just gonna jump in the car I'll never be able to get out but I'll be safe I gotta be honest with you I haven't been this far behind on a project in it's been years I should have been home by now I've got a flight tomorrow might have to move it but this is our list to get done it's quite a bit but we're just going to jump in get through this thing hopefully the storm will blow over got to get a test drive in and determine what I'm going to do here to single even make it 700 miles and if we do take off for that 700 miles that foot is just through the firewall which shouldn't be that hard because it's cracking fiberglass feet are the onions the entire way we might even have to drive through the night first like I promised I'm going to catch you up on what we got finished up last night so a guy took the charge and whirler out well and just a lot of other stuff had to make some room in here took out some of those hoses and things got the rad set in now this is not even for this vehicle I'm not even sure what it's for if I set it in the rad provision where the old one was this sits up like here and well we ain't getting a hood on it so I had the recesser down in there I'll show you a little bit more on that in a bit it's not good this is all custom here this is a bracket that I took off that was over there somewhere I had to take off our bracketry there for the charging roller to fit I had to put this on here with some custom machined mounts here to keep this curvature so it wouldn't Kink off did get a lower rod hose in there of course that goes under in and in between the steering components so depending on what angle you're turning the vehicle you pinch off the lower rod hose that's fine most of the driving I'm doing is straight okay today we got to get the charging wheeler on we've got to get belts figured out digital fan transmission cooler all of that stuff we haven't even ran this long enough to know if it overheats or the head gaskets are good or what's going on we know the rear main is already blown out how bad I don't know got to get this to where we can let it run for 15-20 minutes here idling and then we can determine all of that situation let's see everything's fine I'm going to lower it back down try to mount in this charger where they're start figuring out a belt for that I may just wait to run to the parts store yet because I'm probably going to need some more stuff and I'm sure the belt that I got that goes to a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang doesn't fit the now boat motor accessorized Ford motor in a Brooklyn situation finding parts for this is really fun you know what kind of belt you need well it's for a Mercruiser hooked to a V8 Ford in a Brooklyn that's white okay so lower this down tried to wear the belt all right let's get going okay trying to make all this different bracketry work it's been something else charging I mean just doesn't work guy can always just throw five batteries in the trunk and run them you know yeah see this thing that's not even close does this go on the bottom I know sometimes they go below I wonder if it was like this aha Maybe I don't I don't even really care at this juncture just as long as the belt whirls are on this thing even if it doesn't charge can a guy get the water pump moving maybe that's the new goal for today well for crying in the mud there we go well I'll be dipped that went on 7405 that's the ball I guess and all that shimming and everything we did was for this reason see that belt looks pretty good even though we're on the inside of the crank and the outside of the water pump because this one shimmed out and that's shimmed out it looks pretty good and at minimum we're gonna have water pump engagement now for Super Lucky that's going to shoot Sparkles to the battery great speaking of cooling onto the fan I got one Point Blank not a very good movie but in this situation it's circumstantial I don't have a mechanical fan now could I go get a flexo light do dabby and figure out a space here and then figure out how to get the nuts out of the space here with the spacers that I have behind the pulley to go to the water pump with the right thread to hold everything in place plus get the mechanical fan Maybe but that pulley is Hub Centric and if we put some you know tort Shear pressure torsion look I don't want to confuse you I don't know what I'm saying let's just be honest it's not good for it so I'm going to do this okay and this just Boop and then with electricity the downside is going to be pulling more juices and I don't know if we're going to be charging juices but I think this is going to be the way to go quite honestly and I don't have a shroud either so a mechanical fan isn't going to be very effective you know when we're cruising Miami Beach no that's the wrong that's the wrong direction I gotta go the other way okay now I gotta figure out how to put this together this is a situation under the rig so yeah it's kind of snuck through here but I think that'll be just fine there's one bolt in it up there that I drilled through the existing rad support So inside this box is where the original one's at and again if I tried to set this in here the cap was eight feet above the hood so now it's just wedged in between the steering gearbox and that one bolt and the frame over here that should be fine I got to cut these I might even cut them back here and then I gotta swoop these into the trans cooler I did buy an external cooler but to just simplify things I'm going to try to just run it right out of here and then we'll shoot the fan wiring off over there that's all buckled in had the kicker off to the side just a little bit because things are good and they're getting tight up there the rear main leak leaks enough that it actually put oil on the floor so this is a huge huge concern huge hugely concern especially with 700 miles to go but still going to pretend I didn't see that ah well I was just going to run some rubber line Twix the two and be done but they don't uh seat right in there and flop around so like I was saying a minute ago we'll go ahead and put that trans cooler in that I have up here might as well be way more efficient you know and then we'll just run these lines to it I'm just using a mini pipe cutter here to snag these lines off quick and easy normally I'd flare these I don't know if he's got an old school brake flare tool kit or not I'm not going to dig so we'll just put 17 hose clamps on them and I hope that that does the job it won't okay actually I wonder if a guy just use the belt end of what's there let's take a look at what we got wines would be way too long but that's what zip ties are for you just ball it up zip tie it out of the way you know because if it works it's really a dumb idea there we go yeah okay love that smell so good no terrible what is this hose clamp doing just pulled the Jack screw right out of the thing I am temporarily permanently fixing these lines to the vehicle I poked a hole through this air scoop thing which I don't know what he is going to say is worth 19 million dollars but I just need to get home so here we are you know this one's gonna go like this to the lower rod hose so when that leaks I have to pick that all apart this one let's tie it to the sway bar there you go and then we'll keep the Lions out of the boat crank there looking pretty good oh no where'd my Leatherman go time to panic everybody stop what you're doing look for my Leatherman oh there's no one here I guess I gotta go look for it all right guys got that you know professionally installed and then two holder uppers just on the left side and then decided to put in a field tray well because of that that's just from what was flowing in already so we don't want to plug the one up on the fuel make it happener because that took me four stores and two hours to find so that's good we can swap those out though pretty easily wow look at those big chunks in there already okay so I think we're buttoned up down here wait okay now we are so let's bring it down and get to wiring okay on his digital fans now you guys have seen me do this I don't know 217 times we need keyed power we need hot power and we're going to need some sort of switch and then we got the outs to the fan and then we're just going to ground the fan probably to the engine which I don't even know how that's grounded through fiberglass stuff like that but apparently it is because the starter works so I think I'm going to mount it all over here on this firewall area because it's already just with wires and stuff like that so it doesn't really matter is what I'm saying I got a different switch this time instead of trying to blop something in the block the guy gave me like a probe thingy I'll show you after you do enough of these you'll learn to not worry about all this mess they're always going to be different colors and setups and stuff like that but it all uses the same fuse so essentially it's the same thing every time so on this one red would be in orange or blue would be found we'll go with orange because it has a fuse in it 87 so then Brown would be our switch I mean that's pretty much it and then of course chassis ground so this would just be a ground Mount that on the side plug it into the fan this is that probe so this just jams through your rad yeah really and it's a temperature sensing probe it's probably 185 I don't know if it's uh labeled anywhere but once it hits that temperature this is an ano switch or normally open this will close complete the circuitry Bingo fan kicks on now lucky for me I was rooting around in here and I found this thing and it was a fused link so it had power going through it at one point this guy right here and all be dipped so I don't even need to run my direct battery I'll just connect this to my red right here which is my fusible link and power supply zip tie that to something down here maybe I could find a self Tapper and get this wired in super quick I got updates I okay anyhoose got the power in got the ground up to the engine there I gotta tidy this up a little bit it's almost ready for that SEMA show you know I cut into the never spark box again because I realized instead of running a wire all the way up to the fuse panel to get 12 volt switched there had to have been 12 volts switched here to that which is usually this blue wire and I tested it with the digital meter and sure enough whoops save on them batteries and now I could jump test this because this would normally go here let's see it's not going to do anything until this gets the temperature and closes the switch but if I drop it over here which goes to the relay we got fanage so now I just need to put an end on this stick it over here I know everything else is going to work as long as that temperature switch works then we'll be fine sand is pretty much done I'm going to wad all this up like this and just hit her with a zip tie you know what I mean the brickland is just fighting me notice a bunch of oil sitting in here this morning well I thought it was gasoline so I just ignored it you know that's fine then I started dabbing it and tasting it and well this is weird it doesn't taste like motor oil it doesn't taste like gas doesn't taste like water it kind of tastes like hydraulic oil in a weird way then I remembered the coil and I spun it around into some hairline cracks in here and I believe this is leaking out into the manifold so I'm going to take my meter down to the parts store try to find a 12 volt coil that's between 1.5 and 2.5 which the flamethrower needs to make the lightning pick another one of them up and swap it now and save us from doing it on the side of the road being optimistic we're pulling out of here today so here's where we are and where we was at in the past the charging where I wasn't charging so I said hey Freddy I'm going to switch these wires around quick because what's you know what's the worst that could happen it wouldn't charge again there was sizzling noises and there was a couple zaps it wasn't there yeah there was some pretty good zaps then I didn't have power where a guy had power previously and the grounds were Now power that were grounds and I the meter wasn't beeping anymore there's bad stuff long story short I have melted down the flamethrower with other flames and wires apparently so we're tearing all of that stuff out that I did and unwiring all the wiring and rewiring back the old bad wiring and then hoping that this works that was untested and barely rotates and then wiring in a different coil that's not for the coil adapter and then if that works it might run again but it still doesn't charge and I leave tonight and I have 12 hours to do a nine hour drive great new ignition coil is in all right Freddie bring the Thunder okay fire in the hole there we go yes it runs yeah keep going crank tester on one of the filters yeah it's over there that's 37 right now huh pretty much okay the old ignition is now the new ignition and it's slightly working definitely ran better on the flame shooter system however Freddie put some pressure in the cooling system in it leaked so surprise the old gasket stacked on top of the other old gasket that I smeared with room temperature vulcanization cream is definitely leaking so the water pump is coming off again and we're going to put that gasket in that we just drove an hour to get and then we'll wait for the next thing to to break I guess what are you what do you think is going to be next wait you were supposed to leave T minus uh 18 hours ago uh yeah I think closer to 20. yeah so everything's fine yeah stand this down make it shine [Laughter] well the gasket actually looked really good and this service didn't look that bad either and I hit it with a wire brush before I put it on but we're getting see it's a really good Ford engineering thing once again how there's no bolt provisions along the bottom and this is where we were getting that pressure leak so cheek poker clean new gasket more goop good okay we pressurize the system and we pulled vacuum it's full circulating gonna let it sit here and warm up a little bit I think I got a vacuum leak or something running rough rougher than it was Freddie just found a vacuum leak whoa in the future wow you're gonna turn them off oh yeah I mean she has a lazy eye well I think it's due to the weight reduction see on this one this is good wow does the temp gauge work I haven't even looked yet [Music] oh wait for this there it goes just kicked on [Music] so fan does work set the timing it's running a little bit rougher but we also have less than 12 volts we know for sure on that battery [Music] just making sure it stays cool got a fuel leak on there I got to address I already kicked off again no [Music] well is it is it staying the same uh it's it's at 210 now that ain't good I might have to move that probe Maybe test one failed fan is not running thank you you may have uh yeah I can hear the relay clicking so then we lost power source all right well better to do it here than on a highway make it some progress here so tested the switch switch is okay test is a 12 volt switch that's fine went through this check the ground the wire that I was using for the 12 volt positive went over here and uh yeah that's a pressure control switch like you'd see on an air compressor and then found a electric pump under the headlight and that's what this pressure gauge is so there's some sort of relay in here so it was only temporary power ignore the fuel leaking in about to ignite going through this wire that's the longest we ran it and then there's something in here that happened so I grabbed this wire which was feeding it off of the lug going to the voltage regulator which would be straight from the bat so now we can just Boop put these two together searching for a wire nut or duct tape or something make that temporary permanent then we should have fan again and we can do our second test run and just see if it'll hang in there hold the head gaskets things like that and it is once again dark outside maiden voyage time if you think it might be charging a little bit it's kind of staying cool that's not wired hot hear that all the time so dog all right fire extinguisher see if we can make it to the gas station return [Music] watch your head you know this feels like the zipper the carnival ride easy clothes it's a luxury thing yep that's good in case I gotta get out yeah [Music] that's fine you ignore that yeah it breaks oh excellent it just doesn't run good [Music] it's got breaks for days yeah yes we can stay on oh that was the drive shop leaving go straight yeah [Laughter] [Music] huh [Music] first burnout [Music] later oh look at that headlights on that I can't see nothing weird in this I got some slouching too I got every light on the dash is on man it's shaking all right you want to meet me over there how's it how's it look pretty good it looks good you hear that V6 I mean that's six and a half cylinders yeah well it's the active fuel management oh that we're running on this is that the 246 system something like that I wonder if it would do a burnout [Laughter] [Music] foreign oh man this is gonna be a trip [Music] boy it does not run good it does not run good at all why do you get the high beams on is there a switch for that start no I can't see nothing I know you guys can either so uh I'm gonna focus on the road and maybe we'll see you at the gas station oh this will be interesting made it to the fuel station that's great but now I got to try to get out of here [Music] oh I think if I use my leg well I don't have that stick do I okay how do I I don't think I can get out of here wedge this in here well I got there's probably eight gallons in it I remember that front seal on the tank was kind of not good so I don't want to fill fill it and dump fuel like we had on the Chevelle a while back so we're gonna go here for now we got to start somewhere so that's decently goodish it's lean popping carb needs to be gone through but maybe we can get down the road normally these just leak really bad but this one isn't it but you just got a kind of two foot it baby it around stayed cool on the way to the fuel station let's see if we can make it back to Freddy shop and then figure out what the next step is well do you join as non-serviceable but we soaked her down the stuff that is definitely going to explode probably somewhere on a toll road and then the good news the rear end is full uh the even better news is it's full of water so he's got this thing here we're going to try to suck and lay it out and push some new stuff in well yet again good morning just dropped off my rental here fixing to get a ride back to the shop and the brickland late last night took a test drive to the fuel station so I have successfully put about one mile on the rig and that is it I've decided just going to hit the road today I'm out of time should already been home but a guy is I haven't been this concerned in a very long time there are a lot of systems untested I have no idea if the transmission works at speed I have no idea if it's going to keep cool on the highway at the rear end noise and drive shaft noise definitely isn't fixed and I have no charging system at all I got a plan for that though so gonna get a ride back fire this thing out it starts this morning throwing the luggage in we just gotta hit the highway got 700 miles to go gotta start getting that way well later back loaded up it is tight in here I'm gonna have to like oh already slouching so I should have took the door off here's the charging system heavy air quotes on charging and system I'm just going to hook jumper cables the end of the battery going down the road once you get slow and I got three of them we'll see how you know how that does okay cold start hopefully start I guess oh yeah [Music] foreign [Music] about 30 miles man that's good started creeping up towards 210 so pulled off the interstate then of course got stopped at the light there texture gauge must be off but gonna have to figure this out gonna be a very long three months getting home otherwise plenty of good news though I accidentally feel the pain I wasn't really trying to do that because that gasket is non-existent somehow that healed itself so we have a full fuel tank with unknown capacity so I can kind of figure out my life is there electric fan still electric fan so now I gotta figure out how to keep this thing cool can't strap the hood to the roof on account of struggling to get out maybe it was just uh low on water no that's what we're gonna say for now I'm gonna go and get a few jugs cool it down pop it off again if I can get it open right now it's taped shot there's two bolts holding the front end that's fine I don't know who this arts and guy is but a lot of business model he just bottling up water and selling it well I got a box of goodies here I got some things I want to do before we hit the road I think most importantly is wiring this power socket you know this hyper car doesn't even have a cigar lighter I think we're definitely going to need a cellular device to call for a tow truck or help some way shape or another also the map system is handy so we'll wire that into the battery and then I got some try to keep it cool juice and I think we're probably going to take the hood off and stuff but first bratwurst just wrapping this around each bolt on the battery there you know Direct Connect and I got some extra wire because you never know all right you know the Hood's off again that's going to reside back here I just got to get some rags put underneath that or maybe flip it around the other way strap it down what did I do here oh I put some snake juice in the rad topped her off again this is custom bracket this is getting more flexy in the other custom bracket oh it's collapsing right here so this will give her a little bit more shape for some flow you know great design on these cars see that's all that wind in here you know for the the rad no terrible I don't see any other leaks other than that big one there in the the rear main seal transmission seal the fuel leak so everything else is fine I'm gonna go get a bite to eat he's actually making me some cheeseburgers and the nice guy here at O'Reilly said hey I'm going to the hub down the road I'll uh just go over there and pick those parts up for you see I ordered a Ford Duro spark ignition module they're really reliable but always carry one or two in the glove box because they're not reliable that's why I call them never Sparks I also picked up a trying to keep the trash to a minimum around here also picked up a uh rebuild kit for the don't make it happener it's starting to get pretty unhappy oh I should check the fuel filter quick too that'll definitely need changed on the next stop yeah see that's all done and then I picked one of these up now I got active volt management see right on the Fly I could just lean over and flip my gauge arm know where I'm at when I need to juice in another cell that's gotta throw some Burma in there a little bit you know this will rebuild the card for me hopefully anyway break some sediment free keep the combustion chamber nice and clean clean up them spark lighters we didn't put in you know all that stuff I'm going two per tank very spicy well sure that won't work it's like the Johnny Cash song it said I have one piece at a time it's 32 miles at a time I guess so I don't know let's see if we can go 40 this time 48 already 12 30 in the afternoon so it's going to be tomorrow morning yeah if we even make it home anyway enough to happen let's get on the highway [Music] foreign [Music] but as you can see from the window it's boiling over I think this man I've tried every speed we're only doing about 50 right now uh just over 2 000 RPM uh I have a feeling that block is just full of the same rust of Gunk week scraped out of the water pump [Music] oh boy riding the shoulder it's uh it's missing really bad backfiring good news is it's cooling down well if it's only running oh Totally Running on two maybe three trying to hit this exit up here and hopefully not pick up a bunch of screws in the tire how would it be good boy the sun came out though really warming up it's kind of cold this morning at least on the side of the road I'm in the safest vehicle made no thank you foreign well my idea is not working well this might be it colors I thought it would be just like jumping a car but Bang Bang I got updates I called every scrap yard within 50 miles which it seems to be the car's limit finally won 351 Windsor and the guy doesn't want to part with it it's locked up but it's still good he wants to sell it with the van goparts anywhere for the alternator I called every Boat Company you could think of in the entire State of Florida the soonest I can get it it's next Thursday um kind of running out of options I did the math again because I went through this took the amp straw of the fan about an amp per thousand RPM for the dura spark so call that two and a half ran the numbers I should have 22 hours of battery should have plenty of battery something's wrong the electrical on this thing I don't know but even if we had an alternator and charging system I can't keep it cool I just can't I think the Block's just absolutely full of roughs um kind of running out of options I got to try to get it off the side of the highway [Music] before uh policeman shows up close the thing uh because well it ain't got no title and those aren't my plates so see if uh my battery charger also known as a series of batteries how's this thing enough for you at least get it to the exit which is like a mile we're moving it's kind of a Jeep feeling you know but also certain death if that falls but anyway we're getting to this exit good news is there's a Tavern right on the corner guys can figure some stuff out you know Well turns out that Tavern is not my type of establishment I will skip that one they've cleaned the windshield re-round my mouth again found the actual model number of the fan it is a little bit higher that's running wide open remember trying to keep this thing cool and it's pulling it's not pushing or anything like that it's definitely circulating but anyway 2.28 hours per battery not going to be enough hours for the three batteries that I have but I could stop get more which is really expensive or maybe find somewhere to plug my charger in biggest issue is the cooling but confident I got enough battery now to at least try to run down a few more exits and see what happens I'm gonna find a pose somewhere it's AC line or something they may have cut that up and use it as a rad overflow and get that below the car so at least when it overheats it doesn't you know remove my vision okay plan keep moving forward okay clear I was hanging off of that thing with like the jar lid I think it was supposed to be windshield washer no because that was this well anyway I don't know what it was I just yeah snagged it onto here now that'll flap in front of the rad and plug that up okay looks fine ready ready for the road [Music] well guy got to thinking here I'm gonna hit a bear with nine stones uh I'm gonna go ahead and put a flex fan on here if I could find one in town not been easy sound like a 42 inch no cut fenders off the car uh I need a 16 I believe then I gotta find the right spacer get it as close to the rod as I can because I ain't got some shroud shroud doesn't really mean much when I'm on the interstate anyway but maybe we'll get more wind the CF and the M's measurement through the rad that way and I could drop 20 amp draw on my charging system that doesn't exist so we'll definitely help our batteries maybe help overheating nope but let's be optimistic if this doesn't work we're running right out of options okay I gotta shoot across town to the other store they're supposed to have a 16 inch Cobble some stuff together then it's get to work time you know the other advantage of dropping this fan is a seven inch sealed beam pulls between 1.5 and 2 amps give or take call it two so it's four my math magicianals is right and then a couple tail lights a side markers so we're probably like six to seven amp draw running at night well that's still less than half of the fan most likely or call it half on the best side so will be in a much better position guys got gyps and tips on the old Chevrolet we'll be in a much better position running at night which we're going to have to because it's already like 2 30. yeah we've only made it to Gainesville so that's fine okay guys charge Leighton my charging system I got the digital fan off and this is going to be the setup here I got the fan with the most aggressive pitch that I could I mean this is all of it you can't get more aggressive than that so the cfms are going to be up there now as far as clearance I think that might hit the how was that getting by there there's probably a sixteenth of an inch between the steering gear box and the blade I mean I meant uh about to do that now I just got to get some washers we need to take a little bit of space edge out because we need to have see all this adapter Rooney you know part number 516b has this little Hub that's because this fan is Hub Centric otherwise it's going to Waller and just go shooting off we need to have this sticking out a little bit and with these in place it's pretty much flush see here no bueno so I gotta go get a couple washers space this up that should be perfect guys got her back in the grass here I'm gonna try to flush out some of this mud water oh yeah that's oh it's fun let her eat until that shows cool water essentially I wonder I wonder if this is gonna help it should if anything it'll prevent the look in there this needs flushed up too there's just mud in here oh just testing it right now because the belt angle was so bad but this moves considerably more air in fact it pulls the radiator back so that might well it will definitely help belt seems to be staying on oh I gotta be careful there not almost ate around well I think well we'll address this moving by just some zip ties up to the hood hinge Maybe like this and maybe bend that that's getting a little bit close my abatement program went well so all of the mud is out of the system now so maybe we'll have this overheating licked Drew is uh cleaning her up you know we got to get the detail yeah you're going to a car show tonight right yeah of course this I think might work it's topped off bought an old lid from the attic so it doesn't suck in the mud water it wasn't chewing on that very good I believe it's circulating fish so let's see how far we get well basically a test drive here back to O'Reilly's got to pick up some belts because the alignment now is just atrocious but Gage never even came off of 120 and that's in town it's I know it's warmer than that we're gonna find out on the highway but very good news it's at least 20 30 degrees cooler than it normally is and my battery system is doing very it's stable I'm looking at my inline meter over here uh because of all we're drawing now is going to be about two two and a half amps for the never spark system until dark so we got to get as many miles under our belt as we can right now [Music] foreign [Music] well we didn't make it far and it is very very hot I don't want to push it any more than that it's going to ruin the engine can't keep it cool yeah she's just not wanting to stay cool boiling all the water out of it man well at this rate it's going to take a guy three and a half four months to get home that's fine no I just don't think the old guys got it in it to be honest without quite a bit more work I've been doing this for I don't know 20 plus years now fellas I can count on one hand the amount of times that a guy's throwing in the towel and I think I'm gonna add to that this time I've got a day scheduled with my son built a go-kart tomorrow and I'm not gonna miss it so I'm gonna grab a U-Haul truck and that auto transport right there and just pulled this thing home did make it 185 miles still going to call this a win after 40 years the Brooklyn did run and drive it just didn't have 700 miles left in it but we could get it home and do something with it now so comment below what you want to see with this thing just keep in mind parts are a little bit hard to find but interested to hear what you have to say as always thanks for watching appreciate it very much we'll see you next time [Music] foreign [Music]
