Loved the Breakfast Club homage!
They really made some great television out of a very difficult situation and dark times. Thank you Stephen and Late Show team for keeping many of us sane through laughter.
The Colbert Questionert is freaking BRILLIANT and gets better the more you watch. The comparison is really striking between different people, and they can get some fantastic responses (who knew how simple Ringo’s taste in sandwiches is?).
The split-screen is uniquely well-suited to this, I think, because the audience ‘gets in the way’ less, which lends it intimacy and honesty. I don’t know if you could get away with it in front of an audience because of the impetus to ‘entertain’ (conscious or not). I could be wrong, but there’s an almost therapeutic element to it, and most importantly, Stephen presents a judgement-free zone for responses. That’s the real difference-maker. And you know Stephen is sincere about it.
In conclusion: I think the Show should consider continuing the existing format for the Questionert.
