okay hi guys welcome back to my channel so today huh it's gonna be a day it is going to be a book haul day you can't see it but let me insert a clip right here of what i am looking at because yay so um what do i have to say for myself my bad yeah this is this is going to be a big book haul so if you want to go crap coffee a tea a water you probably need to hydrate in the middle of it i know i will this is gonna be a minute um i would go do that and just preface i'm filming on my nice camera now so we've got the sound we've got whatever i can do with the lighting in post but this battery may not last and i have not yet bought a second battery for filming this long a video because my sit-down videos typically are not this long but if the quality switch is halfway through i'm sorry it is what it is i do have two batteries for my vlogging camera so that might be what that might be what happens but let's just get on into this haul because we don't want to waste any camera battery i'm talking about camera batteries you know so i did have this split up into genre uh but then all the books fell in the middle of the night because i needed to force myself to film this because it is so long and i knew that like i love filming book hauls but i um hate filming book hauls because they take so long but i set up like the fort which you saw on the thumbnail and i put that in the middle of my book room so that i would actually film it and look it's working it's great it's now moved over to here but it fell in the middle of the night because gravity is in the house so it is not separated by a genre or age category anymore unfortunately although that doesn't really matter for anything but time stamps so let's just let's get into it so the first one i have is actually one that i've read recently and it is definitely a favorite i think it's my favorite middle grade ever it beat out nevermore for that spot and that is amari and the knight brothers this book y'all it is literally like a boarding school men in black mashup it's just perfection so our main character amari she has an older brother who has gone missing and she's kind of trying to figure that out figure out what's going on with that and in that type of investigation she actually finds a suitcase that was left to her from him and she finds out that he is part of this secret world that she's never heard of so she goes to this school and at the school you get to kind of pledge which route you would like to go as far as jobs are concerned and they all have to do with preserving the separation of this magical world and the real world that we know and so she chooses hers which is following in her brother's footsteps and so she meets people she makes friends she makes enemies along the way and there's also a super villain who is out trying to ruin everything she has to navigate that as well as other issues that arise and it's just so wholesome and so funny and so fast-paced it was just honestly the perfect middle grade next up is a book that i have not read yet but i am very excited to get to because it is by one of my favorite authors of all time and this may be my second favorite series of hers off to see after this book of course but that is chain of iron by cassandra clare so i actually got a couple editions of this i got the regular us hardcover edition i also purchased the fairyloot edition of this which has this gorgeous all black edition that's on cloth with these sprayed and stenciled edges on top bottom and here it's got a quote on the back and then this and then finally i also purchased for myself the a lumicrate edition which looks like this it has yellow pages instead a quote on the back as well and this on the side and this is the second book in the last hours trilogy i believe which is her latest series in this never-ending world of shadowhunters it's set in the 1900s early 1900s and i'm really enjoying it so far so i'm very excited to finally get to chain of iron because chain of gold was very good so next up is a book that i got a little bit ago but i don't remember if i've actually hauled it yet and this is you should see me in a crown i was actually gifted this by hannah from littleveganreader on instagram so thank you so much to hannah for sending this my way i'm very excited to get to it i've been looking for a lot of new contemporary ya books to put in to my classroom actually so this is one of the contenders i still need to read it just to make sure that it's all good so that i know it's in there and also so that i know who to recommend it to based on what they've already read and what they liked but what i know of this so far is that it is safic but also it is about this girl who wants to win i believe a scholarship for prom queen or something along those lines and one of her competition is who she ends up falling for in this book so i am definitely excited to get to this one i've heard nothing but good things one of the things i've heard multiple times is i couldn't stop smiling while reading this and that just sounds really good i love i i love when people describe their reactions to books in such a way that i'm like okay that's gonna be me because i love that was for me the house in the chilean sea when i wasn't crying i was smiling so hopefully i love this one as well next up we have another middle grade actually these are like vaguely in their same categories i'm realizing but um not enough for time time stamps so this one is holopox which is the finale to the trilogy that is nevermoor nevermore is about a girl who was born on eventide and that is like the cursed day to be born and so any of the kids that are born on that day are viewed as chris kids and so if anything goes wrong in the village they live in they blame it on those kids and so our girl morgan our main character she is obviously that kid for her place where she lives and because of this she is blamed for everything she's really just straight up not having a good time her family is awful and she gets whisked away to this very magical esque school where she then participates in trials to see if she's able to join this magical society where there's a bunch of people that are like her and it is a very wholesome very sweet middle grade i have started wondersmith i have not finished it yet that is the sequel to nevermoor and then of course we have the final book which is holo pox and i am excited to continue on with the series there's a giant cat in nevermoor a giant talking sassy cat just a way to get right to my heart next up i have a why a sci-fi and that is goddess in the machine first of all let's just look at like these gilded edges they're just this book is beautiful i don't know a lot about this i think it is someone wakes up a goddess who was um asleep in a machine i'm not kidding i really that is what i have heard but i don't that's not all the plot it can't be all the plot because that is like what kind of pitch is that but it is something along those lines i do love sci-fi i really like you sci-fi because it's very fun and i'm hoping that this falls in line with that i know the sequel is now out and i'm hoping i like it so i could hopefully pick that one up and like it as well next up we have easily one of my favorite books of 2020 and because it's ve schwab no one's surprised about that but i have the invisible life of addie larue this one is the forbidden planet edition so it's got these beautiful blue sprayed edges and then all of blue accents and the foil on the cover is blue as well and then i have probably my favorite edition of the book now that i've read it i think that this fits this like look the color scheme of this fits the vibe of the book much better but this is the illumicrate edition which i just i honestly i just love this so much and they did send this box to me so shout out to lumencrate thank you so much for sending this to me so that i could have this it's got these like sparkly sprayed edges which is a new weakness for me i've always loved sprayed edges i don't know why i know there's a lot of like jokes about it because it's like it's painted edges which is true fair enough but add glitter and it's over for me i i guess i didn't know this about myself i do now but i absolutely adored this i don't even know how to summarize this other than not a lot of books have made me cry i can count two and this one made me misty-eyed so it was such a good ending like i know so many people are sobbing at the ending i thought it was a sweet and perfect ending and it's also like kind of open so i just like wrote a fanfic in my head of what happens afterwards to make myself happier but in a very very very short synopsis this is about a girl named addy larue who she was terrified to get married when she was living in her time which was i think like the 1600s or something along those lines and so she prays to the gods that come out at night which she was warned not to do of course she does it and takes them up on their offer that they give to her which is that she can be essentially immortal but she will never be remembered therefore making it to where she cannot leave a mark on this world and one day in new york in about i think it's 2014 she goes into a bookstore and she is remembered by the guy behind the counter and i love that guy behind the counter i know some of my friends don't but i'm a henry stan i really like him i know there's the other one but i don't care like i really i really liked henry and i'll stand by that so i definitely recommend this especially if you want to get emo with a beautiful just ve schwa's writing is so lyrical and just beautiful and just this is basically a ve schwab wrote like lanie taylor that's what this writing style reminded me of because not all her books are like that but this one was just it was it was different it was different and in the best way possible let's just keep on the ve schwab train because i also got bridge of souls so this one is about our main character who is well she almost passed away and then a ghost saved her life so now she can see ghosts and he's her best friend and her parents are ghost hunters they have a show kind of like i would assume more along the lines of ghost adventures because it's fairly serious but her mom is the one that believes in the ghost her dad is a historian so one provides more factual the other provides more spiritual or paranormal insight to the show and they kind of just travel along the first one is city of ghosts and they are in scotland the second one is tunnel of bones and that is in paris and then this one bridge of souls is in new orleans and this is my favorite place in the world i'm so excited to read any book set there like the beautiful new orleans this new orleans just anytime any time a book is set there i'm already sold you could also tell me the plot that'd be a nice idea but you don't really have to because i just adore that city i miss it so much i want to go back so bad and i will in this book i really do recommend this series as well i've read some pretty good middle grades lately this is the third in the series i don't think you have to read them in order but i would because i feel like there is an underlying like there's a plot in each book but i feel like there is one solid plot throughout i've seen some people read it and not be too confused out of order i just personally wouldn't recommend it also because they're so short you might as well just read them in order so next up are two that i bought because of instagram i did i did and it's people that i trust that recommended it so i don't feel that bad about it but my best friend actually recommended this one and this is goldie vance i think this is like it's a hybrid between a novel but there's also some drawings in it like that which is that's really cool but it is i don't think it's a middle grade i'm pretty sure it's a wi-a but it is a mystery which i do love why mysteries and this seems a little bit more lighthearted it kind of just from the cover gives me some nancy drew vibes so i'm excited for this one and then this is another one that i picked up and i i can't remember if i hauled it because i did in a vlog but i don't think i did in like a huge video like this and this is another one that i want to put into my classroom i've heard it recommended that if you loved to all the boys i loved before the laura jean trilogy you would like this and i have a bunch of students that adored that trilogy so i picked this one up because i think that they're gonna like it i just again have to read it really quick make sure it's all good make sure it actually does fit that just in case or depending on what they liked from that trilogy maybe this one will fit but i'm excited to get this into my classroom because i've had so many requests for more contemporary more kind like middle school high school issues y.a and also to all the boys i loved before they all want just more of that series and i'm like there's only three but i will find more books so hopefully this one falls in line with that so next up is actually a book that i got from owlcrate right before i canceled my subscription not for any real reason other than i just wasn't digging the boxes anymore and the books weren't really what i was interested in because this is kind of an example i've never heard of among the beasts and briars this first of all is a beautiful addition i i really do love it but i've never heard of it and it gives me like the hazelwood kind of vibe so this is a why a fantasy but it doesn't seem like the kind of y fantasy that i tend to like so i'm hoping that i mean honestly i'm hoping i like it but if even if i don't i will still put it in my classroom hopefully and it'll be something else for them to get to read it is a beautiful cover and it is like it's an okay description it's just i've kind of found that i really prefer like fantasy that is driven by like the political issues within the kingdom and this seems like it follows the stereotypical route of hawaii fantasy which is not bad at all it's just not something that i'm currently interested in that could change of course but for right now this doesn't sound like something i'd be absolutely in love with so i do hope to read it and put it into my classroom so next up we have some miarder because what kind of haul would it be if i didn't include that okay so the books are already falling over this is going swell so first up we have baby teeth i genuinely bought this because i have a fear of babies mainly i have a fear of holding babies and doing it wrong but i also have a fear of small children just because i mean who doesn't you know i have seen such mixed reviews on this but i'm still willing to take a chance because it's a really short book it sounds like an interesting concept basically this lady is scared of her kid it on the cover it says it's gone girl meets the omen and we need to talk about kevin i know about we need to talk about kevin i absolutely adored gone girl the movie i did not read the book before which i still kick myself for today um but i love the omen so actually i kind of want to watch the omen i may do that after filming this but i'm excited for this one whether it's good or bad i think it's gonna be good even if it's bad it'll be bad in a good way you know and then this is a more recent release along the same lines but i've heard that it's a much much heavier book and that is the push my friends both gabby and katie have talked about this a lot on their channels and i am just excited to get into it i watched katie's vlog with it and i'll link her down below but it was the ending like her reaction to the ending is what got me and i had already ordered it before because i work with book of the month and i really trust them when it comes to their thriller recommendations because i really haven't i think i've read two out of all the books i've ordered from them in about two to three years that i didn't absolutely love they were all right but i just didn't love them but that ratio was pretty good so there's a good chance i'm gonna at least enjoy this which i can't really ask for much more but it is the same thing of like this woman it has a kid and she's not really connected with the kid i think she's having issues with the kid maybe i'm not really sure about this but it is one of those sellers that because it's so short i prefer to go in knowing just about nothing so that i can really just be confused so this next one reese witherspoon has influenced a lot of things in my life from legally blonde to big little lies to little fires everywhere and i just absolutely adore her in general and the fact that carrie washington is in it as well it was just like you put my two comfort actresses into one show and i watched the first couple episodes i was obsessed with it i loved it so much that i decided to pause and then read the book so that i could then go back and rewatch and finish the show out because i wish i had done that with big little eyes which i read last year but watched the show when it first came out and i just think i would have enjoyed the show even more if i had so hopefully that will be the case with this one but i think this is just a contemporary fiction and it gives me kind of what i talk about a lot is that i love rich people drama vibes i think it gives me surface level rich people drama but it is dealing with a lot deeper a lot more complex topics underneath that surface level like picturesque drama kind of feeling totally based on what everyone's told me i didn't read the synopsis because i again like i've said i really like to go into books not knowing too much about them and from watching the show i feel like i know more than i would have wanted to know before reading this which i know i should have thought about that but i surely didn't so here we are now next getting off of that we have one of my favorite books of all time my favorite book of 2020. i want to reread it so bad soon i've been watching people read it in vlogs just so that i could get some form of first of all serotonin second of all the feeling of reading it for the first time again which wouldn't you love if we could just do that with any book we wanted i would but it is legend born this is the owlcrate edition this is the one good book they did send in their box so i'm very glad that i was at least subscribed for this book but this is about a girl named debris and she has just gone through a very traumatic experience of her mother getting in a car wreck and unfortunately passing away and six months later we fast forward and she is going off to this university that has a kind of in-between program for senior level high school students or junior or senior one one of the two but she is in it because she's super freaking smart she's in it with her best friend they become roommates and so they go off and they're living on college campus they're doing like a duel program but they're still getting to live that college life which honestly sounds like a dream college was so it was just great so i really love the atmosphere of this it gives me light academia feelings like the just the vibe of the book gives me that but it also is an arthurian uh not retelling but kind of like a secret society continuation of the round table you see where i'm going with this i don't want to spoil anything that's not really a spoiler but she does go after this college and finds out that there are secret societies and one of them is about king arthur and the round table and her mom is somehow linked to these things so she of course is gonna investigate because her mom was adamant about her not going to this school so of course she goes duh obviously i would too and a lot a lot is discovered a ton and it is fantastic it is oh my god and i definitely recommend the audiobook if you can listen to it you should because it's got the southern accents it's got oh such a good voice actor it's just all around such a good book every time i talk about it i just want to read it even though i have like 40 books on my currently reading on goodreads maybe next up i am collecting dan brown books i have all of them currently they're on the best condition so if i happen to find some at a half price that are in better condition because they're so cheap i will buy them this one is not one that i had to re-buy because it was in pretty good condition when i got it from thrift bugs i mean good enough for me i kind of like when my books look red but i just don't like when they smell bad and sometimes thrift books sends books that smell bad but this is angels and demons by dan brown it is the first book in the robert langdon series for a second my mind totally just blanked i believe it's the first book anyways robert langdon is a symbologist who i mean obviously he specializes in symbology hello and it is the only book i've been able to find i'm on a mission i also ordered some books as well that kind of give me the mummy vibes because i just watched that movie with my partner and this is the only book so far that i have actually read that has given me the same kind of feeling as that so yeah i have actually only read i've read the da vinci code inferno and origin i have not read this one yet i'm currently actually in the middle of it but i just wanted to haul it and show it because honestly anytime i can talk about dan brown i'm gonna do it because i love dan brown i just i don't know i feel like i'm going to a really fun super passionate lecture about history and religion and it's a great time and i said it in my vlog and i'll say it here i did not know this my partner was raised catholic twas nauti and dan brown is like apparently super duper hated by the church and when he was growing up it was like shun dan brown kind of thing because it was so so awful what he was saying in his books and i don't know i don't know um i think that that's a different type of famous when like the catholic church hates you you know what i mean so next up we have oh more murder and horror and paranormal it's just a great time so i've got the burning girls by cj tudor this author we had a moment i can't look trying to remember what the book was that i read that i did not love i want to read the chalkman that sounds good to me i read the other people and here's the thing this is why i'm giving this author another chance and hopefully a third chance when it comes to the uh what did i just say the chalk man because i really liked everything about the other people until we got to the ending and i was just like that's not what i signed up for i think if i had gone in with a different mindset i would have been obsessed with it but i hadn't so i wasn't but this one listen i'm just hauling books i ain't talking about them that much because i don't know anything about it other than it's horror and a lot of people that i really trust when it comes to horror recommendations liked this and i'm just trusting him and i'm trying it again honestly with the church on fire on the cover and the fact that exercise as in an exorcism is within the summary that's what that was it that was it for me next up is a book i actually finished recently and that is the broken girls by saint simone nope simone saint james and this one is a is two timeline story which i really like in my thrillers and it's a paranormal thriller by the way and in the first timeline we're in the 50s we're at a boarding school for girls where it's kind of like girls that are not accepted in society their troublemakers go to this school and we're following a group of them and then in the more modern timeline we're following a journalist whose sister was murdered on the same school grounds but the school has been closed since like the 50s and she is trying to solve it despite the fact that it technically was solved she just doesn't believe that it happened the way it was claimed it happened and she basically is digging into the past of the school to try to find out what happened to her sister and they do come together i adored the ending of this book it is i would go into this with the same energy you go into like a conjuring movie with um the first conjuring movie is really good like it is really really good so don't go into it with that but like conjuring two feelings or insidious two and on you know like they're good but are they the best no but it's a good time and it's a little cheesy but it's fun it's creepy it did creep me out at night and i definitely recommend it if you want a paranormal thriller that is a paranormal thriller she is really good at writing those kind of books next up another one i finished recently is one by one by ruth ware ruth ware and i have had our moments i really loved the turn of the key until the end i thought it was just absolutely ridiculous but this one i went into thinking that basically she's a modern day agatha christie and let me tell you completely changed my reading experience it is almost identical to an agatha christie novel i think it actually is a retelling of one and it was it was just oh wow the little blurb in the cover actually says um this highly anticipated sixth novel is the agatha christie of our time at the top of her game i mean not wrong but i would not recommend thinking of this as a thriller think of it like agatha christie as a mystery there are some of the same elements that you would find in a thriller novel but those like core ones that make it a good thriller are not here like it's not scary really at any point but it is like i feel like that meme of the guy with all the red ribbon trying to like piece together what the heck is going on which i love i love doing that but i think the problem is people go into this thinking it's gonna be a thriller or something like that or more like the turn of the key and luckily it's not luckily for me it's nothing like the turn of the key it is a genuine like snowy creepy mystery which is great for me personally but i can see why some people did not like it and sorry for them but i loved it so next up i have a book that i bought once again actually these next three are from my classroom but this one i may keep depending on if i like it because my friend lexi from alexandria rosalind i'm sure you all know who lexi is has talked about this on its night books i can't remember what it's about but any book about books it's a done deal for me and i just saw it right now but this cat that's on the cover on come on we already know at this point how i feel about cats in middle grades i just feel like the animal companion in books can really make or break a book honestly can we get a middle grade mr kindly that would be adorable so the next one i have is the mystery of black hollow lane now i've seen lexi talk about this because she does talk predominantly about middle grade i don't remember if she liked it don't remember if she's read it don't remember what she thought about it but i do remember that it's basically secret society-ish boarding school ish conspiracy theory those are the three tags that i've seen or been told directly to me from people who have read it and said that i need to read it that i would love it because it's basically dark academia secret society but make it middle grade honestly i don't care the target audience if you say dark academia which i know is like a hot verbage right now like everyone labels everything dark academia if like there's a school involved it's academia which i mean technically not wrong but also is it right i don't know it's a brand new word that's come around i don't even know what the definition is at this point but any anything with that a secret society i don't care who it's aimed at it's aimed at me i'll tell you right now it's aimed at me so next up is a book i've also read recently i'm pretty proud at how many of these i've already read that goes to show what happens when you slack on your book hauls but that is the inheritance games and uh if you ever wanted knives out as a ya book there you go that's it that's my that is my elevator pitch for this book and i don't think i need to say anything else because i mean it is to a t about a girl who inherits a lot of money and there's a lot of family that does not like it and there's a mystery to unravel what's going on but instead of the audience unraveling the mystery of what happened like a knives out it is the main character and the grandsons of the dead billionaire trying to figure it out it was also set in texas which was kind of cool because i was like oh i know these places but also it's like you know one of the brothers is very yee-haw and i feel like i was like i've never heard anyone talk like that but i still liked it and there she has an older sister that'll it's just cute it's just cute i just loved this book a lot i gave it five stars i read it and i think i get maybe a day and a half i'll say a day and a half only because i'm not sure it was a full day but it was really really good and the second one comes out this year i think which is not fast enough for me but whatever they didn't consult me on it i don't know why but they didn't next up we have yet another book i read i read this one last year as well i've been wanting to get my hands on the hardback all-white editions of this series though because i just think that they're beautiful and this is one of my all-time favorite adult fantasy books although could i explain to you exactly what it's about no i feel like i would do it a disservice but can other youtubers that you can look up absolutely and i suggest elliott brooks but this is the way of kings by brandon sanderson it is a chunk of a book and it is so worth the time that it took me to read it is just phenomenal honestly it is for as many words are in this book i can't find any in my head to talk about how good this is but i i seriously loved it i thought i was gonna be like yeah it's fun but it's really slow and it is slow it's slow as heck but the payoff at the end when you get to like the last hundred pages probably 200 to 250 pages and you're seeing all of this that you've been you've been watching it slowly crawl and then all of a sudden it rushes and all the pieces start fitting together oh my it's magical it's genuinely magical and even though it's so slow-paced for me based on what i i'm used to reading it is written in such a genuinely beautiful way like it is i mean i'm in awe when i read brandon sanderson no secret i loved skyward in starsight which is his why a sci-fi series uh this isn't even compared to that i mean those are fun but this is just like it genuinely blows my mind like head empty all the words are here not for me though this is written so well next we have a i think i think there's murder in it if there's not i'm gonna be upset but i'm intrigued by this and i had some people recommend it to me in my comments and i do take recommendations and what is that called requests when it comes to books so i picked up the escape room now i have read a book by i think oh my god the night swim i think is by this author and i really liked the night swim it's got podcast elements so definitely recommend it but this one is about an escape room and i'm picturing like corporate people going to an escape room where they're supposed to like i do a team building exercise yeah that's what it is and i just i guess i don't understand how this could turn to murder but i think it's also because i'm so checked out at team building because i'm so tired i don't team building what is it but murderous team building let's read about it next i finished this one as well look at me go just speed in through these books uh a court of silver flames by ms sarah j maas this is the latest book in her fae series and it is the only one in the series i like so so glad i trudged through three bugs just to get to a good one finally also i think that the series is going to continue on but i like this even more because it's i don't think it's a it was the most stand alone i think a sarah j maas novel's ever gotten so if that tells you anything but there are a lot of trigger warnings definitely look them up before you go into this it is basically a book dealing with trauma and what i really liked is one of the things that brandon sanderson does is he does talk about mental health and i like it in a fantasy aspect because i feel like we see a lot of these characters going through like awful things and no one ever talks about the mental health toll but he does and then she does and she took this book in kingdom of ash and house of earth and blood all three of them really go into ptsd trauma anxiety depression and it is done so well and so real and i teared up in this book i got misty-eyed i did not cry so it doesn't count but it does go on the i'm feeling something bookless for me we can get through this we can do it we can do it god there's so many left so the next one is the call and this is a book that my friend mel from mel reads got me so thank you so much mel this is about a world where i think basically we're told like humans drove out the fae and now the fear back for some revenge and every time or every i don't know how how often how many intervals it's in but the fae do the call and they take young people and kill them and the young people come back and they're like really dead like not just dead but like really dead and i have started this i got let me see this is during the huge snore snow storm snow storm um i got 57 pages in it's interesting the writing seems like it would be a really good audiobook so i have purchased the audiobook to go along with this and i will be doing that as i continue on but it is creepy and it's weird so if you like realistic kind of a post-apocalyptic feeling to it but it's not like nuclear warfare post-apocalyptic i would recommend this one this one i was gifted by the publisher i don't know a lot about it i do know that it is queer which is super fun and fresh and we love to see it but that is cool for the summer it is a why a contemporary i'm assuming romance i think there's a love triangle and i'm pretty sure it's between the people that are in this girl's glasses and her and it is so short so i'm excited to get to this one too next up we have one of my all-time faves and i just i don't know what you want from me i don't even know what to say about this anymore i feel like i talk about it i do talk about every chance i get because i am nothing if not a person with an agenda and my agenda is getting you to read where dreams to send this is the owlcrate edition i'm still let down by it i still think that this is ridiculous and i would like there to be a dust cover to go with it but you can always get what you want whatever but the book is so good that honestly it doesn't really matter this is awful so this one is about a girl who is it's so weird the beginning of the book is so weird and it's almost pointless but she's kind of training at this place and she has magical powers magicians are like a known thing in here but typically it's guys who are magicians that perform on stage and so she decides nae nae and she goes to this town that's kind of deserted kind of cursed not really a great place to go people really want her not to go and of course she goes which makes me love her and she decides to participate in this competition and basically it's all these magicians performing showing off their powers and trying to win the competition and like i don't know be the best magician so there's a group of judges basically our main character is zendaya and honestly that's how i refer to her in the vlog where i read this it's how i refer to her when i'm talking about it in general i don't mean that in a bad way but this is literally like they're not forgettable characters but i've just i genuinely did override their names with zack and zendaya from the greatest showman and i don't feel bad about it because i just love that movie i specifically love that plot line and i love this book because it is like it really does feel like an au of those two characters from the greatest shaman like they just plucked them out of the world and put them into an alternate one and it is it's so good and there is this one scene if you like angst this one because there's a scene with the door which sounds really weird but that's just enough to let you know which scene i'm talking about and luckily i was filming when i i was doing like a montage when i was reading it and i just screamed and i don't think i put the footage in because i like i i for real screamed but it was so good like it i still think about it like all the time i have this book even though i hate this cover like this i have the book facing out on my shelf of like all my book box editions so that i can look at it and just get a just a spot serotonin and it's just this book is so good please read it another one bites us next up another beautiful book have not read it yet however i have found while i will not watch the movie les mis and i'll never read that book i do like retellings i liked the space one i read recently and this one i'm hoping i'll like as well the quarter miracles is a fantasy les mis retelling and this is the illuminate edition which is just prettier than it has a right to be and that's all i got for you it's a lame is retelling i feel like that is enough of a plot because it's a plot based on a plot but um yeah i do hope to get to it soon i just honestly get distracted by how pretty this book is like for what reason it's so shiny too i could send signals like bat signals across the oh my neighbor just walked by as i was doing that and the window is wide open love it for me next up another illumicrate edition this is the ravens so let me let me pitch this one to you because i was so freaking surprised at how much i liked this it has all the elements of things i like college setting sorority mystery witches but here's the thing it's written by two authors seamlessly their writing blends so well i honestly there are some authors that write together where i can tell who's writing what but this one nope nope because i've read other danielle page books and i couldn't tell you where she was writing and where cass morgan was writing it so good um this is basically of scream queens were to be meshed with the coven season of american horror story so it's like the vibe of coven because it's a coven of witches who are disguised in a sorority so they use the sorority as like their cover basically kind of like how money laundering uses laundry mats for their cover this coven uses a sorority for their cover and there's a mystery there's people dying they're like what the heck they have to solve it it's it's phenomenal it is so good and it's dual point of view and it's a girl who is coming to the school even though her mom is like adamant about her not going and then it's a girl who's already at the school and established and she knows she's a witch but the new girl doesn't know she's a witch so you're getting a different perspective someone who's been in the coven been in the sorority and is just honestly great and then you have the perspective of the new girl who doesn't even notice a witch but pledges to this sorority again it's great do do pick it up dual pick it up so this next one not only can i not justify it i don't need to justify it my friend molly liked it and i really trust their opinion on fantasy books because it seems like a good opinion to me so i got the mask falling this is like what the fourth book in the bone season that's fine that's okay i do plan to read it and it seems like one of those series that is very bingeable it reminds me nothing the plot is nothing like it but the way that people talk about reading this series is kind of how they talked about red rising the first book is good the second book is so good but it leaves you wanting more that you have to continue on which is what exactly what happened to me with the original trilogy of red rising so i'm kind of hoping that once i get back into a fantasy mood that i will just go right through this series because i think every element i've heard and also cody from cody's book corner loves it as well so everything i've heard i should in theory really enjoy this and i'm i'm not a hard person to please when it comes to fantasy books i'm really just not i also the only book i've read by samantha shannon is the priory of the orange tree and it's my favorite adult fantasy of all time so i have high hopes very high hopes and i think they'll be reached she's a really good writer so next up in my sales pitch for illumicrate just kidding but it is another illumicrate edition this is winter's orbit i don't know anything about this other than hello pages but it is a gay sci-fi honestly probably didn't need to tell me anything else i would have picked it up on my own based on that regardless but it is beautiful isn't it it is and i'm in the sci-fi mood so let me set this aside this might happen soon next up so i bought this because i wanted to watch the show and everyone that i saw um talking about it on goodreads recommended that you read each book before you watch the season that correlates to it but also it's really good because aaron from booked and busy is hosting i think it's called the expanse along i'm not sure that would make sense though but i could be wrong i probably am wrong i but you know what i do try so i have leviathan wakes calibans war which makes me think of sabrina nothing to do with it i know and then abaddon's gate that's for sure how you say that again this is i'm pretty sure it's a space opera for some reason i don't know it might be because i liked finn with the opera as a kid and in my head these things relate i know they don't actually but i want to read a space opera so that's what i'm going to do i'm going to read it and it sounds good i watched a little bit of the show i watched the trailer for the show and i was just like that sounds really good but i want to read the book first so that i can because here's the thing someone else said that you should watch the season first and then read the book because the season is really good at doing all the plot twists and stuff while i can understand that if i watch the show this brain right here will just be like good enough you got you got the gist of things and i will never pick these books up so i think leviathan wakes is this month's book for the expanse along so maybe i shouldn't call it that the read-along for this series so hopefully i will be picking it up soon i need to check if my library actually has a copy so that i can listen to it while i read and then i also picked up an absolutely remarkable thing two reasons love hank green period especially on tick tock second it was five dollars at books million i have no idea why i don't ask questions i just pressed check out and it was done and i have heard that this is a fun sci-fi and i again really do enjoy why sci-fi so maybe maybe it was a good thing i did this thing so next up is another book that was sent to me this one was sent to me by stacy so thank you so much and it is fat chance charlie vega i wanted to read this because it looks adorable sounds adorable but also because again more books in my classroom and i was actually sent this in order to put it in my classroom so i'm gonna have to read it real quick and then it'll probably be in there because i have seen it recommended tons and tons of times and a lot of the teachers that i do um follow on bookstagram have this on their shelves so we will see i just refer to instagram the app as if bookstagram is i mean it is the only thing that exists on it but i can't believe i did that next up i don't know anything about this at all it's from fairyloot it's master of one i remember reading because i think it is a bunch of ragtag people trying to find these relics and i think it is going to do the fae so worst case shimmery edges we have that for us don't we then where's the other one oh i'm reading it duh but i have the third book in the bromance book club series and i am absolutely loving this i loved the first book i'm really into the second book right now i am so happy about that because i really wanted to buy this third one because there's a cat on the cover and it is so freaking cute but uh this is about a bunch of dudes who read romance in order to enrich their love lives and while sometimes it's unbelievable like too ridiculous amount uh it's really fun it's just fun and it's one of the only books where reading from a dude's point of view within it doesn't completely ruin the story for me because sometimes i'm just like i didn't need to know that thank you so much and then i also have oh god can i can she hold these up well oh no apparently not dear lord they're really floppy paperbacks which why did i say that sad it's great not good for handling but good for reading i have the graceling series and then the newest book penguin teen sent this to me so thanks guys it's real nice of yeah um i don't know oops it's out of order just do that real inconspicuously it's like you can't even oh i'm really excited to read this then we have another fantasy which i think this is actually a romance fantasy but it is down comes the night this is a uh not finished copy of it but i am reading it currently i'm on chapter four so i can tell you it's definitely fantasy it's got political intrigue in the court system and not the court system like legality but court system is in like the royal court and i think this girl can heal so she's going off to some like he's pitched as like the evilest man in all the land or whatever and she has to heal his servants so obviously they're gonna fall in love and it's gonna be great and i am excited and then you would think i was like spreading these out on purpose just to like remind you that illumicrate exists i'm not but did you know i'm just kidding but i have a dark and hollow star i am so excited to read this because it's pitched as like a gay cruel prince insidious bones combo and it's basically a bunch of queer characters trying to solve a serial killer that's going on right now in a fairy world like this author they really like ashley thank you thank you you are doing the lord's work i just appreciate this author i don't even know them they don't know me i don't i follow him on instagram though because as soon as i saw this cover i was like i need to know who you are and um i do now and thank you thank you thank you for this book i haven't read it yet but when i do i already know i already know i'm going to thank you some thank you now gay serial killer solving characters what the heck next up we have more romance because i'm not who i once was but let's start out with this book because yeah i already own two copies and no i'm not taking questions this is crescent city no it's not this is house of earth and blood by sarah j maas in the crescent city series and if you were wondering because i had it on instagram to wonder and to find out and i couldn't find out so i bought it um this is very floppy like wow so this one i am going to be writing in i've never written in a book that wasn't for school so i'm pretty excited to do it although i hate my handwriting so not that excited but i am excited to reread it for a third time i really like this book okay now we have the romance i don't know anything about these so we're just going to be flipping through them like speedy gonzales i got written in the stars it's saffic pride and prejudice retelling love the gays i got much ado about nothing heard there was british humor in it there's a dog on the cover much ado about nothing made me think of 10 things i hate about you that's why i bought it not that kind of guy i actually got it yesterday in the mail from molina i think that's how you say it she said where they said your videos always make my day i hope this book makes yours you know what it did thank you friend for sending this to me because i'm on a romance cake and i don't know when i'm gonna stop but it's been two months and it's still going so what the heck thank you for coming to my rapid fire romance segment turns out i was wrong there's still two more oh i was wrong again there's five more i i guess i was really going through it so let me start with another one that was sent to me by just the nicest of human beings on this planet this one was sent from b reads uh it is the off-limit rules this is the trope of best friend's brother brother's best friend that one although i wouldn't mind the other one too that sounds great as well the drama but uh just excited about it we're doing rapid fire remember oh oh lord rapid fire uh the next one i got not the not the girl you marry first of all the dog second of all the other dog stars are great also pitched is 10 things i hate about nope how to lose a guy in 10 days i love that movie i still love that movie so much it's just gender swapped i don't whatever i can't wait to read it next we have the friend zone i was told this might make me cry i doubt it there's also a dog on the back this one i got the art gov i literally i did cry i haven't even opened the book but i did cry when i got this arg one last stop it's gay there's a time traveler on a train i think then we have this one shipped kind of a cute pun to be quite honest also i think it's about co-workers on a retreat for work or something like that and they fall in love someone said the hating game meets uh the on honeymooners and i bought it we're done now okay another fairy loot book no idea what it's about i just watched uh a couple other people unbox it on youtube and they seemed interested in it and they are people that i trust for fantasy so hopefully this is gonna go well but got this golden flame it is very pretty and it's got painted edges which is apparently that's where my bar is so next up i have dark matter which is a book that i have been recommended time and time again and samantha sent this to me so thank you so much for sending this to me uh blake crouch is someone that i definitely want to read i have this one in recursion on my tbr of life not a specific month but um maybe when summerween comes along i'll choose this because i've heard that they're both very very very fast paced so this book is a book that i dnf before i even started it i dnf'd the series in the middle of the second book but my friend kailyn sent it to me so i will never get rid of it because i am a sentimental to a fault obviously as you can see all of these books have memories attached to them i don't even know man but it is ruined and rising also i'm not upset because i really like these covers like these editions so it is like they're nice they're nice to have on my shelf and also because kaelin sent them to me so first of all thank you kailyn i hope you enjoy this series more than i did and i hope that the tv show is better and if mal dies in episode one i'm just saying next up we have i think this is owlcrate i don't know i think so though i don't think i'm wrong but that doesn't always mean anything does it uh scavenge the stars it's a fantasy why fantasy next up we have a dark academia that i have seen recommended alongside if we were villains which i am very slowly making my way through that book because i don't want it to end honestly and the secret history someone said it leans more towards if we were villains so if you liked that one you'll like it more than as if you like the secret history i read probably like 50 pages into the secret history and i wasn't bored but i was annoyed like i just really hated the voice and i didn't usually when they're like and if we were villains there's a lot of unlikable characters um basically all of them but i still like them for some reason you know like i can't pinpoint why but i do uh in the secret history it was just basically the group of kids that i would have absolutely avoided at all costs which could be the point that's fine i don't really want to upset the stands but i just didn't like it so i went ahead and i spoiled myself for it and um i don't think i really lost out on anything so i picked up this to hopefully like it more than i liked that these violin delights i hope i do we'll see how it goes right then along the lines of like a sci-fi thriller which my friend molly sent me because molly is just again the sweetest being at lakewood i have started this on audio i decided to stop the audio so i could pick it up physically and then molly like an actual angel happened to send it to me so thank you so much again molly i will be reading this very soon because it's about this girl who is in need for money and she decides to take part in this to me it sounds like a science experiment on human beings but like consenting to it and getting paid and it seems to target people who are low on income right now and that's really sketchy so i am interested i am intrigued i don't want to stay excited because i i'm not excited about human experimentation thriller wise this seems creepy and it's one of those ones that from what i've read so far it's near future sci-fi so it's not like so far in the future that i can even envision this happening like we've got phones implanted in our arms but there's just enough that it's almost uncanny it gives me an uncanny feeling oh i forgot to also haul season storm also from kaelyn thank you caitlyn but no thank you leigh bardugo then i also have fable by adrienne young i have heard that this is a really good what is it called why a pirate book i did not really like skye in the deep when i read it by her that's a viking one and i thought i would because i i enjoy vikings i think like the idea of them not the actuality of them but um i love pirate books it's really hard to not make me happy when it comes to hawaii pirate book so hopefully this is the one for me then this one i was sent by book of the month and it is the lost apothecary i saw on bookstagram that this is basically right here a forgotten history a secret network of women a legacy of poison and revenge and that's it not only that but i've seen a couple of the people i really like when it comes to reviewing more adult titles liking this a lot so that makes me very very excited to hopefully pick it up soon next up we have more murder because of course uh we have his and hers i don't know anything about it again saw some of my friends recommend it i trust them this one i have read at the end of her by sherry lapina this one was very good so it's a married couple who have twins and they're kind of struggling with getting used to that and then all of a sudden some random lady comes from the husband's past and drops the bombshell that he killed his ex-wife what do you think of that and the wife is like huh and it's really good it's really good let me tell ya let me tell you if you want to feel empowered as a feminist by the end of this book here you go uh yeah it's a good one it was really good uh cherilypina i will probably always pick up her books because they are very much the equivalent of i saw this trailer of a movie it looks interesting it doesn't look like it's gonna be my favorite of all time but it's a good tuesday afternoon you got five dollar tuesdays i might as well go to the theater and buy a ticket have a good old time with a popcorn which is exactly what i do when i see those uh movies so i recommend this one very good maybe add popcorn for some spice i also got the owl crate edition of how the king of elf ham came to hate stories or learned to hate stories um i really love the duology of the cruel prince in the wicked king i think it's really good um i know she put out that like alternate ending queen of nothing couldn't couldn't be bothered to read that one but i am excited for this one i like the coloring that they chose for the owlcrate edition and i've heard that this actually in all seriousness i've heard a lot of people that didn't like queen of nothing said that this was better than queen of nothing and this is like literally like actually of nothing like this is such a short book i also bought the book version with uh okay good omens is my favorite show at the moment either like not all-time favorite but that and scandal they're really close uh so i bought the bougie edition is what i'm calling it it's really the illustrated edition of good omens but i mean i guess i didn't realize they literally put like michael sheen and david tennant in this book i thought i don't know i don't know i don't even know when this came out in comparison to the movie but i don't care i i just i love this show so much it was so good i started listening i listened to the first like i think 50 pages of this book on audio that will be how i'm listening like reading it i'll listen to the audio while reading along in this edition but um yeah i just love the narration style i think it's great i think it is definitely a specific kind like if you don't like overly narrated shows like my partner um probably not for you but we can't all have taste oh next up this i am proud to say other than the betrayals this is the only cover buy i have done so far in 2021 so that also where's the wood knock on wood hopefully i keep up with that but uh it's the left-handed booksellers of london i really genuinely here's my thing i saw that it was about books about booksellers it's set in london in what is it the 80s come on now like those are already things i like and it's beautiful so i was going to get the book anyways but i saw the uk edition i was like let me get that one so i did and it's blurred by v schwab so really all signs point to go and i did go to check out like with a swiftness then i got the third volume in the moonstruck series this is basically a magical college graphic novel super cute super gay i really recommend it and then this is the last one i was sent i was sent this from bethany which is so sweet thank you so much bethany for sending this my way but it is lightbringer this is the third and final book i believe in the imperium trilogy which yes trilogy equals three come on olivia uh i adored fury born i thought it was so good there's two timelines in it two point of views separated by a thousand years so it's like you get a a wide variety in the point of views um the one so one of them is like a rag tag person who is kind of like street smart and that's in the more recent timeline the timeline that's a thousand years ago is a super annoying person who is competing in a trials to basically be seen as like the sun goddess or something like that and i could not stand her character but i liked the side characters in her point of view and i liked her plot enough that i was like you're insufferable but i will keep reading and i really liked the main person i consider the main person's point of view so i do recommend this if you just want a good y fantasy honestly and then where we will end this video is on a series i am confident i'm gonna like it's the most beautiful set of a series that i own and i have read the first book just not the other ones but it came as a set so that's why i have all of them it's the fairy loot editions of an ember in the ashes so we have amber nash's with these sprayed edges then we have a torch against the night and it's got these beautiful teal edges we have a reaper at the gates with these kind of green almost seafoam green edges and then the final one a sky beyond the storm my favorite edges this like pinky purple so yeah i'm just excited to read that series that's one that i know i'm gonna like because i really liked the first book it has everything set up and everything i've heard i've actually heard complaints about the second book that are things i love so it's only looking up y'all it's only looking up for me in this series but yeah um thank god we're done and hopefully also we're done buying books so that i don't have to do another book haul until the end of the year i'm hoping hoping that's how this goes um but the emoji for the day if you've made it this far first of all wow i've had to press record on my camera this is the third time now so this is going to be a long video i can feel it in my soul and my bones but um the emoji of the day is going to be a plant any plant you would like um i'm thinking about the potted plant and yeah thank you so much for watching i hope you're having a wonderful morning afternoon or night wherever you are and i will catch you in my next video [Music] so
