[Music] welcome back to Langley farms Academy as always I'm Braden and today we're continuing our nine mill vs. 12-gauge versus ar-15 what is the best platform for home defense I put this series together to show you what these rounds and these guns will do in your environments today we're doing a cinder block I want to show you what will happen within a 9-mil at ar-15 and a 12-gauge comes in contact with a cinder block so if you had a cinder block wall dividing you in a neighbor's house or you live in a cinderblock home or if you had cinder block somewhere in your environment what would happen if these rounds were used and you missed an intruder that's what this series is for so watch the guns in the ammo that I've chosen then we'll get to the cinder block all right so let's take a look at the guns that I've chosen and the ammo that will represent a home defense situation this might give you some area of thought something that can you apply in your household or your living situation for the best defense possible if you ever ran across this question now the ar-15 that I've chosen is a generic ar-15 this is a Rock River Arms this is a very stable ar-15 entry level cost around 900 to 1100 dollars at the lower is chambered for two to three or five five six so very very generic ar-15 nothing outside the norm here the ammo that I've chosen for the ar-15 is the 50 grain American Eagle hollow-point this is a typical round that in ease a consumer across the United States would have access to it might be a potential defensive option the mags that I'm using are the pyrotechnic firearms academy they're hex mags that are direct coated with the painting that you see right now that's the ar-15 now moving over to the shotgun we are using a Mossberg 500 one of the most stable platforms available very very cheap around three hundred dollars a very good home defense option now the ammo that you're looking at we've chosen critical defense this shoots about eight pellets at 1600 feet per second so this is going to be a larger area of impact but a smaller projectile but a bunch more projectiles in one shot so that's one of the benefits of the shotgun very stable very accessible ammunition very stable platform or home defense as well now the pistol is a run-of-the-mill Springfield XDM this is a four inch barrel this is would be similar to a Glock a at H&K a Sig a Smith & Wesson all those types of barrel configurations and platforms that you would see in a typical American gun store this would be a good representation now the ammunition that I've chosen is hornady critical duty 135 grain ammunition this is a self-defense round that's going to be rolling at about a thousand feet per second out of the muzzle of the gun so very popular round very popular platforms I hope this helps you give a little data kind of take a look at your home your house in your situation and what's best for you alright so those are the guns in the ammo now I'm going to shoot this first Center block with a 9-millimeter follow it up with an ar-15 and then follow up with the 12-gauge and hopefully everything works out and gives you some great data to make your own decisions always where I pro in shooting any kind of stone because I've been ricocheted hit a few times with that said let's do this all right gopro downrange fell down let's go check out the damage on slow-mo alright that was the 9 mil and we'll look at that damage in a second because when I shot it the slo-mo stopped so hopefully this limo stays on for the ar-15 shot and let's take a peek [Music] [Music] [Music] alright check in slow-mo then we'll come back with us with a 12-gauge alright there was the ar-15 slow-mo did work that time now let's do a 12-gauge and hopefully I don't be the first guy to shoot a GoPro Hero 5 well one the first gotta shoot a GoPro Hero 5 but the cinderblock definitely fell on it let's go check that out alright so that was the 9 mil ar-15 12-gauge shotgun cinder block test that has some different results but before I get into the results I want to show you guys something the new GoPros are extremely resilient I just shot a cinder block it broke in half the GoPro fell under it and the cinder block fell from about three feet on top of the GoPro and the only damage that existed is right here on this edge that is it and that's just surface tension or surface Mauri that GoPro still works perfectly fine and it kept the shot the whole time which is really impressive so good for them alright so that was the 9 mil 12-gauge in ar-15 let's take a look at the damage because that was amazing so let's see what did board damage and what would be better in your house this guy right here is the ar-15 ok go on inside very little damage with a pretty good exit hole this guy right here is the 9 millimeter smaller entrance wound larger exit hole very little impact on the back this guy down here is the 12 gauge so you can look just like just by seeing that right there there's the impact point right there and it just blew the cinder block to pieces I mean hit dead center and just destroyed it that is crazy well guys that is it for the cinder block test I hope you all enjoyed it let me know what you think is a better platform for home defense 9 mil ar-15 or 12-gauge and I will see you on the next one
