like faith was reactivated or reached another level right hey what was your favorite day okay it was tuesday okay um i like passing mike ty a lot a lot also though um i enjoyed the fact that it was like a piece of chicago in every every night right bucket boy is killing yeah like i really enjoy that we added that little nugget into the whole experience absolutely absolutely hey the whole week was great for me like i cried and fell on the ground every day yeah i was excited listen to the truth one special moment though let's go over once all right monday okay what's crazy for me not monday tuesday okay tuesday was crazy for me mike todd like completely blew my mind definitely built my faith up and given me the capacity to imagine especially being over outreach looking for what ways we begin our series today called out the box how god uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things what if i told you that god has given you something unique that has in it everything that it takes to be better for yourselves and better for your family and better for everyone that's connected and associated to your life what if i told you that there is something in your possession that god has uniquely gifted you and given you for the advancement of his kingdom and when you are ready to surrender and submit that to god god will do more with it and get the glory out of your life you see when god called moses to the kingdom for an assignment the lord asked him a unconventional question he said moses what is that in your hand and moses replied a staff is what i have in my possession what looked like one thing to one person god saw in a uniquely different way god was going to use the very thing that he had in his possession to bring his people into a place of promise and i'm telling everyone under the sound of my voice that god has given you something something unconventional that he wants to do in and through your life you see with moses he used the staff but elijah he used his men to with esther she used her influence with solomon he used his wisdom and there was even a man by the name of henry box who is known as henry box brown in the 19th century a present a virginia slave who escaped to freedom at the age of 33 by arranging for himself to be mailed inside of a wooden crate he mailed himself to philadelphia on the side of freedom and when they opened up the box he got out the box and he was a free man how many of you know that god is using your life with something unexpected something unconventional and he's going to use it for his benefit if you're willing to get out the box see in first samuel the 17th chapter is where we'll find our text today as we deal with david the giant slayer the musician the conqueror the king he was a young shepherd boy who ascended rapidly to the throne of israel david however as he's known to be one of the greatest kings in the history of the bible even through the lineage by which our lord and savior jesus christ came through david was not born into royalty in fact he was opposite from born into royalty he perhaps was just born into a position where he was unwanted and unrespected but yet god had decided that he would use his life for his benefit and his glory you see how many of you know that how you start is not how you're gonna end that god has something greater on the other side of your season that you're in right now and just because you may be unknown right now god knows how to move you from obscurity to notoriety you ought to put a phrase right there and begin to release a sound that declares it won't end like it began i love david's story because you know they called him to the party that was really for him and they tried to leave him out of a moment he found himself in a moment that was set up strategically for him in first seventh and first samuel the 17th chapter and the 16th verse it says that for 40 days that the philistines came forward every morning and every evening to take a stand you see israel was in a place of a war and they were in the bat in a battle and all the warriors in their conventional stance were standing from one side to the other side and and israel was on one side and the philistines was on the other side and they had found themselves at a standstill nothing was moving they were stuck no progress have been made for 40 days and then david shows up on the scene and when he shows up on the scene he doesn't come to fight the battle he shows up on the scene to serve his brother's lunch his father has sent him to serve his brother's lunch who were a part of the army and they had always dismissed david they knew it was something particular and something peculiar about his life but when he showed up he showed up serving his brother's lunch how many of you know that god is creating an opportunity in your serve in an unconventional space in an unconventional way that you may show up in a moment that everything has been set up and aligned particularly for you and though it may not seem like something greater is hidden in this moment i came to let you know that you're standing in a moment that we're designed for you and if you're ready to take the stand and take the charge and be everything that god has called you to be i need you to shout yes right there you see david showed up serving lunch and when he shows up serving lunch he sees a situation it that is unfolding he sees israel at a standstill and he asks the question while goliath is taunting the israelites he says who is this uncircumcised philistine who is this giant that has come up to this moment to put us at a pause you see unprecedented opportunities often show up in problems and it's the problem that you solve that is creating an opportunity for your promotion i'm gonna say it again because when you roll up on a problem in a circumstance it's the problems that you solve that create an opportunity for your promotion actually the problems that you solve create an opportunity for you to establish credibility and everything you must understand is that hidden inside of your problem is your promotion i'ma say it again i said hidden inside of the problems you saw is your promotion and so david stands in this moment and he sees a problem and he doesn't shrink back even though he wasn't there for that god had created a moment he was in a divine assignment and god was about to do something in his life that had not been seen before he stands in this moment hidden in the problem is the opportunity for a promotion and david asks the question in the problem he says um i've got a question for you uh what is the promise what happens to the person that defeats goliath what happens to the person that solved this problem that handles this issue what happens to the person that take care of this for israel well the answer said that that that the promise would be for the king's daughter to be married to the person that doesn't and whoever killed the giant not only would the king's daughter be married but also that their family would be exempt from all taxes and that they would come to a place of wealth and authority can i tell you that god's about to shift your zip code shift your financial status shifts your connections but the problems that you solve will determine the promotion if you receive that promotion over your life right now i dare you to release the praise and give god a shout right now come on you've been facing with a problem and trying to figure out why god got you in a moment it's because you're not ordinary you're not regular there's something peculiar about your life and this moment has been set up for you he says i'm about to change everything about it and david recognized that every problem is not his problem i'ma say it again he recognized that every problem is not his problem so he doesn't try to solve every problem but he sees something in this moment that said god if you can get the glory out of this situation perhaps since everybody that's been standing here has not done anything perhaps you've called me to the kingdom for such a time as this and i'm telling you that doors are about to open for you the opportunity is about to open for you that promotion is coming to you and you've been called to the kingdom for such a time as this and what other people are afraid of you are ready for in fact where my people at that know you were born for this moment i need you to fist bump somebody and tell them i was born for this i was born for this moment i was ready for this challenge i feel there's an anointing on my life to do something about this i'm not gonna just talk about it i'm gonna be about it and when i show up on the battlefield i'm ready to do whatever god tells me to do lift your hands and tell god use me lord use me use me and it's a dangerous thing it's a dangerous thing when when you run into a problem and you start complaining about the problem that you were born to solve it's a dangerous thing when you run into the problem because perhaps god lets you see the problem because he knows you knows what exactly what to do with it perhaps god puts you in the moment because he knows that this is the way that he clears a path for you because you get paid for the problems that you saw your level of financial security has to do with the level of problems that you solve you see the bigger the problem that you saw for someone the more value you add to the moment you see the the the the crisis that you step into without flinching it determines the value that you add to a moment and so so what god does is if he wants to promote you he'll put a problem in front of you you see if if he just promoted you without putting a problem in front of you then people can say that you got promoted because of another reason but when god wants to promote you introduce you advance you what he does is he puts a problem in front of you and say let me see if you can solve a problem because a problem is an opportunity for you to establish credibility and people they want promotion and they want to get paid but in order to get paid you got to solve a problem so god creates an opportunity for david david runs up in the moment and i love because god uses the unexpected he uses the underestimated uh here everyone is setting the scene is set you know the story everyone is set and they're geared up and ready for battle they're there because they're known to be people that actually uh win and engage in battle and here david shows up underestimated because he doesn't even show up ready for battle he shows up ready to serve but how many of you know that god knows how to take your serving and turn it into greatness and just because you're standing there don't mean that it's a setup for your next level because only the people that serve will go to the next level david stumbles upon an opportunity david they've been serving his brother's lunch and when they get there he like oh there's something going on here i didn't i didn't come for all of this but but since i'm here uh i see some have you ever stumbled on something that other people were stuck on and while they were stuck you saw a solution where my solution reset in the building i mean have you ever have you ever stumbled on something that seemed hard for other people but god given you some insight to make what was hard for others easy for you that's not a time for you to brag that's the time for you to do something because the reason why god lets you show up in the moment because he wants you to do something i love it when i'm underestimated how many of you love to be underestimated you don't come in tooting your home your own horn you don't come in bragging matter of fact you might be sitting next to the person that you need while you acting funny to him in church right now you you might literally i mean new life is everywhere you might literally be sitting next to the person that you're gonna have the job interview with later on this week and that's why you can't afford to treat everybody like nobody cause everybody is somebody and you never know who you sitting next to not your neighbor tell them you better treat me right i might be the answer to your problem you better treat me right i might be the answer to your prayer you better treat me right i might be the answer that you've been looking for and the worst thing you can do is underestimate me just because i didn't post it just because i don't act extra don't mean that i don't got extra david shows up and he stands in the moment everybody shout underestimated and when he shows up in the underestimated moment uh he he start his brothers trying to shun them and try to push them back and then them pushing them back they're like david go give me my lunch give me my sandwich and go somewhere because uh you all know nothing about this we out here fighting we out here in a war and his brother's trying to push him aside again and david uh got got he learned how to push past his brothers that could not see him and they said a thing to him they said um david said to saul when he found out who he was searching for and talking he said let no one lose a heart on account of this philistine your servant will go and fight your servant will go and fight him your servant will go and fight him and and and i don't want you to be afraid because i know that it doesn't look like i can do anything about this moment but i feel like that god called me here and though it looked like it was one thing it was really something else that was being established and he said let no one lose account for your servant will go and fight him and saul replied you are not able to go out against this philistine and fight him because you are a young man and he has been a warrior from his youth can i tell you that you cannot afford in this season to allow anyone to count you out because they can't see what god has placed in your life can i tell you that you cannot afford to let anyone count you out because they think you're too old to do something about it if you were done you'd already be dead and can i tell you that you cannot afford to let anyone count you out because they think you're too young because the bible says let no man despise your youth that god has strategically positioned you in a moment and a place but you have to get past the opinions of people one of the greatest things you have to fight through is through the opinions of people the opinions of people will stop you before you get started the opinions of people will talk you out of what you yourself believe that you can do something about the opinions of people have a way of getting inside your head and their projections of you become warfare that you have to deal with inside your own mind how many of you know sometimes the hardest thing you have to do is get out of your own head how many of you know if you could just get out of your own head and get out the bed that everything will be all right how many of you know that you know what god has placed inside of you but sometimes the perception the perception of people are the greatest hindrances that you have to fight through and when you're underestimated it's really a unique position because now god can do something extraordinary out of your life you see you can never allow the the opinions the perceptions of other people to diminish the identity that god has placed inside of you you can never allow what people see about you to determine the outcome of what god can do in your life i tell you all the time you see how you perceive me will never diminish me it will just determine what you receive from me and just because you don't see me properly does not diminish who i am it just determines that you can never pull from what you don't and what you don't acknowledge and so if you overlook the gift of god that he sends into your life by underestimating somebody that god has sent to bless you i said to reward you i sent to favor you you cannot afford to underestimate and for all my people that's ever been underestimated you ought to lift up your hands and give god a praise right there because your underestimation was a gift did you hear what i said your underestimation was a gift because not only did you meet the expectation but it gave you an opportunity to exceed the expectation you under promise and god over deliver that i need somebody that's ready to step up and be everything god called you to be fist bump your neighbor tell them don't underestimate me don't underestimate me don't underestimate me they underestimate him they underestimate him but when you get underestimated don't complain about it use it somebody shout use it use the underestimation when they underestimate you don't complain about it use it i love david he didn't spend time explaining he didn't spend time talking to the wrong people he didn't spend time talking to people that couldn't make decisions he didn't spend time talking to people trying to convince people that had no power or no authority he got past his brothers he went to saul saul looked at him said i know you as a musician i know you as a musician but i don't know you as a warrior this man has been trained are you sure you want to do this david says let me adam because if one thing i know is that when i was on the backside of the desert the same god that was with me then fighting the lions and the tigers and the bears oh my is the same god that's with me now it might be a new situation but it's the same god i need somebody that recognizes her i might be in a new situation but i'm still with the same god and the same god that got me through that knows how to get me through this i dare you to pull on your history with god take 20 seconds and pull on your history with god take 20 seconds and pull on your history with god and the same devil that's trying to tell you that this is going to take you out i get you to give god a shout a worship and a praise the same god that can heal you from a headache can heal you from cancer the same god that can deliver your child can save your husband the same god the lions the tigers the bear oh my the lions the tigers the bear oh my can you give god a praise for the lions the tigers and the bears can you give god a praise for the times he did the little things because the same god that does a little thing for you i need you to get this in your spirit because when you start praising god for a previous season don't you feel your strength coming up for your now season and what's in front of you it's gonna be just like what's behind you because greater is he that is in you underestimate it use it when you're underestimated use it use it use it use it because god often send things in packages that you don't expect some of y'all missed your boo because it didn't look like you thought had everything you wanted but went tall as you thought you wanted had everything you needed but didn't didn't come dressed like you thought listen you can change your outfit and buy a wig y'all hear what i'm saying but at the end of the day it's your values it's your mind and your heart that's gonna build my life i don't wanna miss what god is sending cause it don't look like what i wanted i'm gonna let that sizzle somebody shall use the unexpected david pushed past it he pushed past it he pushed faster number two if you're going to live outside the box not only do you have to be willing to use the unexpected uh i'm sorry to use to use the underestimated you have to be willing to use the unexpected you have to be used you have to be willing to use the unexpected so to be underestimated is a gift use it and then you have to look for the unexpected the unexpected the bible says that when saul said okay so if you're gonna do it then then if you're gonna do it at least do it my way if you're going to do it if you're going to fight if you're going to fight the philistine then at least go and do it my way he he thought he was he thought he was blessing him but instead of blessing him he was about to become a burden for him he says uh he says if you're gonna if you're gonna get involved if you're gonna fight this giant that has been uh in this position in this place then at least take my armor at least at least take the stuff that i use to fight with uh at least put on put on put on my my armor at least put on my tummy tonic at least dress up in the stuff that we wore with at least at least at least i know that you came here swaggy i know you look fresh i know you don't dress like the rest of us but at least put on what i think you should put on at least you should wear what it is that we wear when we go to war at least you can grab my sword at least you can put on my helmet at least you can put on my armor it might it might mess up your outfit but if you're going to fight goliath then fight the way we fight david tried to stand there as a position of honor and say okay um if you want me to do it your way i think that i'll i'll accept the honor that you have by putting your stuff on my life but the bible says that when david tried to move that he could not hardly budge because he was not used to this stuff can i tell you the worst thing you can do is allow somebody else to put their expectations on you and try to get you to do you with they step on you you gotta learn how to respectfully decline i thank you that you see it this way but if i'm honest i can't move in your stuff and if i'm gonna fight i'm gonna have to do it my way i don't i don't mean no disrespect mr saul but i can't move in your stuff your stuff isn't tested your stuff isn't proven what works for you works for you and what works for me works for me and i ain't trying to disrespect you but if the truth be told that's not my stuff i need you to look at somebody around you and tell them that's not my stuff that's not my insecurity that's not my fear that's not my doubt that's not my worry don't try to put on me what god put on you because what god has for you is for you and what god has for me is me i just need somebody that will let me be myself i need you to tag somebody and tell them excuse me but i need you to let me be me because the same god that use you in the way he uses you wants to use me it takes courage it takes courage to look at somebody and say i'm the only one out here ain't dressed in your stuff but it take courage to go in your own skin you see you got to be careful because pastor hannah that don't live their life out the box because they wearing what other people put on them and they can't hardly move because they wearing the expectations of others they wearing the fears of others they wearing the perceptions of others and it took david to stand there and say this not my stuff if that stuff was working for you y'all would've already won this battle obviously something about what you was doing ain't working because if it was working i wouldn't be here and the worst thing you could do is try to make me be you when you wasn't working we don't do it like that that's the problem that's why you suck we don't do it like that who you think you are coming with some new ideas if we didn't need no new ideas i wouldn't be here because y'all would already move this battle you see you can't show up at work and be afraid to do what they hired you to do show up as yourself and let god get the glory solve the problems get paid and get the promotion somebody shout that by the time i get a good swinging he would have chucked he would have took my head off so why would i try to use what can not work because it's what y'all always use and against a conventional fight maybe it'll work but unconventional moments cause for unconventional ways because his ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts so lift up your hands and ask god to give you a here i had to learn a new rhythm and then learning the new rhythm if you're not careful you'll let the pace slow down like your your your in your your anticipation your expectation you'll run your hurry and you'll start going god well i know what you sent me here i know that i'm here i know i'm in this moment i know i can help i know i can contribute but i don't know how to do it i don't know what it is and then people people have a sense of putting an expectation on you different thankfully not pastor hannah but people have an expectation because you go a different way you add something different you say them and they try to put you in a box you feel yourself starting to close in claustrophobic and get by standing then you just say i'm just going to diminish never mind forget it i'll just fade out and fade to the black and move to the side and then god wakes something up inside of you and said but if you do that then you don't do what you've been called here to do if you if you try to change how you dress and change how you look and change how you preach and change how you lead then you don't get the benefit of why god calls you here if you if you be quiet if you be silent if you allow yourself to be crushed to the expectations of other people because you move different or lead different than the way and i'll never get the glory out of your life and it's a fight inside of your mind when you come to a moment and you're supposed to expand and breathe but everything around you wants you to conform to what was and god caused you to be a change agent and help to bring things to the next but yeah every time you run up against change you feel resistance what do you do with the resistance what do you do with the resistance do you run away or do you run to it if you run away you retreat and the revelation dies if you run to it into it know that god built you and birth you for such a time as this then god gets in behind and everything about the moment changes i was in a space where i was ready to retreat not go nowhere but just turn it down turn it down submit new life is a strong culture it's strong but god started to show me and teach me how to contribute and how to serve and how to lead and how to instrument and i started listening to pastor he used to say this is a big shift when you turn it you got to turn it in ways of strategy and what god can train you in one season of doing he can give you a strategy on how to do in another season and so you don't work with the same strength of the same effort but you work smarter not harder and when god is dropping you into a moment i'm telling you that the you that god has called for in this moment should not be suppressed or oppressed but instead god's about to give you a revelation of how you can do what he called you to do inside of what he called you to do but you have to be willing to run to it don't retreat from it to reach for it and to release it can you lift your hands have you been in a similar space feeling stuck feeling unsure feeling uncertain feeling insecure can you come to the altar and join me just just for three minutes just come quickly to the altar just as a moment of movement i'm not running from it i'm running to it i've been stuck i've been broken i've been confused i've been a little second guessing i'm not certain i'm not sure my wings feel a little clip my imagination feels a little distorted i'm not certain how to navigate how to move but god i know you called me to this moment and i know you want to do something strategic in my life lift your hands all over the room i know i know i know i know i'm here to serve i know i'm here to help i know i'm here to add value i know i'm here to bring about and cultivate some change i know you've given me talent history understanding skills ability and god used my life can you tell them to use me can you lift your hands and say use my life god in this moment in this time in this world in this ministry in my family in my home in my life i won't run from it i'll run to it i won't be silenced i won't be afraid yeah it's a sacred moment on the altar i lift up your voice with your hands lifted up just the voices just your voices come on you're gone yeah yeah yeah i won't try to wear it i won't try to wear it the way they want me to wear it i do it differently i do what you told me to do in your way
