7 Weird Fighting Games We Swear We're Not Making Up (Part 2)

[Music] we've spoken before on the channel about some truly bizarre fighting games that made construction vehicles punch each other or decided that the story of les miserables could only truly be told through the medium of one-on-one fistfights turns out we were only scratching the surface because fighting games are freaking wild folks seriously check these guys out what's the best religion some would say it's a controversial topic but not develop a digital crafter which has found a way to settle the question once and for all by having a bunch of deities fight each other and seeing who emerges victorious the victory is mine that's the premise of fight of gods a one-on-one fighting game for pc ps4 and switch in which you can finally like marvel vs capcom or smash bros set up your cross franchise dream matches to find out how say zeus would get on against anubis or see how jesus turned the other cheek christ stacks up against noted pacifist buddha if you were worried that maybe the sensitive subject matter would mean that we wouldn't be treated to things like character intros and special moves fear not as we can see from this clip of jesus hulking his way off the cross leaving two giant chunks of wood chained to his fists to smash into athena's face i'm back for the people and his totally sick 10 hit ultra combo [Music] with stages including the garden of eden olympus and the valley of asgard we're sure to settle once and for all which religion is correct which i'm sure will be a big relief to a lot of people i don't know about you guys but i'm rooting for santa claus merry christmas [Music] fighting games with humans doing karate to each other are everywhere these days so it's natural that people will start to look for ways to make things more interesting sometimes though those people will get distracted and start thinking about crabs and that's how something like the upcoming physics-based fighting game fight crab happens in fight crab you play as a crab who wants to fight other crabs oh that's that's it that's the whole story that's the whole story use the left and right sticks to waggle your claws around and your goal is to punch jab and electrocute i guess your enemy crabs until you can flip them onto their back and win also the crabs are giant either that or this is one small city i'll say one thing for fight crab it does have a truly impressive selection of crabs guaranteed if you have a favorite crab you'll find it in fight crab's roster also i've noticed the fact that the crabs can use weapons i guess because holy sh this lobster has a knife this is what marine biologists were trying to warn us about as you can see fight crab's gameplay really rewards the kind of nuanced chess-like strategy that characterize it no okay they're just gonna wail on each other what's next the crabs attach jet engines to their claws and okay fight crab rules this week on wwe cooking kane grills up some delicious raw now some people like mesquite others swear by briquettes let's see what kane prefers hey that's dynamite oh kane i don't think that's what's your favorite part of wrestling games is it the part where the wrestlers wrestle each other well wwe crush hour has got some bad news for you that stuff is for lame nerds we're doing monster trucks now there's the bell this one should be a good one ladies and gentlemen [Applause] oh my goodness what a collision as we learn in the intro the game posits a dystopian future in which wwe owner vince mcmahon controls all television an incredible responsibility to be placed on one person and a responsibility which he uses to make wrestlers fight each other in monster trucks mr mcmahon is now revving up for his most anticipated and some say dangerous debut to date a no-holds-barred battle where the superstars trade in their muscle for muscle cars [Music] so preferable to rupert murdoch each of the 32 playable wrestlers has their own souped-up destruction derby car although as you can see most have opted to remain basically naked to drive them for some reason maybe the air cons bus did each car is fitted with guns also and the aim of the game is to shoot the other wrestlers cars enough that they explode and the wrestler inside dies the whole thing has the feel of a boardroom joke that got way out of hand and ended up actually having to be made into a game by a team of developers who i have no doubt were absolutely not paid enough to have to design a car to represent ric flair [Music] it's not even a limousine guys come on what if the jurassic park franchise could be just the awesome dinosaur fights and somehow chris pratt's character could be somewhere in the middle and incidentally crushed during one of the fights well while i can't help you with the last bit 1999's warpath jurassic park for the original playstation has you covered for the dinosaur fights [Applause] a surprisingly competent 3d fighter warpath jurassic park lets you pick from 14 different real-life dinosaurs to do battle with each other in arenas taken from the movies some of which included roaming livestock you could snack on mid-fight to replenish your health in terms of the fighting however this being dinosaurs were mostly limited to biting and headbutts not always though i'm not sure how historically accurate or biomechanically plausible dinosaurs being able to do judo throws to each other is but that's the beauty of dinosaurs there's literally no way of knowing still we wouldn't be doing our job if we didn't turn to in-house dinosaur accuracy consultant luke westerway for his expert opinion on the realism in warpath jurassic park so luke what do you think of the realism in warpath jurassic park i'm looking at the footage now andy frankly it's astonishing there you have it folks astonishing the real mvp though is this human doing laps in the background who doesn't seem bothered in the slightest that a giant dinosaur fight is happening on his jogging route make a game about this guy someone [Music] some folks look at me and see a certain swagger which in texas is called walking battle for presidency is a pc indie game in which ultra macho versions of us presidents and presidential candidates beat on each other to discover who is the best at being president finally glad we got that sorted out stages include the white house the wild west and the moon which has got to be the most challenging of the settings because for all these statesman's various attributes we're certain that the ability to survive in a vacuum is not among them some of the presidents seemed like more natural fighters than others i'm sure no one doubts that teddy roosevelt could easily wrestle a bear into submission and abe lincoln is rangy and super strong but you've got to imagine that george w bush and ronald reagan are a little out of their depth when facing off against ulysses s grant and his cannon also historical footnote and 11th potus james polk can do dark magic i guess there's something your history books won't tell you [Music] 7 is a 1996 neo geo game that's mostly remembered for its truly bizarre cast of characters these include a farting police robot a levitating android maid and a giant purple cat with a schoolgirl riding around on his back one fight it starts to make more sense when you discover that every character in the game is a parody of a character from somewhere else including totoro jojo's bizarre adventure and the king of fighters and even the plot is a parody of dragon ball with the characters looking to collect the seven waku-waku balls so they can have a wish granted [Music] which is all fun and games until you get to their absolutely savage parody of ryu from street fighter bonus kun who is a living punching bag wearing a headband [Music] look i don't know what he expected to happen he is a punching bag the game's final boss is fernandez a black orb with wings who is the size of a skyscraper luckily you're grown to enormous size for the final fight so you can have a massive kaiju battle with this sentient eight ball through these streets of the city as you can see a ruthless parody of kaiju movies take that godzilla that lizard's had it too good for too long really fight i am no weakling if your biggest complaint about the animated series my little pony friendship is magic is that the ponies aren't constantly battering seven shades of manure out of each other then if we got the game for you k.o yara cruising for a honey whooping them's fighting heard started life as fighting his magic a fighting game based on the my little pony show we just mentioned fighting game fans and fans of the show reacted positively hasbro the owners of the my little pony ip on the other hand reacted not positively on account of how they slapped fighting his magic with a cease and desist it all worked out in the end though as fighting his magic then changed into them's fighting herds a similar animal based fighting game with new characters designed by lauren faust the creator of my little pony friendship is magic my mama don't raise no fools now the game has a bunch of new original characters including cows llamas and unicorns and the gameplay is surprisingly deep and nuanced with the unique twist that all the characters are quadrupeds giving you unusual stances and attacks not seen in many other fighting games still pretty weird though considering how much it all still looks like my little pony you never had a chance maybe call this one friendship is over there
