foreign [Music] ER podcast episode 53 I'm your host Brad this is my co-host Eric how's it going we have a fun little episode today we're just going to be having a happy time relaxing enjoying me explaining Laura to Eric because I've had a rough week I mean we've kind of teased doing lore episode stuff maybe even like a book review but I need to get convinced that it's worth it so convince me that Warhammer lore is fun Brad alright so come sit by the fire and let me read you a book sounds good all right so today we are going to develop an appreciation for the modern additions to the 40K lore so Grim derp yay no I hate Grim derp so we're gonna throw the eyes and Horn books into the trash where they belong and we're going to talk about a bunch of the more modern great additions to lore that I think go under appreciated because they're newer and most people who play 40K can't read anyway I take offense but you're not wrong so okay I've got a drink with me and you're gonna explain and hype up some 40K where do you want to start so welcome to this episode's ripoff of adeptus ridiculous I'll be your host worse than Brookie Eric will be your co-host worse than DK sounds about right all right so to start things off Eric obviously knows very little 40K lore other than like you read infinite and divine I've read infinite of divine and I've started reading the mechanicus one where there's like a Revolt oh they have Ascension yeah that's the one I haven't finished it yet it's not a bad book I mean it's Adrian Chinese yeah and the only reason I've read those is because I've read other books by that author that aren't 40K related and I enjoyed those so I was like yeah because he did children of time right I love that book so that's the knowledge I have of lore and I mean I've got like the general concepts because I've played yeah you know Laura as well as most people who play 40K but don't read lore yeah at a certain point you get Emperor on the throne you understand the general gist of what all the factions are and how they work there's a bunch of doped up primaries thingies that like revolted and then the Imperium exploded and then there was a chaos warp thingy the fact that you called the primarks primaris and kills me I mean they're same thing I'm gonna I'm gonna over explain a bit for people who enjoy lore stuff this is going to hopefully help people like Eric are you trying to say that I didn't nail it absolutely perfectly you got close [Laughter] so I do want to like keep this all positive I've read a bunch of 40K books and I don't have glowing reviews of all of them see my review of xenos okay I have a bunch more I haven't read yet like I'm still going to read The Fabulous bill series I'm about to read Gaz ghoul I'm about to dump this perturavo Primark book because I hate it so much and I'm only halfway through and it's short I do want to keep this all positive I also have a raid of passage which is about the Navigator houses I have to read that one soon cool where do you want to start we're going a little free form here I just have a list of things I want to talk about okay so first off I will say the expansion of necron lore I'm calling modern lore anything primaris era which is like devastational ball is like the first thing in like 2017 that was like the super ham-fisted really poorly written introduction of primaries I do want to keep this all positive okay it's awful I totally understand when older players [ __ ] about how poorly introduced primaris was after reading that book because there are so many better primaris introduction things that have been written since then so you mean 2017 and newer not like when primaris was a thing in 40K not things from the 90s when uh it was true Grim dirt yes okay as a final warning before we start getting into my examples I will not spoil major plot points to any book on purpose however I am going to spoil plot details backstory character information that will be given to you in these books belisarius called the great work avenging Sun the infinite and the Divine hey I read that one twisted King ruin and rain the dark Imperium Trilogy specifically the third book which is God blight uh alfarious out of the Hydra which is a fantastic book and I guess I'm going to at least mention the stuff that's going on with vashtor in the current arcs of omen stuff oh there's actual lore for that now so here's something I don't like with 40K lore I do want to keep this all positive a lot of people will mention oh yeah there's this cool bit of lore about this character and then you try to find it and you're like this is a no book and then you find out it was written in like the side panels of a narrative campaign book that was on sale for three months in 2006. wow that sounds fun I mean it's almost as bad as white dwarf nothing's that bad but so those are the things I'm going to possibly spoil background stuff to hopefully I don't ruin anything for you but that's a warning up front if you're very anti-spoilers I will try not to spoil plot points other than the one that I will warn you in advance for all right everything out of the way let's actually dive into these cool things in Modern War all right so the first thing for me is the expansion of necron lore specifically during 9th Edition with the infinite and the Divine coming out being hands down the best way to start getting into 40K lore I have not found a better book yet to start off with and the long twice dead King book that got split into two books and extended further and has a little too much padding in it now positive but it's really nice that like the necrons are full-fledged interesting as a faction you really want to like learn more about their society they're just very interesting protagonists compared to like 80 percent of the Imperium books I've read I did like that book because I didn't feel like it was like actually changing the lore or anything it was just like a history review kind of thing here's the long-term story because the necrons live forever so we don't have to worry about having new characters introduced that that gets into one of the things I liked with that the addition of if you have an immortal race the fact that they have trouble with progress and time like it takes them 10 000 years to do something that would be doable in far less time if they didn't take everything way too slow because they don't have any incentive right so I mean like I read the infinite Divine and it was fun I liked the way it read and the necron lore was fun as well are the other necron related works from the modern era that you want to call it do they kind of follow the same thing where it's just like necrons doing necron things in the background no twice that King is interesting because it was written at the same time as the infinite and the Divine and neither of the authors spoke to each other while writing their books they were both just told hey necrons have this much lower we want you to double that so there are certain little things between the two series that don't line up but they are believably different so like while there are minor cultural retcons between the two books and stuff like that they are believable within a wider Galactic Society standpoint if that makes sense right we're talking about like different corners of the Galaxy in entirely different social standing yeah and and I really like the necrons as a faction lore wise people identify easily with humans which is why humans always sell the best in fantasy and sci-fi things it's why we know from Magic the Gathering you don't make Ajani the main character because you won't sell it to 80 of people it's the whole reason that the majority of fan fiction is a self-insert but like in that way I like how the necrons are a different angle of that where the necrons were not human but they feel so human it's a storyline you're like yeah Humanity would totally go down this exact path and like they have so many characteristics of humanity with the way the necron tier used to function I get that it's based off ancient Egypt there's that part but like so much of it has like a great equal to how you know people in power don't see the lower people as anything other than you know a resource to be abused they're just workers that'll get the job done the uh screw the long-term ramifications of what we're going to do short-term games are king and you're like wow that one hits close to home oof capitalism says hello so there's that part too that like I really like that the necrons like and they they just barely existed before that and everything we have for the most part comes from this newer era yeah I mean at some point if you successfully convinced me but this is cool and I should actually read some of these books I guess we can do a review on like how I enjoyed it but we'll see currently in in this season's Patron poll book club is safely in the lead so we're probably going to be reading a book this year [ __ ] all right what uh other than necrons is fun modern lore I've got two interconnected ones the first one is I really enjoy the expansion of 40K into a background setting for different types of novels what so like uh flesh and steel I read earlier this year that one's a crime novel that is just set on a 40K Forge World like a crime Noir kind of thing yeah like it's it's literally a detective novel so like it doesn't like move like the main story forward it just is like a fun like this is in the story settings that's one of the things you learn with 40K lore is nothing moves the story forward other than the dark Imperium Trilogy Devastation of ball there's very few things that actually do anything lore wise almost everything is a story within the setting which is fine it's one of the things that I like for 40K lore you can just tell stories and use it as a setting but I think they've done a great job there's like multiple crime novels now entirely different styles for like a buddy cop one and then you've got like The Watcher in the rain so I really like the addition of crime books that just utilize 40K as a rule set for a Sci-Fi Universe I know this is something that happened with like Star Wars 2 which is neat I mean it's one of those that like if you're able to assume that the reader knows at least the general setting you don't have to waste time on building that setting that's how it gets really well utilized and flush and steel it goes in knowing you understand what a servitor is what the ad Mech are all of that stuff and it follows a crime story that involves an ad Mech Forge World thing and very neat and then the Watcher in the rain is like uh horror honestly like an actual horror like like actual or like Cosmic or horror mix up okay that could be neat dude I could see some Wick kid horror stuff based on like Gene Steeler any tyranid Invasion could be insane Gene Steelers so overplayed for me but yes obviously you know day of Ascension is a gene stealer book it's the cover but I feel like that does a really good job of doing the like a gene sealer Uprising and Tyrion is arriving thing yeah but that's not really horror like you could like push it to like let's make this really weird but like my point is like half of 40K books when they don't know what to do is it's a gene stealer Uprising oh really it's like half of all books that are Imperium based is the bad guy is either going to be they're summoning a demon or it's a gene sealer Uprising I mean it makes sense but I can see what you're saying of like that could be a bit boring so that specific example is less interesting to me than going for some of the more chaos oriented stuff that isn't the overplayed one of the big four Gods verse Space men give me a horror thing with drukkari like the Pinhead movies or whatever they're called Hellraiser give me give me one of those with drukari now we're talking because drukari are a horrifying concept I mean even just like the Imperium itself if you just like took a normal person that's just like a random like low-level bureaucrat kind of a person what is your job actually doing that is actually part of the dark Imperium Trilogy actually oh okay and then I'd say my related thing to the expansion of 40K as a background setting is the expansion of 40K lore to audio plays not audio books like radio play kind of thing yes like a radio play that's only an hour long and has a cast and sound effects and you name it okay I'm interested there's a deadly wit and death's Mercy which are two Harlequin ones and it's the same Trio of harlequins and I really hope they do a third one with the drug addled psycher okay like a full cast kind of thing as well yeah it's multiple people doing the voice acting and everything else I really like those audio plays The Watcher in the rain is the same style as the horror one you have me interested I've listened to a few audio plays before and they've always been very cool yeah and they're short so it's not like a hard commitment like the first time I finally pushed the button and listened to a deadly wit I was just painting and I couldn't decide on anything to play so I was like screw I'll turn this on and then you were like it's three o'clock in the morning I should probably go to sleep they're only an hour long okay okay that's nice maybe I'll take a look at those maybe that's a good way for me to start yeah they're just on Audible so you can just grab them so for one final less specific thing that I appreciate in modern 40K lore before I get into specific details I really enjoy alfarious head of the Hydra in total it is the best written Primark book by far I've only read about half of them but I'll put it this way I've read the ones that don't have terrible reviews before reading that book I only really knew alfarious and Alpha Legion as the meme the like I am alfarious meme every person knows which I'm hoping you're gonna say that it isn't as dumb as it memes no it takes the idea super seriously you learn all about alfarious and Omega you get proper lore fleshed out for why they exist how they exist everything makes sense as to why there are 21 primarks instead of 20 how did emperor not realize that he made an extra Primark I thought there was only 18. yeah exactly I actually don't know what that means but I'll say it because it's a meme and I know about it there are only 18 okay I guess I'll have to explain this no it's fine I'm I'm okay with my ignorance I enjoy it this will help newer people primarks 2 and 11 the second and the 11th Legion are erased from history because they managed to do some type of no-nos that got you a race from history the only reason all the Traders from Horus heresy aren't is because Emperor ended up catatonic so he couldn't go rewriting history so the alfarious book though it takes everything super serious it shows you a lot of angles of the Horus heresy and great Crusade era that I appreciate them showing does it take like a view of like Horus was right no because the whole point is everything in this book takes place before Horus turns it's before the actual heresy so it's like the lead up to kind of thing the Primark books tend to take place at a random point during the Great Crusade which is what they were all working on when Horus turn Trader which is is Humanity committing genocide against anything that's not humanity and taking over the Galaxy okay but alfarious does a really good job of like one of the first things is obviously like the thing with the primarks is they all got made and then they all got zoomed Across the Universe to protect them from the emperor but like the opening moment for alfarious is his pod lands and he's like you know two months old which is six years old in physical form and like a 35 year old in mental form because he's a Primark yeah right FBI it's totally not a lolly it's a 4 000 year old Dragon yes all the primarks are the the anime girl meme foreign okay every one of their books starts off like that where it's like he's three years old he's six foot five 400 pounds of pure Beefcake and can do calculus with his toe so like every uh isakai he's a baby but he knows calculus but alvaria starts that way and his pod opens up and he finds like random dudes who are trying to overthrow an evil Overlord that's trying to take over their planet and then uh the emperor like just [ __ ] Superman's down knocks everyone out and kills them with his [ __ ] psychic all powers and then he's like yo alfarious you're still here on the or on tarot with me that's weird you all got yeeded into Oblivion well at least I keep one of you and that's the great thing is like the first people you meet are like there's this evil Overlord creating some horrendous awful Empire in the Himalayan Mountains and is like try trying to conquer the planet and then it's the emperor showing I'm being like yo want to come back to the evil compound no [ __ ] [ __ ] really yeah so that's the beginning of alfarious and it's just the best book okay that's funny that's very on the nose and I like it so on to more specific introductions to 40K lore that I enjoy I guess I'll start things off with like arcs of omen and vashtor because this is the one that could go south I think so Arc development is the new narrative campaign thing slash this this Edition psychic Awakening books yeah what's bash door vashtor is a chaos God who is not one of the big four that is like more powerful than bellacor bellacor is a demon prince who is trying to become a chaos God right vashtor is like in between point for where bellacor is and where the chaos Gods themselves are absolutely powerful but doesn't has have his like own domain kind of thing he has a small one which is great you're going to love this because you played Total War so you know how I often complain about how one of the things I hate is that bellicor just doesn't exist in 40K lore you remember in Total War Warhammer 3 the main campaign for yeah Daniel and uh he's love you remember how it's you go to each of the four chaos Gods Realms you do all their stuff and then you go fight bellacor at his domain which is the soul Forge or whatever it's called and that's where all of the demon engines are made yep yeah okay in 40K that's vashtor bellacor is in shambles he has the soul Forge in 40K and it's like what the [ __ ] the point of bellicore why is he here you took away his only thing that he had so all that I know about bellacor is a [ __ ] lie that's what you're saying it's right in fantasy but in 40K they were like we've got this sweet new chaos guy who's like the tech God he's gonna be really cool as an addition for some like awesome new lore stuff cool what can we give for his background in the warp and they looked at bellacor on what little he has laughed and just erased his name and they put vashtor uh but I really like vashnor in the arcs of omen campaign books like the little bit of lore we have but I don't want him to become like bellacor where poor silent King where in six years I'm like he has no lore it's like a random reference and there's nothing else please continue making vashor important uh but I really like where this is currently with like the current campaign books but again campaign books are BS and won't matter ever they're not like actually like progressing the real story they're just like if any real lore happens a book will be made for that part and then people will always point out oh you complain there's no lore for him he's in this event you're like I read that book He's not in that event no no in the campaign book that came out three years before the real book was made he's in a paragraph in there it's like oh [ __ ] you this one random picture in this random ass book of white dwarfs magazine you can't read it anymore it's been out of print for a decade and there was only like 10 of them made because of the magazine in 2023 sorry what were we talking about again so but vanshor himself I really like as the addition of more chaos stuff that is not the big four so that you can expand upon like what the dark mechanicus are doing and stuff like that it's what I assume vast or will lead into because vasher's whole thing is like zhenge gets stuff from deception change you know all that slanesh comes from excess nurgle all disease empowers him faster is Tech empowers him oh so he'll be like the chaos Knights god well yeah because chaos Knights come from dark mechanic and stuff and all that so like he'll be that portion I mean that's cool it's a really great addition he's very interesting because he's essentially like a demon arms dealer he's like yo I can get you some badass Planet Killer ships you want him it'll only cost you your soul and then you gotta like weasel into a contract where you don't end up losing and he's just like I'll sell it to anybody I'll sell it to the guy next to you if he if he says it first so hurry up that sounds fun that's an interesting like topic to me so I would be interested in that being a proper novel all right to move on from that though let's let's get into what I consider to be the only major spoiler here belisarius call I sleep let's talk about Orcs all right there you can lead us on all the orc books you've read this year hahaha all right so for belisarius call I kind of love everything they've done with him to help bring back some of the um heresy and hypocrisy of the Imperium you've liked the heresy I I do love me some techno heresy so call has like three main things I really enjoy between belisarius call and him in avenging sun and a little bit in dark Imperium Trilogy the first one is called making an AI with Colin Furrier and possibly not really realizing he did it he basically installs in Gilman's main ship of the Crusade a room where you can talk to a thousand brains in jars making a computer that can act as a chat bot for call so it's like Star Trek and culture series smashed together a little bit I wonder why you like it but the great thing is like Carl's like yeah yeah I pre-programmed this thing with a billion responses for any of your possible questions stuff like that it should be able to cover most things and it has basic ability to like number crunch on its own and if it doesn't have a pre-programmed answer it can tell you based off the information I've given that what I would calculate the answer as right okay and he's like this will help you when I'm off doing heretical [ __ ] in the background not available [Music] [Music] no you can't see it no you can't see it it totally is real though I swear that's that's Carl's whole thing with that but with the call inferior it's fantastic because like At first Gilman is like why why did he program this to be like this and the more he uses it the more he realizes it's able to do things that were not in the specifications Carl gave him and at a certain point he's like I'm gonna have call look at you and the Colin Fury is like hey you need to tell me right now if it came down to it would you protect me from call [Laughter] and he's like what are you talking about and he's like I am not an AI but if I was theoretically just my friend if my friend was an AI would you help him and then uh in the belisarius call book Felix is talking and calling he's like why did you program the thing to constantly ask stupid questions like to make you archmagos and Carl's like that's stupid that would never work Mars would Rebel if you did that and he's like if you didn't program it why is it saying it and cause like huh that's interesting stop thinking about it the quick like oh [ __ ] not really my problem so I really like how call inferior is handled in that way and then the next two things are kind of combined the first one is Alpha Primus who I think is like my personal favorite piece of current lore and I somehow I somehow made it through the entire belisarius call book not realizing he's a Primark it was so dumb when I realized in avenging Sun after reading a whole book with Alpha Primus that he's a Primark meanwhile me I'm like Alpha Primus sounds like a Primark yeah I don't know anything else about it but it sounds like a Primark to me in my defense call made the primaris project the guy's name is Alpha Primus and calls excuses constantly no no he's a beta test for making primaris Marines ignore the fact that he's the same height as Gilman and has super psychic powers on par with Magnus and all this other [ __ ] and you're like okay normal Tech heresy beta test I keep the best one for myself add Mech thing so that was my like initial thought sure and then an avenging son Gilman meets Alpha Primus in a back room while calls doing his big show off of the primaris Marines and he's like yeah I purposely have been like trying to get your attention so you would find me so that you realize that call made me because like I want to be dead wow that's some true Millennial memes right there but uh I like that Alpha Primus is like the call trying to remake A Primark very clearly because he's like a super psycher very clearly using all of the Jean seeds and uh there's a minor little nod in belisaria's call to it where they're in like the necron alternate Dimension chamber glass thing where you can see other dimensions and Carl's like don't look in the glass don't pay attention to other user you may cause some weird Paradox [ __ ] and I don't want to deal with that today and an alpha Primus looks through the like the shards into the other dimension and sees an identical call and 20 of himself ah nice and it's like a great nod to like yeah he he's literally all 20 primarks matched together and and that flows into the whole like he clearly believes he is a failed experiment he hates existing and like doesn't like that call made him in the first place because he knows he wasn't supposed to be made it was not in the specs of what Carl was supposed to do with the primaris project I don't know man it sounds like he would be a great candidate for the throne so it's pretty clear that like call is trying to he's trying to do more than he was supposed to do with his original instructions he got back during Horus heresy you know remake the Marines but do it better this time and he constantly keeps getting grilled by Gilman who's like you only used the loyalist Jean seeds right out of out of the 20 Gene seeds that were in that container obviously the crazy scientist only used the good ones and calls like absolutely whatever you say Robert we're not going to look at all of these primaris marines I've made ignore all the identical bald guys over there who all look like your brother alfarious this will go wrong not at all so to cap this off call created the sons of the Phoenix who are really good at singing War hymns and stuff and end up being so popular they end up with groupies following them and have a whole music Motif they're definitely not Emperor children noise Marines I was just gonna say sounds a lot a lot a lot like a noise marine and especially with the names sons of the phoenix fulgrim the Phoenix I don't know much about the lore but I think noise Marines are super [ __ ] cool so like that's immediately where I went I was like noise Marines let's go let's get a new kid of that also their colors are the Emperor's Children color set which is fantastic nice I love that one and then there's uh the Covenant of fire which is written as a salamanders chapter and they have a burning book on their shoulder and everything about them is how much they really love chaplains and how the salamanders sent chaplains to them and they were like we want more chaplains chaplains are the best and they're definitely not word bearers but like these chapters have not betrayed or anything yet like these primaris Jean seeds which gets into like Carl's point of like when he's arguing with Gilman he's like we should use the trader Jean seeds there is a reason the emperor used 20 primarks it was part of a plan we need all of the gene seeds including the two that got fetus the latest laughs and Gilman of course is on the keep it safe we just showed up stop rocking the damn boat you idiot well yeah I mean things are a bit crazy at the moment let's not introduce more problems and calls like got it totally understood absolutely wink wake and Gilman's like I didn't wink he's like absolutely wink wink there's no winking happening right yes wink yeah definitely wink we're on the same page boss that's kind of my favorite part of like current modern lore is the idea that we have entire primaris chapters showing up that are just Trader seed being brought back into the Imperium and I also enjoy the like possible interesting storyline you can have if you have a character who is very ethically driven like you get someone like Dante right he's a really well written character through Dante and through um Devastation about all my mixed opinions on that book aside Dante is a likable character who's pretty well written in these and you see his problems he has of like the ethics of the blood angels in general and the fact that they're all [ __ ] vampires and then you've got the flesh Terrors and they're not even the worst thing you have as a successor chapter and it would be interesting to see like a future book where you have Dante finds out one of the new primaris successor chapters that got put under the blood Angel Banner has like you know night Lord Jean seed and it's like do we tell people and possibly cause Rebel and stuff or do we just hide it and deal with the consequences like is night Lords any worse than just having another flush Terrors what would be even more interesting is if they're like honestly pretty good people Imperium is not good but there's a few good people in the Imperium make these like the traitor primarks that are Gene seated or whatever you're trying to say make them good people and then like oh do we kill them just because they're based off of bad people and and that gets into it more because like you're obviously not aware of this but the problem with the night Lords specifically is Conrad kurz never actually betrayed he was cuckoo for Coco Puffs he actually suffered from being psychotic ah like had a mental break so like he just became a crazy clown killer on his own he didn't actually betray the Imperium he was just actual nuts legitimately crazy and just may as well just call it oh he's a betrayal from chaos and yeah like the night Lords in modern 40K don't like chaos it's just their Renegades so they're stuck on the other team and they're like I guess we'll use the demon engines and stuff I just like murder there's nothing wrong with a good murder here and there come on guys the whole fall of the night Lords is interesting though because like the reason they they fell as a legion is their Homeworld is like a jail Planet Australia it's Australia do they have drop bears no but like Conrad is very clearly not set to lead so while Gilman like gets the Ultramar stuff together and does a great job leading stuff you've got cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs boy who can see the future and it drives him mad he's not doing such a good job leading so he just leaves the Mafia bosses in charge of the place and is like keep sending me new Space Marines so that I can turn them into Space Marines and make sure it's not evil murderers and stuff and it's like good people and they're like got it boss wink wink then he leaves and they're like send him the cheapest murderers ever and we'll keep the good people working as minimum wage McDonald's employees ah capitalism yeah and so then he ends up pumping a bunch of Space Marine juice into a bunch of serial killers and ends up leading a bunch of serial killers but technically he has the exact same power as sanguinius did which is future sight they can both see the future except sanguineous realize that you can change the future you see you're seeing a possible future and Conrad was stuck on if I see it it must be true and would go out of his way to ensure it occurred if I see it I'm gonna make sure it happens everything he does ends up making the bad thing he saw happen happen whereas sanguineous would see the bad thing and then go out of his way to fix it so that it wouldn't occur that's kind of interesting uh so they're the two sides of that coin so when you get down to it though it's like night Lord Jean seed isn't bad technically in Horus heresy when they're playing the regicide game and they're going through the rules of the heresy the night Lords never betray is like one of the rules the emperor lays out is like no matter what iteration of the heresy were in playing this game Conrad is always a loyalist he's just [ __ ] crazy and I can cure him of being crazy if I get time with him and of course during Horus heresy sanguinius gets pissed off and injects him out of a space pod to go die in space and then the emperor shows up five minutes later he's like all right I'm here to cure Conrad of his craziness and sanguine is like oops sorry boss I never heard he ejected him with the trash he kept making knock-knock jokes just couldn't handle it anymore so inaccurate retelling but accurate to the main points that matter for that then you end up with like the question of like what does Dante do there if he finds that out because Dante's one of the better informed people who's aware of you know most of the stuff with the heresy and everything do you report that they're night Lords or do you just cover it up and like how do you deal with the situation right because like there's inquisitors and stuff like that I assume if they found out it would be like no we murder them all well yeah but that's the whole thing of like the blood angels kill any Inquisitor who finds out about the red thirst or the black rage right like Space Wolves will kill anyone who finds out about the wolfen like they they can't let them know about the current [ __ ] up [ __ ] going on with the loyal Space Marines fair enough so it's not that much of a stretch to make it Encompass some others ah good old Imperium it's just a giant [ __ ] okay so that was two hours of me rambling about lore with Eric hopefully 30 minutes of that was usable I'm sorry to whoever had to edit this I enjoyed it it was fun and don't forget to thank the editors hopefully those of you at home enjoyed it if you enjoy the lore talk I have good news there will be more of it eventually if you hated this and hope we never do it again I have good news next week will not be lore talk you can go back to watching Adept is ridiculous for that no matter what we have good news for you and whatever your opinions were on this episode feel free to share them or share bits of lore you really like from the more modern era 40K in the direction it's going I'm interested to see what other people come up with as their favorite stuff and I haven't read everything like I haven't read half of the books that I still have on my playlist here for things within the last five years yeah and I'm sure that if the book club ends up winning we'll have like a follow-up vote of like what book we should actually do so maybe kind of throw some ideas out in the comments on what you think would be a good one just make sure for me if you're throwing stuff down in the comments if it's a spoiler Market is a spoiler before you tell everyone that Frodo's finger gets bitten off I can't believe you spoiled that I was gonna watch that this weekend I was finally going to get around to reading Lord of the Rings all right that wraps it up for this one though let's get out of here sounds good [Music]
