welcome to our slash I don't work here lady where we share stories about folks that go into other businesses and have irate customers mistake them for employees and the first story is how I almost got a written warning at the job I no longer worked at hi this is my first post here apologies in advance if I'm not good on the exact format I've watched some channels on YouTube that read these things so I thought I'd share some of my own stories got a bunch more coming as I'll remember them this is a bit of an R slash I don't work here lady combined with an R slash malicious compliance this may be a bit long to set the tone hope you enjoy so little context I'm a dude in my mid-20s used to work for this outsourcing company that was basically a call center I won't get into details as it's not necessary for this story just that it was a call center thing is I had quit for about two weeks got a new job and was enjoying a small vacation until I started the new one also as bureaucracy is a B in my country in Eastern Europe I found myself needing some extra paperwork for my new job from my old job that I didn't know about initially I kind of expected that so I did end up going twice back to my old job for that when I went there I also visited my ex colleagues on the floor to chat second time I went there I stumbled into a guy I got along with well he had also worked there he had also quit he was in there also for some extra paperwork not the same new job and okay dude which I knew is the boyfriend of a witch of a team lead I think you're getting the idea who this will be about also have no idea how he put up with her we chat about our new workplaces while waiting for HR to get our stuff and we were both going down to the floor to talk to our old colleagues so I'm hanging around cubicles trying not to stand out talking to some friend about how it feels to be free we'll call him be the witch is w BF is witch's boyfriend me is obviously me I was sitting in a chair at an empty computer there were practically no calls at that time of the day I had put my jacket on the chair so I sort of looked like I was at work now extra context me and friend were pretty much like little rascals we'd get into trouble to mess with stingy managers but we always know the limits lots of malicious compliance stories there to which they could do anything to us some people were after our heads due to this because we weren't the obedient little sheep and stood up for their BS occasionally unluckily for them we never actually broke rules so they didn't have grounds to do anything to us except threaten us suddenly I hear the witch come up to us sorry translation will be a bit different than the original dialogue due to language differences which yo don't you guys have better things to do friend there are no calls witch and friend and silence for a few seconds I had my back turn to her thought she left thought her beef was with friend me yeah man so which cuts me off which you know I was talking to you to me me I turned to look surprised at her which are you playing stupid now because I can write you off you're not wearing your headset your computer is even on sleep mode from doing nothing but talk since you came did you even log into everything I have all the reasons to issue that warning don't push it me um slightly smirking couldn't contain my amusement okay but you do know that which cuts me off again which I do not care get back to work me no I don't which cuts me off again which okay suit yourself I'm like trying not to laugh hard astonished then she bolts off yeah she didn't really know I had quit she was not a team lead on my section so I didn't work directly under her but she was the only supervisor on shift also there were five people at work at that time was very early on a Friday with a very low staff requirement point is I was the sixth person there her math should have ticked in her brain that I was an extra there me and friends start laughing ah raise off as soon as she left she went in the direction of HR in the meantime me and friend maliciously just agreed to play along to poke fun at her stupidity if she keeps it going she couldn't do anything to friend and especially to me anyway boyfriend comes over to us as he had noticed the conversation and her irate tone towards us and her stomping off boyfriend what was that all a friend barely containing his tears of laughter man she's about to give me a written warning because he wasn't working and was talking with me boyfriend is wide-eyed turns around probably to tell which but friend grabs his shirt friend come on don't ruin this it's going to be good boyfriend I don't like this just don't take it too far okay I got enough crap on my head anyway Oh PS he was there to break up with her he was searching for his balls to do it though guess he wanted to get some revenge for something I don't know but we didn't know this which comes back about fifteen to twenty minutes later two papers in her hand for disobedience and another one for work avoidance or some Sh she filed my name and my work email my phone number things she knew which so here's how it's gonna go you can loudly apologize for being lazy get back to your desk sit down and be quiet and I'll only give you one warning for work avoidance or you can simply sign both and you're one strike away from being fired at this point friend didn't want to get one himself so he folded and acted busy he was still listening though trying really hard not to laugh I was still in the respective chair was actually about to go as I had grown bored waiting for me rolling my eyes look I'm which cuts me off which notices my reaction all right what's your agent ID I burst into a short laugh I'm like screw it I wasn't gonna actually do this I tried to avoid it so queue in my malicious compliance me ABC one two three four I actually gave her my old agent ID she smirks victoriously she finally got me she gives me the two warning papers tells me to sign them and agree and walks back to her computer really close to us as she had to take other details out to fill them I look at her she looks at me which you done I don't say anything I just look at her waiting I knew the moment she was going to input my ID she would see a big bold red and active next to my name and she would be locked out of my profile as the ex-employees data becomes private to most people I see her frowning and confusion muttering up what looks at me with wide eyes which are you logged in at this point I laugh hard and I laugh with tears and I don't stop for like a minute friend also starts chuckling unable to hold it anymore which starts yelling cut this crap out me now serious I stand up me I've been trying to tell you that I don't work here anymore I quit two weeks ago which then why are you here me I simply came for some extra papers I need for my new job and came here to keep friend company and take him out on a break her jaw is now close to hitting the floor and she's red from both shame and anger she had no power and it frustrated her which I'm calling security you're not allowed to be here technically she was right practically her boyfriend was there too so she'd have to kick him out to me so I guess I'm taking boyfriend then right which realizes she's in a pinch starts to sort of panic as she's running out of things to say or do suddenly boyfriend shows up boyfriend which you were supposed to take a break I've been waiting an hour for you can we go now I need to talk to you in private which not now I'm kind of busy being made to look like an idiot as you can see and you're just standing there doing nothing boyfriend cuts are off boyfriend you know what I was going to tell you in private and be nicer not to make a scene but you just proved my point you're like some angsty teen who never listens to others and can't even properly apologize or admit at least that you're wrong you're always up in arms about others like you're some symbol of perfection I'm done with your crap proceeds to do a 180 and leave now my jaw was on the floor as well I didn't know if boyfriends plans beforehand it's like all the planets aligned that day I'm pretty sure I could hear friend telepathically yelling Dee she starts tearing up now I don't like watching someone cry she may have been a class BB but I don't hold grudges me look I'm sorry but I really didn't come here to upset you you just didn't listen which now almost crying fine just get out I comply friend comes after me he took a break we have a laugh in front of the office building he's also feeling sorry for in a way but we both agree that she kind of dug herself into that hole I later find out from my actual ex team lead with which I got along well that she almost took the day off as which called her sobbing blaring about her boyfriend and me fortunately my ex team lead was a nice but no BS kinda lady she basically berated her like a mama would do to her bratty kid after doing a boo-boo later called me to also tell me I should probably not come back on the floor again I say I won't need to anyway and I don't like drama I'm glad to say that to a degree the story ends wholesomely has also reported by friend and others which his attitude improved over time to where she actually made friends beyond bootlickers the experience must have been a cold shower for her realizing she's not the center of the universe the second story is strapped in boys and girls this one's a doozy we don't sell pizza because you have the wrong number the end result of this story which I will tell you up front is that we lost the ability to order from several local Pizza Hut's for life used to we had a phone number that was very similar to a Pizza Hut their number was 5 5 5 4 5 5 5 5 7 5 and ours was 5 5 5 4 5 5 5 5 1 5 now these two numbers are commonly mixed up for obvious reasons this was back before the days of cellphones and everyone having their own personal number and we actually had to get a caller ID because of this for years we had this Pizza Hut's client base call our house about 50/50 split sober and drunk and order pizzas the thing is people will not listen when you tell them sorry wrong number we would have a drunk person call back four to five times and then begin screaming into the phone I know this is an effing Pizza Hut you a-hole or give me the number or I'll kick your a this was pretty normal and the Pizza Hut was even aware of this and profuse ly apologized when we would call them never giving us anything for free though despite the massive inconvenience of the phone ringing off the hook well Pizza Hut corporate then pays for an advertisement on paper billboard and phone book and guess what they botched the number they put our number on the things for the phone number as one of the locations in our town for Pizza Hut's Pizza why because ones in sevens are the same number apparently the phone calls we get effing explode it goes from like three to five phone calls a day to like 100 to 200 initially we were directing people with a message that simply said this is not pizza at their number is xxx xx it didn't end we would get calls with people screaming into the voice recording I want an effing pizza this is BS I'm going to kill whoever doesn't answer this effing phone aren't boomers great we got that Sh all the time from older people I cannot tell you how many times I've been told to kill myself for trying to direct someone to the correct place and for some effing reason no one ever listens well upon this happening my dad calls into the Pizza Hut and says look all we want is to not have to change our number if you guys will please change yours or pay for ours to be changed it was like a ten dollar convenience fee or something we will stop getting your D phone calls the manager cussed my dad who had him on speakerphone calling him an SH load of names and forgetting him bad reviews as well as losing customers to his branch which is locally owned what an effing joke it's costing their business a solid 10 grand easy over a phone number why not just change it I don't know my dad looks at the phone hangs up and says okay a-hole you want to be like that about it my dad then instructs my 17 year old self and my sister to take all calls from now on if it rings pick it up take the order and say okay your pizzas should be there in 1.5 hours then when they call back to tell them sorry the driver just left and if they call a third time say well I can get you on the phone with my manager but he's probably going to kick your a if you keep complaining and then switch the phone with someone else and have them say listen here B you aren't getting your pizza and we're keeping your money F and get over it or something along those lines anyway two weeks pass and my dad tries to get said Pizza Hut to change our number for free never pointing out that they effed up their ad as apparently they were completely oblivious to this fact again the manager screams at my dad saying I don't have the money to change your effing number we even tried calling other Pizza Hut's to get the issue resolved and their corporate with no real luck fair enough it's game on time now B why for two reasons one my dad got a phone with a transfer button and two because summer was rolling around and me and my sister loved effing with people over this it was a really bad influence on us to be honest we fielded phone calls every day all day long we had friends come over and they loved partaking in the same thing we had a general plan if other call would get a pizza-delivery on the other calls we would get them really peeved off talking sh to them and saying okay do you want to speak with my manager and just cold transfer them to Pizza Hut it took six more weeks of us doing this and the Pizza Hut closed a few weeks before they closed we got a phone call from Pizza Hut corporate who more or less threatened us with a cease and desist sounded like they didn't really understand what was actually happening as it accused us of stealing their phone calls LMFAO we called their corporate and explained what was going on and even played our recordings of talking with them before about the issue and ignoring us all they said is you would better stop this is illegal over and over we didn't stop they were aware of what was going on and didn't want to do anything about it to fix their fubar a few weeks after the owner lost his job he called her house and was trying to argue with my dad about how bad of a person he was because I lost money and got my a beat several times apparently we had peeved off a few people so bad they actually went in and attacked him and other staff to this day it cracks me up that a company can be so oblivious and it's the single reason I don't believe we live in anything close to a meritocracy anyone in this position who has any merit would instantly change the number but not a corporation who has money to sue and not a middle manager who has an ego problem thank you for listening and don't forget to like
