[Music] on this episode we're going to take the 1969 cancer Camaro and we're gonna put in that really really good stuff all right so here's the dealio on this here project and go ahead and not believe me that's fine but I never cut corners ever but we're gonna have to on this hair project I've got my 70 Chevelle coming back from paint for like the third time and I need some more room I've got so much junk keeping in here that I don't even know what to do with it so I decided to go ahead and dig into the old top shelf and get all my swap meet and garbage can parts all the good stuff and we're gonna kind of source a nagger everything together and and get on some persuaders and make it happen first goal is maybe three or four cylinders running I'd be nice to like have it move on its own power and potentially get onto the trailer second goal burnouts definitely burnouts so follow along and you can continue to laugh at me also don't forget find me on Facebook like seeing your guys's projects and your rides and all your Frankenstein stuff so post it up let me take a little gander at her and hit the subscribe button and follow that's 70 Chevelle build you're not going to want to miss that's coming up here pretty soon I'm gonna give you a high-level overview of all the goodness we got going on here and then I got to get wrenching because I legitimately it's a Saturday at 5 o'clock I've got you know three four hours tonight tomorrow to get this done so this here is the good motor were putting in guy said it ran he had one eye I trust them let's hope it does there's my old swap meet masking tape for sale price that's a real rock crusher let's hope it works I've got a shifter or two somewhere I've got some shorty headers we'll throw on it and that'll be good enough for exhaust loud pipe save lives the car has a radiator we all know you don't need hood so we won't worry about that and what really excites me this is already a hole in the floor not the one for your feet but the one for the shifter that's really crudely horribly cut in so we should be good I'm hoping you know we don't have to worry about all that digital stuff and I think I have a key so we're off to a really good start at making this happen so I'm gonna make a parts list main thing I need is just a fuel pump and a bearing thrust bearing and I think we'll just spray-paint it and that'll make it run so I'll check in here with you a little bit all right so round one auto parts trip completed oh boy my wife is gonna be little upset she needs Windows I need parts so here's what we got so far most importantly is our engine rebuild kit you know you've got to have new rings and stuff like that and I wanted to show you this that was pretty isn't that neat I mean that's how you know they ran when that stuff just pours out like that you know well blow the cobwebs out of her though spark plugs look good I didn't buy any those look brand new no wax up so I'm gonna dig in [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so a quick little update got it cleaned up and you could probably see I just finished rebuilding it I didn't paint the bottom end so that means that I didn't bore it over so she's a factory bore right now but I've got a I thought a clutch this one here was in my garden shed and I think it's probably got one or two good clutch drops left in it and that's probably all we needed so I'm gonna get the flywheel on and put this puppy in there and get the rock crusher bolted up here for you okay [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] well the good news is when I took the bonnet off I found a center console and the front this part whatever the hell it is that's great the bad news is is I kind of really regretting this decision I forgot that it has no brakes the wiring is completely shot you can't see it but it's all twist tied together yeah so but regardless we're gonna still put this in there and make some fire I don't have enough jack stands there under that car in that car and I don't think I have enough Jack so this is gonna be really interesting but we're gonna give her a whirl see if we can ease it on there here we go [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] you probably saw this on one of the previous episodes but I want to show it again because it works like you don't have to spend money really yeah you know it's a terrible distributor buy a tool so when I put all the motors that I like to a check make sure that the oil pumps work and they get oil pressure and then just get everything pumped up because I let Chris buffed up make sure I get the oil in the bearings everything I've dad's chance we're gonna have to crank it for a while so I want to get everything we've done so what I do is I keep the distributor out of it I take a screwdriver and all I did was took a death wheel and cut the end off of it and if I want to use this again I could just slide it back up and if I want to use it as a primer I slide it down and then I chuck it in my grill like this and then all I do is run this down the distributor hole and I can prime my engine you can see in the background here I've got my super special fancy gauges just temporarily hooked up and at the RPM that this drill spins I get about 18 pounds oil pressure and I got it all the way up through the push rods into the rocker so we're definitely good to go so I'm good to go ahead and sink the distributor in you know I don't have to worry about oil pressure firing up all righty really lost track of time but overall is a pretty good night everything's bolted in and I've found some valve covers that I did up and had laying around kind of a wrap my truck through that motors bolted in transmissions not got the distributor in so tomorrow we've got headers starter driveshaft digital electrical lines and then no one seems to carry a radiator hose this for a 69 Camaro so probably just going to get some of those really cool awesome-looking Universal flexi gobber's get some cooling and that water pump is off of like a 74 Chevy pickup so I can't find a water pump pulley for it so that's the other challenge for tomorrow but I'm going to get a few hours of sleep and then get up and hit it again tomorrow okay so day two last day we're getting out really late start I'm hungover a little bit and how many parts stores would you go to three three different parts stores just to find them upper radiator hose yeah we're probably not even gonna get that far on sleep but I hope so because this has got to get out of here tomorrow so I'm going to and I don't know why I can't figure this out it's just blowing my mind but I've got to figure out how to make an upper pulley from the long water pump work about a short water pump that's from a suburban but going on an Impala engine work with maybe a generator bracket is the newer style as a working dozens lining out so I got a dangle all that really quick work on fuel delivery on this car meanwhile Bradley's jacked up and Mountain Dew so he's going to jump inside and they got all the inside stuff right where you gonna put all over there somewhere okay so he's gonna start doing that because we have a seat somewhere around here so we can both the seat in and move it around I'd rather sit on that there five-gallon pail so we're going to go ahead and get started rather you could start cleaning the inside I'm gonna figure this out [Music] [Music] okay so Bradley got the headers on and finally gave up with the old it turns out engineers are a little smarter than I am so the whole pulley wrong water pump thing I had going on my laziness finally kicked in and I just dropped the water pump off the different motor we have laying around yeah seems to be working no pumps in few lines I ran I'm gonna go ahead and put spark plugs in it didn't plan on doing this but the other ones are so bad and I got 10% off since I had to go to three different parts stores so figured Mazal pick them up and I got some plug wires laying around from another car we'll put those in and by the way I'm taking points off and we're going hei I got an hei out of maybe the suburban or something well throw that in get rid of the points of coil and keep on crunching here but we're getting pretty close I'm pretty good working on the phone out here he wants it to look like a Camaro I guess so we're going to finish the front end up on Brad and I think we're gonna cut you guys put the grill on it yeah I'm working on the transmission it's actually looking pretty decent I'll drag you into there in a minute let you see it but I'm gonna get the bolts in the transmission stab the driveshaft in then got to figure out the shifter and linkage which is kind of the next big a little probably the last tool I think everything else is looking pretty decent I'll take you over here I need to take a look so here's kind of where we're at just need to get a belt for the alternator which I'm really not worried about we could fire it up on just a battery the wiring is absolutely atrocious in this thing so that's something else we're going to have to kind of work on bought this car on eBay ran a drive the guy said after I pulled the completely blown up 350 out of it started discovering a lot of this stuff and it's kind of sad sense also it got its name cancer Camaro because this has probably got the worst rust I've ever seen in a first-gen Camaro so I will hit this part in a future episode but like I say I just plan right now is to go hide it in a tree road somewhere and get the Chevelle finished alright so here we go transmission things searching they're singing got some of these doodads lined up pretty good move it that way about a degree 364 got some tailpipes down here I think we're gonna go this I don't know zip tie them up or something but hey gotta get out of the way you know what you want to do is get get your eyes right under where you're working so when the stuff falls it's just like that it's right in your face that's the good stuff got it so one more and then gonna snip the old driveshaft in here and we got trigger all that stuff I don't know Alice fails we'll just stick the hand to the floor and all we needs first gear do some burnouts right so such a bad idea well I've tried all 314 belts in my garage and of course none of them fit and I went to the old oh oh rallies and of course the one they gave me it was like a frigging toyota celica or something so I'm going to show you how I figure out what belt to get and then I take it to them and just say here do this so what we have is a piece of wire right here and I just run this around my pulleys and I take some gaff tape and tape it together as you can see right there and then all I have to do is just slip this off from this in say hey I need about this size well we're getting really close and I hook the fuel line up and even just a gravity-fed fuel pressure completely burst the fuel line back here and so I'm gonna show you what I'm gonna do cuz I'm gonna fix it right and just get some old rubber hose and zip tie it up also you can see why I call this car the cancer Camaro yeah she's pretty bad and someone really crudely put some quarters on it but here's where I'm gonna cut right here the old steroid line and that's my exhaust sup tied up and my fuel line plug her upper seems to be working pretty good so far and I'm just gonna run rubber yeah while I'm back I'm gonna run some spacers so I can fit those pairs that the interweb say are too big to fit but I'm gonna make them fit right now they rub a little bit but well jerry-rigged them on there so when I get these few lines buttoned up and then we're gonna get to cranking on the motor to see what happens alright so probably one of the worst feelings is when you hit the key and smoke comes out of the dash so I chased down a bad ground and found a couple shorts I got that figured out I basically just started cutting everything out then I'll fix later all I need is power to the starter a trigger wire from the starter and power to the distributor which is switchable I found that you can actually pull it right off the old coil just use a test light or a multimeter I'm completely guessing on timing I'm just looking at the rotor and its orientation to the number one ceiling growing here so but how I have it set there I'm guessing that on the band's I'm going to dump some fuel in the carburetor bowl and let her buck see what we get fingers crossed it should fire right off pardonnez down the vent - trying to fill the particle [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] alright call that success look how bad it's smoking oh man smokes like a chimney so really bad lifter knock or some valvetrain noise maybe a few burnout lets you to get her up in there in that five six thousand rpm maybe that'll work its way out but shoot that's good enough to get it on the trailer and go hide it in a tree row so I call this a success two days just in time it's getting dark so thanks for watching hit the subscribe button stay tuned I've got a 6-litre LLS we're gonna put in this very soon
