10 Boss Fight Ideas For Super Mario Maker 2

Mario maker 2 is super fun I love playing other people's levels and trying out all of their ideas a big part of these levels are the final bosses a levels final say a challenge that should be fun challenging and creative a lot of these unfortunately boiled down to just fireball spamming at Bowser which generally is just not fun so today I want to give you all ten boss fight ideas as it was requested by someone who had seen my 150 tips video speaking of which a few of these boss fights will be taken from there and be taken from some of my own levels however I'll go more into depth of us explaining them and how they work also just because these levels are labeled as boss fights doesn't mean you have to actually feature our preset boss like boom boom Bowser and Bowser jr. maybe these could just be a challenging room where you have to try to survive until the timer expires or maybe you could do a fight or something or maybe it's just a challenging room where you have to collect pink coins also each boss fight should have a theme behind it that matches the levels for example if you want to include a boss fight in a level that was based around noteblocks and try to incorporate them into the boss fight also not every level needs a boss fight to just keep that in mind but either way let's jump right into the ten boss fight ideas so for our first room mario has found himself on top of a platform made of bill blasters filled with 1ups while on top of flying munchers this means that every so often the platforms will jump directly above Mario though he sees a skewer ready to crush him luckily there are two more platforms of the same type to each side of Mario Mario then jumps to one of them only to find that there are more skewers there so how does Mario leave well under each of these skewers is a pink coin which will allow for Mario to escape through the key door on the bottom platform this provides for an intense or goofy depending on what music you use challenge now if you want to have a setup like this how it loads is very important you're going to want to make sure that this is set as a separate room so that's a muncher platforms don't get distinct from each other and you're going to want the skewers to be distinct from each other so that it doesn't become impossible to jump between the platforms also another warning is that if the player has a mushroom the damage boosting can really mess up this boss fight so just having Mario be small and have a checkpoint right before this boss fight instead there are two designs for this boss fight which are the pink coin design or a timer design where the player just has to survive when using the timer design move these saws up one block so that the player can't camp here without any worries the reason this spot should be a safe spot during the Red Coins one is because you have to move around to get the red coins anyway so this just allows the player to take a short break just know that when the saws are moved up it makes the initial jump a little bit harder this item can also work as the PALS is the floor however the player will sometimes grab the POW when jumping which would immediately kill them either way this is a really challenging and fun boss fight for a level centered around bill blasters munchers or skewers our next one is against a wiggler mini boss as we could see there's absolutely no way to get to this wiggler even though mario needs to get a key from him however on top of the wiggler is a seesaw with two munchers on each end and since Mario knows mantras can crush wigglers he attempts to move this platform side to side until he eventually succeeds in crushing the wiggler so there are a few important things to keep in mind with this design one makes your bumpers line the edge so munchers can go through but mario can't also while most enemies work with this design I went with a wiggler because it can be crushed it can't be hit by Mario and someone follows him so you can try to bait the wiggler into the munchers the final real thing of note is that ground-pounding can sometimes cause some issues so i'd recommend using this in a theme that isn't Mario you this boss fight is pretty good when used in a level based around seesaws monsters or even wigglers let's just design for one of my levels so here's the code if you want to try it out I'll have a code on screen whenever I talk about one of my own levels so our next one Mario's found himself in a room with boom boom however Mario sees that boom boom has a muncher on his head as a crown meaning he can't or at least since very hard to damage him so what's Mario going to do to escape while Mario sees that there are on/off switches on each side of the room and a muncher below ready to caution enemy that will presumably give Mario a key when he hits the first on/off switch however it gets blocked off which means he has to run back and forth until he eventually is able to get a key and leave so for this box fight you were able to adjust how many times Mario is required to hit the on/off switch by just adding more blocks at the bottom that's not what amount works for your level also it's pretty important that the on/off switches get blocked off after you hit them as you don't want the player to just camp in one spot if I don't know is that while I did use boom boom you can really put mostly anything in here besides Bowser as it would get pretty cramped with him but if you do use boom boom keep in mind that his attacks vary between styles and I thought his attacks and Mario you work best this boss fight works well in an on/off based level or even just like a normal castle level my next one was used in my level 1 ops revenge Mario's found himself stuck on a club of a death pit but it gets even worse Camus then begin to shoot at him and Mario has to avoid their shots until eventually the skewer activates the on/off blocks closing the pit and destroying the cannons for this one again there isn't really much to mention besides that you are able to adjust the difficulty by adding or removing cannons or if I extending the Stuart timer by just adding more hard blocks in front of it also I should just adding dotted line blocks in front of the skewer so that it won't activate the on/off blocks again also Mario you as their wall jumps can make it to where you don't have to use a claw but if you want the player to stay on the claw then I'm suggest using one of the other three main themes for next room mario has found himself trapped once again although for some odd reason the walls are bullet blasters but there isn't any time to ponder at that as he sees that those trapped with a boom boom with a muncher crown again as Mario chose to figure out a way to defeat boom boom the arena suddenly gets smaller and smaller eventually the arena gets incredibly small so the on/off blocks are activated crushing the boom-boom and the bill blasters so how does this work well the Vil blasters fire out by bombs which blow up the hard blocks that are in their way and since they're on conveyors they'll move closer to the center until one of their pawns blow up one of the on/off blocks not only does that kill the blasters and boom-boom but they also activate an unseen contraption that makes sure Mario doesn't get trapped in the on off blocks that activates whenever a blue dotted line blocks are filled in the spot fight works well in all themes and this works well with many different types of enemies really besides Bowser if you want to use Bowser jr. loaf make a piranha plant in his crown as if he backs up into a bill blaster it'll actually stop them from moving also the reason you're going to want the bill blasters to be crushed is because of the bill blasters just go off into a hole and there's a chance they'll fire out of a bomb and kill the player either way I actually really like this boss fight and it's based on the level I made back for a 10 item challenge in Mario maker to our next boss battles for the 3d World theme where with the cat suit you're able to climb semi solids so as we could see Mario needs to get red coins to be able to get out of here through the locked ward box unfortunately they're trapped inside a hard block shell however usually the bullets shooting at him Mario is able to lure the bullets into breaking the blocks and allowing him to get all of the red coins now the way this is set up is pretty simple just line the walls with bill blasters just not too many and also line the floor with spikes to avoid any potential cheaters you can also make it avoid however I rather use spikes also this is optional but I included an extra powerup in my version when I uploaded this level however you can easily just replace it with another pink coin to make it a bit more challenging this phosphite of course only works in 3d world since mario is only able to climb semi solid than that theme and bullets can only break hard blocks in that field also when using music attach the music to a bill blaster for a smooth track to please throughout the fight also using warp boxes work way better than doors so you definitely utilize them this works well for any level based around bullets or in this case my level 2 katsu Mario's then found himself in a tall tower with a swamp at his side well already has to do is race the clump down the tower to be able to get to the exit door once the floor picks the bottom it will activate on/off blocks making it to where Mario can't reach the exit the level I made is pretty simple however whatever you decide to do on the inside can't be changed to be more challenging or you make it easier you're just going to want to make sure that Mario is able to beat the swamp and isn't goo horribly challenging also with my design Mario is able to recharge this challenge if he fails to do this you're going to need to have the question mark blocks that the swamp destroys be full of vines as they'll respawn after being destroyed then you're gonna want to make a small contraption like this to shift the dotted line blocks back to their original state this only activates if the swamp did actually activate the on/off switches originally also make sure you can't go backwards through your reset door resetting is completely optional so you don't have to include it if you don't want to but the option is always there there's really a lot of creative things you can do with this kalam preysing setup and I haven't actually seen it too much so I'd love to see more this can be used in all themes effectively and I would say you should use this setup to base a whole level around it also make sure this is placed in a vertical sub area if you want it to be long we then get into the final boss of mine level seesaw Mario we again see the world famous muncher crown boom boom and we have to fly the seesaw with him below us our munchers since we aren't able to damage the boom-boom it seems like Mario's going to try to have to survive until he reaches the top of this tower however since boom-boom keeps tilting the seesaw into the munchers mario has to really try to avoid him however mario does eventually reach the top and is able to beat the level so again this is pretty simple however there are a few things you can customize for one it doesn't have to be boom-boom but I found you work best but any enemy works good except for Bowser also as you may have been able to tell the arena got smaller as Mario went up which I just think is a nice little bonus challenge also you can add things like big coins and mushrooms to the track going towards the player to maybe bait them to make a risky move my section here isn't too long but you can have it go all the way up to the ceiling if you want to this doesn't get work in all styles but Mario you ground-pounding can messing things up but in the end the player will take damage anyways so it really shouldn't affect the level all too much this boss fight works well in a stage based on tilting platforms in the 3d World theme when crates are placed on lava they actually flow which means you can have a rising lava section where Mario has to ride crates up to the top you can even have enemies like Bill blasters and parachute bombs that gradually start to remove your platform bit by bit it turns like this is very difficult and it's probably the hardest one here try not to overdo it with the bombs of blasters I also found that rising lava at speed 2 works best finally we have our final boss and also what happens to be the final boss of my level 1s revenge mario has entered a room but as he enters he sees a Mac run by a 1up he does see a way out but upon entering the door he finds that he needs to collect the 1up to be able to complete the level so Mario climbs on the vines and is able to grab the 1up destroying the Mac in the process so what's happening here well we have the Goomba shoes that jump towards Mario which causes the mech to move and also with cannon sect on top of it it gives it a much more of a mech feel and a bunch of bigger presence this is very customizable and there's a lot of different mechdesigner you can make so I'd really look into it the shoes also start on munchers to keep them still until Mario enters the room also of bumpers as the edges of the arena so the mic won't fall apart if it hits a wall the neck even falls apart when you collect the one up since the Goomba shoes try to jump towards the middle if you don't want a clear objective then you can put keys inside the Goomba shoes or you can replace the one up at the top with a Goomba there's a lot that can be customized with this so I'd really try it out this is based on the level I saw or you had to create your own mech so I'll leave the code for that on the screen now because I highly suggest checking it out and it can give you some ideas on how to make your own mechs also this unfortunately only works in Mario 1 and 3 since there are only Goomba shoes and those two themes but anyways that's all for the 10 boss fights which one was your favorite let me know
