YZ125X First Rebuild at 82 Hours - What's it look like?

[Music] in this video i will be inspecting and replacing the top end on my 2020 yz-125x i bought this bike brand new and have since put on 82 hours with a good mix of faster motocross type riding and hard enduro this isn't a rebuild tutorial it's more so to discuss how the performance parts i've installed have affected the bike's reliability as i'm often asked with that said i'm sure you'd like to know what parts i'm running note that these parts were all installed at the same time and after only one or two hours of break-in while the bike was completely stock i run a funnel web air filter electron h-series carb boyson rad valve and an apex head with the supercross and cross-country dome the combination of all of these parts has given the bike an incredible bottom and mid-range power boost while still retaining a hard pull up top it perfectly suits the riding i love to do and makes the technical riding so much easier all of these parts can be found on my website linked in the description or at brad dash products.com buy the freight train performance package for yz-125 or yz-250 to get all of these parts at a discounted rate now let's open this thing up and see what it looks like [Music] so [Music] uh [Music] you [Music] whoa there buddy are we just gonna look right past that oily plug yeah i knew someone would call me out so i'll uh let you know uh right before i did this video i washed the bike and then very quickly rode it around my driveway didn't get it completely warmed up just wanted to fling the water off of it so yeah fuel wasn't quite burning how it should be once it's properly warmed up [Music] well as you can probably see the piston looked pretty good a little bit of carbon build up but no scratching uh the cylinder head dome was very clean just a little bit of oil residue from that stupid driveway ride the cylinder got a little bit of scoring in it i'm gonna go ahead and run one more piston on it but all in all everything was looking really good really clean um definitely cause for just dropping a new piston in and running it for another 50 60 70 maybe 80 hours we'll see [Music] [Music] well aside from all the extra oil from my driveway ride the spark plug tip looks like a nice golden brown so the electron was doing its job [Music] considering that the bike has 82 hours with what i'd consider pretty hard abuse i think it's pretty safe to say that all these performance parts are creating really good clean and reliable power for the bike the piston is nearly spotless besides that little bit of carbon build up on the top which wiped right off the dome of the cylinder head was also spotless with just that little bit of oil from my driveway ride the cylinder was the only thing that wasn't quite perfect but it was still far from bad it still showed good cross hatching and there wasn't anything more than a few faint vertical scoring marks no big deal i'll keep running it [Music] bye so now you're probably thinking well brad of course you're going to talk highly about these parts you sell them on your website and your whole goal is to generate sales well yeah obviously that's true but i tested these parts in combination for the full 82 hours since buying the bike i held off on listing the apex head and freight train package on my website because i wanted to ensure that i was happy with the performance and reliability of it all needless to say i'm not disappointed at all with the outcome it's super important to me that the things i sell improve people's writing experience writing is my passion and i want to pass along all the good i can to you all if i don't personally find it useful or great you won't see it on my website [Music] all right so just got the new piston and ring in and everything back together so hopefully we did everything right let's uh see if it runs ah so thankfully the rebuild went very well i'm up to 125 hours total on the bike now 40 since the rebuild and everything's still working great i took the bike out to montana right after and it performed flawlessly [Music] you
