Yubari King Melon, All-you-can-eat Challenge

and this behind me this tent here at the your body melon dome right there is where they hold a pretty amazing very interesting uh food challenge it's all you can eat you body melon and the yuma your buddy king melon is like i guess you could say the cadillac of japanese melons or cantaloupes it's pretty much an interchangeable thing and and today peter and i are going to be partaking in this all-you-can-eat challenge right here it's 2500 yen for as many as you can eat in 30 minutes i don't think we're gonna need that much time but we're gonna my goal is two and peter's is like one and a half or something i think we can completely destroy that we'll be filming this as well for uh the documentary there he is what took you so long i had to introduce the show well let's get started man whoa oh my gosh look at this melon this is really good all right let's attack here where can we set them up so they can see us when does the has the stopwatch started hi it's already started all right this is pretty exciting you're also in the documentary right here i'll be moving the camera around um but uh let's get the first one done here yeah i don't know do you eat with a spoon or you just dig we're gonna put it here for a little bit while we record record for the main channel here um this would be great as juice as well yeah it almost melts in your mouth it's so so soft and juicy it is really good um i ate like two or three whole melons last time i was here and i gotta do it again i want to see the size of an actual whole melon how big is it um after this we're going to go and pick one oh okay any idea what the record is here how many have been eaten by one person oh that's a good question that's a good really good question all right so the record is about seven melons and sanji boom 30 minutes seven miles in 30 minutes all right so with this spoon it seems like it's more efficient but yes but it's not as much fun as the slurping that's all a matter of opinion yeah i don't like to get my face all sticky and full of juice it's getting on a flight you can actually get right down to the rind with the spoon pretty easily i use my hamster teeth and get deep into the rind i hamstrut that look you can see the striations from a hamster i don't know is this plastic for covid protection or for splashing from the juices a little bit of both so of all the food you've had on this trip john what would be your favorite food melon melon um that's easy easy answer wagyu melon sushi uni it's good in what order not necessarily in that order no it's really easy to cut too this series is the softest melon i've had this is considered the cadillac of melon in japan i'm driving it like a like a gremlin was that a ford gmc gremlin orange cadillac i'm eating yours now don't do that hey you snooze you lose that's getting greedy now going for the record eight eight slices or eight whole melons eight whole melons for the last couple days i've been talking like billy bob that once you hear you cannot unhear look at you eating like it's um i'm enjoying it i'm not trying to be a pig i'm enjoying it immensely just because you're eating faster you eat fast because you're enjoying it uh oh peter you get a chance to catch up as i change memory cards hmm we've really had some fantastic food oh no the memory cards are in the car okay in the front part of the back part the front is it open the front's not open hang on [Music] all right where is it memory card i'm very good about unlocking the camper here's our keys we've got a great time with this camera we're in the robinson 106 from japan crc and it has been a real treat to drive that vehicle through hokkaido man for the past four days we're turning in the camper after this and heading for the airport it's been one heck of a ride we're a great way to wrap it up with this this one's full too [Music] oh full they're all full all the sd cards are full i don't want to format them are you catching up yeah catching up what kind of a challenge is this if i fail to film i i got one card here i can use 64 gigs but that's more than enough we take like 100 gigs every time we use this 8k camera starting to hurt my teeth it's so sweet oh really i'm just gonna have to format this memory card issues always stink okay we backed all these up so so we're about an hour away from our camping car rental place which is near chitose airport and after we finish up here we're gonna go to another special place so we can't say yet okay you'll see it in the documentary he's back just when things are getting good things are gonna get better how winded i need some more gasoline part two fight i eat like corn do you eat your corn like this you could type right typewriter it yeah look at the hamster striations that's a thing of beauty and look at peter's look at he is peter this is not complete mine is art there's melon on this there's just animalistic you know the hardcore people eat the rinds they eat the skins then there's no pr but there's no proof of how many well i think i'm grinding down if you know what i mean this could be it for me you list you didn't even eat one it's a big melon some people are getting sick from the asmr experience somebody's like getting you can get seasick car sick and get asmr sick of course it has nothing to do with seeing your beaver teeth chomping into that well what do you think all through my childhood i got teased with the sides of my two front big teeth finally they're being put to good use no one's teasing me anymore just wait kathy with a k she'll have like betsubata like a second stomach like i'm full but i could eat dessert i'm full but i can eat melon or like dessert but that betsu that second stomach never gets full excuse me so i just burped and now i have more room order four more you're really helping the asmr experience with you belching excuse me phillip the all you can eat is 30 minutes for how much does it cost how much still costs for 30 minutes 2500 yards per person yeah holy moly that's like so you better get your money's worth out of it i already have it's so delicious i'd pay 2500 for just one slice i'm taking lunch bites if you've never seen a lunch bite show us oh so it doesn't get away we're going to start to suck before no it doesn't get away no juice escapes no juice escapes the table top when john dogged at the could i want to rub it on my face i want to i want my head to be a melon that's why in the postcard i have a melon helmet right it's very good yeah and go ahead have some more it's okay i gotta try to really nice pattern to it too yeah i love the shape of the body melons now a lot of people don't don't know this but the melons aren't done until they're kind of yellow color so when you buy them it might be a little bit green you have to give it a few days before it turns to color so there's like a few stages you can see the melon progress until it's ready to eat and when it turns to this yellow color then chow down it'll smell like amazing it makes your whole house smell good yeah let's show them up close yeah the the rind pattern oh yeah we'll bring it over here now we can go go see some melancholy by the with the stream yeah so uh you can come closer uh i oh i need my stop oh i'm starting to feel the weight of this we had a big breakfast at the hotel in furano so a couple of notes it's not over until the right melon sings am i the right melon [Laughter] is that singing or just making noises opera with it's bubbling up oh man can i share this one with you no you gotta take that when you start you once you pierce a fruit you buy the whole fruit that's what seinfeld had to tell kramer kramer thought oh i could just take a bite and put it back no you took a bite it's yours um yeah so i this is my fourth time in ubudi and i think it's every time is really enjoyable and um every time i last time i came here i sent back melons to kanai and i thought i think it's cool if you come to visit uh to your body you can send back the melons uh and then in a few days by the time it arrives it should be ready to eat so kanai was really happy with that there's also different grades of the melon so there's your body melon i'm melon drunk that's true there's different grades of the melon so uh there's a good very good uh like exceptional and supreme i i and there's no english for the four grades is there good very good excellent excellent then amazing amazing i don't know it's a the 3 million yen melon is the ex like super exceptional quality but there's no word i'm still kind of coming up with it it's good very good excellent and i don't know what's higher amazing super calif amazing yeah i was gonna say a word that i cannot spell so how about melantastic melon it's possible but that's confusing because excellent should be the top now whenever i got an a plus it said excellent the teacher would write what's above that incredible i guess incredible yeah or superlative i don't know i think that's what they said excellent and then superlative was the one above excellent i think it was a newspaper that did i don't know if you if you can help me out with this melon credible we're getting some people shouting in here exceptional yeah premium there's some good words here uh yeah so peter and i are going back to the airport in about an hour but it's really nice just to stop by you body and if you're on a trip around hokkaido in my my toy my toshi oh yeah so they do this every year and you buy this all you can eat melon it's just so awesome so you can uh you know if you're riding around hokkaido in a car or a motorcycle or there's even a train station near here it's not i guess it's kind of a far walk to the melon dome but you can uh get to the uh ja you buddy melon dome it's held what months um uh july and august right june 25th to august to august 16th so after obon right 14th so that's pretty that's a lot that's a big time yeah and uh you will fill your belly with melon i i promise you this is melon sanity melon sanity that's the word right there melon excellent and then mel insanity trademark trademark i use it no insanity you got it so this is mel insanity and i'm really happy that peter was here to join all right here's the last piece this one here i got my last piece i struggled through this i wasn't going to do it but i did it
