you can draw this in procreate you can draw this cute panda in procreate all you have to do is follow this tutorial all the way till the end i have developed my you can draw this video tutorials especially for people who don't have any drawing experience or experience with procreate and by following this tutorial you will be learning by doing which in my opinion is the best way to learn about all of the features in procreate during this video tutorial we will be using a new brush that i have added to the treasure chest treasure chest yes the treasure chest it's full of procreate freebies and you can get access to it by going to free from flow but if you already got access then you just need to go back to the download page to get this extra new brush in a treasure chest you won't just find free procreate brushes but also color palettes a fun prompt list my ebook about color theory and more once you have downloaded the free fur brush you are ready to follow this tutorial and create your own cute panda just be sure that once you have reached the end of the video and you have your panda to share it on instagram and tag me in the image not just in the description that way i will be able to find your work and perhaps will see it in the next you can draw this video well then are you ready let's get started first of all the canvas it's 2 300 pixels by 3000 pixels and a color profile is set to srgb iec long code and now i still can't quite remember it good thing you can see it on screen as always i have created a color palette for you which you can download through the link in the description and yes that's also free first thing we'll do is add a color to our background we'll just go to the layer menu click background color and then pick this greenish color then to create our cute panda we are going to use the symmetry tool and you can find that by going to the wrench that's the actions menu then go to canvas and then turn on drawing guide then you'll go to edit drawing guide and here at the bottom you will see symmetry let's turn that on you don't need to touch any of the other options and then click done next let's pick a color we'll go for this grayish color over here that first color in the second row and for the brush we will be using the soft short fur brush which you can find in the treasure chest like i said and yes it's absolutely free for this brush the angle of the fur depends on the angle of your pen you can imagine that fur is coming out of the tip of your pen and it's like coming out there and then it depends on the angle what the fur will look like so you need to keep that in mind the opacity of the brush is set to eighty percent and i have the size set to 23 and the first thing we'll do is create our panda bears head we'll start here at the bottom and be mindful of the angle of your pen so we'll go from the top downward and we'll just make the left side of the face because since we have symmetry turned on the right side of the face will be drawn at the same time and make sure you turn your pen as you go up all the way here we are making kind of like a squished pear shape and just keep an eye on that angle of your pen so as we go to the top you'll pan go from the bottom to the top and we'll make these circular motions until we have an entire face you need to make sure that you make multiple strokes because our opacity is a bit low so our strokes are a little bit transparent [Music] and make this kind of squished shape now we have a nice symmetrical head let me go over here still a little bit transparent maybe we can add a little bit to the chin here this is a nice shape for its head next we'll create its body and we'll do that on a separate layer let's first go to the layer menu and click the plus for a new layer and we want its body to be below its head and also behind its head we don't want that body fur covering its head so let's click the layer and drag it underneath we also want to use symmetry here so we'll have to click the layer and turn on drawing assist that way symmetry is turned on for this layer as well you can see that for layer 1 it's also turned on and now layer 2 there you can also use symmetry and let's create a nice round belly we can start here at the bottom and we'll make it about just as wide as its head and it's a rounded shape again make sure to keep an eye on the angle of your pen [Music] and so you definitely need a pen for this you can't do this with your finger because then the ipad won't detect the angle of your finger so i definitely recommend using an apple pencil here [Music] so make the body about just as wide as its head you can draw an imaginary line from its cheek here to the bottom to its belly here next we are going to draw its arms legs and its ears we'll do that on a layer which is between the belly layer and the head layer let's click the plus and again make sure you turn on drawing assist so you can use that symmetry tool so click the layer and then turn on drawing assist and for the color we will use this first color here at the bottom a very dark gray let's start out very easy and make a cute little ear here just make a circular form we can make a brush a little bit smaller we can go to 14 keep an eye on the angle of your pen to draw in a little ear now let's go to the arm this might take a couple of tries but don't worry you can always just use the two finger tab to undo or erase parts of your layer let's start about here just outside of that belly keep an eye on the angle of your brush go to about here and then we'll change the angle go upwards here to create a little arm then we'll go like this we want our pen to go up you can actually also just go to the right side of the panda if that's a bit easier and draw in this side of its arm because that way the fur will come out like this you can make it a little bit bigger its arm and we're not drawing in a hand yet so we're actually we're creating a little stump here we can go down just a little bit here [Music] until you have something like this and now let's go for its legs we'll start here and make a rounded shape and make sure you leave some room between its arm and its leg follow the shape of that body here and then you can move to this side to draw in this side of its leg just so you have control over that angle of the fur you can switch sides cover this entirely with fur and now let's draw in a little paw go around like this and attach it to its leg i think we can actually go a little bit lower here now let's work on the eye area we'll have to make a layer on top of that face layer so let's click that first and then click the plus for a new layer and again we'll turn on drawing assist so we have symmetry turned on let's start here and make a rounded shape for those cute eyes then we'll have to switch to this side so we can have the correct angle for that fur back to this side until you have something like this next i want to make sure that the fur isn't transparent because later we will be working on our background and you don't want to see that through its body like it's a panda ghost so let's make a layer underneath all of these layers we'll click the plus for a new layer drag it underneath and now let's just grab the monoline brush under calligraphy and then use that gray color and now let's lower the opacity of the body and of the head by clicking that n and then using that slider that way we can see through it and we can make a shape following the body and the head you don't have to go all the way to the edge and then just fill that shape be sure to close it first and fill it and now we can turn up the opacity again of these layers and we are sure that our panda won't be transparent now let's add some lighter fur let's first go to the head layer and let's make a new layer on top let's click the plus and we will use clipping mask on this layer we'll click the layer turn on clipping mask and now whatever we paint on this layer will only show up on that head layer we will go back to that fur brush there it is the soft short fur and now we will grab this lighter color over here that second color and now let's add some light fur again be sure to check the angle of your pen also be sure to turn on drawing assist and now let's add some lighter fur i can make the brush a little bit bigger 25 and here at the top we'll want some lighter fur and if you use little pressure on your pen you can make some more transparent strokes slowly adding some texture to that fur let's go all the way down lightening up this part a bit it has some nice texture now let's do the same thing for its body let's make a new layer on top of that body layer by clicking the plus and then turning on clipping mask again and let's turn on drawing assist as well so we have symmetry turned on and now let's lighten up its belly a little bit it won't go all the way down because there will be a little bit of [Music] shadow don't go all the way up here because light is coming from above and its head it will block that light making a shadow over here same goes for its arms leave a bit of dark gray there just add some lighter fur to its belly here for the next step i would like to work on its hands and feet we will create a new layer and we will do that underneath these hands and feet and ears layer so we are at the right spot right now we can just have layer seven selected then click the plus for a new layer and we won't be using drawing assist here because we want some variation between the left and the right side for the brush let's use the fine liner brush which is also part of the treasure chest and for the color we will use this third color over here the opacity of this brush is at a hundred percent and let's make it a little bit smaller let's go for 25 and then let's give it three little claws a little bit pointy as if it's holding its belly [Music] and on this side as well [Music] until you have something like this next let's work on its feet we'll have to create a layer on top of these arms and legs layer now so let's click the plus to make one on top and now let's first create like a little oval and then three little ovals on top just like a cartoony footprint one two three that looks cute next let's give it a little snout and a mouth we'll have to do that on a layer on top of the face layer of course so let's click layer six click the plus for a new layer and for the color we will use this very dark color over here that's second here at the bottom and we can actually turn on drawing assist here and use that symmetry tool so let's click the layer and turn on drawing assist let's make the brush a little bit smaller let's go for ten percent and let's create the nose around here [Music] a little rounded nose and let's give it a little smile we'll go down here and add a little curve and give it a smile like this now let's add some cute eyes we'll have to do that on a layer on top of these dark patches of fur on its face so let's click that first and then click the plus for a new layer and again we can use drawing assist we can use that symmetry tool to make it symmetrical so click the layer turn on drawing assist and for the color let's pick this very light one over here and we can go back to that monoline brush which you can find under calligraphy let's make it smaller the opacity is at a hundred percent and let's say we'll go for 20 and now let's draw a circle hold your pen in place and then tap one finger on the screen to make it snap to a perfect circle then you can click edit shape here at the top and you can move it around a little bit make sure that there is a little bit of fur left here on well this corner near the nose i think this is a great position and then you can just drag in the color to fill both of these circles it's looking pretty creepy right now let's add some black to these eyes let's do that on a several layers so we'll click the plus and let's set this layer to clipping mask so that our black that we'll be drawing will only show up on this white of the eye for the color we'll pick this second color over here that darker color and now let's make sure that we set this layer to drawing assist as well not just a clipping mask also drawing a sit so we have symmetry turned on again let's draw a circle hold your pen in place tap one finger on your screen to make it snap to a perfect circle and then let's go to edit shape to move it around until you have a tiny edge of white around the eye and then drag in the color to fill these eyes this sure makes them look a lot cuter now i want to add some light to these eyes but i don't want to use the symmetry tool anymore so we'll go to the layer menu click that layer and then turn off drawing assist now we'll click the layer again and turn on alpha lock now the pixels on this layer to paint that black is locked and we won't be able to paint outside of that shape you can see that checkerboard pattern you won't be able to paint there just on these black circles for our brush we will go to the airbrushing brushes and use the soft brush and for our color let's just use this white or near white the brush opacity is set to 40 and for the size let's go to 10 and let's just add a little bit of light to the bottom part of that black and on this side as well just light it up slightly next we are going to add even more light and we'll use a different color for that we'll go for this greenish very light color and we are going to use the selection tool that's the s-shaped ribbon here at the top and we'll set it to freehand now we are going to select the upper part of that black you'll have to make a confident stroke like this and then go around and click that circle to make a selection of that top part then you can go to the brush and let's make it a little bit smaller let's go for five percent [Music] and let's light up this little part here and now you can go back to the selection tool click it and click it again and do the same thing for the other eye so make a confident stroke for your selection then go back to the brush and use it to light that part up and then click the s shape ribbon again to turn off the selection now we just need a little extra touch we will go to the calligraphy brushes again and use the monoline brush and for the color we'll use that white again and let's just add a little small highlight the brush is still set to 100 opacity and the size is at 15 and let's add two little dots one bigger and one smaller on both eyes [Music] like that for the final touches we are going to work on the background first let's give a little bit of shadow to the bottom here we'll make a new layer so go to the layer menu click the plus for a new layer then click and drag it all the way to the bottom for the brush we will go back to the treasure chest brushes and use the is it grunge brush for the color we will use this dark green color that's the second color here at the top and let's also turn off that drawing guide because now we have that vertical line and we don't really need it anymore so let's go to the wrench and here turn off drawing guide this brush this is a grunge brush is set to 100 opacity and for the size let's go to 25 and now let's just go over this bottom area just underneath its bottom and let's add a little bit of shadow you can use multiple strokes making this darker as you go just make these horizontal strokes give a little bit of shadow here now let's make the brush a little bit smaller go for seven percent make this area even darker [Music] and here in the shadow area we can actually also add a little bit of darker fur to its legs let's go back to that leg arm and ear layer and let's use that soft short fur brush again and let's go to that darkest color here and if you go to the layer menu you can see that for layer 3 it's still assisted even though you can't see the drawing guide it's still turned on so if we add a little bit of dark fur here you can see that the symmetry tool is still turned on just add a little bit of dark fur because it is in shadow and we can do the same thing for the arms actually but i don't want to go outside of that edge so what we can do is click layer 3 and turn on alpha lock and now we'll be able to darken this lower area for instance [Music] because that will be a shadow and there will also be some shadow here just underneath its head so you can add some darker fur there now let's go back to the background click layer 13 that's with the shadow here and let's click the plus we are going to use the fineliner brush and for the color we are going to use this dark green the second color over here and we are going to draw some bamboo let's first create some bamboo sticks you can start behind our panda and make a straight line up hold your pen in place to make it snap to a perfect shape a perfect line and then let's make another one right next to it like this and if you make sure that you close the shape somewhere behind the panda you can actually drag in the color and fill it and let's just create a couple of these and every time just hold your pen in place and make it snap to a perfect shape a perfectly straight line [Music] let's make one over here [Music] drag in the color to fill it and if you are following this tutorial or once you are done following this tutorial and you really can't get enough do be sure to check out the playlist with all the you can draw this videos and once you're done following all of those you can always check out my patreon page where i share a lot of different types of tutorials for procreate ranging from beginner level to more advanced levels so that's the perfect place if you want to learn more about procreate now to these sticks let's add some little bumps if you've seen bamboo then you can well then you know that they have these little ridges kind of like ridges [Music] so let's add some of those and yeah some random places some here just a little rounded shape at the edge and then of course the bamboo needs some leaves as well so let's just draw in some leaves some pointy leaves and give them some various shapes some are a bit bent and you can have some pointing upwards and some down [Music] and just continue adding these bamboo leaves until you have a nice variation of leaves in your background and once you have a nice variation of bamboo let's turn down the opacity of this layer a little bit go to the layer menu and on this layer layer 14 click the n and use this slider to turn down the opacity we'll go all the way down to 15 percent so that it's nice and subtle in the background and that's it you have created a cute little panda in procreate i hope you have enjoyed following this tutorial don't forget to share your work on instagram or any of the platforms out there i am looking forward to seeing your cute pandas have a great day and i will see you next week
