you can draw this and procreate you can draw this lovely looking scene in procreate and you don't need any experience with drawing or with procreate i will guide you through every step and we'll only be using the brushes that are already in procreate but before we get started i have great news over 10 000 people have already downloaded the treasure chest full of free procreate goodies so if you're not one of those 10 000 people that you might want to go to freefromflow.com and get access to free brushes color palettes a fun prompt list and my ebook about color theory and yes really it's free totally free and once you have followed this video all the way till the end once you have finished your artwork then you might want to share it on instagram and tag me in the image because that way i will be able to find it and perhaps we'll see your work in the next you can draw this video if you have already followed all of the you can draw this videos and you can't get enough then do check out my patreon page where i share a lot more video tutorials ranging from beginner level to more advanced levels now let's get started first of all the canvas it's 2 000 by 3 000 pixels and i have created a color palette for you which you can download for free through the link in the description if you want your colors to look exactly the same as my colors then do be sure to set your canvas to srgb the only way to do that is when you create a new canvas in the gallery you can change your color profile once you've already made a canvas so do be mindful of that first thing we'll do is add a color to our background let's go to the layer menu that's these two little squares and click background color and pick the dark blue color that's the first color here in the color palette now we'll start working on layer one in the layer menu and for our color let's pick this pinkish color and for our brush we will use the monoline brush which you can find under calligraphy let's zoom out a little bit first thing we'll do is create a circle so draw a circle here at the top hold your pen in place and tap one finger on the screen to make it snap to a perfect circle now you can use the move tool by going to the arrow here and let's turn snapping on you see snapping here turn on snapping and make sure that your circle is in the vertical center of your canvas and a little bit below the top now let's click the arrow again and let's drag in the color like this to fill your circle now we're going to duplicate this circle and you can do that either by going to the layer menu swiping to the left and clicking duplicate or you can use the three finger swipe down and click duplicate now we still have snapping turned on so if we go down you can see that vertical line so we can make sure that this circle is also in the vertical center let's click the arrow again that's looking good a little bit like a snowman now we want to connect these two circles and turn it into like an elongated circle to do that we are going to make a new layer by going to the layer menu these two little squares and click the plus for a new layer now we'll go to the selection tool that's the s shape ribbon and we'll pick rectangle now let's make a rectangle that's about the size of our circles like this you don't have to be entirely accurate just make a rectangular selection and drag in the color to fill the shape now click the s shape ribbon again and go to the move tool that's the arrow and now we can change the size of the square of this rectangle first go to freeform and we still have snapping turned on and now we can make it snap to the sides of those circles you do want to make sure that it's also in the center of the circle like this so you'll make it snap to the outsides and also make it snap to the center line of the circle now if you click the arrow again you can see that we have a nice elongated circle now we can go to the layer menu and we can squeeze these three together to turn it into one layer if you are a perfectionist you can go to the arrow again and you can make it snap to the perfect center of your canvas but we were already pretty close let's click the arrow again to get out of here and continue painting first i would like to duplicate this layer like i said you can do the three finger swipe or you can go to the layer menu swipe to the left and click duplicate [Music] now i want to change the color of this layer we'll go to the color palette and pick this color that third color in the color palette and drag it onto the shape you won't see it right now but if you go to the layer menu you can see that it has turned blue i will go back to this top layer and we'll make this one a little bit smaller you'll have to go to the arrow and let's turn on uniform for now now let's turn off snapping for now and you can just drag one of these corners to make the shape a little bit we smaller a slight edge on the outside now you can see that the top part that's a little bit broader than the side so let's turn on free form and make the sides a little bit thicker and then to make sure that it's centered you can go and turn snapping back on and make sure that it's in the exact center of your canvas and now we have a nice line on the outside of our shape next let's add a gradient to our shape which will be our sky we'll go to the layer menu click this layer one which is actually layer two because we have two layer ones here let's click it and turn on alpha lock once you have alpha lock turned on you will only be able to paint on the shape that's already there you can't paint on any of that checkerboard area so that's great because we don't want to paint there we just want to paint on the shape let's go and pick another brush we'll go to the airbrushing brushes and use the soft brush and for our gradient we'll use these four colors these four colors in the lower row let's let's start at the top with the blue that fourth color and for this brush the opacity is set to 40 and the size is at well let's go for 12 and now let's go over the top part of our shape and you can make multiple strokes because our brush is a little bit transparent since we have the opacity set to 40 percent first we'll do this top part then we'll switch to that third color which is a little bit of a purplish gray and we'll make some strokes underneath you can see that these colors are nicely blending together we'll go down to about halfway and then we'll switch to that second color here and make some strokes with that lightening up that sky some more and if you feel like you've gone down too much just pick that first color you can add some more of that pink here i think this is looking good now we can go to the magic wand and pick gaussian blur and use layer if you drag your pen or your finger to the right you can blur this layer a bit and smooth out that gradient i'll go for 27 and click the magic wand again to get out of there now we are going to draw the landscape we'll do that on separate layers but still we only want that landscape to be visible on the shape so what we'll do is make a new layer by clicking the plus then click this new layer and set it to clipping mask now it's clipped to this shape and whatever we paint on this layer it won't show up outside of that shape if you have watched my other you can draw this videos then you might have heard this like a hundred times but hey at least you won't forget it this way now i'll go to the selection tool that's the s-shaped ribbon and we'll use rectangle and we are going to make well like the land part of our landscape let's start at the bottom and go up make sure that you are below the lowest point of the shape and we'll go up to about halfway of our shape to about here and then you can just drag in your color we'll pick this light purplish color and you can drag that into the shape into your selection because paint will only end up inside of a selection then click the s shape ribbon again and now we have a horizon horizon usually doesn't look this crisp especially when you need glasses so let's blur it a little bit to make it look more natural not as if this stylized image is very natural but okay let's go to gaussian blur click layer and let's slide to the right slightly to just slightly blur it let's go for 2.8 percent and click the magic wand again to turn off the blur section to get started painting some mountains we are going to create a new layer so let's click the plus and again we only want these mountains to show up on that elongated circle shape so let's click the layer and be sure to select clipping mask for our brush we will use the monoline brush under calligraphy and for the color we will go for this color that's right next to the purplish color here is a light blue and we are going to draw a mountain range or like it's more like a hilly shape from left to right and here we are going to use our special wobble technique we'll go from left to right and make a wobbly line we can do that right some of us are real masters let's go up and down a little bit all the way to the right side now we can just go ahead and fill the shape because then the entire canvas would will get overflown by blue because this is just a line and it's not a closed shape so to close it start here on the right side and loop all around to the left side and then you can start filling your shape i'm imagining that this light purple layer is water and it has some little islands on there so let's create some more shapes some little wobblies and one here on the horizon so the wobbles are okay just make some creative shapes that look a bit like hills and you can drag in the color to fill these now we'll go to the next layer of hills we'll go to the layer menu first and then click the plus for a new layer and again to be sure to click the layer and select clipping mask now for the color we'll go one to the left we'll pick this other blue and while still using the monoline brush we are going to make another wobbly line how easy can it be we'll go from left to right making some nice wobbles we'll go up here loop around the bottom all the way to the left side and then drag in the color to fill the shape and we'll repeat this step we'll make another layer by going to the layer menu clicking the plus clicking that new layer and selecting clipping mask and then we'll pick the next color to the left a darker blue we'll start just below that other hill we just created and we'll go just above that so that it's covering that other heel go down a bit here and then here we'll go above it again and down and back up again and then loop around to close the shape drag in the color to fill it there we have our next hill range mountain range i'm not sure if it's hills or mountains alright next let's go to the layer menu click the plus again click the layer and use clipping mask and we'll go to the next color that's this one second color here in the color palette and let's create another hill we'll start a bit lower here and i would like to go above this part here i'll start about here go up go higher than that hill and i'd like to go higher here as well loop around and fill your shape now for a final hill or mountain whatever it is let's click the plus for a new layer click the layer and use clipping mask again and we'll go to that first darkest color in the color palette i'd like to start between this hill and that one and let's make another wobbly line we'll go down here wobble on and go up again and loop around to close your shape and fill it this is already looking so nice but we can make it look even better we are going to the brushes and we are going to use an organic brush and that's the mountain ash how appropriate i guess these are mountains let's still stick with the dark color and we'll still be on layer 8 with the mountains in front and the opacity of this brush is at a hundred percent and for the size let's go for four percent and we'll go over the edge of this mountain creating well the idea of trees on this mountain [Music] it's a little bit of a tree texture so just go over the edges until you have something like this now we'll go to the other layer layer seven make sure that you pick the appropriate color that's the second color in the color palette let's make the brush a little bit smaller we'll go to three percent because everything that's in a distance will look smaller let's go over the edge and add a little bit of that tree texture here and finally let's do that for the third one layer six again be sure to pick the right color a third color in the color palette and make your brush a little bit smaller we'll go to a small two percent and let's go over it i will only do it for this one these three because the other hills they are so far away that we won't be able to see that texture of those trees so we'll just do it with the three in front to add even more depth we are going to add some mist in between these mountains i'll just stick with mountains let's go to the front one first layer eight that's the darkest and for the brush we will go to the airbrushing brushes and use the soft brush the opacity of the brush is still at forty percent and the size is at twelve percent i will pick this color of this mountain that's behind it and now we'll just glaze over the bottom of this mountain to add a little bit of mist not too much just a little bit then we'll move to the next mountain layer seven and for this one we'll pick this bright blue so we'll go one step lighter than this hill mountain i was sticking with mountain and let's glaze over that bottom part here then we'll move to the next one layer six and for this one we'll pick this bright blue you can just hold your finger on the screen to grab the color picker but you could also use this little square here to grab the color instead that also works let's go over the bottom area here adding a little bit of mist looking great next i would like to add some clouds so let's create a new layer for that you can either make a layer on top of all the others or you can make one behind that layer four if you want to go behind your little islands but i'll just create one on top because i don't plan to go over those little islands do be sure to set it to clipping mask so you won't be going outside of the shape and i would like to use the selection tool this time let's go to the s-shaped ribbon and use the free hand selection tool we are going to make some irregular shapes for our clouds let's start here and let's make an irregular shape and then go back to that circle to close your selection you can zoom in a little bit you can even adjust it add little parts to it as long as you have it set to add and if you click remove you can remove parts of your selection i just want some irregular shapes now you can fill the shape by going to the colors and we'll pick this purple color and drag in the color to fill your cloud i would like to make another cloud here on the right side so let's go make another selection by clicking that s-shaped ribbon twice i'll start here and i'll make an irregular shape for this cloud over here just close that selection by tapping that circle and then drag in the color to fill it click the s shape ribbon again to get out of there and here we have two nice looking clouds i do feel like they are a little bit dark so we'll lower the opacity of this layer by clicking the n next to the layer name and dragging this to the left we'll go for 45 i also want to blur them a little bit so we'll go to the magic wand pick gaussian blur and then layer slide to the right and give them a slight blur we'll go for 3.1 then click the magic wand again to add some more depth we can also blur these hills in the back a little bit let's go to the layer menu and pick that layer that's layer 4 and go to the magic wand to pick gaussian blur and click layer and let's just give a slight blur just a little bit let's go for 2.1 and then click the magic wand again we're almost there let's create a moon for our scene we'll create a new layer on top of all the others well actually it doesn't really matter where you put it but let's put it above all the others let's click the plus and well you could use clipping mask but not necessary here since well the moon is not going outside of the shape for our brush we are going to the calligraphy brushes and use the monoline brush and for the color we will pick this bright color that moony color now we'll draw a circle hold your pen in place and tap one finger on the screen to make it snap to a perfect circle then you can drag in the color to fill your shape again if you are a perfectionist you can go to the arrow to the move tool make sure you have snapping turned on and you can make sure that your moon is in the exact center of your canvas if you can find the orange line yet there it is then click the arrow again and now let's go to the selection tool the s-shaped ribbon set it to ellipse and let's turn it into a not full moon like half a moon a moon sickle not sure what it's called but let's do it let's make a selection let's start about here a little bit above and to the left of our moon and then just drag to the lower right until you have covered almost well just a big part of your moon until you're about here and then you can swipe with three fingers to erase that selection now let's duplicate our moon that we got here so we can go to the layers swipe to the left on the layer and click duplicate now go to the lower layer that's lower 10 not layer 10 but layer 10 then click the magic wand use gaussian blur and click layer now again we'll slide to the right and add a slight blur there let's say 5.4 and then click the magic wand again now i just want to work on this edge a little bit i want to give it a slight blur let's go to the layer menu and go to layer one the bottom layer one and then we'll go to the magic wand again and use gaussian blur set to layer we are blurring a lot today let's slide to the right and just give it a really slight blur shall we do 3.1 all right and let's click the magic wand again now i just want to add some lighting to that edge so let's turn on alpha lock here so we will only be able to paint on a shape click the layer then alpha lock and for our brush let's go to the soft brush under airbrushing again for the color i'm just going to pick local colors let's pick a light pink here now let's go over the edge here lightening up that area a bit so we are down here you can make multiple strokes lightening that up and you can also lighten that left side a little bit we'll pick this color here and go over that area that creates a little bit more depth to our kind of like stylized airplane window and there it is you've made it till the end i hope you have enjoyed following this tutorial and i hope you will share your artwork on instagram don't forget to tag me in the image and if you have enjoyed this tutorial then do be sure to check out the other you can draw this videos as well which you can find in a playlist and
