[Music] oh well hello i didn't see you there well while you're here let's talk about the xbox series s how how was that was that too cheesy was that intro too cheesy no no it was perfect okay i've been using the xbox series s for about a month now and i have a whole review i got all these all these thoughts first of all the series s is by far the most accessible gaming console you can buy right now that's the current generation at least of course you can buy the previous gen ones but no one wants to do that because future games and compatibility and blah blah but uh the series s is the one i think you're most likely to be able to get for a reasonable price i've seen them on the resale facebook marketplace market at least in my area now for as low as like 350 so 50 bucks over retail when you factor in taxes and stuff like that it's like 20 more than you would have paid so that being the way it is i would say if you want a current gen gaming console look on the resale market for an xbox series s because nobody nobody wants them first of all just my overall impressions of it uh it's a great console it's it's a solid gaming console it would be good for you if you're not like a crazy hardcore gamer or you're on like a huge budget constraint which you know i get a lot of tech products so getting one for a month means i can't return it so uh yeah with with the consoles i'm on a budget constraint now one of the big things that makes the series s the s instead of the x is that it has a lot less computing power it's about a third as much computing power and that's because it's not rated for 4k 120 hertz gaming most people don't need that they want it because it's the best but they don't need it and they don't really they're not going to benefit from it now 120 hertz gaming yes absolutely there's a big difference with more frame rates and that's something anybody notices and appreciates right away but with 4k versus 1080p it's four times the pixels to render and to account for it's four times as much data which means you need pretty much four times the processing power however when you're looking at a 4k tv unless you're sitting pretty close to it you aren't going to notice the difference between 4k and 1080. what you will notice is the frame rate difference 30 frames per second 60 to 120 you're going to notice that during gameplay it makes a difference and it makes the game feel more smooth makes feel like you're there less than it makes it feel less like a movie less like this and more like a you know a game a really well made game um that being said there's that little bug in the back of my head i just i know that i don't have the best one right so it makes me feel a little bit lesser i don't like it it doesn't feel as good as far as the design of the the box itself who cares right it's just sitting under your tv i actually think this one looks better than the series x i like the white with the black dot kind of a storm stormtrooper look i think i've said that before i'm saying it again why with the black dot i like it i think it looks good now switching over to the controller for a second there are some weird things about this and i i can't deny i actually didn't end up using the stock controller i have an xbox elite series 2 controller that i've been using because it's a lot nicer to use um mainly the the grip material right this is it feels a little slippery i'm sure that gets over time that goes away but that one's got like rubber on it and it just feels a lot better so i don't i don't care for the texture on this they've added a little bit of texturing on the back of the handles it's superficial in my opinion it doesn't do much another thing about the controller is you need double a batteries for this what the hell is that why for for 70 i buy this thing is 70 bucks right if you put double a batteries in it the most expensive component of it which is the the battery itself is not in there so why why do these cost 70 retail i mean this one came with it so whatever but that's dumb that's dumb as hell put rechargeable batteries in it they put usb type c on the controller so i can use that to charge it if it had rechargeable batteries in it out the box but no i have to spend another 20 or 30 bucks which i'm not going to do because i have the xbox elite series 2 controller i'm just going to use that grip's better yeah beyond that everything else about the controller is fine it's literally an xbox one controller they didn't change anything wasn't broke so they didn't fix it another issue i've had with the xbox is there are no really good launch titles for the xbox so there's nothing that makes me want to go xbox over a playstation 5. playstation 5 launched with spider-man miles morales which looks super fun um is getting updates and using ray tracing and playing super well alright xbox launched with nothing and then cyberpunk came out which was awesome but then it was also not that great i mean cyberpunk looks like a potato on it looks like worse than the xbox one i would have expected it to look on xbox one not great not a huge fan of that also i play rocket league a lot which on playstation and on pc if i want to play that online is free i can play rocket league competitively online for zero dollars a month the game itself is free as well so if i have one of those other if i'm a pc gamer or a playstation gamer i can pick up that game and start playing for no money and never pay for anything on it if i want to on xbox to play this well the game is free but to play it online you have to have xbox game pass or the xbox premium membership thing so you gotta pay 10 or 15 a month to play online games which i wish i would have known before committing to using it for a long time because that's stupid so dumb i hate that i should be able to play rocket league for free the last thing i want to note and mention in this review that is actually a good thing um is the instant game switching so one issue i had with last gen consoles and i've had with every single generation of console before is if you want to pick up and play a game it takes a while and if you want to switch what game you're playing it takes a while um i remember on my ps4 i tried to play cod black ops it took me like five ten minutes to get into a game just from loading all the things every step of the way loading the thing up blowing the game up getting into the right menu loading the you know finding a match then loading that just took too much time i can pick this up and play a game of rocket league relatively quickly which is awesome um also i can switch when i'm done playing rocket league and i want to switch over to playing cyberpunk 2077 i just choose to do that i stop playing rock i go to the menu i go and i choose cyberpunk and i open it up and it's right where i paused the game the game is still ready to go stored in memory or something which is incredible i love that so much it keeps me on the xbox longer for somebody like me who's a much more casual gamer you gotta be able to switch to that stuff quick because i just don't have the attention span i'll do whatever is the fastest thing to entertain me also has this cool feature if you have a family with multiple kids you can get each kid their own controller and you can set up the xbox so that when you turn on that controller it loads into that kid's game profile or that person's game profile so i i'm the only one in the house that really uses the xbox the wife ain't super into it but if i had kids i could give them each their controller and when it's their turn to play the xbox they would turn it on it would just be ready to go for them and their stuff 10 out of 10. that's a great feature well done overall i can't compare this to the ps5 right now but i gotta say for the price 2.99 for a current gen gaming system it's a good deal if you can find one on the shelves and you're this is for if you're a much more casual gamer and you don't want the playstation exclusives you have to meet those two criteria if you're gonna get real serious about your gaming probably should get a ps5 or a series x and if you want the playstation exclusives don't get an x don't get an xbox but there is one other casual gamer competitor out there now google stadia i've tested this out there are some limitations to getting it on your tv you have to have a chromecast ultra which you can't buy a la carte you have to buy the stadia premiere edition um they're they're gonna come out with a software update for the chromecast with google tv but that's not out yet so you still spend some money it's not just like plug and play if you have a computer you can plug it in your tv but anywho stadia is highly competitive with this platform playing cyberpunk on stadia is much better experience given there is a small amount of input lag if you can ignore that cyberpunk on stadia like way better than on xbox besides that that's about all i got my guess is you know who you are if you want a series s you're probably somebody like me where you just you do want good gaming you don't want to pay out the butt for it you don't want to rely on an internet connection for it you want lesser input lag serious pretty good pretty good console upgrade to the series x if you want 4k go to playstation for the exclusives go to stadia if you don't want to pay that much and you have a good internet connection those are my thoughts on the matter and if you're new here and you watched all the way through
