Who do you say that I am (Matthew 16)

that's alone all right this week we are in Matthew chapter 16 and Mark chapter 8 so we've been going through the Gospels and last week who remembers what this topic was last week I'm having a quest you guys don't why I'll have I does anybody remember what we talked about last week crumbs for the dogs okay that's a good title for it the surf nation woman right and how she came to use schewe asking for her daughter to be healed he said it's not right to give the children's fruit to the dogs and she said yes Lord even the dogs eat the crumbs and get this set right see they're too high or too low I all right if it's too high I can't see if it's too low I can't see my notes so I got to figure out a good happy place all right would you bow your heads with me Lord we love you so much we praise you or thank you that we can come together and gather together with like-minded believers that we can come and worship you father pray that everything we say indeed would glorify you but I pray that you would fill this place with your only spirit and she would feel these people with your Holy Spirit Lord that she would speak to us what help us to know you not just to know about you but help us to know you personally intimately that she would lead us that she would guide us in every aspect of our lives that we would walk with you the true light would shine in us and through us we praise you we think in the name of Yeshua all right so a couple weeks ago we talked about the Pharisees right and and the Pharisees told you schewe that his disciples were eating bread with unwashed hands you guys remember that one and then we talked about the woman the sir finishing woman and we kind of showed how those was kind of tied together that Yeshu was using this Gentile woman and her faith her great faith and contrasting it with the Pharisees and how its kind of sandwiched in between these two sections about the Pharisees where you know he's he's criticizing the Pharisees for rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep their traditions it calls him hypocrites and and then then afterwards though the woman comes and then after that we get to the section that we're about to get to today where the Pharisees and sadducees seek a sign and yeshua says to beware of the leaven of the pharisees all these things are kind of tied together and they're all in context it's it's all happening right around the same time and there's there's things that link all these things together and we're gonna kind of link those things together again today that's why I want to remind you of what we talked about a couple weeks ago mm-hmm excuse me and so starting in Matthew chapter 16 and Mark chapter 8 is also parallel and so there's some things in there as well but I want to focus mostly on Matthew 16 tonight during verse 1 it says then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested him and asked him if he would show them a sign from heaven the answered and said to them when it is evening you say it will be fair weather for the sky is red and in the morning it will be foul weather today for the sky is red and threatening hypocrites you know how to discern the face of the sky but you cannot discern the signs of the times a wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah and he left them and departed as I was reading this I just thought of something that happened recently the other day I don't remember which day it was but as the Sun was setting it was getting you know evening time the Sun was going down and I looked outside I thought man this guy looks really strange tonight it's kind of got this green hue about it and something about the clouds and the color and I thought it looks like hail just to me something about this feels like it's gonna hail tonight and I I asked a man I said did the weatherman say anything about hail and she said I don't know I hadn't been checking the weather and a couple hours later I you know I'd been out and did some stuff in my office and I came back and I was talking to her and she said other weatherman said they're supposed to be hail and I said well that's what I thought I hate being right about Heil but I thought it looked like Heil in the sky and you know as I was reading this you know he's talking to the Pharisees and saying you know how to discern the weather by looking at the sky and you can you can see the sky and you can know if it's gonna be fair weather or foul weather they says you can't discern the signs of the times and what were they asking him they said show us a sign went to your shoe and said show us a sign what were they trying to figure out what were they asking him they were trying to see if he would show them some kind of a sign to prove that he is who he says he is right they wanted him to prove that he is the Messiah to prove that he is the the man that he's claiming to be the person the the savior of the he's claiming to be right show us a sign and he says you don't know how to discern the signs of the times and I think that's kind of interesting that he phrased it that way that is not just the sign of who he is but it's the sign of the time that he is there that he is present it's the time for the Messiah to appear and we yeah they asked him for a sign and he said that you're an adulterous generation for asking for a sign you know that why why is he calling them adulterous what does asking for a sign to prove that he's the messiah why would he say that's an adulterous thing have you ever thought about that it's one of those you know as you're just reading through it you might just kind of skip over it and miss it and not even think about it you know but they're asking him to show him a sign that he is the Messiah he says because you're asking for a sign you're an adulterous generation and I really was kind of troubled by this for the while and and trying to fair what is he saying why is that what why does that make them an adulterous generation and here's kind of what I came up with let me my suggestion my understanding of this I'm not saying I know for certain on this one you know sometimes I'll get up here and I'll tell you this is absolutely what this passage means are saying and then there's some times where like tonight I'll say I'm not a known percent sure on this is but this is kind of my my understanding of this is where I think it where I think he's going with it and what I think he's saying is they're looking for something extra biblical they're looking for an extra-biblical sign that he is the messiah they're not believing the Word of God and so you know if we look back on the what the Pharisees we're doing just previously in in what chapter 15 they said your disciples eat bread with unwashed hands and he criticized them and said that you are exalting the traditions of man above the commandments of God well if you look you know if you're familiar with the scriptures in the Old Testament and the prophecies concerning the Messiah at this point in issue is life there have been numerous prophecies that he's fulfilled numerous signs that he is fulfilled that all point to him being the fulfillment of the prophecies concerning the Messiah right if you if you're familiar with those scriptures and you see his life and the things he's saying the things he's doing and you look at him you say wow he's he's fulfilling all these scriptures is this the the Messiah that was promised and this is why so many people are coming to him and following him because they see this happening in his life and they say this there's something about this guy he's healing the sick he's casting out demons he's making the blind see in the deaf ear he's walking on water he's calming the storm he's feeding 5,000 he's feeding 4,000 he's doing all these miracles turn the water to wine I mean all kinds of things that he did right and the Pharisees say show us a sign I mean if if you're following it and paying attention to all the what he's done already you think what else do they want what other kind of sign do they need and so I think that they're looking for something extra biblical they're saying what you're doing yeah it lines up with what the Bible says the Bible prophesied all these things about the Messiah and yes you're doing all these things looks like you're fulfilling the biblical prophecy of the Messiah but we want something else it was more proof do something dazzle us surprise us is is almost the way it seems because if they really trusted and valued the Word of God then they would have had more than enough signs if they really believed in the Word of God they would have said oh we've had all the signs we need we we know this has got to be the Messiah everything he's done just lines up perfectly with what the Prophet said and so I think that they were not evaluating Yeshua based on the Scriptures I think they were evaluating him based on something else and we know that the the Pharisees had their own interpretations of what the Messiah was going to be and do and we have some things like that recorded in the in the Mishnah and the Talmud and so we see things that they thought the Messiah would do this or the Simas I would be like this so they had their own preconceived ideas about who the Messiah was and it wasn't always based on a scripture and so it could be that they were looking for him to fulfill some of those signs that they may be the rabbi's had come up with with what the Messiah should do but he said this is spiritual adultery said you are an adulterous generation for seeking a sign and and it's still you know as I'm looking at this and I'm still like what is it what is it about them looking for sign that makes them adulterous and it's got to be that they're looking for something outside of God they're looking for something outside of what God said because that's when the Bible talks about spiritual adultery that's what the kinds of things is talking about right is worshiping idols following other gods idolatry you know those are the things that the Bible calls adultery with you know in spiritual adultery in relation to God and so they're seeking a sign is somehow connected to that idolatry somehow connected to that worship of other gods but you know we just look at his birth alone what are the scriptures say about his birth Isaiah 7 verse 14 it says therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign and right here plain as day Isaiah said here's a sign if you want to sign or who the Messiah is here it is the Lord Himself will give you a sign behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and you shall call his name Immanuel means God with us and so they write here plain as day the Pharisees have a old face sign flashing above his head it says look this is this is the one Isaiah prophesied about but we can go through I mean literally hundreds of verses in the Old Testament we could go through one at a time and show and you know we've done this over the past year and a half as we've been going through the the Gospels and I try to link up things that you're sure Susan did with things that are prophesied in the Old Testament we could go through so many things they'll test me to show this is something this is you're sure this is you're sure this is Joshua and no matter how much how much you can you can show somebody all throughout the Scriptures is prophesied about Yeshua there's some people that just don't get it they just don't see it they don't have the eyes to see you sure right there in front of their face and I know that there's you know a lot of people in Judaism they're that way they've been raised in Judaism they've been raised to believe that Yeshua is not the Messiah and they've been told you can't believe issue as a masai you can't believe that Jesus is Messiah if you do then you're no longer following God you're going after idolatry that's what they teach is that it's idolatry to believe your she was the Messiah and so so many people in Judaism they have a hard time coming to that understanding and so they read the scriptures and they they read the Old Testament and they don't see Yeshua there because they've been trained not to see him there it's those the spiritual blinders and you know if you were raised as a Baptist you have spiritual blinders on your eyes they're Baptist blinders and so you look at the Bible as a Baptist and you understand the Bible as a Baptist as if you were raised as a Lutheran you have Lutheran blinders if you're raised as a Pentecostal you have Pentecostal blinders and no matter whatever denomination or religion you're raised in you have certain preconceived ideas and when you look at the scriptures you see those those preconceived ideas in the scriptures you see what what you believe you impose on the scriptures and we've all got to learn how to take off those blinders and look at the scriptures with their fresh eyes and say what does the Bible tell me to believe what does the Bible say and if my beliefs don't match up with what the Bible says I'm gonna toss my belief in the garbage and believe what the Bible says and we've all got to do that at times and so whether you're Jewish in tile whether you're Baptist or Pentecostal whether you're Catholic or Lutheran or whatever you might be we all have something we've got it we've got a realign with the scriptures and say you know what my ID on this isn't quite right okay so I'm gonna go with what the Bible says instead okay and so the Pharisees though the Pharisees and Sadducees had the scriptures and they had the Messiah standing in front of them and they didn't see him the second Messiah standing right there and they didn't get it they didn't understand that that's who he was so what sign do you think would have satisfied them he turned the water into wine He healed the blind to calm the storm he walked on water he cast out demons and he raised the dead among numerous other things so what what kind of sign were they looking for what would have satisfied their curiosity what would it have been that he could have done to prove them once and for all that he is the Messiah do you think if he had died and rose from the dead that would have fixed it apparently not I mean what what else would they what what could he have done to have satisfied them I don't know I can't think of anything it could have done that he didn't already do and yet they still wanted more science they wanted more from him prove prove to us again show us some more what else can you do it's not enough and and I wonder sometimes if we get that way we're looking for what he can do looking for him to interact and to prove his power to show some kind of sign in our life Oh God if you want me to do this then part the waters for me somehow show me a sign that that you you really want me to do this or you really when we go this way or you you don't want me to do that I think people test him a lot like that and you know I think that there's sometimes you know if you're really uncertain about something and you just aren't sure what to do and I think sometimes it's okay to say God will you show me what should I do help me help me know what's the right choice but I think some people sometimes they just don't want to do something and they know that that's what they're supposed to be doing and they're like God if you really want me to do this you know yeah the Jonah so you know I think we've got to be careful with this that we're not seeking signs and wonders we're seeking God himself that were seeking to know him were seeking to to just be in his presence we're seeking to worship Him we're seeking to follow him and obey Him they were not just looking for signs and wonders miracles and I think that that maybe also could be why he said it was adulterous because instead of seeking the face of the father they were seeking miracles besides the wonders supernatural and I think art our generation today this world that we live in is fascinated by the supernatural you know we see there's a huge move and the younger generations into witchcraft right now if you're not aware of that I think a lot of it may have something to do with the Harry Potter books and and a lot of those things where people are dabbling in witchcraft and it's stirring up this curiosity about the supernatural and so they're going in that direction and they I can't remember the numbers but they said that the the numbers of young people in the younger generation the mine younger generation than me people in their teens and 20s right now are just running to witchcraft and it's just it's phenomenon it is it's one of those phenomenons that they're just the people who are studying this stuff are going I don't I don't get it why is this happening and I think a lot of as do with with the witchcraft that's going on in TV and in books and movies it's influencing that the children but they're they're attracted to the supernatural they're attracted to this power they're attracted to this spectacular stuff and it's just like in the book of Acts with Simon Simon the sorcerer he saw the Apostles doing these miracles and he saw that they were praying for people and they're receiving the Holy Spirit and he said you know let me buy this from you I want to have that ability to and then Peters you know Peter said that you can't buy the Holy Spirit basically but it's this idea that people they're fascinated by the supernatural they're attracted to the supernatural and I think that's also why churches like Bethel is really getting a lot of tension with the younger generations because they have gold dust coming out of their air conditioner vents and people flopping around on the floor screaming and and I look at those things and I think what is going on I normally don't bring up stuff like Bethel as I watch those things and I see what they're doing and they claim that it's the Holy Spirit and I look at it and I think I don't see the Holy Spirit in this so what are they doing they're going out to graveyards and sucking up dead spirits out of graveyards what is this fascination with the supernatural is spiritually spiritually Dahlstrom spiritual adultery is spiritual adultery they're seeking after something spiritual but is not God so he performed numerous countless miracles and signs and wonders proving himself to be the Messiah according to what the scriptures said about the Messiah and they said give us a sign seeing him perform signs did not cause them to have faith they saw him do all these things they saw him perform miracles they saw him lay hands on the sick and be healed lay hands on the blind and see the lay hands on the ears of the Deaf and they hear cast demons out of people they saw him do all these things and they still don't have faith so seeing miracles and signs and wonders doesn't guarantee that someone's going to have faith does it this is because faith comes by hearing the Word of God as Romans chapter 10 it says but they have not all obeyed the gospel for Isaiah says Lord who has believed our report so then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God what was it that Yeshua rebuked the Pharisees for exalting two traditions of men above the Word of God they hold their traditions in higher esteem than they do the actual words of God that's adultery that's idolatry if any of us have a man-made doctrine that we hold in higher esteem than what the Bible says that's idolatry that's the thing that Yeshua criticized the Pharisees for and I think we all need to do some self-evaluation and from time to time and say you know what is this doctrine is this thing that I believe really biblical or am i holding some man-made doctrine and this man-made doctrine prevented the Pharisees from knowing who you show us you see how dangerous that is they're man-made doctrines that were not biblical prevented them from recognizing the Messiah when he stood right in front of them it's dangerous and so we have all these doctrines that are being taught in the church and we you know we hear these doctrines being taught and we look in the scriptures we say where is that like where's the Bible talk about a rapture left behind so millions billions they made movies about it where is it in the Bible I take 1 or 2 verses out of context and twist it and you come up with a whole new doctrine and now people think they're gonna get raptured and not ever had to face any kind of hard times so when the hard times come what are they gonna do you sure told the parable about the sower and the seeds and the different types of soil or remember there's one soil that when trials and tribulation come it dies out it falls away why maybe because they held false doctrine they believed they were gonna get raptured out of here and when it didn't happen they lose their faith because they don't know how to have faith during persecution they don't have faith have faith when their life is at stake because they have a false doctrine this TV preachers that are preaching the prosperity gospel [Music] that's not biblical they're teaching lies in order to fly around in fancy jets and live in big homes they're liars and the millions of people that watch them are being led astray because they're teaching false doctrine it's no different than the Pharisees and Sadducees they don't see the real Yahshua they don't see the real Jesus because their doctrine is blinding them to him they have their own idea of what Jesus should look like they have their own idea of who you shoe is they think you're sure wants them to be wealthy drive around in a fancy car and live in a mansion it's not that you're sure would read about in Scripture though is it and so we've got to be careful what our doctrine is are we believing what the Word of God says are we adding to it taking away from it we're building our own man-made doctrines the leaven of the pharisees and sadducees so Matthew 16 verse 5 now when his disciples had come to the other side they have forgotten to take bread then jesus said to them take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees and they reasoned among themselves saying it is because we have taken on bread but Jesus being aware of us said to them oh you of little faith why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread do you not yet understand to remember the 5 loaves and the 5 thousand and how many baskets you took up or the seven loaves of the four thousand how many baskets how many large baskets you took up how is it you do not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread but to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees so as I'm saying it's it's all about the doctrine their doctrine was wrong and they missed the Messiah he said beware of the doctrine of the Pharisees and the Sadducees and I don't think it was a specific doctrine I don't think it was like well this there's one doctrine they have they believe in this one thing we were that he was talking about be aware of man-made doctrines they don't line up with the scriptures that are not based on the Word of God anything that's outside of the Word of God extra biblical doctrine be aware of that beware of that because you may miss it you may miss the Messiah he may be standing right in front of you you won't recognize him because you're not believing the Word of God you're believing the word of man after rebuking the pharisees and sadducees for seeking science he warned his disciples to beware of their doctrine I believe the reason the Pharisees rejected Yeshua is because they didn't have biblical doctrine they didn't have sound biblical faith they didn't believe the Word of God and that's why they didn't believe you sure because issue is the Word of God right in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God the Word was God the word became flesh and dwelt among us so if they don't believe the written word of God how are they gonna believe the Word of God and flesh the embodiment to the Word of God yoshua john john 5:39 says you search the Scriptures for in them you think you have eternal life and these are they which testify of me he's telling him if you you know what the scripture said you would know who I am the scriptures are testifying about me is what he says the Pharisees studied the scriptures I mean it's not like they just put the Bible on a corner and let the Kliq dust left it on a coffee table and let it collect dust and never actually opened it that's not the way it was for them even though that's the way it is for so many people today they actually study the Scriptures the problem was that their doctrine was not based on the Scriptures they valued the opinions of the rabbis more than the opinions more than the the words of God in the Bible they like the opinion of the rabbi more there's actually some things written in the Talmud that are very anti Scripture you know that that basically if the rabbi says something and it contradicts the scripture then you go with what the rabbi says that's their attitude about it but you know the Catholic Church is just as bad if the Pope says something everybody does what the Pope says no matter what the Bible actually says says not just the juice it's not just the rabbi's Protestants do it too they just don't have a pope but you know if the Baptist National Convention declares something all the Baptist do it is that way with with every church the church likes to exalt the opinions of men above the Word of God and so when someone has an interpretation of scripture that they like they like to go with it this is off-topic but for example so Peters vision in acts 10 peter has a vision about a sheet with a bunch of animals on it and God says Peter kill and eat and he says Snow Lord I've never eaten anything common or unclean before and then he gets a knock at the door he goes down to see who it is and it's this guy he says hey come with me to this house of Cornelius he's a Gentile and he wants to meet with you and God Tom told him to send for you and bring you over here up until that point Peter would have said no I'm not going to the house of a Gentile but God showed Peter this vision so that he would be willing to go with this man to go talk to Cornelius and to go into the house of a Gentile and Peter explains this twice in chapter 10 and chapter 11 he says God showed me not to call any man common or unclean but to take the gospel to all the nations to take the gospel to the Gentiles never once does he say God told me I can eat a ham sandwich now but how many millions of Christians think that's what Peter's vision was about they think the beaters vision means we can eat whatever we want never once does Peter say that nor does anybody else in the Bible say that they've taken beauties vision and reinterpreting it to fit their own preconceived ideas that's the kinds of stuff we've got to be aware of we've got to be careful about we don't want to be guilty of mutilating God's Word in order to fit our own agenda yeshuaa Robair rebuked the Pharisees for this kind of thing so we go on now they study the Scriptures they didn't see the Messiah because their own doctrines their own interpretations and we get to Matthew 16 verse 13 when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi he asked his disciples saying who do men say that I am who do men say that I the Son of Man ham so they said to him some say John the Baptist some say Elijah some say Jeremiah or one of the prophets they said to them but who do you say that I am Simon Peter answered and said to him you are the Christ the Son of the Living God jesus answered and said to him blessed are You Simon bar Jonah for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my father who is in heaven and I also say that you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven or whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven any command his disciples that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ so you sure rebuked the Pharisees and warns his disciples to be aware of their doctrine and then he said who do men say that I am it's it's almost like you saying who do our people believing the word of them of the Pharisees are they being affected by the Pharisees what what is man's opinion of Yeshua and we see that the answers that they gave are very similar to a lot of the answers we see today he's John the Baptist Elijah Jeremiah or one of the prophets we see her people say well he's a good teacher he's a good moral teacher or he's a he's a prophet he's actually a prophet but he's not he's not the Messiah he's not the son of God I mean if you ask a Muslim who was it was Jesus what are they gonna say he's a prophet they don't believe he's got incarnate they don't believe he died and rose from the dead they don't believe that he ascended into heaven as he did the right hand at the throne of the power of God that he's gonna return and judge the earth they don't believe that he's the son of God they say he's a prophet you ask most Jews who Jesus was and they say yeah he was a Jewish man he was a rabbi he was a good teacher and they say that a lot of fables have been told about him and and made him out to be more than he actually was is it what a lot of a lot of Jewish people would say probably but they would say that he's he was a good teacher when they acknowledge his teachings were good they were sound they were solid the problem is if if you guys ever seen CS Lewis was his Lewis is about this dilemma he said you can't say that he is a good teacher or prophet it's impossible that the way CS Lewis puts it I think he says he is either a liar a lunatic or Lord and that's the conclusion you have to come to when you see all the evidence about it because a good teacher isn't gonna stand up and tell you I am the lord of the Sabbath how many of us could say that hey guys I'm Lord of the Sabbath nice to meet you who can say that but the one who is actually the Lord of the Sabbath a good teacher can't stand up here and say before Abraham was I am how are you before Abraham you you were born 40 years ago abraham live what four thousand years ago how are you before Abraham it makes no sense unless you actually are the Son of God I and my father are one I mean how many of us can make that statement that me and me and God the Father we are one what you see me do is because the father does it I do only what the father does I and my father are one the Pharisees picked up stones many times because of some of the things he said about himself I am the resurrection in the life how many good prophets can say that how many good teachers can say I am the resurrection in the life he who believes in me will not die but will have everlasting life how many good teachers and prophets can say that the only way that that makes sense is if he is who he says he is if he is the son of God if he was born of a virgin if he died and rose again if he is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven the only way these claims make sense is that if that's not true then he is a lunatic certified to make some of these claims he has to be and if we follow him we have to be nuts too unless he is who he says he is heeey I'm gonna start over you guys are gonna think I'm a broken record I didn't flip the page he said whoever believes in me will have everlasting life he said I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me and that is one of those phrases that people today still have problems with I mean I heard Joel Olsteen get on national television and say that well there's many roads to God really you're not a preacher are you you don't actually believe via schewe do you you don't actually believe the word of God do you are you even a Christian I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me Yeshua says you can't get there through Buddha you can't get there through Muhammad you get there only through Yeshua so we are left with the question that he asked his disciples who do you say that I am is he a liar is he crazy or Z the son of God as he the messiah is he the king of kings and Lord of lords we all have to answer that question it doesn't matter what your grandma believed or what your dad believed what your dog believes what matters is what do you believe about Yeshua I don't care what the Pope says I don't care what the Baptist National Convention says I don't care what the Jews say what matters is what do you believe who is he yeshuaa asked his disciples said who do you say that I am and I think this is the most important question you should ever asked his disciples because this question how he responds to this question shows us how how foundational this is how important it is and so that's why we need to ask this question to ourselves who do you say that he is Peter said you are the Christ the Son of the Living God the confession and belief that he is the son of God is vital listen to what the Bible says about your shoe being the Son of God the angel told Mary that she would conceive and bear the Son of God Luke 1:35 and the angel answered and said to her the Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the highest will overshadow you therefore also that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God at his baptism John testified that his the son of God John 132 234 and John bore witness saying I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove and he remained upon him I did not know him but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me upon whom you see the spirit descending and remaining on him this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and I have seen and testified that this is the son of God when he was in the wilderness for forty days Satan tempted him concerning him being the son of God he said Matthew 5 Matthew 4 verses 3 & 6 he says now when the tempter came to him he said if you if you are the son of God command these stones to become bread and he said to him in verse 6 if you are the son of God throw yourself down for this written he shall give his angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up lest you dash your foot claiming to be equal with the father and the Pharisees had a big problem with that because I said he's making himself equal with God but Philippians 2 tells us that he is equal with God Villa penis 2 and first John four verses 1415 it says and we have seen and testify that the father has sent the son as the savior of the world whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God God abides in him and he in God it's the confession of faith in Yeshua as the Son of God is the foundation of our relationship with the father rashon five five it says who is he who overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God this is how we overcome the world is through our faith in Him in Jesus and Yeshua as the Son of God first John 5 9 through 13 it says if we receive the witness of men the witness of God is greater where this is the witness of God which he has testified of his son he who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself he who does not believe God has made him a liar because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of his son and this is the testimony that God has given us eternal life and this is the life and this life is in his son he who has the son has life and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life these things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God how many times did he talk about the son of God just in those few verses but he says God is a witness to you about his son if you instead of worshiping him and following him they snuck him out across they're calling God a liar they're making his word out to be false because they don't believe the testimony of God about his own you don't believe this then you are not in the faith this is the foundational doctrine if you don't believe this you are not in the faith and so any any church or denomination or religion that does could be God incarnate there are Unitarian churches Unitarians believe that God is one is not a Trinity is not Father Son Holy Spirit he is just father and that Yeshua is somehow less than that his Unitarian belief that he is not God he is somehow less than God that's idolatry if your shoe is not God and you should not worship him because that is idolatry Unitarians believe that he is not God
