[Music] i'm going to luke chapter 17 verse 11 through 19 and i want you to prepare your hearts and your mind for the reading of god's word and it's our custom to stand for the reading of god's word so i know you're at home and got your pajamas on running around with your scuffies and that little raggedy house dress but stand up like you're in church and let's have a good time in the lord as we consider luke chapter 17 verse 11 through 19 find it quickly because i've got something to share with you and it came to pass as he went to jerusalem that he passed through the midst of samaria and galilee and as he entered into a certain village there met him ten men ten men that were lepers which stood afar off and they lifted up their voices and said jesus master have mercy on us and when he saw them he said unto them go show yourselves unto the priest and it came to pass as they went they were cleansed and one of them when he saw that he was healed turned back and with a loud voice he glorified god fell down on his face at his feet giving him thanks and he was a samaritan and jesus answering said were there not ten cleanse but where are the nine there are not found that return to give glory to god save this stranger my god and he said unto him arise go thy way thy faith has made thee whole glory to god go back to that verse for just a moment i want to look at that verse in one of them and one of them when he saw that he was healed turned back with a loud voice and glorified god i i want to talk from the subject which one which one i want you to write that down that's a question of which one one of them turned back and glorified god's spirit of the living god fall fresh on us while we preach today minister to the fullness of my capacity to deliver your invincible infinite word of god magnify yourself in this place in the hearts of your people and the thoughts in the homes and the hearts and the minds in the spirit and the transformative power of god that can heal even leprosy whether it is outward or inward whether it's in my flesh or in my home whether it's in my finances or in my marriage whether it's in my body or whether it's in my emotions god you have the power to heal the unhealable to dismiss and to cleanse that that i cannot shake off myself spirit of the living god [Music] we need you to fall afresh on us today without you we can do nothing for it is in the name of jesus that we pray every believer everywhere all over the world shout amen it is so and so it is i am drawn to this text in an investigative capacity while it gives us so much it hides so much from us draped in the fabric of the text is revelation that often escapes our sensitivities this this one leper that turned around at the beginning of the story is surrounded by nine other lepers we are denied their address their information just just an inkling of their location they are outside of jerusalem somewhere near samaria and we are denied much information about them all we know is what's wrong with them ten lepers isn't it amazing how we will form colonies with dysfunction that we will surround ourselves with people who are like us because we like to feel normal and even in the bible days where there was no hospitals no medicines no ambulance no emergency care no pharmaceuticals no no natural herbs to be bought at the store even in the bible days when when leprosy attacked and there was no healing for it there's still a need to have community and though the lepers were rejected from the community because of their infirmity and they were declared unclean then all the unclean got together so that at least they would have fellowship in their crisis at least they would have community in their crisis at least they would have continuity in their crisis at least when they looked around it made it made it made it made leprosy look normal you you you couldn't castigate me because you're a leopard too and i i couldn't talk about you because i'm a leopard too much like we do today when we have any kind of dysfunction we surround ourselves with that so that it will feel normal to us jesus does not tell us the names he does not mention the names of the ten lepers so this investigation is quite difficult to perceive to understand to realize all we know is what's wrong with them and all we know is that they are outside of jerusalem they're outside of the city they're outside of what's going on they're outside of the cosmopolitan area where business is done and where spirituality exists and we're worshiping because they're outside of all that i want to talk to some people today who have have felt like outsiders alienated and rejected ostracized criticized rejected because of some infirmity low self-esteem some some some mistake you made some crisis you went through and the only time you find real comfortability is not with the saints it's not in the public square it's not in the scrutinous light of the public stare but no you surround yourselves with people who are as broke as you so that broke feels normal who are as crippled as you so that feels normal who are as weak as you so that weak feels normal and anytime you have a chance to escape you often dismiss it because if you surround yourselves with people who are doing well and you are not then you have to address how different you are so we see the lepers in a group of ten ten lepers who stood afar off from jesus but knew who he was is there anybody watching me right now you don't get too close to jesus but you know who he is you don't go to jesus places you don't believe in church and you don't believe in worship and you don't believe but you but you know who jesus is you might be in the strip club but you know who jesus is you might go play golf on sunday but you know who jesus is but it's nothing like trouble that even they are far off well jesus had to shout it out have mercy i don't deserve it i didn't earn it i cannot charge you with what's wrong with me but i have mercy on me and then jesus says to them the statement that causes me to really get microscopic in my understanding of of really scrutinizing the continuity of this text because jesus says to them go show thyself to the priest wait wait wait wait wait he didn't say be healed he didn't say behold he didn't say it i bless you he didn't say i'll fix you he didn't say anything to them but told them to go show yourself to the preacher like this with boils on my skin and fingers falling off and oozing infectious sores you want me to go into the crowd of the hole still broken god will often challenge us to get out of our sociological constructs to get out of our circle of comfortability to get away from that which is familiar to take the chance of going and showing ourselves our true selves not who you pretend to be not who you would like to be not who you want me to think you are go show yourself your original authentic self to the priest and the bible said that they turned to go show themselves to the priest i have to stop and and acknowledge what faith it took to to turn around and head to the priest still infected still losing it would have been good if i was healed and then i went to the priest but i had to go lame and and i had to walk as if jesus had not touched me it doesn't look like they've had an encounter with god it doesn't look like they're any better than they were it doesn't look like things have changed at all and yet they were called to walk by faith my brothers and sisters hear me good god doesn't have to prove who he is to challenge you to take a walk you've got to be willing to step out on faith even when it looks like things are not getting better and sometimes it looks like things are getting worse but in spite of the fact that it looks like things are getting worse you have got to be willing to go show thyself to the priests jesus is calling for authenticity jesus is causing us to to to to be transparent jesus is asking us to show ourselves to the priest but there's something wrong with myself and there's something broken with myself and there's something wrong with my home and there's something wrong with my marriage and there's something wrong with my finances it's like telling me to go buy a house and i know i got bad credit how can i go house shopping when my credit is bad go show thyself to the priest go show thyself to the priest and then i began to wonder why did jesus send them to the priest what was it about the priest what was it about the priest that he comes into this scene he comes into this circumstance he comes into this situation why would jesus send the lepers to the priests of course they were separated of course they were alienated and then of course according to the scriptures they were unclean untouchable undesirable disconnected alienated ostracized rejected scorned alienated from the commonwealth of israel they were separated and jesus says go show thyself to the priest what what would the priest do with ten lepers priests don't heal priests don't heal priests don't perform miracles priests do sacraments what sacrament would the priest offer that would help the lepers recover and then i stumbled upon the mystery of the red heifer you won't find it in the story you have to go into numbers to really dig it out and begin to understand but if you go into numbers 19 you will hear that earlier on in the experience of moses god introduces aaron and eliasa to a concept that is centered around the red heifer not anybody but the red heifer had to be offered up generally most of the sacrifices were male in species but this was a red heifer the red the red heifer had to be completely red no white no other color no strange hairs could not have ever been written on could could not have had sex of any kind it had to be a pure red for about three years old the specificity with which the commandment is given is overwhelming let me tell you why because the red heifer was used to cleanse the unclean and when the red heifer was offered up she had to be burned completely burned with scarlet wool tossed in and hyssop tossed in a fire was created and after the fire had completely dissolved every part of the perfect pure red heifer then the commandment was made to eliezer to show the red heifer ashes to aaron and to take those ashes and place them in water and to mix the ashes with water so that if anybody touched anything that defiled them that made them unclean this would be the purification that the priest would use not to cleanse but to declare you clean it's one thing to be cleansed and it's another thing to be declared clean see it could be that you are cleansed but you still need a declaration for example christ is the anointed one before john pointed him out but he still needed a declaration at the jordan river john says behold the lamb of god so he gets a declaration from men and then the heavens opened up and the voice both said this is my beloved son so he gets a declaration from god you cannot do this without declaration the mystery of the red heifer is what sanctified them and officially declared them clean and so they were going filthy to the priests to be declared clean they were going infected to the priests to be declared clean no scars no masks no covering no shield no disinfectant they were going filthy to the priest and they went anyway the message i want you to get the message i want you to understand quite clearly is that sometimes you have to go anyway see the mystery you have to realize about this is that if they went to the priest and the priest had the ashes from the red heifer it would so cleanse them that they could be communal again they could be connected again they could be released they could be authenticated they could be validated it set them into a category that was unique and this was rare because from the days of moses to the building of the second temple there have only been nine red heifers that were used in an official ceremony of cleansing this is so rare not only because it is difficult to find a heifer that meets the stiff qualification but it's so rare because the ashes of the water of the heifer would last a long long time even to this day there have only been nine red heifers that have been used and when i talk to my jewish scholars and friends they say they are waiting on the tenth heifer they cannot begin to build the temple which which will bring back the messiah until they have found the right red heifer that's what's underlying this text nine red heifers will be offered up and we are at this moment looking for the tenth so that they they become clean enough to rebuild the temple that provokes according to my hebrew brothers it's the coming of the messiah but in jesus day there was no shortage of ashes and he tells them to go show yourself to the priests go go and as they turn to go the bible says they were healed as they went this is something that i want to work on a little bit because a lot of us want god to do it so we can go but god is teaching us here i will do it as you go you've been praying lord do it so i can go lord fix me so you can use me lord heal me so i can be delivered but god is saying i will not heal you so you can go i will heal you as you go oh look at somebody say keep on walking you don't look good right now but keep on walking it doesn't look like the wine is that whack but keep on walking it does not look like your faith has been legitimized but sometimes you got to keep on walking you might be in pain but you got to keep on walking you might be limping but you got to keep on walking you might be on saturn but you got to keep on walking and there they were some with two toes and some with ten and some with two fingers and some was oozing infections diseases but they kept on walking you can walk with it doesn't have to be all right for you to be able to walk with it you got to be able to walk with stuff the problem in the world right now is that we give up on things because they are broken or lame or hurt and we don't understand how to walk with less than what we wanted the 10 lepers are walking with less than what they wanted less than what they had less than what they were born with less than what they expected less than what they believed but they kept on walking i want to look you in your face and tell you you can walk with it you can walk with it we've just read we've just read in the news how brother bossman who who performed and did black panther and all of those feats and all of those acts he did it with cancer in the fourth stage and in between chemo he was a superhero because you can walk with it it might not be perfect but you can walk with it you might have to walk on yourself oh my god i feel the anointing of the holy ghost but you can walk with it i know the devil's been telling you you can't take anymore and you can't stand it and you got to run and you got to get away and you got to fight back but god is saying go show yourself to the priest how can i go like this you can walk with it if it were not possible i wouldn't have challenged you the challenge is to walk on broken bones the challenge is to walk on oozing source the challenge is to walk when everything's not going right anybody can walk to the priest when everything's going good but i want you to go show yourself to the priest when all hell is breaking loose and trouble is everywhere and it looks like things are getting worse instead of better and you're down to your last time but i came to tell you you can walk with it shake yourself right now wherever you are and say i can walk with it shake yourself again and say i can walk with it every time you say it demons tremble every time you say it hell gets nervous every time you say it satan gets discouraged every time you say it principalities begin to shake say it again i can walk with it it's a heavy burden but i can walk with it i'm down to my last toe but i can walk with it i'm moving on broken bones but i can walk with it my mama don't like me but i can walk with it my sister's not speaking but i can walk with you can walk call show god self to the priests and the power is in the obedience i don't see what you're doing but i'm gonna walk i don't feel no better but i can walk it don't look like my encounter with jesus changed my life at all but i can walk and somewhere on the journey some nebulous in description we do not know exactly where along the way that they noticed it but somewhere in the struggle of walking with life as it is somewhere we don't know what moment what's sucking what milestone we don't know where they were on the journey but somewhere on the journey things began to change while they walked the miracle happened while they walked your body gets healed while you walk your marriage is delivered while you walk your relationship with your children is mended while you walk and somewhere along the way it happened it's going to happen that's why god's got you logged into this broadcast to tell you it's going to happen it hurts right now it hurts to walk like that it hurts to feel like that you're losing your balance you don't smell very good you're infected and weary you're delirious and upset but if you keep on walking somewhere along the way god is gonna do something for you and they didn't even know when it happened have you ever gotten over something and you don't even know when you did have you ever stopped grieving and you don't even know what day you stopped grieving have you ever got over depression and you can't even tell what hour what second what minutes your heart stopped bleeding and you stop looking backwards and you start looking forward god has a way of sneaking a miracle upon you he'll sneak it in oh my god he'll sneak it in i wish i had a witness out there he'll sneak it in he'll bring it right where you are he'll allow you to have an encounter with him and you don't even know that he's doing what he's doing because even when it looks like god ain't doing nothing he's still doing something even when you don't feel any better god god is still doing something even when you see no outer sign of improvement god is still god is still going i feel it in my spirit the holy ghost is nailing that in to somebody's life i'm still working you may not see it but i'm still working the bible says that while they were walking they were healed as they went and one of them one of them when he saw that they were three terms she was too healed cleansed and whole healed cleansed and whole the bible said they were healed as they went [Laughter] and that that they were cleansed but one of them saw that he was healed one out of ten one out of ten this one guy has revelation and revelation can create frustration he has a revelation number one that he is not only cleansed but that he's healed and then what do you do with this revelation do you still keep walking in what god has said because the revelation that i'm healed does not necessarily give me permission to disobey the healer but one of them said i don't know this is risky but i'm going to turn around and glorify god now the other nine kept going to the priests isn't that interesting there have been nine red heifers offered up from the days of moses until now and there were nine lepers that kept walking toward the priests only one of them got a revelation that challenged the tradition what i want you to see is not which one of the ten but which one of the priests because nine of them kept walking toward the priests that they were familiar with but one of them perceived that the real priest was behind him and the great decision that they had to make was which which one do i go with the former or the latter do i do i go with tradition or do i go with revelation i have a decision to make because i'm stuck between that which was and that which is and only one of them decided i don't have to go there to get to the priest the priest is behind me oh god can i preach this the priest the one who spoke the word is my priest and he turns around and goes with revelation over information information for centuries it says you must go to this priest to be declared clean and whole and delivered but revelation said the greater priest is behind me and i want to ask you this sunday morning which one are you going to follow the traditions of your fathers or the revelation of this moment i want to ask you you've got a decision to make either you'll keep on going after your traditions or you have the audacity to walk in your revelation and turn around and the bible said he cried with a loud voice and glorified god i wish i had somebody that would holler in here there's something about a shout that provokes a victory there's something about a shout that commands deliverance there's something about a sound that will break abby out [Music] he started shouting because he finally decided which one nine of them chose the other one but one out of ten came back to jesus wait a minute one out of ten is a tithe the tithe turned back to glorify god the mind kept walking when was the last time that you brought the tithe back to glorify god when you bring the tithe back to glorify god you are officially made whole now they were healed and they were cleansed but we don't see whole until the tithe came back to the priests the tithe glorified god the tithe lay prostrate in the floor the tithes recognize who the real priest was the tithe recognized who was the author and finisher of our faith and it was exemplified through the 10th and the temple cannot be built in jerusalem until we get to the 10th because the tithe provokes the presence of the messiah and so in our text today god bless every person who understands the principle of the tenth one that tenth one turning back to god provoked the breaking of a yoke the tearing down of a system the release of a pattern the change of a circumstance and he fell on jesus feet and glorified god because he had decided which one and then jesus asked this very complicated question where are the nine but wait a minute lord they're walking in what you told them to do yes but they're walking in an old revelation they walked in what i had said you walked in what i am saying where are the nine so the expectation was for jesus to give them a command and while they were walking in their last command for them to receive a revelation a revelation that was so overwhelming that they knew that they would not be justified through the law but be saved by grace and jesus says where are denied i'm wondering if you're walking in tradition or are you walking in present day revelation i'm wondering if you can connect the dots between getting better and recovering and who you owe the glory to which priest [Music] which place what shall i render unto the lord for all of his benefits toward me can i keep on asking god to bless me while all the ten is walking away do i have the courage to move away from the red heifer who is only a shadow of what christ is in reality the red heifer had to be pure the red heifer had to be set apart the red heifer had to be mixed with myrrh hallelujah the red heifer had to be burned with wood the red heifer cleansed the trespasses of sin jesus was crucified on wood he was nailed to a cross he is the spotless sacrifice that was offered up for not only the sins that we have committed but laid and store enough efficacious power in his blood to deal with everything that we will ever run into and you're still standing here arguing law to grace and law to grace which one the nine kept on walking and they were cleansed there's no doubt about it the bible says they were cleansed and they were healed and the bible says they were healed but only one of them was made whole you want to be whole you want to keep it 100 you want to be whole so that the point that you're no longer fragmented and needing somebody to fill you up to make up the distance between where you left off and what is still a void vacant spot in your life if you want to be whole you got to go to the right priest if you want to be whole you cannot make people your priest if you want to be whole you cannot make things your priests they become your idols if you want to be whole you got to go back to the one that spoke the word over you to begin with and lay your tithe and lay yourself and lay your burdens and lay your needs down at his feet and thereby you will have glorified god what is jesus teaching us about the one out of ten nine were cleansed nine were healed nine got blessed but the tenth one was made whole i want to talk to somebody who wants to be whole and you're running out of time and you want to be whole in your career and you want to be whole in your business and you want to be holding your finances and you want to be whole in your marriage and you want to be whole in your life and you never give anything back to the god who blessed you you don't just have nine walking you got 10 walking you walk off with everything god gave you [Music] you want his wholeness while you give him your your zero [Music] i believe there's somebody god wants to make whole on the inside [Music] in your spirit in your life [Music] he wants to fix the broken places that the the covid and everything is thrown out of place and and people are afraid of you and you're uncertain and you're afraid and you don't want anybody to touch you you don't want nobody to breathe on you people find out you had it they treat you funny all that stuff is going on today [Music] people are scared today they're waving at a distance at you they're hauling across the room at you everybody's afraid to be connected but we have a god who is a curse breaker we have a god who is a need leader we have a god who can do exceedingly abundantly above all that you may ask or think what shall i render [Music] in times like these in a time when america is locked out of europe wasn't it just a few minutes ago we were talking about walking europe out of america now we're the country in the hot sea god is turning things all the way around he's bringing us he's bringing us down to our knees he's bringing us to a place of humility he's bringing us to a point that we're gonna have to admit that we need him he's bringing us to lay prostrate at his feet and to admit maybe we're not so exceptional after all maybe god is exceptional maybe it's not about us being exceptional seeing as we're dying at greater rates in any other country maybe we need to humble down and admit that god is exceptional it can be another sunday you can go on about your day have your little brunch drink your coffee turn me off or you can turn around and go back to jesus and lay down at his feet and say i'd rather have you [Music] than any thing the red heifer could ever give me you started this you finish this i'm whole when you say i'm home i'm loose when you say i'm loose i'm free when you say i'm free i'm turning it over to you as i close this message today don't you see the time we're living in the rabbis even as i speak are looking for the right red heifer [Music] to start building and expecting the return of the messiah the whole world is shaking wars and rumors of wars earthquakes and divers strange places hurricanes meeting up and attacking from both sides diseases that have no cures you think this is a regular sunday morning please [Music] somebody has to sense that i need to turn around and lay my old on the altar i am you deserve my praise because if you hadn't spoke to me i wouldn't have been any better to god be the glory [Music] for the things he has done can i pray with you before i close today [Music] i want to pray for the person who's been a robber with your times and offerings i want to pray for the person who's been a complainer about your circumstances and you kept saying i can't walk with it i can't walk with it you can walk with it i want to pray for the person who doesn't seem to make the distinction between religion and relationship which one are you going to serve will you serve a man or will you serve god if a man can make you walk away from god god was never your god in the first place man didn't save you god save you i want to pray with you today there are some of you that are getting a revelation and you've been sensitive i need to turn around i need to change i need to take my faith more seriously i need to get myself together i need to be more disciplined you've been sensing but you haven't been acting on it you're still walking in the same direction you were walking but i want you to be the one that sees the change and turns and comes to god father in the name of jesus i lift up your sons and daughters in some way we are all lepers in some way we are all unclean in some way we all stand to far off and we shout across the room jesus have mercy on us mercy is what we need in an hour like this mercy is what we need with our country shaking like this with our world shaking like this we need you to have mercy we're getting sick and tired of being sick and tired we're tired we're tired of the fighting and the bickering and the arguing and the killings and the shootings and the hypocrisy we're tired of people going blind to pain we're tired of people looking the other way we're tired we're tired a politics taking precedence over progress we're tired of our own flesh and our own sin and our own weakness and our own hip by retired i want to be whole i want to be whole i want to be whole we want to be home that's all i want i just want to be where i just want to be home lift your hands right where you are and let it make you whole i want to be home i don't need a new house i don't need a new car i want to be home [Music] jesus i [Music] i want to be whole in my house in my marriage in my heart in my body in my mind in my spirit in my thoughts in my attitude in my giving in my living in my praying in myself i just want to be i just want to be i know i'm lost [Music] but i want to be we want to be make me whole may the grace of god [Music] and the sweet communion of the holy ghost rest and rule and abide with you is our prayer from here at the potter's house i know i'm
