all right guys welcome back so another wrap of the lich king classic video and this time the boomkin the balance druid the absolute beast of an alkyn that has gone through so many changes in wrath of the lich king that you can barely remember what it was even like to play one in tbc and i mean that genuinely it goes from being a support class that brings five percent crit to the free warlocks that are the ones actually doing the damage to an absolute machine a machine where you don't want to raid you literally don't want to raid without two or three boomies like they do they do that much damage they bring that much aoe they're that strong on single target and add so much to the raid so i'm going to tell you about all the changes everything that changed in the talents in the abilities and why you should potentially play a boomi and why i'm going to be playing a boomi on the upcoming sindragosa server actually before we get into that though please do make sure you like the video just drop lich king was the introduction of the eclipse mechanic and i hate to recycle content but let me just tell you a few words out of a video that i'd done about the evolution of the balance druid just to give you a bit of an idea of how good this is going to be so raffle the lich king changed balanced druids in so many ways and now it's not a class you settle for one of they actually start to pump some serious big boy numbers as morgan just said i've even had people say to me they would postpone lich king heroic fights if their boomies couldn't make the raid night that sounds crazy but let's look at why that would even happen no longer keeping ferry fire up for your friends you now keep it up for you you get three percent credit from it being up and three percent here it's the era of the selfish moonkin who can melt any single target or pack of targets in front of so that was just a small section of a much larger video where i went over the boomi changes over seven years basically from vanilla all the way to cataclysm or the end of cataclysm but it wasn't as detailed as this is about to be so let's jump in game look at the talents and look at the major changes in the talents we're not going to focus on ones that have just shifted about or changed wording slightly or anything like that we'll look at the big game changing talents to the boomi and what has now made them viable the first thing we should probably start with is moonkin form itself because this plays a massive part on actually being able to keep your mana up we know umkin everyone says umkin raph of the lich king it's not on umkin because your crits give you mana back but let's have a look so yes your crits give you mana back like i said so shape shift into moonkin form while in this form the armor contribution from items is increased by 370 damage taken while stunned is reduced by 15 and all party and raid members have their spell crit chance increased by 5 single target this is the big bit single target spell critical strikes in this form have a chance to instantly regenerate 2 of your total manner the moonkin cannot cast healing or resurrection spells while shape-shifted which that's not changed but this is huge because when we then look at the talents which we know we already get dream state which generates mana equal to ten percent of your intellect every five seconds we also get a bunch of talents that can if you choose to take them reduce the mana cost of your spells by up to nine percent and we get so many talents to increase the chance of critical strike so you're creating quite a lot so you're getting that two percent mana back quite frequently now don't obsess too much over what these talent choices are when we're looking at this now because this is not the spec that you would choose to have for pve but when we look straight away the a good place to start would be you'll you'll be looking and you'll be like where's nature's grasp gone well nature's grasp actually just becomes an ability you train it's not something you need to talent into and it's useful for every druid spec so it's good that we don't need to waste talent points on it anymore but in this place we've got genesis which increases the damage and healing done by your periodic spell damage and healing effects by one percent so we're gonna get five percent on our dots if we take this as i say don't fixate on this spell respect too much we've also now got nature's grace which obviously was nature's grace before which used to reduce the casting time of your next spell by half a second after a critical strike whereas now what it does is all non-periodic spell crits have a hundred percent chance to grace you with blessing of nature increasing your spell casting speed by 20 for three seconds we also now get nature's splendor which increases the duration of moon fire and rejuve spells by three seconds your regrowth by six seconds and your insects woman life bloom by two seconds so this is just another way that's assisting you in keeping your dots up which moon fire and insect swarm being up are very important especially as we get further down in the talent tree and you start to see why there's other minor things that have been added which as i say i'm not going to go over everything but things like celestial focus which reduces the pushback of when you cast in at starfire also increases increase your total spell haste as well now by three percent as i said there's a lot of these abilities that have had extra little bits just tacked on but i'm more interested in talking about the big ones that have changed like improved insect swarm so improved insects one requires three points but increases your damage done by your raft spells to the targets afflicted by your insects one by three percent and increases the critical strike chance of your starfire spells by three percent on targets affected by moon fire so the reason this is important is because this operates really well alongside your eclipse mechanic which we will get to shortly we've also now got improved moon kim form which your moonkin aura also causes affected targets to get three percent haste so you're now actually bringing five percent crit and three percent haste and thirty percent of your spirit as additional spell power but the spell power is just your gain it's not your party or raids gain and this is what i mentioned at the start when we took us an excerpt from a previous videos your furry fire spell also increases the chance the target will be hit by spell attacks by one percent and increases the critical strike chance of your damage spells by one percent on targets afflicted by fury fire so yes it's still got the tbc mechanic but now you also get spell crit from it as well we've got al kim frenzy which is actually really useful on certain fights but it's probably looked at as a pvp mechanic but attacks done to you while in moonkin form of a five percent chance to cause you to go into a frenzy increasing your damage by ten percent causes you to be immune to pushback while casting balance spells and restores two percent based manner every two seconds they're making our way further down eclipse i've already mentioned eclipse but when you critically hit with starfire you got 100 chance of increasing the damage done by your wrath and when you're critically hit with raph you have a 60 chance of increasing the critical strike chance of your starfire now the aim here is to basically spam raf until you get a proc and then spam starfire until you get another proc and then go backwards and forwards whilst keeping your hots up your dots up and like i said at the start when the stars align no pun intended this can be absolutely beautiful and you can get some real good synergy get some real big single target numbers out but what is a boom he's really known for and it's it's incredible aoe so gel wins increases the damage done by a hurricane and typhoon by 30 and increases the range of cyclone which we're not too bothered about cyclone at the moment but typhoon is a knockback which used correctly there's nothing wrong with taking typhoon and using it but your hurricane having no cooldown now it's changed in wrath of the lich king which we will get to shortly and getting 30 extra damage from it is absolutely huge but then moving even further down so earth and moon your wrath and starfire spells have a hundred percent chance to apply the earth and moon effect which increases spell damage taken by 13 for 12 seconds and it also increases your spell damage by 6 percent now this is not a boomy unique buff you're not the only person or should i say debuff because it's going on a target you're not the only person that can bring this debuff dk's for example can bring it as well but it's still a huge reason to have a boomie in your raid and then finally the big one the big pumper starfall which you can make even better with glyphs as well you summon a flurry of stars from the sky on targets within 36 yards of the caster each dealing 145 to 167 arcane damage also causes 26 arcane damage to all other enemies within 5 yards of the enemy target maximum 20 stars last 10 seconds now you can shrink the range and increase the damage with a glyph which you probably will do it will just require you to position better but it also reduces the chance you ninja pulling because it does literally try and attack anything within 36 yards and the amount of boom is out there in raph classic when it comes out that will be ninja pulling with starfall is going to be cringe worthingly bad it's not even a word but starfall and hurricane in on the same pack is just nuts the aoe is mental and it's only a one and a half minute cooldown so you can use it quite frequently really a big pumping ability we're gonna have to just dip into the resto tree just for a second just to see what resto talent you're going to want as a balanced dryer because you are going to want to go down for a few a few tears obviously this is a good time to tell you that the other reason you're not going to have mana issues is because you will take oman of clarity and omen of clarity now procs off of spells as well this is huge and it's passive you don't even need to remember to buff it you take it in resto you have it on all the time but you're going to want to start with improved mark of the wild because you're going to get 2 additional stats so that's a big change to that talent and it only requires two points you're also going to want to benefit from the increased intellect that you're going to get while in moonkin form by taking furore and ultimately you want to work your way down to master shapeshifter which is the new talent new talent for all druid specs and all druid specs are going to want to take it which increases your spell damage by four percent so you're going to get ominous clarity 10 extra intellect 2 all attributes and 4 spell damage all just for a matter of 13 points in the resto tree it really is that good that's why when choosing the balance talents you've got to be really careful you've got to know what you want because you have to get those 13 points in the resto tree because they're obviously extremely useful and this is the great thing about raf especially as a druid there really are meaningful choices to be made in the talents because you can't get everything you want you have to think do i want to sacrifice aoe or do i want to sacrifice a single target but let's have a quick look at the abilities now so we've looked at the talents we've spoken a little bit about what boomi is about in wrath let's just look at what abilities have changed or what abilities you've gained actually you haven't gained a lot and you've only got to look at my bar down here to see that because yes we've still got moonfire insect swarm that we're going to be keeping up we're going to be swapping between raf and starfire quite frequently and we've got our starfall that we've already spoken about so the more important thing here is about the changes to abilities rather than abilities that are added because as a boomi you genuinely don't really get much so the big things that have been changed is entangling roots can now be used indoors as can nature's grasp so this is this is brilliant because this means you can now bring meaningful cc to a group and in actual fact a very reliable cc that not only is keeping its cc'd it's also doing a little bit of damage as well so win-win like i've already said hurricane has had its cooldown removed completely which means it is spammable but yeah you're gonna have mana problems i'm in feral gear at the moment that's why it looks like i'm having even bigger mana problems innovate three minute cooldown now instead of six minutes that's huge so if you're using your innovate on yourself you're never gonna have any issues and like you can see if you look up here i actually just from using innovate just got a clear casting proc as well then the only other one that's really big in my opinion is rebirth so rebirth has been halfed it used to be a 20 minute cooldown in tbc it's now 10 minute cooldown in rough and you can get a glyph which removes the reagent requirement which will lead us nicely into looking at what glyphs a boom he gets so in case you don't know glyphs were introduced in wrath of the lich king with a profession inscription so inscription can make all all glyphs low level glyphs high level glyphs you know as they progress through their inscription journey i'm sure i could have worded that better but anyway the the glyphs basically change an ability it doesn't change it completely but changes maybe how it mechanically works a little bit or maybe it just flat out increases his damage or reduces his mana cost or you know it changes a lot of abilities in a lot of different ways so let's have a look at what druid glyphs you can get and when i say druid of course i mean balance so glyphos starfire is pretty much a no-brainer your starfire ability increases the duration of your moonfire effect on the target by three seconds up to a maximum of nine seconds this is something you're absolutely gonna want and then we get glyph of moon fire which increases the periodic damage of your moon fire ability by 75 percent but the initial damage is decreased by 90 percent now we are more bothered about the periodic damage of this and increasing its periodic damage with our talents so this for me is another sort of go-to glyph then you've got glyph starfall which reduces the cooldown of starfall by 30 seconds so now it's only a minute cooldown which makes it really good but you as i say you do need to manage that range when we look at the minor ones you this is going to be the same for every druid video i do glyph of unburden rebirth reagent free combat res glyph of the wild just to reduce the mana cost of mark of the world and gift of the world and then glyph of thorns which just when you put thorns on yourself increases the duration by 50 minutes there is also a really good one that gets overlooked quite a lot which is glyph of dash which reduces the cooldown of your dash ability by 20 now we know that's for feral but in actual fact there'll be a lot of circumstances where you know you'll switch to kitty form and then dash out of a mechanic or something like that so you know it reduces the cooldown by 20 you can use it and maybe even if you only get to use it an extra time in a fight or something like that could be more useful than the thorns glyph or i at least would say it's more useful than the thorns glyph there are other glyphs that's not an extensive list they're just the ones that i think are worth mentioning in regards to a balanced druid and then briefly you know when we're talking rotation it really is a case of keeping your dots up switching between raph and starfire to get your eclipse procs use starfall on big aoe packs hurricane aoe packs you know it's not really that complicated it's nowhere near as complicated as when we're talking about the feral dps druid
