What Will YOU Do When They Come Knockin'? (Tough Topics For Discussion Series)

[Music] hey guys and gals and YouTube blam this is Patton Heights ranked country homestead god is good oh I'm so curious question what would you do in a situation when let's say you had a cataclysmic event you had an EMP or zombie apocalypse or because we leave those zombies they're out there perché major earthquake or something like that we're talking about a major situation so what will you do in that event when people are already telling you well we'll just come over to your house in a situation when you've been preparing taking the time and foregoing trips to Disneyland or whatever it is you're doing is sacrifices you've made mm-hmm what would you do in a situation like that would you turn them away or would you bring them all in all your friends and family and neighbors and all the rest of this city all the rest are deadbeats sorry so this is a very interesting subject because some of this might sound cold something might sound reasonable so that might sound like the lemon I know think about it until it happens well all these things is it's a it's a good idea to consider hypothetically what you knew right now what you would do hypothetically what you would do in real life are two different things you know so just opening up we're just opening up the floor for discussion and also what we think that we might do in a situation like this because we've thought about it and you know we've had people jovially say well we'll just come to your house well maybe we don't have enough to feed you and us too maybe we went through all the troubles and trials to made all those sacrifices like you mentioned exactly we've thought about all this stuff we've put things in place we've been putting our money and time into investing into these situations that may or may not may not happen we don't sit here and worry about it we don't stress about it we don't lose sleep over it yep but it's just some things that we've slowly over the years have been adding to in the event something does happen again a job loss a medical issue short-term power outage yeah all kinds of different things that could could arise and and having the ability to go into the back room or out into the shop or whatever and be able to resource goods and materials water and food is something that we should all be thinking about Heidi has got a few things that she's gonna read in response to a conversation she was having with somebody on her yeah our last prepping videos yeah yeah and there's you know for you folks that believe in the Bible there is a couple of Bible verses that back up what we say and that can also be controversial to some folks who weigh heavily on the love and forgiveness side of things so there's got to be again a balance to everything that we do all right so let me go ahead and read these comments and then we're gonna talk a little bit more about this so we just did a video where we read a bunch of comments from that prepping video and I set this one aside because I wanted to talk about it in a separate its own topic so anyway this one was from Linda Chandler she said the joke among some of my friends and families Linda we know where we're going if it gets bad that is funny and it's flattering but seriously always store way more than you need if it gets close to going out-of-date donate it to a homeless shelter or something and restock in rotation is best so you're not having a big expense all at once so you know she throws them a little tip there too but that comment we've heard that so many times when we've tried to encourage friends and family that you know it'd be a really good idea to you know kind of think about your future and what may or may not happen you know in a catastrophe whether it be a minor catastrophe which is mostly what we prepare for the minor things that happen to our own little world or a major one and you know oh well we'll just come to your house well everybody says that did everybody think that we are going to be able to have enough to supply all of them especially when they were not willing to do it in the first place well here what here was my response as I said that is that is one that always bothers me those that know you were doing what you are doing and assuming you will have enough for all of them when they should be taking the measures to take care of their own selves we do want to be able to help friends and family but if they are going to be lazy during the time they are able to start putting up for themselves how much help will they be when times get hard and they come around depending on us and then grace replied to that and she said exactly people used to say crazy stuff to my husband because we garden he would tell them if they wanted to spend their money on pleasures they needed to eat those pleasures if things got hard but they might not like how they were met if they showed up and had repeatedly refused to do anything when money was good so I thought that was excellent so if you're gonna put all your time resources and my in two trips to Disneyland and Las Vegas and not that these are bad things necessarily but or you know buying all the fancy-schmancy latest thing because you got to have the latest car every time it comes out or the latest purse are the latest pair of sparkling but jeans if that's where your concern is well then that's that's what you're gonna have to depend on when times get hard so this sounds again this sounds really cold but we'll go on and talk about some other options in a minute so it suits perfectly but sparkly but yeah I did I don't maybe the sparkly about jeans aren't as popular as they were I don't know I don't keep up on fashion anymore cuz I don't care but then the next comment was from Elizabeth cope who said whenever they say they are coming here this I love this whenever they say they are coming here pull out the coffee can and tell them it's time to start contributing you could always dress up the coffee can with it H SH TF motif display it's a there's the can kiddos lol love that what a great idea yeah we do have a responsibility to educate and warm right it's really important to try to be a support to especially your family members your yeah your your kids and your your parents and different things and there are situations where you do have a responsibility to take care of of your kids and your parents and Widow and some of your close friends but you know if you've gone out of your way to warn them about a savings account whether it be food or money or whatever and they end up in hard times well you've got to make some hard choices at that point there there are unforeseen things that that would completely void our right main basic frame of thought here and I'm not you know everything is situational every situation is gonna require a little bit of variance there so this is not a hard fast rule for anyone and some people might think that it's very very cruel that we would just simply say no you know we saved up for ourselves and we've learned you about it there's several situations in the Bible that talks about you know like the ten virgins man that doesn't work don't eat Tattler Frank paraphrase very much of a paraphrase you know Noah this story and you got Joseph and his story there's a lot of different things out there you know if you guys are inclined to be Christians and thinking along those lines was also mercy he got have mercy God have mercy on those who persecute you and you got mercy on those who are close to you that need help so there's you know there's not a hard fast line here registers variances to that that's definitely if you take someone in they have to contribute somehow they have to contribute yes they're absolutely unable to and then that's those are some of the people that probably couldn't help themselves to begin with to get themselves into that right you know you take some anything like my father I mean he's helped me out so many times you can't outgive the man and so I mean that's a no-brainer I mean you know he's in I mean he's right he's definitely in but you either select family members yeah we have we have people those of you know work hard exactly close close to those who may not have been prepping per se but who are definitely contributors right would be welcome and we're not gonna stand here and name off everybody no because that can change in a moment yes so definitely situational yep so I want to read that scripture he mentioned from second Thessalonians 3:10 for even when we were with you this we commanded you that if any would not work neither shall he eat so there's this responsibility we are all supposed to have and that plays into this next verse which can go either way whether you're the prepper with people showing up on your door or you're the person laughing off the prepper saying oh I'm going to show up at your place so this can't apply to either side and this is from first Timothy 5:8 but if any provide not for his own and especially for those of his own house he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel now you can you can look at these verses and say well that's not what they're talking about here the idea is very prevalent here again there's the 10 virgins you know that what happened to the five that weren't prepared they were they were shut out they're shut out now so they weren't allowed in there's definitely definitely some to consider and you know we're not hard and fast on this rule right but you know we're certainly not gonna be taken in you know dendi's and that you know and again that's talking about people who have the ability whether it be financially or physically or whatever to be able to put themselves in a better position but they refused to because they prefer to live in the moment um I have a lot of there's a lot of people out there that we care about a lot that are that way that unfortunately they will you know it's very likely they won't be able to come to us in the time of need because they were told you know we've tried to warn them we've got laughed at we've got you know totally were crazy and or we got to oh we'll just show up your place okay and how many other people plan on showing up but you might show up at our place but you see nice boldness that you might receive it right depending on the person you are you know who you are and I want to reiterate again that this we're talking about a major catastrophe that affects everyone all at once because in that kind of situation you cannot take care of everyone but if it's a catastrophe like a family member who's going through their own catastrophe and you are because you're prepared you're able to help them and we mention this in another video then yes I believe it is our responsible responsibility to help that person and again that's also going to be situational depending on that person and what did they do to get themselves into that situation was it their own irresponsibility and just being stupid and maybe they they got themselves deep in debt because they felt they had to have this and then they had something break down it's like no you're gonna have to figure out that one on your own but but yeah I mean there's people you know deaths in the family or somebody comes down sick I mean these are things that are not controllable and you're gonna we're supposed to have compassion right we're supposed to have compassion and mercy yeah grace a little bit of grace sometimes so anyway so the point of this wasn't just to share our own opinions and thoughts that we know may very likely change you know as time goes on or in a major catastrophe situation but it was also to open up the floor because I would like to hear more of what people have to say what are your ideas what have you thought about in in any of these narratives whether it be you know a really close family member that you've worn or whatever it is yeah we really want to hear your thoughts on that so go ahead and put those comments down below and very likely I'll probably do a follow-up video or we will probably do a follow-up video reading your comments or maybe a couple if we get a lot of really good comments we might have to do series on that too yeah do a little thinking and planning now before yeah before it strikes again no matter how much planning or how much theorizing that you do unless something like this happens that could all be out the window yeah yeah you know you could change your mind and say absolutely nobody in or you know you might just have compassion on people and this might be a sporadic automatic thing that you just open your doors to everybody and there's supposed to be a limit because you can't you can't just you can't support their penal world because then you're coming back to the fact that if you take care of everyone else what about your own family that you have a responsibility to like I read here from first Timothy about you know the one that doesn't take care of his own family is worse than an infidel I mean you got to put your own family first in this situation doing again I think that still depends on
