What if Terraria was 100x Harder...

so fargo soul mod has made its way to t-mode loader 1.4 and with it comes eternity mode one of the hardest challenges you can ever face in terraria back in the day i took on this challenge and i won but it took a lot of pain to get there and today i wanted to see how much muscle memory has actually survived the test of time so it's my goal in today's video to take down the eternity mode version of the ive cthulhu and obtain one of my favorite modded weapons of all time it's gonna be a challenge but let's do it so my random world name is intense planes and i just feel like it's not it's not appropriate right intense pains even better right so brand new world fargo's music mod is not found also i don't have that all right so our ears will begin to suffer so how do i turn on eternity mode it's been so long that i just don't remember ah that's it you got a little mutant man okay let me take that from you so mutants gift material world must be in expert mode toggles eternity mode deviant provides a starter pack and progress based advice improves base stats debuffs wear off faster when not attacking cannot be used while a boss is alive not intended for use with other cons okay all right that's fine deviant has awoken eternity mode activated this is so exciting hey the world looks tougher than usual so you can have these on the house just this once talk to me if you need any tips yeah attorney advisor suggests loadout for eternity mode based on progression that's really cool that's like hey you don't want to open the wikipedia here we go don't worry about me by the way i'm fine don't worry about that just ignore the fact that these are slimes of a bow on there just absolutely already stomping me a little bit so i wonder if this is actually like as hard as i remember because i remember it was really hard but i know towards the end it was more about like uh muscle memory more than anything i can't remember how much the the beginning light sucked the good thing is we've got all this starting gear so i'm just gonna i'm just gonna get rid of some of this i am a scrub no longer so even though i'm just just reaping the rewards of three things wait is that custom accessory euros socks ah it's weird puff in a bottle so i haven't played a lot of modded 1.4 the only big thing i've played so far is uh terraria overall and that doesn't add in modded items instead it overhauls terraria so i'm not really used to seeing modded 1.4 like this because the last time i played it i was playing the clicker class and that was like that was a long time ago that might have to make sure i have somewhere during the night time just so when the zombies and eyes start to spawn in it's it's not like a total nightmare do you know what i mean i'm definitely preparing for the future starting off with this pickaxe though is is amazing it really is you forget how slow terraria is when you've just like finished like a really extreme you know intense adventure and then you come back to you know just like the beginning of the game you're like oh it's a drag so as i'm playing this little bits are kind of coming back to me if i remember right it's not the beginning of the game that's the absolute worst it's when you want to try and fight a boss because if i remember right the learning curve just to beat the first boss is like unlike anything you've ever experienced in terraria and that's the point i want to get up to in today's video so stick around because you're actually about to witness what was called masochist mode all right remember it straight this was masochist mode eternity is because that's how long it takes to beat it oh that's pretty interesting actually i don't think this is down to the nord but jungle is is really close like look at that i don't think i've had a world where the jungle's been this close in a really long time if ever to be honest usually i get it when my world is like straight of corruption or crimson now here's the thing i'm definitely gonna die if i go and grab that chest and i don't really want to do we have a recall potion we do okay right let's do this um wait is the piranha going to get me right okay all and and we we leave all right pro strats what do we get swiftness potions ah look at this an actual cave this is amazing this is all i ever wanted i am i'm through with terraria worlds where there's absolutely nothing because recently when i've just been like playing on my own that's the worlds i've been getting all right my youtuber bad luck continues off-screen you know as unfortunate as that is yeah i i feel like this is gonna be all right we're gonna have a fine time until we try a boss there's a gold chest there i really want it i'm just gonna be oh wait we also have ore extractor if you were wondering that that is not like the blocks trying to collapse around me and kill me just to be aware it just makes things uh easier to mine right so we got away from the slimes we can build our way up we don't have a weapon yet that's why i'm being so uh so cautious essentially okay why do i feel like this is a trap it's not a trap great definitely felt like one though i feel very on edge um oh we got grenades though grenades and shuriken not bad look at that what i like about eternity mode is it it's not like oh your weapons they do nothing now now your weapons still do stuff it's just more like if i remember writes about status debuffs you know what i mean like it stacks really quickly oh okay and things like that things like that where they just duplicate okay i want to get over here because i did see another uh another chest it's only a brown one so there's actually some lead here and i want to make sure to grab this as well because i feel like the night time really is going to be awful and i don't want to waste my time with that so if i grab lead we'll hopefully be able to make a bed because i've got some uh some cobwebs so that's decent at least oh it was that chest that's what i was thinking of i was looking around with this brown chest that just like wasn't there anymore oh looks like we're coming into a blue mushroom biome now if we're fortunate here there'll be water here yep that was right i mean i was a little bit delayed with that almost looks like i was trying to prophesy something i'd already seen but hey it is what it is and this is something for the eye of cthulhu which is great so it's not something we've got to worry about and we can sleep through the nights now guilt-free so we do get a a cloud in a bottle now yeah that actually does stack that's great because we get that little like what's it called like a puff in a bottle i didn't know if that was gonna allow us to actually like synergize or whatever the puff in a bottle though it is just like a normal one isn't it yeah allows the holder to double jump ah okay so it doesn't synergize interesting i guess you sell this one though because then you can keep your cloud in a bottle and use that for like mega accessories so my plan for the eye of cthulhu which i know is a little bit weird to start planning out because we are so early in this adventure we're gonna need every single movement accessory possible so we're going to need hermes boots we've already got a double jump that's fine then we're going to need a really banging set of armor we're going to need a really banging weapon i imagine we're probably going to use a bow right a bow is probably the the best bet that we've got here and then we'll also need like the best hook available in a really long platform we might need two long platforms but if i remember right that's the right preparations so we might do some jump cuts here but i'm just going to basically run around and just grab whatever i can is that a trap chest whenever i play 1.4 now i just i just don't trust anything oh okay first death not bad so got hit with confusion multiple bats don't worry about it i think the thing i need to do now is actually just like organize my stuff anyway so i'm not exactly sure what's going on with this uh world gem because look at this right regular world there's also a squirrel don't mind him jungle here like corruption's here now i know that that's possible but does not not seem weird to you like as a terraria fan are you not like what why because i am like i'm perplexed um but that being said i am not gonna miss the opportunity to get a free musket so just one more bomb we should have it knowing eternity mode it's just gonna spawn no okay then all right i was like it's going to spawn the world i know it okay we got the musket and they've also built two more houses so we could potentially get an arms dealer hey look at that gravitation potions sold it 30 stack okay all right interesting and we got the arms dealer this world is blessed it truly is like we're here to demonstrate something that's meant to be like truly awful and the world's like now james you've had a hard week we know about the virus we'll make it nice look at that a new item has been unlocked in the deviant shop so cool i wonder what the item is because it's a worm is it a whoppy cushion is that what that is i do not know i tell you what i'm taking this chest i tell you what let's go back actually let's just go buy the the the musket balls now okay armstealer talk to me sir uh why are you selling the nurses outfit right now are you meant to sell that this early i wish i wish i hadn't bought any of these now i wish i'd invested all my money into this interesting okay right so let's see what the deviant's selling is it gonna be a whoppy cushion a worm snack summons giant worms and pretty hard modes summons diggers in hard mode okay interesting right let's head up to the sky so first house what's it gonna be i will honestly take anything at this point all right because because to be honest all items are good shiny red balloon i'll take it those harpies do not seem great though that that doesn't seem uh normal to me at all okay right let's bail on that and we'll head back up so second house what are we gonna find hopefully not the same thing let's see oh okay so we got fledgling wings now i do wonder if in i probably shouldn't let myself die then i wonder if in eternity mode we're actually going to be able to use that or not the uh sorry the negating of fall damage also bear with the voice all right my first symptom of the virus was like the throat thing you know so it's still kind of there all right uh let's equip those then let's get rid of the uh the balloon so let's test the fall damage [Music] oh it works okay i kind of thought they would like debuff that that's amazing all right that's really good also what do you sell sir top hat scroll oh it sells like npcs okay great awesome just have a little look at these uh skeletons by the way this actually sums up eternity mode pretty well you think oh it's fine regular skeleton no when they die they explode into bones so it's like it's got a double effect and learning all that about all the different enemies is what's gonna save us in the long run so i have a splunk potion so i'm just gonna go through and see if i can grab any more like life crystals or just you know accessories because we still have stuff to go my goal is if you have enough movement accessories we might be able to sneak into the jungle kind of like worm our way around a little bit and maybe we might be able to grab uh jungle armor which would be sick also look at this life crystal hey look at that hermes boots the world is blessed like truly blessed like what is this i feel like i feel like true terraria pity is what i'm getting here that's literally all we need god that was so quick how long have we been playing 40 minutes and we've done this much oh this is this is banging all right somebody contact the uh guinness book of world records all right we got a speed run on our end the blood moon is rising the blood moon changed its mind and left the blood moon falls past the horizon the blood moon is terrified of our progress that's what's happened here hey we got a whoopee cushion no way i feel like it's very fitting because we were joking about it let me pick it up what where's it gone wait wait a minute did it disappear no wait no it's it's down there all right i've been trolled by the whoopee cushion itself glorious and i still can't pick it up i'm being i'm being a this is my new battle cry so the thoughts only just popped into my head but i should probably do king slime like here i am like oh i need to do the eye of cthulhu no i should probably do king slime because if i remember right you get like a good item from king slime and that will help you do that i've cthulhu so that's definitely on the list but i'm thinking with this golden opportunity here let's actually make sure that we uh loot everything in the jungle you know or like get jungle armor before we do either so i guess the best possible outcome i could ask for from this from diving down would be a boom stick and then obviously everything for jungle armor but a boom stick would be like such an upgrade over a musket oh no oh no wait let me out oh god what is this what was that ah what was that i just saw her on the screen though as i was like dying the little curser thing i was too busy looking at all of this what is this so this is like eternity mode that i have anything that was seen today that shows it really well that's the kind of thing that makes the mod hard just like random little changes like that that just you know they they stack up they stack up all right i've got so many of these i'm just selling them i've also got a lot of pair of homies boots and also clown bottles so i'm selling them as well so i want to be careful this time not to get caught by the money uh like i've got to actually take this seriously this time otherwise it's an endless battle of like guitar hero whatever that was it looked like guitar hero okay just gotta be careful so we need to get i think it's 10 stingers or 12 stingers 2 vines and 32 spore i think that's right did that one just give me a stinger it didn't right or did it because that's kind of cool what's great about eternity mode is i don't have to worry about spawn rates all right spawn rates come to me we're going to get there in absolutely no time we've already got more than enough vines looking at this we're going to have enough stingers in no time and then it's just gonna be a case of getting spore and spoil is like come on it's out of all the free things you need it's by far the easiest oh wait okay they tried to sneak up behind me sorry i'm two steps ahead right so after a very quick trip in the jungle we have everything for the full set of jungle armor we've already done it hell yeah i mean that was like i mean that was pretty good right what a great time in terraria so that's all about to change because i feel like we are ready now the king's slime but i do feel like a boom stick would be better but what are you gonna do if you don't have a boomstick you don't have a boomstick although if we made this a graveyard could we get the quad barrel shotgun or did they did they change that in progression right so we'll make a a slimy crown now the unfortunate part about this is we've only really got one shot at this and it's a very hard boss fight like every time we attempt it we're gonna need new rubies we're gonna need more gel so this might become a bit of a slog but don't worry about it i'm here for the slop i'll save you the time let's give this a go this could instantly be regret okay here it is okay yep no it's it's a bit of regret so we've got to be careful so oh i remember this i remember this so you've got the spikes that fly out you've got the slimy balls that drop from the sky and you've got to avoid both of them while also dealing with the fact that there is a giant blue king slime about i think this is going to be a case of maintaining balance so like enjoying the fact we've built a big arena but then also regretting the fact that it's probably not big enough you know what i mean i imagine and i can't remember if this is the case but this is probably a boss fight that's gonna despawn if we move too far away you know it's probably gonna there you go that's it i knew it had something extra to it i was like i swear this had an extra flavor but i was gonna say it's probably a fight that's gonna despawn if you move away so like we can't really rely on that for me when it comes to a fight like this it's when you have to go back on yourself that it gets really nerve-wracking because then you've got to face all those enemies you're left behind like oh i don't have to worry about you so far though this is going pretty well if there's a third phase maybe not okay all right be careful oh no see this is the thing you've got to be cautious because if you get hit the knockback is just gonna like slam you into the rest of the attacks and obviously king slime's only gonna get faster but it would be sick if this would give us something for oh we did it that's it you get the blade you get the blade the blade is like is the bomb.com now i'm working off of like two years ago memory essentially the slime king slasher have a little look at this look at that it's pretty sick right so you can use this for the eye of cthulhu pretty much i don't know if it's like that good that i have cthulhu but i think it's like just good enough slimy shield equippable can be worn in vanity slots two defense material grants immunity to slimed increases four damage when you land after a jump slime will fall from the sky over your cursor torn from the innards of a defeated foe so if we replace that with the walking boots and open this up that was a pretty good little boss fight i actually really enjoyed that i do feel pretty prepared though for the i've cthulhu so if i remember right there's a bit of a gimmick with the eye of cthulhu with its ai where there's a portion of the fight where you want to turn back on it rather than running away like naturally you'll be like oh i've got to run away at this point that's when you lose and i'm interested to see if that kind of like muscle memory is going to come back to me so just to be extra cautious i'm going to extend this platform a little bit because there was a couple of times during the king slime where i thought you know this could probably go the other way is it nighttime already okay i'm actually a little bit nervous for this now the thing is we've got three attempts at this so that's not too bad watch out slime okay right we want to take that that we want to make sure that we've got a buff uh night owl swiftness let's give this a go i'm i'm actually like really pumped oh wait no wait what is it not nighttime oh right it's a little bit early i thought once you saw the stars in the sky it was time okay right so here it is here's the eye of cthulhu i can't really remember what to do like i thought the muscle memory would come back but i'm looking at it and i'm like i remember you being blue i remember you being blue but i don't remember much else all i remember is that there's demon scythes as well and that's maybe when you start going back oh i should be doing this i gotta remember that so with our with our accessory every time we jump there is like slimy balls that launch onto our cursor and if you time it right it goes really well so this first little bit not so bad actually not that bad but this is eternity mode and as you've seen from the king slime it doesn't stay easy sure i mean okay right this is it this is what i remember okay the sprite's different i know that like if i remember right like when i last played this it was like a simple recoloring okay let's see if i can remember when you need to turn back on yourself okay so far it seems fairly normal all right maybe i've made a bigger deal out of this no i haven't okay that's it it's when it does this you're meant to you're meant to teleport there is that it is that right no surely not i think it's maybe the third phase okay let's see is that it no okay now you teleport that's what i remember though i remember this there's a point in the fight where you're meant to like go back the other way did i just mess that one up it's honestly hard to tell i'm not really paying too much attention to my elf because i'm just kind of nervous about it god if we do this on the first go though that really shows that muscle memory can stick around for a very long time because i haven't done this since like uh i think i think before the world went out you know you know what i'm talking about like 2019 times oh this is it okay okay now you go that way right no no you go this way no oh no okay that works okay now you go this way this was it so you've got to stand around and go the opposite way or something like that no okay right i've messed it up okay but i think i remember it i think i remember it so it's just gonna be about remembering that final little phase then it seems like okay don't fumble now my heart is beating faster than i expected i'm not gonna lie to you okay i messed that a little bit this is the thing if you commentate over a game you're bound to be worse this is the the rules of being a youtuber am i i feel like i'm messing this up a little bit in terms of like actually hitting the boss okay right so run this way and then run back the other way no run that way no okay okay it's going this way run that way is that how that works okay spawns here run towards it yeah there you go there you go spawns here run towards it i mean i'm kind of not doing it okay wait for it are you coming back okay run towards i don't feel like i'm hitting it anymore i need to be a little bit better at it to be fair okay ways are gonna spawn here keep running towards it that avoids the shots the only problem is now i'm just not dealing damage so this is where like i need to probably start jumping and such oh no fumbled it bought we did better we did do better i'm going into it okay we're actually gonna do it just gotta rely on the bow i'm gonna rely on patience gotta rely on timing my idea is we play the long game and we just keep walking forward slowly that's my goal i actually think this might work i'm not even kidding i don't know what i'm aiming at like i'm actually a little bit nervous to aim okay right going this way there we go that's all right take out my npcs after this i won't be needing them okay it is going well i feel like i'm just wasting arrows oaks i'm like i'm actually hitting nothing am i right walk a little bit faster there we go that's the safe zone how many of this mumbling will i cut out of the video probably a lot of it that doesn't matter okay let's go let's go oh god it's got so little health left okay now walk oh there we go i actually did it wow that was really hard that was probably a lot harder than that should have been that was sick though i really enjoyed that i really really enjoyed that did i not get a weapon from that no way did i not get a weapon from that oh did i wait what's this i didn't see i remember there being like a sick weapon like there was a banging reason to do this back in the day i'm really hoping it's in the back okay right so let's go over here so we got the agitating lens grants immunity to berserk when below half hp you gain 10 increased damage speed and attack speed while dashing or running quickly you create a trail of demon scythes okay that's a sick accessory let's have a look at it there we go okay amazing so i feel like this video needs a proper conclusion and a proper conclusion is definitely getting that i've cthulhu weapon because if i remember right it's really good i don't want to ruin it so i'm gonna wait until night time and give it a go i have like i've got confidence i feel like uh i feel like we're doing it unlike my throat we aren't gonna survive all right did we get it oh we got it all right we we got it okay the strong leash of cthulhu a truly iconic weapon especially if you're part of couch gang all right don't know what that is second channel chippy's couch items in the game here it is this was worth the effort so it's like uh well it's like a little eye of cthulhu it's a little eye of cthulhu that you slap enemies about with and if you slap them you get a little eye wait for it wait for it look at him look at my little eyeballs oh
