hey guys welcome back to the gunroom today we're going to be taking apart the Waffen works ak-74 so with that let's get started alright guys we got the Waffen works ak-74 here we're going to take it apart but first things first go check to make sure that she's unloaded so let's get started the ak-74 comes with a standard 30 round magazine these are Tapco magazines that are really really good let's get rid of your magazine and then all you do is pull the bolt back see that it's unloaded nothing's chambered so with that the firearm is now city checked we can start the disassembly alright now that the firearm is safe to check we're going to start the disassembly this is a wall fan works ak74 and first things first we're gonna start by removing the dust cover the receiver cover you just push this in right here and it'll lift straight up just like that so that's your desk cover really thin and the next step is to remove your carrier spray this guy right here and I got to do is put your thumb right here my hands are kind of dirty already done this you just push it back and lift straight up so little slots right there right in the dovetail down there when you pull it straight out pretty long so that's your carrier spring and then all we have left is to pull the bolt carrier with the piston on it this is a new rifle so it's absolutely broken in yet it's kind of hard to get out the first time if you're having that problem I found that if you lift up on your charging handle pretty little I'm coming a lot easier than lifting it straight up we'll pull that out here that's our bolt carrier with our piston right here here together if you flip this over this is your bolt here and take that out all you do is push it to the back and turn it just like this you'll see this comeback and this little recess here and you'll just turn it and it'll rotate and then you pull straight out so maybe I did carrier and now you have your bolt very dirty bolt okay and now we will take off our gas tube and do that just like the SDS all you have to do is lift this this guy right here and this on mine this little lever here is really really really tight so tell your got yours broken in this might be a bit of a problem for you just going to lift that up as best you can there's a little hole there get that written that rests in a man that's what airtight now go up I guess it mines really stiff this is a new rifle so and some oil in there might help a little bit if you lift this up and let me get a good shot for you this area right here just like the just like the SKS and the ak-47 there's that flat part and when this reaches vertical here you should be able to just lift your gas valve right back up there we go just like that and how this differs from the SKS is that you don't have a piston in your gas valve there yes - excuse me because that is attached to your bolt carrier now that we have our gas tube off all right and now we're to remove the muzzle brake muzzle brake came on my a K from my wife and works you'll see this little spring here just got it right there I got to do is push this guy in like grab hold of it there we go push it in and turn counterclockwise this is a just threaded on there you can do with your finger if you can they go it's like that just on the screws and there's much like muzzle break excuse me and now you can remove your cleaning tube if you put your hand here and push in just a little bit you'll see that the rod bends a little bit and I'll pull out over here and there's your cleaning tube or cleaning rod with that that's the mechanical takedown of the rifle to remove the stock you've got three different portions you have to remove one of them is here on your gas tube and this is pretty simple a lot easier and on these models all you do is grab hold and twist it and then it'll pop right out just like that these indents in the in the wood on both sides of your handguard just fit right in here lets you move your hand guard off of your gas tube if you'd like to replace it and take your fore end off if you look up here you're going to see this light this little black lever here it's actually a little switch there and this is like I say my rifle is pretty new so it's still pretty stiff you might need to use a screwdriver all you do is lift this guy up just like that and pull all the way forward you know you'll feel your stock move right away because there's these little Springs on the backside once you have that lever pulled all the way down to the front this cap here will actually move forward just like that it just rests on that little cut in right here and that little switch here is what locks it in place so with that mode forward your foreign will just come right off and then last but not least your buttstock remove your buttstock you have two screws let's get right here in here this guy was hit by our desk cover and then that one you can see just as the rifle is assembled all I had to do is remove both screws and the buttstock will come straight out this way I will show the stock taken out but I'm not going to bore you guys with trying to get it out because these are pressed and they're pretty hard you're just gonna have to wiggle it if you have some punches or soft like a rubber hammer or something help get it out without marring the surface you can access it from in here these are pretty pretty tight in there so we'll skip forward to getting that out and you get a better view of it once it's removed all right guys that's the ak-74 complete take it apart it's the other parts they're exploded view and then over here on the buttstock like I said that just comes straight out you can see that the rub marks from they press that into the receiver I just didn't put that on camera cuz it took quite a bit to get that out it just comes straight out but it's at least on our new rifle it's wedged in there pretty good so just uh you can apply pressure coming inwards with a rubber mallet or you can just pull and wiggle it out like this but they will take a little bit to get out at least on the new rifles so with that the guns taken apart and we're going to put it back together now all right guys to start a reassembly we're going to start by putting the furniture back on our rifle starting with the gas tube here like I said I'm going to do is line these it cuts up and just it till you got flush on both sides like that and then for your for art for end all you're gonna do is slide this back in solar you here will go into your receiver up against these Springs and then this guy you're just going to push him right back down with that lever still forward until it snaps and then pull this lever down like I said that could be pretty tight it's going to get tighter the more you go so you might need a screwdriver or something to help put some pressure on that which I'm gonna do here a little screwdriver there we are so I get for unlock to place and then finally we're going to put our buttstock back on I'm just going to show you briefly how it goes in I said he just slides right back in and see where the recess is here for this part here you just slide it in and take some take some double grease to get back in it's almost almost in but that's just I didn't show you guys how to take it out because how big of a council it was to get it out but I just want to show you basically what it is just take it out it's just the exact opposite it just slides right back in there all right cutter but stuck on something I didn't want to mention that I forgot to mention when we were taking it apart was those two screws up top they are different the front screw it's got a flat bottom on it and the rear ones got a point so just note those differences when you're putting that back together they go and really easy it's just you want to get those confused okay so now we're stuck all our furniture is back on the gun we're going to start off by putting our cleaning tube or cleaning - yeah it's the cleaning rodham sorry right back in that's going to feed through these holes here now you let it go like such and then we can take our muzzle brake put that right back on you're going to want to tighten that all the way and a latch and then it's good locked and can't come on done alright next step is to take your gas tube put that back on a rifle with that lever flipped up so that this is flush actually have a good shot here this is what you're trying to get flusher you guys it's just this little piece of metal it's it's got a round piece with a flat part built into it so this is all flat you want that flush put your gas tube on and off so see how we've got that flush just take this end of your gas tube slide it on the end everything lined up and it'll snap right back in place and the lock that I like I do is bring this lever down like I said this is pretty tight like your screwdriver to lift it up every time you go get this part of your part of your rifle here see if I can't just alright guys before I pull this down as want to get a good close up that little divot right there just this little hole that's where you want to stop it'll slide right in so when you go to finish this you'll pull it right in it'll snap there we go now it's in place I just want to get a close-up on that all right now we're going to be putting our bolt carrier wheeler piston and our move back into the gun this is your bolt here going to make a quick note that you can see our firing pin moves back and forth here that's normal you always want to make sure that it can move back and forth you don't want protruding outward otherwise you'll have slamfire issue and your extractor here they're both held in with my pins and I will be doing a disassembly on this in a later video but for the purpose of this video we're just going to be putting this back into our bolt carrier and assembling the gun goes right back in through here just like we had before you just rotate it and there you go back in place I'm going to put this back in the gun just got to match up these little slots here that are mailed in start off by putting your piston down there slides and just like that and pulls forward and you take your bolt carrier or not your bolt carrier your carrier spring sorry and it slides in right in the back goes all the way forward and then with your thumb depressed on the nodal grooves that are cut in here you just pull it forward and then down into those slots right there and finally all we have left to do is to put our disk cover back on and then one thing to note when you're putting your desk cover back on is that they'll be these little lips here it'll be a little recess in there right you want to make sure that the edge of your dovetail or dovetail your dust cover I'm sorry goes right in those grooves when you go to put it back on like that we just want to push forward bring it down it'll snap in place and now your dust cover is locked and your gun is put back together we'll do a quick little function test works pretty good and they seems to be working fine so there we are all right guys that was our disassembly video of our often works ak-74 there was one thing I want to note before we go when I was talking about replacing your furniture for your 8k you can also replace your grip there's just a screw that feeds up to the bottom forgot to mention that the video just want to make note of that so with that writer closed out and I want to thank you guys for watching another episode of the gunroom stay
