VRChat SDK Unity 2022 Update - How To Migrate!

[Music] how's it going everyone it's been a while but it's about that time to upgrade your Unity projects again this time we're jumping from 2019 all the way to Unity 2022 the VR chat client has already been upgraded to Unity 2022 for quite some time now but now the SDK is ready for an update as well so let's just get right into it as always you're going to want to back up your project first do not skip this step upgrading is a comp Lex background process and always has the possibility to fail if you're using the Creator companion you can simply select the three dot menu to the right of your project and select create backup you can find this backup at the installation directory of the Creator companion alternatively you can just copy the project folder or make use of source Control software like git or plastic now you're ready to upgrade first I'll show you how to upgrade through the VR chat Creator companion if if you'd prefer to upgrade through Unity Hub I'll show you how to do that as well first ensure that your creator companion is fully up to date if you're not prompts to upgrade your Unity version won't show up once you're updated you'll see a column in your projects labeled Unity with a version number for each of your projects click on the one for the project you want to upgrade select 202236 F1 and then proceed to install the VCC will now proceed to install the correct version of unity 2022 this may take some time so why not join us in our Discord and chat with us while you wait once it's done installing click continue and migrate your project to the new Unity version you'll be prompted to back up your project assuming you've backed up your project already select migrate in place your project will now begin to migrate you may get some popups during the migration process feel free to hit continue on these give it some time and eventually your project will open up in unity 2022 [Music] if you'd rather just use Unity Hub here's what you got to do go to the description of this video and click on the link next to install Unity 2022 this will prompt your browser to open up Unity Hub and install the correct version of unity which is 202236 be sure to select Android build support if you create Quest content and hit continue agree to the terms and conditions and select install Unity 202236 will begin installing once it's done in your projects list find your project and under editor version change the unity version to 202236 then simply open your project and it will begin migrating to the new Unity version be sure to update the VR chat SDK afterwards either through the Creator companion or through the download section of the VR chat website once your project is open be sure to check the console for any errors if you have any it's it's likely coming from an external script or package that hasn't been updated for Unity 2022 yet in my case I had an issue with pumpkin's Avatar tools simply remove or update the package in your project and you'll be all [Music] set if something went wrong or you need some help with the upgrade feel free to join our Discord and create a help post we have many friendly helpers who will be happy to assist you that's all for now thanks for for [Music] watching
