family on behalf of myself my family and the clear mount apostolic arc i am thankful to god for the life of our power departed sister missionary sonia king i'll never forget the time when she came to brownstone visiting the sunday and bishop johnson was preaching and was led to ask her to read for him matthew 28 19. and it was their first visit there and reading the scripture and the lord touch her heart and she was convicted she have seen the revelation of being buried in jesus name i never forget it and that son that she was baptized in jesus name she has continued to walk with the lord and in our presence we can say god blessed her life blessed her journey we saw her grow and grow in the ministry we missed her and her heart desire and prayer for the family is that they will look to the lord now the scripture that said that read it said it didn't stop us from grieving our mourning but it gives us the assurance that we do not do it as others for we that have this hope we know that there will be are coming back we know that there's been resurrection we know that the lord is coming back and thank god the persuasion that is made for them that are in christ the dead in christ shall rise first the bible said they will not prevent us it is important for us to maintain our walk with the lord our prayers are with the daughters and grandchildren we we we want to say thank god he has hold missionary kim that she could be a light she could be a missionary she could be an exemplar and we will mister on this side of life our mem our memory will remain with her with us but thank god thank god thank god we have the hope that on the resurrected morning we will meet her on the other side may the lord bless the family that they will keep their eyes on jesus and the sun closing said blessed savior that will guide us till we reach the heavenly shore where the angels will join us in thy praise forevermore god bless us god be with us in the mighty name of jesus in jesus name god bless you bishop praise god bishop lyndon johnson praise the lord everybody praise the lord everybody i must quickly apologize on behalf of apostle dr g w johnson he's unable to be on tonight i bring you greetings on his behalf i would like to read bishop clark the moderator all the other ministers i think i'm seeing pastor simmons and some other ministers from faith temple and all the other ministers that i'm i might be unable to identify tonight um this evening on this platform i'd like to greet you in the awesome and the powerful name of jesus tonight um it's another very sad moment in the life of um the apostolic arc um this organization we have been challenged in recent weeks with many deaths and um some all of them we can say was very surprising but especially when we heard about missionary dr king we were literally shocked um but tonight i would just like to say very very short in um briefly the sovereignty of the god of scriptures is absolute i say it again irresistible finite when we say that god is sovereign we affirm his right to govern the universe which he had made for his own glory just as he pleases we affirm that his right is the right of the potter over the clay that he may mold that clay into whatever form he chooses fashioning out the same out of the same lumps one vessel onto honor and another onto this honor we affirm that he's under no rule or law outside his own will and nature that god is a law unto himself and that he's on the no we give an account of his matter to any um we are challenged but we still believe in the sovereignty of god and whatever god does we know that he does all things well and as bishop clark has stated i remember clearly missionary dr king coming to be a part of us our immediate family i remember pastor miles i think met her in college or university when she went to do an upgrade and the first time she entered the doors of our home she was just a wonderful sweet and genuine lady and i remember on many occasions come communicating with her her warmth was just literally contagious and for me i i don't speak things that i don't mean i prefer not to say it and sister king i remember clearly as bishop clark stated this sunday when she entered the sanctuary um apostle axe sir bishop johnson then asked her to read the scripture and after reading the scripture she was so impacted that she took the decision to take on the name of jesus sister king was a very genuine sincere child of god we saw her grew among us and with us until she was ordained a missionary in the apostolic arc she left for a while migrated and then she came back and she was living in saint mary and while being there every chance she got she was in the house of god she was in my sunday school class a class that we shared together and i remember whenever missionary king sheared it was always very very impacting she engaged our minds and one thing i love about her is her humility i would say that she was a consummate intellectual um if you don't know her in another space you would not understand how intellectual she is she was a very bright individual but she was not one of them that tried to show it it didn't precede her you had to engage her before you could understand how she was and as she took her social vacation she seriously she took her calling that god gave her very serious and this evening on behalf of apostle and presiding bishop all the bishops of the apostolic are pentecostal churches of jamaica and overseas we will definitely miss sister king as we affectionately call her along with the general sector of this organization we say condolences to the family renee and russia and the in-laws the her grandchildren and her mother who's still alive and all of her relatives and very close friend we convey our sympathies our deepest condolences and whenever i say that as well i have to um include the church family because whenever one leaves from among us and transition from among us we indeed feel it and i have been saying in recent days that whenever we're in this time or this season whenever you have to cry just cry i'm saying to individuals now tears are not not a weakness when you cry it's not a sign of weakness it's a show of your emotions this your soul an expression of your soul and it is i would say it is therapeutic it helps to heal the soul and just as jesus who was 100 man and he was 100 god as he went by the tomb of lazarus who was a very very close friend jesus was moved with all that he saw around him and he was touched in the seat of his emotions his soul and jesus wept but one thing i am saying to us tonight that when we when we cry we are not crying as those that have no hope but we are crying with those who have hope as we're in the center today we were inspired with the word hope in difficult times hallelujah um if elder isaacs looks at looked at ezekiel apostle looked at david and he pointed out yea though i walk through the valley of the shadow of debt he said i will fear he spoke in absolute terms i will fear no evil for thou art hallelujah thou art with me he had absolute confidence that god was with him and he went further david when he was again challenged david said why art thou cast down o my soul and why are thou disquieted within me hope thou in god and he said in spite of what is happening around me i will yet praise god and tonight although we are crying although we are weeping we are still saying god is still an awesome god and he still all that he said he is i'm saying tonight jesus still doeth all things well for i know what here before me hallelujah jesus do it all things well again to russia and renee speaking to you i understand and i know it must be painful none of us expected this at this time but god will see you true and again i'm saying tears are a language that god understands god bless you again on behalf of apostle and presiding bishop i say to you we'll be praying for you and god will take care of you god bless you god bless you god bless you god bless you bishop god bless you bishop lyndon johnson very good very good one strong words coming to us from bishop johnson um one of the things that we will all remember in brownstone is the first day that our own dear sister king came into our church in brownstown and i think it was one of those sundays that is simply unforgettable we all remember exactly what took place and so many persons have spoken about that and will continue to talk about that but there's something specific i want to mention about um sister king and some of us may know her as miss king from school and some and we know her as sister king someone know has dr king but one of the things you can't help but recognizing about her was that she was a disciplinarian she was a serious disciplinarian and she was always about business a no-nonsense person and it's very difficult for you to find someone who's a disciplinarian a no-nonsense person who young people gravitated towards so easily she was someone who would engage young people and the young people of the church benefited from her and as i go along the program and as elder um williams as we go on the program we're going to be telling you some things that you may not know about our own sister dear or dear sister king but i'll just mention one thing and some of us will know this but her her two daughters rachelle and renee to show you how much of a disciplinarian she is we remember very well that these two young ladies were never late for church they were never late for church and for those who of you who didn't know that this is something that sister king instilled in them they were always on time and you'll hear a lot more about some of the things that she did as she walked with us over here in brownstown all over the world we're going to be having greetings now from past the sampleton from calvary tabernacle united pentecostal church in england and past disciples only be followed by pastor simmons from faith temple pentecostal assemblies we'll come you'll come in that order past the septum is pass the sample time on if pastor sabaton is not on um i'm going to be asking pastor simmons from fifth temple pentecostal assemblies to go ahead greetings to apostle johnson his wife lady johnson all the ministers bereave the family members saints and well wishers in the name of our lord and savior jesus christ this is indeed a sad moment for us on earth however it is rejoicing on the other side because another pilgrim has reached home safely missionary king worshiped with us periodically when she visited her daughter rachel who is a member of our assembly i know her to be humble and pleasant and she demonstrated the qualities of a sober christian we at faith the temples are sent by her departure as a matter of fact i spoke with sister king two weeks before she went into hospital because she had a book she had some books that she asked me to purchase one of them and i told her to give it to her daughter who would take the book to me and the book is still in sister drummond's car we are sharing the grief of her twin daughters that's rachel and renee her mother her father grandchildren and the apostolic arc church family i must assure your sister drummond who belongs to our assembly that she has our shoulders to lean on whenever she needs them on behalf of the faith of temple pentecostal family in kingston i express condolences to the families biologically be assured that our prayers are with you and that god will give you the strength and comfort you need at this time evangelist wilson will now be coming with a song to comfort the hearts of the bereaved evangelist wilson bless the name of the lord come on bless the name of the lord praise the lord he's still worthy to be praised praise the lord as the name of the lord greetings to all the bishops to my past and all the other pastors everyone i greet you in the exalted name of jesus if i walk in the pathway of duty [Music] if i work till the close of the day i shall see the quaking in its beauty when i've gone the last mile of the way when i've gone the last mile of the way i will rest at the close of the day and i know there are joys that awaits me [Music] i proclaim the glad story if i see for his sheep gone astray [Music] i am sure he will show me glory [Music] when i've gone the last mile of the way when i've gone the last mine of the way i will rest at the close of the day and i know there are joys that always [Music] i just want to reassure the family that she has done her part on earth she has gone the last mile of the way and there is joy that is awaiting her be comforted with the words when she has gone the last mile of the way [Music] and i know there are joys that await [Music] [Applause] [Music] hallelujah we worship your lord you hallelujah hallelujah [Music] hallelujah thank you jesus thank you jesus thank you jesus hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah and i'm you know you know hallelujah i am certain of uh evangelist fullerton that that was one of her favorite song i remember um being at uh the virus service throughout the week she said king never missed midweek services uh and those these are some of the songs that she would sing when i've gone the last mile of the way uh if for christ i have earned nestles driven and i've tried all his will to obey to enhance the raptures of heaven when i've gone the last mile of the way we remember uh sister king and you know as you spoke evangelist fullerton i i i i there are some adjectives that come came at me about sister king dr king the missionary king uh miss king yeah we call her all all these names um because she was endearing she was someone whom um she was our friend she was you knew she was strict you knew she stood for uh she was a no-nonsense person but yet she embraced all of us and as a young man she embraced uh me and and showed love at all times she loved unconditionally she was a people person she was humble she was gentle and there are so many other adjectives you can we can remember so one of them simon's lisa simmons and evangelist sheridan wilson from the faith templar assemblies uh which again those sundays where we have full friendship in at faith temple on that boss would have been sister king she would have she don't miss a trip i mean all the trips she would have been on i don't remember don't uh maybe renee and and and rashel can tell us but i don't remember her being not a part of some of the trips of where the trips that we're going at that we have traveled a lot of places uh in the apostolic arc and so we we're gonna miss her we're gonna miss her for for that we're gonna having some we're gonna have the second lesson at this time and this will be done by janae jennings grand daughter and it will be taken from first corinthians chapter 15 verse 51 to 52. janae go ahead the second list was taken from first corinthians 15 51 to 52 behold i show you a mystery we shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye at the last trumpet for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall all be changed i've learned to trust in jesus i've learned to trust in god through it all through it all i've learned to depend upon his word through it all through it all i've learned to trust in jesus i've learned to trust in god through it all i've learned to depend upon his words oh thank you so much thank you so much uh little janae janning jennings and uh she's flanked by daddy and mommy uh as she uh pay tribute to grandma through it all and you know i i really enjoy the tribute on friday night uh was really really really touching um on friday night and uh we want to just continue to pray for not only the the the the the girls and then and the spouse but also the grandchildren uh janae and also jaden german and we can't even pray for them uh i know i'll tell you this she loved her grandchildren she loved her grandchildren and um yes so we're going to be having some tributes at this time and we're going to be asking pastor barbara miles uh who is a friend and also uh the pastor of the nab dale apostolic art and i i see a friend because uh our first uh encounter uh we remember those who reflect remember she came into the apostolic arc through the instrumentality of pastor barbara miles and her team and that we have missionary from the missionary department we have a missionary annette forman we'll be representing the missionary department of the apostle carpenter castle church dr king was one of our missionaries and also from uh canada we have uh missionary ada hayden who is on i'm seeing her and she's on so we'll go in that order so we have pastor barbara miles um missionary annette foreman and then missionary ada hayden in that order go ahead pastor miles praise the lord everyone praise the lord greetings to my pastor apostle g.w johnson bishop lyndon johnson bishop rankin clark elder del roy williams the g sec pastor simons and all the other pastors brethren family members and friends who are tuned in to this service this evening i give god thanks for salvation that's what makes all the difference praise the lord it was 33 years ago after gilbert when a team of us from the apostolic ark were enrolled into the monique college for upgrading in our profession that we met miss sonia king the day when she was a person who registered me and she told me when she saw me she commented to her co-partner that we have a fat one in the batch that was me and sister king told me that in her social stat studies class i would always be sitting at the front of the classes that's how i am and she said she would often hear me saying on the breath praise the lord thank you jesus and she said to herself this woman is always saying praise the lord and thank you jesus etc and from that she engaged me in discussion student and lecturer of course so i kept my corners safely until one night when a wrap was on my bedroom there was her coming into the room and goose pimp ran all over because for a lecture to become into a student's room it was infinite nevertheless that's where our story began she invited me to her flat and i wouldn't have gone easily eventually i went after much suffering did i do but sister king came with the team of us to the apostolic arc youth convention 1989 and that sunday as bishop clark explained and bishop johnson apostle out of the blue asked her by divine inspiration to read the lesson and that was the boulder what is a man profited if he should gain the whole world and lose his one soul and that's where the bullseye was that sunday she accepted baptism in jesus name and got the holy ghost and when we were coming home from college after the year was ended she said she wouldn't let us leave her so at her alma mater she applied for a job got the job at westwood came home to be home at the apostolic art in brownstown with us that's how it all began and today here we are grieving her departure her transition but she has left with us bounties of a legacy from day one we met her little twins i became their teacher twice time at brownstone primary school and yes she was a stickler for discipline and principle and that she shared with her children sister king demonstrated from day one a very humble attitude at money college when you go to the lecture room you hardly know student from teacher because she was not flaunting her position when you go up to the chapel for devotion in the mornings the first person to be in the chapel was the king sitting on the platform waiting for the devotion to get off its way and when the students come in should she was able to identify students by name calling out good morning barbara good morning such and such that kind of a getting down to be on the level with her students sister king encouraged me to go do a degree and i told her i wasn't interested but what did she do she went to university got the forms brought them to me filling them out she took them up this particular day to university she should have taken my birth paper we didn't do that she came back from university the same day collected my birth paper went back to university with it and came back from university 77 miles up from kingston that was the kind of person she was very caring she would do and go the extra mile just to help and i could go on with a long story but i'll stop it out there and come to present time when she was writing the book she said to me barbara can you do the editorial i said i don't think i can she said yes you can i wrote in yours you're going to write in mine and when i did that portion of it she was walking with two phds under her collar and would not have it be written on the book i said but why she said i don't want it to be there barbara that's the level of humility she loves the lord when you read the book and hear what her colleagues in england students and her friends and colleagues have to say about her she left us for 15 years and walk with god they testified when you read it you get goose pimples when they what they say about her standing up for what she believed for the god that she trusted she she gradually learned the apostolic principles asked to be shown us to be taught ask for explanations so that she could walk in the right path a woman of humility a woman of dignity a woman of principle a woman of discipline and today we are so sad and sorry that she is gone because it's still a dream rachel and renee it is still a dream we communicate every day but it is still a dream but guess what god knows what's best for her although we cannot see [Music] god has been good to sonia so we won't complain the lord has taken her from us for his own reason and we are sure that there awaits her a reward for that which she has done on friday evening we listened to her past students and her colleagues they spoke highly of her integrity of her godliness of her humility of her loving and caring rasha and renee pull a page for mommy's book you would do her memory great joy if you pull a page from her book and emulate her principles that she has taught you we are going to miss her she never missed one convention for the 15 years she was in england every year she made sure there was a plane ticket to take her to jamaica so that she could be sitting on her seat on the restaurant a part of the delegates for convention it's amazing that in such a short time she transitioned the relationships sony and i shared i can't talk all of it here but i'm just saying god bless her god bless her memory god bless you rochelle god bless you renee god bless you jaden god bless you janae your mommy your daddy all of them god bless you all she was a precious gift to us she shared her i when i was going to write the book on bishop's ministry i just say this and then finish and i called her because i knew she was a stickler for writing a language person uh all of that i called her in english i said sonia how do you start writing she said you want to write barbara i said yes she said just put your pen and paper and start writing just start writing and it mesmerized me because i couldn't understand how she could say it like that but i listened and did just that started writing and my brain turned like a computer like a machine sonya said just put your pen on paper and start writing and the result after six months a book was produced on the ministry of apostle dr g w johnson because a friend encouraged me put your pen on paper and start writing she was a motivator it's going to take all evenings so the lord bless you rashel and renee bless you mommy grandma bless all of you sonia is resting she slipped away she transitioned for a better way for a better life waiting for eternal life and glory where we all shall meet glory to god hallelujah when we shall be in the marriage supper of the lamb no more sorrow no sickness no heartaches no pain we will meet to part no more thank you hello williams thank you evangelists kevin thanks renee thanks rachel god bless you all we will miss her but she's resting god bless you praise the lord praise the lord indeed i i told you she was a friend they were friends and we knew that over the many many many years so uh you recognized she could not stop because there are so many memories precious memories uh pastor miles code article this evening but um she has really done a great job uh by the way uh pastor miles uh did uh express herself uh in in such ways but i'm gonna ask persons coming after that we do not exceed more than three minutes uh to give you a tribute we have quite a tiny number of persons um coming up and so we really want to ensure that we get through this uh memorial service as we pay and pay respect to such a phenomenal woman who is a missionary doctor king who was so we're going to have asking at this time uh as we as i said earlier on missionary anna foreman um she's going to be coming at this time representing the missionary department and uh following her will be missionary ada hayden and then right after that earlier on we had asked for pastor sampleton forgetting that he has recorded his uh tribute so we're going to be be taking that from calvary temple united pentecostal church in england so we take that in that order coming down missionary woman praise the lord everyone blessed be the name of the lord praise the lord remembrance for missionary sonia king from the missionaries department sister king as many would have called her was really a true missionary whom we have come to work to know work with loved and trust as she became a part of the apostolic art family we knew that he was passionate about her commitments committed dedicated and was easy to get along with as a functioning department in the church our role includes internal external community activities which sister king was fully a part of there was no task that she thought herself too high to perform she was quite the humble soul sister king was a short representative for the missionaries department in prayer meetings house visits church attendance and so on she was always counted on to be among those who were ready to give a testimony it was also true that at the end of her testimonies she would always speak in unknown tongues to her makeup oh what a joy it would be to hear and see her worship in the spirit sister king's mission took her to different parts of the world and we have heard of those who spoke about her life that she did preach and teach the apostolic message and doctrine wherever she went and yes even in her dress it was obvious we were more than delighted to have worked with this phenomenal woman we are happy we met and cheered not only socially but also in the work of the lord we continue to pray for her family left behind we continue to pray for the success of her legacy her book now published we know that our soul is resting with the lord as she died with a beautiful hope that one day we are going to meet her on the other side she now rests in peace and light perpetual shines in her from the missionary department and personally i'll say rashel renee you're in my corner my prayers are with you and the entire family may god bless you thank you thank you missionary foreman that we go right now to uh missionary aydah hayden praise the lord everyone praise the lord just want to greet a person all my friends over there my from pastor sabaton from calvary temple united pentecostal church in england uh i remember you know dr king sister sonia king sister king was a strong supporter of the apostolic and apostles ministry was a strong supporter we knew that she was always doing things to enhance the ministry and she's gonna be missed even when she was overseas um when she gets out here she's as if she was not away she got involved in what was happening we remember that so right now pastor sapleton from calvary temple united peninsula church in england at this time and membership [Laughter] she was a [Music] air god under the sponsorship of my late father pastor s.g sableton she said sang on the car and was a dedicated and diligent altar worker she also assisted in teaching sunday school and the devotional assembly sessions after going back to live in jamaica whenever she returned to uk sister king would visit calvary temple to fellowship with the church family her last extended visit coincide with calvary's 50th church anniversary celebration in february of 2019 sister king will be remembered with fondest with fought with fondness by many she was pleasant and kind and has left her godly life and left her godly life as a witness to us to be true and faithful to the lord as she was let us conjure to run the rays of patience looking onto jesus the author and the finisher of your faith that's hebrews 12 2 remember god is your help and strength be assured of all prayers may the peace of god rest abide and comfort you and this is coming from the sabbath and the pastor dave that's the pastor dave mark sappleton thank you evangelist fullerton god bless you god bless you elder williams this has been truly uh a service with a difference as far as recognizing someone who has touched the lives of so many and as mentioned was made of a remembrance we have on we had on friday for our dear sister king it was amazing the number of students that she touched from the westwood high school and we're talking about students from way back in the 90s and these students although so many years would have passed these are no big adults um who have gone different directions in their career paths living in different countries but they still remember the impact that this wonderful woman made on their lives while in school and this just speaks to the type of person that we're talking about when we talk about doctor sonia king at this time we're moving on with tributes and we're going to be having a tribute now from ivan williamson and ivan williams is a family member if yvonne will be followed by elizabeth mccloud a friend from the united kingdom so we'll you'll come in that order yvonne williamson and elizabeth good evening to everyone tribute to sonia martial dawn king september 17 2021 god is too wise to be mistaken god is too good to be unkind so when you don't see his plan when you can't trace his hands trust his heart the family of the late dr sonia king wishes to thank all who supported them during their bereavement your expression of love in the form of cards floral tributes personal visits expression of sympathy telephone calls whatsapp messages and your online attendance to the thanksgiving service today have strengthened and assisted them in dealing their heartfelt laws they interpret this as a show of the tremendous love and respect that you have for dr sonia king as we gather here on this virtual platform and reflect i think the overriding question on everybody's mind is why why was the burning flame of light extinguished in dr sonia king when she was so involved in the different facets of life i will attempt to answer this very profound question by making a statement and ask some questions that the prophet of old themselves asked for no one of us lives and equally no one of us dies for himself alone if we live we live for the lord and if we die we die for the lord whether therefore we live or die we belong to the lord that is the statement now the questions what directed the spirit of the lord or being his counselor i taught him which who took key counsel who instructed him and taught him knowledge and showed to him the way of understanding to put the question another way for what's known the mind of the lord or what's seen being is counselor the answer for my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my we say the lord for as heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts in other words his ways are past finding out i think that the apostle may have had these perplexing thoughts in his mind when he said everything happens for the good of them that love the lord the official duty is to give a tribute on behalf of the bronze family but i must declare my membership to this family thanks be to god for that day when nurse and teacher adopted me vonnie yvonne in their family the initial affiliation was to babysit rick and ainsworth however they ensured that i got a good education by sending me to evening classes at the then richmond secondary now saint mary's technical high school sonia is a very brilliant witty student of the westwood high school she although she was so brilliant she chose to attend the same college as myself so that we were not separated from each other as sisters we would go home on different weekends and when she went home teacher and nurse would send provision and money for me with her and vice versa when she goes i would get the provision when i go she would get her mother and her father they ensured an excellent education force dr sonia king she was like a big sister to me at college ensuring that i understood what was taught in classes and that i completed my assignments on time sonia was always a caring sharing person so let us continue to focus on the joy and love she brought to the family her kind and loving disposition endeared many of us to her many of us will miss the benevolence of our dear daughter sister mother grandmother aunt niece cousin mother-in-law and unforgettable friend if you are sonya's friend you knew you knew you had a true friend she would not play an appropriate she was going to be honest if you are wrong in a matter she's going to tell you so her thinking was that if she cannot tell a friend the truth about him or herself then that was not a friendship worth keeping sony was always a positive influence she provided that relatable example for her siblings and when her twin daughters renee and rachel came there she was again having charted an academic career that they readily emulated however dawn did not just provide an example to her daughters but also they were with her or with all even if it meant pulling up roots to work in the motherland as she chronicled in her book life in a freezer a woman on a mission to london and i think her daughters still find her academic or find her academic persons a very a hard act to follow but one to which they can aspire she was always zealous of the lord's work she was rarely absent from church she was respectable and well respected she had interest in her family and people she was a blessed and bold woman and noble character she was an advisor to every problem woman of god always on a mission an example to the young middle-aged old and just about anyone ambitious amicable neat nice and nifty devoted and dedicated reaching out to people far and near willing to go miles to further the work of the kingdom sonia strongly believed in taking it spiritual food she was an ardent reader of her bible and her and ever pursued and even sorry pursued technological theological sorry training surely she was blessed she was very observant and always seek out the welfare of many she was she has left us volumes of rich experiences which we will always cherish by the examples she said we respected her very highly she showed us by her own life what a christian should be she had excellent scriptural qualities these include love purity and holiness justice and temperance humility and patience devoted prayerful studious and meditative she was zealous and constant she was very punctual relatives brethren and friends i am sure as each of these qualities are mentioned you all can recall examples when these were shown or demonstrated let us cherish the memories of one who was a daughter a sister a mom a grandmother an aunt a niece a cousin or a dear friend because these are the treasures that no one or circumstances can take from us i know that the immediate family cherishes the time sonia spent with them especially on her return from england all she was keen in organizing family get together there was tremendous outpouring of love and true benevolence shown towards nurse and teacher or parents to our siblings and to our children's family the abiding consolation is that if we believe in the god of saunas soon as salvation and live a life that is pleasing to god we will be reunited with her roxanne reminded me that words were sonia's love language so i end with this poem remember me remember me with smiles not tears for all the joy through all the years recall the closeness that was ours a love as sweet as fragrant flowers don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain we will see each other once again i am at peace try to believe it was my time i had to leave but what of you i have from here i see your face i feel you near i follow you throughout the day you are not alone along the way and when god calls you you will be right by my side right here with me till then i will wait by heaven's door we will be united ever more sonia is gone on before us and we cherish our memories and i must say condolences to her parents to her brothers and sisters and her lovely daughters and grandchildren and sons-in-law i know that you are going to miss her but continue to cherish those lovely memories god bless you all thank you so very much bless you god bless you god bless you beautiful beautiful reflection beautiful remembrance from a friend a very close friend not just a friend but a sister [Music] [Music] do [Music] so [Music] excellent thank you very much for that remembrance thank you thank you very much for that remembrance it is not easy for parents to be burying children and in this case it cannot be easy for the parents of sister king to be to be doing this at this time to be a part of this although there are so many wonderful things that have been said let us remember her parents and condolences go out to her parents her brothers her sisters nieces nephews cousins aunts um and we have mentioned her daughters repeatedly and the extended family not only the church family but her immediate extended family we see condolences to you and may god strength keep you at this time and maybe the knowledge that she's in a bitter place keep you warm as you think about your dear loved one or dear loved one sister sonia king one song comes to mind when i think of sister king and all the tribes that that have gone forward there's a song that says for your glory i will do anything and we get the sense that for god's glory this woman of god would do anything not only in her spiritual life was in the life that she led outside of church as a student and as a teacher for the glory of others she would do anything at this time we're going to be having a tribute from elizabeth mccloud a friend from the united kingdom and that tribute will be followed by a selection by gawain wayne grey from phillip road please come in that order evander is fullerton that was the tribute from oh i'm sorry yeah um good night everyone or shall i say good morning it is um quarter to four in in in the uae where i am are you hearing me i hope loud and clear we are hearing you go ahead it will be quick it will be a synopsis of what um life with sonia was like um while i was living in the united kingdom and i see here people all the way from qatar i don't think you know that and um from the united kingdom but one thing i really want to say about sonia is um sonia came to the united kingdom and i will be very brief i hope she came straight into middle management in the harris academy at pekka no lots of us came we came as teachers but sonia this is i think testimony of her achievements and capabilities and she was an excellent excellent associated dean i remember some of her students they feared her but they loved her they feared her but they love her i heard one every time they heard her voice they said king and everybody would run and one student said to me recently i thank god for the detentions where misking poured into my soul and what a testimony that is i am i said i would be remiss if i didn't mention our depth of knowledge in our subject area and something that i am amazed by is sonia's penmanship absolutely fabulous the high standard she has we um sonia was so everything in our life was her mission to christ everything everything and um i remember we lived in the south and she her church the apostolic um pentecostal apostolic was way up north she would take three buses to go and it would take her an hour and a half but sonia said to me liz rain shine sleet snow the same dedication i have for my job i will have it for my lord and she went along so that is is what she did and she always said to me god honors those who honors um who honors him she also was known for her prayer life prayer and fasting now sonia did every every fast that we could think of when i say every fast every fast so she did danielle's fast she did 21 days fast and at the beginning of every year she did her 40 not one month 40 days fasting and so um sonia has left an indelible mark on our lives i speak on behalf of some of us like doxie i see her here and malcolm and her friends in like coleen and vivienne and tracy all of us who um actually um were her little community in in um in london also i want to say that every year sonia came down for convention every year and i remember her saying to me she stayed at sister dawn and sonia such a genuine person she would take her tithes i remember that she was going to calvary she went to saint michaels but her home was the apostolic art and she would take her thighs and and and leave them there um she doesn't do anything without consulting to god and i will finish quickly here but um sonia did lots with her dash in jesus name she encouraged she gave generously she would go to western union and send one month for this one one month for that one i don't know if you know these things about her but she was a woman of god and she lived her life to the fullest we went to many places all over the world and she told me she was coming back to jamaica to be with her mom and dad and her family renee rochelle and her grandchildren and sleep on sleep on dear sister i know god well he said well done good and faithful servant the lord giveth and the lord taketh away blessed be the name of the lord thank you very much blessings what a tribute what a beautiful tribute of someone who lived very close of someone who lived very close to or on their dr king or on their sister king extremely good tribute and and i love to hear the things that i do not know i did not know about our sister king at this time we're going to be having a selection going green philip road shall we bless the lord everyone a good evening good night wherever you are greet you all in the mighty name of jesus we can see the bishops the pastors families friends well-wishers i extend greetings to you in jesus name at this time i want to extend my sincere condolences to the family of missionary doctor sonia king who i myself admired from a distance you know i i i remember the first time i heard her voice one day when when i was dropping that i russell and her mother asked me to drop them somewhere and i remember when she spoke in the car for the first time i took note of it my heart skipped a beat because i said what's her voice so strong so unique so you know it was one to note and from then on she had my respect and the song that i was i'm going to be singing it's a dream for me now but for her i am sure it is the reality amen i dreamed of a city cause glory so bright and so fair when i enter the gates i cried holy the angels all met me there they carried me from mansion to manchester [Music] and all the sights i saw but i said i want to see jesus for he's the one who died for me i bowed on my knees and cried holy holy holy [Music] i clapped my hands and sang glory for glory to the son of god [Music] as i enter the gates of that city my loved ones are you beware they took me down the streets of heaven so seeds were too many to tell i saw abraham jacob and i'm back talk with mark and team matthew but i said i want to see jesus for he's the one who died for me for she bowed on her knees and cried holy holy holy she clapped her hands and sang glory for glory to the son of god [Music] she bounced on her knees and sang holy god is holy yes he's holy she flapped her hands and sang glory for glory to the [Music] glory to the son of god the lord giveth and the lord taketh away blessed be his holy name he's rejoicing with our master in heaven god bless you in jesus name god bless you god bless you god bless you brother gray holy to the lamb of god she had some favorite songs and one of these songs was i'm on the stairway to heaven tonight another wonderful song she had was what a beautiful thought i am thinking concerning the great speckled bird when these songs were done in church you would see sister king just get all under the anointing and she was in her own space and her own place and she would let go and just worship god one of the things that we can attest to in brownstone is that i'm not sure if we truly have heard the end of a testimony from dr king because when she gets close to what we would consider the end of her testimony she will always get into the anointing and she'll be totally taken over and you would not really hear the rest of the testimony in english but she was just talking to god and that is the person we remember her to be in church but as the person outside of church she spoke highly of westwood high school and at this time i want to turn him over to the westwood family and we're going to be having a selection of um persons from westwood um giving tributes right now it's going to be led off by miss carlene sigri jp pass student and mr you'd be followed by karen francis the principal of westwood high school um after the principal of westwood high school corinne francis we're going to be having judith johnson the class of 1975 and then we're going to be having a selection that just says here westwood old girls so at this time we're going to be having miss collins agree thank you moderator for the time moderators williams and fullerton daughters of the late dr soner king renee and rochelle and the immediate family members bishops and pastors on the platform has students of westwood high school members from the education fraternity the church fraternity friends all i greet you well i wish to preface this tribute with a poem by maya angelou when i think of death when i think of death and of late the idea has come with alignment frequency i seem at peace with the idea that a day will dawn when i no longer will be among those living in this valley of strange humors i can accept the idea of my own demise but i am unable to accept the death of anyone else i find it difficult to let a friend or relative go into that country of no return this belief becomes my close companion and anger follows in its wake i answer the heroic question death where is thy staying with it is here in my heart and mind and memories and that's where we have miss king tonight in our hearts in our minds and in our memories on behalf of the minister of education youth and information and representing the cohort of students spanning the period 1987 to 1992 7q to 11q i pay homage to the life and the service of a teacher extraordinaire doctor sonja king and to us then miss king dr king had some special qualities which distinguished and exemplified her as one with a lasting impact on the lives of many young girls who have now blossomed into women who are leaders in education christian ministry banking and finance hospitality and many other fields all over the world as a visionary dr king led by example hence higher education was a benchmark for her that led to her pursuing further academic credentials at the doctoral level following her migration to england in 2003 as a teacher she raised the standards of education making literary works come to life through books poetry stories and her own experiences an exemplary teacher of english language and literatures she not only executed and delivered lessons with great skill and alacrity but also maneuvered affiliated concepts of syntax semantics predicate and subject of agreement so that the various learning styles and needs of students were addressed ms king was not only a teacher of subject content but through emulation and exemplary conduct she taught us the way to be ladies exemplified by kindness empathy and love through the hidden curriculum she was armed with excellent interpersonal and communication skills but fostered a customer-centric approach but placed students at the epitome the center of her classroom and her lessons a teacher for the times she inspired confidence ambition love hard work and self-worth among girls who largely were from working-class families because she understood and could relate to their souls as an inspirer she demonstrated through both formal and informal situations the high premium students should place on themselves as they developed an awareness of their rights as well as demonstrated respect for the rights of others certainly the dynamic role she played while grace in the classrooms touching impacting and influencing lives reflected on parallel dynamism excellence determination and success dr king not only functioned effectively as a classroom teacher but nurtured many young girls with the skills she had developed in raising her own girls underscored with wisdom understanding love and grace she was a confidant to many students and adults alike she was impartial what was good for the goose was good for the gander she was non-judgmental never cast in doom and damnation on versus of different religious persuasions or inclinations she was adventurous there was always an avenue an opportunity to go out on a limb to have responsible fun she was courageous and confident flaunting her about to know the physique so that the young girls she nurtured would develop their own confidence and self-esteem regardless of their body types regardless of their skin tone regardless of their hair texture she was unapologetic about her christian principles so wherever she went in the world she practiced her christian faith singing songs of praise and devotional activities she walked in the fear of the lord as a teacher and as a woman he did not buckle on her standards as she lived her life only for the lord not only did ms king love god fiercely but his love shone through her which she extended to her students and friends so oftentimes a conversation with her would end with i love you miss king was a mentor providing a guide for many young persons as she explained the dynamics of life which helped those she impacted to forage through personal and professional challenges she was a disciplinarian but not harsh she stuck with her values and used the kindest of words and the lowest of tones to guide and direct the young women that she nurtured she was genuine maintained in contact with those whose paths she crossed over the years by integrating each person as a part of her family structure so when she prayed for her family she prayed for her friends she prayed for her students because after all we were a part of her family she was humble embodied by tremendous modesty as she didn't go around telling persons that she had even acquired her phd we heard ms mel's attest to that earlier this was only discovered by many upon receiving a copy of the book and you'd see dr sonja king here or at the back where miss males gave a review and put dr sonia king a teacher for excellence ms king treated students as individuals and respected the individual differences of each girl demonstrating that all those students were of a particular age cohort grade and class they had individual thoughts expressions and experiences which would form the foundation for how their lives would turn out ernest hemingway author and journalist said every man's life ends the same way it is unlimited the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguished one man from another miss king distinguished herself exemplary she raised the bar high for us to aspire as evidenced by the life she lived her death was suddenly frightening the education sector has been rocked by her passing despite not being in active teaching service for quite a while in jamaica her impact was far-reaching her impact was meaningful i am a product of her impact for many of us at the ministry of education and the girls who she nurtured particularly for those over the period 1990 to 1992 for whom she served as the forum teacher for three consecutive years we're still grappling trying to understand why this happened because for all we know she was someone so full of life she epitomized and living so as we grieve and mourn her untimely passing we acknowledge this dear respected teacher motivator mother daughter and friend we salute her for he her indomitable spirit you muted your muted arms yes somebody muted me the horse muted go ahead okay so we grieve and mourn her untimely passing we acknowledge this dear respected teacher mother daughter and friend and we salute her for her indomitable spirit that will be forever etched indelibly in our hearts and the memory of her legacy immortalized final hats off to dr sonia king ahead madame parent smith reflection on the life of dr sonja king former educator senior teacher guider colleague and friend of westwood high school pastor g w johnson pastor linda j johnson other members of the clergy moderators fullerton and johnson ladies and gentlemen good evening proverbs 31 verse 31 from the niv version of the bible states honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate it is with mixed emotions that we pay tribute to our dear sonia sonia king this evening affectionately called miss king we are truly honored and privileged as a school to have had miss king teaching sharing caring and touching the lives of so many students and staff members alike we are indeed saddened by the loss of a remarkable woman she lived her life to the fullest and touched so many people during her time here with us we all have special memories of dr sonja king memories that we will always hold there the footprints of miss king have been indelibly marked indelibly etched on the foundations of the westwood high school for girls without a doubt her tenure at westwood has helped to establish and foster the high standard of performance and discipline for which the school has been known head of the humanities department senior teacher teacher of english language and literature library skills and geography and also spanish to grade seven students advisor to the geography and the geography club sorry and girl guides she proudly wore her uniform every wednesday she was advisor to the prefect body uh these are some of the skills that sonia king offered to this institution over many years she was a jta rep and was very involved in the affairs of the school her approach to her duties demonstrated a high level of preparation that's actually admirable she was never late for work she had a good relay a good relationship with staff and was loved by the students she was like a mother to many students and would get in touch with their parents read their poor academic performance or their bad behavior she was a disciplinarian and always had the girls toy in the line when they were out of line she counseled them too she was kind offer shared with teachers and students little knicks knacks though miss king looked serious she was quite jovial as a colleague sonia was never one to bear malice or grudge she was keen on building positive relationships at the workplace even if it meant being unpopular or misunderstood sonia allowed her christian faith to impact others in a marked way her influence on the lives of both students and staff alike was deeply felt in her interactions at the workplace she had friends at all levels of staff and students with whom she shared amicably from time to time although she was an active believer she was never imposing but rather sought to impact others through mentoring as well as moral and material support sonia was a visionary who was always open to new opportunities for personal and professional growth this quest landed her overseas where she continued her mission as an educator she served as a school principal in england even then westwood continued to occupy a special place in her heart as she made a special effort to visit the school on several return trips to jamaica on these occasions sonia would walk with packages for individuals as well as departments within the school but miss king as we hailed her was more than anything else a fun person she she is remembered for planning and executing many field trips as well as vacation outings locally and overseas geography sba was always a priority but island hops and jta cruises also featured big on sonia's on sonia's annual to-do list please pardon me traveling was her idea of relaxation and letting the good times roll her departure was has left an indeli on an undeniable void in all lives that she has touched on her earthly surgeon but we continue to lean on our comforter jesus christ who has called her into eternal rest hats off to you dr king sleep on sonia on behalf of the westerd family and the old girls i would like to extend condolences to renee and rachelle her mother and father all death but while you have a breath carry on my sister carry on and so in the strife of the battle of life it's easy to fight when you're winning it's easy to slave and starve and be brave when the dawn of success is beginning but the woman can meet despair and defeat with a chair there's a man of god's choosing the woman who can fight in heaven's own height is a woman who can fight when she's losing carry on carry on things never were looming so black but show that you haven't a cowardly streak and though you are unlucky you never are weak carry on carry on brace up for another attack it's looking like hell but you never can tell carry on old woman carry on there are some who drift out in the desire in the deserts of doubt and some who in brutishness wallow there are others i know who in piety go because of a heaven to follow but to labor with vest and to give up your best for the sweetness and joy of the giving to help folks along with a hand and a song why there's a real sunshine of living carry on carry on fight the good fight and true believe in your mission greet life with a chair there's big work to do and that's why you are here so carry on carry on let the world be the close to sister king that is uh especially uh wendy angie nadine carol um and uh you know with richie jones and myself um really want to say condolences to the family the mother father uh all the relatives and the daughters of sister king from the williams family to your family at this time we're praying for your strength and we're really happy uh that we are able to participate in this reflection as we remember uh dr king and um we are going to be having at this time a tribute and this will be from uh cayman islands and we're gonna be asking at this time uh dr stephanie fullerton cooper to make that tribute at this time on mute please on mute you're not you're still muted my apologies for that are you hearing me now clear loud and clear wonderful thank you greetings to all of you my father's children greetings to my bishop and his wife in absentia all the ministers and various leaders on the platform and to the bereaved family my deepest condolences i am sending you my love and my condolences on behalf of my family and i in this difficult time we pray that god will continue to comfort and to bless you in the 17th century the romantic poet john dunn was considered one of the most respected preachers of the time and as he was sick and suffered on his deathbed he penned a poem the words of which say death be not proud though some have called thee so though some have called thee mighty and dread for thou art not so one shortly passed we wake eternally and death shall be no more death thou shalt die i remember when i first saw sister sonia king many persons have spoken about the time when she first graced us with her presence at our church in brownstown i remember although i was a child i do remember very clearly how she looked that day i remember her hairstyle i remember the color of the dress she was wearing and i remember when she took very painstaking and unhesitating steps to give her life to christ i believe i was asked a tribute to dr king today because i went to uwa with her some 30 years ago i remember that when she auntie barbara passed the miles and i went off to ue i was only 17 years old and i remember they both took me under their wings but that dr king was as was santa barbara attentive loving she was supportive they took the task of taking care of me very seriously it wasn't just i mean they took care of it wasn't just me it was also the members of ucam i don't know if we have any newcomers on here today but when i joined the tributes on friday there were a few persons here from ucam who were paying their respects so ucam university and college is apostolic ministry we were so young we would we didn't know where we were going and it was truly a blessing to have benefited from the advice of sister king and i want to then express condolences on their behalf as well she took my care so seriously i remember that she pastor miles and i decided we were going to do a an elective and it was going to be an introduction to computer science and i remember that there came time for a group work which was going to form a major part of our final grade and i did not want to be in a group with them because i knew what my grade would likely be because of course i was a much younger computer-savvy person than they but they would not let me out of their site so to speak and so we did the group work together and every time i look at my transcript i laugh because it's the only c on my transcript it was actually a c plus but the point i'm making here is that she would not they would not let me out of their sight they insisted that i work with them and i enjoyed the care that they showed me i really believe that sister king considered me one of her girls you know i've always admired the love and the attention she gave to her girls they were in in one expression of one of the you cameras there were many versions of her you know she was like their friend almost i believed that she thought of me as one of her girls because renee richelle and i have the distinction of sharing the same birth date october 24 and so she took me under her wings seriously as she would a daughter i remember how she contributed to my spiritual growth i remember a conversation she and i had once as she usually does she would see me and she asked how are you steph and i was hesitating in my response and she said how are you physically and spiritually then she said no no tell me about the spiritual because if that's not okay the rest won't be okay either and i remember she hit the nail on the head in just that statement i shared with her how i was spiritually the questions i had um the things i were i was mulling on and i remember a statement she made as she advised me something i passed on i have passed on to many people over the years she said to me god does not ask us to be worthy of his love because if he did which of us would stand i have never forgotten that i have never forgotten that for me sister king was a giant of a lady we knew she was physically robust i believe brother great was that spoke about her strong strident voice but she was a giant of a lady not just in her physical stature but in her character she was someone to be admired unequivocally smart intelligent we cannot deny that but she was loving she was playful she was always with a quick laugh she was generous and she had a zest a life and just a joyful living she was quick to advise and as we have all attested she loved the lord i want to end with the words of a son it says all the way my savior leads me what have i to ask beside can i doubt his tender mercy who through life has been my guide heavenly peace divinest comfort here by faith in him to dwell for i know what here before me jesus does all things well for i know what air befalls me jesus doeth all things well to the bereaved family please accept our love and our condolences god bless you she's in a better place sister king is all right god bless you all god bless you god bless you sister steph cooper fullerton cooper thank you so much wow such great memory and as i've been saying all evening precious memories how they linger and um but king praise the lord everyone praise the lord praise the lord i greet everyone in the wonderful name of jesus jesus said to her i am the resurrection and the life who believes in me will live even if he dies and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die john 11 verses 25 and 26 dr sonja king sister king was a friend a mentor and an educator extraordinaire but most of all she was a humble woman of god sister king will be remembered for her infectious smile her laughter and her personification of dignity and gracefulness hard-working and dedicated to her family and god she was truly a proverbs 31 28 to 31 woman her children rise up and bless her many daughters have done nobly but you excel them all charm is deceitful and beauty is vain but a woman who fears the lord she will be praised give her the product of her hands and let her works praise her in the gates approximately five months ago i had the honor and privilege of editing sister king's book life in the freezer a woman on a mission to london the book took me on a journey through her personal and professional lives this is a powerful must read book that will encourage strengthen uplift and guide a reader to new depths and heights in their walk with god sister king fought the good fight she has finished the race and she has kept the faith now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness which the lord the righteous judge will award to her on that day and not only to her but also to all who have longed for his appearance second timothy 4 verses 7 to 8 paraphrase sister king is resting in peace and light perpetual is shining upon her may god bless her children her grandchildren her parents her extended family and her church family god bless you all in jesus name amen amen and amen uh thank you dr gilzin for the those kind words and we're moving right along we're moving right along we're gonna be having the eulogy at this time and um this will be done it's pre-recorded so we're going to be asking it to be shared at this time any permission to share please um could you give um jeremy in access please thank you thank you precious in the sight of the lord is the death of his sins to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord this quote brings great consolation especially when your loved one dies suddenly and you are befuddled eulogy for sonia marcia aka dawn today we gather in the memory of our dear mother daughter sister teacher and friend sonia martial king so that together we can acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life was to us and the inexplicative pain that her passion brings in sharing today may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the joys affectionately called dawn is no coincidence she graced this earth on september 17 1957 at dawn the first of four children for amazing she grew up in content said mary with her grandmother with whom she shared a close bond she attended hampton primary and later matriculated to westwood high school where she completed her secondary education did you know she was a track star at westwood yes sir she retained the title of champion girl for years after completing high school she went on to study at the saint joseph's teachers college which later led to her commencing her teaching career at port maria primary she went on to expand her practice and sit mary high and saint hilda's high then off to jamaica college where she became the mother of twins rachel and renee on october 24 1983 she proceeded to complete her first degree and a few years later she went on to lecture at the money teachers college where she met some very special students miles veronica simons beverly bailey and millicent allen who became her lifelong friends barbara miles invited sauna to youth week at the apostolic art pentecostal church in brownstone saint anne in march 1989 that trip gave her life a whole 360 degrees turn bishop g w johnson pointed her out to read for him while he preached he asked her to read matthew 16 24-26 with emphasis on verse 26 for what is a man profited if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul the world didn't return void as she received the gift of the holy ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues to god view the glory brownstone soon became her new home relocated to saint anne later that same year with her twin daughters to begin teaching at the westwood high school for girls in stuart hall the learning where she spent 14 years while there she also taught evil classes at brownstone community college for a little while she was widely known as the teacher from johnson church who was always donning a little blackberry she decided to pursue further studies so in 1962 she went to the university of the west indies to complete her masters in library studies she loved the lord and served him wholeheartedly at the ark she was known for always being on time you would see her and her girls arriving at church and collecting the keys to open the doors of the sanctuary she was a member of the choir and served as a sunday school teacher and an ordained missionary she actively worked in the sanctuary whenever and wherever her services were required during the general convocation each year she would be seen selling the memorabilia for the she moved away with grace dignity and humility as she introduced the souvenirs to the saints they were never forced but were compelled to purchase based on her calm and confident mannerism which worked like a child in 2003 she made a massive change by moving to london england to help her to better honor her financial obligation to herself and her twin daughters this london journey began at the academy at peckham where she commenced as a part of the middle management team which spoke volumes to her capabilities and previous achievement it was there that she met her new lifelong friend elizabeth macleod while there she applied for meticulous and passionate teaching skills in england for 15 years to add to her many accolades she was deemed an outstanding teacher by the office of standards of education who fsted this spoke volumes to her capabilities and overall achievement undoubtedly she had to find a church to attend in england close enough to hers she left back home consequently she journeyed several miles to north london in cricklewood for church each sunday while she lived in the south such commitment for her no sacrifice was too great to make for the service of the lord eventually calvary temple upc was closer to home and she was able to be more involved there being a part of the choir and teaching sunday school to name a few sonia's tenure there saw a few things of schools but humble and impact everywhere she went her long-standing friendship with martia janice tasha richard and so many others there and worldwide with a testimony of her personality she totally believed in balance therefore holiday escapades in london other countries and here in jamaica were paramount she would say even god rested after creation so we too need to recharge and restore our sanity family staycations each summer were a must we had the task of deciding the location and contacting the relevant personnel these trips were always so refreshing and led to me the creation of awesome members convention at the apostolic arc in brownstown every year was also a must for the 15 years she lived in london she did not miss one convention every year her trip was booked to be here although it would be necessary for her to leave soon after her job obligations she would still move around selling conventional memorabilia as if she had not such left humble man of god a gentle giant she was a phenomenal woman her testimonies were often a series of hallelujah shows which were definitely anointed once all the call began she could be seen making her way down to un travail with the souls under the altar with persistence she waited for them to be born with the spirit of god in july 2018 while she was preparing to come home for summer or so we thought she said i'm coming home for good i have worked hard and i believe it is full time i come and spend some quality time with my family and take care of my parents august 2018 ended and she was still here so we then took her seriously few return trips to england followed a different enterprise but she was home we were delighted and so were her grandchildren these three ears were absolutely amazing and filled with the creation of wonderful memories the quality time was definitely spent random visits to her taking her out sibling day which she established celebration of birthdays anniversaries of her parents family trips and with her children son-in-law and grandchildren she was home most days taking care of her parents except those weekends she'd go to brownstown as there's nothing to her like going to church at the ark the other weekends found her actively involved in aleppo united pentecostal church a daughter church of the highgate united pentecostal church they stated how much of a blessing she had been to the church life in the freezer a woman on a mission to london was completed in april 2021 a personal goal now achieved her book was complete who could it be but jesus encompasses her personal experiences in london which is sure to provide inspiration and motivation despite everything sonya went through she managed to keep her priorities straight she kept the fit through all of her trials this is a wonderful legacy and an example for us all keep focused on what is truly important not only on when your life is easy but when it is difficult to to guide me to glory a god-fearing dedicated and devoted christian sona demonstrated a mentoring caring humble kind of loving attitude to all she was a no-nonsense person and a go-getter who seized every opportunity for progress for herself and others ensuring the well-being of others came naturally for her thus her final years found her meticulously caring for her parents daily on august 28 she complained of a headache that seemingly didn't want to go she was taken to the doctor on wednesday september 1 by dad but she was still having breathing issues on friday september 3 2021 she had to be taken to the hostages early in the morning by her dad and daughter rennie she spent two days on a chair there but we as her family still hoped for the best as it didn't seem that bad imagine no beds her children were by her side those days the night of day two she was moved to the isolation ward where she was unable to help visitors save for a fence where they could stand and peep in she was if she wasn't strong enough to walk off to the ground to converse with us on the night of sunday september 5 her children had what they now know as their final daily group call between her children and grandchildren on monday morning around 11 30 she sent them both a picture which was a final message to them that same evening they sensed something wrong as she was not responding to their messages or calls her mother and other close friends were also bravely concerned as they as she they too were getting replies on their messages the morning of september 7 phoned her children at the hospital very early because they had to hear what was happening with their mom to be able to report to grandma and the other friends checking in daily after many queries and waiting on the doctor to address us we finally came off the ward around 10 40 and gave the most news devastating news she passed a few minutes ago we were shattered sonia is surprised survived rather by her twin daughters grandson granddaughter son-in-law mother father brothers sisters in-laws sister as well nieces nephews and other relatives her church family and a host of friends we cannot lord thy purpose see but all is well that is done by thee she lived a christ-centered wholesome exemplary impact-filled mommy darling queenie dawn [Music] soon sonia continue to rest in eternal peace we love you yes god is good in all the earth from ocean deep sedan a phenomenal woman a wonderful legacy indeed daddy roy brown wow wow we are praying for continuous strength that eroy really praying for your continued strength now we see we should have got the strength from that strength that she possessed all her life now recognize that you and her mom were part of that legacy that she lived thank you so much for the tribute the eulogy that was just done let me just direct the family to the various tributes that are in the chat didn't get a chance to read them but there are many many tributes from persons as far as qatar and um i know you'll get a chance to go back because it's recorded and reflect on these tributes that were done and then to the persons who are on youtube who would have also left their tribute and tributes you can go back and you can uh view those tributes also from persons who knew sanya dr sanja king it's time for a word of comfort to the family and to do so it's ironic that dr king also served as a lecturer at the monique college that's where she met and as you as you were told by several persons including pastor miles how she impacted the students there and so i'm going to be asking at this time elder howard isaacs was also the principal of of the money college to offer words of comfort at this time elder isaacs praise the lord praise the lord everybody praise the lord is indeed despite all the challenges and everything that we are faced with right now it is indeed more than an honor for me to briefly share with you in this service of thanksgiving this evening as we celebrate the life of dr sonia king a lady who made such a significant difference in the lives of me as it is the norm will be going to the word before we do anything else and i want you if you can just spend the time with me what belongs as we look at two passages of scripture as we provide some support and some strength to rachel and renee and the extended family as we celebrate dr sonia king's life i'm going to go to a scripture that we had in church this morning which gave me significant inspiration and another one which the man servant also d.w johnson our pastor spoke to also as we deliberated on the word this morning so let me read quickly just a part of the scripture and the scriptures are ezekiel 37 verses 1 to 3 and psalms 42 reading all of psalms 42 and it says ezekiel 37 the hand of the lord was upon me and carried me out in the spirit of the lord and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of boats and caused me to pass by them round about and behold there were very many in the open valley and lo they were very dry and he said unto me son of man can these bones live and i answered o lord god thou knowest let me read that again and he said unto me son of man can these bones live and i answered o lord god thou knowest psalm 42 why art thou cast down o my soul and why are thou disquieted in hope thou in god for i shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance o my soul my my oh my god my soul is cast down within me therefore will i remember thee from the hand of jordan and of the hermanites from the hill of miser deep call it unto deep at the noise of thy water spots all thy waves and thy bullets are gone over yet the lord will command his loving kindness in the daytime and in the night his son shall be with me and my prayer unto the god of my life i will say unto god my rock why has thou forgotten me why do i mourning because of the oppression of the enemy as which are sword in my bones my enemies report while they say daily unto me where is thy god why are those pastor oh my soul and why are those disquieted within me hope oh thou in god for i shall yet praise him who is the health of my courtenance and my god let us pray father we give you thanks this evening for your mercy for your extended grace for your blessings for what you are to us as a people we celebrate the life of your servant this evening we heard the testimonies and we hear the many many tributes that your people have come together from different places different perspectives but they're all celebrating one life that made a difference they're all celebrating one life that lived to your glory and to your honor and therefore god as thy people seek comfort from you now we ask your god to speak to your people because you alone are god we give you a thanks lord in jesus name praise the lord everybody first of all i need to recognize all the persons who are in this room my pastor prophet jesus johnson's wife and all the ministers bishop johnson and all the other ministers that are here my colleagues from the ministry my regional director and also my colleague principals and other persons who are educators i recognize also pastor simmons and the other ministers and the other persons of repute everyone who is of repute everyone that is here all of us in god's eyes are blessed and blessed and favored and if i might rightly say we are also flavored because the goodness of god dwell it in us this evening we started a couple minutes before five and we listened intently to people of god from different dispositions different perspectives talking about one woman one woman sonia king a woman that had the experience of meeting this christ and i listened a couple persons who said that as she lived her life she lived her life in a particular way that she was able to bring others to christ and to to christ's glory simply because of how she did it and how she carried herself my first task then is to offer my condolences to the family to rachelle renee the other sons-in-law mother father and the entire team of us that are here this evening to celebrate sonia king's life i offer it not only because it's somebody that i didn't know personally i met her many many years ago i was in church that sunday when she came so i know about the experience and over the years she has continued to be a mentor a support and a strength for me in my own capacity as an educator i remember when i ran for the president of the jamaica teachers association she was not here in jamaica at the time but she sent her blessings and the quickest opportunity she saw me i remember she gave me a hug in that convocation i think she was also there when i was installed as a president of the jt because she was what we would call a jta guru somebody who believed in the association and believed in the rights of teachers and she supported the initiatives of the association this evening therefore we celebrate her life in a particular way i know her daughters and my parents and others of us in this room already have an experience with this christ that we are talking about but if you are wondering and if you are challenged in any way by what we have said i want you to recognize this evening my brothers and my sisters that one life made a difference one person made a difference and even though we are challenged by her debt and many of us may be wondering why this is so and why it was not otherwise i heard by bishop coming on earlier and spoke about the sovereignty of god in the context of it god gives lies and god takes it away the son man says we he is the potter and we are just the clay and even though we sometimes question what god does he does it in his time and he does it when he sees fit the example that we saw and the the tributes and the many persons who came in today all the way from the the far east people took the time out to stay up just to talk about sonia king and we will say to ourselves why this is so this is so because she lived an exemplary she lived a life that was outstanding to us as man can you imagine that her life was outstanding to us as man can you imagine how god sees her as she carried to her life because of her life others were brought to the ministry and right now we are giving glory to god because of her life coveted 19 has been a challenge for many persons it has changed the entire universe everybody now is wondering what next who is next and people right across the globe are challenged big economies have been affected small economies have been affected big man poor man rich man beggar man teeth everybody has been affected by this pandemic and right across the world people are wondering what's next in ezekiel the scripture that i shared with you earlier ezekiel was carried to a place of hopelessness he was carried to a place where it seems as if everything had gone wrong he was carried to a place and he was placed there by god and god showed him a valley of hopelessness the bible the bible tells us that there was a valley of dry bones everything had gone away from those boats everything that of worked there was no more fish there were no more signals everything was just dry it was desolate i don't know about you but i am sure that there shall not be a more desolate despondent destructive troubled times than what we are living in right now and people may be wondering what's next where am i going to go to i'm giving a word to somebody receiving that is in this room who needs to understand that in all of this there is going to be glory given to god i sat here for the from five from minutes to five until now and i listened to the furious testimonies people cannot come on a forum like this and speak like that unless there was something especially unique and special about sonia king and if there's something special about her we glorify god that she lived the life that was so upstanding and outstanding that we can celebrate her life but as we look around us now and we see all that is happening now we are wondering what to do so ezekiel was carried to this place and when he was carried here he was looking around and wandering tribunes and god the bible zika read it the bible says that he asked that axe in my question god looked at him the man of god and god said can these sky bones live hallelujah even though we are desolate and even though things seemed wrong rashel and renee and my brother jennings and we are wondering what god is going to do there is glory coming here today out of this experience can these dry bones live desolate things are awful can't be more dismal huh can't be more terrible can't be more awesome debt comes and when that comes people think it is sinal it is finished everything is given up now it doesn't make sense let us walk away let it come upon us and we want to go down but the bible says god says to him can these dry bones as i shared this morning when i was at church i looked at it and i put myself into pastor simmers and i asked myself the question what did ezekiel do ezekiel rather than using his own understanding rather than using his own intellect rather than using his own experience is on knowledge of god he looked back at god and he said god thou knowest he looked back at god and he said god thou knowest so today as you look my brothers and my sisters were in this room and wonder what is happening around us and you're thinking what is next there is dryness there's desolation there is destruction there is harm and danger and everybody seems to be giving up but ezekiel looking at the circumstance could have said i think sir god if we should be able to do this maybe something he didn't know that he didn't try to explain he did not try to rationalize he did not try to bring to anybody any clarity he looked back at god and say god thou knowest hallelujah so today and this evening as you are facing what we are facing we are looking to you god despite the desolation despite the despondency despite all that we are facing and we are saying god thou knowest david then in writing was wandering and looking at his own circumstance they will ask the question why aren't so cast out oh my soul why are those passed down and why are so disquieted in me but gave it again david again my brothers and my sisters david again put it back where it belongs if not in need is it it's not in me howard it's not in you russia it's not in uranium it's not in you deroy he goes back and he says oh thou in god for i shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance hope so in god in closing he says why are those cast stone again oh my soul sorry why are those cast on all my soul and why are those disquieted within you hope thou in god for i shall yet praise him with the health of my countenance and despite what we are facing and dealing with hear what david says who is the health of my countenance and my god so yes desolation death destruction everything is on us now and we want to back away and wonder but today we saw we heard the stories to be there on youtube forever and ever go back to it and listen to what people said about your mother rachel renee listen what they said about mommy and how she lived her life so even though there's destruction desolation ezekiel says god don't know it's tears it says ho thou in god today while we worship at church i heard sister talia raised this song i am not a singer i wish i could ask dr cooper when was a very good singer to sing for me but i won't ask her but i'll just read the words of the song as i close it says i'll make the darkness light before thee hallelujah renee what is wrong i'll make it right before thee are thy battles i will fight before thee and the high place is rational i'll bring down review listen what the refrain says chorus says when the workers dies away i god who your hope is in i god who you're going to turn to in destruction in desolation i god i will lead thee on the fatness of the land i'll feed thee and a mansion in the sky i'll redeed thee and the high priest is i will bring down listen what he says as i close we can everlasting love i love thee go with trials deep and sore my brother jennings i will prove it but there is nothing that can hurt a movie hallelujah hallelujah and the high priestess i will bring down today we celebrate sonia dr sonja king a woman of substance a woman a virtuous woman a woman's who life was lived to the glory of god but remember no as song one says when the worketh by the way i will lead you to all my brothers to all my father's children to everyone here this evening that has listened to this forum and have been part of this session we celebrate sonia's life but in the same time we look to god because no matter how desolate things are god knows no matter how things are terrible and off the record and everybody seems troubled our hope our strength our life is not in each other what is in god god bless you my brothers and my sisters my god bless you continue to praise god wherever you are today just magnify god just glorify god one woman live their life in peace god bless you in the name in the everlasting powerful name of jesus hallelujah god bless you god bless you god bless you hallelujah bless your name when the walkers by the way i will off the fatness of the land i will feed thee and a mansion in the sky i will deed thee and your high place i'll bring down when thou walkest by the way i will lead me and off the fatness of the land i will feed thee and a mansion in the sky i will deedly and your high place i'll bring down one more time when the walk is faith away i will lead thee and off the fatness of the land i will feed thee a mansion in the sky i will deed thee and your high place up bring down we give god thanks we give god praise we give god worship we magnify and worship the powerful name of the lord jesus christ when the walkest by the way family members hallelujah he will leave me of the fatness of the land he will continue to feed you and a mansion in the sky he has already deed you and your high place no matter what it is he will bring down we give god thanks we give god thanks we honor the name of the lord jesus christ as we
