Using PS5 Remote Play on Meta Quest 3

when I first got my meta Quest 3 I thought it was pretty weird that I couldn't play PlayStation 5 games straight out of the box with remote play so in this video we're going to talk about how I got my meta Quest 3 set up to be able to actually use the PlayStation Remote Play app to play PlayStation 5 games in VR the first thing we're going to do is pull up my computer and I'm going to type in get side quest which is the actual system will'll be able to download so go ahead and go and get it and then we are going to straight download the advance installer because this is the one that will allow you to upload APK files and everything like that so go ahead and download it for Windows Linux Mac whatever you need go ahead and click that download button and while that's downloading we're going to go and look up the PlayStation Remote app on the Google Play Store that way we can go ahead and get that APK so I'll go ahead and open that link up and I'll also open up the PlayStation app just by itself because we're going to need both of these cuz it makes your life a whole lot easier if you have both apps on your meta when you get to it and here is the Google Play Store as well as for the PlayStation app and the PS remote play apps so we're going to go ahead and get an APK downloader I use APK combo just cuz it was really pretty easy we're going to go ahead and copy that URL go over to AP K downloader paste it in and then click generate download link it'll take a few seconds here and then it'll show up down below and this is actually pretty easy you can go ahead and download it right here I've already got it downloaded so I'm not going to click it and you're got to do the same thing with the PlayStation store that way you can have both files for your system when you're ready to get it all hooked up and all that stuff you're going to do the same thing here go ahead and click the download button and get those all ready for the side quest once you have side quests up you're going to go ahead and plug in your headset here and then right away it's going to start detecting you might have to allow this since I've already allowed my computer it just automatically goes in but if you haven't allowed it you'll have to go into your headset and actually allow the connection between your headset and your computer once your computer and your headset are all synced up you can go ahead and click on the top right here there is install APK from file to your computer to The Meta so go ahead and click that and then search to wherever your apks were which I have two right here you're going to go ahead and click on them and then it's going to go ahead and install it and you as you can see on the bottom here it'll give you kind of an update though I do already have this installed so everything is good to go there so both install both apks and it'll make your life a lot easier but that's all we really need side quest for for this instance I'm going to talk about it more but let's go ahead and put on the headset and discuss kind of more about this thing now that I've got the headset on I'm going to go over here to the library and you can see there's a ton of little apps here already pre-installed but up at the top right if you click where it says all you go down to unknown sources then you can see some things that are side loaded because they're from an unknown source you can actually start up the side quest Remote Play or the PlayStation app well I kind of figured out the best way to do this through trial and air and that is to open up the PlayStation app and then log into the app itself here once you're done that you can actually just close out of it it doesn't really matter anymore but if you open it back up and start the remote play then the Remote Play app app should Auto log you in and as you can see here there's already a connection which will turn on my PlayStation 5 in a second but when I was trying to log into the PS remote app by itself it just wasn't working I kept getting an error with the server it would just time out and would never actually let me log in so I was having problems there but I read online that some people were able to log into the PlayStation app which then Auto logs you this so I'm going to go ahead and turn on my PlayStation 5 while we're talking here okay now that I have the controller Bluetooth to the headset you want to definitely make sure your Bluetooth to the headset because every time I tried to Bluetooth from the controller to the console and tried to use it with remote PL it would air out because it was thinking someone else was trying to use the console so make sure your controller is hooked up to the right thing and then you are better off this way anyways cuz you're connecting with the same lag as your headset if there is a lag to your PlayStation that way you're kind of able to do it I'm going to go ahead and back out let's make sure everything's good to go here go ahead and started up and it should just work seully if not I'll have to make sure we're in the same Wi-Fi and all that just to make sure everything works better now that I have the Wi-Fi all sorted you can tell that this looks a little clunky and with the original view you kind of can't make it wider or anything which is kind of a big pain but I was reading if you change the switch distance and you switch it to this mode you can actually drag it out make it more like a widescreen TV here let's make it ridiculous it'll actually resize the app you'll have to connect again which is not a big deal honestly then once it connects you've got this huge screen to play your PlayStation 5 with and as you can tell I'm set up here let's go ahead and go into Astros playroom a little bit and kind of just mess around with it and show off that yes you can actually side load the PlayStation 5 app and use the Remote Play and play your system with a meta Quest it's absolutely crazy to me okay so so now we have it all set up here we're just going to roll through play a little bit and have some fun because this game is absolutely ridiculous I'm just going to go over here let's use the map [Music] here I don't remember where I want to jump through I'm about to finish this so don't judge me but this was a ton of fun and definitely a game worth playing if you've got a PlayStation 5 you've got to definitely check this out obviously the network speeds are better if you're closer to the router I'm a little bit of far away so it does look a little clunky here but it definitely looks good if you do this the right way it's just so awesome to be able to play this got him ooh triple kill look at that I definitely need to use this in the same room as my router though cuz my PlayStation 5 is far away as well as I'm far away from it so both of these are not like the best as far as like internet connection which is okay got him is there anything hidden back here oh there is what's this this is so crazy this one is [Music] wild ah this is so insane especially on [Music] VR so awesome [Music] ah [Music] oh I got to go quick ah ah oh I made it it's absolutely insane that you can take a PlayStation 5 and play it on your meta Quest 3 now this is something I think should be out of the box or at least in the medaquest library but for some reason it isn't however it's definitely something I think that needs to be added you shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops just to play something that's pretty basic whenever you have Xbox cloud gaming which is pretty much the same thing uh as remote play for the PlayStation but a little different but I I guess it is what it is I understand that meta PlayStation they're different companies and they probably don't mix well but it's kind of annoying that I have to jump through these hoops but I'm glad that it works because it would kind of be a bummer if you couldn't do this I think it's really cool to sit down put the quest on your head and be able to look at the screen and a wide screen it's totally amazing and definitely worth it if you give this a try comment down below and let me know but I'm going to get out of here
