many people ask the question why should I come to your ministry or what what's faith all about and we looked at it understood that Jesus said in John 10:10 and the message Bible says I've come that you might have a better life we believe that we can use our faith and show people through our faith how they can live a better life then people be more equipped and more intentional about being a part of something that helps them to live a holistic and a better life the best of the best I love to make a difference let's hope hello friends I'm into a Smith and you're watching little broadcast I am so excited that you tuned in to our program on today it is my prayer that today's message will blessing to you as well as your entire family you know the thing of our church is live better we want help people live better every day that's simple God every way every day I believe that the church and faith can become more relevant if we teach people how to live better lives and so our whole scope of our ministry is to help people to simply live better it is my prayer that today's message will help you to also live better one thing that keeps us from living better is our inability at times to trust God today's message is a part of the little bit of series it's entitled trusting God when you don't have enough get your Bibles and be blessed by the Word of God and you're watching Living Hope with E to it Smith there is a passage in the Book of Psalms I want to lift it and I'm you give me 30 minutes imma be out of your way I won't lift this passage because I believe this story personifies what taya experienced and can help us as we deal with this month of trusting in God Psalm number 66 you keep your seats I'm gonna be reading from the message Bible this morning because I think there is a challenge to rest of us about trust psalm 66 and you have it see I've got it I'm gonna be reading from the message Bible beginning in verse 8 I want to get right into this and listen to the Word of God the message translation David says bless our God o peoples give him a thunderous welcome didn't he set us on the road to life didn't he keep us out of the ditch he trained us first passed us like silver through refining fires brought us into a hardscrabble country pushed us - our very limit pushed us to our very god pushed us die very limit I won't talk for a few moments thought trusting God when you don't have enough trust in God when you don't have enough what would you do educate it what would you do left your hometown and family friends and familiar surroundings head it to the ATL in search of jobs and more opportunity after all there's no other place like ATL upward mobility possibilities - Suns cultural exposure an opportunity to grow sure come through some bad relationships and some things that you thought would work didn't work the way you wanted them to and now here you are by yourself but hopeful still got life and now you've been given a job and put back the pieces - your life yes struggle single mom two kids no support at all really from family from their fathers but it's okay I got my mind I got jobs I got opportunities go and get yourself established only to discover after being established that the job that you just relocated to company shut down a pink slip now you have no employment no employment no support but yet somehow someway you've built yourself up to doing what you had to do just to make it work cuz after all nobody takes care of you but you you got to take responsibility then after a while you discover that your savings have started to be depleted still hopeful because your kids can't see you cry so you got to put a good smile on in front of them because as you go they go still hopeful still believing still coming to church on Sunday morning still hearing the preacher talk about trusting in God and God a make away yet while you're hearing on Sundays that God a make away on Mondays you having draw Peter to pay Paul still hopeful still believing because your credit card still have some room on them so if I need some ground beef if I need some turkey meat if I need some bread I just go to Kroger so go to Publix and you know I just charge for my daily supply because after all it's a blessing to have some credit and have some credit cards to be able to put something on to feed my family but slowly but surely making charges on the credit cards for David supply but not not enough income to pay the daily limit when the bill comes back and so after a while the interest rate compounds and you don't have no more availability on your cards and so you don't know how to make this work you saw what you could you pawned what you could still gotta keep a good smile on your face because nobody's gonna take care of your kids but you but now unemployment has run out savings it's gone no jobs are calling it's a recession in the land jobs are hard to find even though I'm educated wanna work and can articulate then all of a sudden I'm a derangement made of extensions paying this much just to keep the lights on and then I get that final word that my stuff is gonna be put out on tomorrow still believing still hopeful that somehow God's gonna show up at the last minute because after all he may not come when you want him but he's always on time I believe that I've convinced myself of that you've convinced yourself of that that God's gonna show up on time so even with the notice even with notification that you're gonna be evicted you still believe that God's gonna show up on time but what happens when you believe God's gonna show up on time and while you're believing God shows up on time here the sheriff comes and all of your stuff has been put outside sometimes in desperation and vulnerability people can do things that really take away from the quality of life and maybe do things that are displeasing to God but when we don't have enough is that doesn't those moments that faith can be increased and so when we don't have enough I think even those challenging times our faith has to get deeper we have to really rely on the God that has brought us to look back to see what God has done to reconnect to God to rely on God's soul in so you don't have enough if forces you live better because it puts you in a position of trust so now you go quickly because maybe this is God's will you go to the local u-haul place to get a u-haul I got to get my stuff I worked hard for this stuff I got to keep my stuff maybe God's gonna move me somewhere else able to pull off money together to get the truck you get back to where you used to live only to discover the stuff they put out side is no longer there everything is gone photographs toiletries everything you work hard for is now gone no place to live and now your sons are looking at you saying what's next so you want to get spiritual on them because even jesus said foxes have holes and birds have nests but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head that's easy to say if you by yourself Jesus didn't have two hungry boys and he was trying to raise no family no support child support not there nowhere to live no job no room on the credit cards and now a few days later the only thing that you own is tore up no automobile but you got two kids that you got to get to school trying to raise by yourself no car no way to live no job no furniture and there's nobody you and all the while you've heard that God will open up the windows of heaven and pour you out of room that you won't have a blessing that you won't have room enough to receive problem with that is you know God will open up his wonder what happens when you don't have no window where's God gonna pour it into what's God gonna do in my life and now you find yourself in a shelter for six months asleep with one eye open and when I close because after all you don't know the other others residents and you're afraid that in the middle of the night somebody might come to lay hands on one of your children or even touch you inappropriately well now I'm across town my kids school is hour and 45 minutes away if I'm in traffic so I got to get up at 4 o'clock to use the public shower to get my kids ready so I can get them to school and to have them hopeful to believe that education is still the way it's hard for me to convince them that education is their way out when I got education but we're in a shelter brothers sisters what do you do when you're in this situation but yet every Sunday morning and every Wednesday night you find yourself coming to 4650 flat shows part way to worshiping a god and read in the Bible about a god that you've seen provide for others but yet you know he's not providing for you I preface the message in that context to let you know what sister Tavia Lane has experienced a situation where you have nothing left but faith and all you got is debility to trust in God brothers sisters her story is eerily similar to the main character of our text his belief by many commentators that the right of our passage this morning is that fellow whose name was David David who was anointed by God to be the next king of Israel after Saul was dethroned after Saul was demoted David is from molded but yet it takes 17 years for him to operate in that promotion it written in previous about the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want but now he finds himself in want is interesting because as you read this Psalm is strange because he goes through a variety of emotions you would think really that he's almost a bipolar type of brother the writings are so abstract the language is so waiting and isolating and vacillating that he goes to a full range of emotions I mean she starts out with a great bit of bigger power listen to how he starts to Psalm in verse 1 according to the message Bible he says listen all together now everybody said together let's applause for God for God give him some applause he says sing songs to the tune of his glory set glory to the RISM rhythms of his praise say son say God we've never seen anything like him he starts with our exaltation he starts with adoration to god ii he starts with us challenging us to give a great big applause to god because there's nobody like him he Cammisa 'he's this song dealing with the glory of god he commences the psalm talking about how god is worthy how how praise should be the way we say things but yet he segues from talking about giving God praise and then he moves in verse number 8 to continue that theme he said in verse time I bless our God o peoples give him a thunderous welcome but then notice how he moves and now he seems to move from glory to grief and gloom because it seems some commentators suggest that he wrote this Psalm at different times that's why I seem to be so fragmented because it just says bless our God all peoples give him a thunders welcome and then he says this then he set us on the road to life did he keep us out of the ditch he says he put us on the road of life bust out of a ditch he trained us first asked us like silver through refining files brought us into a hardscrabble country then he said he pushed us not a miner to our very limit David said the same God that I just praised him for he is the one that's brought me to a place where really I don't have nothing left how do you praise God how do you keep trusting in God David and at the same time declare that the same God that you just commanded us to praise is the same God that brought you to a place and to a point in your life where you feel like you don't have any fame left friends don't change that dial we'll be right back after this you watch it live in hope I thought the Bible says no good gift will he withhold from us if we walk upright if we ask you to be given if we seek we find I thought that God is able to meet all of our needs I thought that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think I thought that God can give good gifts to his children if the letters got closed and if the birds got something to eat that won't God take care of us to me I had heart problems theologically seeing God as a result of a woman being a homeless with two kids and nobody to support them I had a problem with God and even with Tavia saying God did this do you ever feel like you're stuck in your current situation dr. Dewey helps us discover how the Word of God will teach us to live a better life time in our lives when you gotta meet God for yourself and you gotta meet God in a position of aloneness because you don't want you to depend on nobody else but him that's an expiration date from your troubles we're gonna spend eternity without God and so our light affliction Paul says you don't last for a moment but it's working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory some of you and no strikes trying to tell Jesus how hard the training he is like he don't know God will never let nothing come upon you that he didn't train you first be empowered and begin to live your best life better today this life-changing four-part series can be yours when you order from our website or call 877 894 hope sometimes the best fertilizer is not purchased from a Home Depot or some home store or some other place that allows you to have gardening tools sometimes the best fertilizing agency is simply the animals who come around allow don't replace in different places in other words sometimes mess can be a fertilizing agency and sometimes it's the messes of our lives that becomes a fertilizer that helps us to grow and so sometimes even inhale it gets rid of the impurities and it draws us closer to the God who's called us and it's given us a purpose so embrace even the struggles because if we never have problems we wouldn't know God has solved them so I'm grateful even in my trials in the fires and the storms because the mess can have a fertilizing efficacy you had a point in your life you have nothing else to give you're at a point in your life where you're so exhausted you can't say freeze you can't shed tears of joy because your tear ducts can't produce anymore tears you ever been on a point in your life but you at your very limit you've reached the edge you have nothing else to give you have no more love to give to your family you have no more money to loan to your brothers and sisters you have no more patience you have no more long-suffering as a matter of fact you've convinced yourself even in church that when I get to work on Monday that this lowdown supervisor she got one more time okay y'all not gonna help me preach right here one more time to come at me like that you're tired of biting your tongue you're tired of swelling you're swallowing your curse words you one more time you're gonna put your religion down and let them have it because although you are north and you love God you're at a point in your life where you don't have it yes to give normal patient no more time no more money no more strength no more energy and all the wild guess what it's not the devil who's behind diva said I'm here because God brought me here one of the things that that that that that that intrigued me when I talked to Octavia a few weeks ago in the energy they treat me a few moments ago when even she said uh that I'm where God wants me to be that that creates the theological quagmire for me what do you mean you are God won't you to be a cave are you sure homeless to boys no car no job no support shelter sleeping in our mobile sleeping on the church grounds in your car shaking your pastors hands and deacons hands and don't tell them what you're going through brushing your teeth in the Texaco bathroom putting a rag underneath the faucet to wash yourself sometimes to get ready to handle your responsibilities and you say God put you there I thought the Bible says no good gift will he withhold from us if we walk upright if we ask you to be given if we seek we find I thought that God is able to meet all of our needs I thought that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or thing I thought that God can give good gifts to his children if the litters got clothes and if the birds got something to eat that won't God take care of us to me I had heart problems theologically seeing God as a result of a woman being a homeless with two kids and nobody to support them I had a problem with God and even with Tavia saying God did this and then God said to me do it that's you out of your lane son you can't read at her testimony you you can't impose what she want the store to be you can't make her change her opinion from what she heard God say if she felt that's what God had her because God was doing something in her life then that's between her and her God you stay out of her business you struggle theologically because here is the reality there are times and all of our lives whether you want to admit it or not but God reserves the power to push you and put you in a place that's uncomfortable and you can blame the devil all you own God is saying I'm behind this there are some moments in our lives when yes the devil can do certain things but there are time in our lives when you gotta meet God for yourself and you gotta meet God in a position of aloneness because you don't want you to depend on nobody else but him and in order to grow your faith and your trust and I don't know who I'm talking to this morning I feel your whole day goes I feel you hold it goes but there's somebody else who's like Tavia you in the situation where you have been required by God to trust him and that you gotta trust him when you have nothing left again sometimes not having enough is a thing that brings us closer to God and so not having enough can sometimes be a blessing and so if you don't have enough don't become vulnerable don't try to take things into your own hands trust God get closer to God and watch God begin to resolve every age in your life as you trust and what with him you can trust in number one because he has trained us can somebody say he's trained us he's trained us look in verse number eight in psalm 66 the message Bible he says blessed our God o peoples give him a thunders welcome did he set us on the road to life he put us on the road to life didn't he keep us out of the ditch he kept us out of the ditch he put us on the road of life here's why he trained us first Tavia been homeless was not your training when you got enlisted in the army of God David the first thing he did for you when you said though he said David I'm sending you to Fort Stewart I'm sending you the fort guard Gordon I'm sending you to Parris Island because David you cannot be in my army without going through basic training in basic training you where we tell you to we're in basic training we cut off your hair the stuff that you like it doesn't matter what you think you look how we tell you they look David you get up when we tell you to get up David you eat what we provide for you in the mesh or in the mess hall David when we tell you to appear for Petey you show up for Petey David we come to tell you how your shoes how your boots should be shined how the bed should be made you don't have the right to articulate upon your own agenda David because you're in basic training David because in order for you to be utilized by me later on you can't go into the battle without first of all going through training David some stuff is going to happen in your life later on and I've already measured what's gonna happen in your life because David don't you get it twisted I've already written your script and the challenge for you David is a you're in chapter 2 of your novel but David says I'm writing the novel I'm in chapter 5 and I've already arranged providentially that in chapter 5 this is the struggle you're gonna take and so based on my initials my knowledge of what I know you're gonna face in chapter 5 I back up into chapter 2 and I've given you the necessary training that you're gonna utilize now you don't know what's in Chapter five David but I do so what I've done I let you hear the message I've let you hear the songs I put people in your life to drop things in your spirit based on my knowledge of what's gonna happen to you in the next chapter and what happens when you get to chapter 5 you gonna think you can't handle it but what you don't recognize is this I knew what was in chapter 5 and so I trained you y'all y'all got the brakes on me I guess I gotta preach this for me entail I trained you based on what I know you're gonna be able to handle well god I don't like the training well that's not so far you can't do then witness David understand this when you enroll in my army you come in as a private my friends I pray that the today's broadcast enabled and empowered you to live a better life God has a greater life for you Jesus came to have life and might have it more
