dear viewer beneath all the titles nicknames in the shiny metal suits fundamentally who is tony stark he's an engineer an engineer who built one of the most powerful weapons in the world in a cave with a box of scraps and what does an engineer do after inventing a near indestructible suit of armor capable of supersonic flight and equipped with state-of-the-art weapon systems he heads back into the garage and starts trying to make a better one today we're going to be going through tony stark's many many iron man armor models in search of the best of the best they'll be judged on power speed yet the oversized unwieldy mark 1 armor almost always finds its spot on any list of iron man's best suits why is that what makes this prototype a hunk of junk worthy of a spot alongside iron man sexy or premier fighting machines well no matter how you slice it without the mark 1 armor there would be no iron man this outdated elderly suit deserves a spot amongst its way cooler grandchildren for being the very first attempt tony ever made at building a suit of armor the mark 1 represents the first time tony cracked the code behind the iron man suit and would serve as the basis for all later after running into more than a little trouble while traversing the nine realms tony brought out his cold iron armor in a battle against malik at the accursed single-handedly facing off against malachite's horde of sadistic dark elves tony summons a titanic set of armor designs specifically for sustained combat with magic users the armor is encased with a thick layer of iron a material extremely harmful to beings of magic such as dark elves and highly resistant to magic itself think magical kryptonite the suit itself is almost entirely mechanical more focused on gears and bolts compared to iron man's more high-tech armors that we'll see later down the list the cold iron armor features a pure iron hook that can be launched both at and into combatants with devastatingly brutal effects as malikith's horde charges at tony he unleashes the full arsenal of the armor including aerosolized iron fillings that eat into the uncoming mob's flesh and eyes a high-powered laser targeting system and twang fang iron spears on the fist that serve both as weapons in hand to hand combat as well as a quick grounding device to protect against electrical attacks when malekith tony's first encounter with obadiah stain's iron monger suit would be while wearing the silver centurion for the first time and that first flight would be a legendary one though visually a little clunkier than his previous suits the silver centurion represented a huge power up for the armored avenger and would serve as the metric by which all future suits would be measured against the silver centurion's armor's most important improvement would be its dual sources propulsion system which would increase tony's flight speed exponentially on its very first run the armor would take tony from california to new york in only 20 minutes the silver centurion was equipped with both cooling and heating capabilities far beyond its predecessors allowing tony's flight paths to exit and re-enter earth's atmosphere with ease without risk of damage to the suit or the wearer other iron man suits flew like airplanes the silver centurion flew like a cruise missile the suit also debuted a new and improved stealth system that could hide iron man from any eyes on the ground as well as shield him from all radar scanners the armor also included detection scans that could alert iron man to danger about the most dangerous place on the planet face to face with the jade giant himself there are lots of slugfest between the hulkbuster and its intended target we could examine to ascertain the armor's strength and weaknesses though it's safe to say any suit of armor that can go toe-to-toe with the hulk automatically earns a spot on this list but instead we'll take a look at a fight from the the war machine armor that allows the ai to predict encounter attacks before they are thrown not only is the armor near indestructible even landing a punch is damn near impossible when the giant armor manages to subdue cap and begins squeezing the life from him tony makes the only move he has left knowing that all of his armors are coded to his own biometric signature he releases a taser strong enough to kill him into his own heart the shock succeeds in stopping the raging hulkbuster but almost nearly kills tony outright safe to say the raw power of the hulkbuster armor was witnessed by all of new york city when it took down earth's mightiest heroes without breaking a sweat in terms of sheer strength and physical capability you just can't beat the hulkbuster armor the downside to the suit and the reason it ranks a respectable fifth instead of placing higher on our list is its inability to adapt to any other situation if you're about to enter a ring with the juggernaut look no further than the hulkbuster suit but in any situation requiring even an ounce of nuance or subtlety you might be better off with another option perhaps you'd prefer number four bleeding edge the bleeding edge armor is the silver centurion of its time a complete technological makeover from the ground up that reinvented the way iron man operated on every level created by stark with crucial input and assistance from reed richards of the fantastic four the bleeding edge armor is the closest tony has ever come to simply uploading his consciousness into a suit of armor the bleeding edge armor exists within tony's biology within his very body itself during the time when tony's heart was being run by a repulsor battery a self-generating battery with the potential energy to power my body indefinitely the repulsor battery within tony's chest was endlessly rechargeable and pumped unquantifiable amounts of energy directly into tony's brain energy his mind harnessed to become even more intelligent than he already was using this internal energy and the reusable power he now had access to stark resolved to build a suit beyond any he had previously dreamt of and he succeeded the bleeding edge armor can literally be worn by no one else because it is part of tony's physical form instead of donning the bleeding edge armor like he would with any of his previous suits when iron man is needed tony's repulsor battery literally builds the bleeding edge around his body itself when not in use the metal of the armor is literally stored within the hollow parts of tony's bones the armor is so intimately connected to his body there is no outside systems needed to operate the bleeding edge armor tony's repulsor juiced brain does all the work for him running systems analysis flight checks anything that the iron man armor used to need processing power on backup computers to run it can now do entirely from tony's mind the bleeding edge armor is completely and utterly controlled by tony with no possibility of outside interference or mal intent completely inconspicuous available at the drop of the hat and not to mention sleek as all get out there is no doubt that the bleeding edge armor deserves its fourth place spot and if you're wondering how could he possibly improve on this one well the answers lie just ahead number three endo sim armor one answer is venom during the superior iron man era tony's personality was altered such that he basically became a super villain as a result tony decided he needed to put a new spin on his iron exoskeleton he settled on the endo sim armor by combining his previous tech with the building blocks of a symbiote tony was able to create full liquid smart metal that not only moves smoothly but much like the bleeding edge suit takes its commands directly from his thoughts pepper pot summarized the suit best when she called it symbiote infused armor additionally rather than featuring a full face covering the endo sim armor features a visor of graphene that allows tony both full view out of his helmet with the same level of protection the graphene layer is even strong enough to take a bullet at point-blank range the armor much like a symbiote exhibits the ability to fully bond with tony tracking him wherever he goes and intervening independently on his behalf even when it's in liquid state put simply the endo sim armor is a living armor that can operate both as tony's iron man suit or his partner the endo sim maintains all of the biological benefits of the bleeding edge armor but can additionally act outside of tony's explicit control the liquid armor has a mind of its own and although it makes it incredibly dangerous and irresponsible to create in the first place it also makes it wildly powerful tony uses during the climax of the fear itself event is potentially the most powerful he's ever worn imbued with the power of asgard itself the armor is fully indestructible and powerful magic backs up every repulsor blast and laser beam imagine repulsors with the force of thor's hammer and targeting technology with the all side of heimdall though his time with the armor is brief it must be documented as one of the most powerful suits iron man has ever flown into battle number one model prime though perhaps no suit can match up to the magical power of the uru armor the model prime suit is undoubtedly the most versatile most functional and most high-tech armor tony has ever put together this is because the model prime is the best of all worlds after seeing reedy williams post online having reverse engineered one of the old iron man suits tony decides it's time to step it up it's time to re-crown himself the king of future tech tony puts his nose to the grindstone and comes out with the cleanest the sleekest the most jam-packed armor he has ever invented after endless designs and redesigns tony finally found a way to merge all of my different armor modes into one and importantly after his last few designs the model prime is not attached to my biology in a way that freaks just about everyone out but is completely attached to my brain synapses the model prime is just about the most perfect iron man armor it's versatile and lightweight but not flimsy flashy but with a killer stealth mode for covert operations much like the bleeding edge armor it responds to tony's thoughts and ideas almost in a similar way to the green lantern ring able to create new weapons and constructs from its molecular structure as quickly as tony can think of them when fighting karnak an inhuman whose power is literally to detect structural weakness tony's model prime armor wipes the floor with him as he quips sorry i don't have any tony has likely made thousands of suits of armor over the years each with their own strengths and weaknesses but in his entire history never has he made a single suit of armor without any weaknesses it's clear to see that compared to every other suit of armor on this list the model prime reaches higher and achieves more than all of them combined and that is because dear viewer it actually does combine all of them into one damn near
