one of the most common misconceptions about the pokemon anime is the fact that ash doesn't evolve his pokemon clearly they haven't watched past gen 1. because they're too busy doing all this complaining people tend to forget that a lot of ash's pokemon actually do evolve and these moments tend to be pretty freaking epic so in this video i'll be counting down the top 10 ash ketchum evolution moments now before we begin here are a few things to keep in mind firstly this isn't really about the pokemon themselves that much but more about the specific moments they've evolved and the possible impacts it had also i won't be counting pokemon evolutions that happened before being under ash's ownership as they weren't technically his yet and lastly these are just my opinions alright so with that out of the way let's get started [Music] number 10 kingler y'all remember ash had this pokemon well i sure as heck do cause its evolution is literally the only memorable thing about it in ash's first ever pokemon league battle he decides to whip out his krabby a pokemon he's never used up until this point out of sheer luck krabby ends up winning his first ever battle and evolves because of it but that's not all folks because following its evolution kingler then proceeds to sweep the rest of mandy's team like it was nothing talk about beginner's luck although kingler hasn't had much time to shine after this moment at the very least it made ash's first ever pokemon league battle a memorable one thanks to its pretty insane evolution moment number nine charizard now charmander's evolution into charmeleon isn't all that memorable to be honest as it happens kind of randomly it's evolution into charizard however we'll never forget that moment after ash gets attacked by a wild aerodactyl charmeleon evolves into charizard so they could take to the skies to save its trainer or so we thought what's funny about this moment is the fact that charizard kinda didn't care about ash its main goal was to take on aerodactyl and doing so just so happened to save ash's life it's even coincidental when jigglypuff's song makes aerodactyl drop ash conveniently onto charizard's back still that doesn't take away from the badass moment of seeing ashes fully evolved charizard for the first time plus this moment also leads into ash finding togepi's egg which is a plus number eight glidescore ash's glideguard wanted nothing else but to be a strong battler too bad he was a huge scaredy cat luckily gary oak was around to give ash a razorfang which would help it evolve however ash refused to give it a gligar until it toughened up a bit more and i liked this because it showed that ash wanted gligar to earn its evolution one team rocket kidnapping later and ash accidentally falls into a ravine while trying to escape from their clutches glyger was obviously too small to save ash so he tosses him the razer fang to finally evolve it into glyce core this was such a cool way to evolve i love how quick and smooth it all happens as time is really of the essence here and shortly after saving ash glassware finally gets to show off the new strength it's been yearning for very satisfying number seven crocodile picture this it's generation five ash catches a tepid with a similar backstory to his charizard and infernape and evolves it into a pig knight seems like he'll be the ace for univa right wrong cause in comes crocodile it evolves during ash's battle against iris in the world tournament junior cup iris was pretty much bum rushing the competition with her disobedient dragonite but that all changed when they had to face crocorrock although it seemed like ash was going to lose crock rock was able to evolve into a crocodile learn dragon claw and take out iris's dragonite now that's what i call a show stealer after this moment there was no doubt in our minds that crocodile was ash's best universe pokemon i mean he took out a freaking pseudo right after its evolution that's pretty epic if you ask me number six get kuga you best believe the channel's mascot made it onto the list it was a huge moment for the xy anime and it's what began the hype train for the rest of the xyz season while ash was visiting sampei at the ninja village it was soon under attack by another group of ninja that were trying to become hokage or something i don't know during a fierce battle with a ninja and his bish sharp however frogadier jumps in to protect pikachu and evolves as a result of this not only was this an awesome evolution moment but shortly after this we got the first ever activation of because of this moment the rest of the xy anime was filled with intrigue and mystery and most of all hype it's pretty cool that greninja always gained a new technique or evolution whenever they met some pain so it's only fitting and natural that their final encounter allowed it to reach its final evolution number 5 this evolution makes the list because of its great setup and execution after losing torento and his galade ash and kavan were determined to get their revenge and thus kicked off kamon's mini training arc after learning the move detect while training with wickstrom ash and cameron were ready for a rematch but even that wasn't enough as camon's elite gets this is where ash gets the bright idea however to use the split leak as a sword and shield seeing kamon battle like this was such a great way to foreshadow his eventual evolution and after landing three powerful critical hits it actually happened seeing the stubborn farfetch turn into the chivalrous surfetch was amazing this is what his training arc was leading up to such an epic and badass moment we stan a chad duck camon number four talonflame and neuvern leave it to xy to give us two very similar and equally epic evolutions by battling legendary birds talonflamed evolved when ashe used it against moltres flegender was getting b and it seemed like it was down for the count but when ash and his friends were in danger it got in the way of mochus's flamethrower and evolved into talent flame probably the best use of a phoenix metaphor by evolving in the fires of the legendary moltres as for noyvern it evolved from noibat while facing zapdos halucha who's like an older brother to it just got hit by zapdos as thunder and it seemed like no one could save it then this little dude flies with all of his might to rescue his older brother and evolved into northern because of it it was so cool to see it be on par with zapdos for a bit and it even used echolocation to maneuver around unfortunately team rocket showed up to cut short the epic battle but that was still an awesome evolution moment nonetheless number three monferno [Music] the lake acuity battle between ash and paul was pretty much like a warm up for the sinnoh league this is where they put it all on the line to see who's truly the strongest trainer at this point in their journey and ash got obliterated he was down to his final pokemon at chimchar while paul so had five that's insane despite the odds however the little monkey did not give up and managed to take out paul's ursuring and as a result evolved into monferno this was such a good moment because paula given up on chimchar he saw it as useless he couldn't reach the true potential of blaze while under his ownership and he obviously couldn't make it evolve but with ash it did this moment was huge when it came to the rivalry between ash and paul because even though ash got destroyed in this battle chimchar's revolution into monferno gave everyone a glimpse into the true potential it had with ash there was a lot of meaning behind this evolution number 2 lucario now this one was pretty special ever since the introduction of ash's orability in movie 8 many people saw lucario as the perfect pokemon for ash the concept was even mentioned again in diamond and pearl but unfortunately the writers never gave him a ryolu and after that ash's horror abilities were never mentioned again that was until pokemon journeys this series not only brought back ash's aura ability but even gave him a ryolu ever since then it wasn't a matter of if but when and then during the climax of the darkest day arc against chairman rose it finally happened seeing ash with the lucario felt like a dream come true and it was so damn cool to see lucario communicate with ash through with sora this is all we ever wanted what made this evolution stand out even more is the fact that it happens at the same time as ghost rabbu let that sink in we got the evolutions for lucario and cinderella's in the same episode and then they even teamed up with zashin and zamasunta to take down eternities that is some cool right there i'll never forget this moment alright now before we get to the number one entry let's quickly go over the honorable mentions that couldn't quite make the list [Music] number one incineroar this moment is a powerful one ever since their first encounter tora cat made incineroar his rival because of that it basically spent the rest of sun and moon with the goal of surpassing it someday and after a gruelling battle in the alola league it achieves that goal and finally evolved into incineroar yeah it would have been cool to have it evolved before then so we could have an epic incineroar vs incineroar battle but the fact that it waited until after it had won to evolve made the moment all the more better it wanted to prove it could win as a torah cat which it did and it was huge so its evolution was its own reward for finally winning against its rival yeah it's kind of a bummer that it knocked itself out right after so we couldn't really see a battle as an incineroar but you can't deny that incineroar's evolution was a damn cool one it was the perfect way to close out its character arc which is why it's the best evolution moment out of any of ash's pokemon thanks for watching
