greetings welcome to the city of tokyo i'm back again for an okawari i'm back because they said that there would be all new trucks if i came the next day and guess what there are they're all new trucks here this is so cool one two three four five six trucks in this parking lot it's called tea lunch um they're actually all over the city i found about four or five more of them so i might go check them out i guess this is what i'm gonna be doing in august and september food truck runs and there's nothing wrong with that hey everybody there's nothing wrong with that so we're gonna get some more food truck here today um now i i see yoshinoya has a food truck here too check it out it says yoshinoya so that's really interesting i guess it's a franchisee a chain that is also bringing you bringing us some gyudon or is it an imposter right it's in nosh abroad we're gonna find this out this is so exciting all right before we go ahead and get something um a bag of a bento bag to take to the park like this lady has right here we're gonna investigate the menus so um i want you to remember what you see and kind of vote we're gonna have a vote because i can only get one lunch however i will get two because kanai decided that she wants one and she was gonna come but um i think because of the situation it's better to keep kanai and the baby at home then this one looks famous whenever they show clips of japanese tv um this means that they're quite quite famous oh this looks so good what is this um it's like all sorts of grilled stuff on a bento all right so far this is the winner because this is the first one they have some tamagoyaki on there and some more fried stuff wow and that's pretty reasonable about seven dollars for this all right next up okay oh here's the menu here michael cesano is the first one to chime in here here we go again looking forward to more yummy truck food adventures let's see we can this butter don is very high on my list check it out that's just um pork with sauce on rice and the fried chicken sounds like something i had yesterday miso baked tilefish and miso baked pork bento that looks really yummy too i like the fact that they have things in english for you guys to check it out and then there's kinds of delicatessen food bento that's sort of a mix boy this looks really good look at the sauce on there all right keep that in mind let's look at the next one here this kitchen car and i guess in japanese food trucks is called kitchen cars uh tonteki and this one has steak sauce a1 steak sauce on top of it and it's of course it's served in a box but that's what you get inside of it that looks pretty good it's eight dollars for this and you can get an increase in meat you can get 1.5 times the amount of meat for an extra 200 yen and you can get super meat w size i don't know what that means for another 200 on top of that so if you really like meat you can get double this if you want the volume rafte don and i guess this is pieces of pork and you can see the fats on there that looks really good too that's eight dollars as well and you can also upgrade the meat comes with rice and a little bit of a salad this is an okinawa bento and i guess it's the spam on there and they make the spam look like a um w for wide they make the spam on there to look like a heart to me that that wins my heart over although spam probably is not good for your heart but never mind that and then we have the mix bento which is a little bit of everything that looks really good too there's some um a1 steak sauce on that on that um sauteed i'm not sure if it's beef or pork and then there's a there's some more um uh another kind of pork over there on the side that one is is also a leading contender a little bit of everything there the truck's pretty cute too like they have a little little pig right there and they got beer uh the drink menu there's no there's no actual beer on here because i think the this city of tokyo is cracking down on on beer sales outside trying to keep people from spreading this from lack of beer that looks great haisai the okinawa uh tontekidon check it out that's a lot of meat all right this food truck here is it says food food project so i don't know if that's the name of the restaurant a lot of these places do have um actual physical shops at a location this one looks great it's a tomato stew roasted pork and curry this looks healthy chicken chicken namban that's one of my favorites oh man chicken nambam and then they also have kima curry here which seems to be a popular one and then there's a negi shio um what is that negi is it japanese green leek leeks green onions with salt and pork carbidon so pieces of pork on there that looks really good too so this is also a top contender i like the the sack of onions on the side that's a nice touch shane shane has brought the first the second bento thank you shane no poutine if i see a poutine i'm gonna run away i might end up back in the park with nothing just out of fear um the lunch menu looks good here too polgogi which is a korean korean type of lunch so this is right i guess this is not korean influenced food porgogi is um kind of like yakiniku right it's a kind of meat seven dollars for that this is um spicy grilled chicken that looks good too look at the spice on it that looks good and has it oh that's that's the um um bulgogi and this is half and half that looks good too i like it when they they mix it all up that's like a um uh japanese what do you call it um you mix you mix everything up in like a stone pot and sometimes the rice burns to the side and it's nice and crispy oh man i love bibimbap and spicy soft tofu stew this is some good stuff here and cold korean noodles this is good all right so this is also a contender all right now nausea broad road in this could be possibly an imposter uh it doesn't look like a lot of people are are hanging out in front of the yoshinoya truck but let's just check out the menu here i'm not going to be getting yoshi on your truck but this looks really good too this is a good one it does look like the the oh it is i don't think it's an imposter the recommended is the meat the um just the regular udon i would recommend that because i don't i don't think you you can come to japan and not have udon uh and not have yoshinoya even for a small bowl the prices are pretty reasonable although i do think it's a little bit a little bit pricier than at the shop but again you got to pay for the the driving around and the wheels and stuff like that and maybe there's some rent involved with this as well this is interesting so this seems to be a food truck special the tororo gyudon bento so tororo is this kind of mountain potato when it's all mashed up it's nice and gooey and it soaks into the rice like that you can put a little bit of soy sauce in there to give it some saltiness and ah it's really nice wow and you can up size you can up upgrade the size and even downgrade it so the normal size is zero right here and you can see the um omori and then the sorry the like small omori the omori the special omori and then the super super super sized bowl for 400 and more you get even more rice and more you don't that looks all pretty good but the yoshinoya truck is not getting much love today i guess you don't like when i come here to a food truck i kind of want to i kind of want to support local businesses not not chains so that's sort of against it oh this looks good this is the hawaiian hawaiian truck hawaiian food is so popular in japan this is the hawaiian shisorito whoa this menu looks like it's been through a couple of battles [Music] so i had this tartar sauce one yesterday so i'm gonna pass on that and if you didn't see food truck yesterday i was at a food truck um here it was a lot less crowded but i think it was an hour later than i was live streaming now this is the tomato chili which looks great wow and then this is the coconuts and lemon oh this looks great coconut and lemon on chicken yum yum give me some that's seven dollars for that that's really affordable and you can see them working through the through the little little window here yesterday this is where i got the the chocolate and caramel naan today it's hawaiian this is so interesting right every day it's a different food truck i can see how people can get addicted to this i can see how people can get addicted to this and want to want to get more see they do have an actual shop this is called mochiko chicken and um i wonder what their shop is hold on chicken flowers inc oh so they do have a shop okay i don't think that they do that's interesting not all of these places have shops here all right so i'm gonna i'm gonna walk over to the corner here and then we're gonna mochiko the baked fish hawaiian hawaiian lemon chicken ooh meat kakona just writes meat craig rates and pork let's keep it simple one word chicken namban is definitely high on the list here get everything the first truck everything hawaiian that chicken getting one one is the chicken there's a couple of chicken places get more non there's no non here ah this is crazy yoshinoya anything fried oh gosh the first truck the second truck all right you know what i'm spinning right now i think the first truck looks the most interesting um the second truck had some good stuff and i like that spam with the heart mark that kind of won me over i don't know i think i'm going to get kanai that coconut lemon chicken because she seems to like hawaii and coconut and lemon it just seems like a winner so let's get kanai that to go and i'm gonna try maybe a little bit of this and a little bit of that so let's try this one this this one seemed to be the most interesting because it it's um it just it just looks like a cool truck all right let's let's try this out here which which was the one that i wanted to get here um the six kinds was that the one here yeah this the uh different kind might be interesting although that that fish looks good with the um miso all right i'm waiting in line now i don't know so number six is the actual recommended one it says here oh susume hey trecorus long time no see and mark konichiwa from texas we love the channel all right so it's going to be about about two or three minutes before we get up to the front here but i've got the cash go 1000 yen for this here foreign right oh my gosh just like yesterday it is overflowing oh my gosh look at that the chicken's breaking through there's so much of it that's volume i was was there any dessert items here is there any dessert items here i'm going to get kanai the hawaiian i think but i'm going to open it up and give you a chance to look at it all right the lady just sort of quick this is the most popular one here they've got a line you have to bring your own umbrella though it's a sunbrella all right my bed just coming right now they move quickly here this is exciting hey all right wow look at the presentation of this wow it came with this it came in a nice container but they put a little wrapper around it so it really does look like a bento now i forget i for one i for went the bag because i'm trying to save on on buying plastic bags here and they charge an extra 5 yen all right let's go to the park here and chow down on this we're gonna be making our way back to back to the uh food trucks but let's go over the vending machine and get a drink this feels like yesterday shane this is deja vu it's like we were just here if they have a hall of fame for food trucks in this area i want to be a member i got to keep coming back here all right does anybody know this is yesterday actually it is if you're watching the us do you remember what drink i got yesterday does anybody remember two points if you can recall no tapioca this i got something from the vending machine before that awful tapioca drink i got the green tea exactly boom all right today we're going to go with i think jasmine tea because i really want to relax jasmine tea looks pretty good this is not a carbon copy of yesterday all new food trucks excuse me did you not see that all new there's a difference i think i gotta put the lunch down here totally new different food trucks just same place what if i did one week of just coming here and i ate at every food truck would that be pretty crazy imagine if i ate here if a live stream every day from the same place that's insanity it's still there you never know with the crows around here if you leave food around it usually disappears pretty quickly all right off we go to the park follow that bento this area is loaded with mosquitoes and chairs to sit down so it's kind of a trade-off i think a mosquito bit me in mid walk here mid halfway i guess they the mosquitoes are waiting like a taxi's up like you wait for a taxi upstream try to get to the taxi before the other people do oh man i'm all itchy already oh that guy's sitting where i was sitting yesterday how can i social distance i see chan is still stuck in the trunk i can sit up higher i think i sat here yeah this is where i sat yesterday now it's deja vu yesterday was a little bit later so people had already eaten their bentos by the time yesterday came about i'm putting the tripod on you can oh you can hear the roar of the cicada they really are in the summer mode all right here we go this is not a cemetery who wrote that there's a little tab here to open it hey john kimura thank you you just got kanai's lunch there and td sdr dessert fun you got it i'll be back there and i'm glad that that chan is no longer in the boot or are you wow this is so worth it oh is it is there something to oh look at this look at this it's two layers what did they do here so there's there's two decks on this that is quantity and quality indeed and it's healthy too wow all right you know what i gotta separate this here so i'm gonna use the plastic top here as a that's awesome what do you think of this this is this is a sweet little deal here that was that's eight dollars for this that's pretty good all right i'm gonna set the tripod up here and ugh jasmine tea look george it says that not enough rice that's probably a good thing oh that's good tea no sugar wow now this is japanese cuisine they are hot don't worry about that these are heated pan down wow has like a they've had a little bit of sauce into the rice it's really good a nice flavor to it kind of a seafood seafood um flavor in the rice so shane you probably wouldn't like this too much all right let's give this a try here this has a little bit of everything wow we'll go with the kabocha which is a piece of pumpkin i like that it's been simmered it's not too soft the um the outside or the skin of the pumpkin has some consistency a little bit of crunch but perfectly cooked and the pumpkins are sweet kabuto are kind of sweet so there's a saltiness and a sweetness that's really satisfying like caramel but it's not it's pumpkin salty caramel essence of that sort of mosquitoes are having a feast down there all right next up this fish wow it's a little piece of little piece of uh um bone that was so soft so soft slight saltiness kind of a slight saltiness a little bit of a i don't know i guess like a miso slightly i don't know if it's cod i'm not sure what it was i forget the menu oh it's so tender it's so soft delicate delicate piece of fish it's that's really good it's cooked it's cooked yeah you know fish may not be for anybody but if you're going to eat fish eat fish in japan all right next up i put the other piece on the rice here let's try the rincon or lotus roots here oh man i love lotus roots nice and crunchy shea rock she she writes in here hi john i have a food truck in hawaii one of my goals is to open a spot in japan it will happen i believe it oh yeah let me know when you come to japan i will go and eat there food truck in hawaii hawaiian food trucks are so popular here they're so popular all right next up on this hit list there's more check it out this is like um a karage pizza i think this is fish whoa it's it's kind of wet there's some sauce in there i'm guessing it's a daikon wow so much flavor that's chicken got a little bit of a daikon daikon um dashi daikon dashi with the karagi and the deep fried skin is is kind of moist it's really good daikon oroshi not a lot of daikon though all right next up this is one of my favorite gobo sarada gobo is a burdock root and they make pretty good salads that's good there's a little bit of a kick to it maybe they added a little bit of mustard karashi maybe just a little bit you need that kick gives it personality and they have um beans in there which is nice touch very nice touch right anyone know what this is tamagoyaki oh this one looks good like the hole in it this is moist now tamagoyaki you add some dashi in there the dashi uh gives it like a moisture moistness to it that's um wow just japanese tamagoyaki like a sweet egg it's just so good there's a shop in tsukiji and tsukiji is only a five minute walk from here we visited a tamagoyaki shop over there before and that was really good oh my gosh my feet are double sized now from all those mosquito bites ah it's worth it all right next up looks like a fish cake like a crab cake what there's an ant on the gimbal this park is loaded with the loaded with insects critters can you eat the critters probably this is a tale of two lunches everybody on the one side yesterday volume deep fried tartar sauce volume i couldn't eat until like 9 p.m that day i had to wait nine hours before i was hungry again david kimura writes in here extra food funds for your family thank you david i'm bringing back something for kanai and uh maybe i'll get some dessert as well because we got we have a call for that thank you yeah you know what i'm not getting flag lag bait i'm not getting any tapioca milk all right that's nasty pass i could use bug spray i'll live i'll live wow this was this was a treat you know boba tea is natural mosquito repellent yesterday's lunch was more volume it's more of a like a stamina lunch i guess you would call it you just put a lot of stuff on there and gives you energy this was more like gourmet they had all like little bit of really delicious stuff and it was prepared very well prepared very well would you drink tapioca for 600 likes 7.50 are we bargaining chan 750 you get your 750 i'll take down all that tapioca how's that we're never gonna get there anyways um the rice is also really good everything is perfect you know i think there's a reason why there's a reason why that truck is so popular like a good chef is always thinking about um the textures of the food the color the textures and the experience that the that the customer or the eater is going to have and if they have a good experience in japan they're going to come back so on thursdays this truck is here every thursday so if i like that truck i can come back here to that kitchen car and get the same thing and i like that um there's a consistency a pattern to it yesterday that truck wasn't there i think they're going around to different locations around tokyo shifting and that's really good because they're thinking about the customer right they're thinking about adding uh different kinds of food for variety and that keeps people coming back so i came back today only because they said they're going to switch the trucks and they did and don't scratch those bite marks it makes it worse this isn't evil this is a kind of fish we'll go figure it out there's butter a little bit of miso and which gives it a saltiness i i taste the butter on that one there it's so good but the rice has seaweed in there little pieces of of vegetables very healthy yeah wow what is that a little bit of spice in there just bent over five out of five perfect volume too you don't need more than this i didn't need more than this it's perfect all right let's head back let's head back because i'm getting eating eating alive oh my gosh i'm so itchy i wasn't the only one that had lunch today cobra bebop i am on that team sign me up mosquitoes are blood sucking leeches same category as toby except there's too many of them i saw the blueberry chips at don quixote um they they expired though the expiration date was was august 2020 so they got to be eaten but the don quijote i found a couple of bags but i'm not going to buy them because it's just nasty blueberry gum potato chips let's go back to the food truck area looks like it's gonna rain it's also the docomo rental bicycles with the battery powered in there it's a parking lot for them right in front of the food truck i guess they don't have a gummy buckle or trash can i feel bad throwing this away here i'll just put it in my bag what could go wrong all right what kind of fish i said no no no no hmm wow so he said that it's called tile fish and they they put a little bit of miso in there it seemed like it was sort of a secret so i didn't want to push too much but there was a little bit of butter i could taste a little butter and there was some miso in there it's just delicate that is such a gourmet experience at bento there um so i i'll come back you know this isn't too far away from my house i'm just go i'm just going like this the whole time because i got completely obliterated all right um the korean food looks really really good too and so did that one over there check out that that mound of meat goodness but i think kanai kanai wants the um the coconut she loves coconuts she loves thai cuisine too i don't feel bad for yoshinoy at all so let's get kanai something to go and see if we see if there's any kind of a dessert so we're gonna get the coconut and lemon for kanai but is there dessert does yoshi know you have dessert [Music] i might just have to go to can i just go to family mart i have to get something for dessert i promised toppings no there's no dessert today yesterday they had the caramel chocolate naan so today there's no dessert so i'm going to get kanai's coconut lemon thank you so much john kumara and shane and i'm than mine so you can be the judge i just want to see if it was better or where can i open this up and not be totally gross all right right on the street here it's all good just as long as okay all right let's see what kanai's had was kanai's better than mine so far it's gonna be tough one but check this out credit for having their own um container with their company logo on it this is really good they've had food trucks since 2005. all right let's open it up i'm not eating it this is for kanai wow that looks awesome look at that deep fried chicken with coconuts and lemon oh this is gonna be great we're gonna have to reheat it a little bit but it's it's still pretty hot it'll be hot when i get home i don't live too far away from here all right kanai you're getting a good one i'm kind of jealous but i i don't think i don't think you could go wrong i don't think i could go wrong um anything i got was gonna be pretty good so that's the food truck area from uh in ginza this is called tea lunch and i believe i'll put i put a link in the description of the yesterday's video i came here yesterday and if you're interested to see what it looked like yesterday it was different i came at a different time so there were less people after the lunch rush um it's a little bit more relaxed it was pretty relaxed right now too wow i'm i feel not as heavy as yesterday yesterday was really heavy all right td sdr let's go get a dessert um i'm gonna have to do it inside of the family mart though it's not it's not ideal no tapioca okay all right so what are we getting for dessert here keep let's go back to the same spot i was yesterday i don't use a point card this is bonus time no tapioca because we didn't get there yet was that heir to the ron heir to the ron did i miss something family mart or lawson's family mart that's easy although lawson's is making a comeback lawsons has lawson's has always been 7-eleven of course is that is the king right now lawson's has always been um number three but when i came to japan they were quite popular but they never really upgraded you know what i mean where the rest of japan started to upgrade lawson's kind of stayed the same 7-eleven upped their game lawson stayed their same you know nothing wrong with that but again like if you if you ask people personal preference lawson's uh 7-eleven is top but if for a lot of um it depends also regionality is important some places there aren't as many 7-eleven some places there aren't as many whoa i gotta do this again this is the burnt banana why would they burn those bananas pudding cake it's not pudding it's not cake it's pudding cake oh it's not big but it's not small well it's it actually it is small it's not insignificant that's what i'm trying to say the smell test smells like burnt banana very tropical no cinnamon a little bit of caramel maybe i i'm trying chicago african i'm trying to encourage kanai to do her own youtube channel i think she's gonna do it i think she just needs a little bit of time we both have our hands full with with the baby i have to tell you it's it's it's like a full-time job all right then i gave us part three two one that's good i i could dance to this i have some banana brule i have banana i have brulee it's not pudding it's not cake it's pudding cake whoa hey guess what i heard that michael jackson i i not hurt i found out that michael jackson did not originate the moonwalk it was actually being done in the 1950s or 1930s somebody had done it it's interesting news i thought that michael jackson had invented the moonwalk it was not true just adding that information i'm looking out for questions here moonwalk came from the street man what does that mean it actually came from um anyways if you search it on the internet you see the first one from the 1930s it's pretty interesting they have it on tv uh i thought it was i thought it was pretty cool to see that it's basically like a bread pudding with a banana taste to it you can check it out i think the video says a thousand words here it's basically like bread pudding see that um it's got that kind of consistency um and the the bananas on top you don't want to eat them all like this it's kind of take a bite with the banana and take a little bit of the pudding cake but it's not a it's true it's not really a pudding or it's not really a cake it's like a bread pudding and bread pudding isn't very popular in japan the english version of it so they i guess they don't know how to market it but i guess that's what it would be i i don't know i don't know fred astaire did the moonwalk as well a couple of times i thought that that was interesting to see fred astaire big fan of reddish dare when i was growing up in the 80s if you could dance everybody's asked so you think you're some kind of fred astaire nobody says that anymore wow it's not too sweet either i mean it's pretty it's pretty sweet but it's not you think it would be like caramel sweet like really sugary it's not james brown did it too man michael jackson though at the motown 25 i think was the event he when he he just did that one it's like we'd never really seen it before but we probably had we just never seen it on the stage like that i don't know popped up in my youtube feed what are you gonna do i remember searching for it i don't know why it was recommended to me but i saw it it was like that's pretty cool all right i'm almost finished with the edited video a lot of people have been asking me about the other channel it's almost finished i got the 8k is a little bit heavier to to edit and i'm not i forgot to use proxies so it's a little bit takes me a little bit longer but it's about done rodney dangerfield did not invent the moonwalk trust me check out the video bill bailey right dancer bill bailey did it um i forget what was called the backslide i think it was called the backslide yeah you know the only thing with the food truck today that i'm disappointed about is the fact that they didn't have um dessert and yesterday we found um caramel chocolate naan and at the end of the livestream i complimented the chef and he said thank you i thought that was kind of cool that was good all right i'm going to jettison that and this bento package which leaked in my bag i knew it really thankfully i have the napkin from yesterday to clean out my bag i knew it was gonna do that better not use my sleeve again i got in trouble using my sleeve as a napkin who does everybody does that don't they use your you go like this i i've been doing that since i was a kid no one ever complained yeah nobody does that um hisoko writes in i don't i'm 34 and still single it's all right i i was 40 i didn't get married till i was like 44. so it's plenty of time all right folks that's about it this is where we ended the last live stream um i'm gonna scratch thank you to the family mart right here i'm gonna scratch now i got a lot of scratching to do this was bad today oh man all right tomorrow's live stream i'm not sure what what i'm doing yet but um i got a couple of email messages to collaborate with local youtubers here and i might just go ahead and do that and um it's a lot of fun to collaborate again like i don't do that a lot but um you know i had so much fun with eric eric berg just hanging out you know i think it's good to make some friends here except except it's not i'm not dancing i'm scratching it's not the best time to be doing that though right to having collabs and meeting up with people because this delta thing is real and thanks a lot for everybody who's been um um uh sharing their concerns with me i really do appreciate that but i i don't know if it's the best time to collaborate um if somebody asked me about the main channel and i had to respond to them because i i feel like the response is needed all of all of the location shoots all of them collapsed with the state of emergency everything that i was going to film and everything that i needed to film for insert shots gone i should have filmed them the first time around so i have a lot of videos that are just incomplete that can't be finished right now um that's why i did the olympic one so that's coming um i think i'll have it up by tomorrow i'll do the narration today and i should have it up by tomorrow but that it'll feel good to get one out there and then i get the schedule rolling again i do have an assistant a new assistant which is a pretty cool feeling to help me out now with the location shoots and to set them up because handling multiple location shoots with japanese locations and doing back and forth with multiple people it's a tiring thing they require a lot of service that i can't really give because i got leo in one hand and and everything else in the other but the last two months i was able to sort some stuff out and now um yeah it's coming back so i definitely needed an assistant everybody needs one um and uh gonna pay her uh of
