hello I'm a px like and something that makes minecraft fairly unique when it comes to big games is the fact that it's not actually one big game it's two separate big games using the same name using the same updates and using the same marketing but they are very much different games developed in different languages for entirely different platforms there's Minecraft Java which is much more popular with Minecraft hardcore audience it's a bit more polished and it's available on PC Mac and Linux and then there's minecraft bedrock which is much more popular with the general public there's over a hundred million copies of it sold out there and also it's available and pretty much every device from phones to tablets to consoles to anything in between so the question comes as to why I play the bedrock version as opposed to the much more popular with the Thank You B&C jar Edition why do I play the version that would probably get me you know less views on YouTube than if I played the job edition and let me explain that to you in today's video because although the internet likes to believe that Java good bedrock bad and listen true to that because of the polish that comes up you know Java the truth is there are lots of features only available in bedrock and in today's video I when it slow through them one by one which I hope you all do enjoy so please do like this video if you do like it because it helps out the channel and listener you do like these big breakdowns it takes a long time to go through layout every single feature and a decent example of it but I think it's something worth doing to explain the actual differences between these versions because a lot of people aren't entirely aware even if they play both of them you know sometimes you just run in something that's different and I figured I could help people by diving through everything today and again I'm gonna start by clarifying this is excluding UI differences because of course the crafting and the way the inventory as a whole is laid out on bedrock is hugely different the way a lot of these things include the back there in the top left you see your character when you sprint all of this is very very different even the coordinates you see on screen right now there's a lot of UI differences there's a lot of tiny differences when it comes to commands and stuff but we're mostly going to be focusing on in-game features for today because that's what most people notice care about and will spot when it's different and the very first one the most interesting one this is a gone to a lot of people because it's the first thing a lot of people spot when they watch my videos is that wait a minute so I can how are you placing blocks down straight like this and it's because it's a bedrock exclusive feature if you're on Java and if you're on console you have to place blocks on the side vanilla block by placing onto the side edge like this however this was actually a feature from before bedrock had crouching you can actually place blocks directly in front of you which means you can basically sprint place in front of you if you really want it's hard and it takes a bit of but it is in fact they think you can do speaking of which by the way some things you can do let's talk about beds because most people know that beds have to function they skip the night and they set your spawn point on Java the way this works is it skips the night and coincidentally sets your spawn point but on bedrock it very much is a way to skip the night but it's also a spawn point setter meaning you can actually set your spawn point in the date if you so choose I haven't slept in this bed yet but if I try to even those the day and I can't sleep because it's not night it also save respawn at point set in the chat just over there on the top left by the way chats and even position on bedrock I supposed to Java but still the fact that you can set your respawn point even when it's not day is super super handy also super interesting when it comes to the world around you you'll notice how there are loads of different things only found in bedrock when you go into a forest there are these dying trees right here which are covered in vines this is a rare feature you find every now and then in a forest it's just a way to say oh yeah the trees been overgrown for quite some time and then when the tree really dies it turns into a fallen tree so of course this is just a will generation feature but it's a pretty interesting one where you can actually find tree logs just along the ground looking like this again super fascinating bedrock exclusive fallen trees only found on the bedrock edition of Minecraft kind of like the way the Walden rich works so here's a sign to show something really interesting because if I go over here look at way out how to meet where the edge and where end distance is because notice how the render distance doesn't just a pitch chunk by chunk instead it fades into view looking something a little bit like this it's very fascinating also when it comes to render distance when you're on bedrock you don't get a square in a distance by every chunk in a you know like a cube kind of around you instead you get kind of a circle because there's a fog effect over the very corners so you can see as the chunks are spawning in they're spawning in but then they're fading to make a kind of circle this means the effective render distance can be further when you're looking for words and it matches more intuitively what you expect in the real world because you don't see diagonal corners in the real world it's still a very you know different to both the you know console and indeed the job editions though so unexpected feature you might not know about speaking of unexpected features something I think actually is quite handy is the fact that you can have 3d skins on bedrock so a lot of people question how do I have a tail with my Ocelot skin a lot people question how do you have is at the top your head and the reason is because you can have certain bits of 3d geometry attached to a skin they kind of down and also you have a skin pick game where you can decide between these things the only downside you know with this is the fact that if you choose one of these it usually comes from a skin pack and although some of these are free most of them are not in other words minecraft bedrock has cosmetic you know DLC and that's one of the reasons why it's skin system is so much better but the upside of this is if you want to play a Star Wars characters actually looking like Star Wars characters for example Yoda you can play as Yoda it's a bit ridiculous because he's literally half the size of a normal character but you can in fact play as Yoda in Minecraft and yeah there's lots of weird examples of stuff like this where your skin our choice is much more varied in bedrock than in Java and yeah but I make my camera is way above where my skin is meaning no one can see me here but I can see them there's a few issues with the way these tiny and extra big skins work but I do feel obliged to mention it just in case you've ever wanted to be you know Marge from The Simpsons or you want to be Lisa there there's a lot of very strange brand deals and skin packs you can buy exclusively on bedrock because the game is not applies in a different way we'll come back to that one more later but yet you look different and that's the important thing that I should mention now cuz gonna be people asking like so how did you do that because bedrock is how incidentally by the way the only time that the game itself actually calls this itself bedrock is when you are in the skin selection menu you can see how it says available in any bedrock platform for the rest of the time in Minecraft bedrock is actually just known as Minecraft because it is the primary focus version of the game it's got the most employees on it it's got the most you know like revenue from etc etc so just keep that in mind as we go forward so it's not actually called bedrock anywhere which is one of the reasons people don't tend to call it bedrock and might not even know it's a separate version of the game speaking of things you might not know are separate things in the game something that I was kind of shocked at when I played jobber again is the fact that skeleton horses required saddles and yeah it's a pretty what weird thing because it doesn't really make too much sense you know either way to me like does it require a saddle or not it both seems a bit strange because you think of the skeleton horse wouldn't want to follow you regardless of the computer saddle on there but yet fun fact skeleton horses you can ride them without saddles on bedrock they also always come in some pretty weak sauce varieties which is kind of interesting and different also if you're a horse let me show you in third-person here you're gonna notice how when I jump the horse kinda jumps with me as opposed to me just being on the top I'm actually like moving alongside the horse as you would up a horse jumped in real life you'd be thrown backwards right you have to hold onto the horse which is something that is represented in bedrock but it's not represented in Java by the way my pro tip is to generally never write horses when you get into multiplayer or round settings because things tend to go a bit weird but yeah let's move out the horses and move into the golems because in the Java edition of Minecraft they added you know Karl pumpkins to the game and this also exists in bedrock as you can see I can share a pumpkin you get some seeds it's a it's a fun thing but on a job listen you need to share a pumpkin before you can put it and onto a snow golem or an iron golem to actually make them whereas golems on bedrock can be made with uncommons so we throw a just regular pumpkin on here look at that it's gonna make a you know an iron golem throw it on the snow golem look at that it makes a snow golem also this one's kind of wacky it used to be exclusive for the longest time but you can shear off the head off the snow golem so it's just an armor that's sad but you can share off the head off the snow golem if you want to and yeah that's a thing that exists also he just walks right into the suicide apparently you know I can't even feel sorry for many more here you can see invoke I think the angles gonna ruin it maybe but you know when you have more entities that are underwater they're not affected by TNT on bedrock when TNT explodes under water it doesn't affect anything which is kind of interesting because look at this all of these mobs should be hurt and killed by tnc but they're not because it's under water and because it's on bedrock also there's a lot of fur you know exclusive kind of underwater mops only in the bedrock version we've got a baby squid over here look out durable that is we've got tropical fish which have slightly bigger you know versions of themselves and then as well as that and then we also have baby dolphins which is quite a dauber little thing you know there's a lot of adorableness and bedrock that's not in each other a lot of you know like the stuff we focused on a Jabba was quite technical and different there's a lot of very cute adorable things only found here in bedrock because look at this baby squid over here I mean I'm gonna get attacked by a drowned for it but look at this baby squid over here don't you want baby squids and your version of Minecraft next up we have a hugely different command block UI I'm gonna show you it right now on job edition and I'm gonna show you it on bedrock edition you can see just how different they really are there's more that kind of options available in bedrock but it's just made very differently and that's an interesting difference between platforms also notion difference is the pillage of banner is a creative inventory item and it looks very slightly different you can see is called the illage banner it's a thing that exists separately in the created menu when you go to banners but yet this one can actually be made yourself if you so choose whereas the Java one is kind of this exclusive little item obviously the job version this feature is better but it is technically exclusive that it exists is it's separate thing and can be made that way another fun fact for were here is the fact that the fortune in Xiamen will work on the two fouls so you see this tool flower over here we'll use fortune and you've got a decent chance of getting two peonies from your pony so you can actually just use this kind of infinitely to grow plants as much as you like which is really cool in my opinion because it basically makes fortune on you know bedrock a more valuable in Xiamen because of the kind of extent it can go to but yet this work so pretty much everything if you so choose it too and yeah you can massively you know grow your ponies if you really want to again I know it's actually not pronounced Pony but I love call these things ponies and try and tell me I can't next up we have some curiously different amble experience costs so if you put your let's just say your fortune one shovel and your fortune one shovel in the ANFO it's gonna cost you four levels on bedrock if we switch over to the job Edition you're gonna notice how the exact same thing fortune one and fortune one is going to equal a cost of ten which is significantly more this is the same across everything we're in shamans just cost different things for similar levels and yeah the only thing that really is the same across both is the fact that if you want to rename a shovel wait no I'm just discovering on the spot apparently you know my initial testing was wrong diamond shovels cost different amounts to rename on platforms to so even renaming an item is more expensive on Java than as you can see to experience over here in Java whereas on bedrock it's a simple one so yeah pro tip if you want to have named shovels do it on bedrock not Java but now that I mentioned something that's better on bedrock as opposed to Java the initial response the big thing this stops a lot of people from switching over is well the redstone is just so different it makes it impossible for all of your old redstone builds to carry over and that is true to some extent the redstone is very slightly different quasi connectivity is not here on bedrock but there are some benefits that you get in exchange for that or at least some very different things such as the fact that you can break camp fires using a piston so instead of being forced to not extend because there's a camp fire there that doesn't make too much sense instead it breaks it which you know you might say well that's not big enough difference to make up for the lack of quasi connectivity maybe differences the fact that you can hopper into jukeboxes if you want so you can have redstone contraptions that will make it so the cat will play yeah that's this that's the Jam right there next up we can also move entity blocks such as chests using you know slime blocks and pistons which is hugely interesting chess being pushed by Pistons is a little bit of a game changer it does some really weird things of double chests so the first time you move it it doesn't it becomes two chests next week Java wrapper which is a little bit strange but obviously you know you can't expect to move two chests at once but the fact that we can move three chests like this up and down it's huge it means you can do different stuff with bases only here on the barrel conditions we also the fact that unconnected redstone is a plus instead of a dot this is something that a lot of texture packs actually do on Java because they think it's such a handy feature because it shows what add of redstone actually is it's not meant to be a dot because it connects to all four sides you know whenever you place them there right which is super interesting you might know that also if you do decide to place redstone it will go into a piston rather than past it again I love this it's such a handy feature for compact redstone and pistons are quite different compared to the job addition so in case you're curious as to what I mean by that the piston doesn't extend and retract instantly here on bedrock it takes a tick so it might look instantly but you can see it's a smoother animation and also the animation involves using this arm right here the arm is much much much thicker on bedrock compared to Java and yeah it basically means that the bedrock piston is different I wouldn't say it can do more because there is a downside to it taking a tick but yeah there are different things you can do based on the fact that it doesn't instantly retract it takes a tick which you can time into your redstone equations also you can time ensure equations or into your the way you place your redstone is the fact that you can place redstone dust directly under Pistons and my god this is such a useful feature again I didn't know it was a better exclusive but when I realized I was like oh that but why isn't that why is this a thing that hasn't be taken over because you can have your you know your redstone go directly on top of a piston like this it's also kind of funny because you can have the Redstone be across on top of piston and then it kind of goes over the top of something that this doesn't make any sense is what I'm saying but it's still the fact that you can do it at all is still kind of cool right I think so yeah you can place redstone on pistons and that redstone all the Pistons can activate the Pistons if you so want it to just to prove it's the case because the level is powering it before here you can see the redstone on the piston is the thing activates it I love this I think it's a really cool little feature and yeah I'm a big fan as what I'm saying here I'm also a big fan of the way berries work on bedrock they're clean out there less resource-intensive and again they they seem to fade in and out much faster than the job equivalent to move on to something more lighthearted though you can also extinguish campfires using shovels if you so choose why would you want to I mean I mean why would you want to do anything in Minecraft you know it's your game you can do it you want no one can tell you what you can and cannot do no one can show you if you want to celebrate that fact you might want to use fireworks and if you use a dispenser on bedrock you can actually face the dispenser in any direction because instead of going upwards which you know to some extent might be logical instead what we have is fireworks can go as you can see right here you know in any direction the dispensary is facing meaning you can actually launch them into walls you can use ice and you can use all sorts things to kind of change the direction but yeah you can have sideways fireworks if you want and I actually think that's really cool personally I also think it's pretty cool that salmon comes in different sizes the fact that this is an exclusive song that's like confuse me for so long because when the update aquatic was being developed there were lots of features that came first to bedrock then first the Java it was gone back and forth but the huge salmon was like oh yeah that's gonna come to jar eventually it just kind of never did it's the version of a lot of things down to bedrock but yeah big salmon median salmon small salmon all your salmon choices they're right here on your bedrock thing also coral fans have just the one paint for their texture instead of two so as you can see it's just the one thing sticking out the wall is that better or not you can tell me also lily pads are slightly free deep they're not just a 2d surface on the thing they're these smallest block in the game's best I know they're 1/64 of a block tool like seriously it's hard to show you this in survival but they do exist with a slight 3d dimension looking just like that the smallest thickness of a block in the game but they are a free D block unlike on Java I also think it's interesting how light works slightly differently on the barrel collisions so for instance the enchantment table emits a light lives of 12 which is much nicer it basically functions to the light source if you want to be in a rich border in Minecraft just have a bunch of in Xiamen tables everywhere as your source of light it'll work just fine also an interesting source of light is these blazes over here for some reason blazes glow in the dark they have like a light source emitting from them which is super suit strange it's really dark in there but yet I can see the blazes and show that this is a real thing let's say you know go to sleep real quick or do the command equivalent and you're gonna see how like oh yeah in the daytime they don't blow at nighttime they sort of do the thing is this would never come in useful because in the never there's no day and night anyway but yet it exists in the game regardless speaking of things that exist in the game if you feed an animal their favorite food of choice so let's give some chickens some wheat seeds you can see how the particle appears in front of them like look very closely at this next one just in case you missed it the chicken has some like seed particles coming off the chicken itself look at this right here there's some seeds that it's actually eating also the way you write a pig is slightly different it has to be mentioned the turnings a bit jerk here there's a lot of strange different okay even get the pig out there the turnings a bit jerk here the way you know the eating sound effect goes is much louder as you just heard right there it's much more like a proper sports car or something which is what we want from our pigs in Minecraft also when you jump up a block it's not instant there's like a climbing that has to happen so yeah lots of weird things lots of weird sounds I would say one of the weirdest sounds in Minecraft and yeah it's one of those areas where I think minecraft bedrock gets the sound design right but this is arguably more of a difference than a feature but it's a very interesting difference at that what's also an interesting feature is this right here where you can see snow lairs don't just exist as a block by themselves instead you can get things that are snow logged such as grass look at this this is grass or at least you know the tiger version of it and when these snow falls down onto the grass the grass remains so there's grass that is snow look it's kind of like water logging but it's snow logging which is a weird phrase but it's it's true another thing that's kind of oddly true is the fact that if you're in creative or if you're in peaceful as we are right now as we just update ourselves to be then when we eat this as you can see it's or are I should say we can eat as many go on cameras as want regardless of our hunger on our you know on Java eat if you're hungry you can't in peaceful and especially if you're not hungry you can't eat food gulps the situation but here we can do it just fine but there's slightly different animation as you'll notice while Desha was working on the signs apparently aids sensor thing came up and it's worth mentioning because bedrock is you know played a bunch of across a bunch of different platforms some of which have censorship rules these sensor platforms the censorship off the most stringent platform applies to all of them so there's so many weird words the censored you can't say the year 1488 i think it has some references to some negative things but anything that could have even the tiniest negative implication on any one platform seems to be censored on all bedrock platforms as a whole or so I think as wacky as you can basic be mine and creative like your pickaxe is mining even though wearing it's an instant break because we're in creative but it looks like I'm mining it another thing that's odd is that the you know the mob spawner actually exists in Minecraft creative menu so honor Java this is obviously only available wire commands and stuff it's still doable but in the default creative menu that anyone can access you can place mob spawner and also you can have an empty mob spawner which is really cool my opinion and yet you can choose to put any mob you want in there using the spawn eggs so do you want to have a salmon spawner well boy do I have some good news for you because you can do it if you want to you shouldn't want to but you can do it also here's a spawner for a V pillage of Beast which is kind of fun we've got the fact that snow can full and when it falls if there's a snow tile below it because snow is a much better handled on bedrock it'll actually add to the snow rather than just like kind of being trapped on it so you can see the snow falls down and it gets added to the previous amount and yet this can happen all the way up into a full block if it so chooses to also interestingly enough to me is the fact that if you know you have Leafs in a snow biome they turn fully white when it snows I showed this off in my let's play funnily enough but I can't make it snow here so you can have to trust me on this one okay look at this we are inside a snow biome and the trees are very clearly white because it's been snowing for so long and yet if we go to bed to make the snow go away because it's nighttime and you can make rain and therefore snow go away when we wake up the trees it might take a few seconds but the trees slowly fade back to normal just like that okay a boom now you've seen it it's already weird feature I think it's a cool exclusive if you like snow biomes if you don't like snow biomes you'll probably never notice it and also something you might notice if you're a corner person if you like thinking about your world in a Geographic sense you might love having coordinates on screen at all times on Java they're not a cheap that they are you know they come with a lot of other information that used to be cheating now kind of ism but it's something you have to display on screen alongside a lot of other stuff whereas bedrock it's just a default game rule you can have on or off you can use the game rule command I showed earlier or you can just go into the settings and in the settings for any world you have this show coordinates button you can turn on or off how handy right by the way a thing that changed from when we planned this map to show up all these features to when it actually came out is the fact that if you had an entity on a chest there be a chicken whether it be yourself you wouldn't be able to help open the chest but now unless it's a cat which can physically stop you as you can see I'm on the chest but I can still open it and I can pull out the barriers and I can prove that earlier point about like oh wow look how useful they are on how they just instantly vanish and they're fast and effective rather than job where it's slow and clunky and stuff like that so isn't that kind of fun be a barrier blocks running available via you know commands it's worth mentioning but still they're instant they're fast they're effective they're speedy again their design for bedrock and most features their design for bedrock when they're exclusive you'll notice how the trend is towards better performance because bedrock has a much better performance in terms of its render distance and whatnot and in terms of how fast it loads all these sorts of things and that's because all of these features have been made with attentions detail because it is available on phones phones of course you know fun facts of toy cat phones are less powerful than pcs and therefore things made for phones run very well on PCs speaking of commands by the way there are some commands only bit of on bedrock it's far fewer than the number available on the Java ssin which is why we have the same seven page book but as you can see there's just a bunch of Bank blank pages in here but uh yeah as you can see game rules drowning damage exclusive here full damage exclusive here fire damage exclusive here there are things you can do with the game rules that you can't do on the job addition you have to modern there I'll set up some custom command block no you can do that just using default commands here on the bedrock edition also random tick speed is a weird thing in the options menu oh I don't own this realm so I can't check that out well sure basically when you start brand new world you have option to random tick speed and the game roll can default or one also there are a few commands they're just different such as save set max players it's really strange actually minecraft bedrock by default unless you have eight players but if you know that command you can have 30 players in your local game makes you question what you can't do that all the time but weird feature there's scoreboard there's slash transfer server there's slash resupply slash more event / title rule and slash ticking area so yeah there are some commands and game rules only available on the bedrock edition it's just and it dwarfed by the reverse because the jar additions being built for commands down whereas again commands are less of a key feature on bedrock I have been seen that way they're kind of coming back in a major way there's a lot of focus on the scripting engine and on commands and all these sorts of things being made more powerful but they haven't may happen right now which is why there are a few exclusives on bedrock then in Java when it comes to that anyway we've gotten really technical for a while now so let's go to a nice simple one mining bedroll we're in creative mining obsidian is slightly faster in Minecraft bedrock than Minecraft Java you might not notice it the first few times it looks like you're mining forever but when you mine on Java you'll notice the difference it takes about nine seconds with a default pickaxe to mine a block of obsidian in Minecraft Java ssin whereas when you play minecraft bedrock it takes something closer to six and obviously we're efficiency that speeds up a lot more and yeah if you have an efficiency five pickaxe you can actually mine you know obsidian at a decent-enough right whereas when you don't honor you know job addition it takes you know about third longer or 50% longer it's a third lesser a 50% longer because of how mass works it's confusing okay but let's move on to the next thing which isn't confusing because you know this sugarcane right here do you see this it's a nice sugarcane right if you use a bone mill you can grow that you can Wow look at that the the this sugarcane just grew and the pig is falling in love with me for some reason but the end the sugarcane just grew and the same is also true for you know kept you can burn mill those if you so choose although there we go look at that it froze up these are only bone meal a bull on bedrock and I'm still not quite sure why like it's not like it most people never do it to be fair but it's not like it's a hugely different feature that couldn't be at it it just kind of hasn't also you can still touch cross paths they exist as their own block that you can gather in survival if you so choose do you want grass paths all that much probably not it's probably better just to use the same shovel and you know place it do it down just like this but there are some situations where a grass path is a good decision to make and yeah now you know cross paths so touchable also just a weird thing but in the creative menu you can find the mushroom blocks these are a real block that you can just gather in the game it's really wacky there's lots of different colors and varieties of them compared to Java is this necessary for most people no but I would like to mention I believe I was the first person to find that this existed in Minecraft you know consolation way back when and I I still like to claim crap for that one all these years later so fun facts of toy cat sometimes I just like to feel important okay speaking of things that like to feel important this Lantern is the most ridiculous thing what is the lantern code tell me friends off the internet it's called a lantern right not on bedrock on bedrock it's called SC Lantern and this is a it's one of the more weirdest persistent bugs in Minecraft where every other update it goes back to being called the sea lantern it's not a lantern of the sea there isn't iseman minecraft call the sea dancin but apparently they got mixed up and I don't know why it hasn't been fixed that if something's - of having so many platforms makes it so hard to fix I believe but still the fact that a simple name is very very tricky to fix goes to show why it's so tricky to develop for bedrock no only you have to worry about performance non you have to worry about all these sorts of things but also when you you know do change something it's really hard to unchanged because the certification process is for you know Google Play and Xbox and Nintendo they all take a lot of time they all cost a little bit of money and yeah it makes it tricky to do something for the small sake of changing a lanten's name or rather changing a sea lanterns name am i right by the way this is the statute where we praise toy cat but because this statue only exists on bedrock it's technically a better if exclusive I'm just following the signs man I'm just following the sign we all near the end here though so let's talk about dabbing statues look at this the the statue can dab have you ever wanted a statue to dab in Minecraft I hope so but yeah statues have arms by default which is the reason they can dab because fun fact this is tragic but if you do not have arms you cannot dab that's right the dead meme is not possible without arms and isn't that tragic for the disabled community I'm just saying like this video because every like is a prayer it's it's true also interesting to me is the fact that you can actually read I walk in your just default crafting table if you so choose so here you can see I've got some line bed and I've got some bone mill I can make that bed wait if I want to not that anyone would ever want to do that because this is a peasant bed but you could take your white bed and then you can dye it blue if you so choose you can dye your existing kind of butt beds to something else but you can also do this with woo if you want to like oh yeah I've got some blue wool but I'd rather have some light blue wool you can change it this is actually pretty useful for me because like getting white wool is really really easy and you know white what can be dyed there are some other types of wool like if you have a lot of red for example where you can go through and you can change things like that so if you want you can infinitely waste by just going from one thing up to the other just like this if you so choose but yeah fun factoid cat right there also has to be mentioned crafting very different in bedrock you can either copy the recipe from the recipe book but unlike Java you can just take it straight from there so do you want a bucket you do want a bucket it's a great item bucket of water best item in Minecraft just sayin but if you want a bucket of water which you totally should then you can craft it directly from the crafting interface also cobwebs can be turned at the nine string using that same crafting interface which is kind of wacky to me it gives an extra used to abandon mine shafts in my opinion just in case you want a lot of string because you can take a cobweb turn it into string then you can take that same string which I had a huge amount of apparently you can take that same string and you can turn that into wool so yeah you can turn cobwebs into walk in an indirect but pretty useful way if you have a lot of cobwebs that you're never gonna use because if you're playing survival by yourself you're never gonna use cobweb site we also have composters which have a different crafting recipe as you can see right here this is the recipe for Java this is the recipe for bedrock I prefer the bedrock recipe because it's simpler but you can obviously do your own thing oh look yeah it's correct leftist bedrock right it's Java this is the composter this is a really cool way to display information actually but yet as you can see the recipes easy for the composter on bedrock why is it different I again it's all those things where they were being updates at the same time on bedrock they decide on its recipe and I guess maybe they just have a big fight and they never fixed it but yeah the recipe is much easier on bedrock which is great because a lot of things are much harder on bedrock so it's nice to have something done for us also if you so choose you can throw grass blocks into the combustor and yeah I would say it's a waste of grass blocks but if you want bone mill you can convert cross into bone mill in a very inefficient and slow way also speaking of inefficient and slow we've got villagers and their ripoff trades man I can't stand some of these like oh yeah you know what I really want to do I want to trade for rabbits in exchange for an emerald and then get one rabbits to in return like sorry what what is that like what are you doing the other free rabbits villager but anyway so you can trade your villagers and you'll notice how on bedrock they have an emerald above them so look at this there's an emerald over here when my cursor is this is a way to the other players no dual train with Verger that villagers trading right now and can't be traded with I think it's useful more player for solo I mean you're never gonna note six you've got the UI anyway but still cool little change that's also how describe the fact that redstone blocks can support ladders and tripwire hooks only on the bedrock condition so here you can see it's a ladder on a redstone block and look it's a tripwire hook as well kind of fun right also we've got cakes this is a huge change cake stack up to 64 on bedrock if you don't know cake stack up to one on Java so you know the mess there I'm gonna do this for you because I know it's quite complex the maps there's you can stack sixty four more times cakes in a slot on bedrock as opposed to Java and given that you know there's a lot of third you know servers on Java you know to be teased is an example but there's lots of ther you know like servers where Kay called the only good food because there's just so much lag going on and lag affects your ability to eat so yeah the fact that you can stack 64 times as much makes cake a really genuinely good food on you know bedrock for situations like that so yeah fun fact you can stack cakes only on the better condition well so while Java might have the wither Rose exclusively for whatever reason bedrock has with a potion so if you ever wanted to whether someone with a potion again this is only available by creative there's no survival way to make it that I'm aware of yeah but there are potions of decay there are errors of decay there's lingering potions and splash potions and regular put you know there are potions that decay people and I think we're gonna die from this one actually let's check yeah I think we're gonna die from this so yeah there are things of decay and you can die if you're not careful about it so I guess be warned about left to confirm it is withering enough poison like at withered away also poison doesn't kill you it takes you to half a heart withering kills you all the way so have you ever wanted poison but more deadly poison then I mean I'm concerned about your wants in life but you've got it right here well so the way cauldron dying works is entirely different on bedrock also by the way you get lava cauldrons only here in bedrock it why is this a thing same caster if like I have no clue but it's cool right you can fill a cauldron with lava why because why not so yeah notice how I was wearing leather boots this entire time if I wanted to dye them I can't be like oh yeah I'm gonna take my boots and I'm gonna take my blue dye on my light blue dye that's not how this one works no no no what you do is you dye the water in a cool and then you can dye them from that so have you ever wanted to have urine colored boots I mean I'm sure we all have just like that dunk it in the urine and boom you've got your encoded colored boots in minecraft I mean don't we all dream for day where we could do this fun fact even though cauldrons can be filled of lava you can't dump your thing in there that's not gonna work so yeah fun fact oh I guess I should also mention that for the same reason if you take a bucket of water and you put it in a cauldron some you can do on Java too and which is its only use on job which is kind of weird but you can actually wash your you know any diet item as well so yeah clothes washing only possible in Minecraft bedrock and people say that minecraft isn't gender inclusive by the way the chickens enjoying his time trapped there in the barrier box you can actually see that there's berries there cuz it's cut off the grass but the chicken doesn't know anything he's just he's just miming around in a cage of his own creation so to include a few more in here because they're going to be particularly jarring because wall generation is something I didn't cover too much in this video because there's so many minor world generation differences but the biggest ones you're going to notice are the facts that if you go into a swamp biome you're not only gonna find your swamp trees your Sun grass and your swampy spot with its bumpy water but you're also going to find mushrooms in there that's right mushrooms can generate in swamps as you can see right here mushroom over there mushroom over here mushrooms will over the place and I think it makes a nice addition personally but it is an exclusive another one that I feel like isn't actually commonly known as a bedrock exclusive because it first came to Java and then separately came to bedrock and then Java removed it but a lot of people don't know that that's the case so basically there is a bedrock exclusive off the four lands and the four lands as you know the one you saw on screen just now and also the one you're seeing on screen right now it's interesting because the four lands is different depending on which platform of Minecraft bedrock you're playing it's one of those weird areas where minecraft bedrock is mostly one platform with all of these features I've mentioned but the way it handles you know things like this is entirely different depending on if you're on Windows 10 or an Xbox or on a phone or on the switch it's all entirely differently and also as you can see there are caves under the water on this one so yeah super interesting stuff the Far Lands is in fact a Minecraft bedrock exclusive also well we're here anyway let's talk about one of the most jarring exclusives because I feel like a lot of people and notice this one when I'm playing if you want a spot in life shrooms and so on and so forth by the way I live stream wouldn't you like to know about that but um yeah when I'm playing Minecraft besides the you know making blocks in front of myself I think one of the biggest things people notice is let's say you have a stat effect of night vision and then you've also got some strength potion and then you've also got a turtle master potion so you've got four effects on your once right and you can see them in the oven on the right of the screen it looks very slightly different a Java but I wouldn't say that's an exclusive it's just a slight difference in rendering but the difference in bedrock is that there is a screen you can go to just to see your mob of X instead of opening your inventory or even the Crematory there's no mob effects over here as you can see instead you have to place a Z on PC it's a you have to bind your own button on a you know console but basically as you can see the effects show up in this dedicated window and it's a bit odd because this window you know really it seems like you could just use the inventory but no there is a mob effect window that you have to open to see if you've got hunger from a thing or whatever just in case you don't know all the things on the side mean again most people can tell oh that's strengthened that's night vision but just in case you can't now you know anyway let's go to the nether because as we go there you go to notice how the loading screens are very different here is what it looks like there's like a red never brick background it looks like the very oldest loading screens for Minecraft Java actually from way way back in the day but yeah it's different also here's one that I really love water color is different in every biome in Minecraft you know bedrock including the end and the never you can't get water in the nether but then the water here has a really nice red tinge to anyway never water looks amazing on bedrock it's a shame this isn't an officially supported feature cuz it looks so great as a result but yet you can see like you can even if you take up the water from this same place you can't put it back in there which is kind of funny in my opinion also it's kind of funny is that maps as a whole are entirely different in Minecraft bedrock but also when you are in a map he'll show your corresponding place in the nether so you can see how because never travel is eight blocks to everyone look in your world you travel much faster on a overworld map when you're in the nether and you can use this your advantage because you can work out exactly where you're gonna pop out in the overworld based on you'll never travel which is such a handy feature like it does their calculations and stuff for you which I really like next up we've got the fact that fish bombers are actually a 3d item they fool much faster they're very different in that way as you can see throw a fish popper it's a real item that exists and yet falls boss it's a very interesting kind of thing by itself but it can't pick up any items if you try to grab them so there's some bones over there I want to pick them up it doesn't work like that like it doesn't job up which is a shame because there's so many cool things you could do otherwise that you can't do like that also we have the fact that if you have a wet sponge you can dry it instantly in the nether I thought it was amazing enough that minecraft already had clothes washing but it also has drying available for you as well but no yeah this is much more efficient than using a furnace in my opinion which is the upper major way you fix these things and just yet it's a pretty handy feature of role you'd also maybe enjoy the sounds if you're a sound design person you shouldn't enjoy the sounds but yeah you can you can use them as walking blocks if you really want it feels a bit zelda when you do that and yeah maybe you can use this the best of your advantage or maybe you just think it's cool by itself that's that's your opinion to have but what isn't your opinion to have is the fact that puffer fish will inflate when you hurt them I guess they're already inflated right now but yeah that inflate when you they get there perfectly like staring at each other in a square what a weird thing anyway to end this video with a bank let's spawn in the wither because something you might not know is the river is hugely different on bedrock again even though minecraft bedrock is designed for phones tablets etc it has this very interesting thing where the wither hardest boss in Minecraft Java is so much harder in Minecraft bedrock it's absurdly hard to go through and yet it's a thing you might know about this game this is the last kind of major between you go through the wither starts spawning women skeletons defend them the wither can go much higher kind of actually break for obsidian to very easily it's near impossible to defeat the river in bedrock which makes getting a beacon a much bigger achievement which maybe you like maybe you don't you can tell me but yeah it's kind of wacky let's go in there let's light this river so that we can move on from the little boys but bedrock is one of two things if you want to use natural bondage then feel free but if you don't then I have two lost features to go through here Bone Mills when placed in an extreme Hills can project produced burns as well which is kind of cool and also leads sport things like Douglas and Keith if you wanna you know and also you've got Billy over here if you want to get these guys lead it up you can lead them up to a fence as sorry to a wall as well as a fence which is a bedrock exclusive isn't that nice I think it's nice look at that I've got my dog tied to a wall it seems a bit risky but whatever you get the point dogs and wolves isn't that lovely and bone mill and grass makes bones so now we've gone all of these features out the way there was a lot of them right let's kind of talk about the things I wouldn't say it features but are huge differences in how the game is seen because minecraft barrel is a cheaper game on most platforms when you buy the Windows 10 version it's the same as Java so I would say that's probably a mistake in you know pricing but again they price it at the price that people can pay not what the price they think you know has a value or whatever which is why it's cheaper in Android than it is on Xbox than it is on Windows 10 but yes so in case you're curious as to like so what are the other differences that come from this game being multi-platform and being kind of Microsoft's big push for the future of Minecraft what are the differences that come from that well firstly there's an achievement system built into every version of Minecraft play minecraft and then hit a switch you've got Xbox Live achievements play Minecraft on your Android or iOS phone you've got Xbox Live achievements which I actually think is really cool but unlike advancements from Java they don't give you in game experience they give you out of game experience which you know for your gamer tag profile whatever like if you if you value having a high gamer score then boom you can get achievements from Minecraft and yeah the fact that the game rewards you outside the game rather than inside the game is kind of cool also there are more achievements but they're different achievements so that's I would say an exclusive feature but kind of just a difference also you know it goes about saying that this game is much more monetized than Minecraft Java minecraft Java you buy the game and then you can kind of buy realm sometimes like the round we're on right now you can buy a round here on bedrock as easily as fast as you like the two players or 4/10 you get a discount if you only want two players in the realm I would always recommend 10 if you have more than one friend in the world which you know immensely isn't most people and doesn't include me but still you can now you know you can set up a round here on bedrock but the difference is on Java you get a bunch of maps for him for free every month they're giving you new maps with your own subscription here on Drock you can buy your 669 a month subscription which adds up to a lot over the course of a year by the way but you can buy a subscription to realms but then also you have to buy the map separately through something called the marketplace so you know how I was saying how your Minecraft had obviously skin packs that you could buy for things like Star Wars and you know Simpsons etc I think license properties make sense because you always can't put them in your game in an official sense however when it comes to the bear perdition you can only buy skin packs of which by the way there are hundreds of skin packs they all have the easiest moneymakers because you can charge two three four five you know sometimes even six dollars for a skin pack if you really want sue and some people will pay that you can make money for selling your minecraft skins would you get admittedly you know there's nothing forcing you besides it's just pressure into it you can also buy texture packs though you can also buy it whole worlds for your realms or just be a regular thing and you can buy mashup packs and all of these are bought using something called mined coins which you have to buy through the screen like this so yeah there's a freemium currency in Minecraft and there's even the whole like oh if you buy more you get a bonus and exchange for it which is it's it's rough to say the least right like you know minecraft went from being one of the purest indie games to having micro sections however the way they do micro sections is better than any other major game out there it does have be set because it is all stuff the supports the community the majority of money made from this does go back to the people who make things like city teens or frostfall or the school's out skinpack or whatever else there's a lot of school skin packs in there all of these different packs are made by people and those people get paid in exchange for it Microsoft of course takes it cut the top 30 percent in case you're curious as well as the 30% every platformer you know play stakes so that's another 30% some cases but yeah basically you know Michael takes a cut at the top but they are basically allowing other players to sell you things in Minecraft which is really cool in that one way the only show I do have is that they really do oversell it so when you go to the skin menu you can only see your skins you can see every skin you haven't bought yet so they can advertise to you there again this used to be worse but it's like oh yeah lots of new tags there then there's a new tag on the marketplace that never goes away so you always think you're missing out on something if you're not checking it rectally then if you start a new world literally the most fundamental thing in Minecraft you could create a new world or you could doubt you use markup templates or you could buy a new template don't you wanna play the Toy Story mashup or animals or furniture modern or lucky block classic and yeah that's the difference when it comes to monetization I would say is that you're going to have some serious differences in your experience if you're not used to seeing this awful stuff I would say for the most part though it achieved some good things it's better than any other major game out there but it is the sign that a major company is bought minecraft which has some ups and it has some downs this is one of the downs but it's done in one of the better ways you could expect it's kind of like if you tell me you're gonna hit me I'm gonna say hey can you hit me of like I don't know like giant rubber gloves on or like giant think things on your hands to make the blow softer and you're like yeah and it's like well you still shouldn't be hitting me but I appreciate you're the sort of person and just like saying people so if this helps it get out of your system that was a terrible answer you get the point though and finally we've got servers which are different on bedrock different servers as a whole different systems in place and also they can hit hook up directly into that wine Queen system so yeah Microsoft takes a cut off will be servers I do believe I don't know if it's 40 percent or if it's lower or high or whatever but there is servers on bedrock they're different servers they're generally considered worse because it's a different version of the game with different programming for different platforms etc etc etc so I hope you did all enjoy today's video if you did you can tell your friends about it and that would really help out the chat a lot let me know what you think about the barrel versus Java exclusives I know some people it's gonna be tribalistic I've played bedrock therefore I love bedrock better I play Java therefore Java good bear look bad but no what do you really think as regards to which of these features are better or do you think it is just like oh yeah Java has some good they don't have some good because that's my opinion there are probably more interesting features on Java but there are a lot of very intriguing features you know that do a lot of interesting things on bedrock and yeah I think the besides the sheer number being slightly different I think it wasn't interesting to go for regardless just in case you are curious by the way I've got 54,000 gamerscore not to brag or anything I actually maxed out both Minecraft and I maxed out the old minecraft Xbox one says in that cool I've got to bat max out versions of Minecraft you might not think that's cool I I thought it was cool it took me a while to do because there's a really hard she went in there anyway yeah thank you for watching goodbye my avatar is a monstrosity [Music]
