Can You Really Get Netherite Before Wood?

hello I'm a few extra cat and although most of us are excited for 1.16 there are some people who are worried about the impact that a never update will have on Minecraft such as this piece of feedback tweeted out some developers saying I hope you have considered the fact that you've changed the game's meta to one constructive a portal to get never write AMA free punch tree progression is completely broken right now although this is a super over-the-top angry tweet we do see a response from Dinnerbone one of Minecraft developers saying we'd love to hear your concerns and I'd love to see a run where you do exactly that gosh and this got me thinking as of the latest snapshots and betas how easy really is it to go to the nether and get never right before you even punch down your first tree and that is something we're gonna be finding out together in today's video and of course to keep this one fair we'll be doing it on a blank or random minecraft seed just to prove that it is possible on any minecraft world not just a given you know particular minecraft seed because obviously it's easy to find an example of one minecraft seed thought about this random minecraft blog which is actually pretty good because they spawn in a village so the first thing you do in a Minecraft ball is you of course you know you get some food or you chop down some trees or both but we are not interested in either of those things we're interested in finding ourselves a unlit portal just in case you are curious by the way a brand new beta did come out for Minecraft bedrock that brings in all of the features pretty much that are on the job edition so that's why this is possible for us to check out in bedrock as opposed to the Java version but yeah let's go ahead and let's find you know odds stop saying unlit never portal they are pretty common in the overworld now there we go look at this it looks kind of like a stronghold but it's actually an unlit nether portal it's actually one of the least filled under portals I've seen so far this one doesn't even give us any obsidian just some some gold armor which is gonna be useful for finding that never right a gold axe which isn't gonna be useful except if I see spiders and then some Flint and Steel's which will be useful for the next portal that I find so I mean yeah at this point it's very clear that on the average minecraft seed on a random minecraft seed I should really say you're getting you know to a nether portal getting a free lit one found before you chop down a tree it's definitely not easier I mean I've got golden axe which was really easy maybe that's a balance concern I mean spiders no longer concern for me but the that yeah it's not necessarily easier than chopping down the tree as I can attest to given the number of trees that I passed along the way I found a second village which is one of the weirdest villages I've seen in a while it's literally on Byron's got coal next to it but whole other issue I guess and yeah we're gonna try and find ourselves another ruined portal oh and this one is really darn lit as well look at this you can see how it's basically four blocks away okay six clocks away from being usable okay so not every single new portal will take you straight to than ever in fact the two we've found so far aren't even close this one doesn't even contain a chest around here you don't have a dome pickaxe you got you can't take anything from here like they have an eye pick actually pick the gold otherwise there's nothing here for you it just exists it's a cool function off the swamp biome don't get me wrong otherwise not too much is going on here okay it's near the end of the day we're pretty much at where there should be over in Portal and there's just not one here there's a tiny chance it's on the ground but there's the best I know that isn't how these things work and yeah there's a lot of Brewin portals that minecraft think exists that dunk on the other hand though something is legitimately easier is killing spiders look how rekt this spider is about to get one-hit kill this this golden axe that they go up in a path pauses just oh he changes minecraft for the worst not because you go to the never before you get wood but because of this but let's let's keep on going let's keep on seeing if it seriously is possible to get to the never just with spawn portals and of course it is it's just a matter of how many portal along the way we're passing a village which is partially in a Mesa very odd combination of structure and biome but sure we've got never example by the way of a portal which as you can see at 968 - 264 it's just not where it says it's going to be did it get confused did it think did it get strongholds mixed up with like ruin portals is this gonna take me to the end portal by accident oh okay no look down here below the ground you can see some never AK you can see that if you were mining at this layer something you would find is quite astoundingly going to be a portal or is it again it's quite deep the ground just to confirm there's nothing else here by the way there's a lot of never AK but where the portal should be instead oh no there is still even this is the luckiest spawn ever all this is perfect you know like overlapping with the stronghold look how perfectly they go together anyway here you can see we've got all but five obsidian and in the chest we've got a Golden Apple nervous ideon okay well there goes that theory yeah literally straight below an end portal room there is one of these which is cool not useful for speedrunning useful for being interesting though okay I see never portal off the distance there's a lot of these in the overworld this really will change your worlds post 1.16 maybe for the worst once you actually get used to going clever but for a lot of people all change it for better because it makes the never more accessible look at this this portal is almost all the way filled in it's just missing this block and this block except you can't break those in survival without a damn pickaxe or using 200 seconds but we get one both obsidian and we get some golden apples we can take with us to the next room portal just to clarify right here we're at the next room portal - 968 550 - there is nothing here and even if there was something below the ground wouldn't be usable anyway so keep that in mind okay here's another portal as you can see it's below water and it has a chest in that chest is some gold armor which again you'll need to protect yourself from the pig lens or whatever but there's not enough obsidian here to make it full portal and even if we place our last block here one it's under water so it wouldn't like you have to sponge it or something and - it's got crying obsidian so it also won't like ruin portable number 6 right here it's actually a pretty cool location for it it does have a lot of gold and another gold axe of smite so now we're skeletons have to fear us and a clock as well some gold which is nice but again isn't taking us to the never easier and we can't even use this portal because it's partially below the lava we could place some blocks in there and fill it that way short technically but I mean it's a lot of work and requires a lot of blocks which you don't have because you haven't shopped down trees the next portal also doesn't have any obsidian in there again remember it's a rare drop you might get really lucky sometimes for sometimes you get an unbreaking one gilt shovel which you really don't want to take with you by the way you can see these three portals from each other there's one there one just over there and there's one in the mountain over here so sometimes these do spawn really close to each other in spite of that fact we've just traveled about 2,000 blocks now to find another portal which requires five blocks as well as removing one and it gives us free bits of obsidian this is amazing look but it's still not enough to use this particular portal so we continue on our search look these two are really close to each other as well sometimes you get really lucky this is a great seed for rune portals evidently except I mean not in the right ways but in some of the ways okay there's two bits of obsidian in here we've got now six bits of obsidian and a flint and steel as well as some nice gold leggings if we want them okay as we pass a literal ocean monument and as we go free thousand blocks away from spawn on the x-axis and a thousand on the z axis four thousand blocks total we find ourselves another nether portal it has the seventh bit of obsidian that we need by the way it also provides golden apples which means that you know we haven't used a single block to get here fiercely but we can be hungry have we solved that hunger golden apples the logical food source for the man on the go or so you can find food in the Minecraft world isn't on trees I'll admit but you can also just eat the golden apples as you go but if we find one more of these unlit portals okay this portal also has crying obsidian in it which means that without diamond pickaxe you can't remove that without spending a ludicrous amount of your time yeah all a bit quite free once you get to nine bits of obsidian which only takes ten ruined portals half an hour and about 4000 blocks of traveling but once you've done that what you can freely do is you can just do something as simple as this and wow what's this have we made ourselves a nether portal without requiring a tree being chopped down yes we have that was technically already true because you get loop from villages and stuff like that but this is an inherently new 1.16 exclusive feature so now let's go around and let's look for a big limb Bastion I guess because we're in from pig lands but we're not Norman from the rest terrifying things you'll find in the never let's see how well this one goes me oh we're in a no fortress will we get a gold sword this is just the gold run of Minecraft is looking like at this point so yeah we have to break through blocks to get through here we don't have a pickaxe yet because we haven't shot down a tree fortunately never hack is pretty easy to break your fists it's anti obsidian it's really easy you just get real like this when we see mobs like that blaze we just run past them because we're not interested in them we want to get never right because we're proving a point about gang never right before trees done it okay I'm gonna use my food source to get me out this tricky situation I'm in okay that is not working I thought it was this is a big biome also we could chop down trees here if we want it to but again never right cause us where do we find a bastion any by and by the way if you want to find Basham's in survival any by and besides basalt Delta's will do so we're surrounded by all of those right now eventually if we just look in any direction long enough we should find a big limb Bastion look at this by the way here's the problem the openness of this my axe we can to to hit kill the skeleton it's just not fair now we have a bowl before we have a before we chop down a single tree we've got ourselves info that's actually pretty impressive I'd say okay let's kill this guy [Music] okay I've got a strategy here I want to be up there I could really just go back through the portal till I get to my thing over there but also I can use some of the bones that I got from killing skeletons and I can use these handily enough on these little weeping vines right here and now we got ourselves some free movement in the never again no word broken just yet okay I've got to really play my cards carefully I feel like let's let's be careful no rash decisions you know actually let's get some more of these vines and I'm starting to I'm starting to regret what we did here and I'm not sure if there's a way out oh no I will be fully transparent with you right now and say that I died and unlike doing that youtuber thing where you're like hey here's what I did off-camera and pretend it never happened is sadly I feel like I'm breaking your dreams being like yep this is really what happened but um you know rather than doing that I think I fed myself for this piglet and rather than doing that I'll just say hey we use Ephrata like you've seen earlier to explain how the run can be possible and apparently we've done already which sucks but let's see if we can make this work and get ourselves to a billion Bastian without using any words or anything that would require crafting based on that word because wood comes later damn it what comes after than ever right now okay we're finally free from the net fortress we can hop into this little crimson forest and also we can use the bow meal to get more of these weeping vine they're not the weeping vines but they're a nice plain fabric color so okay we are dead are we thumbs out will the skeletons be spooky we're gonna live that as long via Golden Age so now we just run through this crimson forest where we're safe by the way Pig lens won't kill us because we have gold armor on it's actually freely getting hurt because gold armor doesn't last a long time that's one of the fun parts of this dynamic in my opinion and now we're gonna find a pig limb Bastian these things are more common than you might expect but you know about the same commonality as a never fortress I if you will specifically looking for one you might spend a long time looking but that's okay I mean I've got all the time in the world it's not like living off golden apples that I found from random chests around the world now that's not the situation I've got all the time to look specifically for these piglet bastions which I might never find Oh yep even more time even more time a reminder that we can't cross gas because we don't have blocks we haven't shopped down wood yet ooh some black stone real nice doesn't tell me that there's a big limb Bastion near here but it's always cool to see new blocks and then ever did you know that never generates different in this update not just because of new biomes but also there's never gold all this gilded black star there's just lots of blocks to making a more exciting place to be I'll be real cute I'm kind of dying out here there's not much going on for me other than you know features that seem like they make the game easy like Striders you can't use them without saddle you need some overworld stuff here to really take advantage of it there isn't much never food I mean that that Hoagland would have given me some if I was lucky admittedly but other than that you can't bar on your own you could kill some Pigman but that's not such a great idea if I kept the gold I could have traded with the piglets now I've been smart they don't let me to their fortress that is not how that works but we can believe that it's all he is but yeah basically the never harder to survive then you might assume okay we are in pretty dire straits right now I am genuinely considering attacking the pig limb just as a way of getting something but I don't think they drop pork chops when they die I'm pretty sure they don't in fact Oh a baby Hoagland I don't know why he's attacking me but I don't get anything from it oh he runs away pup man you underestimate how weak a cold sorta still you try to kill something with any amount of help of it but yeah we got to get out there we finally found a hog limb and my plan is that like pigs in the overworld they probably will drop pork chops if they die in fire also it's easy for me to kill them if they're on fire so I'm gonna try and set that up right now okay there we go please burn okay they do in fact burn perfect and now we kill them nice and easy and they drop me some cockles right yeah look at that food in the never white why even Bob with the overworld when there's cooked pork chops here it's definitely a lot easier to kill a hog limb than a pig that's for sure oh and what's this finally a bastion we've just got my ok so there's Pig lines in there the piglets don't care about you if you have gold armor on like we indeed do today so we're just gonna walk right in here and already there's a double chest in fact there's a double chest next to a regular chest a double double chest if you will although it's not a double double it's like a double single double a triple maybe so in this one we get some gold leggings some arrows which is nice and in this one we get some magma cream ups and go but oh they don't like when you use their chests right okay okay yeah I think this is real easy though the never is perfect in every way and we so can you get never right before chopping down trees not very easily okay but assuming I wasn't an idiot with the Pigman bastion and I didn't open their chests in front of them something they hate even when you're wearing gold and they respect you because you're a capitalist pig just like them even in those situations it's still kind of like you know you can fiercely be fine a bit but if you did look around you can find obsidian here you can find crossbows you can find crying obsidian you can find the best piece of music in you know minecraft so far which is wonderful you can jam out twit before you've even chop down a tree although a jukebox requires would put ignoring that and indeed yes if you are lucky enough you will find somewhere around here not only again pretty good loot in that ball and source an and gob blocks and stuff but eventually you'll find yourself something like a never write home of fortune soup or if you're really lucky never ate leggings with some dumb and shaman also you can find never right gear and indeed never eat scraps itself here in the piglet bastion and you know this is obviously something you can do without having chopped down a single tree because if I just wasn't dumb and try to open the chest in front of Pig lens then I would have been able to get myself a never right ho women and shaman on before I chop down a single tree and indeed there's a way out really easily because there would have been a ruined portal not too far away I could have gone back to the overworld and then live my normal life just where they never ate Oh as well but the real question here isn't that like oh yeah can you to get never right before you chop down a tree because yes you can but the thing is even if they didn't advertise the game which is what that particular complaint was about that still would have been possible you can still find things in chests in Minecraft all over the place not just these brand new structures the room portals and the pig line bastions although not a single thing in this chest and although you can find you know that although these structures have loot and this is oddly some of the better loot tables in the game it sure is just my luck that I get another never right ho ha but ya know minecraft really wants me to have some hoses all I'm learning today but my point is that you can get multiple pieces of never right gear sometimes before you've chopped down a single tree and is that okay and this implants for is well mmm ideally not but it actually is significantly harder to go this route than it is to gobble eyes I mean the fact that we had to stop ourselves from dying twice by this you know we tied because the tongue thing I did of jumping onto a crimson vine but you know I actually died because I wasn't properly prepared for that cuz I didn't have many blocks I didn't have anything I was just using free stuff from the oak world but I mean because a player fear and we could do it it's like wait isn't that messed up isn't that crazy that a Minecraft player could not learn how to chop down trees because they're busy doing this stuff but the simple answer is that even though this is theoretically possible it's not what most players are gonna do it's a fun little edge case run that I spent 45 minutes doing and proving to be possible although you know my deaths maybe make that seem otherwise you know I should have done the creative cup thing and just be like oh I totally nailed it the first time I don't know what you guys are talking about you know that's what every youtuber does but um I I like being honest as I've said before but yeah the thing is is even though you can do it it's not the most viable path and that's the important thing but what I do find what I do take issue with the one thing I feel like there is a little bit of truth towards is the fact that you shouldn't be able to find never right tools anywhere put some diamond stuff or if you have to make it high-end in shamans or enchanted books something really high-end that people want to find sure in these chests you know saddles are even a great thing because like you know there's lots of loot that you can put into these chests that make them worthwhile for players I think never right Luke shouldn't be though because never a is meant to be this high tariffs gear that you mostly get via mining maybe they feel like it's fun to have like a second way to get it it's not as efficient as mining and but like it's gonna be some people's way to access it maybe maybe it makes it work well that way but I felt like minecraft power creeps with you know diamonds used to be only obtainable through mining and then it was mining and loot and then it's mining loot and trading and now diamonds are just diamond Garris so easily obtained like everyone has for too much of it right because it's so much easier to obtain than it is to use for most people and I worry that never Ike might become that eventually never Ike might become this kind of equivalent where it's just like oh yeah you find so much fit when you're exploring than ever in these chests that it's just like why would you need to mine on top of that it lasts so long that you need to be careful of how often you're giving it out that's my two cents on this one and let me know what you think so yeah in this Minecraft world you can theoretically get to the never you can get some never right stuff which might include some armor before you've even chop down a tree in most minecraft walls I'll be true and in some wincroft walls it will be easier to beat the game than otherwise but in most it's not the case in most of the most players most of the time it's gonna be easier to chop down wood and the reason that I feel like this isn't the biggest problem is because they've already made this a problem with NPC villagers for instance like if you wanted people to have to play the game by themselves spawning inside of a village like we did on this spawn is a really bad example that if this is alms first ever minecraft world they're gonna be so confused about how you're meant to play because the villagers seem like they are the primary mechanic if you want players to work for everything then this loot is a problem I mean give them free apples and they won't know how to chop down a tree give them free potatoes they won't understand how farming works you know there is like an element of that you could argue but I feel like that there's so many structures that already do this that adding a couple more isn't gonna be a big deal however just as a little camp point in that because I just found this quite interesting this particular seed if I know which direction to look and I didn't because I was just goofing off in survival then what you would have found is just over here to the south of the spawn there's an amazing portal right here we'll get a tree on top of it which is kind of fun but there's a portal right over here which as you can see is all obsidian no crying obsidian and in the chests there is free of obsidian a golden apple and a looting sword so all we need to do is find one more bit obsidian one flint and steel and we would have been able to go to the nether off this portal so even though it took me 10 portals to get to the never you can get there with two and if you're really lucky on a great seed you can get there in one but the point still stands that we have to pass many trees to do that and chopping down trees still comes before guns than ever going to the nether can be done early game and there's a great minecraft run to be had off this update comes out I think I'm totally gonna do it because I enjoyed this little 45 minute takes the today there's a great idea get to the never as fast as you can and try not return for as long as you can indeed that's something I'm gonna look forward to doing and maybe you should as well but for now I hope you will enjoyed this video if you liked this video you can like it and let me
